Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, thanks for being here on our Second Date podcast,
and thanks so much for subscribing. We love that we
got a brand new Awkward Tuesday phone call for you
in just moments.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
A moment second. Actually, I'm gonna start counting. First. We
need to make one of our listeners famous. Yeah, read
their comments or you know, make them infamous. I use
I use famous and quotes.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Change their name.
Speaker 4 (00:24):
But Marianna commented and said, hello from the UK. I
had a carpenter in my house fixing my door while
I was working and listening to the show. When he finished,
he asked, what am I listening to? He's never heard
anything like it.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
I don't know, don't either.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
It's really funny.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Yeah, he reviews the customer. She's unhinged. Yeah, well, you
know what, turn it up for all of your handymen
around the house. Awkward Tuesday starts right now.
Speaker 5 (00:53):
Everyone knows about bro code, but what about lady laws.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Nobody calls it that.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Time the goal guide. Yes, the she scrolls.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
It's getting older and older.
Speaker 6 (01:10):
Yeah, the shoe lady scroll from the well, whatever it's called,
it does exist, and it's standing in the way of
our listener finding out the truth about what really happened
when his girlfriend went on a trip with a bunch
of her friends. He knows something happened, and he needs
our help getting the answers before his relationship falls apart.
(01:33):
And you're gonna hear it, and you're a brand new
awkward Tuesday phone call.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Next, it's awkward.
Speaker 7 (01:40):
It's Tuesday. It's awkward Tuesday phone call.
Speaker 5 (01:45):
I think we all know what happens on boys trips.
Grown man sipping's sparkling water with tiny umbrellas, comparing essential oils,
debating the correct way to fold a linen napkin. Things
get pretty wild on all the guy getaways I've attended.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
That is not a lot of girlfriend's happy here.
Speaker 5 (02:07):
Yes, I'm not going to get into the origami tickle fights.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Whoa after you guys do the fitted sheet fight.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
It's a boy's secret.
Speaker 5 (02:18):
But on the other hand, girls trips, those are a
little bit more of a mystery.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Anybody knows, nobody knows what goes on. You just disappear.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Yeah, the same stuff, jump in.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Not as hard as we do it. You can't like
we can't.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
We can plan a dinner to blow your minds.
Speaker 5 (02:37):
I'll tell you that doubtful, But our listener, Mix says
his girlfriend took a girl's trip recently and now there's
an issue.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
They should have jumped in with fun right away.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
I mean it's probably fun for her.
Speaker 5 (02:50):
Yeah, I don't know how Mick feels about it. Mick,
welcome to the show.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Dude, that was a lot for you, there was.
Speaker 7 (03:00):
I realized I may have been doing guys trips wrong.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Looking for an invite for Jefferies next weekend.
Speaker 7 (03:08):
I'm not certain of that.
Speaker 8 (03:10):
I just.
Speaker 5 (03:12):
Well, I'll invite you to NAPA when we have an opening.
But what made you reach out to our show for help?
Speaker 7 (03:18):
So my girlfriend, her name is Adrian. We've been dating
for like a year now. Like she still does stuff
with like her friends and stuff, which is you know,
like healthy.
Speaker 6 (03:29):
Hopefully you're just like stop.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
I can't believe she still has friends.
Speaker 7 (03:36):
So they went on a trip together recently, and like
normally she gets back and like she's really cool, but
this time, I don't know, something's different. I'll ask her
about it, and like she doesn't say anything about it.
She just says it's fine and tries to change the subject.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Do you know was there any like girl drama? Like
was there some fights on the trip. Maybe she's upset
about him.
Speaker 7 (03:57):
You know, if there was, I'd love to know, But
no one told me a thing. Have you you talked
to her friends?
Speaker 2 (04:04):
I was going to ask what they say?
Speaker 7 (04:07):
They haven't said anything either. They say if she wants
to talk about it, she can, but they can't.
Speaker 6 (04:13):
The words that they used, that's a red flag right
there under the bus.
Speaker 5 (04:17):
Yeah, how did you feel? Hearing that response from the friends?
Speaker 7 (04:23):
It makes me think that something happened, But I don't.
I have no idea what.
Speaker 5 (04:27):
I didn't say it like that if something didn't happen,
I mean, at least an origami paper cut doesn't.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Like, what's the first thing that you're most worried about.
Speaker 7 (04:36):
I'm worried she got hurt.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
About Like.
Speaker 7 (04:46):
I'm kind of worried about cheating, but you know, like
your party, things get wild.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
I mean, have you seen her?
Speaker 5 (04:52):
I feel like you would know pretty quickly if she
was badly injured.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (04:56):
No, And I've tried, like ever since she got back.
I'm like, hey, do you want to do dinner? Do
you want to do lunch? Do you want to like
see a movie or something? And she's just like, no,
I'm busy I've got something going on, but it's.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Almost like she's ghosting you ride from the airport.
Speaker 7 (05:12):
Yeah, like she's still responding, So that's good.
Speaker 5 (05:15):
Okay, how long has it been since your girlfriend got
back from the girls trip?
Speaker 7 (05:21):
It's almost been a week and normally we hang out
right after, so I can get an update.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Six days not seeing someone when you're in a one
year relationship, is you?
Speaker 7 (05:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (05:31):
Well enough, Yeah, Alexis he's not giving like clingy boyfriend
vibes though, just a tiny bit borderline, but it is possible.
Speaker 7 (05:39):
It just feels like she left this one version of
herself but came back as another. I just want to
know what's going on, like what happened?
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Yeah, and who.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
The real her really is?
Speaker 9 (05:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (05:54):
How many versions of her are there?
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Well, there can be a lot.
Speaker 5 (05:58):
So the reason that you reached out to us, I'm
just wanting to clarify you want to call your girlfriend
here and what are you hoping to get done?
Speaker 7 (06:07):
I want to know what happened if I can, or
at least figure out when we could meet to find
out for sure.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
So that's going to be our challenge here.
Speaker 5 (06:15):
We're going to reach out to someone who is hesitant
to come out with a lot of information. We need
to figure out some advice for Mick here to help
him get her.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
To open up.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Oh and I can't wait to hear the tea about
this girl right now, I mean, honestly.
Speaker 5 (06:29):
Or maybe help our listener. Maybe that should be important.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Things can be true, Joey.
Speaker 5 (06:37):
We'll try to accomplish both when we do your awkward
Tuesday phone call right after this hold on, it's awkward.
It's awkward Tuesday phone call. Girls' trips? What really goes
on when women spend a weekend.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Together the girls know?
Speaker 5 (06:57):
Is it all just innocent pillow fights and why tastings
and gossip under the moonlight?
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Or is there a more sinister side to a lady's layaway.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Oh man, like deciding who gets a king sized bed
at the rental house. Yeah, okay, you're right, they're all
queen size beds.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
But that is the question that our listener, Mick has
what happened on the girl's weekend? Because his girlfriend Adrian
went on a trip with a bunch of her gal pals,
came back and ever since hasn't willingly spoken with him,
has him hung out with him at all? He even
reached out to her friends to ask what happened and
this may be the worst part. Their answer was, it's
(07:42):
not really our place to tell you, yea.
Speaker 6 (07:46):
And that also makes me think the girls want him
to know, because if they were.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
They would just be like right, they would lie to
make him feel good. But they didn't do that.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
They put him into this limbo. So, as you can expect,
Mick is totally freaked out. He's turned to us for
advice because she clearly does not want to open up
to him about it. We need to help bring down
those walls. So, Brooke, what's your advice for Mick?
Speaker 2 (08:09):
So easy? Really well, speculate something even worse that could
have happened, so then it's easy for her to confess
whatever it actually is. So you say, listen, I talked
to your friends. They said, you had to tell me,
my mind's going crazy. Did you kill someone?
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (08:27):
That's where they dig it, right to murder.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Then she feels comfortable to say, no, it's not that Nick.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
Are you comfortable questioning your girlfriend on a potential homicide?
Speaker 7 (08:36):
Hey, I think that's genius. I was shared of something else,
but this is a much better way to break the
ice on now.
Speaker 5 (08:45):
Yeah, I'm shocked that you would actually think that's a
good idea.
Speaker 7 (08:51):
It's incredible. Like if I accused her of cheating, that's
just an instant fight, whether she did it or not.
Yeah no, but yeah, accusing her of murdering a strain
if she didn't murder someone, like, how where are you
supposed to even go from that?
Speaker 3 (09:06):
Yeah, she'll totally trust Let's.
Speaker 7 (09:09):
Like, accidental dance happen all the time.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
Have you killed someone before me? Why are you so
happy about it?
Speaker 5 (09:15):
Sorry, let's not even get into it. And frankly, I
don't think we should give any more advice after this,
So let's just let's dial Adrian for you. Hopefully she
answers our number.
Speaker 7 (09:26):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 5 (09:27):
I would take a deep breath before you do this.
Try to go in with a level head. But we
got your back. If you need us, I'm gonna dial
it right now.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Here we go.
Speaker 7 (09:39):
Well, uh, hey, it's it's me. How are you?
Speaker 8 (09:52):
Who are you?
Speaker 7 (09:53):
What?
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Like?
Speaker 8 (09:54):
Whose son are you calling?
Speaker 7 (09:55):
Son? It's just like you haven't really been responding to me, so,
like I kind of figured maybe a different number would
maybe get me the opportunity to talk to you, because,
like I haven't seen you, and like, I'm your boyfriend,
so why won't you talk to me?
Speaker 8 (10:15):
Yeah? Sorry, I am just kind of in the middle
of something right now though, but.
Speaker 7 (10:22):
Oh, like okay, like I'm sorry about I have like
a miss you, like again, you just haven't talked to
me all week, and like usually when you like it's
got to be the trip, right because usually you come
back and I get to hear about like what you've done,
and I just haven't. You haven't said anything about it,
and I just don't know what's going on, So if
(10:45):
you could please talk to me.
Speaker 8 (10:48):
I don't.
Speaker 7 (10:50):
Like you went on a trip for a weekend. You left,
like we were talking, we were having fun, and now
you're back and I haven't heard a word about anything
that like me anything for a week now. So what happened?
Speaker 8 (11:04):
Okay? You just first of all, calm this down, please, Okay,
So let's start there. Let's take a story. Okay, Well,
things happen, things change, So.
Speaker 7 (11:22):
I'm not gonna yell, but what things I because like
I talked to your friends and they said that you
should be the one to tell me about it, and
that makes me worried.
Speaker 8 (11:36):
You should not be talking to my friends.
Speaker 7 (11:40):
Do you even hear yourself right now? Like, I'm friends
with them too? Who who are you? I don't really
feel like Adrian to me right now.
Speaker 8 (11:50):
No, I'm someone who realizes they're worse.
Speaker 7 (11:53):
Actually, what does that mean? Are you mad at me?
Did I do something? Like? Please? Just tell me? Please?
Speaker 8 (12:03):
What is going on? It's nothing he did?
Speaker 7 (12:09):
Okay? Well, if you're not gonna tell me, your friends,
won't say I'm worried you did something you regret.
Speaker 8 (12:18):
I never cheated on you, if that's what you're implying,
not once?
Speaker 7 (12:23):
Wait what hold on? No it wasn't. I Oh what happened?
Speaker 8 (12:28):
Okay, okay, I'll tell you this. There was another guy
on the trip who did pay a lot of attention
to me.
Speaker 7 (12:35):
Okay, I like, like, do I know him?
Speaker 8 (12:40):
No, he's kind of famous.
Speaker 7 (12:44):
What are you talking about? Famous?
Speaker 8 (12:47):
Sort of? Well it was two seasons ago. She was
on the Bachelorette.
Speaker 7 (12:54):
Okay, okay, so so.
Speaker 9 (12:56):
What So he flirted with me, m and it just
made me question things like if I settled and am
I dating down?
Speaker 1 (13:11):
God?
Speaker 8 (13:11):
She was like ripped?
Speaker 5 (13:13):
Oh god, ok yeah, Mick, have her finished that sentence?
Speaker 8 (13:20):
Who are the other people listening? Are you on speaker
with people nobody.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
She's very susceptible.
Speaker 7 (13:28):
So you're dating down.
Speaker 5 (13:29):
Hold on, Mick, hold on, hold on. Let let's help
Adriane understand what's going on here. So you're on the radio.
This is called an awkward Tuesday phone call. The reason
Mick is on with us is because he was worried
about your behavior after you got back from the girl's trip.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
And apparently it was for good reason that he is concerned.
Speaker 7 (13:48):
So like nothing else happened, that was it.
Speaker 8 (13:51):
I told you and I wouldn't do that. I'm not
that girl. I'm not I'm not a cheater.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Okay, one step shy. That's kind of nice. But she
didn't do it.
Speaker 7 (14:00):
Creating down, that's like the part I can't get over.
Speaker 8 (14:03):
I said, I said dating down, question mark. I was
asking myself, am I I wasn't saying that as a
statement or that I decided that. I'm just thinking about it.
I'm being honest with you. You wanted honestly, I'm being
honest with you.
Speaker 7 (14:17):
Okay, but you get how that would suck.
Speaker 5 (14:19):
Right, like to hear you totally. But on her side, Mick,
a famous person flirted with her, and you could understand
how that might change your mindset.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Right, guy is not famous. I could guarantee you could
tell us his name, and there's no way anyone in
any room would ever know what he is. He's the
villain of the show too.
Speaker 7 (14:38):
You don't even know always the hottest, but can you
even remember how many rounds he made? It?
Speaker 8 (14:43):
Or like, I'm not talking about him. I'm not talking
about him, not with these people on the phone.
Speaker 5 (14:48):
Okay, we just have to focus more on Adrian. So
your mind is you're questioning where you're at in your relationship, right, which.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
Is a normal experience at the one year mark. That's true,
Bachelorette contestant be damned.
Speaker 5 (15:00):
But at the same time, Ajian, you still are in
this relationship with Mick. You've been together a year. He
deserves some communication.
Speaker 7 (15:07):
Absolute said, yeah, and I miss you. I want to
see you. I feel like if we could see each
other and talk this out, things could just be different.
Speaker 5 (15:15):
And he was talking to a normal tone of voice too
about that.
Speaker 8 (15:21):
This is like so much. Okay, look, we can still
date and like hang out and whatever. But I'm I
just have to be totally honest with you. But I've
been thinking and I do really want to be on
a reality TV show, And this week I've been submitting
(15:44):
audition tapes.
Speaker 7 (15:52):
So he convinced you to get into his line of work.
Is that what you're talking about?
Speaker 2 (15:58):
Is that what we are considering it now?
Speaker 3 (16:00):
All right?
Speaker 5 (16:00):
We are running out of time here, mixed. So at
the end of the day, are you okay with still
seeing Adrian while she pursues her reality fame?
Speaker 7 (16:10):
Don't do that, man, all right, Look, Adrian, I really
like you. I'm sorry I haven't told you this yet,
but like, I love you.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
Oh that was the first time you said that.
Speaker 8 (16:26):
Oh buddy, let's just like, we need to take a breather.
We need to take a break and just see like, yeah, that's.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
A good idea.
Speaker 5 (16:34):
Let's go to break right now and let's all breathe.
Commercial break coming up right after this. Man, Nick Man,
I wish you the best, but I would recommend you
don't watch ABC at eight pm weeknights.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
That's Eastern time, that's Central.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
I think, just don't watch it. Man, I'm not gonna okay,
good man.
Speaker 8 (16:55):
Are freaking Jeffrey in the morning.
Speaker 5 (16:57):
I don't even know what to say about that other
than that was crazy.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Well, yeah, that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
That's why the producers are going to pick her for
reality shows.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
She was just the right level of Yes.
Speaker 5 (17:10):
You think it's still a long shot that she gets
cast onto some like Love is Blind or Hookup Hotel show.
But I guess you're right. The more unhinged the better
for TV.
Speaker 7 (17:21):
It is.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
It's good for him because the person always goes viral.
That's like, Hey, they were dating me when they went
on the show.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
They let's say that she does get cast and her
girlfriends from that trip have a big viewing party. He's
definitely watching the TV from the bushes, and not only
doing that, he's actually rooting for her to win.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
What do you mean she doesn't get the final rows. Yes,
she deserved it.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
If your girlfriend is on the Bachelorette, you do want
to at least do well.
Speaker 5 (17:48):
Yeah, boyfriend, I don't know if that one worked out
or if it didn't work out.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
I don't know if to call it a success or not.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
We got the truth, we did, and that that's the success.
Speaker 5 (18:01):
