Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's recording. I have a seven minutes already of nonsense.
I have eight minutes of thirty one seconds of bullshit.
Read that iron our nightcouts, and I'm not wearing the bra.
My boobies are running the table. You can't see start
on a video. Okay, you got it. I'm not I
need a handcuft I just said the same thing. I

(00:22):
had a complaint I'd suffer in Silent Rida. Today, we're
gonna do a bonus episode because people love this podcast
so much, so we're gonna give them a little bit more.
And not only are we going to give them more,
we're gonna introduce them to the creator behind this whole
fabulous podcast, the Inimitable Narrow Post. I don't even know

(00:44):
how to follow up with that, and I hope I
can keep up with my girls. You know, my big
casting was I put Michael Caine into cider House Rules,
which humidated his career, all right. And I had put
Gwyneth Paltrow and Emma, which was before Shakespeare and Love.
I have a bunch of other casting coups that I've had,
and you, guys, I don't know. I think you might

(01:04):
be my greatest find oh, Ellen, Wow, Ellen, we gotta
we need go sho. We gotta be that Michael kay contracts. Okay, listen, girls,
Before we get into it, I want to share some
exciting news. We've been renewed. We're gonna have Hey, my,

(01:27):
I mean it makes sense. It's been such a hit
and people have been loving it so much. It's terrific.
Ellen's news. Oh my god, what do you think? Great?
You tell me first what you think. I'm excited beyond words. Listen,
I became a celebrity. I don't want to give up
the status. I mean, girls, just hope I make another

(01:49):
six months. That's all I'm telling you. We're rushing into production.
We've told them my talent is ninety years old. I
don't have a lot of time to wait. Go see
you navn do why? But I'm ready. We are thrilled
to be in the show. Marrow. How did you get
the idea? I've always drawn from my personal life for

(02:10):
the material that I've created, and for this show. It
was based on the crazy antics of my mother. She's
the person dancing naked on the terrorists while there's a snowstorm.
My daughter and my niece had created an Instagram account
called elly Grammy Graham, which means I love you Grammy Graham,
and it was popular amongst my kids, friends and my friends.

(02:33):
I started to think, well, if they're enjoying it, I
bet you they would want to hear from other grandmothers exactly.
Your mother's episode was one of my absolute favorites. I
really feel like I know her. Ellen. When you first
heard that you got the gig, who was the first
person that you told? And what did you say? How
did you explain it? I called my daughter at Her

(02:54):
response was no way, Mom, she says, I'm getting on
the phone right now sending out emails. What is it
coming out? She was so excited, she says, Oh, Mom,
she says, no matter what happens, it's something to do
during this terrible year, because I really I haven't seen
my kids and since last April. And how did you

(03:15):
receive the materials for the recording? And what did you
think when you got them? Well? I know what a
headset is. I mean, I have grandchildren, I see them
with it on all the time. But I have to
be honest. I had to send my phone over to
my grandson so he could create the dropbox. But once
you do it once, It's like riding a bicycle. You
do it? What what do you do it? I still

(03:37):
fall off a bite? So what do you do? First
of all, I didn't even know that I Heart was
sending us equipment. I get this box in the nail.
Oh what, I didn't order anything. I opened it up.
I don't know there's a black thing that you put
this phone on. I didn't know what the hell that
whole thing was about. So who do I call? Poor Rachel?

(03:58):
That polone? If that the third podcast? I finally got it.
That's not bad. We have six so far. Three that's
not too bid. And now I know I've been asked
so many times, how did we script your response your conversations.
I don't think people realize that we would just play
you the episode when it was all edited and finished,

(04:19):
so that you didn't get us hear anything beforehand. Even
your own episodes, you didn't get to hear beforehand. So
the first time you heard your episode was when you
did the commentary. It was just sort of stream of
consciousness exactly. You know, we heard something and it ignited
something in one of us, and we just took off
from there and we don't know. When we're together, never

(04:40):
have a moment when we can't think of something to say. Yeah,
I think it's amazing Ellen. I have to say that
we were able to extemporaneously discuss these things, and one
thing left to another. Many times we were laughing at
when it brought up. Ellen goes into her stories that
she has, and I think if it was scripted, you

(05:01):
would get the feeling that it was scripted, plus the
factoria that you and I are good friends, and so
that's a big thing, ain't true. You sort of know
what to expect to come out of my mouth, and
I never know what to expect to come out I'm
just gonna say, yeah, we don't know what's gonna come
out of Reda's mouth. But girls, you know it's not
offensive that you know, and it's not dirty. I never
said the words shop or anything like. So, girls, how

(05:27):
are you enjoying your new found fame? I'm telling I'm
getting respect I never planned on. I am hearing from
people that I forgot that I knew was that you
wanted today. So, oh my god, oh my god. My
son says to me, you know that four million people
listen to the Today Show who would imagine at this
age what we're doing. I mean, maryl, thank you you

(05:49):
gave us a life we never expect that. I really
mean it. And I have to say that the hosts
could not have been more welcoming or more everybody. Thank
you way that they're giving this whole little life and
we're enjoying it together together together. That's the best part
about friendship. I haven't spoken to you guys about it,
but how was your experience on the Today Show? It

(06:12):
was a very out of body experience, it really was.
And to sit and watch myself on the Today So
I have looked at that linked ten times already. I
keep looking at it. I do too, and I can't
believe it's me. The kids are very excited with this.
My eleven year old granddaughter calls me all the time.
Do you want to know what the stats are? Now? Nana?

(06:33):
I went on and you're in the eighth place here,
and I said, how do you know that? I look
it up, Nana, I do it every day. Yeah. Seeing
a climb up the charts was a wild experience. The kids,
they're very proud. I'm telling you all. So what are
you hoping people will get out of the podcast. Hopefully
this podcast will awaken the young people to say that,

(06:55):
you know, there's something in a relationship to a grandmother.
I only think this is gonna make a big change,
well in this particular climate, when this past year has
been so awful for everybody. Everybody needs a grandma. It's
a mess for that we're doing. That's right at those

(07:16):
people that don't have a grandma are adopting us. I
think it's the grandchildren who are not that close to
the grandmother. If they listen to all our podcasts, I
guarantee you they'll get on the phone and call their grandmother.
There's no way you can't. That's very true. That's very
very true. And people have been loving it so much,

(07:38):
beyond excited to do it again next season. Okay, so
it's the concept gonna be the same, the same concept.
It's gonna be you guys hosting, but we're gonna have
a diverse group of grandmothers with grandchildren. I think that's
terrific and I know some grandmothers who would be fabulous
for this. Now that we've heard the exciting news about

(08:02):
a second season, the producers have given us a note
to read to our listeners, I wonder what this could be. Okay,
in season one, we focused our Jewish grandmothers, and now
we're opening it up to all grandmothers and we want
to hear from you. So, do you know a grandmother
and a grandchild who you think would be perfect for

(08:23):
Call your Grandmother. We want to hear from unique grandmothers
with big personalities and great stories who have particularly loving
and close relationships with the treasured grandchild. Anyone who would
like to be considered should submit a short cell phone
video and a brief written description of you and your

(08:44):
grandmother to the Call your Grandmother Facebook page. You'll find
more details on how to submit on the Facebook page. Two,
go into Facebook and type in Call your Grandmother podcast
Grandparents Have your Grandchild? Drinna help you. You'll see our
page with the yellow logo. You know, I have a

(09:05):
term of a grandmother and grandchild that I think would
be great for this, But you know what, this is
open for every grandmother and grandchild, right. You don't have
to be Jewish. It's like Levi's Rye Bread used to say,
you don't have to be Jewish to love leaves. So
you don't have to be Jewish. To be. I'd call
your grandmother. That's true. Every grandmother and grandchild has their

(09:26):
own unique relationship. And we're darting to hear from you. Guys.
This made the pandemic for us, and I hope that

(09:46):
the people that listen to it it brings a little
smile on their faith and a little happiness. And that's
our goal. That's our goal, green happiness. That's right, that's right.
We are the Happiness Twins. And I'm not going while
they endemic is on. I go before the pandemic and
I'll think, you know, there's a way you could ice
me up and put me in a Please listen, I

(10:08):
know people in Florida. I think this is a true story.
Husband dared she put him in because she didn't want
to give up the season in Florida. That you buried
him in the season. You've heard that story before. I'm
telling you she must have lived in my building right
right for now, we're signing off, but we can't wait

(10:31):
for season two. Bye, don't forget me by hope to
see you soon. Who could forget your reader
