Speaker 1 (00:00):
Crime alart, hourly update, breaking crime news Now. I'm Jennifer Gould.
A single damning photo tucked away in an iCloud account
has utterly pulverized the defense of a Kansas City man
charge with gunning down a beloved sports reporter in a
horrifying case of road rage. Ruslan Kusnov. Thirty fourth thought

(00:20):
he could have ade justice, but his own digital footprint
and image of him clutching the very murder weapon sealed
his fate in the brutal highway killing of Dennis Sharky Junior.
Here's Platte County prosecuting Attorney Eric Zand at the news conference.
We'll do everything we can, kim Platt County to hold
that man responsible for what he did to Dennis Sharky. Sharky,

(00:44):
a journalist for the Platte County Citizen, was fatally shot
in January around seven pm on Interstate twenty nine near
northwest seventy second Street, just north of Kansas City. Police
initially received a nine to one to one call from
a couple driving behind the two cars. They reported seeing
Hughsknob's gray Hyundai Ailantra at the front with Sharky's twenty

(01:06):
nineteen Chevrolet spark directly behind it. Both come to a
complete stop in the far right lane. The witness then
saw a man emerge from the suspect vehicle holding a gun.
As they sped around these stopped cars, they heard a
single gunshot. Authorities rushed to the scene and found Sharky's
car crashed into a fence. He was unresponsive, suffering from

(01:29):
a gunshot wound. Sharky, a passionate Kansas City Chiefs and
Royals fan who also created the Northland Buzz and covered
sports for the North Kansas City School District, was pronounced
dead at North Kansas City Hospital. The Platte County Sheriff's
Office launched a relentless months long investigation. They sifted through

(01:49):
witness accounts, matched Husknov's car with surveillance videos, and analyzed
cell phone data. A pivotal clue emerged from Sharky's phone,
which ping day nearby cell tower, placing it precisely where
an ATFK nine later sniffed out a crucial nine millimeter shellcasing.

(02:10):
This forensic breakthrough led investigators directly to Hustnov's phone, firmly
placing him at the scene of the execution style slang.
Detectives discovered Hustoff had allegedly shoplifted from a grocery store
on two different occasions. He was also later pulled over
for a traffic violation in March and arrested on an

(02:31):
unrelated charge in June. It was then that cops questioned
him about the January tenth shooting. When grilled, Husnoff denied
owning a gun, but police, armed with irrefutable evidence, confronted
him with that damning iCloud photo showing him gripping a
nine millimeter handgun, though he desperately claimed the weapon belonged

(02:53):
to a friend, describing him only as quote a black
male tattoo artist who worked near the airport end quote.
A subsequent search of his home uncovered a matching nine
millimeters pistol stashed in a bedroom safe. The Kansas City
Police crime lab confirmed it was the precise murder weapon.

(03:14):
Kusnov now faces charges of second degree murder, unlawful use
of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action.
He remains locked up without bond in Platte County jail. Authorities, though,
are still trying to feast together what led up to
the shooting. More crime and justice news. After this, a

(03:36):
Florida man tried weaving an astonishing tale of self defense
after allegedly ambushing his ex mother in law and shooting
her in the head with a homemade gun and attack
prosecutor's brand as a cold blooded, calculated assassination attempt. Belal
Ismal forty nine faces attempted first degree murder charges as

(03:58):
evidence unmasked a mister plot that left a woman fighting
for her life. Here's the judge at his preliminary hearing.
Take a listen, very violent. He shot the victim and
the head. The bullet traveled down her throat and ended
in her absine. According to Miami Gardens Police, Ismael allegedly

(04:18):
crept into his ex mom in law's home, cut the
internet wires to disable security cameras, and crouched low enough
to avoid detection. Armed with a makeshift firearm, he then
fired a single shot in her head, leaving her in
critical condition. Officer Gary Florencio testified that the victim, a

(04:38):
woman in her sixties, recalled Ismael pointing the crude weapon
at her and uttering a Spanish expletive before that shot
rang out. Ismael's defense team claims though he acted purely
in self defense, alleging the victim attacked him first, but
prosecutors shredded this narrative, highlighting Ismael's meticulously planned actions. The

(05:00):
victim's daughter, Claudia Kintero, Ismael's estranged wife, also delivered devastating testimony.
She revealed their abusive relationship ended in August and Ismael
had been relentlessly stalking her ever since, even planting four
GPS trackers on her car. Caintero chillingly told the court
she's afraid for her life, the life of her children

(05:22):
and other family members, and added Ismael knew her mom
would be home alone that fateful day. Ismael himself admitted
the police he did have intense disputes with his ex
mother in law. He claimed she was trying to get
her daughter to leave him for quote unquote someone better,
like a doctor, end quote, and that she had pushed
him out after his money was gone. After fleeing the

(05:46):
scene of the shooting, Ismael was caught the very next
day after a brief police pursuit. After the testimony, Ismael,
who was hoping to be put on house arrest, was
denied bond and remanded in custody until trial. Convicted, he
faced his life behind bars. And finally, two Ohio men,

(06:06):
Colin Deca twenty and Jack Klamer twenty one just got
their wings clipped, arrested for felony theft after allegedly nabbing
a giant flamingo statue. Now this isn't just any bird
brain crime. This beloved pink icon was purchased for the
town of Parma in honor of a little girl with autism.

(06:27):
Talk about foul play. The statue was yanked from its
concrete pad, leaving behind just one lonely little foot Seriously tops,
though they did not flock around. Surveillance video caught a
white Ford escape and detectives quickly tracked that car back
to one of the suspect's sons. Both Valley View men

(06:48):
were collared and thankfully, the feathered friend was safely recovered.
These flamingo felons are set to be arraigned on June
twenty fourth. That will ruffle a few feathers. For the
