Speaker 2 (00:03):
I'm Nicole Parton. Closing arguments in the Karen Reid murder
trial are taking place, with the jury anticipated to commence
their deliberations later in the day. The court session started
at about eight forty five am and after a series
of private discussions, closing arguments started around nine to forty five,
led by defense attorney Alan Jackson.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
The Commonwealth has presented a shred of evidence of when
Karen Reid consumed her last drink that night. Think about that.
It's critical information that the Commonwealth has to prove beyond
a reasonable doubt and to a moral certainty. They have
to prove when her last drink was that night. They
have to prove it. We don't have to prove or

(00:46):
just prove anything. Every single witness who was asked and
who had an opportunity to observe Karen that night said
the same thing. She wasn't drunk, she wasn't stumbling, she
wouldn't learn her words. She was, in the words of
Miscola Keith as completely normal. Even Jennifer McCay grudgingly had
to admit that fact. It's on video.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Both sides are given seventy five minutes to present their
final arguments. Following a break for lunch. Judge Beverly Canoni
is expected to provide the jury with instructions before they
begin their deliberation process. Reid faces charges for allegedly striking
her boyfriend John O'Keefe, a Boston police officer, with her
SUV in twenty twenty two, and leaving him to die

(01:30):
in the elements outside a house party on Fairview Road
in Canton, Massachusetts. Her defense maintains that she is a
victim of an extensive police conspiracy, asserting that O'Keefe was
fatally assaulted by another officer president at the party and
possibly suffered dog bites. A mistrial was declared last year
due to the jury's inability to reach a unanimous decision.

(01:54):
Stay tuned as we provide you updates on the Karen
Reed murder trial, crime and justice news. After this an
Indiana man has reportedly confessed to the shooting deaths of
his new wife and two of her family members, claiming
they were affiliated with a well known drug cartel. Patrick Wait,

(02:17):
seventy seven, faces three charges of murder and attempted murder
stemming from the incident on May twenty nine, which escalated
from a dispute with his wife, Alma Wait sixty one,
regarding the ownership of their home in Indiana. Authorities revealed
that Weight called nine one one, admitting to police, I
shot them all. I'm certainly not proud of the fact

(02:39):
at all. Police reports indicate that Alma Waight and her
two relatives, Florida Garcia eighty one and Fernando Ramirez Senior
thirty nine, were shot in the head, while a fourth
victims sustained injuries to the chest and neck but survived.
A child was also present during the shooting and took
cover with other family members, as detailed in the police report.

(03:00):
According to Weight, the confrontation arose over the homes ownership,
which culminated in him shooting his wife in the kitchen.
He later filed a complaint alleging elder abuse against his
dead wife's relatives. The couple, who first connected online, began
living together shortly after meeting and married within five months
without informing Waite's children. Wade claimed that Alma pressured him

(03:24):
to allow her family to move in with them, and
that he was unaware of their alleged connections to criminal gangs,
including a famous cartel. The complaint further states that Alma
blocked communication from her husband's children and grandchildren after his
daughter attempted to warn him about her character, calling her
a con Waite's attorneys argue that Alma's sons engaged in

(03:47):
violent behavior, including physical abuse against children and threats against
his life. They alleged that she cohearsed him into signing
a document that he believed would add her name to
the deed, but instead it removed his no name from
his home deed altogether. The complaint also claims that Alma
transferred the property to her daughter's name to prevent weight

(04:08):
from claiming any rights if they were to separate. Less
than a day before Alma's death, the house was reportedly
listed for sale as cash only. A judge has since
intervened to halt the cell of the property, according to
court documents. For now, the man is being held without
bond and now to Georgia, where police need your help
in locating a missing man. The Swanee Police Department is

(04:30):
searching for a missing man with intellectual disability. A release
from the department says Byron Gregory Park's, age twenty, was
last seen on Thursday at the Artesian Station apartments that's
on Scale's Road in Sewanee around eleven thirty pm. He
is believed to have left that initial location. Byron is
