Crime Alard hourly update, breaking crime news Now, I'm Nicole Parton.
A judge has ruled a Kentucky woman charged in her
mother's murder is able to stand trial. Torrolina Fields was
deemed competent to stand trial following a competency hearing on
November fourteen. According to court records, Fields was arrested in

(00:20):
October when she was accused of killing her mom, Trudy Fields,
after a man discovered a gruesome scene at their home
on Briarly Ridge Road. The man, who was doing work
on the property for Field's mom, found drag marks in
the backyard, blood stained mattresses, a dismembered body, and a

(00:41):
girl covered in blood. When Kentucky State Police arrived on
the scene, they found Fields alone inside the home with
blood on her face, hands, and clothing. Kentucky State Troopers
said more body parts were found cooking in a pot
inside the home, as well as body parts in the oven.
Fields is charged with murdering her mother, abuse of a corpse,

(01:04):
tempering with physical evidence, and obstructing governmental operations. Her next
court hearing is scheduled for December eighth. War Crime and
Justice News after this, a Michigan woman is facing serious
charges after allegedly assaulting her fourteen year old daughter with autism,

(01:26):
claiming she no longer wanted the child. Vanjie Renee Averhart,
thirty seven, is charged with the murder of her daughter,
Kylie Clark, who passed away at a hospital in the
Detroit area. According to prosecutors, Kylie suffered blood forced trauma
to the back of her head, an injury that likened

(01:46):
to the impact of a severe car accident. As reported
by Metro Detroit News, Averhart provided multiple inconsistent explanations for
her daughter's injuries, initially stating that Kylie choked on a
samwe then on a banana, and even attempted to blame
her boyfriend, who was not present during the incident and
who successfully passed a light detector test. According to the

(02:09):
same report, prosecutors revealed that Kylie, who was nonverbal, was
confined to a locked room. Allegedly, her mother had expressed
to others that she didn't want this child anymore. Child
Protective Services had previously looked into Averheart on several occasions
due to concerns regarding Kylie's well being. Family members informed

(02:31):
local NBC affiliate WDIV that Kylie sustained her injuries at
home on July seven and died from them just five
days later. Kylie's mother has lied about nearly everything from
the beginning. She's just despicable, remarked her paternal great uncle
Jeffrey Clark. It's her flesh and blood. How could you

(02:51):
not want your child? And I suppose that she now
is blaming everyone else, he continued. Averhart is currently held
at the Wayne County Jail without bond. Our next court
appearance is set for November twenty six. And finally, sad
news coming out of Virginia. The Virginia Department of Corrections
has released the name of a corrections officer killed in

(03:12):
a prison attack on Monday morning. Jeremy Lewis Hall, he
was just forty, died at a hospital nearby. Officer Hall
had been an employee with the va DOC since April
twenty five, twenty twenty four. Our agency, the Commonwealth of Virginia,
and corrections professionals around the nation join us in mourning
the loss of Officer Hall, said VA DOC Director Chad Dodson.

(03:37):
Our hearts continued to be with Officer Hall's family, friends,
and his fellow public safety heroes at River North. Two
additional officers were treated at a nearby hospital following the attack.
VA DOC says an inmate at River North in Independence
is responsible for the attack, which occurred around seven fifty
three am on November seventeen. The suspects name has not

(04:01):
been released. For the latest crime injustice news, follow Crime
