As we come to the close of the year it is a great time to reflect and examine the changes we intend to make moving forward. Devi concentrates on four areas of intention to encourage; how you are relating to your personal intimacy, your professional life, the structure of your home, and your understanding of self and/or a specific topic. Consider taking the time to prepare for the change you want to see. Continued blessings to all of our listeners in the New Year. Thank you.

Thousands they said you would come. Dropping Hey, Welcome back

(01:12):
to another episode of the Dropping Gem's podcast. I'm your host,
Debbie Brown. We are almost at the New Year, everyone,
and I was recording this episode this week and my
intention was to have a special meditation, but I received
a d M recently asking for more and more and

(01:32):
more New Year's content, so I thought this would be
the perfect time to share some of my personal practices
with you of how I like to prepare, especially in
the last few days of the new year, some stuff
that I'm thinking about, some stuff that I'm doing, and
some tools that might be useful for you as you
prepare to really open yourself and open your heart to

(01:55):
whatever it is that you uniquely are looking to create, make,
manifest and release in this next year of three. So
we're in the sweet spot. I've shared this before on
the show, but this is actually my absolute favorite time
of year, this void moment where we are kind of

(02:16):
straddling two worlds. We are still in the thick of
or the end of two and we are already kind
of open and imagining. For many of us, depending on
the industry that you work in or how your days
um how you quantify your days, this is often kind

(02:37):
of a low week for a lot of people, even
if you have to go into the office. It's a
little bit like kind of like you know, you're a
little more casual, a little more throwaway of a week,
and for many the industry is shut down until after
the first so it is a nice little d n
D time, but it's also a time to do some
really intentional house cleaning um inside of yourself and in

(02:59):
your home. This is the time of year where I
head to the Baja with my family, so I spent
a lot of time in Cabo, a lot of time
in the Baja of Mexico. And where I am right
now as I'm recording this podcast, I am looking out
at the Sea of Cortez. I had an incredible meditation

(03:24):
this morning, just alone on the beach. And this time
of year where I am is the time of year
that is called whales season. So I see a lot
of whales off in the distance with their babies. Usually
it's a mama with their baby coming to the warm
waters before they head back to the arctic um in

(03:47):
several months. But it's just kind of starting, it's just
kicking off. So every day I've been seeing, you know,
maybe an extra whale or two, and I've had the
beautiful chance to just walk them kind of play in
the water off of the water, the moms and the babies.
They splash each other, they breach the water, which means
they jump up um sometimes just a big arm flap

(04:11):
or a big flap of their tails, or sometimes it's
their entire body, and it's a really special time for
me to connect with nature, to release my thought, to
release my years, um, to release this last year. I
should say my thoughts over this last year, and to

(04:31):
also just open and surrender um, and notice and observe
what choices we're really meaningful for me this year? UM?
What choices could I have done differently? Maybe? Uh? Was
there a higher choice to come into for a higher outcome?
I journal a lot in this week of the year,

(04:53):
a lot every day I am journaling. I'm reflecting on
my journal entries of the last calendar year. It's a
time where I like to dream a little bit more
and intentionally think of ways UM that I want to
grow myself and grow my life. And for me that
has become very inextricably linked with whale Susan. I've been

(05:18):
coming here um at this time of year for about
the last four or five years, and so being with
the ocean in this way, being with the sand, with
just the very particular and beautiful flow of the Baja,
which is a lot of resilient desert and cacti meets ocean, um,

(05:38):
and being able to see the whales at play. It's
a very humbling feeling. It's feeling that reminds me both
how small I am in the grand scheme of the
universe and of the life in this world, but also
how miraculous I am as a human being, um, how

(05:59):
miraculous this human experiences, how miraculous God is. So that
is what is kind of brewing inside of me right
now and where I am. And I wanted to share
a few, just a few thoughts as you sit in
this sacred space between worlds and prepare for mm hmm,

(06:22):
a year that will feel meaningful. I'm gonna go through
about four different pillars that I like to think of
in this time of the year. So I want to
invite everyone to consider having a notebook handy or you know,
just making little notes if anything resonates um or feels
useful for you, and otherwise maybe just allow yourself to

(06:46):
take this podcast and a walk with you, to go
sit down and ground on the ground, on the grass
and soil, maybe take your shoes off, and maybe just
kind of track what I'm saying and notice where it
lands in your body, to you, where it lends in
your life, how it feels. This episode is titled Prepare

(07:21):
for the change that you want. So very often, so
many of us go into the new year with that
kind of societal motivation. It's not really a deeply rooted,
grounded um motivation. Always a lot of the time it's
about measuring or about, you know, doing things in the
way society has prescribed, like make your resolutions, what are

(07:44):
you gonna do for next year, make your vision board,
make your goals, you know all of that, and it's great, right,
But the deeper we can go with our intention, the
better outcome, the higher outcome. So this time of year, um,
astrologically speaking, it's not really charged with a lot of energy.
It's kind of more of a lull um. March is

(08:05):
the astrological new year, and we just kicked off one
of the most powerful days of the years last week
with the winter solstice. That has a lot of energetic charge,
which is why a few episodes ago I really encouraged
everyone to get started with some of this process of
intention setting for the new year in November and December,
because that's when we're coming out of um some big

(08:27):
eclipse energy and we're coming into the solstice and we
just had a new moon, so there's just a little
more charge for intentions, but anytime it's a great time.
So I want to talk with you about preparing for
that change that you want to see. We're days away
from the new year, um the first month. We still
have so much freedom, so whenever you're catching this episode,

(08:49):
it's perfect, but I want you to start thinking of
some of your intention setting, or you might use the
terminology goal setting for this new year under four specific
pillars that I really enjoy using for myself. This is
kind of how I measure and I plan and I
intend personally. So first you want to think, you want

(09:15):
to get rooted and grounded. You want to really sit
with yourself in silence in a way that you were
releasing control of your thoughts and just connecting to the
universal flow. So getting grounded, creating some space to think,

(09:36):
some space to then release thoughts and thinking, and some
space to just open to receive that aligned flow from
the universe. And then after you kind of do that
step with a pen and a paper handy, I want
you to really workshop what we're going to be talking about.

(09:59):
So the four is that you should be focusing on
right now for this practice, and I'll say them a
couple of times, and I'll try to say it slowly.
The first category is personally your personal life. The way
that I kind of describe what personal means, personal is really,

(10:21):
in many ways, your internal experience. When I use that
term personally, personal should account for the internal life that
you're living, your internal experience, how regulated you feel, how
you're connecting to your emotions, how you're connecting to your physicality,

(10:45):
how you're connecting to your past, how you're connecting to
your intimacy, how you're connecting to some of those deeper
unseen parts of yourself that you tend to kind of
turn ruin your life, or maybe have a lot of
rumination over a lot of thought around the creating a

(11:09):
section for the ways that you want to expand personally.
What do you want to expand what do you want
to release personally this year? And take just a moment here,
will spend a couple of minutes in this spot, and

(11:30):
I want you, if you have a pen and paper handy,
to go ahead and write some things down. If you don't,
I want you to just close your eyes and come
into a more meditative stance here and begin to explore
how are you relating to yourself? Personally, the intimacy you

(11:56):
have with you in whatever ways you relate to that
word m. The intimacy you have with others, specifically that
kind of first and second tier of people in your
close life, in your close contacts, some family members, perhaps

(12:18):
um the most trusted of friends that would fall into
your personal category. How are you relating to your personal
life right now? How are you relating to your emotional life?

(12:38):
How are you relating to your thoughts of the past
or any pains, any challenges that maybe you have been
brewing over for some time. Yeah, and now release the

(13:27):
thought you're having there, and now I want you to
envision the kind of change you'd like to experience in
whatever areas were coming up for you, and really try
to route these changes and things that can be experienced

(13:49):
and done by you. We don't want to put too
much weight on any areas that are requiring cooperation from
another person, because that's not necessarily something we can ever
control or truly bank on. Right. We can only really
count on our own reactions and responses, on our own choices. So,

(14:14):
sitting here for a moment and think of the changes
you want to see in that particular area of personal

(14:53):
and now really connecting to your intuition, M, what are
some things that you can do to prepare in the
next few days before this year starts to make whatever
those intended changes are real, tangible and true in your life?

(15:14):
What prep work needs to be done? There are there
any unfinished conversations that could be had? Now, you don't
want to get too far into three carrying loads from two.
So what can you release? What can you finish? What
can you complete? What are some cycles that can close

(15:40):
or conversations that can be concluded. What is some work
in your life on that personal level that you can
maybe just make peace with and say, I don't want
to do this right now, I'll revisit this later, or
I'm really going to dive into this now. Just notice

(16:18):
and if you can just drop down a couple of notes,
you can return to it later, expand on it later,
reread it later. Does not have to be perfect, just
needs to be true whatever feels the most true. All right.
So that was one that was the personal category of

(16:39):
our lives. Now the second piece that we want to
get into to really begin to prepare for the change
that we want. It's thinking about a professional bucket now
for something that can mean professional if you feel rooted
in your purpose or in a career or in something
that you're doing. Um for others, this could be a

(17:00):
space of divine aspiration. What are you intending? Where do
you want to expand who do you want to be
and become in your working life and in the working world.
But thinking about your professional life, we want to go
through those same steps. So just kind of anchor in
here and allow yourself to just kind of take stock

(17:22):
of that professional category for just a moment and kind
of come up with here, how are you relating to
your professional life whatever that word means to you, whatever
it is that you happen to do or want to do,
or whatever you may be seeing as something you are

(17:43):
not doing. However you're relating to that, I want you
to just notice it, observe it, connect to it, maybe
right down a few words bullet point in your mind's
I a few thoughts that you can return to. How

(18:05):
do you relate to your professional life as it stands?
How do you relate to whatever you're working life in
the world consists of as it stands? And now come

(18:28):
in and think, what is it that you'd like to
experience in your professional life, in your working world life
would you like to experience over the course of this
next year. What are some things you want to know?
What are some ways you want to stretch and grow?

(18:51):
How are you relating h and now what are some
things that you can do to prepare for the change

(19:12):
that you may want to see have experience in your
professional life, your life that is in the working world.
How can you prepare more for those changes? Is it
creating a high intentional list? Is it the completion of projects?

(19:39):
Is it the conversation you'd like to have with someone
in your working space? Is it creating more time to
work on things that you are more passionate about. Is
it creating more time to gather new skills in an
area that you'd like to have more refined in your
professional miller working world life? Just start to drop down. Now,

(20:07):
what are some ways that you can actually show up
and create structure for the change that you want to
experience in that particular category or bucket of your life?
And just sit there for a second ride and that

(20:44):
okay and releasing that there and now we're going to
come into a space where we begin to observe what
does our home life look like. And in this moment,
by home life, I don't necessarily mean family or children

(21:06):
or spouse, but if that feels really relevant for you,
please lean into it. When I say home, I really
mean the structure that you were currently living in. You know, Um,
I'm in the middle of doing a home renovation at
my house and it's been a really incredible experience. I've

(21:27):
been just very intentional in each room with the ways
that I want to position things, the kind of energy
I'd like to invite in. And so when you kind
of think of your space, just take stock of it.
How are you relating to where you live right now?
How are you relating to the flow of where you reside?

(21:51):
How are you relating to the things that are in
the container that you reside in? And just notice, And
there are to be some things that, just for whatever reasons,
are not possible to change right now. And that's okay too.
We're just noticing. We're not saying that change has to
happen in this instant, but we are intending for more.

(22:12):
And so we're looking at ourselves and our lives and
our homes with honest eyes, with open hearts. We're just
noticing we're observing what feels most true. So now think
of your actual physical dwelling, your actual home. Whatever that

(22:32):
looks like. Um, if it is, in this moment, just
a bed, think of that bed. It's just an area
of a space, think of that. If it is an
entire home that you're in with others or by yourself,
think of that. Whatever that is, it's where you are dwelling.

(22:56):
How do you want to feel when you're home? What
do you want to feel when you're home? How do
you want your home to uniquely support you for your life,
for your needs, for your desires, for the things that
are most useful to you and most meaningful to you.

(23:16):
What do you want home to represent? How do you
want to relate to that word and that experience of
when you're not in the world. And now take a

(23:39):
moment to think of ways that you can prepare for
that change that you want to see in your home life.
What does that change look or feel like, what does
that change represent, and how can you prepare for it?

(24:00):
What are some ways that you can make this more
true for yourself, even if you know a redesign or
new purchases or a different flow, even if that is
not possible. What can you do right now to prepare
for that bigger change at a very core level. For

(24:20):
those that are able, it could look like really tidying
up your space with a lot of intention. Maybe before
the new year starts, you give your home a deep, deep,
deep clean, you know, really scrub all the areas, the
nooks and the crannies, put on a playlist that feels

(24:41):
invocative to you in whatever ways that feels joyful for you,
or maybe even a little tender for you. You know,
maybe while you're cleaning your home you need to have
a good release and have a good cry as you scrub,
or maybe it's more joyful and you're thinking of all
the things that you're inviting into this cleanliness. But having

(25:02):
alignment in your life and all the ways, and having
certain areas where you hold pristine presence for yourself, where
you have good spiritual, physical, emotional hygiene, it's really important
to the flow of being able to manifest those higher desires,
those higher goals. It's really important um to have a base,

(25:25):
the foundation of cleanliness, of clearing of space. Right So,
this is the time of year where sometimes you might
find yourself going through your things, you know, giving some
things away, selling some things, or maybe it's just kind
of intentionally redecorating what the things you have. If there's

(25:47):
something in your bedroom maybe you wanted in your living
space now and vice versa, right like, but walk through
each room of your home with intention or each area,
each corner, and I want you to say, how could
this feel more me? How could this feel better? How
could this feel more spacious, more clean? And take your

(26:10):
time before the new year starts and in that first
month to really bring that to life more for yourself.
The home is such a sacred space. You know, when
you're in bed, you spend the majority of your day
typically in the bed. That's the constant, consistent place that

(26:32):
you find yourself around the same times every single day.
There's a power in that, there's a power in that
presence that you're building in your bed, in your room,
wherever you sit for the majority of the time you
spend at home. So use that energy with intention, build
that out, you know, send something there clear that area.

(26:56):
You know, if you want to connect maybe with your crystals,
if you have some think of what crystals would really
enlive in this area of my home, and it comes
to the living room. I like to have crystals that
are really um grounded and nourishing UM, but also heart opening.

(27:16):
The way that I use my house in the living room,
that's where we're having a lot of conversation, a lot
of get together, is a lot of connection and community.
So I like to have crystals in that room that
really speak to that experience. So think about that with
every area of your house and what they mean to you.

(27:36):
You just come up with a list as it feels comfortable,
preparing for the change you want to see in that space.
The last pillar I have, Now this is very very

(27:58):
specific to me for a sure, UM, but I want
to invite you to think about how this may be
relatable UM or possible in your life. But every year
I think about something I'm curious about or interested in,
and I dedicate my entire year to studying that particular
subject UM. And sometimes by study I mean I've enrolled

(28:22):
in a course or a class and I'm dedicating that
next year or so too being in study with real curriculum.
And sometimes it's about creating curriculum for myself. If I'm
interested in something, it's me kind of saying yeah, I'm
gonna give myself this year to kind of explore this,
get to know this thought, this theory a little bit better.
And so I might you know, go on Amazon or

(28:45):
go to the library and find books related to that subject. Um,
I might you know, really intend that when I have
free time, I'll build out, you know, a day once
a month where I deep dive into whatever that subject
of interest is for me. And that can range, um
I have I'm into a lot um so some years

(29:08):
that could be a deep dive in a very particular
um angle of psychology. Or it could be you know,
me going deeper in my energetic practice and studying some
new systems, or deeper in my meditation practice and trying
on new styles or new mutras for that year. Um.
Or it could also look like, you know, hey, I'm

(29:29):
kind of interested and this is a very real example
which lets you guys know the way that I think
it might be a little nerdy, but I'm very fascinated
by city planning. So it might be me saying, you know,
this next year, I'm really gonna with my free time,
I'm going to think more about that, or look up

(29:50):
more interesting things about how cities have been formed or
you know, different communities have come to be UM. Last
year I found myself in quite a deep dive of that.
I wanted to really spend more time and thought about
ancient civilization and UM, I'm really interested in the thought
process now of how many times have we had to

(30:11):
rebuild humanity? My brain is so exhausted. UM. But what
is that for you? You know? Is that yoga? Is
that breath work? Is that studying creative arts? Is that
studying knitting? Is that you know, um, creating more space
to really paint or do something that feels good and

(30:32):
pleasurable for you. What is something you want to go
deeper into? Is it self study? Is it really you know,
connecting to journaling every every day every week and then
reading back and doing different UM practices with yourself as
it relates to that? But where do you want to grow?
And I don't just mean that in terms of like

(30:54):
the work we do on ourselves very real, tangibly. What
are things that exist in the world old that you
want to know more about, Areas that you want to grow,
that you want to expand, Areas that you would like
to come into mastery of. Where can you gift yourself
more intentional thought, intentional reading, intentional study time. You know,

(31:15):
instead of being led by the trends of the world,
instead of being led by the mainstreams of things that
other people are posting that they're interested in, or whatever
prediction some expert is giving about. You know, what you
should be interested in this year? What are you interested in?
And how can you meet that need for yourself and
expand yourself in that way that feels the most natural,

(31:37):
the most curious, the most nourishing. So that's a thought.
So just to go over those four areas that you
want to consider, and excuse me when we come back
to that steady part. I want you to make a
bullet pointed list, either in your mind's eye or physically
on paper. But how can you prepare or that study?

(32:01):
How can you prepare for that change? If there is
something you want to know more about, is it maybe
taking an hour and getting on Google and saying, is
anybody teaching a class on this? Or is there you know,
a really gifted um person on YouTube that's creating content
around this. And you know, if I look at the
flow of my calendar, if I look at the flow

(32:22):
of my life, when could I fit in more time
to spend time with that thought or subject. Is it
once a month? Do I have two hours on one
Saturday a month? Do I have one day a month?
Do I have a few hours each week? Do I
have twenty to forty minutes each day that I want
to do that and connect to that? But make a list,

(32:43):
start thinking about it. How can you make this real
for you? How can you make this true for you?
How can you create a structure that you feel comfortable
being consistent in? Mm hmm. Just some thoughts that might
feel good to think about. So those four areas that
you can spend these last few days in this first

(33:06):
month thinking about where do you want to prepare for
more change that you want to see in your personal life,
that internal world inside of yourself, in your professional life
or your working life, in your home and in your study,

(33:29):
in the ways that you're growing and enriching yourself, in
your presence. Mm hmm. I hope you spend time with
all four of those. It's something I really love to do,
and I've just found that being really intentional in that
way has stretched my life. It is enhanced my life.

(33:49):
It's created more space for what is true and real
about my unique destiny and myself, so I just encourage
you to consider doing the same. All right, We will
be back next week with another episode. Thank you as
always for joining the show, and I hope this next
year is something that allows you to expand, to see

(34:14):
and experienced miracles that creates more space for joy for yourself.
