Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Fitness Disrupted, a production of My Heart Radio.
I am Tom Holland and this is Fitness Disrupted. Eating clean.
What the heck is that? It's gonna be one of
the quickest bit tips because it's really simple. So you

(00:22):
may have your friend, your bodybuilder friend, your you know,
your fitness friend who tell you that they are eating
clean and you think, what the heck is that? Well,
just take the word clean here you go, replace it
with healthy. I'm eating healthy. But this is one of

(00:44):
those things. It's almost like, yeah, I'm better than you
because I eat clean. It's just healthy people, It's another word.
It just did a show on cycling carbs. If you
missed that one fit tip, listen to that one too.
What does cycling carbs means? I'm taking in more energy
on the days I need it, and I'm taking in
less on the days I don't need it. And if

(01:06):
I want to lose weight, I'm gonna cycle my carbs down.
I'm gonna take in less energy cycling carbs. It's increasing
or decreasing your fuel intake based on your needs and
your goals. Cycling cars makes it sound much better. Same
thing with eating clean, and oftentimes When they say that
and you say, well, what does that mean, Well, I'm
eating real food, now real food. Some people get annoyed

(01:31):
with that. They say, well, food is food, and that's
so elitist. Well, it's just trying to explain it. But
I get it. I get that argument. But again, come on,
ease up. So it's very simple people whole foods, eating clean,
healthy whole foods, minimally processed. Okay, we're talking about whole

(01:51):
foods that are vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans, nuts and seeds,
lean protein. Sounds a lot like my favorite diet, the
Mediterranean diet. We're talking fresh food, nutritious, nutrient dense, nutrient

(02:12):
dense vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants, foods that are super healthy.
You want to call them clean, Never it's like dirty clean,
I don't, I don't know. It's just healthy and healthy
fats too. By the way, we need all of the above,
all of the macro nutrients that's protein, carbohydrate. Generally speaking,

(02:39):
it's things without a label. When I interviewed Jack Colaine
so many years ago, the guy I looked up to
the person when I first and you know, he was
my idol way older than many of you. As far
as like a reference. I know, but he said, if
it comes in it, if man makes it, don't eat
it comes in the bag's probably not as good for you.

(03:01):
Now I'd argue there's some healthy options now, but it's
a great simple rule of thumb. If it has a label,
probably not as healthy as something that doesn't have a way,
but like an apple. Okay. So it's also when they
talk about shopping the perimeter of a supermarket, that's where
the whole foods are. That's where the fresh foods are,

(03:22):
That's where the fruit and vegetables and minimally processed foods are.
Common sense people. It's trying to make something sound better
and make people, you know, put themselves above other people.
Eating clean. It's eight twenty. This is the of the time,
eating whole foods of the time, or and let's say

(03:43):
healthy foods as well of the time, indulging that is
eating clean for the most part. Okay, extremes are are
easier and generally unhealthy. It's balance. So there you have it,
eating clean, eating healthy simple as that. Thank you for listening.

(04:06):
Please subscribe to the podcast Great Interviews more in depth
discussions on topics as well as these short fit tips
and if you want me to tackle any subject, I
love to hear from you. And so many people have
reached out and continue to and I throw all those
questions either into a show or listener mailback right where

(04:29):
I hit and talk about all the questions I've received
so far. How do you do that? Tom h Fit
is Twitter and Instagram for me. Tom h Fit can
also go to fitness disrupted dot com. Thank you for listening.
This is all about busting the myths using science, my
years of experience in all aspects of the industry as
well as being an athlete. My goal is for you

(04:52):
to have your best life. That's it. That's what this
shows about. I want you to look better, feel better,
and live longer, and every single one of you can.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
