Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello there, Welcome, Welcome, my friend. To have a little
faith with Delilah. Here's the thing about faith. If you
have a little faith, just enough to say, God, I believe,
I believe you're there. But I need more faith, I
(00:21):
need more wisdom, I need more understanding, I need more
of you. If you have enough faith to pray that
simple prayer, miracles can happen. Anyone who's ever listened to
this show, my radio show, or these podcasts knows how
much I shout about the power of gratitude. When you
(00:44):
have an attitude of gratitude, and when you add to
that kindness, everything changes. And I will shout that truth
from the rooftop. When you can start look looking at
life through gratitude glasses, everything will change. No matter where
(01:08):
I find myself in life, I know that if I
can accept and love where I am, not where I
think I should be, certainly not where other people think
I should be, then gratitude flows. We are full into
the season of Thanksgiving. For many, that just means turkey stuffing,
(01:30):
sweet potato pie, pumpkin pie, berry pie, apple pie, pie
with ice cream, pie with whipped cream. But gratitude is
more than a beautiful dinner or a big old slice
a pie. It's more than just saying thank you. Real
gratitude is a way of seeing the world and a
(01:54):
mindset that turns whatever we have into enough. And if
you're going through tough times, remembering that these are lessons,
think of it as an advanced college course when you're
going through struggles and ask yourself, what is God trying
to teach me right now? And how can I be
(02:16):
grateful for this lesson? When I focus on gratitude, even
the simplest moments feel rich layered with goodness. Could be
as random as the morning sunlight. I took a video
of the sunrise through the fog this morning because it
(02:38):
was so stink and beautiful. A cup of tea, which
I'm enjoying right now in the studio, a kind word
from a friend. It's not the big events of the
big vacation. It's recognizing what we already have. It's cherishing
(03:00):
every single moment of the day. It's a practice. The
more you practice gratitude, the happier you will become. In
today's show, I have several conversations with wonderful people, But boy,
this next call, this first call, just grew my heart
(03:22):
like my heart felt like it was growing in my chest.
Remember the Grinch how his heart grew. This is a
little guy named Max. I'm not sure if I've ever
been more touched by such a gentle and sincere soul.
I'd love to talk to Max's mom or dad and say, man,
(03:43):
did he did he come this amazing into the universe?
Or did you help foster this, encourage this? Here's Max
to share a lesson in gratitude right now. Hi, good evening.
Welcome to the Delilah Shit. Who oh who is this?
Speaker 2 (04:02):
I am Max and I am eleven years old.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Hi Max, I'm Delilah and I'm sixty five years old.
I got a few years on y yeap? What can
I do for you? Max? Who's eleven?
Speaker 2 (04:14):
I wanted to say something to you.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
I'm listening. What do you want to tell me?
Speaker 3 (04:18):
You know when you say you're here to warm people's hearts.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
That's what I try to do every night. I try
to share love and grace and positive comments to let
people know they're not alone.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
Yep, you really do warm way heart.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Thank you, You're welcome. Are you in fifth grade or
sixth grade?
Speaker 2 (04:41):
I am in sixth grade.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
And are you like one of those really good students
who excels at math or science.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
I am a homeschooler, so you are.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
One of those really good students that excels because most
kids who are homeschooled are like decades ahead of other kids.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Yeah, And does mom do the homeschooling or do you
have a tutor that helps.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
My mom is the main teacher, and I go to
kat Kalmazoo Area tutoring and I take you a couple
of classes there.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
I think homeschooling is awesome, and I wish I were
better at it, yeah, because I have five kids right
now that are in school, and I wish that I
had the capacity to do that, but I don't. I've
done it in the past and I just wasn't good
at it.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Yeah, but that's fine.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
That's fine. They're doing great and they love going to
their school and it's a very small school so they
get lots of one on one And I'm doing great
because I get to do my job and then spend
my days loving on my kids. So life is good.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Yeah, it's very special that I get to call you.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
It's very special I get to talk to you. You
sound like an amazing young man. You sound like the
kind of person that I would love to come and
have be friends with my kids.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
And I love animals.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Ah, you had love my farm. Do you know how
many animals I have on my farm? Acts?
Speaker 2 (06:15):
How many animals?
Speaker 1 (06:16):
I have no idea, I would have to count them,
but probably one hundred and twenty one hundred and fifty.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
You have a lot of animals. And I have a horse.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
I rode my horse today. What kind of horse do
you have?
Speaker 2 (06:29):
I have a half Arab, half paint so.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
It's beautiful, but also likes to go fast.
Speaker 5 (06:36):
He is.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Calm Arab. Never heard of.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
This half Arab going half paint.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
So the paint got the calmness? Did the paint get
the beauty? Is it?
Speaker 4 (06:48):
Is?
Speaker 1 (06:48):
It very colorful?
Speaker 2 (06:51):
He's beautiful?
Speaker 1 (06:53):
And do you ride? Do you ride Western or English?
Speaker 2 (06:57):
I ride with a Western saddle.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
And do you compete or do you just ride for fun?
Speaker 2 (07:03):
I guess you ride for fun at homes.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Well, see, we're perfect to be friends cause I love
riding horses. There's very few things in life I enjoy
doing as much as riding my horse.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Yeah, I really like riding more horsecuse then it like
really calms me a lot.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Me too.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Well.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
You have a good night, my friend. Thank you for calling.
Happy holidays, you too have a great Christmas. Thank you
you too, Honey.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
You're welcome.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
I'll be still my heart that sweet young man Max.
Anyone who's listening to this podcast that believes in pray
for this gentle soul that he will be protected as
he grows up. A lot of times, when boys are
that sweet, that kind, they're bullied. They're bullied and they
(07:57):
learn to hide their tender heart. I'm praying that Max
always knows how loved and beautiful his heart is. Speaking
of sweet souls, I have a story from Cody, who's
very grateful for his wife and for the beautiful family
they are building. I'm going to have Cody share his
(08:17):
story with you. Now, Cody, what can I do for you?
Speaker 5 (08:22):
I'm just calling to give a shout out to my
wife and to my family.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Are you as cute as your little drawl? Is there? Cody?
I have a nephew named Cody, Cody Matthew, and he is.
He melts my heart. He's such a good kid. I
shouldn't say kid. He's a grown man with several children.
But he'll always be a kid to me.
Speaker 5 (08:45):
Yeah, well I'm a kid at heart. I'm thirty six.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
So, Cody with the cute voice, what can I do
for your bride?
Speaker 5 (08:52):
I got married last December. My wife was a single
mom for five years and I met her online and
absolutely fell in love with her. And he's got two
beautiful boys better now mine, eight and ten year old.
And yeah, I just want to tell my wife that.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
I love her. And we are pregnant and we have.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
A baby on the way and we're super stoked at
a little baby to our family d date next June,
and we're so stoked. I just wanted to call because
we're on the road. We came up to the mountains
this weekend and we turned on your show and it
brought back memories. I used to listen to your show
(09:40):
as a kid with my mom.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
And you never thought you'd be all grown up with
two kids and one on the way.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
That's right, so stoked, Cody.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
What's your wife's name, Julie? And how's Julie doing? Any
morning sickness, any discomfort? Does she need more backrubs? Foot rubs.
Foot rubs are really good, by the way, Just FYI.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Rubs backus. Yeah, she loves it.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Well, maybe like some chill grapes and watermelon and a
glass served to her.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
That's right, I'll give them all to her.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
I craved watermelon with my second pregnancy, like I could
eat an entire watermelon a day. I craved it so much.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Well, my wife's vegan.
Speaker 5 (10:29):
In the first first week we found out, she was
craving beef.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Her body was saying, you need protein, child, you're building
a person.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
Yeah, and she had so much jerky and now she
I think she despises it now and she's moved on
to gosh, I don't even know what it is right now.
It changes almost every two days. But she's so lovely.
And just wanted to shout out to her because she's
the glue to our family and she's done a take
(11:04):
of a job raising these two boys that I now get,
you know, the privilege of raising with her. And now
we have one on one more on the way, and
we can't wait to welcome our baby into this world
in June. And God's been really really good to us,
so we're grateful. We're really really grateful.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
I'm so blessed. Just listening to the smile in your voice.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
Thanks, I smiling, really figure right now.
Speaker 5 (11:32):
I heard your voice as a kid going to school
on my mom's radio every single day and can't believe
I'm talking to you now and giving a shout out
to my family. They deserve it big time.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Cody, I am going to play the sweetest song. What
are your boys' names?
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Denham and Finch?
Speaker 1 (11:50):
Somebody loves horces.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
We do love horses.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
We all love sources.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
I had to cinch mine up today. I got to ride.
It felt so good. Usually I hate to admit this, Cody,
but when guys call, when dudes call, usually it's like, Yeah,
I want a song from my woman. She's my rock.
That's it. That's all the story I get. But you
were sharing about your sons that she brought with her
into this marriage and the little miracles. So tell me
(12:20):
what you are most grateful for as we celebrate this
wonderful season of gratitude.
Speaker 5 (12:27):
We're both so grateful for the Lord and for God
bringing my wife and I together. We met online, which
is wild. I never thought i'd meet my wife online
via Instagram?
Speaker 1 (12:41):
And okay, who flirted with who first? Hey?
Speaker 5 (12:46):
Well I dropped into her DM for sure, for sure
and My wife's an author and a writer, and I
just loved all that she was doing and just the
beautiful light that she is to this world, and I
wanted to connect with her, and by the grace of God,
(13:06):
she responded to my message.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
That's because she knew that I'm guessing you're as cute
as your voice is and your accent is, and she's like,
let me just let me just see if there's any
substance behind this smile, because when you say her name,
when you talk about Julie Cody, you smile ear to ear.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
I do. I'm smiling right now.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
She lights me up. He lights my world up.
Speaker 5 (13:32):
And I'm super grateful for my wife and for my
two boys. Like I shared, she was a single mom
for quite some time and did an incredible job raising
these two boys, and two boys that I get to
now call mine and we have a baby on the
way and we can't wait to bring another your ful
(13:55):
soul into this world and raising them alongside the two
boys and our dog, Mochi is a puppy and it's
we got a beautiful family. And I'm really really grateful
this season for the Lord bringing my wife and I
together and for going our family and we get a
(14:16):
at an edition in June next year.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
So when do you find out or are you going
to find out if it's a boy or a girl?
Speaker 5 (14:23):
Probably around January. Actually, probably just run Christmas. It will
be the best Christmas gift ever. Yeah, it's a boy
or girl.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
I'm just thinking. You know, the name Delilah does have
a ring to it, doesn't it.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
I mean it's fresh, I'll tell you that.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Well. I'm going to say a quick prayer for you, Cody,
because I love you. I love your energy, I love
your your love for your wife and your boys and
the baby on the way. Father God, I lift this
young man up to you, and I pray God that's
your hand would be upon him, that you would give
him wisdom, supernaturally, so tied, so committed, Lord God, to
(15:08):
his wife and his family, Lord God, that nothing, nothing
will ever come between them. Father, I pray that you
would bless this unborn child, blessed in the womb. Let
it grow healthy and strong and be born healthy. Father God,
bless the boys as they acclimate to full time Dad
(15:28):
in their lives and this new family that you are
weaving together. Father, I pray you would guide them that
you would guide them every day of their life, and
the dark days ahead and the uncertain times, remind them,
Lord God, that you are still on the throne, that
you are the King of kings, that you are the
Lord of lords, and that every bit of your word
is true, Lord God. And if they come to you
(15:50):
and prayer, Lord God, you are able to do above
and beyond their wildest dreams. Father God, I pray an
extra special blessing upon this family tonight in your precious
name Christ Jesus, Amen, Amen.
Speaker 5 (16:06):
Thank you so much, Delilah.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
God bless you and your family.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 5 (16:12):
We all love you, Delilah.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
As we continue today's podcast, have a little faith talking
about gratitude. I have Alex who's struggling with a loss
but also recognizes what he had and is so grateful.
I'll let Alex share his story. Hi, Alex, what can
I do for you tonight?
Speaker 3 (16:35):
Well?
Speaker 2 (16:36):
I need some Mama, Delilah, you.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
Got me, You got my full attention. What's going on?
Speaker 4 (16:44):
Well, we're coming up on the holiday seasons, as you know,
and it's a very very hard time for me. My
partner passed away going on five years ago. We were
together for or thirteen years. We never hosted any of
the holidays, but we were the ones who prepared the meals.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
So you guys were like taken bake meals on wheels.
You'd bake the turkey and then take it to Mom's
house or take it to Auntie's house.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
Dad, or we would just go to their you know,
wherever did dinner was going to be hosted that and
just prepare the meals there.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
Dang, I need you in my life, Alex. I so
need you in my life. Do you know how many
people I end up cooking for every year, And by
the time dinner is served, all I want to do
is go lay down and sleep.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
I get it.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
So, since your partner died, it's hard. It's hard to
get back into the joy when you feel like half
of you is gone.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
Yeah, mahar just doesn't be right without him. And I
feel that.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
The depth of your pain, Alex, is equal to the
height of your love. It's a direct proportion. And the
depth of your pain right now is the same distance
as the height of your love. And so as much
(18:25):
as you might hate being stuck with your heart just
not being right, it's because you love so purely and
so deeply, and that, my friend is a good thing.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
You always have such a great way of putting things.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
We don't honor grief, but I honor it, and I
honor you, and I honor the depth of that love.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
And I ask that you find.
Speaker 4 (18:54):
Something fitting to play.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
I will and then come and cook my tour dinner.
You are a love. Thank you for calling.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Thank you, Mama, Da, good night.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
Thank you Alex. I'm quite frankly blown away by love
through gratitude. Having a grateful heart is simply a way
to see things differently. Doesn't make hardships go away. It doesn't.
It doesn't change your future so you'll never have storms again.
(19:30):
But it does give you a path. And if you
trust in the Almighty, if you say, Okay, I don't
see how this is going to work out, but God,
I'm just going to put my hand in yours and
I'm going to let you lead me down this path
with gratitude in my heart that I can lean on you,
that I don't have to figure it out, that I
(19:50):
don't have to have all the answers, that you, Lord
can take care of the future and you can heal
the past. Gratitude, dude, changes everything. And in this season
of gratitude, I would love for you to start cultivating
that you can subscribe and share this podcast with anyone
(20:11):
on iHeart or wherever you find your podcast. Thank you
for spending time with me today. I never take that
for granted. I will be back next week with more
gratitude to share with you. God bless you
Speaker 5 (20:29):
