Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. Are you looking
forward to the next few weeks, the next few months, or.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Are you a little overwhelmed. You'd like to move but
it's too expensive.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
You'd like to change jobs because you're not really thrilled,
but you don't want to be unemployed. There's a lot
going on, or maybe it's big stuff like you're hurting
and you need some support, you need some love. I
am here to pour light into the darkness, to wrap

(00:53):
my arms around you. Virtual arms can't fix any of
that stuff, but I can't be here to remind you,
to remind you that things are going to get better
if you got a little faith. Okay, faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love. Thank you Rachel

(01:15):
so much for your patience. What can I do for you?

Speaker 3 (01:18):
The main reason that I'm calling is because lately life
has just been so hard.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
How old are you?

Speaker 3 (01:28):
I'm going to be twenty in December, so I'm almost
almost past my teens, which is scary.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
If you ask me, are you in school?

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah, that's the hard part.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
The hard part of school is the actual studying part
of school, or is the social aspects of school.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
The hard part is paying for it.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yeap, that is the hard part.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
And you know what's funny, Rachel. When I was your
age and going to school and didn't have a family
to lean on because my family had sort of kicked
me to the curb, I was so tired all the
time because I was working my butt off to pay
for college.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Yeah, exactly. And like I just got back from a
study abroad in London, and the week I get back,
my car dies on me. I had to buy a
new car, and my insurance just went up. I'm working
one job looking for another, and all the while I
have family, but I feel like they don't care.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Oh honey, you just got to go study abroad.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
I've never got to do that.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
It was the most amazing experience of my life.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Do you know part of the reason you're feeling so
frustrated why it's called the mountain top deep valley syndrome.
When you've been to the mountaintop and you've experienced something
that you described is the most amazing experience of your life,
whether it's traveling or being intimately connected with someone you love,

(03:04):
or achieving a goal. When you are on that mountaintop,
the air is so sweet and you feel like you've
conquered the world. And immediately afterwards you go down into
the depths of the valley. And the reason that happens
is because that's life. That's the cycle of life. You

(03:24):
ever watch a wave crash to the shore. Yeah, it's
so tall and it's so powerful, and it comes crashing
down and then it goes out to sea, doesn't it. Yeah,
it goes in and it flows out. So honey, God
is blessing you by making it just a little bit
tougher so that you'll push just a little bit harder.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
You should have your own show. I should show.

Speaker 4 (03:51):
No because if I did a TV show, I couldn't
be setting here in my pajamas like I am right now.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Hi, Susan, thank you for calling the Delilah Show.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
What can I do for you?

Speaker 5 (04:08):
I have a request. I was listening to your show
like I do every single night, like clockwork, from the
time you're on to when you say goodbye. There was
a young man on last week. He called in and
he was so worried that he didn't have a woman anymore.
Him and his girlfriend, I guess broke up. And I

(04:28):
want to make a request on that song. If you
stop and you think about it, think of yourself real
perfectly here, You're never alone. You've always got a friend.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
You're right, we are never alone. Thank you for calling.

Speaker 5 (04:44):
Well, you're welcome.

Speaker 6 (04:45):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Thank you for carrying enough to reach out and offer
some words of love to that young man.

Speaker 5 (04:52):
Well maybe he's listening tonight and he'll get to thinking.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
Well, maybe he is, And if not, I bet there's
somebody else who needs the words of encourage.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Well, yeah, you have a good night, you too, Katie, Hi,
thanks for calling. This is Delilah Hi.

Speaker 7 (05:17):
I just wanted to hear something to kind of, you know,
lift my spirits up. They're a little bit low tonight
and I'm having to work and the job that I do,
I have to be very strong for everybody else, and
it's kind of hard sometimes.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
What do you do.

Speaker 7 (05:32):
I'm in law enforcement, I'm a deputy. Yep.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
You got to be strong. You gotta be tough, you
got to be brave, you gotta be bold.

Speaker 6 (05:39):
Yeah, you got to keep your wits about you when
people are doing foolish, crazy hurtful things.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
And you want to just grab them and.

Speaker 5 (05:46):
Go what are you doing exactly?

Speaker 2 (05:49):
How can you treat your wife this way? How can
you treat your children this way?

Speaker 7 (05:53):
Exactly? How can you.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Treat yourself this way?

Speaker 6 (05:55):
How can you put these chemicals in your bloodstream?

Speaker 7 (05:58):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, that's it. And it just sometimes it
seems like there's just not any good And I know
a lot of it is just my outlook. Sometimes, you know,
it just gets a little low.

Speaker 6 (06:10):
Well, I don't know many police officers that are called
to the scene of an anniversary party. I don't know
many police officers that are called to a hospital to
see a baby that wasn't expected to live and is
now doing great. Usually when that nine to one one
button is hit, it's because the sad things, the tragic things,
the evil things. Yeah, but for every nine to one
one call that's made to you for the sad, the tragic,

(06:33):
the evil, the hatred, there's one hundred thousand calls made
to me for the anniversaries, the birthdays, the best friends,
the children coming home from college.

Speaker 7 (06:44):
So I listen to you every night that I work.

Speaker 6 (06:47):
What you need to do is you just need to
sort of get an understanding of the joy that is
out there. But people don't need cops when they're happy. Yeah,
they need cops when somebody just broke into their car.

Speaker 7 (06:58):
Yeah, exactly. And it's just, you know, sometimes it seems
like I don't know, it's just more than what I
can put up with for, you know, in a particular night,
And other times I really love my job. Well, Kate,
can I think of doing anything else?

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Can I just say thank you?

Speaker 4 (07:13):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (07:14):
Well, thanks, because I appreciate you and all the fellow
officers that risk life and limb and put their heart
on the line every day to make the world a
better place for folks like me.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Thanks, God bless you.

Speaker 7 (07:25):
I appreciate that.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
Hi.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Welcome to the Delilah Show. Who is this?

Speaker 8 (07:35):
This is Joni?

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Hi, Jonie. What can I do for you?

Speaker 8 (07:39):
Well, I'm having a hard time tonight. My mother is
in New York and my daughter is in New York
with my grandchildren. And my mother has cancer, she said
cancer for five years, lung cancer. And she just went
into the hospital and I can't be with her right now,

(08:00):
and I'm praying to God that he's going to keep
her safe until I can get there to be with her.
And also I'm terribly missing my grandchildren. So I listen
to you every night at work from the time you're
on till the time you turn down the lights and
go to bed to encourage me to let me know

(08:21):
that they'll be both safe until I get there to
hug them.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
So you're feeling powerless and helpless about your mother's situation.

Speaker 8 (08:31):
Yeah, pretty much. I can't do anything.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
Sad and lonely missing your daughter and grandkids. Yeah, so
big hole in your heart.

Speaker 8 (08:41):
Yeah, and nothing's really felling it. I'm trying to keep
busy and work, but it's kind of hard for me
because I just I'm used to dropping things and just
rushing to her, and and you know, I just can't.
I can't be there for everybody. So I'm trying to
be strong to get myself to where I can help
them if and when they need me.

Speaker 4 (09:03):
Well, I can't heal any of that or fix any
of that, but I will say a prayer that God
would give you strength and be with your mama.

Speaker 8 (09:11):
I appreciate that. Thanks so much, Joeilan. I appreciate your
show a lot.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
much as I enjoy bringing them to you. I'll share
more with you each weekday on Hey It's Delilah Lo
