(00:26):
today I want to share some of those wonderful calls
with you. Hello, good evening, Welcome to the Delilah Show.
Who is this?
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Well, Hey Delilah, it's Tom. How are you doing, Tom?
Speaker 1 (00:42):
I'm good. What can I do for you?
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Well, it's my fortieth twenty anniversary, so I was wondering
if you could play a sappy love song.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Happy anniversary, Happy anniversary, Happy anniversary, Happy anniversary. Forty years.
That's amazing in today's world.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
It is is Yeah, it started pretty funny too. I
dated her back when I was in my late teens.
She dumped me for my best friend and things went
downhill for a while. I moped around for a couple
of years and things didn't work out for her and
my ex best friend and I played church organ and
(01:21):
her father was in the same church, and after one
service came out and said, listen, we like your son.
Here's forty bucks take her out one more time and
the risk of history. So it's stuck.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Luckly, your father in law paid you the money to
take his daughter.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
On a date.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Yeah, and I've never let her forget it for forty years.
It's my favorite.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Gosh, that is precious. He's like, I know you're broke.
I know you ain't got a dime to your name.
She's got a good appetite. She'll eat a steak, dig
her out to dinner.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
I love this story. What did you have for dinner?
Speaker 2 (02:03):
It was kind of a guy meal. I wasn't really
thinking back then, so it was all like ninety percent meat,
you know, ten percent roughage and lightus and all that.
So she almost dumped me again after the meal. But
I mean I had a great dinner.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
So you had a great dinner with her father's forty bucks.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
That's right, that's right.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
But she warmed up to meet Delilah.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Oh my word, tell me your wife's name.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Her name is Gwendolyn.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
I will find a beautiful love song. I'm so glad
your father in law believed in you. That is just
the sweetest story I have heard in years. How about
your mother in law was she was. She was she
on your team too.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
You know they were both on my team. Absolutely, she's
she's still with us, and bless her soul still sings
my praises, even though you know, I don't know if
it's yeah, I got better than I deserve.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Good for you and good for you for recognizing that.
Let me play a song for you too. Thank you
for calling.

A happy birthday, sweetheart, Thank you, Hi, good evening. You've
called the Delilah Show. Who is this? This is Rita Hirida.
(05:18):
What can I do to make your night a little better,
a little more special?
Speaker 5 (05:22):
I actually have a love story to tell you. So
I dated this guy when I graduated high school back
in nineteen eighty six, I met him and we dated
for two and a half years, and unfortunately we went
our separate ways. He enlisted in the military and I
(05:46):
went to school to be a general assistant. And we
just reconnected back in July of twenty twenty two and
we picked up where we us off. We're engaged, we
bought a house together, and we're going to be getting
married this June.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
After all these years, you keep coming back to you two.
How did you find your way back to each other?
Speaker 5 (06:14):
We found each other on Facebook and it started all
over again. After thirty four years of not being in
touch with each other, we just rekindled and we just
never forgot about each other.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
And as soon as you reconnected, you reconnected.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
We reconnected. We had a few obstacles, but we never
stopped loving each other.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
So tell me what's his name? I'm sorry, Rita, what
did you tell me? His name?
Speaker 5 (06:45):
His name's Paul.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Tell me what it is about your Paul, because I
have a Paul. I have two Pauls. I have a
husband Paul and a son. Paul. Tell me what it
is about your Paul that makes him so special that
after thirty plus years, you still you still love him.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
He was my first love. He always looked after me,
and I still got the butterflies after all these years.
I've always thought about him, all these decades not having
him in my life, and we never forgot about each other.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
And is there a song that's your song? Or can
I pick one out for you?
Speaker 5 (07:24):
Open Arms by Journey.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
I will play it for you. Have a beautiful wedding.
Thank you for calling. Thank you, Simon welcome. What can
I do for you?
Speaker 3 (07:40):
My girls talking me into calling you. My two daughters
wanted me to call and for me to give a
I guess I used to say in nur daa shout
out to my wife, the love of my life.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
So the girls want Daddy to be romantical on the
radio for mama Bear. Yes, they dialed the phone and
then handed it to.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
You pretty much.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
And Dad's like, what am I supposed to say?
Speaker 3 (08:07):
So just say hello to my wife Lures, my daughter Emily,
and my little one Jessica.

your heart. They own you, you.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
Know they do. My three girls do owe me.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
You think you're the boss of the household, but be
honest they can. They run the show.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Oh yes they do, starting with Mama Bear and all
the way down.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
I was starting with the baby and all the way
up either way. Yeah ah, what do you want to
tell them? How much do you love these ladies?
Speaker 3 (08:42):
I love them with all my life?
Speaker 1 (08:44):
And is there a song that expresses that? Or shall
I find one for you?
Speaker 5 (08:48):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (08:48):
My girls love it when you find the song. We
listen to you all the time, especially during the holidays.
Your show, your voice, They just anything you picked there,
