Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. You know, it's
been a while, it's been a little minute since we

(00:22):
dedicated a whole show to the notion of gratitude. Having
a grateful heart, having a grateful attitude will number one
extend your life. It's like the most important thing, more
important than exercise or what you eat even is how
you view the world. If you view the world in

(00:44):
a way that is positive, in a way that has
gratitude instead of from a position of being a victim
and nothing is fair and nothing is good and nothing
is right and everything is horrible, you're going to live longer.
But more importantly, you're going to cram a whole lot
more love into the life you live. Hi, thank you

(01:07):
for calling the Delilah Show.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Who was this?

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Hi to lom On. My name is Schesse and I'm
in Pittsford, Pennsylvania. Yeah, and I wanted to call and
tell you a story about seven or eight years ago.
My father had undergone into UI and every night we
would have to drive him to work, and on our
way home we would listen to your show, my mother
and I so I wanted to thank you for getting

(01:34):
us through that rough time and just listening to all
the stories you put out and all the inspiration. It
just meant a lot to us together.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
And how's dad doing today? Is he clean and sober?

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Absolutely? He has been clean and sober now And it
was just a long process and a long road and
he's definitely helped us out through it.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
But you know what doesn't matter how long the process
or the road is. It matters is that today he
is clean and sober, which means he's able to be
fully present in relationships.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Absolutely, and you hear one hundred percent, and we just
love them and care about them and everything's going strong
now and that's all that matters.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Amen to that. What's your daddy's name, Howard? And your
mom that was there, I assume doing the driving.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Is her life a little bit better and a little
bit different now.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
A lot less stressful.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Let me play a song, and I just want to
encourage anybody who knows, because people, I believe people know
when they've got a problem on some level. Maybe they're
still in denial and don't really realize how bad that
problem is. But anybody who's dealing with alcoholism or struggling
with addiction.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Go get help.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Don't ruin your family, don't ruin your life, go get help.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Absolutely, And I just thank the Lord every day that
he's still here with us and he's gotten the help
and he's gotten better.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Well, you have a good night. Thank you, you're tears.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Hello.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
Who is this?

Speaker 5 (03:16):
I'm Ali?

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Hi?

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Ali? What can I do for you?

Speaker 5 (03:20):
I called because I am really grateful for a lady
in my life that's my caregiver, and she's like my
mama's She's a really cool ideana. I've been trying to
think of a way to say thank you.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
So she loves you, she protects you, she looks out
for you.

Speaker 5 (03:40):
Yeah, all that and a lot more. She's not only
devoted everything, I mean just taking her life off, I
mean put it on hold to take care of me.
I'm disabled developmentally and i'm psychiatrically and physically.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Okay, Allie, backup, back up, back up, back up.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
For somebody who has that many disabilities, you are extremely
articulate and obviously very loving. Thanks, So let's just get
rid of that little word and focus on your abilities.
That would be wickle, because somebody who is as articulate
as you are certainly has a ton to offer the world.

Speaker 5 (04:21):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
I mean, God gives us all gifts, no matter what
the level of our disability.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
Susan, that's my guardian. She's told her. I didn't know
that anybody liked me. She showed me that, and she
showed me that she loved me.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
I'm glad that you've got somebody on your side.

Speaker 6 (04:37):
You have a good night.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
Thank you you too, and God bless you.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
I got this update from a listener named Rose, who says,
Dear Delilah, ten years ago, I spoke with you about
my children their families, and I told you then that
my son was adopting a little boy from Guatemala. They
did bring Connor home when he was eight months old.
The process took a very long time. Connor just turned

(05:13):
ten last autumn. Their family has grown since then too.
My son and daughter in law couldn't have biological children,
so they opened their hearts and have since adopted three
more children, little girls, twins Destiny and Dominique will be
four soon, and their sister Sophia just turned two. I

(05:35):
can't tell you how happy I am to have grandchildren
in my life. My daughter was also pregnant at the
time I spoke with you. Keely will be ten and
her sister Emma will be two. In that time, I
also found and married my childhood sweetheart seven years ago.

(05:57):
As you can see, our family has grown quite a bit.
I'm so grateful for the whole lot of them, and
now for my loving husband. So glad we reconnected after
thirty seven years. I just wanted to take a moment,
Delilah to catch up and say thank you for taking
that call so many years ago.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
Rose.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Thank you for writing and for catching me up. What
a blessed family you have.

Speaker 6 (06:30):
Anita welcome. This is Delilah. What can I do for you?

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Bhy Delilah. I would like you to play a song
for me for my daughter Lila, and it's a song
by kil King Child.

Speaker 6 (06:42):
Thank you love that song. Yes, tell me about this
child of yours.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
She's wonderful. She's a college here in town, so she
didn't go away to college. But we don't see her
a lot, and we miss her so much. And she's
just a wonderful child. I can't say about her.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
So has it been hard to adjust to her being
away at school.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Yes, although I'm a housekeeper at the college where she goes.
Sometimes I'm a little embarrassed, but she doesn't seem to be.
She's so sweet. She'll come into, you know, in my
building and she'll say she loves me in front of
her friends, and she doesn't seem to be embarrassed at all.
But I kind of am sometimes. You know, I've got
my mom or my broom and she's just so sweet.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Why would that embarrass her? You'd do good work, hard work.

Speaker 6 (07:32):
I guess, and you should be very proud of that.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Well, I am.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
That's hard, dignified, honest work.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
She had her pick of over one hundred different colleges
and she went here and it's nice.

Speaker 6 (07:44):
So what does that tell you, Mom? Yeah, she's not
embarrassed by your hard work. She's grateful for it.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Yeah, I guess she is. But I'm most proud of
the person she is. She's good and she's kind, and
that's what I'm most proud of.

Speaker 6 (07:57):
How about the fact that her mom's good and kind?
Don't you think maybe that had a little bit to
do with it?

Speaker 5 (08:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Maybe a little, maybe a little bit, maybe a little bit.

Speaker 6 (08:04):
So you put that foolish thought out of your mind,
and I will play a song for you and your
precious daughter.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Oh, thank you so much, God blessing. I love your show.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
much as I enjoy bringing them to you. I'll share
more with you each weekday on Hey It's Delilah.
