Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
I have put together some of my favorite radio moments
here to share with you on our daily podcast.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Hey it's Delilah.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
I love romantic love, but it's just like the cherry
on top of the cake, it's not the whole cake.
There's love between parents, for their kids, for their grandkids,
love between siblings, or hopefully there is. There's a million
different ways to experience and express love, and I am
(00:43):
here to celebrate all of those with you.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Hello, good evening, Welcome to the Delilah Show. Who is this?
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Hi Delah?
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Hi Bob? What can I do to make your night
a little more special?
Speaker 3 (00:58):
With setting here tonight? At work like I normally am,
five years ago, I called in to you and talked
to you about my daughter who had announced that at
eighteen she was going to get married and head off
and she did, and we sat there, and of course,
like a father, I came on glued and said, no
way you're going to get married, but gave into it
(01:20):
when a week later I was called into town and
seen her in a wedding gown for the first time,
and of course the tears flowed. Five years ago, you
helped talk me through that and get over it. The
other night, we decided to just have an impromptu barbecue,
my wife and I, and we invited my son and
(01:42):
his wife and little girl who's happen to come along
since then. And then our daughter and son in law
have been back for about three years, and I live
about eight miles away from us, so we've been to
join them, and we had them over. We were studying
there at dinner on the back deck and watching and
I started to watch my son play with his sixteen
(02:04):
month old daughter and it was like, wow, you know
that's meat. Then I look over and by the way,
my daughter is twelve days away from having her first baby.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
So today you're all back in the same neighborhood.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
They were all within eight miles of each other.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
You're spending time together, you're raising the grandkids with them
having a blast, and life is good.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Life's great. But there's one big thing that when I
was watching Jason play with his daughter in the backyard
and then Heather being pregnant with hers sitting beside me,
I looked through my eyes for the very first time,
and I didn't see my children. I saw young adults.
I saw my kids. They have grown up, they're able
(02:50):
to make their own decisions, and it was the time
that I went, Wow, I think I did good. And
I'm proud of both of them and what they've done
and there accomplishments of life.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
I'm so glad that your heart made it through those
troubled days and those sad days.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
And that you're now on the other side of that. Sue,
what can I do for you?
Speaker 5 (03:17):
Well, I was hoping that you could play a song
dedicated for my brother who has finally become content. He's
just had a kind of a rough got at everything
for many, many years, and he's finally content. He's finally
(03:38):
found a lovely, lovely lady who is who he's sharing
his life with, and he's just I don't know how
else to describe it other than to say he's content
and it's just really really nice to see.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
So was this brother the wild child for sure?
Speaker 5 (03:59):
For sure one that if.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
There was trouble he could find his way to it. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
It kind of found him.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Yeah, he didn't even really have to look. It just
landed in his lap.
Speaker 5 (04:09):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
And if there was a bad influence around, he'd be
hanging out with him.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, and he just he really was my
parents cross to bear. He was in a really bad
accident about a year and a half ago and he
was almost killed. Rather than being angry and why me,
he said to me, I don't know why this happened
to me, but there's got to be a reason. He said,
I don't know what it is right now, and maybe
(04:36):
I'll never know, but he said, maybe one day I'll
find out what the reason is. Anyways, he couldn't work
anymore for quite a while, so he volunteered somewhere at
a place to help people because he couldn't work at
his job, and he met just the most wonderful person
in the world. And now they're together and he is
(05:00):
so content. It's unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
You just must be busting with pride.
Speaker 5 (05:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Yeah, I'm the sister. I'm so thrilled.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
Yeah I am.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Let me find a song for you.
Speaker 5 (05:11):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Bye, bye, sweetie, Hi, good evening. You've called Delilah. Who
is this?
Speaker 6 (05:26):
This is Bailey and Nelly.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
We're so excited, Bailey and who.
Speaker 6 (05:31):
Relly, We're sisters. We're stoke. This is awesome.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
And does your mom make you listen when you're in
the backseat of the car and she's picking you up
from swim team, or from cheer or from basketball.
Speaker 6 (05:45):
Home from the gym. We love your station.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
The gym working out, Jim. The gym like gymnastics, Jim.
What kind of gym do we go to?
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Working out?
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Good for you?
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Good for you, stay healthy, stay hit the weights. What
can I play for you?
Speaker 6 (06:03):
I was wondering if you could play me a special
quest in honor of this fella I'm dating. He's gone
and I'm kind of missing him.
Speaker 7 (06:10):
So can you.
Speaker 6 (06:11):
Play Hey there, Delilah? Perhaps that's actually our song?
Speaker 1 (06:14):
All right, Millie, how old are you?
Speaker 4 (06:16):
I'm eighteen.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Was that song even out when you were born?
Speaker 6 (06:20):
I don't know, but it's always been a favorite of mine.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Very cool because of my show or because of something else.
Speaker 6 (06:27):
I used to play it. This is Bailey. I used
to play it on the piano, and then that's where
we kind of started listening to the song from. And
then so her fella that she's been seeing, he actually
got to hear the original band play it live on
a Navy base. So he sent her video of that,
and so now.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
It's their song, So now it's your song. I see,
I see how this is going. What is his name?
Speaker 1 (06:49):
This fella as you call him, his name is Jack.
And where is Jack?
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Now?
Speaker 6 (06:55):
I'm more in the middle of he can't tell you.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
You can tell me because he's in the military and
his top secret.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Are you a little concerned? Are you a little anxious?
Speaker 6 (07:07):
A little bit?
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Not too much? He should be coming home soon, so
I'm looking forward to that.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
I will say a prayer for him, for Jack, and
for all the men and women serving, and for the
leadership around the world, that things would calm down.
Speaker 6 (07:22):
Thank you, Thank you so much. That is so sweet.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
All right, you guys, have a great night. Thank you
for listening. Thank you for calling.
Speaker 6 (07:30):
Absolutely you rock.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Bye bye, honey. Hi, good evening. Who is this.
Speaker 7 (07:41):
This is Jeremy, Hi, Jeremy, Hi.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
What can I do for you?
Speaker 7 (07:46):
I'd just like to tell a story about so much
times I've been having with my parents with the past month. Okay, Well,
I just left for college a month ago, and I
left with some pretty hard feelings. We got got some
flights over over money and control. Because I'm an only child,
(08:06):
it's a really difficult, difficult change.
Speaker 8 (08:08):
Okay, back up, back up, back up, you're an only child, yep,
and your folks are putting you through school or you're
putting yourself through school.
Speaker 7 (08:16):
Putting myself through school?
Speaker 1 (08:17):
So you're working? How are you putting yourself through school?
Speaker 7 (08:20):
I work nights at a job.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
So you're tired.
Speaker 7 (08:23):
Yeah, I'm always tired, a little worn out.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Are you taking a full load in college?
Speaker 7 (08:28):
Yep?
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Wow? So what is the fighting about?
Speaker 7 (08:32):
Where I want to go on my life and where
they want me to be? We again fights over that
and I kind of disappoint them in a lot of ways.
Speaker 8 (08:40):
Do you think that maybe your mom and dad are
hurting because it's hard for you to grow up and
it's hard to see their only child leave home and
that's breaking their hearts and they were having a hard
time letting go.
Speaker 7 (08:51):
Yeah, I think I think that it is too.
Speaker 8 (08:53):
So you just want to say mom, dad, I love you,
I miss you, I'm sorry I said some cruel thing.
Speaker 7 (09:00):
Yep. That's pound it up pretty good.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
You hang in there, young man, Okay, thanks yep. I
so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as much
as I enjoy bringing them to you.
