Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast Do. Last night,
I got a phone call from a woman who's a
(00:22):
little bit younger than me, and she said, I just
feel like giving up. I feel like I'm never going
to reach my dreams. And then she started giving me
a whole list of the reasons, and it mostly had
to do with her ex husband. Honey, nobody defines you.
(00:43):
Nobody can put you in a corner or put you
in a box except you stop doing that to yourself.
Break free from those negative thought patterns and sore. You
were created sore. You were created for goodness. You were
(01:04):
created for greatness. Stop thinking that because you're a certain
age or you have a certain health issue, that you
cannot do certain things you can you can, And please
stop thinking somebody else has destroyed your opportunities to shine.
(01:26):
Just go do it. Live your best life, be the
best you can possibly be, and shine that light brightly.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Hello.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Who is this? This is Susie. Susie, what can I
do for you?
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Well? I was just calling. I listened to you at
night when I'm delivering pieces I worked during the day.
I just got a new job working child support for
my state. And the other night you were talking about
not being afraid of moving forward with your life. I
think it was like turning thirty five, forty and going
(02:05):
back to school and not being afraid to do it.
And I just called to let you know I did it.
And it's hard when you're going through it, but it's
so worthwhile when you're done.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
So you've graduated. Yes, good for you. How does that feel?
Speaker 3 (02:20):
It feels really good. I was forty when I went
back to school, went and got my paralegal degree, and
just got my first big job.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
And what's your first big job? Social services?
Speaker 3 (02:31):
You said, yeah, child reenforcement.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Good for you.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
Yeah, it's tough work, but it's nice to walk home
and get home and realize that you know you're helping
helping out another family.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Well, thank you for making a difference, Sweedi, and thank
you for being bold and being brave and living your
life fully.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
No problem, keep going for it, for encouraging all of
us every time we listen to you.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Well, one of these days I'm going to go back
and get a degree.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
I'm going to keep going back, in fact to my
oldest daughter sixteen. She has plans of becoming an attorney,
and we're talking about going to law school together in
another four or five years.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Oh wow, wouldn't that be a kick? That would be
a kick. You know, at this rate, I'll probably go
back when my two youngest ones go off.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
I don't ever want to stop learning. I want to
keep going back to school. I just absolutely it was
the best two years.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Well, God, bless you, thank you, thank you for calling.
This is Delilah, who's with me on the phone lines?
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Hey, Delilah's Heather.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
How are you hi, Heather? I am wonderful. What can
I do for you?
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Well, I want to say thank you for still being around.
I've been listening to you for about twenty years now,
since that was ten.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Ah, So I've been a part of your teenage formative years.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
You have been a part of some of my very tough,
most years, like you have been there for everything. I've
been listening to you for years. In the last three
have been the most difficult, and I've been trying to
get through because you always know the right thing to
play and the right thing to say. And I can't
even begin I have been through so much, and I
(04:15):
am restarting my journey on loving myself and learning who
I am right now. Basically had to start all over
because of life circumstances.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Is it a new season because you've left home, because
you've left a relationship, because you've left college? What's that.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Long story short? I got divorced and I lost my
place to live, and I had to temporarily give my
child back to my husband so that she would be
in a stable environment. And I've moved around a lot,
and now I finally moved back home with my parents
so I could work on finishing getting back on my
(04:55):
feet and getting back to my daughter and getting back
to my life.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
And is your gonna let you have your daughter back?
Speaker 2 (05:03):
We're working on some things once I can provide a
stable environment for her. And he's happy that I'm back home,
then he has no issue letting me spend more time
with her and see her. So that's kind of a
blessing in disguise. I'm going to get to spend more
time with her now that I'm back home.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
And do you feel like you are healed or healing?
Speaker 2 (05:26):
I do, Actually, I was really happy to be back
home with my mom to be honest, I missed her
a lot, and I'm in a safe environment and a
loving environment now, so it's good.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
I'm glad you're home. I'm glad you're with her, your mama.
But mostly I'm glad that I hear the hope that
I hear in your voice. I will play a wonderful
song for you, and I'm going to say a prayer
that you will be blessed beyond measure, that the past
will be healed, your relationships will be restored, and you'll
get to spend more time with your baby girl.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Well, thank you so much, Himella, and thank you for everything,
for just being there.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
All right, you have a good night.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
You too, Thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Bye bye, Hi, good evening. Welcome to the Delilah Show.
Who is this? I'm Carla, Welcome aboard.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
I was wondering when we'd have this discussion. I remember
back in the late nineties. I was wondering, am I
ever going to be able to give her my victory report?
And I've got a.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
Dandy Well tell me your story. So back in the nineties,
things were not so good.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
No, no, they weren't. I'd been homeless for a long
period of time, and I'd given up hope. Period. I
never really decided to ever try to make something out
of my life or do anything. I got hung up
in the trappings of a lot of things that a
lot of us can if we're not really careful, and
U finally one day I just I've got to come
(07:06):
out of this. I've got to come out of this
or I'm gonna die. And Uh, I remember hearing your
radio program and I was just wondering, when am I
ever going to be able to call that woman up
and tell her that I'm going to make it or
I've made it? Is it ever going to happen? And Uh,
(07:26):
I'm here to tell you that it has. But I
didn't do it alone. I had to have help along
the way. It came by way of two things that
seemed to always be stuck in my mind, and that's
sharing and caring.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
So are you in a safe place now?
Speaker 4 (07:47):
Not only that I'm in a three bed, two bath
house with a loving husband. It's been wonderful these past
few years.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
And now you're paying it forward and helping others to
realize there's a better way to live. Yes, that with
purpose and direction and support and unconditional love. We can
meet just about any challenge.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
That's it. You don't get to keep it unless you
give it away.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
You gotta give it away. Isn't that amazing the way
that works? That when God blesses us, those blessings will
only stay if we give them away.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Hi, you've called de la La? Who's this?
Speaker 5 (08:33):
This is Emily?
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Hi, Emily, what can I do for you tonight?
Speaker 5 (08:38):
I was wondering if you could play a song from
my mom.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Tell me about your mama, and I will try to
find a song that honors her.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
Well.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
She has gone back to work after raising six kids,
and she's homeschooled all of us, and I still have
a brother at home that she teaches on her days
off while she's working. And she's just been the best
long that anybody could ask for. And I was just
(09:09):
wondering if you could play a song for her. She
and I like to listen to you together. I just
love it if you could find the perfect song for her.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
And what's mama's name? Her name is Kathy, all right,
So what kind of job did she take on? Because
trust me, if she homeschooled y'all and raised y'all, right,
that was full time work times ten.
Speaker 5 (09:29):
Yes, ma'am, Yes, ma'am.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
So whatever job she's doing now, it isn't nearly as
hard as homeschooling you kids and raising you right, right right.
Speaker 5 (09:41):
She raised us all for actually, my mom and dad
adopted one of my sisters and the rest of us
my mom had So she went to a hospital and
she's working as a tech. So it's kind of difficult
for her to be away from home, but I think
she's really enjoying it.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
Well, give her my love and my applause for doing
such a good job raising you kids. Let me play
a song for you.
Speaker 5 (10:09):
Thank you so much, Delilah.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
much as I enjoy bringing them to you. I'll share
more with you each weekday on Hey It's Delilah.
