Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hunting for Answers is a production of the Black Effect
Podcast Network and iHeartRadio. Welcome to Hunting for Answers, a
true crime podcast. I'm your host Hunter, and today we're
discussing a chilling case that took place in Omaha, Nebraska
in the spring of twenty eighteen. It centers around a

(00:20):
mother who was trying to protect her children, rebuild her life,
and survive a relationship that had turned dark and dangerous
in an instant. She was here one moment and gone
the next. This is the story of Kmisha Hollis. Kamisha

(00:41):
Hollis was a thirty five year old mother and the
light of her family's life. She had three daughters, ages six, eight,
and ten, and they meant everything to her. Friends say
she was kind, nurturing, and strong, but behind her smile
was fear. On the night of April first, twenty eighteen,

(01:04):
that fear became a reality. Kamisha lived with her longtime partner,
Marvin Young, the father of her children. Their relationship had
been volatile for years. In that night, their oldest daughter,
just a child, witnessed her parents arguing, the yelling, the threats,

(01:26):
the violence. It wasn't anything new, but What happened next was,
according to that child, Marvin forced her and her siblings
to drink a purple liquid medicine he said, even though
they weren't sick.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
She spit hers out. She stayed awake, and she saw her.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Father holding something heavy, a steel toed boot, the kind
of weapon he had used before. That was the last
time Kamisha was seen alive. Days passed without word from Kamisha. Concerned,
her mother, Martha Hollis, decided to visit her family's home,

(02:15):
a place she often avoided because she says it had
negative energy. Upon arrival, Martha found her three granddaughters alone,
frightened and without supervision. When she asked about their parents whereabouts,
the eldest recounted the terrifying events of April first. Alarmed,

(02:38):
Martha contacted the Omaha Police Department. A search of the
home revealed blood evidence in the garage in two spent
shell cases. Then, on April fifth, police found her red
Hondai Elantra abandoned in the parking lot of the four
zero two hotel in downtown Omaha. Surveillance video showed Marvin

(03:01):
Young pulling up in the car alone. He opened the
trunk placed something inside and walked away. Kamisha's purse was
later found inside that trunk back at the home they shared.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
The evidence was chilling.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
It was Kamisha's blood that was found in the garage
and Moore was found in the trunk of her car,
but still there was no sign of Kamisha. As investigators
closed in, Marvin Young was arrested and charged with murder,
but the prosecution faced a dilemma.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
The case was strong, but not perfect.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
There was no body, and forcing Kamisha's children to testify
could retraumatize them for life. In twenty twenty two, Marvin
Young pled no contest to manslaughter, child abuse, and evidence tampering.
He was sentenced to twenty three to thirty one years
in prison. Under Nebraska law, he could be eligible for

(04:10):
parole after just seven.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
And a half years.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Kamisha's mother, Martha, called it Kamisha's justice day, but justice,
she said, would never feel complete without knowing what Marvin
did with her daughter's body. In twenty twenty three, Kamisha
was officially declared decease.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
It had been five years since anyone had seen or
heard from her.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Her daughters now live with their grandmother, but questions linger,
where is Kamisha's body, what really happened in those final moments,
and will Marvin Young ever reveal where Kamisha's remains live
my thoughts, prayers or with the family and friends of

(05:01):
Kamisha Hollis. Anyone with information about her case should contact
