Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am all in again.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Oh, let's just you. Gilmore Girls Gazette with Amy Sugarman
and Danielle Romo, an iHeartRadio podcast.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
This is the Gilmore Girls Gazette. And I will say
my worst part of being a podcast host, which is
a total stretch, is the first three words we say.
I just never know, like I don't like the Hey, guys,
Danielle's so much better at it. Okay, so let me
tell you what's going on here. Jackie is at an appointment.

(00:44):
We all know Danielle's on maternity leave coming back so
soon though, Like we're on the countdown to her return
in January. So Jackie's an appointment. So we have producer Emma,
and then we also just want you guys to meet
our editor engineer extraordinaire. Also fun fact about Manny background

(01:04):
actor on the pit? Did you have a line on
the peg? Yes?

Speaker 2 (01:07):
How dare I? Yeah, I'm a cohost, I'm a ghost.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
I get that right?

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Seriously, she is no, how dare I say background actor?
That is so insulting. I am terrible you had a line.
But I watched every episode, Manny, what was your line?

Speaker 1 (01:23):
The line is?

Speaker 2 (01:25):
You know what?

Speaker 1 (01:25):
I forgot?

Speaker 2 (01:26):
It's my gosh, I did it like two years ago.
It's so crazy.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
So are you in season two?

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Do you know I will not disclose that.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Oh you know, I think that means yes, I'm gonna
go with That means yes, okay, you guys. So Manny
was on the pit. We're gonna obviously talk all things
we're girls, but first we'll do a quick the pit,
great amazing show. When you got that job, did you
have any idea like this thing is going to be huge,
it's gonna blow up, it's gonna win Emmy's Like when
you were making it, were you like, oh, this is

(01:55):
pretty awesome?

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Though.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
I was just so excited to work alongside Noah Wiley
because you were scenes.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Yeah, old people like us almost like what's r She's like,
who's George Clooney?

Speaker 2 (02:08):
But I didn't think it was going to take off
like like it.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Hass Was it hard to do though? Because that show
is crazy? So did you have to like really hit
your marks and like not screw up.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Yes, And when we filmed it live, there was no stops.
Nobody even had sides on the set. Normally you have
like little a little side on you, you know, means a.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Piece of paper with your script. For those people listening
that are like, what's a side like a mashed potatoes?

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Yeah? Yeah. The director and the producers were like, yep,
no sides on set at all?

Speaker 3 (02:42):
And how when did they stop?

Speaker 2 (02:44):
They filmed it nine months?

Speaker 3 (02:46):
No, but I'm saying, like, in a scene, what if
somebody messes up from the top?

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Yeah, start from the door.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
So did you work just like? That was gnarly?

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Everybody was sweat and bullets, that's for sure.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
If you make more money than episode, you had the
line obviously.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
How many episodes were you in?

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Just one? Oh see?

Speaker 3 (03:07):
I thought you were in every episode.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
I wish that would be great, that's the goal.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
You got one line in one of the episodes?

Speaker 1 (03:15):
I had like three lines?

Speaker 3 (03:17):
All can you please let us know what episode?

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Episode five?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
What were you? A doctor and nurs physician?

Speaker 1 (03:26):
You were? What?

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Man?

Speaker 1 (03:29):
I played?

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Doctor Flores, doctor Oscar? Floor is an episode?

Speaker 3 (03:32):
A name?

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Who did you speak? Did you speak to Noah Wiley?

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Him and I? He introduces me, Wow, my god? Where
as the head and next surgeon? Did you miss did
you you missed me?

Speaker 3 (03:46):
I thought you watched Manny I watched every episode and
I literally that means you're a good actor.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Well, Amy, here here's the thing. You can rewatch it
because starting December first, it's going to be on T
and T AT.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
I felt a plug coming. All right, Manny, Now we
move on to our Gilmour Girls things. But yes, we're
happy to have you.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
Thank you for having Manny is credited on the pit
Wiki fandom page as doctor Oscar Flores, a surgical resident
at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Oh my god, there asident.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
WOA wait, are you doing any shows right now?

Speaker 2 (04:22):
I do have two more shows coming out in twenty
twenty six.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Can you name them?

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Well, one of them I can't name, but I will
say that the girl, the lovely woman who's married to
Freddy Prince Junior, is the star.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
You're in Buffy. You're in Buffy. Oh he can't answer that,
but he is totally and Buffy and then you're in Buffy.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
The other one is with Jennifer Gardner season two of
the last Thing.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
He told me on.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
TV many So I'm getting good work.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
I'm trying.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
You know, I started a foundation with Amy Sugarman, so
you know that goes way back, way back.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
I know.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
So Manny and I have known each other for a
hundred years, like literally thirty years, probably.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Just about absolutely thirty years.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
But you know, like, well here's some important news, Emma,
my crocs. So I ordered these Gilmour Girls crocs and
the big question was did I get hoodwinked and did
I order something that was like what did you call it?
Ai and some sort of scam. I have now received

(05:27):
a notification that the crocs they're not crocs, they're like
fake crocs, have been shipped already't shown up yet, So
everybody stay tuned to find out if.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
I ever get Did you get it from timu?

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Where you.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
Instagramm whoa?

Speaker 3 (05:46):
And I just clicked on it and gave my credit
card like like I wasn't being smart. I think it
was very late at night and I just was like
clickity click, these look cool and I didn't think it through,
like are these real? Is this reputable? Are these fan?
Is this someone in their garage just putting Gilmore Girls
gibbets into some random shoes. We'll see, we will see.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
The most suss Instagram post I'd ever seen, and I
hope they do arrive.

Speaker 5 (06:13):
But heard to me would just.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Laugh a little bit harder.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
It's interesting that I got the your shoes have shipped,
though I think they're coming amy.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
What were you doing when you ordered these?

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Were you watching TV?

Speaker 3 (06:25):
Watching TV? And here's why I probably missed your scene
on the pit, because I do like four things at
the same time, So I'm like watching TV on the Instagram, emailing,
folding laundry. Weirdly, no one cares. It's I'll tell y'all
at the end, after we get through more Gilmerl's news
the things that I do at night. But I'm gonna

(06:45):
pause most of this conversation for when Jackie returns. But
what I wanted to say was I watched the Kim
Kardashian show All's Fair, the one that had zero Rotten
tomatoes than you, Hi, Emma, did you watch it yet?

Speaker 5 (07:02):
I watched the first three episodes and out I want
to keep watching me too.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
So here's my thought. So, Manny, you did not hate
it either.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
I was very surprised that Kim wasn't bad as an actress.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
She's not great, she's not great, but she's not an
actress no, and she's not terrible. And here's what I
think She's surrounded by Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson, Nissi Nash,
all these people. Right, So here's what I think people
are not getting about the show. And again we're going
to get to more Gilmore Girls stuff. Sorry, this is
a little bit of our new show that's going to

(07:38):
be called Listen if you want to, coming in January
twenty twenty six. Okay, so yeah, so we're kind of
you know, the people are, they are excited about Listen
if you want to, but we just meet Danielle before
we can officially watch it. So this is the kind
of stuff you'll get and listen if you want to.
But anyway, here's what I think people aren't getting. I
think they were like tuning in thinking they're going to
see American horror story or maybe like the people versus Ojison,

(08:02):
like they're trying to be too real when what they're
getting is Nip Tuck. Yes, go back and watch Nip Tuck.
Nip Tuck was really good, but it was also totally
nuts and like the Jessica Simpson episode really made me go,
this is Nip Tuck, Like, yeah, it's supposed to be
over the top, Rick Springfield, like all these different celebrities

(08:25):
are in it, Like, you don't have to act like
this same is far fetched. The whole thing is far fetched.
We get it.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
First of all, Jessica Simpson and Rick Springfield up are.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
Married, are married, so good, looks good, and she is
like nip tuck. She's got like terrible plastic surgery. The
whole thing is just so Emma, what what is your
Give me your review of it.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
I think it was hard to watch with Kim in
it because she felt like such a curveball. I think
the main thing for me was that her face wasn't
moving the way that everyone else's was.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
I didn't notice that, but I've seen that on people
making fun of that on Instagram.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
Yeah, Like, she's not an actress. And I love watching
her in things because I'm I really like her and
I think she's a great person, great businesswoman, et cetera.
But it was hard to watch like Sarah Paulson, Nami Watts, Oh.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
Yeah, I forgot Naomi Watts. Isn't it too right? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (09:28):
And I didn't think she was that good in it.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
I have to say she's not as good as they are.

Speaker 5 (09:33):
Yeah, right right, So it just felt off.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
So I was in like I was expecting. I think
we talked about it last week Cats, so Mary the
comparison we gave us the movie Cats that everybody was like,
this movie is so bad, you know you have to
watch how bad it is. And I turned it on
and it was so bad that I could not watch
anymore of it. I was like, I don't get it,
Like this is so bad. So I'm going into All's
fare being like it's gonna be so bad, I'll turn

(09:58):
it off. Not only did I not turn it off,
I benge three episodes like right right now, like hey,
Ryan Murphy, like we're good with this, Like I don't
know why everyone's like it's all bad. It's not bad.
It is what it is. It's supposed to be. Like
everyone's talking about Kim Kardashian's outfit. Do you know the
one scene I'm talking about where she's like wearing the
skirt that's like showing half her butt. Yeah, everybody's And

(10:20):
I'm like they obviously did it so everybody would talk
about how insane it is. The fashion alone is totally insane.

Speaker 5 (10:32):
Yeah, yeah, the jet is insane.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
Correct, the whole the jewelry at Judith Lights, I don't
know any of the characters names, by the way, so
just like tight that I'm Liberty Laura.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
Like they're also over the top. Everything's over the top.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
It's all over the top. You're supposed to just like
go okay. I don't see the big difference between this
and Hunting Wives. Like this show, Hunting Wives is over
the way, which I loved me too, Manny, thank you
so much. I'm like, Honeywives is great. Yeah, I'm not
pretending Hunting Wives is SVU right right, Like SVU to
me is like whoa, this is gritty, this is real.

(11:06):
The pit, the pit could not be more real. We're
not making a pit here, We're making Hunting Wives. We're
making all's fair. Like they're supposed to be campy and
silly and over the top and like, oh my god,
who where's that decurt like Kim Kardashi, you know whatever.
So anyway, I am in. I'm gonna keep watching, and
I think people need to just look at it. It's
like different eyes or something.

Speaker 5 (11:26):
I'm not mad about your take.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
I've gone into movies with thinking it's gonna be one
thing and very disappointed when it's not. And I think
going into it thinking you're saying campy is very true.
I think going into it with silly.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
First of all, let's talk about her football playing younger
boyfriend who pretends he forgets their anniversary. Here's what's throwing
me off right. This is so Ryan Murphy and it's
so campy and it's so ridiculous. So she's got this
mansion of a house, a mansion of a house like
me where that house is. It's like, this isn't like,

(12:02):
this isn't like your old mansions, like Father of the
Bride was like a classic house, but it was very fancy.
This is like mansion. She has like nineteen people working
for her, like in this mansion. So she goes in
her closet alone. I was like, what is happening. She's
got this big anniversary and then she thinks he forgets,

(12:23):
but then he gives her this insane diamond, and yet
then he leaves her. Like it's very like, what why
did he even bother with that diamond? And he's just
gonna leave her anyway. See, Manny and I were talking
about this earlier, so before you guys we came.

Speaker 5 (12:37):
On, Oh, I see What'spanny and.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
I were talking about hot flashes and here we go
that his wife, So I go her wife and menopause. Sorry,
we're gonna get to the giller.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
It may maybe yeah, I don't.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
Like, don't hang up, just keep keep letting this roll.
Do not pick off the podcast because we're gonna If.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
You guys can't see this, I mean, I mean Amy
has was Yeah, she's took off her sweater and now
she's sweating.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
Sweating, and he's like, I don't know if my wife's menopause,
but she's always hot. And I'm like, Number one, you
might want to ask her how menopause is going. Number two, Yes,
she's definitely in it, like all of a sudden, just
extreme heat, like full sweat. Okay, anyway, moving on, let's
do a couple GIMMI girls things and we're going to
go back to a couple. All's fair. And I don't
even remember what I was saying, which.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
Is Alison Max podcasts.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
I want to talk about Alison Max podcast. Okay, So
first this is some Jared Padilaki news. First of all,
is everybody losing their minds because the Jared Zukery People
Magazine reunion was like unreal. It came out of nowhere
by the way too. I was like, like, we had
the Chad Michael Murray one with the guy from One

(13:45):
Tree Hill James, which was fine, right, that was cool. Well,
I'm sure we'll talk about that. This was out of
nowhere Jared and Matt and this wasn't like they filmed
it when they made the Panawa commercial. It was like
they were in a studio doing this whole thing. And
I was like, shook to my core. I was like, what,
oh my god, Yeah, it's happening.

Speaker 5 (14:05):
It was a great people interview.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
So we'll be talking about this for a while. But
one of the things we want to talk about is
that Jared his daughters, his daughter part of me, not daughters, daughter,
He must have sons also because I think they have
a bunch of kids. His eight year old loves Gilmore
girls but does not like when Deane and Ry kiss,
which is hilarious because she's like, eh, dad, And like Jared,

(14:28):
Padiluki has not aged, so he does look same.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
None of them, not even Jensen Nichols, not nobody, Like,
I mean.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
Okay, so, and but what else did they talk about
that you were like, I need to talk about that.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
Well, Jared Padaluchy said that never in a million years
did he think that he would be so heavily associated
with cornstarch. All fansh I want to do is let's
talk about corn starch with him.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
So at Holidays made here which get your tickets. We
will be there on the eighteenth. Manny, you need to
come now that you're now that you're Gilmore Girl's famous,
you need to come on the ape where the found
at the Warner Brothers a lot.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
Oh, yes, I'm there. Did they make the pit on
the Warners lot? It's like home.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
It's like it's like, so they sell corn starch, don't
they sell? Emma, were you there last year?

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (15:27):
You were?

Speaker 5 (15:30):
Yes, in the marble is a big.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
Gilmore Girls thing, So they had like boxes of cornstarch. Hilarious.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
A funny thing from Matt was on his first day
on set, he was getting so turned around, and so
he kept asking people which direction he was going in,
and no one really cared about who he was. Everyone
kept wanting to know if Chad Michael Murray was coming back,
and he was like, I don't, I don't know, but
I'm here.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Wait, that's funny. I didn't realize that but like fans
were saying that are just people on the on the
people on set.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
We're asking him.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
By the way, Chad Michael Murray has not lost a
piece of hair ever.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
No, he looks good too. I'm not gonna lie. I
think he has more hair.

Speaker 5 (16:16):
Frank yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (16:18):
So.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
Also, this is a funny little Jared tidbit that I
don't know if we've talked about. I used to watch
so his wife they met on Supernatural, Genevieve Padilaki. Now
I can't I think her last name was Cortesi or
something before. I used to watch her on this like
don't show about horses, Wildfire, and it was kind of
like an ABC family show. It was a good show.
Like anyway, what other like little tidbits did we learn

(16:41):
about these guys.

Speaker 5 (16:44):
Team Jess? Oh yeah, he really made that clear, very clear.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
And then Matt kind of hendon hog. Matt was like,
I switch around, because Matt basically was like, I'm Matt's
team Logan, Like, let's not lie, He's If Logan didn't
marry the girl, I could see him being with Rory,
which I am at were team Logan is me because
I think I think they could be endgame.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
He's He gave very critical analysis and said it's purely
situational and that he can't even really conclude what team
he's on because he doesn't know the ending.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
I also love the story, so Manny, hopefully listen to
The Gilmore Girls because because we've talked about this. But yes,
it's an episode where Rory and Dean fall asleep and
when they were filming it, the actors Jared Padilaki and
Alexe Wandel fell asleep and I don't know why. That
just makes me laugh so hard. Oh my god, Dean,

(17:43):
Dean and Logan only had one scene together. Yeah, can
you google that? When did you Logan appear together?

Speaker 1 (17:50):
They only had one scene in the whole series.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
Because they were on there at different times. Oh, Jared
kind of lees now by the way, I'm putting my
sweat back now.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Amy Sugarman is getting cold.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
Matt loves thee hundredth episode, which was Wedding Bell Blues,
and he also loves you Jump by Jump. I know
we're giving you so much Matt and Jared info, but
it was like it was just pouring out at us,
like we need to talk about it for weeks to come.

Speaker 4 (18:17):
Okay, you find Please correct us if Google is wrong,
but it says they were in the same room in
season five, episode eight, but did not interact with one another.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
What episode is that? The Party's over? Can you give
me the basic gist of the episode?

Speaker 5 (18:35):
Sure, I can't.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
Rory is touched when Emily and Richard throw a party
to introduce her to their Yale alumni friends. When Deane
arrives to the party to pick Rory up, it is
clear to him that he has no place in her
privileged world.

Speaker 3 (18:49):
Wait, Logan was in that. I don't think so. I
think Chad Michael Murray was in that.

Speaker 5 (18:55):
No Logan and Dean.

Speaker 3 (18:57):
Okay, when we end this, we'll research this and then
you can all comment to us.

Speaker 5 (19:01):
I now have it pulled up. They were both credited
for this episode.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
Okay. In more important news, because we've gone on long
enough about all the random crap we wanted to talk
about that, we got to get to our Gilmore Girls stuff.
I was watching something and the cast of Nobody wants
this with our favorite.

Speaker 5 (19:22):
Adam Brody.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Yes, they talk about their favorite sandwiches. So I'm going
to tell you theirs, and then I'd like each of
us to tell us tell each other, and everyone listening
the two people but not given up the two people
that are like that was a lot of talking about
the pit and old Adam Brody. Okay, let's see. Somebody

(19:44):
liked the turkey trot at bub and Grandma's, which I
don't know what that is. Somebody liked the Matt Special
at Canner's Deli. These are all people from nobody wants this.
Unfortunately we did not write down who liked what.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
So what it was is these are orders that Adam
Brody has told Kristen Bell.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
Adam Brodie's favorites. Okay, so he likes the turkey burger
with fries. He said, you have to add salt at Carne's.
He likes the Matt Special at Canner's Deli. He likes
the turkey trot above and Grandma's favorite sandwich Manny that
you can get in La.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
It's yeah, it's like a little corner Deli. I believe
it's off of Kowinga. I don't remember the cross streets.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
But what is your order?

Speaker 1 (20:26):
I just look at the wall and say, oh you
got roast beef. Oh you have you know you have
provolon you have? Yeah? All the way above and that's
what I I don't remember what the name is. Remember
it is, yeah, but I get all that.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
Here's what I'm going to say. I love the sandwiches
from now. This is my menopause brain. I cannot remember
the name of the place.

Speaker 5 (20:48):
I'm perfect.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
You're gonna have to text Eileen and say, what's the
place that Amy likes the sandwiches? Okay, I like that third,
but it's not that it's in Santa Monica. It briefly
show down for a brief which is Look, I'm not
saying anything that is in the news. They have reopened

(21:09):
and I am going to try it again. What is
the place? She will know the name and I like
their turkey sandwich. The sandwiches are excellent. Let's all go
back again. I can picture it. This is my menopause brain.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
And you went there with Eileen.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
She picks up sometimes when we have events. She picks
up sandwiches for everybody there. Oh delicious. And I know
they had a brief, you know issue, but they're back.
What is it called? Did you text her? She'll tell us.
And in the meantime, do you have a favorite La sandwich?
And I know you live in New York, so you
may have to give us. Why don't you give mew York,
New York.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
Ooh, give me Lanwich in New York.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
And what is your order and what is it called?
Did you say Landwich?

Speaker 4 (21:49):
Leanwich? And wow, it's a chain, but I really like
their sandwiches. I get a turkey with tomato, avocado, cheese, mustard.

Speaker 3 (22:02):
Made a basic sandwich.

Speaker 5 (22:04):
It's very basic, thinly sice turkey.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
Though, Okay, so I like the fresh roasted turkey. Now,
this is going to take anybody that's from my hometown.
Back in the day, growing up, there was a deli
in my town called Otinos. It's gone now. It was
hands down the best roast beef sandwich other than the
one my grandma made, like so delicious, and then it
went away. And I think I've been searching for thirty

(22:26):
years to replace it and it's never happened. So if
anyone knows the best delis in San Francisco area, anywhere
in the Bay area.

Speaker 5 (22:34):
Please wait, can I tell you one near near us?

Speaker 3 (22:37):
Don't say the one in Walnut Creek.

Speaker 5 (22:40):
I know Maria's or Mauricio's or Marucci's.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
No too far, Bianca's I know beyond I know, I
know Bianca's is a whole thing.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
Though.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
First of all, it's scary in there.

Speaker 5 (22:56):
They're like, I mean, but they actually really liked me.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
I don't know. That's great. Okay, I'm gonna go back
to Beiancas again. I'll give it another try.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
I'll go back. I will say. Bellwood Cafe right near
the Brentwood Studio.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
I know, it's really good chicken pesto. Bellwood is like
iconic if you're ever in the Brentwood, LA area. There's
also brentwoodn't really but like Bellwood is amazing and let
me tell you ten out of service, Like they are
the nicest people. Also, like we have an account there,
so it's like you can't go use it, right, but

(23:33):
like we do so you don't have to have cash.
It's like really helpful. Their breakfast sandwich is also everything
in there is great. First of all, the whole experience
is a pleasure in there.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
Yeah. Yeah, ran into Randy Quaid down.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
There, Randy or Dennis I think you saw Dennis.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
Oh Dennis, Yeah yeah, Dennis Yeah, define.

Speaker 3 (23:50):
Right, person all this is the most off the rails
Gilmore Girls because it ever but yeah, Bellwood is great.
Oh look, I'm gonna say Wood for food in general
is amazing. Now I am gonna try. I want to
try all of Adam's suggestions.

Speaker 5 (24:06):
Yeah, we'll post on the Instagram soever and can try.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
I go, and I'm going to go back to Beyoncas. Yea,
I'm gonna go back to Beyoncas. Yeah, and have people
write in their favorite sandwich in their area. But I
and when I was in college, we had this Luca
Deli the best, and it's gone too, Like, I don't
know why the deli's come and go.

Speaker 5 (24:26):
Owning a restaurant's hard.

Speaker 3 (24:28):
Owning a restaurant is super hard, especially the mom and
pop ones. Oh yeah, rough, really rough. But I also
love a BLT. So if somebody can tell me in
La or San Francisco, Barria the best BLT so simple
and bakery pretty solid. I'm not gonna lie. I don't
know if she has some basic BLT, but her bread

(24:49):
is so good. All right, we've gotten way too off topic.
I know Emma has to go because she's going out
with her grandparents. See, let's see if we forgot any
more stories so we can quickly just rattle off anything else.

(25:12):
Oh Okay, next week I will tell you guys about
Alison Max's podcast, Oh did you ever? Do you know
about the Nixium thing? This is basically an episode of
Listen if you want to, guys, I'm really sorry. This
has been Gazette and more. It's a trial run for
listen if you want to.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
There's so many nuggets in this episode.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
Yeah, and look, people like my recommendations. I don't want
to brag, but when I told people to buy the
Michael J. Fox book Future Boy, they did and they
were not disappointed. They were as thrilled by it as
I was. I cried. I cried it multiple times. Alison
Max podcasts if you have followed the Nixium sex cult thing, Yeah,
first of all, feel how you feel if you find

(25:55):
it to be so awful, I am with you. But
the podcast is fascinating. So yeah, I'm one and a
half episodes in. Almost couldn't stop force myself to say.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
She go into it like she talks about it, and wow, these.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
Two journalists like interview her. I didn't know who they were.
I didn't know anything about it. I just read the
Vanity Fair article and immediately clicked on it. It was
like Wow, first of all best advertising they've ever gotten
was the Vanity Fair article because I was immediately click click,
could not click fast enough click. And now I'm saving
it because there's only seven episodes, so I want to
do it on my walks or like when I really

(26:30):
need the entertainment because it is, I'll keep you updated.
I want it, and I highly recommend it.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
The fact that it was under everybody's noses and as
we were watching this hit show Smallville, so it does have.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
A tide of Gilmour girls. I think it applies because
it was on the CW wasn't at the same time
as gilmogirls. I think it was. It was, and like
this was all happening, and like she says, Kristin Kruk yep,
Lois Lane is the one who introduced her to it.
And then Kristen got out right, you know, I don't
want to say wrong things, but I'm pretty sure my

(27:03):
fact's right on that, and then she was just sucked
in and you feel like I don't know how to
feel yet. I definitely am not like forgiving her, I'll
say that right, but I'm like, I will listen to
this and I will see where I met out. Wow,
and a cult is crazy. It's crazy people suddenly don't

(27:24):
they are suddenly just in a cult. And they didn't
even realize they were in a cult. It's like very weird.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Do we think the Life and Death Brigrade was a
bit of a cult. I'm going to say no. I'm
going to say it was more of a fraternity sorority sex.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
Yeah, I got an answer for your deli Oh, go
for it. Day Cities, Delhi.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
Bay Cities came back to me. The minute you said
you had an answer, the brain went let menopause. Ask Hilda,
if we're going to go again? I think we should. Okay,
I think we should, and I'm gonna try biancas. But
I'm really looking for something new. I need it to
be like there was this place in Danville that was
really good called Dominiques or something, and it was. But

(28:04):
here's my problem. When I find a sandwich, I like,
then I eat it like twenty times, and then I'm like,
I don't want this sandwich anymore. Yeah, that's another problem.

Speaker 5 (28:11):
I agree.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
I'm got any final thoughts before you go out with
your grandparents? Where are you going with your grandparents?

Speaker 5 (28:16):
I just hope, I don't have to dance.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
She's going to a concert with And what do you
call your grandparents? I know it's your grandma.

Speaker 5 (28:21):
It's my graham and my grandpa.

Speaker 3 (28:23):
Your graham and your grandpa, my grandpa. Yep, he's your
step grandpa. Technically correct. You got a lot of grandparents.
But okay, but you love them like a grandpa.

Speaker 4 (28:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
Where are they taking? Are you going to dinner?

Speaker 5 (28:36):
First?

Speaker 4 (28:37):
We are not going to dinner for the sake of time.
The show is at seven point thirty. I'm gonna need
to take the train.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
Are they eighty?

Speaker 5 (28:45):
They are, yep, eighty and they love the subway.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Oh the subway is the train? I didn't get that.

Speaker 5 (28:53):
Okay, sorry, they are very young at heart.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
So you're taking the subway to a show?

Speaker 4 (29:00):
Yep?

Speaker 3 (29:00):
Will there be light bites at the show?

Speaker 5 (29:02):
There might be. I didn't ask too many questions because I, like.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
You don't even know what show you're going to? You know,
said I'll be there yep, So we will not find
out till next week the show.

Speaker 5 (29:09):
You want to correct, and I will be all about it.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
Yes, yeah, okay, great, I will tell you Tom I say.

Speaker 4 (29:16):
Hi, which was referencing Gilmore girls, I'm going to see
the Rockets tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
What so I will also talk about that with Graham
or just brims with Graham. You're doing a back to
back night with Graham and Grandpa.

Speaker 5 (29:28):
I'm gonna need to take a long nap after.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
Yes, is it the holiday show Rockets?

Speaker 5 (29:38):
I am not sure.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
Did Emma just shows up and they of course probably
buy you snacks and merch if you wanted.

Speaker 5 (29:45):
Yes, scanning all night everything, so happy for you, thank you.

Speaker 3 (29:51):
Please next week we will be reviewing the Rockets and
whatever show. Emma is going to write in one hour
that she doesn't know what it is.

Speaker 5 (29:59):
Mm hm correct, this is what I'm wearing.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
Well, that's the oh you're wearing that. I don't think
you're dressed up enough, Emma. I don't have time, Emma,
You've got to throw on some sort of a better talk.
I love your sweater, but it's very daytime.

Speaker 5 (30:16):
It's dark in there.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
You don't have a black cashmire you to throw on.
That's more of a cotton.

Speaker 5 (30:20):
I'll do it for you. I'll throw on a black can.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
Take a picture for the Instagram. So Manny, when we
end it, we say, and that's the news, okay, and
that's the news. That's your cue, and that's the news.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
