I don't usually buy into astrology, but after dropping my phone in the lake, stranded on the side of the road, and a toothache waking me out of my sleep at 3 a.m., I had to take a look at this Mercury Retrograde thing sideways. Turns out, this Leo-based retrograde might actually be targeting Virgos like me--and what's coming next in November might be even wilder!

You did what I'm saying. Now, the campaign is over.

(01:04):
It ended on August eighth. By next week I should
know if I am mister Alumni, I was going up
against another gentleman. We have to see how much money
was raised, and if I raised the most, you're gonna
hear me talking my talk in all sincerity. I really
do hope I win, But even if I didn't, I
learned a lot on this journey. I learned the power

(01:24):
of fundraising. I taught myself the power of group economics.
Like I don't have a final tally, but just a
dollar in a dream campaign, I raised over fifteen thousand dollars.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
I'm proud of that.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Before running for mister Alumni, I had no desire to fundraise.
I had no understanding of how scholarships and endowed scholarships work.
But now that I have been equipped with his knowledge,
I'm hoping that I win, and then I'll get to
travel alongside our chancellor and hopefully educate the next batch
of Rams.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
But to kick off this episode, if.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
I didn't know, maybe you didn't either, I would like
to ask, have you ever had your text misunderstood or
or your laptop just freeze mid project or one of
your exes pop back up like a bad Wi Fi signal?

Speaker 2 (02:08):
That's mercury retrograde. And if you're a virgo like me,
they say it hits extra hard.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Now, first, I'm gonna give you three of the most
useless facts you'll never need not a day in life
about mercury retrograde. Your first useless fact, mercury retrograde is
not the planet actually moving backwards. It's just an optical illusion,
like your bank account after brunch and bills. Your second
useless fact, Mercury rules both Virgo and Gemini. So when

(02:38):
it retrogrades, they say, us virgos fill it in our
mental processing routines. Cause see mercury rules communication and tech
and travel and schedules. So again when it goes into retrograde,
these things tend to get JANKI, especially for US Virgos
and them crazy Gemini, because we're both.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Ruled by mercury.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
And your third useless fact, ancient astrologers they also tracked retrogrades,
but this modern obsession with it, that's new. That gout
hot when astrology met twitter. Yeah yea yeah, astrology met memes.
And now mercury retrograde gets blamed for everything from bad
dates to dropped calls. But those have been your three

(03:17):
useless facts about mercury retrograde.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Mercury isn't actually moving backwards.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Mercury rules both Virgo and Gemini, and historically retrograde panic
wasn't a thing. Now listen, I'm not one to blame
the stars. I'm not into the horoscopes like that. I
don't wake up and read my horoscope. I don't walk
around with the crystals and the rocks. I've survived breakups, bills,
and barber's messing up my lineup, and I never blamed

(03:44):
mercury once.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
But these past two weeks, man.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
I dropped my phone in Lake Norman, not near it,
in it my Tesla got a flat and did you
know Tesla's didn't come with spare tires. Yeah, me, neither,
I do now after three hours on the side of
the road, and then I got hit with a toothache
at three in the morning Sunday. That felt like it
was coming from a past life root canal, pending all

(04:07):
of that back to back, and I'm a Virgo, so
naturally I started googling things I normally laugh at, like, wait,
what is mercury retrograde again?

Speaker 2 (04:18):
I didn't know. I didn't know. I didn't I didn't know.
I didn't know.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
I didn't know.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
I didn't know.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Apparently, this retrograde July eighteenth to August eleventh is happening
in Leo, and that's important because Leo rules pride, ego,
and expression, and for the Virgos is hitting our twelfth House,
and our twelfth House deals with hidden emotions, isolations, things
we try to ignore. So basically, it feels like life
is glitching and we don't know why. It might be

(04:53):
the planetary Wi Fi acting up.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Now.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
I don't fully believe this stuff, but I do believe
in patterns, and if there's a season where tech, travel
and teeth all betrayed me at once, maybe it's something
going on with this. Maybe it's not the universe punishing me.
Maybe it's just trying to get my attention, slow me down,
make me pay attention to things I usually ignore, like
rest or patients or reading tire manuals. So I start

(05:17):
to internalize it. When it says mercury and retrograde messes
up communication, it damn sure does.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
When I dropped my phone in Lake Norman.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
I still ain't got all my text messages or emails.
I guess it wasn't sent to the cloud. When it
says it messes up schedules, it damn sure does. I
was on my way to Greensboro, ended up at seventy
eleven parking lot for three hours because my tesla didn't
have a spare tire. And you want to go back
to communication, I've been so doped up on oxyes and
toller nalls and ibuprofen. I feel like I talked as

(05:47):
slow as a sloth walks. So nah, I'm not all
the way sold. But if mercury retrograde is the reason
my week's been trash, our, it an apology and maybe
a Google search, because if that ain't enough, It's another
mercury retro grade coming up in November, and this one
starts in Sagittarius but slides back into Scorpio. To imagine
going from questioning your path to questioning people's motives. If

(06:11):
this retrograde is about miscommunication, the next one might be
about deep truths, secrets and setting boundaries virgos. We might
as well get our notebooks ready now. So no, I'm
still not blaming the stars for everything. But if Mercury's
got a problem with me, I just wanted to say that.
In the meantime, I'm backing up my files might be

(06:31):
looking into some of these crystals and warning you that
next week's episode might sound a little different because I'll
be fresh off a root canal. You're believe in this
mercury retrograde stuff, let me know on Instagram. I DK
myde there could be some truth to it, and I
didn't know.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Maybe you didn't either,
