Speaker 1 (00:05):
I hate you the same.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Let's go to man.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
One ready for launch.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Welcome back, ladies, gentlemen, gentle germs, lady germs. We are in.
We are all in for a very very very special treat.
A couple of weeks ago, some of you may know
that Emily had an incredible show here in Miami, her
(00:50):
first show in three years, over three years live, and
it was quite the start button to a lot of
wonderful things. And we posted a video online that had
extreme success as well deserved, and so many people out
there commented that they were sad that they didn't get
to partake in all of the fun. So, well, here
(01:13):
we are. We thought, why not bring the spaceship of
fun to all of you?
Speaker 4 (01:20):
Eh?
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Oh, waitbe why don't you tell the people a little
bit about what we got going on today?
Speaker 5 (01:29):
All right?
Speaker 6 (01:29):
So today is a very very special in our own world,
not only because I have half of my amazing aliens
here with me, and I'll go about one by one later.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
They're like Emily and the Space Cats.
Speaker 5 (01:40):
Yeah, Emily the Aliens.
Speaker 6 (01:42):
But anyway, it's a very special moment because this podcast
means so much to me. But my music is the
other half of who I am and who you are?
You know, Jem plays in my band, she's saying she
plays violin. And these incredible people behind us, all here
today are a little piece of what makes up when
we explore in the musical world of the multi verse.
(02:04):
So what better way to give the people who have
been here with us on the pod an exclusive little
insight into not only something that we've never done before,
because if anybody knows me, you know that it's either
the full band or nothing I know.
Speaker 5 (02:17):
So this has really never.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Happened Emily without whorn geez.
Speaker 6 (02:22):
And also, we're gonna play a song today that's not released,
that is not in the universe that the only place
you could hear is right here with.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
Us, so soon, very soon. But you guys are gonna
have the exclusive.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
That's crazy, that's so exciting. All right, Well, I'm here
for the ride. I'm happy to be a part of it.
So are we going?
Speaker 5 (02:42):
First?
Speaker 6 (02:43):
So we're gonna play a couple of songs for you.
And before I played the songs, I'm gonna give a
little bit of insight on maybe what made me write them,
what was the intention behind it, which is something else
that maybe a lot of people don't know, all right,
So we're gonna start with fu De band. So, first
of all, when I wrote this song, and thank you
for baby opening this space for me. You know, you're
(03:05):
my rock and I have so much fun with you
on this podcast, and you are such a special important
of my musical journey.
Speaker 5 (03:12):
And I know you're trying to quit the band, but
I'm not gonna let you.
Speaker 6 (03:14):
It's just because I like being a part of our audience,
not for any other reason. It's a lot of fun,
Oh my god. So I will give you a little
insight on this song. This is the first song I
ever recorded and wrote for myself ever, so much so
that when I recorded it, I was studying at Berkeley,
and I was so excited and wrote the song completely
(03:35):
in like ten minutes. And it was my first time
working with a virtual software like a logic or pro tools,
the way that people record music.
Speaker 5 (03:43):
You know what I mean, in a software, You know
exactly what that. But I was learning. I had literally
just got there.
Speaker 6 (03:48):
So I recorded the whole music and my drums and
my neighbors can buy and told me to shut up
and all this crap, and then I needed to record
the vocal over it, but my mix was too loud,
was so loud, so I kept trying to record the
vocal over and I couldn't hear myself and my stupidity,
I'm like, oh.
Speaker 7 (04:05):
My god, I could have just turned everything else.
Speaker 6 (04:09):
So I ended up recording my vocal in another session
on top of the instrumental for this track, which is
like crazy, that's crazy as shit, you know, But that's
how the song was created. And here we are now
gonna sing it for you guys. We obviously fixed the
mix and made it work, but all I'm saying is,
if you have a song in your heart, record it
(04:32):
any way you can, because that doesn't mean that it's
not going to make it to the world. So after
that belabored introduction, welcome fuck to be here we go.
Speaker 7 (04:44):
What will they.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
Turn by?
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Catch your coat? Look for falling stones, can't phone? Who
want to eat? Humble tongue, don't go stand straight, lose
some weight, Devils in the small cool straight, got to stick,
Drive me to a toe, show me something, not a lie.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Time.
Speaker 7 (05:16):
I have to take my life.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
I'm not walking in the umble. See my number's name,
my one.
Speaker 5 (05:24):
A hall of fame.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Then you'll press this time with TV.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
You can't tell me who the fuck to be?
Speaker 5 (05:44):
Wear skirts, deep composed.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
Don't cha stop the balls, drench shaws, get with your
future goals, Drive slow, don't say no, stop it off signs.
Put the brain in school waiting all the lines. Show
me something, not a lie.
Speaker 5 (06:04):
Time.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
I had to take my eyes.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
I'm not walking in a wool city bird remember losing
my one Hall of fame.
Speaker 5 (06:13):
Spend your precious time with you. You can't tell me
who the fuck to be? Jump up, up.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Up, show me something not alive till I had to
take eyes.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
I'm not a wool.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
See my number, he's my name. I don't want to
follow fame.
Speaker 7 (07:06):
Then your precious time to me show me something now,
I tell my I had.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
To say bye, I'm not walking in a wool.
Speaker 5 (07:15):
See my number, my name, I.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Want to follow fame.
Speaker 5 (07:20):
Then your precious time. What you mean you can't tell
me who the fuck to be? Never ever? Ow all right?
That was fun to be everybody. I hope you enjoyed.
It was a very calm com com song.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
And you know we're just here to get buddy bag.
Speaker 7 (07:41):
Please.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
I wish I had one hundred, one hundred thousands.
Speaker 5 (07:49):
And I have to like that one. That was great.
That was fire all right?
Speaker 6 (07:56):
All right, so that was fun to be What's next, babe?
Me tell me we're here having a musical journey. Should
I introduce a band or no?
Speaker 3 (08:04):
I love that, I would love that. Yeah, iroduce your
band to everybody.
Speaker 6 (08:08):
First of all, there are few people missing here today,
so I honor them and hold space for them, including
my MD, my horn section. You know, so many people
that make such a special part of my band, and
like fill in the sound because that's another thing, Like
I love talking to people about music, and Jim, maybe
you can tell me because you've been a part of
(08:31):
music for so long like me, and something about being
able to play with people and understanding what it's like
to do that and just like the spectrum of sound
and you know, horns are high and bass is low,
and you know violin is here and voices are here.
Speaker 5 (08:46):
So yeah, I know music means a lot to you too, so.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Of course it does. I mean, honestly, I wasn't somebody
who thought that I'd be doing music at this point
in my life, and I'm very lucky to do it
here with the whole band or just a piece of it,
or like I said, just to be in your audience.
I mean, it's killer, it's it's amazing. It's the language
of love.
Speaker 5 (09:04):
I love you, baby, I love you too. I know
you're trying to quit the band, but please don't.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
We'll see. So wait, who's here with us?
Speaker 5 (09:10):
All right?
Speaker 6 (09:10):
So I'm gonna take this moment for my band members
that are here to introduce to you. First of all,
this is the hottest bitch I've ever met, Jeminy Hernandez.
I hope she'll go out on a date with me later.
She is a violinist, vocalist, dancer extraordinaire. Sometimes she shares
a bed with me. And then we have the amazing Diana,
(09:35):
who is an incredible vocalist, amazing, amazing actor, amazing human being.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
It's funny Dana and I have known each other forever.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
Yeah, you guys went to school together.
Speaker 6 (09:43):
Jem has introduced me to amazing musicians and one of
them is Diana, but also an amazing person.
Speaker 5 (09:48):
So thank you for being here. We love you so much,
so amazing. And we have Arian Guinis, which is also
fucking mun.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Oh.
Speaker 5 (09:58):
Yeah, Makina.
Speaker 6 (10:02):
Like just such a great guy, such an incredible musician,
So grateful for you much better than me, which is
like anybody that's around me playing percussion, I want them
to be better because too, you make me better, So
thank you.
Speaker 5 (10:18):
These guys are all right everyone. This guy he plays.
Speaker 6 (10:37):
Bass, and if anybody that really knows bass, the best
basses are unsuspecting and like pretending not to be nasty
and then they just ripped I don't know where.
Speaker 5 (10:45):
So this is this guy, one of the best man the.
Speaker 6 (10:58):
Rico like guitarist and I have a beautiful symbiotic musical
relationship because I am like aggressive out of the gate,
and he's like behind me, supporting and patting me and
doing everything that I can't because he's much more school
than I am, but I'm much more engross. So we
make an amazing, you know, team, and that is the
people that are here right.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
Now amazing and of course miss Emily and Stefan herself,
everybody give it up for her.
Speaker 6 (11:25):
I'm all right, all right, So now I'm going to
do a song called Undone, which is as explained by
the title something that, as you can imagine, there are
(11:47):
a lot of sad songs in the world that make
you feel better, right like I feel like a lot
of amazing songwriters or people who have written songs take
it from pain, right. So this is one of those
songs that in the moment when I wrote it, I
was actually really really really hurting.
Speaker 5 (12:01):
But then when I was done, I felt so much better, honestly.
Speaker 6 (12:04):
So if I have any you know, like advice to
anybody out there hearing this song, it's that I hope
when you're hearing it, by the end of it you
feel the slightest bit better. That's all I want for you,
because it's about heartbreak and it's about just feeling like
somebody just ripped you open and left you there.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
Okay, yeah, but you can build it up. Hello, it's gorgeous.
Speaker 6 (12:26):
Look you're here now, and you stitch me right back up? Baby, No, no, listen, listen.
They can tell you whatever you want. But last night
I couldn't sleep because I was nervous about this whole
recording and who held me in the morning?
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Was it you?
Speaker 7 (12:38):
Or was it not?
Speaker 5 (12:39):
I mean I hope it was me.
Speaker 6 (12:40):
Gosh, all right, So this is a song called Undone,
and by the end of this I hope that you
a will be redone And if not, well that's your fault.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
Here we go, Here we go, what.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
Aim to please? Coppe burns on and he's becoming puppy.
Came all theture followed by the alone.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
The fun is look.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
Save you'll see you don't hold forest trees.
Speaker 5 (13:31):
You chose the dusty forgive for sure, forgettobs.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
You you.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
Left me, uh time time dry hand and supply the
man trust me any more? But Ampathy doesn't have company.
(14:05):
It's a mean on my wall. All let's see with
my solilo queen an from the show.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
But I'll cut ship.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
I had one chitz, I was it?
Speaker 4 (14:22):
You left me? Oh stitches her and leave a scratch
blue leaves her residue from.
Speaker 5 (14:41):
The past, So safe your cures.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
You chose the dep.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
He left me. You loved me, You left me, He
loved me.
Speaker 7 (15:13):
Left me? Ah du.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Yeah, money.
Speaker 7 (15:43):
Great?
Speaker 5 (15:44):
All right, that was undone, guys. I hope you enjoyed it,
and I hope you feel redone loved it?
Speaker 2 (15:50):
All right? Baby?
Speaker 5 (15:50):
What's next? All right?
Speaker 3 (15:51):
Well, first of all, I also want to take a
moment to acknowledge two people that you didn't mention earlier.
We got Chris in the house. Everybody knows Chris. Yes,
we couldn't do this without Chris Season's favorite, and we
got Alejandro in the house running the sound. Couldn't do
it without them. Yeah, baby, you're absolutely right. I'm so
(16:12):
sorry I missed you guys. Clearly I don't care that
much about you, all right. So we've made it to
a moment in the.
Speaker 6 (16:21):
In our beautiful time together where we're about to play
a song that is not existing in the world right
now except for right here in our own mother f
and world.
Speaker 5 (16:29):
All right.
Speaker 6 (16:30):
This is a new song that's coming out very very
soon that I wrote and unreleased and unreleased, and it's
a story song, so which I love because I love
to be taken on a journey by music. And sometimes
it's harder to write songs about my own experience, which
is cool, Like I write a lot of songs about
my own pain, trust me. But this one is about
something that I imagined, and it's about this amazing first
(16:52):
generation woman who's so inspired and so rocking and ready
to work and do her thing that she's distracted by
the fact that the man who's in love with her
loves her, but he has an ulterior motive. He's gonna
do something to her that she's not prepared from that. No,
she's distracted.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
So she's distracted because she doesn't and she doesn't see
what he's doing right.
Speaker 6 (17:17):
So at the end of the day, she ends up
being very distracted because she appreciates that he loves her
and that he's there for her, but it's not her focus.
She wants to make money, she wants to grind, she
wants to be on the street. She loves the hustle
and bustle of the city, so she doesn't mind that
he's around, but she's not paying enough attention because the
whole time he's been plotting to take all her shit
(17:40):
and just fucking dip.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
Yeah, sinister, But luckily we have this song called Guy
yea oOoOO Guy Now.
Speaker 6 (17:49):
Further Ado and to your ears Soon. In a very
different manner, but equally as unique, we have Goya, what.
Speaker 5 (18:08):
Don't know me, Miami, don't worry.
Speaker 7 (18:10):
Not that storycorning buys go don't.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
She chased the money, he found herself and the man
fell in love.
Speaker 5 (18:19):
With the planets to drop the world and her head,
and so they.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
Headed to the guy.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
They always walked together on thee.
Speaker 5 (18:29):
She told them magic happens in lie.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
He love her.
Speaker 5 (18:33):
She loves shed if you see her and lasky.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
Night Lord for the Tree.
Speaker 5 (18:39):
He was passed by her surprise. Her men was still
by the side. Her bank ad count on the rise.
He cheered on the front side line.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
But one day she will lay and listen.
Speaker 5 (18:49):
Lord of the cap to let her song too late,
and so they.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
Had it to the guy.
Speaker 4 (18:56):
She knew he right away.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
It dies.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
You took it on a pucker.
Speaker 5 (19:03):
He loves her.
Speaker 7 (19:04):
She loves she if he sees her and asking her, he's.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
A lot of poor the tree.
Speaker 6 (19:20):
M bye yea.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
God, Yeah, he loves her, does she if he sees
her and asking now, he's a lot of pasa tree,
no loner.
Speaker 5 (19:47):
