Speaker 1 (00:12):
So there's new unnecessary drama in the vander Verse, the
vander Pump universe. So many of you may not know
who Dave Portnoy is, but he's a very opinionated, polarizing,
definitely outspoken podcaster. He has an online gambling business and

(00:35):
he's a stock trader, but he's mostly known for his
opinions and he's got a whole bro army in a
bro culture that he fosters, and that's his brand. So
Dave Portnoy was in a relationship with his girl, Sylvana

(00:56):
and they recently broke up. And you know this because
she was crying and she was talking about these cards
that she got him and they broke up. That's how
we all found out. It was in page six because
she was crying. I thought they were very serious. He
bought her a luxury car. They seemed to live together,

(01:17):
travel all over the world together. They seem perfect. That
just shows the bs of social media, but we can
unpack that another time. So they break up. The next
thing that comes out in the media, which started on
these blogs I think or on readit, was that Dave
Portnoy had an affair while in a relationship with Sylvana

(01:40):
with Rachel formerly known as Raquel from vandr Punt. So
I'm reading this thinking, what the hell you know? Is
it possible? Yes, it's possible, but it just doesn't seem
in line with who Rachel has become and her working

(02:01):
on herself. Incidentally, the reason that they were linked to
each other is because Dave was reviewing pizza in a
small town outside Chicago and Rachel was there visiting family
during the holidays, and someone saw them getting coffee at
the same place, not at the same time, but on
the same day, which says so much about citizen journalism

(02:25):
and the dangers of there being no sources and the
damage that irresponsible reporting can do. So I'm reading this,
and then I read in the post after so many
people blew up my phone last night, I took my
daughter and a friend to go an hour and a
half away to look at these gorgeous Christmas lights, and

(02:47):
my phone starts exploding because in page six it says
that Dave deny being with Rachel and says I wouldn't
be with that trash bag. Trash bag, So that to
me was firing a random shot, Like I thought to myself,
why did he call her a trash bag, like does

(03:08):
he know her? And then I found out they don't
know each other. They've never met, she doesn't know who
he is. The first time she's ever heard his name
is when she read about it in page six. So
I'm thinking, why would Dave call her a trash bag?
I know Dave if he's been on this podcast twice.

(03:30):
I've asked him advice on my podcast Negotiations. We've texted
a bunch of times, we've spoken on the phone a
few times. I definitely am not close with him, and
I've never seen him in person, And if anything, I've
asked him for advice and reached out to him way
more than he's ever reached out to me. But I
still didn't understand why he would call her a trash bag.

(03:52):
Years ago, he was linked to Sonia and she said
something provocative talking about like them getting a hotel or something,
and he then publicly said called her gross or said
that's gross. But I texted her and said stand down,
like you don't want to be involved in this, and
she doesn't, and that was him clapping back, and you know,

(04:14):
she asked for it. Frankly, she provoked him and he
said something in this case, Rachel's done nothing. She went
away for several months to work on herself. She's been
walking the walk, she's been quiet, she hasn't done anything.
And whatever Dave knows about her is from whatever he's
read in the media or watched on a produced, alcohol

(04:37):
fueled edited television show. And it would be different if
he were on his podcast talking about Vanderpump, like recapping episodes,
you know, and then talking about her. But instead he
just months later is just firing a random missile, unprovoked

(04:58):
on someone who he had has no idea about. So
I believe that he owes her an apology. You just
don't need to be calling anyone a trash bag, not
to mention in twenty twenty three, not to mention a
woman and a woman who's started on reality TV at
twenty years old, like if I were only judged for
everything I did in my twenties. So I never share

(05:21):
personal texts. I think that's a violation, you know, unless
there's something that's being done that's illegal, or you know,
there's a reason. But I don't believe in sharing personal texts.
But I was texting with him and he definitely is
unapologetic about it, And I'm not an expert on online
gambling and trading stocks, and I wouldn't give him advice

(05:45):
on that or express my opinion on that. But he's
expressing an opinion on reality TV when I am an
expert on that and I have institutional knowledge on that topic.
So he's believing everything that has been fed to him
by this machine, the same machine that has said pretty
negative things about him that he has tried to fight
and dispel. So I still believe that Dave portnoy owes

(06:09):
Rachel an apology, because there's no reason to call anybody
a trash bag, particularly when they don't know you, They
have no idea who you are, and it's just firing
a random shot
