Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hello again, and welcome back to kids' Bible stories. Today's
story is called a Jar full of Miracles. This comes
from tewod King, chapter four, verses one through seven. I'm
thrilled you're joining us today because we have a truly
remarkable scripture to share with you. Now, if I were

(00:24):
to ask you what hope, faith, and all of oil
have in common, what would you say?

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Hmm?

Speaker 1 (00:33):
It sounds like an unusual combination, doesn't it. But yes,
you heard that correctly. All of oil is going to
play a starring role in today's adventure, showing the power
and love of God. Imagine if you will, a small
town nestled under the vast open skies, where the people

(00:55):
know each other by name and share in each other's
joys and sorrows. In this town lives a widow. A
widow is a woman whose husband has passed away. Well,
this widow, much like any brave hero of our stories,
she faced a challenge so big it threatened to change

(01:16):
her and her son's lives forever. Yet it's in the
face of such overwhelming odds that God shows anything as
possible with him. Let's begin our story here as the

(01:41):
first light of dawn gently woke the world. The skies
painted in brilliant shades of pink and orange. There stood
a small, tanned stone house. This home, which looked like
so many others, was filled with love but also worry. Inside,

(02:05):
a widow pondered over her family's troubles. She paced the
dirt floor back and forth. It felt like one thousand
pounds was placed upon her sagging shoulders. The debt she
owed loomed over her, threatening to snatch away her two
precious sons. Let's pause briefly so you understand what debt is.

(02:33):
A debt usually refers to money. It's when you either
borrow money or get an item like food or a
house without pain for the whole thing. This means you
owe that person money. Imagine you have a friend who
shares their snack with you at school. They give you
a cookie thanks, but you don't have anything to give

(02:56):
them back right away.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
I promise to bring you a snack tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
I'm returning.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
She promises to pay her back for this in the future.
That's like owing a debt. Well, her husband owed a debt,
and after he died, I've come to collect the debt
that your husband owed. Oh well, I don't have it.

(03:22):
Please please give me time. I beg you, sir. Not
only did she not have it, but she didn't really
have a way to make the money to pay it.
Do you think this would feel hopeless impossible? Yes? Okay,

(03:44):
back to our story, boys, she said one morning, her
voice a mixture of determination and worry. We're going to
find a way through this together. Her sons, young and
full of trust, nodded. She slipped on her sandals and

(04:07):
rushed out the door in search of a solution. Her
eyes scanned left and right until finally she found who
she was looking for.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Elisha.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
She cried, Elisha, Elisha, Oh, Elisha, it's not good, your servant.
My husband is dead, and you know that he revered
the Lord. Oh but now his creditor is coming. Oh
to take my two boys as his slaves if I

(04:43):
can't pay the debt. Listeners say out loud if you
remember what Elisha was, abe prophet. Yes, he loved God
and was known far and wide for his connection with
God and his miraculous works. Elisha looked up at her

(05:06):
cry and replied.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
How can I help you? Tell me? What do you
have in your house?

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Your servant has nothing? There at all, She said, well,
accept a small jar of olive oil. Elisha considered this.
Then he instructed.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Her, saying, hmm, go around and ask all your neighbors
for empty jars. Don't ask for just a few. Then
go inside and shut the door behind you and your son's.
Then pour the oil into all the jars, and as

(05:53):
each is filled, put it to the side.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Imagine, listeners, that you're asked to take your one small
cup of water and keep pouring it into many large jars.
Does it sound like you'll have enough water? No way?
Does it seem impossible. Yes, this widow was a real person,

(06:22):
just like you. She could measure, she could do math
in her mind. She too realized this didn't make sense,
But she had a decision to make. Would she trust
the god of the universe and what he could do,
or would she trust what she could see what her

(06:45):
human logic told her. Let's find out as we continue.
Elisha didn't say anything else. They simply looked at one another,
and she nodded as if to say okay. Immediately she

(07:07):
left him into her house. She ran, shutting the door
behind her and her sons with faith as their guide,
the widow and her sons set out gathering jars from neighbors,
their arms laden with emptiness ready to be filled. Excuse

(07:28):
giu cho treconbol in obedience. They went to each door.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Asking, please, need any jaws, have ten montenci.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
Once the jars were gathered together in the solitude of
their home, they witnessed a miracle unfold. The sons took
turns bringing the jars to her, and she kept pouring
and pouring and boring. As soon as one was filled,

(08:03):
the other son quickly placed an empty jar under his
mother's jar. Their hearts raised, no one dared to speak,
afraid of interrupting the miracle. When all the jars were full,
she said to her son's quick bring me another one,
but he replied, Mom, those not it.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Joe left.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Then the oil stopped flowing. The room was filled with
wonder and the smell of olive oil. Each jar, now
brimming with oil, shimmered in the flickering light, a beacon
of hope and God's provision. After this, the widow, with

(08:51):
happy tears tracing her cheeks and a smile that radiated,
ran with joy and told the Man of.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
God, Oh Elisha, oh dear Elisha, thank you, Thank God,
you wouldn't believe the miracle, or maybe you would.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
She shared what happened, and Elisha.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Said, good, go sell the oil and pay your debts.
You and your sons you can live on what's left.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Well, that is it for our story today. But before
we go, let's think about what we just heard. Answer
out loud. What was going to happen if she couldn't
pay the debt? Her sons would be sold as slaves. Yes.

(09:50):
When she asked Elisha for his help, what did he
tell her to go get jos Yes? And though she
only had a little bit of olive oil, was she
able to fill up every single jar they had gathered? Yes? Exactly.

(10:11):
The widow's journey from despair to hope was not just
her own, but became a testament to the power of
faith in God's unwavering support for his children. She sold
the oil, cleared their debt, and God gave them enough
to ensure a future for her family, all from a

(10:33):
small jar of oil that multiplied. This reminds us that
in times of trouble, God's provision is only a prayer away.
When the widow felt she had nothing left, God used
what little she did have to create abundance more than enough.

(10:54):
It teaches us that God's miracles often start with what
we already have in our hands. So what's the jar
of all of oil in your life? Remember it's not
about the size of what we have, but it's about
the greatness of our God. When we trust and obey Him,

(11:17):
just like the widow did, we open the doors to
miracles we never thought possible. Remember God is always listening
and he cares about every detail of your life. Until
next time, keep filling your jars with faith, hope and love.
