I recorded some stories and hoped that by uploading them to a podcast app, my wife and kids could have easy access to listen. Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hey, friends, it's mister Jim and welcome back to kid
Short Stories. If this is your first time, welcome to
the family. We have a ton of fun here. And
for all of my other awesome listeners, thank you for
listening every day. I know you have so many different
options to listen from, but parents, thank you for inviting
our stories into your home, into your.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Cars, and into sleepy time. Well, friends, are you ready
for today's adventure?

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Me too? Let go. It was a beautiful day today
as Friends was working in his backyard. He was doing
a whole bunch of outdoor chores, which were some of

(00:51):
his favorite things to do. He had just become big
enough to cut the grass, which was something he had
looked forward to for many, many years. He loved the
sound of the lawnmower and the smell hm of freshly

(01:14):
cut grass. It was a perfect day. The temperature was
just right, and there was a nice breeze flowing through
his hair.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
All right, it.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Looks like the grass is all done.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
It looks so good, said Renzo.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
All right, now that the grass is done, gotta blow
some of the leaves and edge the grass.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
All right, I'll go do that right now.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
He ran back to the garage to get a few
more tools. Do you like to do chores and jobs
outside around where you live? Yeah, maybe that means cutting
the grass like Rinzo, or maybe sweeping off the sidewalk,
or maybe even washing your parents' car. There are so

(02:03):
many fun jobs and fun chores to do to help
your family while still being able to be outside. As
Renzo was doing this next job on his list, off
in the distance, he heard a familiar sound. Is that the
ice cream truck? Shouted Renzo, Oh, I gotta finish this

(02:27):
real quick, and then I can go get a dollar upstairs.
Renzo always loved hearing the ice cream truck that would
drive past his house. Have you ever heard that sound
of an ice cream truck? That can be a very
exciting sound. Renzo hurried to finish the rest of his
outdoor chores and then race back to his room to

(02:49):
grab a dollar from his wallet. He had been working
very hard for a while to save up his money.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
But spending a dollar at the ice cream truck.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Was definitely well worth it. I hope I didn't miss it,
said Renzo as he ran out the front door. I
still kind of hear it, But where is it?

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Do do do.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Do? Do?

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Do?

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Do?

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Do do?

Speaker 1 (03:17):
He put his hand over his eyes because it was
really sunny, and looked up and down the street and
he couldn't see it anywhere, and then something caught his
eye in the sky. What in the oh no, it's
crashing the takeover. Renzo dove behind some bushes. Yeah, what

(03:42):
in the world did he see in the sky? You wonder, Well,
this is where the story takes a very interesting turn. Boom,
the ground shook as Renzo was still huddled underneath a bush. Nearby,
something had, something very large, had crashed Inrenzo's backyard. He

(04:05):
ran around the side of the house to take a
closer look, and he couldn't believe it, but it was
in ice cream truck. Renzo's mouth fell open as he
tried to figure out how in the world this got here.
But then he remembered that there must be somebody inside
and he needed to go check and see if they
were okay. He ran closer to the ice cream truck

(04:28):
that was now wedged in his backyard dirt. You know,
it had crashed into the dirt and mud in the backyard,
so its back tires were up off the ground, and
it was kind of tilted at an angle. Hello, hello,
is anybody there? Are you okay? Said Lorenzo as he
ran towards the front door.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
Oh my, I think I must have forgotten to turn
left back there, said a voice from inside of the
ice cream truck.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Renzo couldn't believe it.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
But there was a polar bear in the driver's seat
as he walked out of the crashed truck. Oh hello, hello, my, um,
are you okay? Can I get you anything?

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Said Renzo?

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Oh? Yes, yes, could you help me understand where in
the universe I have crashed?

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Um? Well, this is my backyard, and I'm not exactly
sure what you mean. Are you lost? The polar bear
reached back inside of the truck and pulled out a map.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yes, you see right here. I was supposed to.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Turn left at the moon, and I think I might
have accidentally gone right.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
You're funny, all right? No, but seriously, where are And
it was just then that Renzo finally realized something amidst
all the he had missed the part of seeing the
rockets on the back of this ice cream truck. It
didn't have any tires. It was not your average ice
cream truck. It was some kind of space ice cream truck.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Whoa you?

Speaker 1 (06:17):
You're from space and and you were talking polar bear.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
I'm very confused.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
I didn't know there was ice cream or polar bears
in space. Tell me everything.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Oh well, I think you can see I'm I'm a
polar bear. I've lived my whole life on Pluto, where
I've mastered the most delicious recipe of ice cream, and
an opportunity presented itself to where I could drive an
ice cream truck around space, and that's.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
My job now. But I've never been to such a
place like this. What planet is this again?

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Wow, that's amazing, said Renzo. Oh this is planet Earth,
Planet Earth.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
I oh wow, I've never been here before. Yeah, it's
pretty awesome, and we definitely like our ice cream. I
think you'll find a lot of people that might want
to buy your Pluto ice cream. I've never had Pluto
ice cream before, said Renzo.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
He was getting pretty excited about a lot of things,
but first, I think he needed to help this new
friend of his fix his ice cream space truck. Hey,
I'll go grab some shovels and help dig your truck
out of all this dirt. Wow, that would be great,
Renzo ran over to his garage to grab some shovels

(07:38):
and came back and started scooping the dirt. He was
greeted by the Polar Bear, who was holding a giant
bowl of delicious Space Pluto ice cream.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Would you like to try some of this delicious.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
Pluto ice cream? Renzo's eyes were very, very large.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Yes, please? Oh do you know what would go so
good with? Let me run inside and grab some sprinkles.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Wait a second, what are sprinkles?

Speaker 1 (08:05):
You don't know what sprinkles are, said Renzo as he
rushed inside to grab some sprinkles. I guess in Space. Uh,
they don't have sprinkles. Strange. Rainzo came back outside holding
a container of bright red and white sprinkles.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
Here check this out.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
He shook the bottle over the ice cream and all
the sprinkles splashed down onto the ice cream, and the
Polar Bear was very surprised.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
WHOA, that does look pretty amazing.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
The rest of the afternoon, Rerenzo and his new Polar
Bear friend spent trading ice cream secrets. By the end
of the day, Renzo had dug out the ice cream
truck from the dirt and waved goodbye as his new friend,
the Polar Bear drove back off to space.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
Beep beep beep.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Thanks for your help, Renzo wave the Polar Bear out
the window. Wow, what an amazing day that Renzo has had.
I've never heard of a space ice cream truck. I'm
definitely gonna be keeping my eyes open and my mouth
ready just in case one crashes down in my backyard.

(09:17):
And you should too. The end. Great job, you listened
all the way to the end, and you know what
time it is.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
It's time for Kid shout Out.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
