Speaker 1 (00:05):
Let me talk about talk.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
There we go.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
He said, you live in life pas a.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Ringo, where you question where you fit in every time
you mingle.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
They say you do this would none of that, my
Rappit is really bad, this life pas aingo. Yes, hello,
and welcome to another episode of Life as a Gringo.
I am dramos, of course, and first and foremost, if
this sounds like complete and utter garbage, I sincerely apologize.
I am not home, I am not in my studio.

(00:38):
I am stranded. Not stranded, I'm exaggerating here. I am
happily delayed in Puerto Rico right now. My flight was
supposed to leave at this point. I was supposed to
be boarding the plane as we speak. I was planning

(00:59):
on getting this podcast in a little later today.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
But my flight.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Let me let me, let me just backtrack a little
bit here, and it's gonna be kind of an all
over the place episode. I'm gonna share with you a
recording actually did of the Streets podcast, my other podcast,
because as I was like trying to figure out, like
scramble to figure out what I was gonna do for
the podcast, all of a sudden, I like, look and
I'm like I recorded this episode of the Street and

(01:29):
I had only put it up exclusively on the.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Just Be Social Club Patreon.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
But I looked at like the title and I found
it to be so appropriate, and it said You're on
an adventure. And that was the title of this podcast
that I had recorded exclusively for the just Be Social
Club and I never shared it anywhere else, and I
was just like, man, you are absolutely I am on
an adventure.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
So I'm fully embracing that adventure right now.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
So, like long story short, I had a flight at
one time, and then I get a text message, your
flight is delayed.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
I'm like, all right, whatever.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
And then I get another text message, your flight is delayed.
And then I get another text message, your flight is
delayed again. So at this point we're teeter tottering in
like this middle ground where I'm like, listen, I am
either going to like waste an entire day here on
the island, just like in this weird in between stage,
because I'm at my house over here, so I'm not

(02:26):
like in the middle of like you know, the beach
or the pool or anything like that. So normally I'm
uber over to like the Metro area to go hang
out but waiting on this flight, I'm like, I'm gonna
go over the go all the way over there, twenty
five minutes there, probably hit traffic coming back, then I
have to like, you know, hit head to the airport.
Right after that, I nowhere to put my bags, and

(02:46):
I apologize to you hearing background noise. They're literally like
doing work on the house, and somehow at the same
exact time, the landscaping people are here as.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Well, So I apologize.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
It's a bit of a shit show. But as the
podcast title suggests, you're on an adventure, right. So I'm
like sitting in this thing where I'm like, all right,
the airline is offering me, you want to change your
flight for tomorrow. Here's a bunch of options, no charge.
I'm like, okay, Like you know what, I'm not gonna
I'm not gonna do this. I'm like, I want to
just I'm gonna get back home. I'm not gonna do
the same thing I did last time, where I just
keep moving my flight and you know, I'm just like

(03:21):
avoiding life. But again, I want to go back to
that quote, You're on an adventure, right, So the last
straw for me because I did end up changing my flight.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
I'm sitting here.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
I'm like, all right, let me just like plan out
what I'm doing for the podcast, and I'm like checking
emails and stuff. I get a text message from one
of my friends back home and they're like, Hey.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Are you stealing Puerto Rico by any chance?

Speaker 3 (03:43):
And I'm like, yeah, I'm supposed to be flying out
like later this afternoon.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
I don't know what's going on my flight.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
You's getting delayed and they're like, oh, okay, well I
just landed, and you're not gonna believe this.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
But like, I was supposed to go with another friend
of mine.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
He knocked his front tooth out and he decided to
cancel the trip. But I was just like, fucking I'm
gonna go anyway. So I'm like, if this is not
a sign from the universe that I need to just
hop back on this adventure, and.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
I don't know, something keeps pulling me back here, So like,
what are the odds of that?

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Because at this point I would have already been probably
at the airport by the time they texted me. But
I'm sitting around as my flight he's getting delayed, and
I just randomly get a text from like a friend
Mick home, and I even a friend that I'm like,
you know, somebody that I work with in the nightlife industry, so.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Somebody I'm cool with him.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
We hung out a bunch, like with other mutual friends,
but not somebody who's like, you know, your bestie that
you talk to.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
All the time. So it's so random.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
And I literally had posted like one story on Instagram
like that I was here like over the weekend, and
that was it didn't tell anybody I was I was
going away for the most part, and they randomly are like, Okay,
I happen to.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Now be by myself. Are you still out here?

Speaker 3 (05:03):
So yeah, I'm embracing the adventure. And I don't know,
I don't know what what that means. And I don't
want to make this too long because the episode is
a full episode already. But as I'm like thinking about that,
I was having a conversation with one of my friends
from down here. We grabbed food, and I was just
like expressing a lot of what I've expressed with you

(05:26):
guys here on the podcast and sort of like feeling
lost at times and not knowing what's next and feeling like,
you know, I just so much friction right now, and
you know, they kind of just expressed their point of
view of how they've been sort of just trying to
learn to let go a little bit and take it

(05:47):
day by day and just like you know, be passionate
about the day and embrace things as they come, and
try not to get too caught up with planning and
the goals and you know, check the boxes and all
these things. And again that's nothing groundbreaking, right, but it
you know, I think with certain things it kind of

(06:09):
like just hit at the right time, right. And I
don't think they use the word adventure, but they sort
of just talked about how they're trying to just sort
of embrace the journey of life a bit, and that
is like the adventure of all this stuff.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
And I think.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
That's what if I really break down what's been like
speaking to me as I've been here, as I've been
making connections and getting lost here. When I'm here, I
allow myself to be on the adventure. And I'm still
you know, like I still work remotely and do certain
things that I have to take care of. I can't

(06:46):
just completely abandon life, But for the most part, I'm
not checking my phone constantly. I'm not really posting on
social media time, and I'm literally just like going out
of my way to be personable to meet people, and
I'm letting them recommend and take me on to different
spots and two things, right, I'm literally just like living

(07:08):
in the flow of life and embracing just like how
beautifully spontaneous life can be if you allow it to
be so. Right, And I was reflecting on this even
as I was back home the last couple of weeks,
and I was like, I started feeling a bit of that,
like that being in a rut and being a little

(07:30):
bit heavy, and it was like, man, you know, I'm
I'm living in a bit of a routine. I'm a
bit isolated with what I do. I'm so hyper focused
on like what's next and success and all these things.
So of course I'm not enjoying everything day to day.
Of course, I'm putting so much pressure on every single
thing that I do because it has to be the

(07:51):
next thing. And I think, you know, as I was
kind of even reflecting last night, it's like, yeah, there's
there's a lot to be figured out, you know, as
far as I think my life goes.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
But also.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Kid you've worked your ass off for you know, the
last ten plus years so that you could give yourself
a life that allows for a bit more flexibility, a
bit more of the journey, a bit more of the
fucking adventure. And that's what I'm I guess I'm trying
to do here and what I'm trying to convey, and

(08:30):
I guess some of the breakthrough that is happening. But like,
you know, this is what makes me happy. It's not
about being on a tropical island, of course that.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Helps, but it's the idea that like, life.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Has so much to offer you as long as you're
open to it, right, And it's not always going to
be good stuff. It's not always going to be you know,
just flowers and rainbows every day. If you allow it,
life really can open itself up to so many different

(09:05):
things that you would have never expected, you know. And
I feel like I find it much easier to get
into that mindset when I'm here, and as.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
A result, it's like, oh, this is like the way.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
I want to live my life, you know, where every
day feels exciting, where you know, every day I'm open
to new experiences and adventures that can possibly happen, and
again it's balanced. We all have responsibilities as we get
older and all these different things. But I do think
a key to happiness is a bit of that sort

(09:42):
of unknown and that bit of invitation to the unplanned.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
And I think a lot.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
Of us maybe feel stuck or heavy at times because
we don't have enough of that unplanned and that flexibility,
that sense of adventure that I think is just innately
human and a need that all of us have and want.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
For sure, I just.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
Rambled for a bit, but I'm just kind of getting
those thoughts out, and maybe I'm justifying it to myself,
like it's okay that you decided, you know what, I'll
just take an early flight tomorrow instead, and I'm gonna
hop on the spontaneity of a friend of mine being
down here randomly and give myself another day. But yeah,
this is where I'm feeling the most alive, and I

(10:29):
just want to kind of capture that. And I think
in this episode of the street Stock podcast, I touch
on a lot of that conversation to a greater degree.
So I want to share that with all of you
and just put it out there. I know i'd gotten
some people hitting me up about new season of The
Street Stock So I wanted to share this, and yeah,

(10:51):
I'm proud of this episode. I think it's very fitting
for what I'm where I literally am right now, but
I think the mindset I'm trying to make my norm.
So yeah, without further ado, here is the Street Stoic Podcast. Yes, yes,

(11:21):

excited about it. It's going to be a weekly podcast.

anybody who was a fan, but we're gonna be doing
it every week. I'll drop a new episode every single Monday,
and yeah, man, we're out here. This is one of

our entire community can showcase their work and all that
they do. So if you have an idea project, feel
free to leave a.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Comment reach out.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
We'd love to check it out and see if it's
a good fit for the community. Now with that said,
let's uh, let's get things started, man, with your your
weekly shot of inspiration. All right, So today we're focusing
all around the stoic idea of focusing.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
On what you can control. Man.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
This is this is like straight up something that I've
been working on and this whole episode. Really, I think
it's like just coming to you on the other side
of lived experience for myself personally. So definitely, you know,
these aren't empty words. This isn't some bullshit inspiration spewed
at you. This is really sort of where I'm at

(13:40):
and what has been working for me. And again it's
mindset being everything right. And the record that I pulled
from today lyrically that I think kind of represents this
whole idea of your mindset and and you know, realizing
the control that you have over it is a record
by the artist Russ. It's called Adventure, and this whole

(14:02):
album from him. It's an album he based off of
the book The Alchemist, and yeah, it's a it's a
very just super introspective album, very rare, very honest, and
I think a lot of it resonated for me, particularly
the song Adventure and and in it he says, I'm

(14:22):
not lost, I'm on an adventure. I'm just on a
quest for my treasure. Think about how far you've come.
Just remember you're not lost, You're on an adventure. And
I just found that.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
To be so.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
Powerful of like a perspective, you know, switch right, It's
just like You can either be panicking basically right that
you're like lost at sea essentially, right, that's like the
analogy here. Or you could be excited by the fact
that you're on an adventure, right, And both things are true,

(15:00):
depending on what you want to make your own reality.
But again, it all starts in your head. And then
he in the song and one of the verses this
sort of like really resonated with.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
Me, and we'll kind of get into that a little bit,
you know, in a few minutes.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
But he says, thinking that I got a broken version
of success until I realize that this is the version
I'm supposed to get. I see the way the roads
connect if you just keep on driving. And again, it's
all about perspective. You can either be down on yourself,

(15:34):
down on life, hating everything, regretting things and feeling like,
you know, God never wants you to be happy, or
the universe never wants you to be happy, or insert
whatever you know you believe in or think about, or
you can approach it from the perspective that he's talking about, saying, no,
I didn't get a broken version of things. I'm not

(15:55):
like somebody who's prone to bad luck. This is where
I'm supposed to be because there's a lesson here, right,
There's something I'm supposed to be getting out of this moment.
I'm supposed to be taking something away. And like he said,
if you just keep on driving, you'll see, oh, this
is where the road connects.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Right.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
That that like you're getting nervous and you're panicking or
you're like trying to abandon ship.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
Because you don't see where the rest of the road is. Right.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
You ever drive in like in the fog and you
can only see like you know, ten ft in front
of you or something like that, but you trust the
fact that, like the highway doesn't just end after that
point that you can see, right, And yeah, maybe you're
driving cautiously, maybe you're not, like you know, you have
to turn the music down so you can see better

(16:45):
type of thing, right, But like you have this trust
that the road is not just gonna end. And I
think that's sort of what we're missing in life, right.
It's the idea that like, just because you can't see
where you're going or what this moment is meant to
teach you, or why you're experiencing what you're experiencing, doesn't

(17:07):
mean that this is the end, doesn't mean that the
lesson or happier days aren't on.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
The other side of that. Right.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
You just have to keep going. You have to keep
on driving so that you can get to the clearance
in the road.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
Right.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
And I wrote down something that has been very like,
I don't know, just a good mindset, very sort of
healthy for me to remind myself, but like it's you
verse you out there.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
And I really do believe that.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
And I get that there's a lot of external circumstances
attached to our goals or inevitable moments in life, right, life,
death and dealing with other people, them disappointing you, all
these different things, right, But all of those things are moments.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
In your life. And yes, some are heavy, some are.

Speaker 3 (17:59):
Important, and some are you know, more influential than others.
But you get to determine the effect that they are
going to have on you. And I don't say this
with ease. I know that this is, you know, difficult
when you're really going through it, But it doesn't change

(18:21):
the fact that you are in the driver's seat as
far as how you're going to view this particular situation. Right,
And honestly, oftentimes the relief that you're looking for is
found simply through having a little paradigm shift right or

(18:42):
looking at your situation from the other side of the street.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
Right.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
Like a lot of times, the things we are panicking about,
or are stressed about, or depressed or whatever it might be,
they are far less detrimental to our existence then we realize, and.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
If we just walked across the street.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
And looked at them from that side of the street,
we would see them completely differently. Because the truth is, yes,
the outside world is for the most part beyond our control.

Speaker 2 (19:26):
Right.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
I can't control what my boss is going to do.
I can't control what my partner is going to do.
I can't control that the president is going to basically
just fold like a cheap table during the first presidential
debate and make you question everything that.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
You believe it. I can't control that, right.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
But what I can control is my mind and the
way that I decide to see things. All of that
is completely within my control, within your control.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
Right.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
And this leads perfectly to a quote from one of
the stoics, Marcus Aurelius, where he says, the happiness of
your life depends on the quality of your thoughts. The
happiness of your life depends on the equality of your thoughts.
And for me, something I had written in my notes
recently was happiness isn't a destination, It's a way of being. Right,

(20:24):
Happiness isn't on the other side of that raise, of
that goal, of that relationship. It's simply just a way
of being. It all starts with your mindset. Right, You
in this moment right now, as crazy as it might
sound depending on what you're going through, but the truth is, you,

(20:45):
in this moment, right now, have the ability to find happiness,
have the ability to find relief, have the ability to
see the positive in a situation. And again, I know
it's difficult. I mean, if you lose somebody you love,
it's really hard to find the positive within that.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
Right.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
And I was actually I was driving, I was thinking
about this, and I was like, how does that apply
when you lose somebody you love? Right, I've been pursuing
over these same concepts. And I would never want to
like take away the pain from losing somebody you love,
Like I never want to cheapen that, I should say,
or make you feel like you shouldn't be feeling that,
or it's unhealthy to feel that, because I think it is.

(21:32):
But there's also I think something about how certain cultures.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
They view like the funeral or.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
The wake, I should say, or after the black when
people get together like at a house, they viewed as
a way of celebrating the life of that person.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Right.

Speaker 3 (21:49):
And I guess the one silver lining in a terrible
situation there is you get to be surrounded by people
you love and care about that loved and care about
that person that you lost, and you all get together
and just celebrate them. You tell happy stories, right, you
tell funny memories, right, You really look at their life
as a whole and celebrate them and the impact that

(22:11):
they've had on you.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Right.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
And that's sort of being able to look at a
terrible situation from a more positive perspective.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
Right.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
And again, in a situation like that, there's but so
much positive you can bring out of it. But in
our normal, everyday lives, the row is an opportunity there
if we just allow ourselves to slow.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Down and think about it.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
Right, I'm gonna hop in here, We'll take a quick break,
and then we'll be right back.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
We are back.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
And I relate to this on such a deep, deep level,
like this is the whole first half of my year
of my twenty twenty four to be honest with you, right,
I don't know if you call it a midlife crisis,
a dark night of the soul, whatever it might be.
But for me, I came into twenty twenty four riding
how off of like a really active end of twenty
twenty three and twenty twenty four for me.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
In my mind, but also I think in certain deals
that I.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
Have in place, twenty twenty four was a proving place
like it was supposed to be a year of proof of.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
Concept for me.

Speaker 3 (23:18):
Right, I've been doing a ton of stuff over the
last few years, and twenty twenty four for me, coming
into it was the time where either it's all going
to finally really come together or it's all going to
fall apart. In my head, that's how I built it up, right,
And I was like constantly thinking to myself, what's next,
what's next? I'm constantly getting asked by people, what's next,

(23:40):
What's next? I hate that question? And what started happening
was I was like hitting my head against the wall.
I'm hitting a ceiling. It felt like everything I tried
was like falling apart or I was being met with
obstacles every which way I turned.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
Right, That's what it felt like for the first half
of this year. And then I read this book.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
I've been reading this book that I think Seven Habits
of Highly Effective People, right, legendary book, and it talks
about the idea of paradigm shifts, right, and it's essentially
saying to yourself, what am I not seeing? How can
I see this from a different perspective?

Speaker 2 (24:22):
Right?

Speaker 3 (24:23):
And with that, I have tried to make it a
habit of asking myself what am I not seeing? And
what's been happening for me recently is in those moments
where I get stressed out, where I'm overthinking whatever it
might be, I asked myself that question, and all of
a sudden, I'm like, Oh, here's an opportunity, here's an idea,

(24:47):
here's a solution that I didn't realize before, Here's a
positive that I couldn't see before. And then I'm like relieved,
and I'm back to sort of being just being in
the moment.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
And all of that.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
Was in my mind, right, I was in control of that,
and what I recognized like this year, just to be
more specific, like I think I started this year and
like I just wasn't as busy, especially, I wasn't as
busy as the way I ended twenty twenty three, and
I sort of expected that momentum to keep on rolling, right,

(25:24):
Like end of twenty twenty three, I was getting a
lot of last minute bookings for like speaking and doing
all these different things, right, and I.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
Sort of.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
Was like, Oh, we're gonna keep riding this wave, right,
And what I realized was, I'm so used to being
like stretched thin, right, Like that's my normal way of
life of not having enough time for myself. That's my norm, right,
And that's sort of how I judge if I am
successful or not is by basically how little free time

(25:55):
I have to myself. And for whatever reason, this year
started off a bit slow, right, and I began to
get concerned. I began to get worried. I had some
projects fall through, and all of the sort of panic
and insecurity and stress. Oh my god, everything I planned

(26:16):
is not happening. My life is over, blah blah blah.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
What am I going to do?

Speaker 3 (26:22):
That was the thing that was living as my main
thought process for the better part of twenty twenty four.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
Thus far.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Then I began to reframe it. What am I not seeing?
And then I began to realize, wait, hold on a second,
while you're not exactly where you want to be, and
you're capable of much more, and you will achieve much more.
You've achieved a level of success doing something you love.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
Right. I get to wake up every day and do
things that I enjoy on my own schedule. That is success.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
But I haven't been allowing myself to enjoy that, to
reap the benefits, because I'm always so concerned about what
is next. So what the paradigm shift was the viewer
from across the street. The different perspective was that maybe
now is a time for you to take your foot
off the gas a little bit and just enjoy all

(27:23):
that you have built. Enjoy the life that you have
created for yourself, that you have worked so hard since
you were seventeen.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Years old to create.

Speaker 3 (27:33):
Is it so wrong to not have a day that
is packed from the moment you wake up to the
time you go to bed? Is it wrong to be
able to go play hooky and go to the beach
in the middle of the day during the summer, or
go ride bikes or go thrifting or take a nap.
I've earned that, And rather than beating myself up about

(27:55):
the fact that I'm not doing enough, I'm now celebrating
the idea that I get to enjoy the lifestyle that
I've built with the knowledge that inevitably I will be
incredibly busy again. But now is a moment to rest.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Right.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
The quiet is actually a good thing. It actually allows me. Then,
now that I have some more time and space to myself,
I can actually begin to take account for my life
and see what's working, see what's not right. I can
get clearer on what I actually want at this point
in my life. Right, Because when you're moving one hundred

(28:35):
miles an hour, you're just caught in the routine of
being busy. And sometimes you're busy doing things that no
longer serve you, but it's just your norm. So now
life has blessed me with the opportunity, right, And this
is the paradigm shift.

Speaker 2 (28:50):
This is a perspective switch.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Life has blessed me with the opportunity to have a
moment of calm where I can then create space to
figure out what I want now, what's actually working for me?
What does this version of dramas want and I can
create space and mental clarity to receive the next creative
download from God or the universe. Right, And that's sort

(29:14):
of what happened. And there's still, you know, sort of
loose ends I'm tying up. But when I began to
look at it from that perspective, all of a sudden,
the creativity and motivation that was sort of not.

Speaker 2 (29:25):
There for the first half of this year it started
flooding back.

Speaker 3 (29:29):
I got the idea for a book, a new book, right,
So it's been a dream by to me an author,
and I sort of re awoke that part of myself.
I mean, I know I've done other smaller books, but
like you know, I still have this bigger dream of
a of a big long form book. And I began
writing again and getting excited every morning writing. I've been
doing some new designs for for the Just Be Merched,

(29:51):
and it's been like invigorating for me.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
But I couldn't really get on that a.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
Couple of months ago because I was feeling my head
with stress of everything external that was going wrong, rather
than the other side of the street saying, yeah, maybe
those things aren't happening right now that you were planning on,
but now you have this clean slate of a more
relaxed schedule to do other things that you've been wanting

(30:20):
to do. But again, I had to have that perspective switch,
flip it around, see it from the other side of
the street, and recognize that this is actually an opportunity.
The part of me that thought that I was lacking
opportunities was actually wrong. And now that I looked at

(30:42):
it from across the street, I can see that, oh,
this moment that I thought was bad or scary or
stressful is actually a beautiful opportunity for me. And again
that's my mind. I'm in control of that. I'm in
control of trying to see the opportunity in every situation,
and it's been a blessing. I feel energized and excited

(31:05):
once again. Whereas before, when all I was doing was
stressing about everything that wasn't happening from projects with other people,
I was burnt out, uninspired and unmotivated. But again I
took control of what was happening in my mind and
I made that switch. So now you have heard some

(31:26):
lyrics from Russ. We have heard from one of the Stokes,
Marcus Aurelius, I've given you some insight into how this
is something that I completely relate to and how I
apply it to my own life. This idea of focusing
on what you can control, specifically your mindset. Now, let's
talk about how you can make it your mantra for today.
We're going to pause here one more time. We'll do
a quick break, and then we'll be right back. And

(31:53):
I think, as I touched on today, you know, it
starts with never accepting the difficult moments as just bad, right,
never accepting any moment as just being one thing, because
your mind has the ability to make it.

Speaker 2 (32:09):
Into whatever it is that you see fit.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
Sometimes that's a little bit of dangerous thing. In this perspective,
it's a good thing, right. Don't allow yourself to.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Sort of just.

Speaker 3 (32:20):
Recoil into defeat or retreat and just say, oh, there's
nothing I can do about this. It is what it is.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
No, it's what you make it.

Speaker 3 (32:31):
Your mind has the opportunity, or I should say, your
mind has the ability to find the opportunity or find
the silver lining in absolutely everything if you allow it to,
if you decide to look for it, right, if you
decide to stop in the moment and say, I know

(32:51):
this looks shitty, but what am I not seeing? Where
is the opportunity here? Let me look for it. Let
me stop looking and dwelling on what's negative, it's bad,
and now let me try to find what's good for
what I can make good. Like you ever had like
an event, you know, something like you were looking forward to, right,
maybe it was like a date, or you and your

(33:11):
friends were going to go to some cool place, and
you're really excited about it, whatever it might be, right,
and then all of a sudden it gets canceled last minute,
and you're kind of bump out about.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
It because you're looking forward to it all week, right.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
But then it kind of hits you and you're like, wait,
now I have a free night to myself. I don't
have to get dressed up if I don't want to.
I don't have to go spend a bunch of money
if I don't want to. And I have had a
free night and god knows how long where you know,
my weekend wasn't accounted for. Now I get to just
do whatever the fuck I want, right, So you've you

(33:41):
just went from being bummed that this event got canceled
to now being relieved or excited.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
Right, and that was all worked out within your head.

Speaker 3 (33:51):
You chose to not dwell on the negative and instead
sought out the opportunity that was gained from that event
being canceled.

Speaker 2 (33:59):
Right.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
You accept the fact that, yeah, I was looking forward
to this, and it sucks that it's no longer happening.
But now I have an opportunity to have a night
to myself or a knight, to really just do whatever
the hell I feel like doing. I don't have to
be anywhere at a specific time. Now, I don't have
to get dressed up if I don't want to whatever
it might be. I now get to go and sit

(34:23):
on the couch and watch Netflix all day. I've done
that forever. I get to order take out, have a
glass of wine, and show And that's sort of the
way we need to be looking at our everyday lives, right,
Because I'm sure anybody can relate to that story in
some sort of way. But that proves you the power
of your mind, of you being in control of you
focusing on the aspects of that that you're in control of.

(34:46):
I can't control the event got canceled for whatever reason.
What I can control is what I do next, how
I view it, right, And that's something we can apply
to almost every single aspect of our lives. Sort of
recapping all we talked about today, Russ flipping the idea

(35:07):
from being lost to now instead he's excited because he's
on an adventure. Right, An adventure is exciting. Being lost
a scary adventure exciting. So instead of saying, oh my god,
I'm lost, No, now I'm on an adventure and I'm
excited about what's going to happen next. Right, that's a
beautiful sort of mindset shift to have. Again, you versus

(35:27):
you at the end of the day, Marcus Areally is
talking about the happiness of your life depends on the
quality of your thoughts. Again, happiness is not a destination
to way of being, and that way of being all
starts with your mindset.

Speaker 2 (35:39):
Right.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
And even for me, I thought, because my life wasn't
busy and chaotic as it normally is, that there was
something wrong with me, my life, my value, all of
the above, right, and that there was no value in
this moment because I wasn't overbooked, basically, And then again

(36:03):
when I flipped that and recognize the value and having
more time for myself and the time being the ability
to get clear right, me being able to see, Oh,
now that I have more time, this would be a
great moment to slow down and figure out if all
the goals I'm trying to chase still line up with
where I want to be in my life right, because

(36:24):
I'm constantly changing and evolving, And what I recognized was, Oh,
this actually doesn't serve you anymore. So I'm actually happy
that slowed down because the next evolution of me needed
more time to focus on this.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
Right.

Speaker 3 (36:35):
The cancelation of certain products I was looking forward to
gave me the opportunity to start other products that I've
been wanting to do, like writing right, have more time
to focus on just be and building out this social club,
this community, right and everything comes along with it. There
was an opportunity in the quiet that I was experiencing

(36:56):
that I initially perceived as like stress.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
And something bad.

Speaker 3 (37:00):
But I have to stop and ask myself, where is
the opportunity here? What am I not seeing? And again
recognizing that every difficult moment has an opportunity to be seen.
You have to find it. You're in control of that.

(37:21):
You can't control external things, external people. But the way
that you see things happening around you, which then leads
to the way that you feel, is completely in your
control as long as you take charge in your mind
and choose to see things.

Speaker 2 (37:39):
From the other side of the street. And I hope
that was helpful.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
I gotta say, damn, it feels really good to be
back with this podcast. It's just like a different vibe,
different speed than my other podcast, Life is Going to Go,
And I'm so happy of bringing it to you here
on on Patreon and like the just the just b community,
it's just like it feels good, like I'm sharing it
amongst families, so it's amazing.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
So thank y'all so much. With that said, thank you
so much for checking out the street Stock podcast. Do
your best to apply these concepts that we discussed into
your everyday life.

Speaker 3 (38:07):
And I will catch you next week on Monday for
a brand new episode. But that said, season three, we back, baby,
and welcome to the Just the Social Club community.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
It's so good to have you here.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
And again, any suggestions, any comments, any things you want
to bring to the community, Please feel free to reach
out to myself or leave a comment.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
We would love to hear from you, hear.

Speaker 3 (38:29):
All the ideas.

Speaker 1 (38:30):
I'll catch you next week. All right.

Speaker 3 (38:36):
So that was the street Stock podcast, exclusively available on
the Just the Social Club Patreon.

Speaker 1 (38:42):
It's free.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
I've been neglecting it but hoping to get on that
now the fall has hit. But I just want to
share that. And I think one of my goals as
we close out this year and going into next year.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
Is to.

Speaker 3 (39:04):
Find more of a balance between the healthy routine but
also giving myself those moments to be adventurous in life
and whatever that means. And yeah, I think that's some
of the lesson that I'm getting. And again, it looks
different for all of us. I don't have, you know,
a family to provide for I have, you know, adult

(39:25):
bills and things like that, like anybody else.

Speaker 1 (39:27):
But we all have different situations, you know.

Speaker 3 (39:30):
But I think for me, even as a creative, as
an artist, you know, I think I'm like starving myself
of just being.

Speaker 1 (39:39):
Ironically, I talk about just being all the time.

Speaker 3 (39:42):
And yeah, so this counted as conclusions to I just
I'm kind of amped up on this right now, so
we didn't do the whole conclusions due intro. But yeah,
that's kind of where I'm at. With that said, I'm
gonna go enjoy a spontaneous extra day in Puerto Rico

(40:06):
and meet up with a friend of mine and just
see where the adventure takes us today. And yeah, not
get too caught up on what the next ten years
of my life are supposed to look like, and just
try to take it day by day a little bit
and stay in this mindset and I think try to
bring it home with me as much as I possibly can.

(40:28):
So with that said, thank you' all for tuning in.
Hope you enjoyed that episode of The Street Stoic a
little preview of what I'm trying to get back into
in the fall. For our Just Be Social Club Patreon,
which again is free, you can go just dm me
on Instagram at dj Dramos if you want to join that.
And that's it, man, I will catch you on Thursday
for our Thursday Trends episode. Till then it, stay safe

(40:48):
and we'll talk soon. Life as a Good INNGO is
a production of the micro Thura podcast Network and iHeartRadio.
