Speaker 1 (00:00):
What Up. My name is Dramas and I have a
new podcast called Life as a Green. Some of you
may know me as the dude that sits next to
DJ Envy on The Breakfast Club, or as a DJ
and on air personality on New York Because one hundred,
or as the host of the TV show The Recap
on l A TV. But above all that, I'm someone
who has always struggled to find where he fits in

(00:22):
culturally throughout my life. When I leaned into my Puerto
Rican heritage, I'd be quickly labeled as a gringo by
my family on trips back to the island, being told
I'm too white or to Americanized, while at the same
time consistently being reminded by my friends in the States
that I'm not one of them because my house smells
a little different or my parents listen to weird music.

(00:43):
Author Ed Morales describes it as one feels at home
in both places, yet at home in neither place. And
as I've grown older, I've realized that this experience is
not one that is just unique to me, but there
are so many others out there like myself who have
spent their lives living in this gray area. And what
might be even crazier is that for as many of

(01:05):
us as there are out there, the representation for this
gray area is virtually non existed in media. It's time
for our voices and our unique lens to be heard.
So I bring you my new podcast, Life as a Gringo,
a place for anyone who's been told they're too much
this but not enough that. We talked about everything from
breaking generational curses. We have to address the fact that

(01:28):
we have a lot of trauma that has been passed
down to us from generations to generation, because we come
from poverty and because we come from scarcity to mental health.
I mean, I'm somebody who has, you know, struggle with
and and gone through bouts of depression and anxiety for
man as long as I can remember to dating in
today's world. You know, I don't care what anybody has

(01:48):
to say, whatever your judgment is, but I know for me,
it was completely necessary for me to go through a
whole phase before I decided to settle down to whatever
is currently happening in the culture and everything between, all
through the lens of someone who's living life trying to
figure out where they fit into this world. Listen to
Life as a Gooding Go every Tuesday and Thursday starting
July as a part of the Michael Do It, a
