today's super Live Ay Lewis story. I can't believe it's
raining again, said Levi as he flocked down on his

(00:42):
bed after staring out the window at the puddles forming
in the street. I know, I feel like it'll never stop,
said Ivy as she laid on the ground working on
a puzzle. I think I've done every puzzle in the
house one hundred times by now. I'm so bored. After
four days of summer rain, Levi and Ivy were ready
for a break in the weather, but there was nothing

(01:03):
they could do about it. They asked their parents every
five minutes if they heard any good news on the
local weather report. But all they were told was the
weather report says there's a chance the rain will stop tomorrow.
We just have to wait and see. Levi and Ivy
were getting impatient and didn't think they could wait even
one more minute, let alone another day. A rainy day

(01:24):
in the summer isn't fun at all. We can all
agree on that, but a rainy Friday in the summer
is even worse. We should be outside riding bike, swimming,
or playing in the warm, dry sunshine, said Levi. But
instead we have to hang out in the house with
mom and dad. Oh, Ivy said in a huff. Yep,

(01:46):
oh Yon, Levi, Hey, hey, said two voices from the
hallway in front of Levi's room. You two don't want
to hang out with your super cool mom and dad,
said Levi and Ivy's dad as he entered Levi's room.
I think we're pretty fun to hang out with, outed
Levi and Ivy's mom, as she entered into Levi's room,
doing a funny little dance. Levi and Ivy couldn't help

(02:09):
but laugh and quickly corrected their comments. What we met
mom and dad is staying in the house with anyone
for four days straight would get a little Levi started boring,
said Ivy, finishing his sentence. We've literally played with every toy, beat,
every video game made, every puzzle, used up all our
paints and clay, and even organized our rooms. She's right,

(02:34):
what else are we supposed to do? Said Levi, looking
at his parents. They knew how their kids felt, and
also knew there were plenty of other fun things for
them to do in the house. However, Levi and Ivy
were just so eager to get back outside that nothing
they could do in the house seemed fun at all.
Then suddenly, Levi and Ivy's parents remembered something that their

(02:54):
kids loved that they didn't often get the chance to do.
Unlucky for them, it was an inside the house activity
and perfect for a rainy day. I think I may
have an idea that can get you through until tomorrow
when the weather is supposed to break, said Levi and
Ivy's mom as she motioned to the hallway in front
of Levi's bedroom door. Levi and Ivy's dad knew what

(03:16):
she was referring to and smiled at his kids. Levi
thought for a moment, trying to figure out what could
be in the hallway that was fun for him and
Ivy to do. Ivy did the same. Then suddenly smiles
spread across each of their faces and they jumped up
on their feet. We can go up in the attic,
said Levi and Ivy together. Yes, Levi and Ivy had

(03:37):
the most wonderful attic in their house. It was huge
and filled with treasures from their past. It was also
filled with fun stuff from when their parents were kids,
and even things from their grandparents. You see, when Levi
and Ivy's grandma and grandpa moved into a condo a
few years ago, they cleaned out their house. They decided
to store all of their favorite things that they didn't
have room for at their new place at Levi and

(03:57):
Ivy's house, and all of those things lived in the attic.
Levi and Ivy loved looking through their boxes and discovering
all the treasures they held. Sometimes it would be jewelry, clothes,
old toys, or family pictures that would catch their eye,
but most of the time they looked for their grandparents'
old books. They both loved collecting books their whole lives
and had some really unique books that Levi and Ivy

(04:20):
just loved. Thanks, Mom and dad, said Levi. Let's get
into the attic, added Ivy. As she and Levi ran
into the hall, Levi and Ivy's dad grabbed the pole
chain that dangled above his head from the ceiling, pulling
the folding stairs down that led to the attic. Levi
and Ivy promised their parents that they wouldn't make a
mess and hurried up the stairs in the attic as

(04:40):
quickly as they could. Have fun, and please don't break anything,
called out Levi and Ivy's mom. As they disappeared into
the attic. Levi ran over to the wall flipped on
the light switch, which cast a dull yellow glow over
the entire attic. He and his sister looked around with
wide eyes, having not been up there for such a
long time. The corner of the giant room was filled

(05:01):
with boxes, baskets, and bags, overflowing with things from the past,
but Levi and Ivy were looking for one thing in particular.
Where did we leave that box of books last time
we were up here, asked Levi. I think it was
by the window over here, answered Ivy as she walked
toward the far end of the attic. Here it is.

(05:22):
Levi ran over to a sister and sat down on
the floor next to her beside an old wooden box
that was filled with children's books that their grandparents had
collected from when they were little. It used to live
at their grandparents' house in a hallway closet filled with
games and craft supplies. Levi and Ivy used to love
looking through it when they visited, and now it was
always the first thing they ran over to to explore
when they got a chance to go in the attic.

(05:44):
I want us to read this book today, said Levi,
holding up a book with a giant dinosaur on the front.
You always want to read that dinosaur book, said Ivy
as she grabbed another book. I want us to read
this one today. Ugh, you always want to read that
Uni corn book, said Levi. What are we going to do?

(06:04):
Levi and Ivy always liked to read a book together
in the attic, but today they couldn't seem to decide
on which one to read, so they called the one
person who could settle the problem for them. Mom called
out Levi and Ivy together. When their mom got up
into the attic, they explained their situation. After giving it
a quick thought, she told them they either needed to

(06:26):
share their reading time and read both books, or they
had to pick a new book they both liked and
read that book together. She said it was called compromising.
Ivy had heard her teacher use that word before in
class when the kids wanted to do something different but
had to figure out a way to work or play together.
And since neither one of them wanted to listen to
the other one's book again, Levi and Ivy told their

(06:48):
mom they'd pick a new book together. I want to
read a book about a cat, said Ivy. Well, I
want to read a book about a dog, said Levi.
Levi and Ivy's mom heard her kids conversation, but decided
to give them the space to come up with a
solution on their own. She left the attic quietly, just
hoping she wouldn't be called back by two upset kids

(07:09):
trying to figure out what book to read. Oh man,
we'll never find a book that we both like at
this rate, Ivy muttered to herself. Then suddenly, she and
Levi reached for the same book and pulled it out
of the old wooden box. Together, they held it up,
each holding on to the cover, and realized it was
a book they had never seen before. It was called

(07:31):
Paws and Whiskers The Land where Time Stands Still. It's
about dogs. We're reading this one, said Levi with a smile.
But look, it's also about cats, said Ivy, pointing to
a kitten curled up next to a puppy on the
cover of the book. Perfect, they both said, together, we
both get what we want. Levi and Ivy smiled as

(07:52):
they settled into two old bean backed chairs under the window.
The chairs used to be their parents when they were little.
They were still super comfy and just the right side
for Levi and Ivy to curl up in and enjoy
their new book. The rain started to come down harder
outside the window, and a rumble of thunder could be
heard even in the distance. I'll read first, said Levi,

(08:13):
grabbing the book from Ivy's hands. No, I'll read first,
said Ivy, grabbing the book back from her brother. Their mom,
who was still in the hallway next to the ladder,
decided to give Levi and Ivy just a little help
because they were so close to enjoying a nice story together.
Levi and Ivy, you have to share your reading time,
she said. That's the only way you'll both get a
chance to enjoy the book. Wouldn't you rather hear a

(08:35):
nice story than argue? She made a lot of sense,
and instead of being right or getting their own way,
Leevi and Ivy finally decided listening to the book together
would be way more fun than arguing. They played a
quick game of rock paper scisitors to see who would
go first. They agreed to go back and forth reading,
and off they went into the Land of Paws and Whiskers.

(08:56):
Ivy won the game, and she would read first. She
opened the book to the first page. The pages were
unlike anything they had ever seen before. They were edged
in gold and looked so elegant and special. As the
rain fell harder outside, Ivy began to read. Paws and
Whiskers was the name of the magical village where kittens
and puppies roam free. No adult dogs or cats to

(09:17):
be found anywhere. That was because Paws and Whiskers was
an enchanted magical village where playful puppies and curious kittens ruled.
In this magical land, no one ever grew up, not
the furry friends who called it home or the kids
who visited. Wow, it would be so cool to visit
paws and whiskers, said Levi as Ivy finished reading the

(09:38):
introduction page. Can you imagine a land where puppies and
kittens ran all over all the time? I know it
would be so cute, said Ivy as she kept reading.
As Ivy turned the page to start the first chapter,
something strange began to happen. The attic suddenly felt very cold,
and the pages of the book began to move if

(10:00):
a strong breeze was wrestling them. Levi and Ivy looked
to see if the window above their heads was open,
but it wasn't. They looked around trying to find the
source of the breeze, and before they knew what was happening,
the breeze got stronger and stronger. They didn't know what
to do, but they grabbed each other's hands as Ivy
held the book close. They didn't have time to call

(10:20):
their mom or dad before they got caught up in
the strong wind and swirled around and around in the attic.
Levi and Ivy just closed their eyes and held on tight,
and just when they thought things couldn't get any weirder,
the strong wind stopped and they opened their eyes. What
they saw next was a land beyond their wildest dreams.
Hey friends, that is the end of part one. Come
