(00:22):
money moved. Brandy Hudson is a transformational empowerment coach. Once
a top speed speed executive in the medical sales industry,
he has made the leak to starting her own business
so that she can help you unlock, discover, and align
with the most abundant version of yourself. Money Movers, please
welcome to the podcast my friend Brandy Hudson. Hi, Brandy,

(00:44):
oh Hey, thanks for having me today. Tanya excited to
be here. Brandy. I'm so excited to have you on
the podcast today because I think your story is something
really special and what you're doing is really designed to
help all of us make our money move. So I
want to dive right in, and I want to start
by asking you to tell us a little bit about yourself,

(01:05):
because I know you and I know you started, you know,
as one of the top sales executive in the medical
devices industry. But now you've made this pivot to starting
your own business. So tell me a little bit about
your career trajectory and what it really was that made
you say I'm going to leave this coushy job and
start your own platform for helping us make our money

(01:27):
move old things. Um, they actually go more hand in
hand than I think people realize. I was born and
raised in Detroit, UM came from, you know, a reasonably
middle class background. I went to the University of Michigan
where as a student athlete, and from there I did
I entered into kind of this healthcare UH sales world

(01:48):
where I worked my way up from a sales rep
to ultimately UH helping develop and lead really high performance teams.
And I covered the United States, Canada at times, and
it is a really big job. But what I found
was that the part that I loved most was really
in being of service to others. I really embodied that
adage of like lifting as we climb, and so I

(02:10):
was a founder of a number of employees resource groups
and really was thinking about how can I partner with
people to achieve the life of their dreams. And so
it was really this service oriented mindset. And there came
a point in my career where I'd had a ton
of success twenty years, always in the top fifteen percent, UM,

(02:31):
had a lot of athletic success, and I was thinking,
how had I UM really built this life? And I
realized that I was doing it UM a little bit
ad hoc. I didn't have like a real plan around it,
but it was very consistent. So talk a little bit
about the research and what really drew you to this practice,

(02:53):
because it wasn't an overnight thing where you said I'm
just quitting my job. You've actually trained for it. So
talk a little bit about what sort of called you
into this calling. I think what called me is that
I was doing this at work right like servicing UM
my colleagues, working with the employee resource groups. People were
coming to me asking me to mentor them. I was

(03:14):
doing a lot of philanthropy in the community, serving on board.
But when I took a step back, I realized that
people really didn't feel empowered to build and lead the
life of their dreams. Oftentimes people were acting as though
things were being acted upon them, and so I took
a step back, and I was thinking about this idea
of manifestation and the challenge with this manifestation culture from

(03:38):
my perspective, is that people really think about it as
manifesting a thing. I want a car, a house, I
would love to have this great relationship. I'd like to
have more money. And what we need to be thinking
is that we are manifesting the entirety of our lives.
Every aspect of my life is a manifestation, and we
need to be in this place where we are actively

(04:00):
co creating our entire life instead of looking out to
achieve a certain thing. And so I felt as though
I could really partner with people and teach them how
to co create their entire life and not think about
manifesting individual things. I love that, And I want to
talk a little bit about manifestation because once upon a time,

(04:23):
like I looked at how people talked about manifesting in
the Secret and it was kind of like it was
like using Amazon, Like, oh, if you just type it
in a box and like put it on your wall
on a vision board, it's all supposed to appear. Absolutely,
And I think that's why it's very polarizing for people
because for some people at works and they manifest all

(04:44):
these things and they're like, yes, this is great. And
for other people they're like, oh, I did the mantras
every day, and I signed up UM for you know,
the weekly UM you know UM sketching session, and I
did all the things like to draw out the life
that I want, and I still don't have it. And
so they're like, oh, it doesn't work. But it absolutely works.
It is a universal truth that we are constantly co

(05:07):
creating our lives, but we have to think about it
in this really step wise fashion in terms of, you know, first,
there are these situations that create our world views. And
this oftentimes even kind of from zero to seven years old,
and you might have had a really easy life, in
which case manifestation will probably come much more fluid and

(05:28):
easy and flow to you. UM or you like stress
in your youth, and that stress is something that needs
to be cleared before we can really start to align
with our lives. So I when I work with people,
there's this four step process. First is really thinking about
these stressful situations, which could be as as simple as
like being in a reasonable car accident. It could be

(05:52):
a parental divorce, or could be a very traumatic event
that has like layers and depths to it. But first
we have to remove the emotion from those events and
that allows you to better align. From there, we reframe
your limiting beliefs. So, for example, when it comes to money,
like many of us were raised with these thoughts around,

(06:12):
these kind of collective thoughts about what's possible for us.
So oftentimes, you know, black people don't may not see
themselves as a person who is capable of achieving a
high level of wealth. And so that's a limiting belief
that you have that is kind of ingrained in this
collective consciousness. Or you might wait, Brandy, I I have

(06:32):
to talk about this because this is something I think
we talk about a lot on the Money News podcast, right,
And what I love is that you actually are giving
us actionable steps and we'll get to them. But even
just these thoughts, right, and sometimes for many of us,
it's holding up the mirror to realize the thoughts that
we're repeating every day. Making money is hard. Um, black people,

(06:55):
you know, we can't get past these glass ceilings. And
it's like those things that we just keep telling ourselves,
oh my gosh, or we saw our parents saying, oh
you know what, I'll never make it further up the
corporate ladder than this, and we just have like doused
ourselves in these beliefs and so we actually can't break
through to the next level. So what I love about

(07:16):
the work you do, and even just in talking to
you before you even switch to this, you know, you
know you would call Brandy, She'd be like, well, why
do you think that challenging and examining those beliefs to
sort of help free us from these like blocks, um,
so that we can make the money move absolutely, I mean,
and they're so prevalent. Money doesn't grow on trees, but
it does. Think about it, like made from paper, papers

(07:39):
made from trees. You know, you have to work twice
as hard to have half as much. To your point,
why do you believe that? I mean, we sing rap songs,
more money, more problems that just really like train our
brain to have this world view. And whatever worldview you have,
you will draw that to you. And so what I
have really done partner first with myself but also with

(08:02):
other people to really kind of change how we think
and view the world. Because if we are constantly teaching
ourselves and limiting ourselves around what is and is not possible,
then the rest of the world actually doesn't have to
act upon us. Then we don't have to worry about
the glass ceiling and will someone promote someone who looks

(08:24):
like me and all of these other things, because we
actually are partnering and co creating these limits in our
own lives, and as we clear those away, we will
start to see doors open for us and you'll live
a life, um that is aligned with what you prefer
and the goals that you've set for yourselves. And what

(08:47):
I usually tell people, if there is someone who has
achieved what you want that looks like you, then it's possible. Right.
So the fact that we have black billionaires, the fact
that we have people who achieved levels of success, people
that have quote unquote broken the glass ceiling, then that
is available for you as well. And when you reframe
it and walk through life from that vantage point, you

(09:10):
are more likely to achieve your goals. All right, So Brandy,
this is something that you know. I feel like you've
taught me a lot about how powerful our words are.
And as you were sort of working through your process, um,
this isn't an important part of it. So sort of
unpacking and being aware of you know incidences or baggage
that we carry with us in life. How do you

(09:32):
use this in the process and then how do you
take that to the next step. I think that UM,
we don't want to oversimplify it in terms of like
your words are powerful. So you know if in passing
on one day, you you sing a song and it
has like negative lyrics or um, you say something you
know you're having a bad day and you say one
thing that is not going to like overtly change the

(09:54):
trajectory of your life. However, we do want to be
cognizant of if we're constantly repeat doing something UM in
our both inner mind and to our friends, and we're
creating these neural pathways. And it's those neural pathways that
actually draw experiences to us. And so when you start
to believe the things that I was mentioning before, like

(10:15):
money doesn't grow on trees, and you start to believe
that more money, more problems, the more you have, the
more people are going to hate on you. UM, that
there is this glass ceiling, Like those kind of things
that you're saying and meeting, the repetition is actually creating
those neural pathways, and it's those neural pathways that draw
things to you, and so we can kind of like

(10:38):
recreate and the brain is so malleable that you can consciously,
um take steps to rewire your neural pathways so that
you're now drawing a new, different life to you. See.
This is what I love because oftentimes people are like,
what is this woo woo stuck you're talking about? But

(10:59):
there's actually a science to this as well, right, And
you know, if you have a deeper understanding of you know,
the science and this, you can actually shift your life,
shift you know, the things that come to you. And
this is why I'm fascinated by the work that you do. UM,
So talk about the next step. You know, we've kind
of gone through um, you know, being able to unpack
these experiences, but what's the next part of your process

(11:21):
that you really draw your your community towards. Well, first,
I'd like to just pause and take a moment to
say that there is so much science around this. There
are neuroscience, um neuroscientists out there, there are books about
how how we really do create the life of our
dreams and and it is really sad to me that

(11:42):
we have so much power and many people live their
entire life, not harnessing their power, which is one of
the many I transitioned into this work because I think
it's a disservice for people not to realize that they
are the absolute creator of their experiences and that while

(12:03):
many things that happened to them that were outside of
their control douche shape shapes their world, do they have
this innate power to change that trajectory. And that's what
I want people to learn. It really is about kind
of this self awareness and harnessing back the power and
realizing that you don't have to live a life where

(12:25):
you feel that things are happening to you. And so
the next step after we kind of clear these stressful situations,
we reframe our limiting beliefs to more positive beliefs um
and then ultimately we want to align with the energetic
signature of what we're trying to pull to us. So
if it's physical health or financial abundance, it might be

(12:46):
this sense of having healthier relationships, whatever it is, it
has an energetic signature, and I would align that to
really this idea of when you walk into a room,
kind of the a you feel if you feel like
it's bustling and it's happy. Or when you meet a
friend and there an instant friend um, that energy, that connection,

(13:08):
you feel that same connection with these things. You have
to have that connection to fill abundance. You can't have
this low level vibration and think that you're going to
be calling in hundreds of thousands, millions, billions of dollars.
Those two things don't align. And so there is this
energetic signature that you have to align to. And there's

(13:30):
things that you can be doing every single day, such
as meditation and UM and other work that are really
allow you to better align to those things. Oh and
this is what gets me so excited because I've had
so many uber successful people on the podcast, and this
is exactly the work they're talking about. You know, the
most successful people, whether you read their memoirs or their

(13:51):
books or you see them on a late night talk show.
I always think about Jim Carey and that famous example,
who's like, I wrote myself a check and you know,
or or Oprah who said, well, you know, and it's
easy for Oprah because she's a billionairest to say, well,
you know, the money just came to me because I
was passionate about it. But being able to like unpack
that and get to the meat and potatoes of how

(14:12):
they did it. Are the things that I think we
miss so often in those two second snippets that you
see on Instagram. So this is why I really love
the work that you're doing, and you help people really
explain it. And so when you talk about saying like
this energetic feeling, sure, it's being able to say and
connect to that and really allow that to be the

(14:33):
force that guides you towards what you want, right And
it's this is it's it's easier. It's actually easier. I
was gonna say easier said than done, but that's the
exact opposite of what I want to say. It's actually
easier than you think it is. I think it's really easy,
but it's not simple. And it's consistent. Right Like, if
you think about if you've been alive for forty years,

(14:56):
fifty years, etcetera, then you've really like ingrained these neural
pathways in a very specific way. And I would imagine
that your life can be a little bit like groundhogs day,
and you can shift that life to be living um
on this consistent trajectory of good things, Right Like, like
I always say, the better it gets, the better it gets,

(15:16):
and the worst it gets, the worse it gets. Right,
And so you want to be on this path where
kind of it's the snowball effect of really great things
that are being drawn to you. And oftentimes, UM, that
eludes people. And I love that, Like really famous people, right,
is they do they know these universal truths, but because

(15:39):
there's so much friction in the world around is this
just woo woo that doesn't make sense? They don't really
spend their time telling you what they know to be
true and how they have achieved their level of success.
But you can find kind of like these old snippets
of Oprah where she really leans much more into it

(15:59):
and you hear her saying these things that are clearly
kind of aligned with this belief that she's absolutely co
creating her life in this really special way. And um,
and it's available to everyone. I love that. Okay, have
we gone through the whole process? Because I feel like
there's a fourth and final step that you usually guide, UM,

(16:19):
your should I call clients friends, UM, clients and friends
friends and clients. Usually my clients end up being my friends. UM.
I think that it really the last step is like
having a high level of self awareness and compassion, right,
because what often happens is that people will say, we

(16:39):
start the process and they say, I believe that, I
already believe that. I already believe that. I don't know
why it's not showing up in our life, and it's
because our conscious brain, which we believe is kind of
what we think and how we see the world, is
saying like, no, I know that to be true. I
know it. It's true that I can have this wonderful

(17:00):
life of my dreams. But it's your subconscious and you
need to um level of self awareness where you're in
touch with your subconscious because it's our subconscious brain that's
running of our lives. It's what helps us breathe, that's
what helps us um our eyes blink, like all of
these things are happening automatically in our bodies, but it's

(17:20):
also happening at a at a large level in our brain.
But our conscious brain, which is only five, is telling
us no, we believe that we know that we're doing that,
but we aren't. And so when you really take a
step back and have this high level of self awareness
and understanding of what's really happening deep in your subconscious

(17:41):
that's when you're gonna see these much quicker manifestation, so
to speak. And then having a level of compassion in
the world right because as you look out into the world,
you really want to be in this place where where
you understand that all the transgressions you might have made
in your life are because of things that have happened

(18:01):
to you, and all the transgressions other people make, even
if they're to you, are because of what's happened to them.
And when we live this kind of life of compassion, um,
both for ourselves and for others, we really open ourselves
up for all of the good that is in the world. Oh,
I love that. I love that, and it's so true.

(18:22):
So I want to talk a little bit about um,
you know, small things that we can do in our
everyday life, especially as it pertains to you know, abundance
is a big thing. And I love that word because
it doesn't just mean money, guys. Abundance can come to
us in so many different forms in our life that
you know, can bring us happiness and joy from just

(18:43):
you know, frank, abundance of friendship and overflowing of wealth, health,
all of these things. But what are some of the
easy tips, UM that you can give to our money
movers to start bringing these things in. I actually just
recently wrote a journal entry, which is what I call
my blog because it's usually musings that I get from

(19:04):
conversations with friends and in the community that trigger that
I should write about it. And so I wrote one
about abundance, which you can find UM on my website.
But it gave kind of three tips which I think
are really really helpful when we're thinking about abundance. And
the first was around kind of reframing, you know, what
we believe and how we think about the world, and

(19:26):
really like thinking through the lens of what we want
to be true. I was saying to a friend just recently,
you know, we really are hard on people who look
through the world through rose colored glasses and rainbows and unicorns.
But at the end of the day, kind of having
this kind of positive expectation and outlook on life is

(19:47):
going to serve you better than being pessimistic. The second
thing is really yes. The second thing is really around
the scarcity mindset. You know, money UM is an infinite
reads or and so often we think of it as
finite but I always just laugh, like, right when we
were in the middle of this global pandemic, you know,
we printed more money. We just made more. Now people

(20:09):
will say that's why we're in the trouble we are
and now, But at the end of the day, money
just keeps coming and coming and coming. There is um
no finite amount of money. And so if you if
you think in this scarcity mindset and you have envy
towards people who are living a life that you prefer,

(20:29):
then you're really also for all those things to you.
So when I see someone in the world who's accomplished
or achieving or working towards something, um that I would
love to have in my life, I really pause to
give them their flowers and say, like, this is amazing,
Like you are doing this thing and um. And I
looked to them as a role model of what's possible, because,

(20:52):
as I mentioned earlier, if someone has accomplished what you're
looking to accomplish, that means it's absolutely possible for you.
And so anytime you feel yourself having a little bit
of envy or disdain towards a person living your dream,
you don't even know if it's their dream, but they're
living your dream and you need to really um send

(21:14):
them love. And then the last thing is really around
being grateful every little thing that comes to you. Right
if you're seeking to have greater financial abundance in your life,
if you get a check for thirty dollars, you need
to be just as excited as if that was a
check for thirty thousand dollars. There is no level of
what is possible. We create the limitations in our head.

(21:34):
But the more that we are grateful for the things
that are coming our way, that are on the path
of what we're looking to achieve, the more we will
draw that to us. Right. So, I every day, even
with my five year old, have this really big gratitude
practice where we talk about what we're most happy for
that occurred that day. And so if you're looking to
achieve health, if you're looking to achieve wealth, if you're

(21:58):
looking to achieve an imp of relationship, anything that moves
you down that path, you need to pause and say
thank you in the moment. I am a big fan
of a happy dance and it needs to be heartfelt,
A motive in nature, Okay, a heartfelt I love that
I love a happy dance. I love surprise checks for
even thirty dollars that come in the mail. Um, all

(22:19):
of this, and you know, I think it's what's really
interesting is you're also teaching this to your five year old.
I love that you know that this practice is something
that we're not just doing as late blooming adults, but
we can really change the narrative for our communities, you know,
as we start instilling these in our kids from a
young age. Absolutely, I mean, I think that our role

(22:41):
in this lifetime is really um to create a different
world for our children. And so I start with behind
And you know, if you walk up to him today
and asked him what was most important in life, he'd
say to be happy. And I'd say, and the happier
you are, And he'd say, the happier you are. He
knows that these things grow up among themselves and um,

(23:06):
and I know that kind of that worldview will really
serve him. Well, he's already of Oh my goodness, I
love that. That is really fantastic. Brandy, can you tell
