Speaker 1 (00:08):
Sure, it's time.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Hella hellallo, Welcome to the not even Nice Show. I'm
your host, rab Shooter, and it is Thursday, which means
our dear friend Mark Lupo joins us. Hey, Loopy, are
you there?

Speaker 3 (00:24):
Luy lewis here? Hey?

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Right, gossip before the show. Don't worry, We're not going
to leave you out. Everything we just thought it's about
will be in the show. It's going to be a
good show. Let's jump in. What time is it, my friends?
It is tea time big exclusive. At the top of
the show, Chris Jenna has declared war on Anna Winter.
Anna's Winter is the longtime editor in chief are Vogue.
The Kardashian Ball is coming, so Ada Winter oversees the

(00:50):
met Gala every year. You know it. They call it Oscars.
Fashion's Oscars, the biggest night of fashion. I've been looking
enough to go a couple of times, and it really
is extraordinary. You see the steps outside the Metropolitan Museum,
all these celebrities climbing those steps. Well, Chris Jenna now
wants a piece of the action. And after the success,
and it was a success, her seventieth Pirty Party had

(01:12):
a guest list that was fabulous, it was like the
oscars after she got those together for her seventieth. Now
she wants into the party business, and I'm told the
Kardashians Chris are talking about having a Kardashian Ball in
La to rival the met Ball. It won't be the
same night, but it will be an La equivalent of

(01:33):
the met Ball, except it will have the sparkle of
the Cardashians. Now I know that it was very easy.
It's very easy to make fun of the Kardashians, to
really count them out, to roll your eyes where Vogue
magazine Annah Winter is so so respectable, It really really is. However,
who would you rather have dinner with drinks with somebody

(01:56):
that's a little outrageous and ferny or somebody that's kind
of a little bit I know who I would pick.
I think this sounds like an amazing idea. I would
watch it. These balls go back in American history. Truman
Capodi had his famous black and white ball. Dare I
mention his name? But did he had his white ball too?
We shouldn't talk about that. But these balls, if they

(02:17):
were televised, if they had an artist, if we saw
the arrivals, I think they're onto something and you can
never count out Chris Jenna, what do you think?

Speaker 3 (02:27):
I absolutely love this and I will tell you why.
The world is changing, rob Everything is changing quickly and
we have to acknowledge that what worked in the past
is not working today. And the rules that Vogue has
no pictures in the bathroom, you're going to be exquirted out.
We're tired of that. We want to see selfie is
We want to have access to everything. And one thing
that Kardashians do give us is access to what's going

(02:48):
on in their lives. And I will say, you know,
the Vogue, it's still a relevant event, right, but every
passing year it becomes less and us relevant less. Big
stars are showing up. Chris's party was the biggest networking
event of the world. Like every billionaire, every major artist
was there. This is incredible. The power she has is
truly incredible.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Yeah, the power she has. Member Mark. Maybe fifteen years ago,
the Kardashians couldn't get into the met Ball. They were
not inviting them, actually banned. When I was in my
PR days, they had trouble finding a publicist. They went
round all the A list publicists, the ones that had
big stars and we didn't want them, and in the
end they ended up with a fantastic publicist, but we

(03:31):
all looked down Anne.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
No, this is a bit.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
When she took them on, we were like, she was
the smart one, she was the one that realized the future.
And it made her into a power publicist overnight because
she had the Kardashians. And so I think two magazines
didn't want to put them on the cover. It was
below Us, it was below Vogue, It's below validy Fair.
Oh no, this is where the sales are. This is

(03:54):
where the excitement is. I don't like snobs. It's one
of my your pets. I just don't like it. I
get some people think they're better because they work at
a much more, much more smart adlette. They've won Politzer prizes.
We're all doing the same thing, Mark to to a
certain degree. I was watching a morning show this morning,

(04:16):
Oh Gossip, and I loved it, all celebrities gossip. I
was watching the Coming Attractions to CBS. I was watched
I Love Survivor. So I was watching Survivor last night
on CBS and they had a promo for Gail King show,
and all they promos were celebrities and gossip, But I
was like, this is fabulous, this is where we are.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Why do we mark? Why do we.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Still pretend that we don't love gossip, that we don't
love celebrities, and if we do, were lesser, we look
down on people who stand up. I feel like I'm
in AA and I have to say I'm a shooter
and I love gossip.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Why do we do that?

Speaker 3 (04:49):
It's so funny and that's why it means you get
along so well because we both are categoricals, like very
successful people. We've we've done great things in our careers,
but we know what it is. We're in on the joke.
Okay it is, but it is a celebrity gossip. We all,
you know, we all enjoy it, but we admit it.
We just say flat out like we are you know,
we're in for it and we're going to say it.
And I think some people just think it's lowbrow or not,

(05:11):
you know whatever, and we don't care because we're making
money off doing this and having fun with it.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Yeah, and that's I think what makes a successful mark.
My neighbor in my building is Jack Schlossburg. He is
JFK's Manson. His grandmother was Jackie Oh. Yesterday he announced
he's going to run for Congress. And I bumped into
Jack in the elevator and he's a lovely guy and
we were chatting away. And what I love about Jack
is everybody has already written him off because he's not

(05:36):
going to have a traditional campaign. He's going to campaign
on TikTok. He's going to campaign like he'll sign up
to dating apps like Grinder a match and campaign there. Like.
He's a really untraditional person. Now, some of my friends
who are a little bit more traditional think this is
disgusting and he should be sitting down with sixteen minutes
in the New York Times and I'm like, no, no, no,
he should make a cameo, I'll watch What Happens Live

(06:00):
with all.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
The gossip magazines.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
He should be shirtless on the roof. He should do
TikTok videos by the river.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
And I said, that's the future.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Now. We were not a political show. We try so
hard not to talk about politics. But I think the
White House at the moment has changed the rules too.
If the White House is doing memes and TikTok, we
might not like it, but that's where the culture is now.
And I see the magazines, I see the TV shows.
I see these outlets that are resisting it, marked that

(06:28):
don't want to do They'll be gone in a couple
of years. You got to jump in. Wendy Williams did
this mark. Everybody looked down their nose at the Wendy
Williams show. Everybody in television, well, they all wanted to
be on the show, but if you talked about the
show to them privately, they would roll their eyes. I
was the only one who has said I'd rather be
on Wendy Williams than sixty minutes.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
It wasn't you know. At the time working there, it
felt as though it was people would say hell to
you or like really in seeming comments. But now you know,
looking back, I kind of show what a piece of
pop cultural history when I can't when he was and
we just in one of a minute at the time, you.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Just want to meet the time Kathilli gived. People made
fun of hers, and let's be honest, that fourth Hour
aren't the same with her.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
It's not.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
It's not the same with that without Kathili. So leading
to what you love here, Stop being embarrassed. Stop calling
stuff a guilty pleasure. We have no guilt anymore. If
you want to listen to to a pop star that
nobody likes, if you want to listen to Britney Smiths,
knock yourself out and enjoy your life. Nobody else's business,
although it is our business about how you're going to
vote on this pole, that pole of the day, Christianna

(07:35):
declares war on Anna Winter. Trust me, you're going to
hear this first here that the Kardashian Ball is coming.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
I can't wait. I think so great.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Would you rather go to the Netball or the Kardashian Ball?
You're only going to get one invite this year, Mark,
just which one? Would you rather go to? The met
Ball is extraordinary? I'm not putting it down. It's I
wish everybody could experience a night like that? Or would
you rather go to the Kardashian Ball?

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Hey?

Speaker 2 (08:06):
Go vote on our Twitter page at Naughty Nice Rabaut.
Facebook page is naughty Yosip. I'm sure to check back
to morrow.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
To hear your results. Hey, Lupie, what are you working
on all right?

Speaker 3 (08:17):
So Britney Spears is feeling paranoid over her sons. That's
because she believes they're spies for Kevin Fetter Line. Oh oh, okay,
let me explain this going on here. So Britney Spears
is now deeply suspicious of her teenage sons sudden attempts
to reconnect, and she's convinced they're reporting everything back to
their father, Kevin. Ugh, so Britney quld be right, She

(08:38):
could be right. So Brittany wants to believe they miss her.
She's terrified that Kevin is pulling the strings, and she
thinks every call, every I miss you, is being analyzed.
One of our sources is saying Brittany has long accused
federal line up manipulating the boys during their estrangement, and
his new memoir You Thought You Knew has left her
feeling raw and betrayed all over again. Now, sources are

(08:59):
saying she feels like Kevin is using the kids as
ponds first to her hurt now to monitor her. And
while Kevin's claims she supports the reunion, Brittany has reportedly
switched into full self protection mode. She's keeping conversations short
and guarded, and she doesn't know who to trust, not
even her own children.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Mark, can we cut her a break? At some point?
Everything with Brittany. Well, I think she's right to feel
this way because I read the book, and the book
is full of quotes from the kids after visiting their mom.
So after they visit their mom, they go home and
tell their dad, and he wrote them down and put
them in a book ten years later. Shame on him.
But there's some truth here. Who do you trust? I

(09:40):
would hate you always think growing up, I'd love to
be rich and famous. But the few famous people that
I know don't have very good lives, and they can't.
They don't know how to trust anybody because so many
people in their lives are on the payroll. And so
I do get really suspicious here. Brittany has paid Kevin
child support for those kids a long time, and then

(10:01):
the minute that child's support stopped, he put out the book,
And so I don't think that's a coincidence either. I'm
sick of all these people using Britney spears. It makes
me so sad for her. Yes, she needs a lot
of help. I'm not gonna say Britney's in good shape.
She's not. She's in terrible shape. But there's no one
to help her. And now that she's lost trust in
her children, how can we expect her to trust a therapist,

(10:22):
a conservator, a lawyer, anybody that's gonna want to help her,
She's not gonna trust. And if I'd lived the life
that Britney had led, I understand Mark, I wouldn't trust
anybody either.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
Awful.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
It's awful, And I think to your point, you know,
living in New York City, for example, we can walk
around and be anonymous and no one knows where we are,
and we can do whatever we want and no one cares,
and it just feels so nice to have that freedom.
And I feel like Britney's life has become so small
and so isolated, and now even her own kids, she's
not sure if she can trust. And I feel like
that must make you just feel out of control and lonely,

(10:54):
and it just it really kills me. She does not
deserve this.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
It does some nights that I go out with Bruce
and friends, and if a famous friend of ours is
in town, I'm always like, oh, should invite him, And
we often don't because it would just ruin the evening,
not just with security, but when somebody famous turns up,
the whole conversation changes towards them and We're no longer
talking about just their lives or what happened. We're talking
about their career. Like you imagine if you and me
Mark were sitting for dinner and Mariah Carey joined us, Like,

(11:21):
the dinner's going to be very different after her. It
could be a lot of fun, but it's going to
be a very different night. And so be careful how
you put the recipe together here. I understand, Brittany, it's
really really lonely. I don't know the solution to this.
I don't know how she makes friends. I don't know.
I wish she was working again, because she'd meet people
on the movie sets or in the recording studios. Like
you and me Mark, we met through work. You often

(11:42):
become friends with people you work with. In fact, I
find the biggest joy of work. It's not necessarily the
work or the money, it's the friendships.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
I've met really great people doing this crazy life, this crazy,
crazy job. Oh, Brittany, my heartbreaks. Okay, moving along.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
I love this.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Kim Kardashian has dumped Megan because Meghan made Kim remove
all the photographs of her at the James Bond birthday
party for her mummy So if you remember, Kim put
up on Instagram some pictures of her with lots of
celebrities beyond saying me major Stars, Oprah, Mega, Markle Meghan
didn't like it. The pictures have been removed, and Kim

(12:19):
is now like what but really, girl, like, this was
a party. This was not a private affair. Somebody didn't
sneak in with a camera behind a bush, or somebody
didn't do something mean or you know, I like sometimes
it wasn't TMZ jumping out of a tree.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
This was a party.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
She was dressed beautifully, she was in full hair and makeup.
There was no need to remove these pictures. I've seen
the pictures. Mark. If she was covered in boogies, Like,
if she was covered in snot, I'd say, oh, please
don't post that picture. But she wasn't. If I was
out with you, Mark and we took a picture and
both look cute in it, I'd post it. And if
you said we remove that picture because on my privacy,

(12:57):
I'd be like, oh, girl, like, get over yourself. Kim
is not into this, and so once again the markles Megan.
You gotta learn how to treat people well, because if
you bite them you're not gonna be invited to the
party anymore. Buddy things.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
I mean to quote our friend Dylan. They have become
serial pests. These two are so annoying and they I
would not have them at my party. And I was
doing a little bit of digging earlier and people magazines
are reporting that. And they usually are so talent friendly.
They kind of are the mouth They are very very self.
They're the mouthpiece of a lot of these celebrities. And
apparently Meghan and Harry checked a box that said, I

(13:40):
do not, you know, allow my image to be recorded.
Blah blah blah. You were attending the biggest party, Like ever,
what do you think Beyonce is being photographed and it's
okay with it? Beyonce is so private. You can't have
it both ways.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Please don't have it both You can't have it both fries.
Now I know because I have a couple of friends
who are actually at the past say they were filming
it for the Kardashians. So that's why the box was ticked.
It was so that you gave your rights to air
on Hulu. When you go to the Oscars or you
go to the Valley Fair party, people take photographs. They
might not be camera crews inside the room. I think

(14:14):
if you bring a camera crew in, like if you
go to an MTV event, there's big signs up like this,
if you by entering the premises you were given permission
for your face to be used on the broadcast, there
were not signs up. But don't go to a Kardashian
party if you're not willing to be photographed. They are
the Kardashians. This is not a subtle private family.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
What did you expect?

Speaker 2 (14:35):
What did you expect? Okay, quickly, before we get a break,
we have some cute news about our friend Jennifer Aniston.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
What is she up to?

Speaker 3 (14:42):
I'm so happy for her. Jennifer Anderson is farn head
over heels for hypnotherapist Jim Curtis and is already talking
about a future together.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
I know it's cute.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
It's very cute. Jensays, she's never felt this way before.
He's warm, he's funny, and he's totally uninterested in Hollywood games.
I'm not sure about that.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
But the couple.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
Went to you know, became Instagram official this month when
Aniston posted a cozy black and white photo calling Jim
her love and her cherished, and according to those close
to the actress, the relationship is deep and quickly. They've
talked about marriage. Jen's genuinely opened and saying, I do again.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Oh, we love love, we love love. I want Jen
to be happy. I don't care if you're married or not,
that's up to you. But I just love this. I
hear is a good guy, Rachel. You could tell who
was Tiger Wood's first mistress. I love that. We have
to say first of them, Rachel's Fredduce the daytim and
she said, he's a good guy. He's a really, really
good guy. This makes me happy. Okay, we're going to

(15:40):
take a quick break and we will be right back.
Welcome back to the naughty but nice Share and your
hairs to rob you to Hey, let's get to the polls, do.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
Lasher.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
We talked about William being furious that the king is
pushed Princess Beatrice that's Andrew's daughter back into royal life.
Is it too soon?

Speaker 1 (15:59):
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Is this too soon? Let's have a look. Eighty percent
said yes, you don't want Beatrice to be punished for
the crimes of her terrible parents. Let's be clear here,
they're awful people. However, at the moment she is still
their daughter. Visually, she's still a york It is a lot.
I agree. I don't want her banish, but I think
that we should just all just take a little bit
of a breath here before we push Beatrice back out

(16:23):
into the royal circuit. Hey, don't forget to vote on
today's Paul. We'll go to our Twitter page at Naughty Knives.
Rob Our facebook page is Nordy Gossip, and be sure
to check back to mar Router here your results are
nam Ooh it's time for the nicest of the day.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
Oh wow, Taylor Swift and Miles Teller are laughing off
few rumors. They're still friends, Rob. That's right. Good the
internet is wrong this time. Taylor Swift, Miles Teller, along
with his wife Killy, they're still totally solid. Des By
claims that Taylor froze them out, so to say it's nonsense.
They still text, they talk for ba. They're just busy

(17:03):
adults or busy lives.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
Well, I get it, Yeah, I get it. I get it. Mark.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
Often when you see people disappear for a minute, you think,
oh my goodness, there for a couple of days ago,
there was a rumors that Timothy Schallameau had broken up
with Kylie Jenna because he didn't go to christ Jenna's
birthday party. I was the first to say absolutely not.
All My sources were like, they're together. A, he's filming,
and B he hates those big type of parties. So
just because he wasn't there doesn't mean they're not friends. Mark,
we go months without seeing each other. We see each

(17:29):
other on the zoom, but we talk a lot, we
text a lot. But I don't value our friendship on
how many times we're in the same room together. I
used to, but I don't do that anymore. After the pandemic,
I realized you can be great friends with people. You
don't have to physically be with them all the time.
So they talk, they text. Don't worry, these two are
still friends. Let's let's do our naughtiest stuff the day. Naughty, naughty,

(17:52):
naughty Amy Schumer is begging photo agencies to delete all
her before pictures. So she's lost about forty pounds. She
looks great, she always looked great. She's been using the
weight loss of drugs, and she now has removed from
her own social media all the before images, but she's
gone further than that, and she's reached out to several
of the big photo agencies saying can you remove these pictures?

(18:12):
It makes me sad because who you were isn't who
you are, and you've got to accept your past to
accept your future. To raise a picture doesn't mean it
didn't exist like it makes me sad, Amy that you
still still have this much concerns thought shame about weight loss,

(18:32):
that you that you would do this. I've lost a
lot away. I used to be about thirty forty pounds heavier.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
Mark. I look at those pictures and they.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
Give me pride. I actually love it when people use
an old picture of me, because when I turn up,
you're You're messy, surprised, I look much of bed. You
don't want a great picture all the time because when
the beature, they're like, oh, good grief. And so I'm
quite comfortable with my past. Mark, What would you be
like this if you were heavier at one point? I
don't think you've ever been heavier. For the last twenty
years I've known you, you look exactly the same. Would

(19:01):
you want the pictures removed or is it part of
your life?

Speaker 3 (19:03):
No, it's part of my life. You know. Facebook has
pictures of me from fifteen years ago looking crazy, and
I don't care. It's just it is what it is,
and we don't forget. The internet does not forget any.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Absolutely, it doesn't forget silly. You're wasting your time. Spend
your time on being happy.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Let's end with a.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
Moment of rab r Ruby. The scariest part of pursuing
your goals is not starting. It's continuing when it feels
like nothing is working. Starting takes courage, mark but continuing
that takes faith. That's the part that nobody talks about,
the in between. Everybody talks about the beginning, and everybody
talks about the end. We want to talk about how
hard it wants to start and the huge success we

(19:38):
are now, but nobody talks about the middle bit, the grind,
the stretch of days where you just do the work.
It's frustrating, it's lonely, and this is where most people quit.
But here's the truth. Here's the truth. That season, that
season right now, when it feels like nothing is happening,

(19:59):
is when everything can happening. It's when you build resilience.
It's when you sharpen your skills. It's when you're proving
to yourself that your commitment is real. Progressmark doesn't always
look like progress. Sometimes it looks like showing up again
and again and again. I'm in the process at the
moment of starting a new novel. It's not glamorous. It's

(20:20):
really boring. Every day I'm sitting down for two hours
by myself, frustrated, lonely. I gotta do the work, and
for six months I'm going to bang out this novel
and then eventually when it's published.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
ILL love that.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
I love the successful part. I love the beginning when
you just have an idea. It's the grind. It's doing
it day after day. It's getting up every day and
going to work. It's getting up every day and doing
the job and nobody applauds. That is what leads to success. Hey,
my friends, that is it for today. Thank you so

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
