When it comes to getting stuff done, you have two options: excuses or changes! It is that simple. Excuses are just your fears, desperately hoping to convince you not to do anything new. Keeping you in your comfort zone, in a place that feels familiar. But you are never too busy, too old, too fat, too stupid, or too anything to make a change.

What you are is making excuses because you are frightened! Which is why you need a deadline.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Get It All Advice, Hezello, Helloa, Llall, Hello, and Rob Shooter.
Welcome to a special edition of The Naughty but Nice Show.
So Monday to Friday. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday,
we do a twenty minute podcast on all the celebrity
news or the celebrity gossip of the day. We love it. However,

(00:29):
as well as being one of the most dry gossip
columnists in the world, I'm also a best selling author
of self help author I'm recognized as one of the
leading experts on habits, on change, on self and so
On the weekends, we do these short podcasts only about
ten minutes to hopefully set us up to have an

(00:50):
amazing week, and amazing month, an amazing year, and amazing life.
Today's podcast is all about remembering that every smart person
sets a deadlon. How often do you put off doing
something that makes you feel uncomfortable? Saying I will do

(01:12):
it tomorrow is the easiest way to make sure it
will never happen. I know it's a lot easier to
say I'll do it tomorrow, but tomorrow never comes unless
you set a deadlon and you stick to it. No
one knows that better than I do. After almost a

(01:33):
decade of putting things off and pushing away my dreams,
all of that changed when I started being honest with
myself about the real reason I was doing it, The
real reason I was putting everything off until tomorrow, the
real reason I could never get anything done. The real
reason was because I was scared, frightened to go after

(01:58):
my dreams. It felt safer to convince myself that I
would get around to it one day, rather than letting
today be the one day of getting it done. Pablo
Picasso said the following, I love this quote. Only put
off until tomorrow what you are willing to die having

(02:22):
left undone. How truthful is that, when it comes to
getting stuff done, you really have two options, change or excuses.
It's that simple. Excuses are just our fears, desperately hoping
to convince you not to do something newer, keeping you

(02:43):
in your comfort zone, in a place that feels familiar.
You are never too busy, never too old, never to stooping,
never too fat, never to anything to make a change.
You're making excuses. What you're doing is making excuses because
you were frightened. Then next time you make an excuse,

(03:04):
admit it. Admit that you are scared, and then this
is really important, set a deadline. Julie Andrews, who I love.
I've met her a couple of times, said quote. There
will be many times in your life, at school or
when you are a grown up, when people will distract
or divert you from what needs to be done. You

(03:26):
may even welcome the distraction, but if you use it
as an excuse for not doing what you are really
supposed to do, you can blame no one but yourself.
If you truly wish to accomplish something, you should allow
nothing to stop you, and chances are you will succeed.
I would distract myself all the time. Now I understand

(03:50):
that what I was doing was actually looking for excuses
because I was scared. I didn't think I deserved a
good life. It's that sad, but it's true. Didn't think
I deserved it. I lived in fear that one day
I would be exposed as a total fraud. Now I
know I deserve a great life and won't let anyone,

(04:11):
including myself sabotaget. Don't be scared, be smart. When we
are honest with ourselves, our fears don't disappear, but our excuses.
Do you have to push forward even if your legs
are shaking, keep walking, even if your voice is trembling

(04:33):
with fear. Speak up and refuse to be silenced. Don't
forget you are smart and brave enough to go after
all your dreams. Mark Zuckerberg said quote, the biggest risk
is not taking any risk at all. The only strategy
that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks. Smart

(04:58):
people are never too busy to make time to do
what is important. They don't cloak themselves with excuses to
stop themselves from doing anything new. Rather, they opt for
an extraordinary life rather than a safe one. You have
to take chances or you're never going to grow. And

(05:21):
if you never grow because you keep making excuses, you
will regret it. Cameronda said quote, Your regrets aren't what
you did, but what you didn't do. So I take
every opportunity me too, Cameron. Procrastination is not who you are,

(05:42):
it's what you do. Let me say that again. Procrastination,
it's not who you are, it's what you do. It's
a bad habit to procrastinate. It's not in your DNA,
it's not your natural state of being. And It's not
something that was God given to you. No one was
born a procrastinator. Rather, some have a bad habit of procrastinating.

(06:06):
I know I did to break it. Write down all
things that you don't want to do today. The phone
calls you want to ignore, the emails you don't want
to respond to, and the conversations you don't want to have,
and the tasks that you've been putting off forever. Now,
start with the one thing you want to do the least.

(06:29):
Get it out of the way, and get it out
of your mind. The very last person I want to
speak to is always the first person I call. The
thing that I avoid the most is the first thing
I get done in the morning. It does not matter
if you start scared, or late, or even start over.
You just need to start, and once you do, you

(06:52):
will discover that that is the best way to silence
your fears. John Lennon said quote, there are two basic
motivating forces in life, fear and love. When we are afraid,
we pull back from life. When we are in love,
we open to all that life has to offer. We

(07:15):
need to learn to love ourselves first. If we cannot
love ourselves, we cannot be fully open to our ability
to love others. Take a deep breath and have faith
in yourself every lesson, every challenge, and every hard moment.
Everything you are learning along the way will help you

(07:37):
to get where you need to go. And always set
a deadline. Ashton Kutcher send quote, The sexiest thing in
the world is being really smart and being thoughtful and
being generous. Everything else is crap. I promise you it's

(07:57):
just crap. People try to sell you to make you
feel like less, so don't buy it. Be smart, be generous,
be thoughtful, and always always set a deadline. Hey, thank
you so much for listening to these weekend editions of
The Naughty but Nice Show. I know it's a little
strange having the in your ear Monday to Friday talking

(08:21):
reporting on celebrities, and then on the weekend doing this,
but I love it, and our numbers are just so phenomenal.
I think we're really hitting a nerve here. We all
need just ten minutes, ten minutes. It's every weekend to
think about ourselves. After all, you are the start. It's

(08:42):
not even nice with Rah
