Speaker 1 (00:08):
Terrible advice. Welcome to the Naughty butN Night Show. It's Friday,
and I'm Rob Shooter and every Friday, our dear friend
Corey Andrew joins us. Hey, Corey, are you there? I
am here, Darling. Hello everyone, Happy Friday, Happy Friday. I

(00:30):
have a little bit of a soul throat today, so
don't be alarmed. I went to the opening night of
Praides last night, the big musical starring Ben Platt. It
is so fantastic and so moving, and I've got to
say Corey, as somebody who loves theater, I'm so happy.
I read all the raves this morning in the New
York Times and everywhere else. I'm so happy that a

(00:54):
real musical, like a musical that is really based on
something d can thrive of today. I'm so sick of
these silly Britney spears. Miss but you don't want to
be Yeah, yeah, they make a movie over again into
a music all doubtfire on stage. I like the movie,

(01:14):
so it's really excited to see it. If you're in
New York, check it out. What time is it, my friends?
It is tea time. So a list star has made
a very harsh claim about Meghan Markle's ambitions to be royal.
Brian Cox, who you know from Succession, He's been around forever.
He's really an acting legend. He is claiming in a

(01:37):
new interview that Meghan clearly had ambitions to join the
royal family before tying the knot in two thousand and eighteen.
The actor, who is now seventy six. He alleges that
marcol had childhood dreams of marrying Prince Charming. He also
noted we shouldn't be surprised by the drama that she

(02:01):
and Harry have created in the family. He said, quote,
I mean, she knew what she was getting into. Now,
a couple of things here. I think this sounds awful.
If you think of ambition as a bad thing, I
don't know. I think it's a good thing. So maybe
she did have ambitions to marry somebody fabulous. She wasn't

(02:21):
going to marry somebody that she didn't think was extraordinary.
She certainly found somebody extraordinary. So that's kind of a
controversial thing to say, but I think we all aim
for that, don't we all as young children want to
marry Prince Charming or somebody that's so special. So I
don't think it's actually as mean as it's sad. It's like,
I'm not sure he's saying this is to be nice,
let's be clean. Yea. Yeah. But actually, when I read

(02:43):
the quotes and I thought about them, Gosh, when I
was little, I wanted to marry an astronaut, Prince Charming,
a ballet dancer. I wanted to marry somebody that was extraordinary.
And so I'm not actually sure it's that mean. It's
only mean if you think ambition is a bad thing.
And a lot of times people say that, don't they

(03:04):
to put you down like a Watch her, she's so ambitious.
Watch him, he thinks he can do anything. Gosh, if
somebody says that about me, I'm like, thank you very much. Yeah. Yeah.
I just watched a really amazing old interview with Madonna.
She was with Jane Polly and she says, the reason
why I've made it in others heaven't is because of
my ambition. It's temperature other people's. And I do agree

(03:26):
with you, Rob with this Meghan Markle thing, like what
girl does not want to marry Prince Charming? Disney made
a whole empire out of that, So it's a thing, right,
so she actually did it. So she did it. She
did it. It never quite it's as wonderful as you think.
But I think that's the truth in everything. When you
look at all these celebrities, or you're scrolling through your

(03:47):
Instagram looking at all these influences and these people that
look across as really happy and successful, that's only part
of the story. It's a caption of the story. I
hope they are happy, but nobody's happy all the time.
And so I think he Ian Cox is actually saying
something really profound. I was really ready to jump on
him and tell him to mind his own reasons, but
when I read the quotes, I was like, it actually

(04:09):
makes a lot of sense. I'm not that ambitious. I
am pushy, and I said, I'm not that ambitious, like
I would be more successful if I was more ambitious.
My level of success actually pretty much reflects my ambition.
I see Andy Cohen is much more ambitious than me.
I don't think it's any more talented. I think, to

(04:30):
be honest, though, and I'm not saying that to build
myself up. I want to build you up. Noughties, you
were just as talented as everybody else. In fact, let's
be honest, most of us are about the same level
of talent. When you're in school growing up, everybody in
your class is about the same. There were one or
two people who were brilliant, and there were one or

(04:50):
two who were terrible. But the bag and the rest
of us that sat in the middle, we all sort
of got to be a see in our exams. And
that's perfectly fine. In life, I am not that ambitious,
and I can say that without putting myself down. I
know where my ambition is. I don't want to work
on weekends. I don't want to be on the road.

(05:12):
I want to be with Bruce. So I want to
be of Derby. It isn't a life that is for me.
So I tell my friends, and when I was a publicist,
my clients, Before you do all the work, decide what
sort of life you want. And I think this is
a good test for all of us. What sort of
life do you want? I value my weekends with Bruce.

(05:32):
I value sleeping in my own bed. I value going
to my local Barbotinos. I talk about it all the
time and having a drink. Yeah, I like it. I
don't want to be bothered, so then I have created
a work life that reflects the life I want to
have in my personal life, because they do go hand
in hand. When I think of someone, you said, Madonna,

(05:55):
who I adore to Madonna's got a life that I
don't want. When I think of her and who's in
her life, who's not in her life all the time
she's on the road, it makes me a bit sad
like that life. And I'm not judging her, I'm judging me.
It's not for me. Where do you fall in this?
Like you love your home, comfort story, your very houseproud

(06:17):
you brought a new home. Yes, would you give up
all that to go on the road and never be home?
You know? I think yes, But I think it would
be something I have to do now while I'm at
this age, because I'm young enough to still sort of
I have a lot of things I want to do still,
So in this instance, yes, I am still ready to
go out there, you know, touring if I have to

(06:39):
a few years to really make sure that my older years,
my later life is exactly what I want. So I
kind of have a balance there. Yeah, give it to me.
I want it all. I want it all. Oh you
want honey? Then you should have it all. I don't.
The only read I'm on to go on too is
the road that takes me to body really quite. I

(07:02):
don't want to say I'm a lazy person because that's
not true. It's not about lazy and that's a mistake
everybody makes. It's about choices, right. I like this life,
I really do. When I was at my quote most successful,
when I had a morning show and I was hanging
out with j Loo and I was on the phone
with Alicia Keys as miserable, I was so lonely because

(07:25):
I never got to see Bruce. I was always working.
Did he look like I was having a lot of fun?
But I was really by myself in a hotel room
A lot of the times. I was just literally wriggled
with loneliness. And now that that isn't my life. So
find the life that's right for you, everybody, which brings
us to air poo. The question of the day. Brian Cox,

(07:49):
a very famous actor. He said that Meghan Markle knew
what she was getting into marrying Prince Harry. Is he right?
Is he right? It's not stupid here. Megan Markle's a
really smart person, right, did she know what she was
getting get into. Hey, go vote on Twitter page at
Naughty Nice rob at Facebook pages and the shoe is

(08:12):
to check back on Monday to hear your results. Hey,
Corey Love, what are you working on? Yes? Well, speaking
of j Lo, you just summoned her clearly. Ben Affleck
reveals that the reason he appeared so miserable at the
Grammys was because of a little with the cameraman. Yeah
so so. Ben Affleck denies having a bad time at

(08:32):
the twenty twenty three Grammy Awards. Let's start there. He
says his unenthused face was actually due to the host,
Trevor Noah, catching him off guard for a skit they
were preparing to do. He says, I saw Noah approach
and I was like, oh god, they are framing us
up for a shot. But I didn't know they were rolling.
The Gone Girl star said he had been joking with

(08:53):
the Jenny from the Block singer, telling her as soon
as they start rolling, I am going to slide away
from you and leave you sitting next to Trevor, and
she goes, you better effing not leave. Affleck added, but
you know, a lip reader who looked closely thought that
what Jennifer Lopez had said, was look more friendly, look motivated.
You know, they have these people out there who read

(09:13):
lips and they always even like match up some audio sometimes.
So that went viral with people like overdone it what
Jennifer Lopez might have been saying to Ben Affleck. But anyway,
I don't really believe this. He looked so miserable, idols
with it. He looked like like I can now that
day or something. Yeah. I think he has that resting face,
resting beeface. Yeah, yeah, Like whenever I've seen him out,

(09:36):
he never is smiling. If I've seen him in bars
and restaurants, and he's not a happy, go lucky fella.
If you want happiness, if you want someone that's very light,
then Matt Damon is your guy. He's just full of sunshine.
You know some people, maybe you're one of these people.
Maybe sunshine is not your bab setting. Maybe things come

(10:02):
along and it makes you really happy. I'm the opposite.
I'm really quite a happy person and things come along
and make me sad. It's like it's very rare that
something comes along and makes me much happier than I
am already. Like I just Bruce it annoys him, my husband,
he said, I pop out of bed like a piece
of toast. I can't wait for my legs to move

(10:25):
and my minute, my eyes open, I start to talk.
But some of my friends and I've come to like
really love them for who they are. Yeah, they're not searching.
Misty's not a morning person. Oh no, Now you don't
normally get up very very early either. I know for
the podcast Coreer, you get up and works. It's not

(10:45):
just about getting up, Actually it's working. And I don't
want anybody, you know, it's like on the Housepope when
they pulled back the curtain. You don't want to hear
that stuff. So I know you don't want to hear this,
But honestly, for twenty minutes, I know it sounds like
we're having a lot of fun, and we are, but
there is. It's a bit of work that games. So
it's not just getting up early, it's being prepared and
ready to go. What sort of personally are you more

(11:09):
of a night person, Corey or am so? I am
not a morning person at all, But I am a
happy person. But Joey way before me, like he literally
just came back from a walk. You know what. I'm like.
He's already been up and exercised, and I'm just like,
I have one eye open right now as we're talking.
So but once I'm up, I'm the same. I'm already

(11:32):
texting in my bed like it's you know seven, you're happy. Yeah,
I'm happy. I knew from the moment I met. We
had a drink together at Botinas. We didn't know each
other at all, but we arranged a drink. I reached
out to you and I loved your work and I
thought I have to meet him, and then I knew
you were a happy person. You know. I think it's
because you're so creative. My Bruce is still asleep. Bruce

(11:53):
doesn't go to bed until like one or two am. Same,
he's much more creative. In fact, we only probably spend
a few hours together with each other each day because
by the time by the time he's up, like, I'm
going back to bed. Yeah, you're we're the same. Actually
I'm much later than Joe, and but I'm creating. I'm
either on I'm video editing, or I'm making music or
I'm I'm carrying my next world take over. Yah, Bruce,

(12:16):
there's a lot of his writing late at night, and
his writing partner, Barry Barry Manilow is in La Palm Springs. Actually,
so it's a three hour time difference. So if it's
Swart at eleven o'clock there, it's at twelve one, two
o'clock in the morning here. And they say songwriters, it's
so interesting, And I think people that write books or
not or anything else would say this late at night.

(12:39):
There's something called your critical consciousness is turned off, so
that little voice in your head that keeps telling you
you're not good enough, you're not smart enough, this is
not really funny, this is not good work. That voice
is turned down at night, which is why people make
such bad decisions in bars and alcohol. Let's put it
like that. Moving along, so Aby Roebak and TJ. Holmes

(13:02):
are pitching the Ellen producers a new TV show. So
the two of them believe that their romance is actually
going to be the key to their success and what
got them fired they now think could be actually their
biggest selling point. So they are aggressively pitching their own
show to the producers behind Ellen. And they said that

(13:24):
they really welcome all the ongoing coverage about their relationship
because they think this is going to help them sellers show,
I'm not quite so sure. And they said it's easier
for them to pitch a show if they are in
the news than if nobody is talking about them. Their
chemistry is going to be a big selling point. Now,
we should point out on ABC when they took over

(13:46):
ABC GMA three, it was their chemistry that turned it
into a hit. However, other sources are pointing out that
ABC sold a brother sister chemistry not set. So, yeah,
we knew they got a log, we knew they were
great friends, we knew they teased each other, but I
think we thought of them as as just great friends,

(14:08):
brother and sister. When we reveal what it was revealed,
they didn't reveal it when they were exposed of being
a couple, Yeah, it got a little bit creepy. It's
going to be so interesting to see because Kelly Ripper
has been so successful with all her co hosts. Now
her husband's taken over, so we will know that they're
doing it at night. And do we still want to
talk to them in them? Yeah, yeah, I don't know.

(14:29):
It reminds me of also with the Kelly Ripper thing,
it reminds me of when Cathy Lee was there and
every five minute like Frank Frank, Frank, Frank Frank. And
so maybe it gets annoying too that their spouse is
so much in the mix. So I don't know about
this t J. Holmes thing. It could you know, what
stranger shows have been successful. It could happen. I don't know,

(14:49):
it could happen. I mean, he's lovely. I've known Amy forever.
I wish them the best. Although Ellen producers, is that
a wise choice after what happened when they when they
all exposed as Ellen has been mean, the producers will Yeah, no,
pick a different chef. You're going to pitch producers, pick

(15:11):
the Oprah producers. But she would never touch that. She's
not going to touch it. Yeah, she's not gonna touch it. Hey,
we're going to take a quick break and we will
be right back. Welcome back to the Naughty but Nice
Show Umbro Shooter with our dear friend Corey Andrew. Hey, Corey,
let's get to the polls. Yesterday we talked about Prince

(15:32):
Harry how he will attend the coronation, But Megan isn't
brave enough to go, claims Diana's former butler, so we
talked a lot about is that the nice thing to say? Brave?
I think she's braver than him. However, if we take
the butler at face value and Harry goes, Megan doesn't,

(15:54):
that question was should Megan go with Harry? Eighty percent
said yeah, she should be there to support him. They're
not going to be that welcoming. And so we've all
gone to birthday parties, family events, maybe even work. If
you have a friend with you, when you walk into
a hostile environment, it's always much better. So I agree, Megan.

(16:17):
If Harry goes, I think you should go to don't
forget to vote on today's pole. We're going to a
Twitter page I had Naughty and Eyes rob or our
Facebook page, nuty gossip and be sure it's check back
on Monday to hear your results. And now it's time
for our nice of the day. Yes, well, Sherry's shepherd.

(16:42):
This is so funny. She credits being locked up for
locking her success. Now check that she was in jail.
She was in jail. It's the craziest story. I was like, wait, what,
so she says, if I had she says, no, I
didn't either. It's so crazy. She says, Yeah, I went
to jail for not paying my tickets. At the time,
I did not think being in jail was a good moment,

(17:02):
But looking back, I learned to pay my bills. So
jail was that classroom. She says, it was a life
lesson and now I pay my bills on time now.
The former co host of The View says that she
served eight days for owing ten thousand dollars and unpaid
moving violations in the early nineties at the beginning of
her showbiz career, like who breaks up that many moving violations?

(17:25):
Like yeah, Sherry, I love her, love her honesty. This
show makes me gid watch. I know, I was frightened.
I was going to miss Wendy, and I do miss
Wendy to a certain extent still. But Sherry is just
a breath of fresh air. And I watched and there's

(17:47):
no meanness. There was a meanness to Wendy. Wendy had
a mean side, Sherry, Doesn't I love it? This story
made me scream. Maybe then maybe we all have to
have norty things happened to us to make us eyes Sherry, Sherry, Okay,
let's do add naughtiest the day The View is the naughtiest.
It's been slammed for not asking Hugh Grand about that

(18:08):
rude interview he had at the Oscars with Ashley Graham.
So he was on the View and the first question
you would have thought they would have asked him was
about why were you so rude? And the askers not
one person brought it up, and people on social media
were reacting, awful, you didn't bring up Ashley Graham. Another
person said, I'm guessing he wouldn't discuss it on the View.

(18:30):
He's so arrogant. A third person added, spineless. No one
asked him about his red carpet interview. So to remind everybody,
he was on the pre oscar show, on the red carpet,
and Ashley Graham asked him some questions, but what he's
he wearing? What's he excited about? The regular questions and stuff?
Were they they smartest questions from the world. No, but

(18:51):
she wasn't on sixty minutes. She was on the red carpet.
She was in the New York magazine. It was the
red carpet. Everybody else managed to answer these questions, but
somehow Hugh was too special, and some people are even
saying he was a jerk. Let me tell you something.
I've known him a long time and I've interviewed him
several times. This is who he is. He let the

(19:14):
whole world see who he is. And if you're okay
with that, like Hugh Grant, if you don't like that,
maybe he's not the guy for you. Rude friends with him. Okay,
let's end with a moment. Being your authentic self doesn't

(19:37):
guarantee success. So we talk a lot about you've got
to be your authentic self, You've got to be you.
I believe that, But he doesn't guarantee success. But what
I can tell you is being your inauthentic self that
guarantees failure. I love that advice, absolutely agree totally. It's truth.

(20:01):
It is the truth here. I think we all hope, gosh,
if we just be ourselves we will be successful. And
there's so many self help people out there telling you
be yourself and you will be happy, you will be successful.
That might not be the case. But what I can
guarantee you is if you are not yourself, if you
pretend to be somebody else, if you are inauthentic, that

(20:25):
will guarantee failure. Okay, that is it for this week.
