Speaker 1 (00:11):
It's no Welcome to the nortyven I Show. I'm your host,
Droub Shooter, and it is Thursday, which means our dear
friend Mark Lupa joins us, Hey, LUPI are You're loopy?

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Lou Is here?

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Loopy, lou How are you? We haven't count calling up
in a while. What have you been up to? Are
you still seeing that guy?

Speaker 2 (00:30):
I've still seen the guy. We're going to Naples, Florida
this weekend from a World Day week you want?

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Is this the first trip together?

Speaker 2 (00:38):
This is the first trip together. Off we go tonight.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
It's a milestone, that's what it could be. Matro break
sharing a hotel room.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Well, yeah, it could be a make or break. I'm
I feel like I'm a good person to travel with.
But I can be moody and.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Cranky, So you can be a little moody. Prickly that's
the word. You could be a little prickly and if
you get tired, all the plates delay or if the
room isn't nice.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
He's not ready for this, you know.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
I think at some point though, it's best that they
see the complete you. Yes, like it's not the bachelorette
or the bachelor. Here where it's just like champagne and
roses and helicopter rides. All that's lovely. Of course you'd
love me in that circumstance. See me when I can't
get a taxi and I need to get to Good
Day for a live hit. If you if you can

(01:30):
see that and you can still love that, rubshoote, then
this could work. So you've got to see you say
the bad. But I don't even know if it's the bad.
I think it's the complete picture. You're a good package,
but a little prickly good. Look. Okay, let's jump into
the show. What time is it, my friends? It's tea time.
Sad story at the top of the show. Tina Turner,

(01:52):
the legendary queen of rock and we can absolutely say that,
has died at eighty three years all. Her rep confirmed
her passing after a long illness in her home in Switzerland.
She became a Swiss residence, so she gave up her
an American citizenship moved to Switzerland. She first broke out

(02:14):
onto the music scene in the sixties with her husband Ike.
They were the Ike and the Tina Turner. Review noticed
his name came first. It was always about him and
she left him after years of domestic abuse. Ike really
kept tight control over her. He even gave her her name.
She wasn't Tina Turner until Ike came along, and he

(02:37):
didn't consult her. He just told her. One day they
put out a record and it said Tina Turner, and
she said, who's that? He said that you. He controlled
what she sang, what she wore, how she danced, everything
about her life. Things were so bad, and he beat
her so badly that when she finally left, she only
had thirty six cents to her name and a gas

(03:00):
station credit card. We've seen it in that amazing movie
with Angela Bassett, What's Love Got to Do with It?
Where literally she waits for Ike to fall asleep, runs
across a highway, checks into a motel, has no money,
and the person on the front desk, she was bleeding,
she had a black eye, was so kind to give

(03:22):
her a room for no money, just to stay here
and be safe. So a lot of people assumed that
after she left Ike, it was over because it was misogynists,
because Ike, everybody thought, was the one that created her.
He was the brains behind the operation. He was the
smart one that put all this together. Well, she had
the last laugh because without Ike, she proved to everybody

(03:44):
that it was Tina who was driving that train. She
went on to sell over two hundred million albums, twelve
Grammy Awards, three best sellers, and also several different movies.
Or from the girl that was born Anna May Bullock
in rural Tennessee went on to be a superstar. I

(04:09):
loved her. What about you, Mark, Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
I mean, she's one of those people that you just
think will live forever.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
You know, the.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Energy, that spunk, the charisma, the stage presence. And so
yesterday when I saw the news, my heart stopped for
a moment and I thought to myself, Wow, what a
life and what an inspiration. And we can all look
on to her now for many more years to come
and feel that you know that inner rock star and
all of us.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Yes, who hasn't shuffled around their kitchen or bedroom pretending
to be Tina Turner shaking everything? I love it. I
do love it, But I do think Mark, she will
live on forever. She isn't ever going to die because
of the body of work that she leaves behind, some
of the greatest rock songs of all time, I think

(04:54):
it's really interesting too, and we should talk about this,
is that she walked away from the spotlight. She didn't
want to do it anymore. So when she retired and
moved to Switzerland, people were really suspicious. We've all seen
those pop stars who are still on stage, you know
who you are, Hello, Hello, who probably shouldn't like they
don't quite have it anymore, but they're in their eighties
and they're still dancing around, and you're like, shares the exception.

(05:19):
She's still marvelous, So I don't have a word said
about her. But Tina said, I just don't want to
do it anymore. She did this really amazing interviewer with
Gail King in twenty and eighteen. She said that she
was glad her time on stage was over. Gail said,
people miss you, though, Tina, and Tina replied with a

(05:42):
little bit of a laugh, that's okay. They can watch
the videos, enjoy those, but unfinished with it. The amount
of energy, the amount of passion it must have taken
to put on a performance like that is something that
gets progg restively harder as you get older. She didn't

(06:03):
want to do it half ass. She didn't want to
not be able to put one hundred percent into her shows,
so she stopped. I really admire that. Knowing when to
sit down, knowing when to retire, and knowing when to
leave the party is something that I struggle with. I'm
frightened I'm going to be one of those lounge singers
in Vegas when I'm ninety, sing give me hits from

(06:27):
the eighties? What about you? Mark? Can you? Can you
move on? You know?

Speaker 2 (06:31):
I think we're similar in that we love to work
and we love what we do, and that's hard to stop.
But I will say that Tina has acquired something that
a lot of us aspire to, which is she's found
so much success and happiness that she can walk away
in peace, in a peaceful way and enjoy what she's built.
And she went to living that chateau in Switzer Larne

(06:51):
and live her life and like, that's that's fabulous to me.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Yeah, And finally she found love. For twenty three years
after the horrible relationship with Ike, she married the love
of her life, musician Irwin Bark and they had this
amazing life together in Switzerland. People don't know this, but
she was a Buddhist too, and she really learned through
following Buddha to forgive, to not hold on to the past.

(07:20):
What an amazing life well lived? Which brings us to
our pole question of the day. What is your favorite
Tina Turner song? What is your simply the best? What
is your favorite Proud Mary or I Love? What's love
got to do with it? There's so many of them?

(07:43):
This is gonna be a joyous question today. We don't
normally do questions when somebody has passed because it's not
the moment to ask. But I think this is the
perfect question today because it will make us all think
about that marvelous music that will always have thanks to Tina.

At facebook page is Naughty Gossip and be sure to
check that. It' to moro to hear your results. Hey Loopy,
what are you working on that?

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Let's talk about Prince Harry Megan Markle Police So their
publicists slamming allegations about their card chase being a pr stunt. Okay, So,
A rep for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said
they were involved in a two hour card chase with
the paparazzi. Please they're spokesperson's addressing claims now that the

(08:33):
incident was for pr rob The rep said, quote, respectfully,
considering the Duke's family history, one would have to think
nothing of the couple or anybody associated with them to
believe this was any sort of pr stunt. Now, the
REP was referring to the death, of course, of Harry's mother,
Princess Diana, who was killed in a nineteen ninety seven

(08:55):
car crash, and the REP added, quote, Frankly, I think
that's abhorrent.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Hmm, what do you think. It's a strong statement. But
let's remember it was the REP that initially told us
about the two hour car chase, so it's a different rep.
But these two reps need to get together and talk
about this, and I would argue they should probably stop
talking about it. To put out a statement that they
were in a two hour near catastrophic that's there were

(09:24):
not mine for them to put that out, and it
clearly that was not true. It might have been chaotic,
it might have been very triggering. I'm sure it was.
I have a lot of empathy for Prince Harry, for
Prince William, what happened with their mom that tragedy. I
certainly can understand that. But for them, the REP, to
put out that statement, they caused all this drama and

(09:46):
now it's Harry and Meghan who have to live with
it because now people will doubt what they say. Can
we believe them? This clearly wasn't catastrophic, It clearly wasn't
two hours. So for another rep within the same company
to put out this statement really telling us all off
is for me just not the smartest, wisest move. And

(10:10):
I wouldn't if I was the rep bring up the
words pr stunt. I didn't say that. I don't know
anyone that said that. You said it, and now you've
put it into my mind like the rep is doing
such disservice. Harry Meghan, if you listen and alone, I
don't want to see anybody lose their jobs. I really don't.
But you need better representation. This is just a self

(10:34):
inflicted disaster that you created. After the incident at the
Zigfeld Theater, you could have put out a statement saying
it was very chaotic and it was very upsetting and
we felt like we were being hunted, and that would
have been totally truthful, totally appropriate, and really very devastating.

(10:55):
It would have made us all really think about the
paparazzi and how we cover this couple. To put out
a statement that they were in a near catastrophic car crash,
particularly because of what happened to his mom, that is
just a place they should never ever go unless it's
one hundred percent true. And I think we can all

(11:17):
agree that isn't the case.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
I can yes, I could agree with that, Rob, And
I think you know me and you. We live in
New York City. We swear around high profile people. The
paparazzi are there, but they're not They're not that aggressive,
and I would imagine many people have gone through annoyances
like a paparazzi following them in the car or walking
to the store, but they don't release statements about it.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Just move on with moving every time something bad happens,
you don't have to release a statement. I've got the
wrong order at Starbus yesterday. I only release a statement.
And I've seen you be more aggressive at a sample
sale at Bloomingdale's. Talk about aggressive. If you want that
fiery jacket for out of the way, I'm going to Galloway.
New Yorkers are aggressive, and so if you're not from

(12:02):
New York. I can see that being something that is
quite shocking to people, but putting out such an inflammatory statement,
they did not serve you well. I'm really letting Harry
and Meghan off the hook here because I'm blaming their
pr But they work for Harry and Meghan, and I
think Harry and Meghan now have to sit down and say,

(12:23):
we need new representation and we need new security. I
do not know any security guard who would take them
out of a safe car where you know the driver
and put them into a yellow taxi. I just don't
know anybody that would do that, any security guard.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
I mean, none of it makes sense. The story is
it's kind of like Jossy Smollette when he was complaining
about being attacked in the polar of Vortex in the
whole city of Chicago's like that didn't happen. When I
read the story, I mean, the mayor of New York
City came out and said, mmmm, maybe.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
Basically the police basically called them liars. It's crazy, crazy,
Moving along, Black Blake Shelton has finally said goodbye to
the voice. He's been there since day or not a
dry eye in the house. It was a beautiful sender
for him. He ultimately didn't win this season. I think
a lot of people thought he would win the very
last season. He didn't. But he's got nine wins, so

(13:15):
it's all okay. There he's walking away and he said
he's not coming back. They brought Aback a lot of
the old old hosts, the old celebrities to say goodbye,
including his body Adam Levine, which I really enjoyed. But
I'm not sure they're as close as they make out,
because when they're not on TV, they never hang out.
I don't think Adam even went to his wedding.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
I don't think he was invaded.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
He was not invited. So I think this fake romance.
I sort of. It doesn't feel quite as legit anymore.
But I think I will miss Blake. I think Reba's
a good choice. Do you watch this show? Who's your
favorite judge?

Speaker 2 (13:51):
You know? I was thinking about this rub at one point,
maybe two years ago. We were talking about Blake every
single day, every day, Blake and Gwen and Gwen and Blake.
I don't care anymore about Blake, and I don't think
i'll care about Ribert. I like Rubert, but I'm not gonna.
I'm not watching to see Rebert.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
Yeah, it feels to me, I mean the ratings are
still good ish. It feels to me as if it's
sort of coming to an end. It's bubbling under the
surface now and we're not so into it any anymore.
But Blake happy retirement, like maybe you're going to live
in Switzerland and have this amazing life like a team that.
I don't think that's going to happen. I think he's

(14:28):
going to go on tour. It's tricky though, now, because
I think he's more famous for the voice than his music.
So he's got to put out some really good music
if he wants to sell those concert tickets. Unless he
has a red chest spinning around on the stage at
Madison Square Garden, I think he's got to put out
some really, really really good music. He could. He's very talented.
I was once on The Today Show and he was

(14:50):
filling in for Holder. He was like the host of
the hour. He wasn't a guest. He was the host,
so he interviewed me, which was very bizarre. Wow, there's
something sexy about him, Mark. I know I would. I
I'm shot. I'm admitting it because I was like, Oh,
he's sort of like a lug of a guy to me,
but when you meet him, his hands are like shovels,
you know, big. It's sort of like kind of a

(15:12):
teddy bear. There's something about him. Have you met him?

Speaker 2 (15:15):
No, but I can. I'm visualizing this, like his eyes
seemed striking and his big, big personality in big ways,
But I don't know. I can see it. I can
see it.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
I can see it, but not for you. Okay, let's
take a quick break and we will be right back.
Welcome back to the Naughty but Nice Show. Hey, let's
get to the polls. Thank you very much for that
last show, we talked about Kim Kardashian, who said her
marriage to Kanye West was beautiful, but you can't help

(15:46):
people who don't want to be helped. Do you agree
with Kim? Can you help people who do not want
to be helped? While this is massive, eighty nine percent
said they do agree with Kim. If somebody does want help,
it doesn't matter how much they need it. If they
don't want it, it ain't gonna work.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
No, this is one of my toxic traits actually, is
like I try to fix people, and I try to
like see situations and how I can make it better
even though they don't ask me to, they don't want it,
and then I find myself in like a big mess.
So but I do I get it, Kim, I understand.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
Do Yeah, particularly if gosh, if they're your husband. Yeah, yeah,
you're gonna say it's so complicated. I think I do
this too. I mean I want to try, even if
it falls on deaf ears. Like I give my friends
advice all the time, and often they don't ask for it,
but I do. I do give them advice and I
think it's great advice. But whether or not they listen,
it's up to them. But you do see it, don't

(16:42):
You see people you know, even people you love, who
keep making the same mistake over a day until they
see it themselves. You ain't gonna change it. They don't.
Forget to vote on today's Paul, go to war Twitter
page not you know facebook page is not a gossip
and be sure back to Morale to hear your results are.

(17:02):
Now it's time for a ninetyst of the day.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Wow, that's a long one. I like that. Today it's
Joe Jonas and he's admitting that he was so jealous
when Nick was hired on The Voice.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
That's big to admit.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
Big to admit So. The thirty three year old explained
that he was at a Fleetwood Mac concert in twenty
nineteen when he learned that his brother Nick had been
hired as the coach on the Voice, and because Joe
had already served as a coach on The Voice Australia,
he felt so jealous that he.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
Cried, oh, he'dn't really done it.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
Yeah, he'd done it, and he said it was bitter sweet.
Of course, I'm super happy for him, but I was
also bumped because I want that a thing.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
Gig, Oh, do you get jealous more?

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Do you feel jealous?

Speaker 1 (17:51):
I hate feeling jealous. I've really really worked hard on
not being a jealous person. I really really have. Ten
years ago, if I was what TV and I'd see
one of my competitors there, I would be like it
ruined my day, particularly if the competitor wasn't as good
as me. Josh, but it used to just drive. It
used to drive, and I knew that I couldn't be

(18:14):
on the show every week or every day. They had
rotating experts for celebrity, godship or news or Royals, but
it still didn't help. My feelings were still like ahh
And I've got really good at it and now I
can celebrate people. I can. I've really learned how to
do this. You can change if you really want to.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
Yes. I mean you're so great, though, Rob, You're one
of my favorite TV personalities from everything you do, and
so I'm happy to see you shine no matter of what.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
Thank you, Darling. Okay, let's do and naughty is to day, naughty, naughty, naughty.
Jennifer Lopez wore a red, hot, ruffled Baxi dress to
reunite with Jennifer Gardener. So j Lo and husband Ben
and their blended family ventured out to watch a school
play staring Ben and Jennifer Gardner's fourteen year old daughter.

(19:04):
Now for the occasion, Jennifer went full glam. Jennifer Gardner
turned up wearing a gray T shirt tucked into some
high waisted jeans so she had her mom jeans on
low peers turned up looking like Lopez. Jennifer, this is

(19:25):
not about you, Jill. It's a high school play. It's
almost she should have ward the Versaci dress. That green dress, Jennifer,
Oh my god, Jennifer. Okay, let's end with a murmur
of rob. You get a rub, you rub, you get
a rub. I love this quote from Oscar Wild. Some
cause happiness wherever they go, Others whenever they go. Get

(19:48):
the difference there. So don't be somebody that causes happiness
when you leave. Be somebody that causes happiness when you arrive.
That is it for today. Thank you so much for listening.
