Speaker 1 (00:06):
NFL Cover zero with Matt Jones and Drew Franklin is
a production of the NFL and iHeart podcast all Right,
another week here NFL Cover zero Matt Jones and Drew
Franklin Ready to go. It is Week eight of the
(00:27):
NFL season. It is a beautiful day where we are
in Kentucky. Drew is wearing his green, I've got on blue,
and you know, sitting here looking at the slate of
games coming this week. Huge spreads, But that doesn't mean
there's not a lot to talk about.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Yeah, any day we get to watch the NFL is
a great Sunday. But you're right, this week good for
you all that are still in the survivor league pool.
Because most of these spreads are as about as big
as you'll see it.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
In a week.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
You should be able to survive in the in the
survivor leagues. I'm you know, we're about to hit the
sports equinox this weekend. Sports equinox. I believe this Sunday
it will be the only day of the year, or
excuse me, be a Monday. It's gonna be Monday, the
only day of the year where all four major sports
(01:16):
will be playing at the same time. Are you excited
about that?
Speaker 4 (01:18):
Very excited? Great day for gambling.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
I like to do parlay with one random thing from
all of the sports involved.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
So it's a good day to get chaotic and consume
as much as you can.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
You like a good Sports Equinox parlay. So what are
you gonna What are you gonna pick? I mean, let's hear.
I'll tell you what. I'm gonna pull up the Monday schedules. Okay,
this was not This isn't on the plan. Billy, our
producer is going crazy because he doesn't have the chirons
for this.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
So let's just go through. We're gonna pick.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
This is gonna be the NFL cover zero parlay Commander's Chiefs.
Chiefs are a twelve and a half point favorite. That'll
be your NFL one. Which one you like?
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:55):
So we were just doing spring I was I get
crazy like Vlad Junior over twenty.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
And a half.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Russia's Comish got example of this schedule head. These spreads
are so big.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
A lot, I'm gonna say the cover. Let's twelve and
a half. Right now, we got to do an NBA one.
I'm just gonna pick the game. You picked the result okay, uh,
seventy six ers at Celtics. Celtics are a four and
a half point favorite at home. No Jason Tatum, also
no Paul George probably who knows about Joey Ombat.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Seventy six ers cover the four and a half. See,
I didn't like that one, all right.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
So we're taking two hours so far. I'm just doing dogs,
all right. So we're taking road teams. Then we're gonna
have Dodgers Blue Jays. This game will be in La.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
I betting against the Dodgers seems crazy. I'm done taking underdogs.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Dodgers Dodgers, Okay, so you're gonna take the Dodgers. So
right now we have Dodgers, Celtics Commanders, and then NHL
h If there's one thing not to bet on, it's
the NHL.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
Only two games, so I'm.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Gonna give you the Blues and the Penguins.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
I don't have enough time in the day to break
down this game as much I'd like to, but I
will say, bretdthole, big Brett hole, guy.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
I gotta go with the Saint Louis Blues.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Saint Louis Blues, all right, So there you go, your
Blues Commanders, seventy six Ers Dodgers parlay. If we win
that on NFL cover zero, I will all of our listeners.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
I will give you a free coupon for wings to
chos Bar and Lexi.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
But see, the conversation we just had is why the
Equinox is so fun. Now you get everything over, you're
skipping over.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
What is a great offer? The wings?
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Yes, I'm saying to you. If we get all of those,
if you get the seventy six Ers, Commanders, Blues, Dodgers parlay,
all of you in America can have five free wings
from Matt Jones at ks Bar. Now some of you
may be like, is it worth me flying from Seattle.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
To do that? The answer is yes absolutely. It will
be my drive if you don't want to fly.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
So five free wings if we get it, but you
have to but well, actually you don't even have to
show you bet it.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
If we just win, it's a celebration. Yeah, if you
come in and name drop this, we know you were listening.
I know you were listening. Perfect, So we will root
that on on the Equinox.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
True Monday night football last night or last week I
guess Monday Lions and Bucks. I watched this game with
my parents. It is always exciting to watch a game.
My parents were in town stayed at my house. I
like watching games with my parents. First of all, we
have long conversations about who's playing, and at least with Larry,
(04:41):
I have to remind him throughout the game who's playing.
So I said, Lions are playing the Bucks and both
of my parents said, where are those places? And I
had to say, well, it's Detroit and Tampa Bay. And
then Larry said, I went to Detroit in nineteen sixty six.
(05:03):
And I said, so, does that mean you're for Detroit?
And said not necessary, still weighing it out, let me
see the defense. We never got a pick though throughout
the game. So he went to Detroit in nineteen sixty six,
But that didn't mean he was going to commit to him.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
But what you did Monday Night's example of how family fun.
You don't have to know the rosters.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
You can sit down and enjoy Monday night football, maybe
two Monday Night football as if you're interested. Yes.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
And my mom also there was a play where I
don't remember what happened, but she just looked at me
and goes, well, that doesn't seem fair. I think one
person pulled down the other one and there was no flag.
My mom said that didn't seem fair. So I like
watching sports with my parents. They're not the biggest sports fans,
and you get like a different perspective on the games.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Well, they picked a good matchup to watch. I was
really excited to watch that game. The outcome. Wanted it
to be a little closer, but for a Monday night game,
getting the two NFC contenders, it's still a lot of fun.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
Detroit, though, dominated the game.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
I mean, that was one of those you know, I
think people slept on Detroit because they got crushed in
the first week. We always tend to give too much
emphasis to what happens in week one. But Detroit look
like Detroit in that game. And do you now have
them as your favorites in the NFC.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Yeah, I mean it's the one game you mentioned to
start the season where they had question marks. But they've
answered the bell in every game but one since, looking
very good. The Bucks. I've been waiting for them to
take a drop. I'm not gonna call this a big
decline because you're at Detroit, one of the best teams
in the league, but it was the Bucks didn't need
a cooling off because they had been out of their
mind for several weeks, probably playing above what they really are,
(06:40):
even though I still think they're good.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
Do you.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Do you agree with me that Detroit games there's always
at least one person that has painted his bald head
half silver, half blue. They lead the amount of people
in the league in bald heads painted in half colors.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
Costumes, costplay, Detroit's your place cost play. Yeah, it's usually
they have like the do you think it's costplay if
you don't see like the costumes they wear. They got
like the cowardly lion out there and the full lion garb.
I mean, they really get into it. And the best
part is it's not like the young people. It's just people.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
It's the dudes that just left the steel mill to
get into their to their lion's costume for the game.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
I often wonder like when those people are come to
the game, let's say they stop and get gassed, you know,
and they're just wearing a lion's head or their faces painted,
do they have any sort of any ambivalence about their
decision or is it just like this is what we do.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
I think if you're committing to the bit that much
going to a game in public like that, you're fine
walking into McDonald's and picking up your cheeseburger on the
way and just being a part of society, even though
you're dressed like a lion or the big Legion to Doom,
shoulder pads or whatever you have on. I just think
that's part of their their personality.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Yeah, well they went up winning the game. Mike Evans
broke his Uh is it his clavicle? That's right now,
what is a claviical?
Speaker 4 (08:03):
I guess your collar bone? So some why don't they
say collarbone? Well, that's I guess the medical term. Maybe, or.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
That's true that they're not different things. I'm not sure,
but they are the same. So you said a third.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
Term for collarbone.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
Okay, so it's like contusion instead of bruise. Right when
you want to be nerdy, you call it a claff. Well,
you said he's not out for the year though, no,
he said he could come back at the very end
of the year. But for Bucks fans it's not really
good enough.
Speaker 5 (08:33):
We need him to get a thousand yards to break
Jerry Rice's record.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
So it sounds like he's not going to Yeah, it
doesn't sound like it. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
He he was on the field for a while.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
Looked kind of bad. It looks kind of bad. I'm glad.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Honestly, it's only a collar boner, as we medical professionals
call it a clavicle. But if anybody can handle it,
it's Tampa. It feels like they have a million of
these guys, right Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
I'd say if you go back to draft night, they're
real happy with their pick right now, knowing that Mike
Evans is out. They got a young rookie that's been
playing well in his place, but still losing Mike Evans.
It's been a big part of that offense for so long.
It's not a good thing. Todd Bowle said. They're hopeful
he'll be back by the end of the year, but
it's a long term deal.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Are you still Baker Mayfield is the MVP? Or now
are you flirting in another direction? There's a lot of
a lot of possibilities, Mahomes. Daniel Jones is out there
making some noise. I mean, what do you have?
Speaker 4 (09:26):
I think Daniel Jones is my guy. I said this
last week before the odds.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Look up the odds I'd like to see what the
odds would I'm gonna guess Mahomes is still the favorite,
but I would think Daniel Jones is like third now
behind Mahomes and Baker.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
Yeah, I bet Josh Allen's high just because people expect
the Bills to turn it on and he's Josh Allen.
But Daniel Jones needs to be in the conversation. What
this is not a fluky six and one?
Speaker 5 (09:51):
What Mahomes at plus one twenty five, Josh Allen at
plus three sixty, Baker at plus seven hundred, Drake May
at plus eight hundred, Stafford at plus one thousand.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
Where's Daniel Jones?
Speaker 5 (10:03):
I put Daniel Jones about Drake May's twenty five hundred behind.
That's crazy golf and Prescott the best record in football?
Speaker 1 (10:09):
How is he behind Jared Goff Like he's six and one?
They have the best record and they were awful. I
guess people, Well, where's Jonathan Taylor's he on the list?
Speaker 4 (10:20):
He is at plus six thousand behind Sam Dart.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
Between Daniel Jones and Jonathan Taylor, I can can't get
anybody better than twenty five to one.
Speaker 5 (10:31):
You can get Lamar Jackson at plus thirty five hundred,
stop it and come on, and Jonathan Taylor plus six thousand.
Speaker 4 (10:38):
I can't believe you. Okay, let's go through those.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
Josh Allen, I guess if they went out, people want
to give it to Josh Allen Fair.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
Noough, who'd you say was third? Baker plus seven hundred.
I'm okay with that, Drake said, plus seven hundred is
pretty good odds for Baker. Drake May, No, Drake May
does not get to win. No, he's been awesome, He
is not above Daniel Jones.
Speaker 5 (11:00):
Then you have Stafford at plus one thousand, and they
know Golf at plus eighteen hundred.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
No, No, Dak at plus two thousand.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Well, and I actually think Dak has a better case
than some of these other guys. The problem is they're
going to lose too many games for Dak. But if
you're just talking about heist played, I mean, Dak has
a Jared Golf at plus eighteen hundred is criminal.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Daniel Jones has the second highest quarterback rating in the NFL.
It's not like he's just his first Dak. Dak's been insane, Yeah,
but I mean he's on a six win team and
he's doing that he's not turning it over. You can
add in the whole comeback story from leaving New York.
I hate the Colts, but you have to tip your
cap to what they've done and what Daniel Jones done
this they did the voting this week.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
Mahomes would win, but I think Baker or Daniel Jones
would come in second, wouldn't they?
Speaker 4 (11:47):
Yeah? Absolutely, yeah, because Josh.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Allen, you're just assuming the Bills are going to turn
it on and probably went out lose one or two
and being the AFC Championship. But in this moment, Daniel
Jones has answered every test, and then they would have
beaten the Rams if not for the guy not holding
onto the ball at the end zone, they could be
undefeated right now.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
That is amazing to me. I did not watch the
lame game.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
I'm gonna go ahead and tell you even though we
are an official NFL podcast endorsed, Uh, well.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
Can I say that we're endorsed by the NFL.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
I'm looking at the logo, right, I mean they'll say
Roger Goodell we talk a lot and like he's like
he's a huge fan.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Of what we work for. The NFL.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
Yes, I mean this is basically an NFL extension.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
We'll see him at the Christmas party. Coming up from me.
You think, well, yeah, maybe we'll draw Roger to go to.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
The Christmas party. Oh you think they do a sane shake.
We're probably in that.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
I want to get I want to get Jerry Joe.
I have a lot of things I could get him.
But I didn't watch the Seahawks Texas fact. I didn't
watch one play. When I went to bed, I think
it was fourteen to nothing. I woke up and saw
it was like what twenty six nineteen. I'm gonna assume
it was awesome, but I can't even tell you what happened.
(13:01):
Was there anything I missed that mattered?
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Well?
Speaker 4 (13:03):
I made the commitment to stay up and watch it
because because you're in NFL A exactly the football's on
my TV, it takes priority. Okay, once it got to fourteen.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Oh in the first quarter and those olids starting getting heavy,
you know, if it's close game, i'd fight him.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
I might even stand up walk around the house. But
I surrendered to those olids as the game went on.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
And there was also, to be fair, a great base.
I mean it was game seven, Mariners Blue jays. I
mean that's pretty big, and you know gilded age. I
mean there's a lot of things happening that that take precedent.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
There was a viral moment.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
Did you see Jackson Smith and Jigbo when he was
on the bench, like getting beat up by the other
team and the ref kind.
Speaker 4 (13:40):
Of hugs him and just becomes like a shield.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Fir saw that. So why was he getting beat up?
I saw the video and it looked like we all
need a friend. As good as that ref was for
Jackson Smith and Jigbub, why was he getting beat up?
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Typical scrum. I don't know what actually started it. Did
you have the moment that set them? He was on
the other side once you get trapped in there. He
was on the Texas sideline, and you need to get.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
Why was he sitting on the bench?
Speaker 2 (14:03):
He just pushed over the day took an that way,
and then when you're on the other sideline with no.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
Help, all bets are off.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
However, that's when that ref came in above and beyond
the call of dude agree.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
I feel like he didn't have to do that. He's
a neutral party. He could have said Jackson, what happened
to you? I'm over here observing, but like Secret Service
through it just covered it.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
So let's let's let's give the award for best and
worst security. Best security of the week. This referee for
giving the security to Jackson Smith and Jigbuk. Worst security
of the week the louver where the security guards when
they broke in left, which apparently that is the policy.
(14:47):
If you haven't heard, the louver had all the one
hundred and eight million dollars worth of jewels.
Speaker 4 (14:52):
Did you see that? That's what it as. That is
an unbelievable amount.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
But apparently when they broke in, the security guards ran
out the door, not because they were afraid, because that
is the policy at the loop no confrontation, which, as
I said earlier, makes me think, why do you have
a security guard. If it's no confrontation, then what's the
point of them even being in there.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
This is the exact same same situation as the grocery
chain I worked in high school. I won't say it's name,
but they said, if someone's shoplifting, it's not your job
to stop them, let them go, And I thought, well,
as an employee, I kind of feel like I should
do something. Nope, let them go. So maybe it's a louver.
They're like, get out of the way.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
Get to people at banks too, they say, when you involved, yeah,
they just give them the money and go away.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
I actually got in trouble. I saw a shoplifter and
push a whole cart full of meat out. Wasn't like
a little pickpocket thing. And I followed them out and
got their license plate number, and I got in trouble. Oh,
you got in trouble for following them outside because we're
not supposed to get involved. I'm like, well, sorry for
trying to help with the crime here. So I feel
like the louver has, yes, trouble just for going there.
(16:00):
Very adamant about do not get involved at this particular
chain I won't name.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
So the louver has the same policy.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
So what level of getting involved would you do? So,
for instance, let's say somebody came in here and wanted
to steal Drew.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
Please, guys, Billy, would you try to stop them? Yes,
because you Drew. But what would you do. I'd get
in between them and Drew. Robert comes in here to
take Drew, and you would get up and get in between.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
Yes, So you're doing the official His name's Nate Jones,
by the way, you would Nate Jones if they were
trying to steal him.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
Yes, And just like the f I.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
Would run out of the door, like the wove leave.
I would go ahead and leave and they would go no,
would you like to? And I'd be like, my policy.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
It's company policy is non confrontation. You win.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
You can take Drew. Please leave, Mario, but you can
take Drew and then yeah, that's probably what I would do.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
So when it's fight or flight, your fight in your flight.
Definitely fly fighting his ever worked for anyone?
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Well, Billy, I appreciate that you would just lay your
body on me like Nate Jones.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
Aaron Tippins said, you've got to stay in for something
you or you'll fall for anything.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
I'm falling for anything. Same policy at Dick Sporting Goods too.
Must be a big chain thing. Don't stop the shoplifter,
just let them leave. I did one time.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
See many years ago a person at Chipotle smack a
customer for trying to reach into the So Chipotle apparently
is much more.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
Nobody's stealing their jewels.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Yeah, and you would think like a guy was just
trying to reach into the cash register just to take
like what dollars he could get and this woman just
smacked him across the face.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
Loof could use her. Yeah, Nate Jones and that woman
if they were going to the Loof. There's so many jewels.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Pole has a confrontation policy, So Nate Jones would be
a good Chipotle employee. Jackson Smith and Jigbu By the way,
eight hundred and nineteen yards leads the league.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
In receiving Yeah, he's killing him.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Pooka had that lead for a while, but him being
out a little bit, JSN has taken over all.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Right, let's there's some news tidbits. Let's start with Roger Goodell. Today,
he announced that they would not be changing Bad Bunny
at the Super Bowl. The NFL will not reconsider Bad Bunny.
Rogergdeale said, picking Bad Bunny was carefully thought through. I'm
not sure we've ever selected artists where we didn't have
(18:31):
some blowback or criticism. It's pretty hard to do when
you have literally millions of people where confidence is going
to be a great show. It's going to be exciting
and a united moment. Do are you glad that they
said the Bunny will still be there?
Speaker 4 (18:47):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (18:48):
And I think you said something that I completely agree
with about how you can't please everyone because I can't
remember a Super Bowl party where someone's not complaining about
the musical.
Speaker 4 (18:56):
That's true, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Who it is who would be the most universally liked
person to play the Super Bowl. Like if they said, okay,
this person is it, you would hear the fewest complaints.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
We often bring up Dolly as like someone that's very popular,
but in this yeah, so, I'm actually throwing her out,
even though I think she's one of the most likely
is the most unified. Dolly Parton is the most unifyingly
likable person. But I don't think if she comes out
and going I don't know that the people are going
(19:31):
to be rocket.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
So who's who are the hot?
Speaker 1 (19:35):
I mean, well, okay, so who has been the most
universally liked was probably.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Prince Yeah right, also a great But I bet.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
You when they announced Prince there were people like, oh,
like purple that they're wearing that outfit game blouses.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
He's got that little curl.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
It would be so but but but then in hindsight,
everybody loves it.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
But I bet you in the moment that people didn't
necessarily like it, right, yeah, Michael Jackson.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Yeah, but that in hindsight, I don't know if it
would have been universal in the moment though. I mean
that was the ninety one super Bowl where you had
Whitney Houston sing the national anthem and then Michael Jackson.
I mean that's probably the highlight of people going, this
is wonderful, right, But we were also in a war,
and people tend to unify more in a war, so
(20:29):
that might have been part of it too.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
Any name I come up with, I can already think
of it group, so that's gonna complain. Well, I'm running
down the list of the most popular people, and someone
out there would complain.
Speaker 4 (20:38):
About Jennifer Lopez and Shakira was pretty unifying.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
Not for my ex girlfriend. She did not like that
one bit. Yeah, there's nobody. People say, well, you could
have a country artist, but like you got to remember,
you know, sixty percent of America doesn't listen to country
music at all, so like they wouldn't have any idea
who these people.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
Were right now the year that and it messed up
little bit, but they had like Aerosmith, wasn't that the
same as Janet Jackson?
Speaker 2 (21:10):
They had like they had seven different timber, like seven
different kinds of me.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
But they also they tried to do a lot and
they ended up with a wardrobe malfunctions. I mean, you
do have to be you do have to be careful.
I'm for Bad Bunny. Look the you know, there's a
lot of Sometimes people in America think there's only one country, right,
there are other countries and even within this country, like
Bad Bunny is the biggest artist. Normal, how do you
(21:35):
look and say this is the biggest artist in the world.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
We don't want him, so I think it's good.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
Now, I don't know one of his songs at all,
never heard one except the one that whose name I've forgotten,
the one that goes is wrestling entrance music. I hope
he plays that one.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
It was a great intro. Yes, So if he plays
that one, I'll know it.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
But I'm looking forward to it, and I think I
think it would be good if he had little bunnies
jumping around. You know.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Also, I can't name a Bad Bunny song. But instead
of being closed minded, you could use this as an opportunity
to be like, oh, maybe i'll hear what I'll learn,
Maybe I'll see why millions and millions and millions and
millions and millions of people like this.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
Do we know who's doing the national anthem? I have
not heard that.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
You really would have just made make it Lee Greenwood.
The last time I turned the channel during halftime was
to watch the rock Wrestle Mankind on Raw in like
nineteen ninety nine. Did you know they did that?
Speaker 4 (22:36):
I didn't know.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
They had a wrestling match at halftime on They wrestled
in an empty arena and it was it was a
big deal. It was like halftime Slam or something like that.
But they haven't done that in a while.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
Got the Puppy Bowl too. It's just a lot of
options in a living color. One time had a halftime
show too, No, they did. They did live skits during
halftime one time, of course.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
Yeah, but nowadays everybody just consents. The super Bowl is
the one thing that brings us together.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
I'm looking forward to Bad Bundy.
Speaker 4 (23:18):
The super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
They've all The NFL also announced today that the Pro
Bowl activities are now moved to super Bowl Week and
will be part of a super Bowl Week.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
You think that's good, Yeah, the Pro Bowl. They've tried
the different format. They're mixing it up if for whatever reason,
it just doesn't get the eyeballs it should. The NFL
wins that everything it touches, But the Pro Bowl I
think is better off.
Speaker 4 (23:43):
Being paired with the super Bowl that week.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
It's almost like people take a deep breath before the
super Bowl comes around a week later. I like that
they're making it a part of the bigger thing now.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
H Yeah, I do too, And I think that, you know,
I don't know what they do now, do they still?
What is the event is like beach volleyball, Well not volleyball,
that wouldn't make sense.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
They're playing horseshoes. They would. They went flag football recently, so.
Speaker 5 (24:08):
It's been the new format any games, like they try
to hit a target, yeah, skills challenges.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
I do like having it the week of no, I
mean I think, you know, I think that.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
Will make it to where you're more likely to watch
the events than the week after when people have kind
of moved on, right.
Speaker 4 (24:25):
Yeah, and those guys probably love to go on to Hawaii,
in Florida wherever it's been, but you know, being a
part of the bigger festivities.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
I know they'd rather be in the game. But just
the Super Bowl the whole week. Everyone just all media
descends upon it. I just think putting these skills games
and non contact stuff with that is a good idea.
Speaker 4 (24:40):
Now there's some chatter that we might get to go
to the Super Bowl. I'll that you're gonna say, be
in the Pro Bowl, like I'll do some skills challenge.
I have never been to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
It's in Santa Clara, California, which I guess is close
to San Francisco. People put all those cities and act
like they're right next to you. San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland,
Santa Clara, pal Alto. I don't know where any of
them are, but I think there it's out there. If
we go to the Super Bowl, I am volunteering to
(25:10):
the NFL. I'll be the official Pro Bowl reporter. I'll
go to all the activities.
Speaker 4 (25:17):
We'll do recaps on here.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
I'll do the beach volleyball game, and if there's not one,
we'll just play again. Yeah. I feel like I've seen they.
I think they once had a reporter game. Did you
know that? No, I want to say one more time
at the Pro Bowl, they had a reporter game because
Ryan Russillo tore his acl in it.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
I think, okay, definitely completely made up. I can go
with Kyle Brant.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
On the field. Yeah, but I'm excited about it. I
think it's a smart decision. And yet, you know, the
two teams in the Pro Bowl don't or in the
Super Bowl don't get to play. But Kansas are those
guys weren't gonna play anyway. Some news the Jets quarterback.
I know a lot of people are excited about the
O and seven Jets and who's going to be their quarterback.
Aaron Glenn says, no decision has been made whether it
(26:02):
will be, whether it'll be Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor, or
someone else, I like the or someone else.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
Yeah, and their owner kind of came out and defended
Aaron Glenn and basically just back the bus over.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
Justin Fields can.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
Say about Aaron Glenn, we hug each other every day
or something something along those lines.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
It's a lot of hugging. Yeah, And it was a
big vote of confidence for a windless coach. Yeah, which
is good.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
But the situation, it seems they're putting it on Fields
of what's been the problems to this point.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
And Tyron Taylor's now day to day with a knee
injury as of today.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
So oh he is well, then the or someone else
might be. But who would the other person be.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
I don't know who their's third quarterback is. Is there
someone sitting at home going? Could be me? There's some
phones that don't. I think it should be Joe Flacco.
The moment Burrough gets healthy, just get him over there.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
Joe Flacco should be allowed to go from team to team.
He's like all time quarterback for everybody. I would like that.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
They currently don't have a backup on the roster, so
they'll have to Oh it is Joe Flack. I have
someone a phone call, who Shador Sanders? Who is their
third string?
Speaker 5 (27:04):
It's they don't have what I want. They don't have
a third string. They might have one on the side.
They really have to go find somebody. Brady Cook practice squad.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
Who's Brady Cook? Is that the Missouri quarterback who's about
a second year ago?
Speaker 3 (27:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (27:19):
Oh, well, he'd be good. He's an option. I'd like
to see him. Can't be worse.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
Well, I'm going to bet on the Jets this week
since they maybe since there are people roaming the streets
who might end up being the quarterback Jayden Daniels is
out this week. That's part of the reason that game
against the Chiefs is a twelve and a half point
point spread. When I saw his injury, I thought like
he was. It was bad, bad, you know the way
(27:46):
he went collapse. They're saying it's a hamstring, might just
be out. This might be the only game he's out,
but it looked a lot worse in the moment.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Yeah, primetime game. It is at Kansas City. I mean,
I know they're not going to surrender that one, but
you're probably gonna lose it regardless. But important to get
him back because they had high aspirations after a year ago,
and it's going the wrong direction right now.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
This is a Peyton and Eli game. They're gonna have
to step up. They got a big spread. They got
Marcus Merioda who cut his hair after you made fun
of how wild it was.
Speaker 4 (28:18):
Which proves he's listening.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
Still a little gray, but like just for men kind
of what do they call it?
Speaker 4 (28:26):
Blend? Yeah, he got the blend done. He got the blend.
The blend is good.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Do you think he knew there's a chance of million
night football's coming up? He probably saw Jaden's handstring still
not perfect. He thought, I gotta get ready for this
four K TV game coming up.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
The woman that cuts my hair likes to do the blend,
and she sometimes I think she messes around with the blend.
I think she sometimes blends me a little more a
little less. And I've thought it's by how much I'm
I give her a hard time during the thing.
Speaker 4 (28:54):
Well, but I'm nice to her. I get darker hair.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
If I make fun of her because she went on
a date with someone. Then I end up a little
more gray over the course the time. And it's sneaky
because it doesn't start showing itself for like a week
or two, and I'll go, she got me again.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
That's a slippery slope because if you go too far,
we all know the people that we it's like, we
know you had gray hair and now it's jet black.
Like you can go too far?
Speaker 1 (29:20):
No, okay, I don't want to look like George Clooney
in that play, right or uh, Juliemon was dripping Julie
blend is what you got to stick with. Trying to
think who are the best Dodd hair jobs?
Speaker 4 (29:33):
Vince McMahon Man, Carlos Boozer but his was just sharpie,
which I think Marcus Freeman did that last week for
Notre Dame.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
Oh you do, yeah, he got he was accusing Marcus
Freeway a sharpie job.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
He went and got a hat at halftime, and he's
never worn a hat before.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
The Internet spotting somebody told him and said, they're making
the internet.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
It's not me. The Internet was being mean on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
I'm I was just a participant on the Internet and
read yeah, I'm I'm citing other sources, but there is
a belief that he might have over blended on.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
Say, why do you think Karen that cuts my hair?
Speaker 1 (30:08):
I think she's because it's it's never quite the same,
and sometimes she'll have a sly look on her face.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
It's like, you're gonna pay for this in three weeks.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
I've worried every time I get a haircut. Mine is
coming in strong, so I gotta be careful. In the
Mario to jokes, I prepare to be gray in like
two years. It's I'm at that age. It's coming on fast.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
Are you gonna just let it go? Yeah? That is
what it is. You're married, you can do that. Yeah,
But I think I could rock a silver fox if
I had to, you know too, Can you call yourself
a silver fox?
Speaker 2 (30:39):
I guess that is complimenting yourself a little bit, But
I mean, I'm some people run from it.
Speaker 4 (30:43):
They think their life's over. If my hair turns gray,
it's great, let's love. Life's not over. But some people
freak out over a gray hair. Whatever. I'm getting old,
Bring it on already, get out of breath, and my
knee's hurt walking up steps. What's a graay hair? I'll
tell you what I tell you. What's a humbly moment?
Speaker 1 (30:58):
This happened, has happened to me when you start getting
gray chest hairs, because like the gray chest hair.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
First of all, who nobody's dying their chest? Will you
blend this Karen?
Speaker 1 (31:11):
Yeah, I've never asked her to do that. That's a
little more intimate than I usually feel with my hairdresser.
But that's a humbling moment when you go, oh, okay,
you're that guy. The clock just keeps turning. That's right,
you're not gonna be able to stop it. All right,
let's move. We're gonna get some news headlines from our guy.
Speaker 4 (31:27):
Billy. You're up to bat. What's your first Yeah?
Speaker 5 (31:30):
We got to start with the drama between Russell Wilson
and Sean Payton.
Speaker 4 (31:33):
Explain this to me because I didn't totally understand it. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (31:36):
So, after the Broncos came back to beat the Giants
last week, Sean Payton was speaking in the postgame press
conference and had a subtle shot at Russell Wilson. He said,
they found a little spark with Jackson Dart. We were
hoping that change would have happened, or would have happened
long after our game. So Russell Wilson, who previously played
in Denver with Sean Payton, I guess Sean Payton doesn't have.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
He is saying that he wishes Russell Wilson was still
the quarterback for when they played last Wait.
Speaker 4 (32:05):
Yes, that's a Brital thing to say.
Speaker 5 (32:08):
Russell Wilson responded on Twitter. He was not subtle, he
said classless. He went on to say, didn't realize you're
still bounty hunting fifteen plus years later through the media.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
Let's ride. Okay.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
So my general reaction is I generally think Russell Wilson
is one of the lamer sports figures of all time.
With that said, I'm kind of with him on this one.
This is your former coach taking a shot at directly
at you.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
I think Russell was fine to clap back, how about you?
I agree?
Speaker 2 (32:43):
And I first saw this on like an Instagram screenshot
and I thought it was fake. I did too, because
I couldn't imagine Russell Wilson do this. I closed Instagram,
went to Russell Wilson's Twitter account and had to make
sure it was really him because I couldn't believe.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
I act like you don't have saved Russell Wilson's Twitter account.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
I mean, do you have to understand danger?
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Russell Drew gets motivational advice from mister unlimited.
Speaker 4 (33:04):
I'm looking in the subway. He has his quotes up
on the mirror. Mister unlimited, tell me what I should do.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
Limited, But of all the people in the NFL, I
would expect this last from Russell Wilson. That tells me
how much he and Sean Payton doesn't get along, because
he seems to have snapped, like Sean Payton got under
his skin enough that he made Russell Wilson.
Speaker 4 (33:27):
Go after all.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
He's not wrong at all, but he's kind of a
nice guy, kind of corny. We've never seen anything really
like this from him, But Sean Payton must get under
his skin that much.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Who do you think is objectively more unlikable Jumpayton?
Speaker 4 (33:41):
Oh really? I said this Wednesday when Sean Payton got
that penalty against the Giants, I wanted them to lose,
just as Sean Payton would have to live with that.
What is it about Sean Payton? You don't lie.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
I'll admit it's more secondhand. It's like right now, if
you search his name, there are other athletes like finally
someone said it then and then of course the bounty
gate thing pre frowned upon back in the day and it.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
Was a long time ago James. But he's just where
they like he was giving back a little price on people,
but they just I guess it's more of just observing
what people are saying. But there are a lot of
people defending Russell Wilson right now, and I just think
that says a lot about Peyton.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
He kind of looks like an eighties movie bully, like
cause he's got that like a snarl on his face,
and he kind of looks like he would talk about
you behind your back. So I get what you're saying.
I just can't believe I'm taking up for Russell Wilson. Now,
with that said, Sean Payton was right. It would have
been better for them had Russell Wilson been the quarterback.
(34:41):
So Sean Payton was telling truth. Aren't we just mad
that he was telling the truth.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
Well, that's another angle of this. Like Sean Payton, it's
not as bad as Russell Wilson probably took it. He's
just saying they should go to Dart. Okay, they went
to Dart and it's been pretty good since. Yeah, So
I mean it's not like he was wrong. I think
Russell just didn't like hearing it, and where it's kind
of revealing more of those two's relationship than what was
actually said.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
It is amazing also though to see, like, you know,
Russell Wilson, when he leaves a place, people say mean things.
You know a lot of his Seattle teammates have kind
of hinted stuff Richard Sherman did famously on that Amazon
game a few years ago.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
Well, they say he has a persona.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
So we are on this one. We are on Sean
Payton's side or no, excuse me, Russell Wilson.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
Yes, because I can't believe someone got Russell Wilson to snap.
Speaker 4 (35:28):
Thanks mister going out in leather. Maybe he snaps more
often than Irillas. Mister unlimited.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
Let's score one for the leather jacket side and Russell Wilson.
Speaker 4 (35:51):
What's next.
Speaker 5 (35:52):
The Baltimore Sun is reporting that after the Ravens fell
to one and five on the season, they have now
removed the player's ping pong table, video game consoles, basketball
hoop and cornhole boards from their locker room.
Speaker 4 (36:03):
Wow, that's a punishment. Nope, ping pong table.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Or video So it's supposed to be like, you all
need to focus on the game.
Speaker 4 (36:10):
It's time to think about football.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
I mean, I get the idea of it, but I
also think it sort of sends a message to your
fans that these guys were too focused on ping pong
and that's why they lost, which I think is probably
a little unfair to them.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
You need to know how much ping pong they're playing.
This seems like they have a severe ping pong problem,
Like how many hours a day is the ping pong
distracting them that you have to pull it out of
the building.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
What are they hoping they'll do instead of the ping pong,
hit each other.
Speaker 4 (36:39):
Study their playbook, build some camaraderie.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Yeah, I think that's a little bit like you know,
we follow Kentucky basketball and somebody will take a picture
of the players like at the movies, and somebody will go, oh,
you should stop watching movies and go be shooting in
the gym, And I'd go, well, don't they get a
movie occasionally? That's kind of how I feel. I mean,
(37:03):
how much you gotta give them a body a break?
Speaker 4 (37:06):
Yeah. I remember one of the basketball players had missed
a free throw in a big tournament game, PJ. Washington.
But then like.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
Six months later he put a video or a picture
up where he went and had dinner with his family,
and they're like, why aren't you shooting free throws?
Speaker 4 (37:18):
It's like, can't the man go eat, stop eating chicken fingers,
shoot you freight dogs? Is that what Ravens fans are
doing now? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (37:28):
I think that's right. Why I'm sorry, I can't do
the firstination anymore.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
Well, you said Cornhill boards.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
I also will note feels like they're not really spending
all that much on entertainment. I mean cornel cornhole boards,
basketball hoop and a ping pong table.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
I mean, I've seen.
Speaker 1 (37:48):
High school workouts that have better facilities than that.
Speaker 2 (37:53):
We're talking about multi millionaires who can do whatever they
want at any given moment, and you're worried they're being
distracted by the Cornhill boards.
Speaker 4 (38:00):
I don't know. I'm not in for it. I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
I think it sends a message to everyone else that
they're just around the facilit a you're doing nothing but
playing these games.
Speaker 4 (38:08):
Yeah, I'm with you. I'm with you on that. What's next?
Speaker 5 (38:11):
We have an interesting Sunday night game this week. Green
Bay is at the Steelers in Pittsburgh and there's been
some issues with the playing surface in Pittsburgh with their
grass field, So Mike Tomlin was asked about it today
and he had a funny response. When asked about the
field conditions, he said, I am not a grass expert.
I ain't cut my grass in a long long time.
I coached football. I'm a stay in my lane. I
(38:34):
don't even know who cuts my grass.
Speaker 4 (38:37):
It's a little out of touch.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
I mean, I understand he hasn't cut his grass, he said,
don't even know who cut my grass. I mean if
I was the guy cutting his grass, I'd be like,
you could at least know my name. Yeah, just completely.
You don't have to act like I'm not a human being.
Speaker 4 (38:49):
Mike.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
My name is Bob Okay, Alan Steelers fan, lifelong. I
tell all my friends I cut your grass. Probably you
cannot just know my name.
Speaker 4 (39:03):
Somebody check on Bob to be taking this hard.
Speaker 2 (39:08):
He's been at the bar calling himself Mike tomlins Gardener
for ten years and no one's believed him.
Speaker 4 (39:13):
And then Mike just completely sabotages, and you know, he's like,
Mike gives me a big bonus.
Speaker 1 (39:18):
Sometimes he invites me in we play ping pong, and
then Mike's like, I know the hell you are.
Speaker 4 (39:27):
Who else does he throw under the bus? There is
a chef? Do they have a name? Oh you should
see what he says about his driver.
Speaker 5 (39:33):
Well, he doesn't throw the fields stadium crew under the bus,
I think.
Speaker 4 (39:36):
But these are they the ones that actually deserve it.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
Probably haven't we been having this problem with Pittsburgh's field
for years?
Speaker 4 (39:43):
Yes? Yeah? Why is it so much harder than everywhere else?
Speaker 1 (39:47):
Like Pittsburgh's not known for having terrible weather, Like, what's
what's the issue?
Speaker 5 (39:52):
I think a lot of it is like the concerts
that they have there around the same time.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
These venues are constantly.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
Used and just out of curiosity. This is based on
any information. Do you have any idea how many concerts
have been at Hinesfield?
Speaker 4 (40:07):
No? No, they filmed a Batman movie though Helicopter Land. Yah.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
You, I mean, I do think it's fair to say that.
If you say with confidence, I think it's because of
the concerts, you should know whether they have any concerts.
Speaker 4 (40:20):
I'm going to assume they've had a couple. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (40:24):
I think the bigger problem is how all of the
groundskeepers still underappreciated that no one knows their name.
Speaker 4 (40:31):
That may be part of it. Pitt plays there as well.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
Could it be that Pitt plays like on Saturday, and
then there's a game Sunday.
Speaker 4 (40:40):
And a concert in between. Forget the Saturday concert. I
don't know that they have a concert that on Saturday night.
Pit at noon, Jelly rolling nine Steelers at one. No
wonder their grass, but they do.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
I feel like this has been an issue now. I
think there was a game a few weeks ago where
I saw where the grass literally was coming up out
of the out of the field. So it feels like
something they got to fix. It is, But then you
have the turf people begging for grass. It's like, who,
what is the perfect field that we can get? Everyone like,
no one likes their field, no matter who they are,
where they are. I prefer grass. It's okay because because
(41:12):
for me, I want to see after attack all. I
want to see guys be dirty. I don't like seeing
the little rubber pellets come up after a play. I
want to see mud and I want to see when
it rains it's.
Speaker 4 (41:24):
Slippery, like that's part of it, right.
Speaker 2 (41:27):
Definitely which NFL coach, We're gonna assume most of them
don't cut their grass. That wasn't breaking news from Mike Tom.
Do you think any of them cut their own grass?
Speaker 1 (41:37):
Dan Campbell with his shirt off, I could I see
Dan waving at the neighbor and a beer. Yeah, I
could say that.
Speaker 4 (41:45):
An hour after the game too, he goes straight home
and cuts the grass.
Speaker 1 (41:48):
I can tell you who has never even seen a
lawnmower is Mike McDade. Mike McDaniel would would run from
any sort of technical person of all. Mike McDaniel probably
lives in a fifteen story a condo bill yeah, right
right down from a restaurant that he goes to every.
Speaker 2 (42:09):
Night, and with those exposed ankles, he could cut himself
trim and the trim and the sidewalk.
Speaker 4 (42:14):
It's true.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
That was one of the things my Larry used to
always say to me, don't wear shorts when you when
you mow, get a stick through you. I don't know
if that's true, but I was always very careful. Ninety
nine degrees. I'd still be wearing jeans out there because
I didn't want to get a stick.
Speaker 4 (42:29):
Through me, not the caprice.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
Uh, all right, So that game Packer Steelers, by the way,
one of only two games this week where both teams
have a winning record. Without looking at your schedule, do
you know the other game besides Packer Steelers where both
teams have a winning record?
Speaker 4 (42:48):
Trying to run through there were so many lopsided spreads.
The only one I'll I'll be impressed if you get this.
I don't have it. You may guess I don't have
it off the top of my head. Bill's Panthers. Yeah,
Panthers are four and three year out now, Bill's Panthers.
Speaker 1 (43:03):
So if I told you there'd be two games teams
have a winning record with Chiefs Commanders on the schedule,
and one of them was Bill's Panthers. Would you have
ever believe that?
Speaker 4 (43:14):
No?
Speaker 2 (43:15):
I mean I knew the Panthers had a winning record.
I did slip my mind run over schedule because it's
their first time being above five hundred and several years,
and it's the you know, Josh Allen Bryce Young showdown
that we've all been Actually maybe not yeah, yeah, maybe
Josh Allen. Unless there's been new news on Bryce Young,
it's still up in the air. We want to match
up for your other game of winning teams. The Red
(43:37):
Rocket is coming back, all right? What's next?
Speaker 4 (43:39):
Two more.
Speaker 5 (43:40):
Denver Broncos linebacker Dre Greenlaw has been suspended one game
after he chased down and verbally threatened a ref after
the game versus the Giants. On Sunday, green Law's one
game suspension was upheld, so he will not be available
to play the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (43:54):
So this what was his beef? I think it goes
back to the past interference in the end zone that
well several plays before.
Speaker 5 (44:01):
Yes, Sean Payton was livid throughout the game on a
lot of things, So I'm not sure if there was
one play or if it was the whole game, but
he chased down the ref aut.
Speaker 4 (44:09):
But they won.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
It was as the field goal goes to the uprights,
he runs to the ref and is just in his face.
But they won, exactly like it.
Speaker 1 (44:16):
I mean, I understand I would have a little more
sympathy if they lost, but they won the game.
Speaker 2 (44:21):
Like dude, Chill and his teammates are celebrating like they're
running onto the field because it just went through the uprights.
Instead of celebrating with them, he's chasing down the referee
to yell at him.
Speaker 1 (44:31):
That's somebody who wants to win an argument too much.
Like you won the game, man, Come on.
Speaker 4 (44:36):
Like, what do you if I'm the ref? Like, what
do you look? Look at the scoreboard? Man? What do
you want from me? Congratulations? I had an argument with
an ax a long time. It is a long time.
It's like ten or twelve years ago.
Speaker 1 (44:47):
And I the person apologized to me. It was like
you're right, I'm wrong, and I just.
Speaker 4 (44:56):
Kept arguing the point.
Speaker 1 (44:59):
And they said they were sorry again, and I just
kept arguing, and finally she said, what would.
Speaker 4 (45:04):
You like me to do? Write a note to your mother?
Speaker 1 (45:10):
And I was like, yes, write a note to my
mom and say you were but there comes where you're like, Okay,
that's too much.
Speaker 4 (45:20):
What else do you want to do? You won the game.
Speaker 2 (45:22):
Yeah, there's a lot of Broncos fans I saw that
think there's some big conspiracy against them.
Speaker 1 (45:26):
I always love that. Why wouldn't there be a conspiracy
against the Broncos? The giant who would hate the Broncos?
Speaker 2 (45:32):
Like like in the League Officer, it's like, well, we
got to make sure the Giants went in Denver. I
don't even know what storyline they would be going for,
but Broncos fans thought the fix was in Dre Greenlaw included.
Speaker 1 (45:42):
My favorite one of those is many years ago, VCU
was in the Final four and I was assigned by
CBS to cover VCU for their game, and I heard
a VCU fans say, those colonial reffs always hate us.
I was like, you really think there's a conspiracy in
the Colonial Conference against VCU. Everybody comes together and goes.
Speaker 4 (46:05):
We cannot let these vc you guys win. It sounds
about like Giants fans right now, in what scenario are
they creating that? What's next?
Speaker 5 (46:15):
Brown's head coach Kevin Stefanski has said that Sanders is
not getting starter reps behind Gabriel. Yes, Sanders, he is
not getting starter reps behind Gabriel.
Speaker 1 (46:27):
This is news, Dylan Gabriel. Yes, you're saying all these
people like you, like like your one name people.
Speaker 5 (46:33):
Well, we're an NFL show. But yeah, I should probably
okay say both. So this is news because when Flacco
was there, DG was constantly getting the starters reps in practice.
But now DG's the starter and Sanders is not getting
any of the starter reps. Stefanski has said, well, it's
different when Joe Flacco is a veteran and there's a
(46:54):
lot to learn.
Speaker 4 (46:55):
I mean, what can DGIF.
Speaker 1 (46:57):
For ass than it is for d G. Understand. I
don't know this is a big story, Dylan Gabriel. I
mean he won last week, right, he's been looking pretty good.
He's got Dore's not gonna play. I don't know during
the season. I'm not sure how much backups get reps anyway.
Speaker 4 (47:17):
Uh so I.
Speaker 1 (47:18):
Don't think this is a big deal. Do you have
any interest in watching Shador play? Like if I told you,
you know, I'd love to see Shador in a game.
Do you care or is it like it doesn't matter?
Speaker 4 (47:29):
A week one?
Speaker 2 (47:30):
Maybe but the more we hear that he doesn't even
get reps and that when Flacco left, they're like, we
have to find someone out there to be behind Gabriel,
it just tells me there's nothing to see.
Speaker 4 (47:40):
I mean, they see him every.
Speaker 2 (47:41):
Day, and if they're not seeing anything, I'm not gonna
get excited to watch it.
Speaker 4 (47:45):
I'm just gonna assume he's not cut out.
Speaker 1 (47:46):
For Dylan Gabriel where to get hurt or get binged.
And then there was a week leading up to a
Browns game, I mean, he would have a lot of
high right, everybody would want to see Shador play in
that moment.
Speaker 2 (47:59):
Yeah, just I guess at this point it's more about
not the excitement of the name, just the expectations. It
just sounds like he doesn't have it at this point.
The Browns at any moment, if you ask about Shador,
they're quick to talk about how he's not really an option.
Speaker 1 (48:11):
Yeah all right, Well, now it's time to make some picks.
And what we do here on this show is it's
time for the Victory Bundle, presented by Liberty Mutual. Each
week we give you three games that we say are
we're gonna pick against the spread. And they will be
your victory bundle, so we do him each week. I'm
(48:33):
gonna go first, Drew. It's the Bears and the Ravens.
The Ravens are a six and a half point favorite
because Lamar is back. I think the Ravens might win
the game, but I think you give me six and
a half with a Bears team that's played well anyway.
Ravens were one and two even when Lamar played, So
(48:54):
I'm gonna go ahead and take the Bears as part
of my victory bundle.
Speaker 4 (48:58):
All right, what's your pick?
Speaker 2 (48:59):
Well, I want to say on that when the schedule
on Monday, when I saw the lines for every game,
the one that jump out of me were your Bears.
I thought that was too many points with the Ravens
team that's been crap. And this is before I even
learned about the ping pong tables and the Cornhill boards
that sad, so I didn't even know that was gonna
be real quick.
Speaker 4 (49:17):
But I really liked that one. All right, So what's yours? Uh?
Speaker 2 (49:20):
You know, I always like fading Tennessee. But that spread
is fourteen and a half points. Fourteen and a half points,
so I'm looking Dallas at Denver, Okay, Dallas A defense
has been a little.
Speaker 4 (49:33):
Improved, there's still a problem, but three and a half
point under. Yeah, that offense has been spectacular, especially last
week with CD back. They are so fun to watch.
I'm not even talking about the running back Williams enough
because Pickens has been so good.
Speaker 2 (49:46):
So I like the Dallas Dallas offense to keep I
can't talk, keep lighting it up and maybe even win
that game in Denver.
Speaker 1 (49:54):
So you're taking Cowboys three and a half? Yes, so
we got Bears plus six and a half, Cowboys plus
(50:14):
three and a half. I'll do the third one for
the bundle. How about Sunday night football. I'm gonna take
the Steelers Aaron Rodgers. You tell me Aaron Rodgers against
his former team. He's getting three and a half at home.
I don't know if they win, but I feel like
they cover the three and a half. So I'm gonna
make this a road dog victory bundle.
Speaker 4 (50:35):
Road dog noise like that it is? I do? I
really like Liberty Mutuals. Let's try that again.
Speaker 1 (50:43):
It's the Liberty Row Mutual road Dog victory bundle.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
No, I'm sure they'll stick with that one. I'll work
on my barking between now and next week. We'll keep
the record for this. You guys were two and one
last week.
Speaker 4 (50:57):
We were that's called being in the green.
Speaker 1 (50:59):
That's kind of a bundle, and so this was the
victory bundle presented by Liberty Mutual. We'll start your quach,
your quote and get your wins with the road Dogs
Libertymutual dot Com.
Speaker 4 (51:14):
Mister Q there, but that's okay on that pick.
Speaker 2 (51:18):
We need one thing to happen, and I love it
with's that the Micah Parsons that was in the fourth
quarter last week can't get near Aaron Rodgers, so the Steelers'
offensive line keep him on his feet.
Speaker 1 (51:28):
It did look like he just turned it up there
at the end.
Speaker 4 (51:33):
Sorry.
Speaker 1 (51:33):
So looking at the games, those are three of our picks.
Let's go quickly Thursday night Vikings and Chargers. Any interest
in that game in LA.
Speaker 4 (51:43):
I have a lot of interest because these are two
teams that are a little below what they thought they'd
be right now. Chargers have to figure out that offensive line.
They're going to get Justin Herbert killed. If you look at.
Speaker 2 (51:52):
The QB pressure stats, hits all of that, he's getting
hit more than about anybody in the league for what
was a contender a month ago. So if they don't
resolve that, they have big time problems. But then Vikings
also their quarterback situation. Yeah, I'm still probably going with
Carson This week. Jets and Bengals. We don't know who
be quarterback, but we.
Speaker 4 (52:13):
Know Flacco is Bacco. Are you excited to go to
see old man?
Speaker 3 (52:17):
I am.
Speaker 4 (52:18):
I didn't think Flacco and Cincinnati would work. I know
it's only been one game, but he does a good
job of saying, where's Jamar Chase. I'll put it in
his chest And that was what a record sixteen catches
last week, so I think that continues.
Speaker 1 (52:29):
Speaking of somebody who does gray blending well is Joe Flacco.
Dolphins and Falcons. We keep thinking Mike McDaniel won't make it.
He's going to Atlanta. They can't get rid of him.
Speaker 4 (52:42):
I'm gonna do a little parley here.
Speaker 2 (52:43):
Falcons destroy them and Mike McDaniel keeps his job another week.
Speaker 4 (52:47):
I know those don't go together, but he keeps defying
the odds. I like it.
Speaker 1 (52:51):
Bill's and Panthers two winning teams. Bills are a seven
and a half point favorite. Any chance that Andy Dalton
does Landy Magic little Red Rocket, if they hear Dockett,
if they do play.
Speaker 4 (53:05):
Well against the Bills, it's gonna be my guy Rico,
not Andy. I of all the big spreads, I think
this one has the chance to get.
Speaker 1 (53:11):
I do too. I like the Bills a lot. Giants
and Eagles do they do? Say the Eagles? Giants make
another one competitive. They've been playing well. I know he
lost last week, but can they Scataboo a close game?
Speaker 4 (53:23):
I think they can.
Speaker 2 (53:24):
I mean they owned Denver until all hell broke loose
with thirty three points in the fourth quarter. I think
they've found something with dark Scataboo got a little swagger
on that team. Maybe they don't beat the Eagles, who
found a new formula on offense last week, but I
think they'll.
Speaker 4 (53:37):
Be in the game.
Speaker 1 (53:38):
Bucks and Saints and this is one where this Saints,
this is ya. This is a sas in New Orleans.
It's four or five Spiro, Chris Myers, Adam march Aletta
are gonna be fighting over who gets to do the game.
You know, the Saints have been competitive week after week.
I mcgahead and say it. This is my Matt Jones.
(54:01):
Get ready, Billy gonna be sad pick of the week.
Saints win you're doing, They're winning Saturday Sunday.
Speaker 2 (54:14):
I'm gonna let you have that one on your own, okay,
but I'm rooting for it, just for the conversations we
can have on that.
Speaker 1 (54:20):
It's gonna happen. And then the Titans are not gonna
beat the Cults. So what are we doing? We don't
and a half points?
Speaker 4 (54:26):
Come on, that's alone.
Speaker 1 (54:28):
All right, It's time for our contest. Let's start with
our Survivor League. Drew has been out for quite some time.
Billy and I still in we are?
Speaker 4 (54:39):
You know?
Speaker 1 (54:40):
I saw they're only down to like eighteen percent of
the people in the Survivor League at the Circa, and
we would still be in it.
Speaker 4 (54:46):
We'd still be in it even though a couple of
weeks off. You don't have to do. We were gonna
win those weeks right now. I did not know that.
Why do you have to get in all the specifics? Oh,
that's just who I am?
Speaker 1 (54:59):
I guess, yeah, why that's why I don't know your name,
just like Mike, because you ruined the party Like Mike
Tomlin's groundskeeper. Who you get to go first. You cannot
pick the Jaguars, the Cardinals, the Bills, the Colts, or
the Chiefs.
Speaker 5 (55:17):
So you got got team management getting a little tricky here.
But I'm going with a team that's red hot right now.
Give me Drake May and the Patriots to beat the
Browns at home. They're six and a half point favorites.
I think they win by double digits.
Speaker 4 (55:30):
Patriots. So you're gonna take the Patriots at home? I
like that one.
Speaker 1 (55:33):
Well, mine's easy. You couldn't pick them because you had
already picked them, but I still can. I'm going to
take the Colts at hot home, fourteen and a half
point favorite against the Titans. I've done pretty well in
this betting against your Titans. I did it last two weeks.
I get to do it again this week. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (55:50):
And I've been betting against my Titans with little money.
That's been profitable too. You know, I'm not gonna say
it's a guarantee, but that's about the closest thing is
a guarantee on the schedule.
Speaker 4 (56:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (56:00):
I like that one quite a bit. Okay, so now
it is time for our touchdown.
Speaker 3 (56:05):
Lee.
Speaker 1 (56:06):
Last week, Billy got it with scataboo. He was able
to get that one. I got DeVante Adams did not
get it. You had Jalen Hurts, Drew did not get it.
So the score now is Billy three, me too, Drew one.
By the looks of it, I get to go first
this week. You know, I love picking the quarterbacks, but
(56:29):
I'm running out since I'm picking the Colts to win.
Then I'll go ahead and pick Jonathan Taylor to take
a touchdown this week against the Titans fourteen and a
half point favorite. I feel like he gets it in
and as a running back, that'll be my pick.
Speaker 4 (56:45):
Drew, you have to pick either a wide receiver or
a quarterback. Who you going.
Speaker 2 (56:51):
Last week was my first time doing quarterback and it
didn't go well when Jalen Hurts didn't run and I
got problems. So I'm gonna go with the receiver. I've
already done, Jamar Chase. If I'm not mistaken, right, you
have yes, give me ce D Lamb.
Speaker 4 (57:06):
Denver.
Speaker 1 (57:07):
Cede Lamb is going to be your pick, and you
will have to live with the consequences. Billy, you have
to pick a quarterback. It looks like you have. You
have not picked a quarterback before, so you can kind
of go, well, no, you've picked.
Speaker 4 (57:24):
Well, hey, Jackson done, jack jar Otherwise you can you
kind of go where you want to go, where you
want to go.
Speaker 5 (57:30):
Yeah, I am going to pick Caleb Williams to score
a rushing touchdown against the worst rushing defense in the league,
the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 1 (57:37):
Caleb Williams. All right, so we do a parlay. You
get Jonathan Taylor, ce d Lamb and Caleb Williams. That
would be your NFL cover zero touchdown parlay. I actually,
Drew think I would.
Speaker 4 (57:50):
Kind of like that.
Speaker 2 (57:51):
I'm doing it right now. I love a good touchdown parlay.
Do him every week. This one seems like a good one. Yeah,
I like it.
Speaker 1 (57:57):
Billy's been surprisingly good at this, even though he picks
more and more obscure players. Caleb Williams though, not a
bad one.
Speaker 4 (58:03):
Oh you should have heard my receiver pick this week?
Who was Kayshawn Bootie. Let me just throw that in.
Speaker 5 (58:11):
You know, that's a fourth pick for you. You throw
a little Who does he play the Patriots?
Speaker 4 (58:15):
He scored three touchdowns last two weeks. Oh yeah, I
know him. He's good. Oh yeah, big fan, I hate
the Patriots so much? Why Bill Simmons.
Speaker 1 (58:26):
Oh okay, I mean, and I like Bill Simmons, but
I don't want the Patriots to win because.
Speaker 4 (58:32):
Of him, because he's too happy, well, just because he
comes in.
Speaker 1 (58:34):
It's like, Drake May's a superstar, and you know, everybody's
always the best player that ever. I mean, like I
hear Blue Cornett's gonna be the next Kareem Abduel Jabbar,
and you're like, come on, man, just give us some
break with this Boston stuff for a minute. And he's
been doing this with Drake May forever. So I've kind
of wanted Drake May to be a bus you know.
(58:55):
I like the guy that does the show with him.
Cousin Sal calls him Drake. Maybe I enjoy that, and
I kind of want them to lose for that reason.
Speaker 2 (59:04):
Drake May Drake Maybe he has been turning it on
to more of it yes here lately though, he's every
week looking better and better. I had no help that
he played in Tennessee last week, but still looking good
he is.
Speaker 1 (59:14):
So I wanted to ask you one question I had
a listener right yet, all right, I'm going to read
you the listener question here. It is Matt, I would
like to know rank all of you, rank the three
stadiums that you would like to visit the most. Okay,
so three stadiums you'd like to visit the most. Now
(59:35):
for me, I'll let you all think, because I've had
a chance, I've been to some stadium so I'm not
going to say I want to visit one that I've
been to. So I've been to Soldier Field, I've been
in the Bengals Stadium, been in the Meadowlands. I've been
to Pittsburgh, and I've been to Green Bay, and I'm
into Kansas City and I've been to Dallas. So I've
been to a lot of the ones that I think
(59:58):
you would you would really want to go to. So
for me, it's going to be fan bases that I
really want to go to. So Number one, I think
it would have been Buffalo. I'd want to go to
a game in Buffalo, experience kind of that whole that
whole vit right, because you don't get to you don't
get to to do that very much. I think oddly.
Number two for me is I'd like to go to
(01:00:20):
a big game in Detroit. Now because with Dan Campbell
that it seems like the crowd gets so loud that
it would actually be a surprising kind of amount of
fun to go.
Speaker 4 (01:00:34):
And then for my.
Speaker 1 (01:00:34):
Third this is a weird pick, but I think the
misery and the sadness would be emanating in the air
that went a way that would be exciting. So I'm
gonna say Cleveland for the third one. Been there because
I would like to kind of feel the pain in
a group setting.
Speaker 4 (01:00:54):
What about you? You just send the dog pound, Oh,
that whole experience. There you go for the mutual bundle.
I've been to Arrowhead, Lambeau, the iconic ones. I've been there.
Speaker 2 (01:01:07):
Yeah, as growing up a Cowboys fan, I haven't seen
Jerry World for football. I've seen it for basketball. You've
been has to be number so number one. I just
never seen the Cowboys in person. And that was my
childhood team. So and my wife's team. She's been wanting
to go. That's like our bucket list. We'll get to
that soon when the next couple of years I'll be there.
We still haven't done it, So that's number one. Number two,
(01:01:27):
I'm joining you on Buffalo. Got to get to Buffalo
really from as much fun as I had Buffalo I'd
have more fun. I just have the Cowboys fandom, So
Buffalo easy.
Speaker 4 (01:01:36):
Number two. Number three, I could go a lot of directions,
but I've never been to Green Back. You have been
to Green Bay, Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2 (01:01:43):
I've been lucky to go to a lot of them,
I think. And it has nothing to do with the stadium.
I'm going Vegas because I would like to combine the
NFL Sunday with Vegas, the Vegas experience.
Speaker 4 (01:01:54):
It's not so much going. It has nothing to do
with the Allegiance Stadium.
Speaker 2 (01:01:57):
Okay, it's more of the Vegas atmosphere combined with the NFL.
Speaker 4 (01:02:01):
Okay, all right, that's a fair enough answer, Billy. What
about you? So I have not been to Lambeau, So
that is number three for me. Green Bay? Could you
count up like you're running a bit? They got to
make it dramatic, Okay.
Speaker 5 (01:02:12):
Number two I think it'd be so Fi just looks
like the pinnacle of technology when it comes to these stadiums.
Speaker 4 (01:02:18):
Well, you're there for kind of the bails and whistles, Yeah, exactly.
And then number one's got to be Santa Clara, San Francisco.
Speaker 1 (01:02:26):
If anybody's listening, see you're doing that to try to
get to go to the super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (01:02:30):
I would love you interesting love that. Yeah, well, yeah
that would be that.
Speaker 1 (01:02:34):
That's probably smart because what if they said to us,
all right, we're gonna send you to a Browns game.
It's for you, guys, will send it to your number
one guys really want to go to a Browns game?
Speaker 4 (01:02:44):
All right, fine, we will to send you to a
Browns game.
Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
It's like the Super Bowl. I've driven by the stadium
in Santa Clara. There weren't a game going on, but
I've at least laid eyeballs on it. So if they
need someone that's experienced to get us to go, I
will help lead us.
Speaker 4 (01:03:00):
To where it is.
Speaker 1 (01:03:01):
Yeah, Santa Clara is also where where Steve Nash went.
Speaker 4 (01:03:05):
To college, right, yep, I didn't know that.
Speaker 1 (01:03:08):
There you go. That's a big reason to send us there.
We can go see Steve next. Did you have any
honorable honorable mentions? Like I almost included Soldier Field. That's
one of the old ones. Never been there, so I
went there last year. You know, I sit in here,
I've forgotten how many of them I've actually been to.
Speaker 4 (01:03:25):
I've been to.
Speaker 1 (01:03:26):
I've been to the Commanders. I've been to the Eagles,
so I mean I've kind of been to a lot,
so not really a lot of the ones. Okay, I mean,
what if the three ones, you would want to go
to Lee Meisson Stadium.
Speaker 4 (01:03:39):
That's Nashville.
Speaker 1 (01:03:39):
No, I've been to that one too. You don't wait,
it's last even though it's your team.
Speaker 2 (01:03:45):
If you've been in that second level and seen that
concrete crack underneath, you.
Speaker 4 (01:03:49):
Think you know what's less. Okay, all right, fair enough.
That's why they're building a new and it needs and
also in need. That's why Miami the number one. I
just feels like it has no atmosphere whatsoever during those games, right,
not a lot of passion. Yeah, it just doesn't feel
like it would be fun. You guys didn't like it.
Speaker 5 (01:04:06):
I want to try the hot tubs in the Jacksonville.
Get me in there with like roteen strangers watching the game.
Speaker 1 (01:04:13):
Yeah, if you want to go look at the pictures
on the website, don't look in person, especially the shot
they show every game, which is the bottom half.
Speaker 4 (01:04:26):
