Speaker 1 (00:06):
NFL Cover zero with Matt Jones and Drew Franklin is
a production of the NFL and iHeart podcast Allan.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
It is week ten NFL Cover zero podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
I am coming to you from parts unknown in the
Northeast and Drew is in Lexington, as is Billy. We
are getting ready midweek on trade deadline week, where a
ton of stuff happened down the stretch and now drew
halfway point of the season. A lot of big names,
a relatively big name, switch switch locations and ready for

(00:49):
another big week after. You know, it feels like the
two or three weeks of kind of a blase schedule.
I think we get back to some big ones this weekend.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Yeah, we got another international game and the trade deadline
just hit. As you said, there were some big surprises there,
some teams trying to win now with some big moves.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
I look forward to breaking down with you.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
It's National Game over zero, NFL International game in Berlin.
Have you ever been to uh? I think the first
time the NFL has ever been in Germany?

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Have you?

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Uh? I don't think you've never been to Germany? Am
I correct? I've never done Germany?

Speaker 3 (01:24):
UH done Ireland and parts of uh, just Liverpool, Manchester,
but never got over to Germany.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Those were Germany.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Uh Berlin known for its night clubs and its party scene,
which I know would be of you know, huge impact
to to all of us. It was the The Germans
really liked the what is it the European when they
did the your NFL of Europe or NFL Europe. So
I think they'll actually get a big crowd over there.

(01:51):
And they gave them I know they gave them Falcons Colts.
That's not a terrible game. Probably on paper didn't look
like as good a game as it'll be when.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
They actually get over there.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
They get a little Daniel Jones and what is actually
kind of an important game for the Colts.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
So do you think Germany will be excited sprecking Ze
Deutsch as they get ready to watch Daniel Jones versus
Michael Pennix.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
I think they'll be very excited. If you were asking
them about this game in June, they're probably more excited
about seeing the Falcons than the Colts. But that is
flipped and yeah, I'm sure tho wuld be excited to
get a football game. I saw Michigan Football today canceled
their Berlin game. So one game has been taken away
from Germany, but the NFL is still showing up and
playing one this Sunday.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
I thought that was a weird game Michigan was playing
over there anyway. It was Michigan versus Western Michigan, and
they were going all the way to Germany. That seemed
like a little out of the way. I can't believe
there are that many Western Michigan fans that would have
been in Berlin, so I guess they were just assuming
that all the Wolverines would go all the way to Berlin.
I remember when they scheduled that. I thought that was

(02:54):
a really bizarre game, so it makes sense that it's gone.
I spent a lot of time in Germany last year
during the European Soccer Championships. I'm gonna go ahead and say
this may offend people as a country.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
The worst food on planet Earth is in Germany.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
In terms of like, if you're talking about a nation's cuisine,
it is the it's the worst. What do you call
those the Wiener stencils or whatever, the you know, I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Everything is friid. It's all got big, big sausage and
it's just it's not good.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
And if you I mean, I guess if you like beer.
I'm not a big beer guy. Germany's positive for that,
but in terms of food, your heart clogs the moment
you get there. And I'm not really a German food guy.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
I could put away some beer krout in Franks, but
I'm more interested in seeing if we can any nightclub
troubles from these teams. I don't know what kind of
party animals are on these rosters. I don't know them personally,
but anytime you get games like this, we even't saw
it happened, I guess in London earlier this year. Sometimes
some guys can can find some trouble or was it Ireland.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
The most exclusive nightclubs in the world are in Berlin.
Like you have to be apparently you have to be
insanely attractive to even get in. People will come for
like come and over and over and just try to
get in and look as hot as they can. So
I think it would be funny if the NFL had
sent us for the three of us to just try

(04:21):
to get into the clubs and like, see, could the
three of us get into one of Berlin's hottest nightclubs?
Now I would want to leave as soon as we
got there because it would be too loud and it
goes all night long.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
But I would just like to be able to say
that I got into one of Berlin's hottest clubs.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Well, I don't know that Daniel Jones and Kirk Cousins
will be skipping the line. Either let Daniel Jones or Kirk.
I don't know if those are two guys that'll be
checking out at Clubstek. So maybe these are the teams
to send over to Berlin.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
That's like Daniel Jones would get in if Danny Dimes
doesn't get in, I don't know. They the Berlin nightclub scene,
you gotta read about it sometimes.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
I mean, it's it's a whole it's a whole thing.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
But I hope they have success in their first NFL
game and it'll give me something to wake up to
on Sunday morning.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
I can guarantee you this. The scores will be going
into halftime like nine to six.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
That's gonna be what the score is it'll be. It
will be a depressingly low scoring game going at a
half time. My prediction is whatever the first half under is,
Drew take it and.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
I will be locked in. I love the early morning games.
I'll probably have the same game parlay and will enjoy
getting started right and when I wake up.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
That's the best part of all these Yeah, yeah, the
day John Robinson.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Though you do get you do get many of the
two best running backs in the league. So I mean,
if they for for for for a you know, London
Ner ck, it's not London and Berlin game. To get
the two best running backs in the league is good.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Now. A lot of.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Stuff in the news, but I think the biggest story
of the week is that the Jets basically broke down
their entire team. Uh three defenders let go, including Sauce,
Guard Gardner, Quinn Williams. They are essentially acknowledging a massive rebuild.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
It looked to me like.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
And the Sauce, Gardener and the Williams. They got huge value.
Two first round picks in one of them a first
and a second round pick in the next one. They're
gonna end up with this year two first rounders and
two second rounders, and then the year after three first rounders.
Out of this, you know, it stinks for the Jets
in the sense that if you're a Jets fan, you've

(06:26):
now lost your identity what was probably a top five defense,
but it was a top five defense that had you
going one in seven anyway, So it feels like to me,
it's probably the right choice in there. But it's a
complete and total rebuild for the Jets.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Yeah, Quinn Williams and Sauce Gardner two elite players, a
defensive tackle and cornerback. You had to go get something
for them because obviously you're not gonna get wins anytime soon,
and they're both in their prime, Sauce being a little
bit younger. And then on the other end, this shows
the Colts and Cowboys like, you got to win now
because you gave up a lot. These are two very
expensive players and you're kind of counting on your roster

(07:03):
to go out and get a w So they've got
a couple of years to pull this off. I think
the Jets could have won this trade because the Jets
are loading up on picks now. They'll probably waste them
when he gets to that point, but the Cowboys and
Colts need to really take advantage of this right away.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Well.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
And you also, I mean I think you could next
year maybe package those to get up to get the
quarterback you want. I think one of those two years
they're definitely going to take their quarterback. But if you
Aaron Glenn, I think this is like a trade for
job security. You go, well, you traded away all my
good players. How in the world could you fire me?
Just skip over the fact that you went one in seven.

(07:38):
I was shocked, though, at some of the returns. I
mean the Cowboys giving up two first round picks. I
mean they're essentially trading what Michael Parsons for Quinn Williams.
I mean, that's essentially what they're doing. I was just
really surprised by some of the return on them. And

(07:58):
if you're the Jets, you don't want to say, hey,
the Jets made a good deal. But they made a
good deal. It feels like to me they did the Cowboys.
I get why they did it because they have a
great offense. Dak is having maybe his best year, so
you want to go ahead and get help. But their
secondary still has holes. They still have linebacker problems.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
I worry they went on and got this big Shanee piece,
but the secondary pieces around them still aren't good enough.
So even though I'm excited for the Cowboys, I liked
that it happened. I wonder how much he single handle
he could change the position. He's great inside stopping the
run and getting pass rush from the inside, but they
have a lot more problems than just that.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
On that defense. So here's the question for you. Would
you rather be one and seven but living in New
York or be six and two and have to live
in Indianapolis if your Sauce gardener. Which one of those
is the better deal for you? Indianapolis with a winning
record or New York with the losing records. You and
I are both New York guys, we like it.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Would you rather be in Indianapolis eating the pork tenderloin
sandwiches if.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
It's a fresh start and I haven't already been at
either one. Honestly, I'm probably picking the Jets in New York.
But Sauce and quinnin Williams have both given the New
York enough and they still haven't gotten much in return,
So good for them on getting out. But I would
choose a losing team over living Indiana. I'm that selfish.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
I mean, you and I both believe living in in
Indiana would be the worst fate to put on a man,
but nevertheless he's going to do it.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
I think it's interesting the Colts clearly believe they can
win now.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
I mean, you make this trade only if you believe
you are close to winning a championship, and I guess
they do, which is not something I would have thought
that they're there, But I get it. Seize the day
and we'll see if it ends up working out.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Now, Billy, they were.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Bries Hall, Poor Breeze Hall didn't get out though he
wanted traded. Brice had his bags packed and was just
waiting for them to tell him he's out, and then
he's stuck around even tweet them all the positions.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Breece Hall is the one that needs it the most.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
He's the one that can do the least about all
of this as a running back. I mean he he's like,
everybody gets a ticket out except him.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
But I don't know what they were offered.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
But I also understand why why they wouldn't do, because
he's a guy that you want to have on your offense.
But that's tough for Brice Hall. Everybody else gets out
and you don't. Now only there were a lot of
other ones. I'm gonna let you do the headlines this week.
I hope you are mentally prepared to do them. Do
you have some wonderful headlines for us?

Speaker 4 (10:22):
Oh? Yeah, I'm ready to go. And we can start
with trade deadline Day, in which there were eight trades
on that Tuesday alone. It was tied for the second
most on any trade deadline day.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
Eight.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
Yeah, there were a lot of deals. That's not something
that I mean, obviously was the second most. It's not
something you don't even really often hear of a fel
trade deadline day because he's don't they don't do it
like they do uh in other leagues. But we did
have eight and some big names. So besides the Jets,
what did you think, Well, no, that's your cue. That

(10:52):
was your cue to give the next one.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
Yes, that's why you have to like when you're a
news anchor, the producer will say, okay, give the next one.
You have to be ready for that.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
Yeah, here we go. I'm ready. So you know, the
Saints are somebody that has a five cell as well.
They traded their receiver Rashid Sahed to the Seahawks for
a fourth and a fifth round pick. The Bears traded
for a defensive end Joe Tyron schoyanka uh for a
sixth round pick in that one, and no, I'm not

(11:24):
gonna try that one again, but Joe, Joe, what Joe's
going to the Bears. And then the Cowboys weren't done.
They got linebacker Logan Wilson from Cincinnati. And I also
liked Jerry Jones and his secret trade this week. He
didn't announce that they were going to get somebody. He
just said that they had something in the works.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Yeah, well it didn't if it doesn't look like it manifest.
I don't understand why you would trade for anyone for
the Bengals defense. It's the worst defense I've ever seen
in my life, so I don't I'm not saying Logan
Wilson is worth it or not. The Rashid Shaheed is
the is the big one there. With the Seahawks, I
think that's another team Drew that feels like they can
make a move. I don't think you make that deal
unless you feel like you can do something. This year

(12:06):
with Sam Darnold, you know, they lost a couple receivers
in the offseason, so I think this. I actually really
liked that deal for the Seahawks and it also shows
the NFC is wide open. I think we're going to
talk later about the odds for the teams. It's amazing
how many teams that believe they can win it, and
clearly the Seahawks are one of them.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Yeah, Seahawks are kind of like the Colts. I feel
like they they probably didn't expect to be as good
as they are in their quarterback to be having the
season that they're having, so they have to go out
and see if they can capitalize on what they struck
a little gold here with what they've had so far,
so I completely get why they'd go out and do it.
Billy didn't add this, but my Titans tried to do
a fire sale.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
We just don't have a lot of things to sail.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
But we did get rid of Roger McCreery, who was
a second round pick a few years ago.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
But we tried the Jets. Man, what did you get
for Roger McCreery. Did you get something great?

Speaker 4 (12:54):
No?

Speaker 3 (12:54):
Pick? I mean he was fine. He was maybe the
few assets they had on the entire roster they could have.
They could have dealt big Jeff Simmons if they really
want to do something, He's like the only real asset.
But you know, we just we're not even good enough
to do what the Jets are doing. We're at that
point right now.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Yeah, you that's bad.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
You're not even good enough to suck, which is a
very uh that's a difficult position to be in.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
So I all those of all those trades, I think.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
The one that ultimately makes the most difference in the
end is the sauce gardener trade.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
There might be a game where the Colts.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Have a chance in that second, you know, maybe you
get a play in the secondary. I don't think any
of these changed the balance of power at all, but
it is worth watching on Rashihihi because I do. I
think that the NFC is so open. I think the
Rams are the betting favorite right now. And if the
Rams are the betting favorite, then you cannot discount a
Seahawks team where Sam Darnold's looking as good. So I

(13:48):
actually think that was also an important move.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
And so we have the NFC. The Eagles were the
other team that tried to get better. They acquired Jalen
Phillips defensive end from the Dolphins and Jay Alexander the
corner from Baltimore. So they're trying to get.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
They already had a great defense, Like they just continue
to load up Phill like Jay or Alexander played for
ten teams in the last three years. For a guy
that was a lockdown and was part of one team
for so long, I like those editions. I think I
tend to trust the Eagles GM when they make a
decision on a defense, especially on defense, it tends to

(14:23):
work out.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Drew.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
Yeah, he even flirted about going around and getting Micah Parsons.
The Eagles just need to calm down. Your roster's been
good enough. You've won enough drafts in a row. We
all see it. I'm getting a little tired of their
roster getting better. I'm glad they didn't get two carried away,
even though they made a few moves.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Yeah, I was speaking NC. I still like them to
go back to back Super Bowls. Eye that I do
think they lose this year. We'll make our picks in
a little bit. What's next.

Speaker 4 (14:48):
The Arizona Cardinals have officially named Jacoby Burssett their starting quarterback.
Jonathan Gannon went so far to say Brissette would be
the starter even if Murray was healthy.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Kyler, that was an amazing thing for him to do
what a brutal sort of knife in the back to
Kyler Murray. He's hurt, so there's nothing that he like.
He can't play, So all they had to say was
Jacoby Brissett is going to be the starter. But he
went farther. He said, Eh, even if that dude wasn't hurt,
we were bitching him. I kind of wonder if Kyler

(15:20):
Murray's playing in Arizona again. I mean, after you say that,
that is a It was totally unnecessary. I mean, if
you really thought about keeping Brissette as your starter, you
could have just let him play and then if he did,
well say we're rolling with this guy. But to explicitly
on the way out saying look, we were going to

(15:40):
replace him anyway. For me, that's a signal that Kyler
Murray era is ending or has ended in Arizona.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
I actually feel kind of bad for Kyler Murray. Here
he's sending home nursing a foot injury, playing call of duty,
not looking at his playbook. Might have the press conference
on his background noise.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
He might be looking at his playbook. Give me a break.
You don't know if he's looking at his playbook.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
We don't know if he was, if he wasn't, but
he's got the press compet's on in the background, expecting
Brisset to be the starter because he's hurt, but that
the last line was unnecessary. He could just left that out,
that could have stayed internal. He just like, even if
he was healthy, absolutely no way are we going back
to that. So yeah, I think that is the end.
That seemed like he was sending a message that Kyler
just can't get it done here.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
I mean, that's it is. It's a really amazing thing
to do.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
It's like, honey, I'm going on vacation, but even if
I was here, I wouldn't want to see you this week.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
It's it's it's a strong it's a strong statement.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
Is do you think Kyler Murray's days in Arizona after
a comment like that, not just the.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
Comment but also is played, do you think they're done? Yeah?
I think so.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
He said plenty of plenty of opportunities to turn them
into something. What has he been there, like seven seasons?
It just just feels like he's never going to take
that next level as a quarter That next step is
a quarterback.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
Well, my memories of Kyler Murray are always late game,
fourth quarter, him running around barely holding onto the ball,
trying to make a comeback that ends up falling short.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
So I can see why they would move on.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
I will say I thought he was going to ultimately
be better than he ended up being.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
But I do think it's over. I don't think a
coach can say that.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
And then when he gets healthy again, it's an obvious transition.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
What's next? Bit.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
The Seahawks beat the Commanders on Sunday Night Football thirty
eight to fourteen. But during the game, the Seahawks debuted
a new kickoff package, so they had two three hundred
pound defensive linemen on the field up the middle to
stop the kick return. The first time they did it,
they forced a fumble, and the second time they did
it seemed to work pretty well. Seems like they have

(18:01):
a new strategy to stop kickoff returns in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
So remind so, explain to me what this is that
when you say a two defensive linemen, what do you mean?

Speaker 4 (18:09):
So, like in the new kickoff you have players that
are standing until the ball is caught and then they
run after the guy that has the ball. Well, now
Seattle is putting three hundred pound defensive linemen in the
middle of the field as two of the guys that
are going to try to tackle the ball.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
Carrier, and that works.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
But the linemen when we're running full speed down the
field on a kickoff, now you're only running ten or
fifteen yards. But it was funny seeing two three hundred
pound ers on a kickoff.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
Well, if it worked, I mean, I still think with
that with the with the new kickoff there are still
strategies to be found, Drew that we probably don't know
what they are yet, you know. I mean think about
just regular football plays, people that there are new nuances
like the tush push that come and this new kickoff
rule has only really existed for a short pier. So

(19:00):
I think with the new kickoff rule, Drew, there are
a lot of nuances still to be found, you know,
in regular player we football's existed for so long and
they're still finding things like the tush push, et cetera.
The new kickoff rule, it's brand new, so there are
ways to probably game it. It's just a matter of
figuring out what it is. I like teams trying to

(19:22):
see what works. I saw a stat today that eighty
percent of kickoffs are now being returned.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
That to me makes it good.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
I know President Trump is always ranting about how much
he hates the kickoff rule, but I'm a huge advocate.
I mean, it has made a big difference in games.
At the Bears Mingles game I went to, the opening
kickoff was run back, a couple of kickoffs in the
in the interim got to the fifty.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
It made a big difference.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
So I like it, and I think teams are going
to have to continue to figure out though how they
game it.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
I liked it a lot too.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
It took a while, took a while getting used to it,
obviously because it was such a big change. But when
you have a big change like that, you see the
innovation and people trying things. And I love that Seattle
tried this and actually worked, leading to a force fumble.
Now I think eventually maybe teams will see this and
they'll get a little more speed and you can just
avoid the big guys. But what they're trying to do

(20:15):
is now the space is so much more limited. Then
put the big guys in there, and both of them
just blew through a blocker and completely blew up the
entire return schemes, so it at least work once. But
now I think we'll see the return side react to
this and it'll just be a give and take until
it all settles in.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Yeah, I mean, but that's what it's supposed to be, right,
it's supposed to add.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
I mean, here's what I know didn't work where you
kicked it, and I think last year what six percent
or were returned or something that was not interesting. So
this is a lot better than that. I'll take it.
And I actually think it goes really well. And I
like the coats for they're doing the old hockey goalie thing.
Why don't you just put a big fat guy in

(20:54):
the hockey goal and then people won't score. They're like,
let's just put big fat guys in the center of
the field on the kickoff, and then.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
It won't work if you are the kick returner. Though,
it's a little different looking up and there's defensive line'm
been running at you with three hundred pounds on them
in a cornerback coming down the field. I wonder what
kind of hitdspace that puts them in, knowing that they
could get broken in half if one of these guys
caught them at full speed.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
It's different, but you know what, that'll make them be
careful what they do. You do have to be careful.
You might you might get you might get knocked to
the ground.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
So I'm alright with it for everybody. What's next.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
Let's talk a little Mew Mix, the Carolina Panthers podcast
that decided to step away earlier this year, and ever
since then the only Carolina The only thing they've done
is win. They are five and four in the air.
They beat the Packers sixteen to thirteen last week, and
right after the game, Meo Mix announced that they were
going to be coming back, but the next day they
released a statement saying, even though we planned to record

(21:50):
last week before the results against Green Bay, we won't
be recording due to the overwhelming response from former players.
We were just a small, fun podcast since twenty nineteen
and needed a break from all the time we spent
putting the show on. One of those former players I
believe was Jonathan Stewart, who said, woke up with his
heavy on my heart Meow Mixed podcast. Please stay where

(22:12):
y'all at. Be a team player, all right.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
I feel bad for Meal Mix. We've been following the
Meow mixed story all year. I feel bad for him.
All right, so they quit. Then the moment they quit,
the Panthers get good. So then they want to come
back and they get a huge round of people going yes.
But then they have people saying if you come back now,
you're a jinx and it would it would stink if

(22:40):
you had players who you used to follow coming out
and saying stay away. So I feel like meal Mix
can't win for losing. They were not popular, which causes
them to quit. Their decision to stop doing it gets
a lot of attention to where they're popular, so they're like,
we're popular, let's do a podcast, And now they have

(23:01):
to not do it again because people are saying stay away.
I feel like mel Biggs can't do anything right. I'm
sad for mew Mix.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
I think mew Mix needs to recognize that they're responsible
for the Chargers going on this wind streak. And sure,
I'm sure they'd prefer to be putting out episodes and
talking about it, but the sacrifice they made has worked
and they just have to stick with it. Now. Could
they maybe put out a T shirt or something. There's
got to be ways meil Mix can benefit a little bit,

(23:30):
but just from they quit because they weren't popular.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
But now I have said.

Speaker 3 (23:35):
Now Mix a thousand times in the last four weeks,
and everyone else has and they so it's jerking.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
They can't take advantage of it. They're literally getting yelled
at by the general public saying stay away.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
It is.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
It is one of the saddest things to me in
the world. You do this podcast out.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
Of love, something happens where you break through, and finally
a Panthers podcast. I can't even imagine the scenario where
I would listen to a Panther's podcast. I now want
to hear a Panther's podcast, and then Jonathan Stewart's like,
stay away, meow Mix, get out of here, get your
crap out, it's the word. I feel bad for him,

(24:15):
and I'd like to have him on the show, but
they're too big. They don't even answer our messages. We
try to get meow Mixed on. They're not having it.
So but it's a crazy situation, and you're right they
they they're not going to be able to take advantage
of all this attention.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
So I feel bad for Meal Mix.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
And how would you like to be a fan of
a team where the former players are saying get out
of here. That's got to also kind of hurt your pride,
right for some reason something about it. There's former players
because it's not like you think of legends. It's not
like you're like cowboys. Former players speak out against cowboys.

Speaker 3 (24:49):
I have like Jake dellowhem and Carry Collins in my
brain right now, Jonathan Stewart.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
Does Jonathan Stewart.

Speaker 1 (24:55):
Count as a legend, Like he's not even the most
famous guy named John Stewart, Like does he get does
he get to count as a legend?

Speaker 3 (25:03):
And determining this, I think Greg Olsen, Cam Newton, I
think those are your legends, the other guys, I mean,
great former players. But when I heard former players speaking out,
I thought Panthers.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
Like Loui even yeah Louke, Greg Olsen, Cam, maybe even
Jake Delone.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
I don't know if.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
Jonathan Stewart gets to do it. I'm not sure he
gets to, but apparently he did. And now meow Mix
is waiting to get on the side. But you know,
for every fall there will be a return. And when
meow Mix comes out, they will have one listener in me.

Speaker 4 (25:40):
Billy Carolina four and one since Meo Mix canceled the podcast,
So that's unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
Even that that even hurts me, Like they couldn't get
good until they quit.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
It's just a sad story.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
But couldn't they just like imagine they just set up
a tollgate and says meow Mix when I do the podcast,
when I recording, but we're just tailgating. They would be
the most popular people outside the stadium in the home game.
They want to other avenues.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
Like I have in my right mind. I have in
my mind what I think they look like. Here's what
I think they look like. And because I've never seen
their picture, I think they look like two accountants who
put on like cat ears and sit and go and
then go now and then talk about the and talk

(26:26):
about the panthers. That's that's how I like to picture them.
How do you like to picture them?

Speaker 3 (26:31):
I picture them as like actual cat ladies. They're probably
wearing a very old sweater from like the eighties, and
there's you know, there's like those cat play pins that
people putting like you're picturing them like m PR hosts,
but they're talking about the panthers. Yeah, definitely definitely seeing
cat ladies or like furries.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
I don't know if furries are still.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
Don't do that. Don't do that to them. I'm just
telling you what I picture when I hear meal mix.
That's what That's the visual I'm getting. Don't make them
a litter box in elementary schools. Come on, they're they're
They're not They're not like that. I'm strange in NFL franchise.
They are a big time I'm not trying to degrade them.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
They are.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
They are respectable Payanthers fans. What's next, Billy?

Speaker 4 (27:13):
After the Rams beat the Saints thirty four to ten
last week in advance to six and two on the season,
they are now the betting favorite to be the number
one seed in the NFC. The Rams are at plus
three twenty, the Eagles all right plus three fifty, the
Seahawks at plus four seventy five, and the Bucks at
plus five hundred.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Would you say I can get the Eagles.

Speaker 4 (27:31):
For plus three fifty right now?

Speaker 1 (27:33):
See, I think that's a great bet. I mean, I
still think the Eagles are the favorite. I'm surprised the Rams.
I mean, I like the Rams. I think I picked
the Rams in the preseason, so but I think I
picked the Rams where it was like plus six fifty,
and so I have a Rams plus six fifty ticket.
But if I was going to hedge now I would
go ahead and take a plus three fifty Eagles ticket.

(27:54):
And now I've got two shots at it each for
high number. So I really like that, you know, but
it is this is the most open. The Lions I
think still have a shot even though they did not
play well. Again it's Minnesota. I still think Tampa can
do it.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
I mean, this is the most open the NFC's man,
and maybe the most open the whole league has been
for a Super Bowl in a long time.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Actually, maybe you said it, but did you mention the
Lions because I.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
Did that to me, yeah, I did, no ability, no
no ability. When when he was reading the odds.

Speaker 4 (28:26):
So after the four it's Packers at plus seven hundred,
and then the Lions at plus seven fifty, and then
the next.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
Week that's crazy to me. That's crazy to me, the
Lions are plus seven fifty. I mean that's I think
those are all like that. I think plus seven fifty
t is a great bet.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
Yeah, well, when you read off the teams, I was
kind of waiting to see where the Lions would fit
in the pecking order, and we didn't say it.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
I thought, how far down are they?

Speaker 3 (28:50):
You know, I don't think they would win the conference
taking that loss last weekend. But at plus seven fifty,
that doesn't seem like it lines up to me.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
And on the flip side in the AFC, the Bills
are the heavy favorite at plus one fifty, the Colts
are at plus three thirty, and then two teams find
themselves at plus four to fifty, the Patriots and the Broncos.

Speaker 2 (29:09):
What are the Chiefs?

Speaker 4 (29:10):
The Chiefs are plus sixteen hundred.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
No they're not. Are you talking about to be the
one seed or go to the Super Bowl?

Speaker 4 (29:18):
The one seed of the AFC?

Speaker 2 (29:22):
Okay, okay, well that's a different conversation. I thought you
were talking about for the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
All right, Yes, they're Chiefs are not gonna be the
one seed, and yeah, probably the Lions aren't either. Okay,
so that's a different conversation. I still like the Eagles though,
to be the one seed. I still would like that
bad at plus three fifty. But yeah, all right, different conversation.
Sorry I didn't For the Super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (29:46):
Kse is the favorite at plus six hundred along with Buffalo.
Then you have the Rams at plus eight hundred, the
Eagles at plus nine hundred, and the Colts and Lions
at plus nine fifty.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
That is amazing.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
So the Chiefs are plus sixteen hundred to get the
one seed, but still the favorite to win the Super Bowl,
which shows you just how much people Drew believe Patrick
Mahomes when it comes to the postseason.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
And that Owen or excuse me, four and O stat
against the Bills the other favorite right now, and you know,
we just saw it added.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
To the narrative with the Bills win in the regular
season a fifth time.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
Yeah, that's that's a fascinating that's got to be one
of the more fascinating set of numbers back and forth
that we've had in a long time.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
What's that. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (30:41):
Highlighting some of the bigger injuries from Week nine in
the NFL, Tucker Kraft tore his ACL and he is
now out for the year. Joe Alt, the lineman for
the Chargers, had a high ankle sprain and he is
now out for the season. And Jaden Daniels Scott injured
at the end of that Sunday night football game. People
questioning why he was still in the game at that
point of the blowout.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
Shouldn't have been in. Shouldn't been in.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
I give Dame Quinn credit for coming out afterwards and
say and he shouldn't have been in. I mean, it
doesn't do him a lot of good because he's now
out for the year most likely, and the Commanders were
probably done either way. But he shouldn't have been in.
But I do like Drew that he came out and
took responsibility. A lot of coaches don't do that. They say,
we play. Actually gave some respect for him for just

(31:24):
acknowledging that was a mistake.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
Yeah, most coaches, they're not looking in the mirror and
taking the blame for something. It doesn't something as significant
like that. I think it's very rare to hear coach
be like I should not have had him in the game.
A lot of times you'll get an excusive while they're
in or whatever. But that was big on him to
fess up and take the mistake, because that's a big
setback for Jaydon Daniels in a second year.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
You know, the Joe alt one.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
I mean, that's probably the one that's the least sexy name,
but he's been. If you go through the last few years,
when he's been healthy, the Chargers have played well, and
when he's not, they haven't. I think that is a
big loss for them, as is Tucker Kraft. I mean,
all three of those injuries.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
When it comes to the playoffs, though, Joe Alt might
be even bigger than Jadon Daniels and craft Jade Daniels
because the Washington wasn't going to make it.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
So the Joe Alt injury is a big deal, especially
considering how well Justin Herbs played. That one's going to
be and the Chargers offensive line has let him down
at the end of these seasons.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
I kind of wonder if that's about to happen again. Right,
Is that your entire news?

Speaker 4 (32:28):
I have one more. It's more like a personal thing here.
The Bengals a special to you.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
Yeah, it's a crusade of mine. This year in the NFL.
The Bengals, the Bengals, the washel teams coordinators said.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
White team, are you talking about?

Speaker 4 (32:41):
Bingals said that their their special team coordinator had a
press conference and he said that Evan McPherson's fifty four
yard field goal that came up short was with a
quarterback ball, not a kicker ball. Because the field goal
unit came on after the play clock started, the kicking
team had to use the quarterback ball, confirming our theory
that these balls are different the kickers are kicking.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
I was at that game when he came up short.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
I thought to myself, I had this exact thought that
had to be the other ball. Had to because and
I'm going to say again, the NFL has to stop
letting them do this. They can't this moving from kickerball
to regular ball, to me is a huge mistake because
in the moment, the fans and other team may not
even know right. So if you're the defense, you might

(33:29):
choose to put on a field goal block or not
based on whether or not it's the kicker ball or
the quarterback ball. So I when a fifty four yard
field goal in the NFL comes up short, my initial
inclination is going to be And the Bears had one too.
The Bears had one at the end of regulation that
I think was also and it was kiro Central and

(33:50):
he left it short. I think in both circumstances it
was because it was the other ball they got to
get rid of that drew you to have. There's got
to be It's like one ring in Lord of the Rings.
You got to have one ball for all and then
let it be whatever.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
It is.

Speaker 3 (34:05):
Kind of reminds me of the college basketball debate when
they get to the tournament that one's bouncing all out
of control. They have different turnovers. It's like just one ball,
like use the ball. Everyone used the same type of ball.
I did do that.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
You don't get to on match point bringing in a
special tennis serve ball, Like you got to use the
same ball the entire time.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
Yeah, they used to make golf balls that were illegal.
You could hit him a lot farther, you know, Tiger
Woods and out there switching him out of his pocket
when he's in a tournament or anything.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
Now.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
I did have one other takeaway though from Evan McPherson.
I think he was just trying to defend his coach
because people are a little mad that they didn't get
the kicking ball out. It was the Bengals uncertainty that
led to this, But Evan McPherson said, no, it was
a good kick. I give it like a seven out
of ten. My thought is, dude, you're an NFL kicker.
Seven out of ten isn't really something I would confess
that's not that good of an effort. There are probably

(34:56):
a lot of people that can give a seven out
of ten kick.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
But that was his.

Speaker 3 (34:59):
Reasoning for why I left it shore.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
I hope he was just taking one for this is me.

Speaker 1 (35:02):
I don't think kicking is out on a one to
ten scale, or make it or you don't like I
don't think like you know, seven out of ten, you
came up short on a fifty four yarder. What's a
five out of ten? You just kick it thirty yards
like you gotta make it or you don't. I am
this is going to be my crusade in the offseason.

(35:23):
Get rid of the other ball. You do not you
don't get in golf. Take when you're on the green. Okay,
I'm going to put a tennis ball instead of a
golf ball on it.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
You don't get a different thing. I'm very adamantly against
this other ball. If you want to have to kick
a ball, be the regular ball, then do that. But Billy,
you're with me on this.

Speaker 4 (35:42):
I'm with you one thousand percent. This should be our
off season cruse, no doubt.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
Yes, Well it will be expect to see me storm
the office. I'm going to pick it outside of the
NFL offices and I'm going to say make balls equal again.
That's all my sign is going to say. And people
may not know what I mean, but I'm going to
do it either way. All right, let's talk about the
games this week. First of all, on Thursday Night you

(36:09):
get Raiders and Broncos. Raiders are two and six, the
Broncos are seven and two. The Broncos are a nine
and a half point favorite on Thursday night, two West
Coast teams. As a sports bar owner, I just sit
and see Raiders Broncos on Thursday night and go, well,
our bar will be empty for this one. But are
there reasons to what to watch it on Thursday night?

(36:29):
Beyond beyond the fact it's just football?

Speaker 3 (36:34):
Who I'm trying to think of good reasons. You know,
this traditionally has been a good rivalry, but the Raiders
are not good this year. They beat the Patriots in
the first game of the season and it has just
been all bad ever since. I'll be tuned in because
you know, we NFL cover zero. We have to cover
this stuff. But it is not a marquee matchup for
your prime time time slot, and that's on the Raiders end.

(36:55):
They got to be better. Yeah, I mean they're gonna
Boenick's got a chance to go eight and two. I'm
still not sure.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
I think they're good, to be quite frank with you,
they should have lost the game against the Giants. I
mean they probably should be like five and four. Uh,
and they're gonna they'll be eight and two after this game.
You look at their schedule, they got a bunch of
winnable games. I mean they're actually in contention for the
one seed, and they are a team where home field
advantage can.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
Make a big difference because of the altitude. Uh.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
And you know everyone says players get tired when they're there.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
I don't know if I don't know if I always
believe that either.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
But regardless, they'll win this one Thursday night on the
road for Vegas. You know, Pete carrellby asleep by halftime,
So I think there's h I think there's a good chance.
You know, seven o'clock, you'll already have been to show
he's back. When it's when it's open and it's now

(38:02):
time for the victory. Bud Noll presented by Liberty Mutual.
We three games that are picks of the week. By
the way, we won this last week, So if you're
following at home, and I hope you are, you will
be winning money. I'm sitting here looking at this. It's
a tough schedule because, for obvious reasons, a lot of
these games are, you know, close, A lot of these

(38:25):
teams are very closely matched.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
I think I'm gonna go.

Speaker 1 (38:34):
With boy, this is a Looking at these, I don't
love any of these, but I think I'm gonna do.
I think I'm gonna do the Bucks to cover the
two and a half, all right and win against the Patriots.
Drake may has been great, but they've been blessed with
an easy schedule. The Bucks are at home, so give

(38:57):
me Tampa Bay as the first of our Liberty Mutual
Victory Bundle.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
What about you, Drew.

Speaker 3 (39:04):
I was worried you were going to take my There's
a new wide receiver in the NFL that burst onto
the scene last week and his name is Caleb Williams.
And I think the Bears hosting the Giants are going
to show off more of that flashy offense. They're still
riding high from that Loveland touchdown catch.

Speaker 2 (39:21):
That you were there for.

Speaker 3 (39:22):
Giants are going the other way, losing cam Skataboo killed
any motive, momentum and swag that that team has. So
I like your Bears at home against a Giants team
going the wrong direction.

Speaker 1 (39:33):
I've been through this a lot over the years. You
get a big win and then you come back and
you lose a bad game right after it. So I'm
a little concerned about that one. But I like your
I like your hope, I like.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
Your desire, and I like your optimism, So I will
go ahead and take it.

Speaker 1 (39:52):
I'm going to say I think for my next one,
I'm actually gonna do a rare under.

Speaker 2 (39:56):
Are you ready for a rare under? We're gonna love total.

Speaker 1 (39:59):
It's going to take Bucks to cover, You're taking Bears
to cover, and I'm going to do the Lions in
command forty nine and a half. I'm going to go under.
Marcus Mariota is going to be starting for the Commanders.
I think the only chance the Commanders have to win
is to keep the game slow and try to win
it in kind of a ground and pound. Also, I

(40:21):
believe the weather is supposed to be really bad there
in Washington, I'm keeping track of all weather related items
for the NFL this week, so I will take Lions
and Commanders under So you throw those together and that
will be your victory bundle, presented by Liberty Mutual.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
Start your quote at libertymutual dot com.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
Let's look at some of the other games, not worrying
so much about against the spread, etc.

Speaker 2 (40:47):
Jets and Browns. Who's the worst? Who you got?

Speaker 1 (40:49):
Jets lose all their defense. Do you say Cleveland goes
and gets the win?

Speaker 3 (40:54):
Yeah, Cleveland's getting this one. Jets, I'm glad you got
a bunch of draft picks. Enjoy taking the rest of
the year off until the draft next spring. You're not
winning another game. So Browns take this one.

Speaker 1 (41:06):
And forty nine Ers could be for the one seed,
or excuse me, could be for the NFC West and
a contender for the one seed. Forty nine ers schedule
if they win this one, even though they're six and three,
things look really good.

Speaker 2 (41:20):
Rams are four and a half point favorite. Do you like?

Speaker 1 (41:22):
It's a late game on Fox, probably will be the
centerpiece game of that slot.

Speaker 2 (41:27):
Who do you like?

Speaker 3 (41:31):
I kind of want to do the upset? They're not pretty?
Is nud back right, Not that would matter that much
because those two seem to be the identical quarterbacks. I'm
going to say the Rams, but that plus four and
a half is a little high for me on a
forty nine ers team that I don't even like. I
just feel like that spreads pretty big. But I'm gonna
tiptoe into a Rams pick. I think the Rams. This
entire season, the Rams games have seemed sort of oddly

(41:55):
anonymous to me. I don't really remember much about.

Speaker 2 (41:59):
Any of them. I think this is a huge one
for him.

Speaker 1 (42:03):
They are set up as Billy showcased with the odd
to get the one seed. I think if they win
this game, they got a really good chance. These teams
will play again, but they'll play in La. So I
like the Rams to win the game, and I think
it's a good opportunity for them. You know, it's not
that the Rams have a great home field, but the
biggest thing is that they don't have to go to

(42:24):
a home field. If they don't have to go to Philadelphia,
they don't have to go to Detroit, they don't have
to go to Green Bay.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
I think he gives them a lot better shot. Sunday Nights,
the Steelers. In the Chargers Aaron Rodgers, is he bounced
back here and get a win. They still are sitting
five and three.

Speaker 1 (42:41):
I mean, the embarrassing loss of the Packers, notwithstanding beat
the Colts.

Speaker 2 (42:44):
Can he get one in La here?

Speaker 3 (42:48):
I've been a big Chargers believer, but Justin Herbert just
keeps getting absolutely pummeled in that backfield. I'm gonna trust him.
Though they went and they made a last minute trade
to replace Joe Alt. We'll see if that works. But
I'm gonna believe in the Chargers just a little bit longer,
but they're gonna get him if they don't fix that
offensive one.

Speaker 2 (43:09):
This just feels like a game where Aaron Rodgers frustrates
me and gets the win. It's Sunday night football. We're
gonna get to hear some collins Worth moaning. I mean,
these are two of his favorites, right. It's kind of
his og. Aaron Rodgers and his new school Aaron Rodgers
with Justin Herbert. He loves, he loves the way both

(43:31):
those guys play. We're gonna get some Madison beer.

Speaker 1 (43:34):
We're probably gonna get whatever new Aaron Rodgers will say
that with the LA media I'm sure he'll say something
about redistricting or something just to get everybody angry. So
this feels like one where he gets it. So I'm
gonna take the Chargers. Then Monday Night Football Eagles Packers.
This is maybe the best Monday Night game remaining on
the schedule this year. Packers take an embarrassing loss last

(43:56):
week at home to the Panthers. Do they bounce back?
This is the kind of game where I feel like,
if the Packers are going to be a team that
I caret in terms of contending, I think they need
to win it.

Speaker 2 (44:10):
I'm taking the Eagles.

Speaker 3 (44:11):
I know it's a tough place to play. Heck, the
Packers probably want to be wearing green and yellow. They'll
probably find a new alternate uniform that we won't even
recognize me halftime before we realize it's the Packers that
are playing.

Speaker 2 (44:20):
But I'm gonna go with the Eagles.

Speaker 3 (44:22):
I know they had that two game scared a few
weeks ago, but they've corrected things since the offense is
more balanced. AJ Brown's not subtweeting anymore. I think the
Eagles will figured it out and they'll when this one. Yeah,
anytime you don't have aj Brown, subtweeting, that's good. I'm shocked.
I mean, I'm shocked. The Packers are the favorite. Packers
are two and a half point favorite. It's a little

(44:42):
surprising to me, isn't it. You You lose at home
to the Panthers and then you are the and I
think it opened maybe at Eagles being the favor of
the money has all been on the Packers. Let me
go ahead and get that bet in now before the
weekend crowd gets there and bets. It moves the line
a little bit because I agree that's I like the
Eagles here, and if you're gonna give me points, I'll
jump on that.

Speaker 2 (45:02):
Two and a half. I think it opened with I
think it opened with the Eagles being.

Speaker 1 (45:05):
A one and a half point favorite, and it has
already flipped to Packers two and a half, so a
lot of early money. It just surprises me, especially you know,
I still think the Eagles have the most talent.

Speaker 2 (45:17):
They just made this trade a couple of trades.

Speaker 1 (45:19):
I like them. I'm a little bit surprised by that. Now, Billy,
it is we got to do our survivor pool. I'm
sitting here. The amount of attempting to try to understand
my handwriting has gone away, But I'm gonna read you
who I think you've picked.

Speaker 2 (45:35):
I picked. I think you've picked the Patriots, the Jaguars,
the Cardinals, the Bills, the Chargers, the Colts, and the Chiefs.
You get to pick first. You and I are the
only two left now.

Speaker 1 (45:48):
The game that seems the most obvious is Bill's Dolphins.
But you don't get to pick the Bills. So who
are you going to take? In the survivor leak?

Speaker 4 (45:55):
And I'm going with the Seahawks over the Cardinals. Jacoby
Bursett maybe the starter, but he's not getting it done here. Well,
you're going to advance and move on with Seattle and
Sam Darney.

Speaker 2 (46:08):
Boy, I think it's a nerd. That would be a
nerve wracking pick for me on paper at home. But
the Cardinals just they find a way sometimes in these.

Speaker 4 (46:15):
Games divisional opponent I try to stay away from.

Speaker 2 (46:18):
But I try to stay away from that too.

Speaker 1 (46:20):
Although with my pick, I mean, I feel like I
don't have a choice. I think I have to pick
the Bills. I have not picked them yet. They get
the Dolphins. It is on the road, and if you
look historically, the Bills have had some weird problems with
this game in Miami, including when Miami has not been good.
If you remember, Tom Brady did the same thing. He
used to have problems against the Dolphins on the road

(46:41):
even when they weren't good.

Speaker 2 (46:42):
I'm not sure why that is.

Speaker 1 (46:43):
The case, but I'm going to go with the I'm
going to go with the Bills, and so we'll see
if we continue to go on the Survivor League. Do
we know what percentage of people are still left in
their various Survivor leagues around because you and I continue
to remain in this one while Drew sits anonymously and
is not.

Speaker 4 (47:00):
Yeah, I'm not sure a number on most leagues. But
you know, Drew's been out a while at this point.
I mean, he could have started whole another game and
gotten eliminated again.

Speaker 1 (47:08):
It's kind of embarrassing how bad Drew's done if you
think about it.

Speaker 3 (47:12):
No, no, no, I just get to sit here and
sit back and watch you all do this segment. I'm
en joint listing. You don't have to work at all
during it. You could just uh you look at the
other choices.

Speaker 2 (47:24):
The thing is, all these games are even I mean,
I guess you could take the Broncos against the Raiders
on Thursday Night Football, or.

Speaker 4 (47:30):
Carolina you wanted to against the Saints. I mean, I'm all.

Speaker 1 (47:33):
I would never I would never take Carolina against the Saints. Yeah,
I mean the Saints. The Saints are going to win
one of these games against the NFC South. The Saints
are going to beat either of the Panthers or the
Falcons in the coming weeks.

Speaker 2 (47:45):
It just depends on which one it is. Now, we
also have to do our touchdown pool. I'm leading four
to three to one right now, and it looks like, Billy,
you do get to pick first in this one as well.
So what are you going to take?

Speaker 4 (48:01):
Okay, you know it took a lot of heat talking
about JJ McCarthy last week. I am going to be
a believer this week. I'm going to say Justin Jefferson
scores a touchdown. He's only had two all year. I
think he's going to revert back to the mean a
little bit. I think he gets a touchdown and JJ
McCarthy has a big.

Speaker 2 (48:17):
Day, only two all year, and you're pick him.

Speaker 4 (48:20):
Right here, let's do it.

Speaker 2 (48:22):
Wow. I do like your confidence in all these things.

Speaker 1 (48:26):
You you stick with it, and you go with even
odd like players on all of them.

Speaker 2 (48:33):
So that means I got to go with a quarterback
or wide receiver. You know, I've generally enjoyed picking quarterbacks.
I've picked almost all of them. So let me look
here and see.

Speaker 1 (48:44):
I'm going to take one where I think somebody's going
to score a lot of points.

Speaker 2 (48:48):
So, hm, well, I'm going to take a running back.

Speaker 1 (48:56):
I guess if I picked Jonathan Taylor, No, I have,
so I'll take B John Robinson. I think of B
John Robinson scores and they're going to Berlin. Feels like
he will use this as a chance to score a
touchdown in Berlin and get his German flair going. So
give me Bjohn Robinson, which leaves Drew. You have to
pick a quarterback.

Speaker 2 (49:17):
Who do you want?

Speaker 3 (49:19):
I think I've only done a quarterback once before? Did
I do Josh Allen? Have I used Hurts yet? That's
why I'm asking you.

Speaker 2 (49:26):
It looks like you have picked Hurts, but you have
not picked Josh Allen.

Speaker 3 (49:31):
Okay, got him backwards? Then I will do Josh Allen.
I think, yeah, those are the top two options here.
I'll go with Josh Allen.

Speaker 4 (49:38):
I think you guys would be surprised at who the
leading rusher is at the quarterback position this year. It's
Justin Herbert. He has three hundred and five rushing yards
this year.

Speaker 2 (49:46):
Is that right? Because he's running for his life? Yes,
that really is a surprise.

Speaker 1 (49:51):
I wonder what odds you could have gotten on Justin
Herbert being the leading rusher in football at the beginning
of the year for a quarterback you would not have.
You could have gotten a great price on that. So
you got Josh Allen. I'm taking b John Robinson and
Justin Jefferson. That may not look great numbers wise, but
I actually think that's a parlay that could hit.

Speaker 2 (50:09):
We haven't gotten one yet where we've all hit, have we, Billy?

Speaker 1 (50:12):
Not one?

Speaker 4 (50:12):
I mean, Drew's only picked one correct touchdown score, so
it's fuy sure so that.

Speaker 1 (50:16):
That hurts us, the fact that Drew has only, uh
only picked one.

Speaker 2 (50:20):
Well, guys, thank you all very much. I'm looking forward
to the weekend in all the games.

Speaker 1 (50:26):
I hope everybody congrats Drew on keeping all of your
Titans best players.

Speaker 2 (50:31):
Uh so that you we have them my week so
we're not losing big week for the Titans. Oh, this
is a winning, winning within for you.

Speaker 3 (50:39):
This is crazy.

Speaker 2 (50:40):
I love it all right. We will see you guys later.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
