Speaker 1 (00:06):
NFL Covers Zero with Matt Jones and Drew Franklin is
a production of the NFL and iHeart podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
His NFL Comes, he wrote Week ten week Matt Jones
and Drew Franklin. Here on a Sunday.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Night, the Church Steelers are winding down on a Sunday
night football game that hasn't been the most exciting game
in the world, but nevertheless, you know what you can't
have every every day, can't be a blast. There were
some great ones today and Drew and I are to
take care of it. Here, Drew, we had a big weekend.
This is the seventh radio show I've done this weekend

(00:47):
if you count podcasts and radio and a lot of sports,
and you know, some big wins for our teams. We
like Kentucky and they got a big win over Florida,
biggest win since nineteen fifty. So you and I come
into this with a good mood.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Yeah, I'm very excited about that we had our basketball
team win. I even thought earlier today, you know what,
I haven't seen enough sports. I'm gonna go watch UK volleyball.
So I haven't even really seen my house in three days.
But it's been a lot of fun watching our college
team and then the good NFL slate.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Today I watched some of that volleyball. I was with
my friend Jason. We had a long conversation I like
to do. This is what I think older people sometimes do.
We have arguments about things that you could look up
and just get the answer. So we were having a
long argument about what was different about the libero, you know,
the person that wears the different shirt.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
What were the rules that differed?

Speaker 1 (01:38):
And we were very like adamant about each other's position,
and I said, well, if only there was a machine
that you could put in the question and you could
get the answer. And then when we did, I think
the only thing it seems like the little libaro can
they can't spike it. That's it right, The considered the defender,
So they're basically the wearing a shirt saying they're a
second class citizen. This scarlet letter thing they have going

(02:01):
on in volleyball. I'm officially I'm against it. I have
to tell you, yeah, they call them out. They don't
get any special privileges. They have a special hindrance, but
they don't have any special privilege. They have to wear
a different shirt. That just says, they can't be like
everybody else and a.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
Lot of times, you know volleyball, you gotta be very tall.
A lot of times it's the shortest person on the team.
So it's almost like, how can we exclude you as
much as possible?

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Why do they have to explain to me? Why do
they have to wear a different shirt? You got to
acknowledge who they are on the on the court. I
think they are able to go to different areas. There's
something with the rotation to go, well, there's something they
can do in the rotation that others could be.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
We looked up that they could they didn't have to serve,
but how they have to serve too? So I think
we're just I want to say that unless someone can
prove to me otherwise we are scarlet lettering the Liberos
and I am leading off the NFL Cover zero podcast
Drew asking for that to end.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Well, Uh, I went to the match today and I
haven't been in a long time, and I have to
admit within two minutes of being there, I turned to
my neighborhood I don't know and it was like, never
remind me what this.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
So they said that they confusion from my entire section
because it used to be they didn't have to serve,
which I get, but now that they have to serve,
it just seems like to me, you're looking at a
player and going you are not as equal as the
rest of us, and I am against that. So they
can set everybody else up, they're the pastor. I understand
if they could do that without that shirt on, But

(03:28):
it makes them feel better about yourselves.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
I think it should make them feel worse. They have
less ability. All right, let's go to the games. A
lot of weather, a lot of rain out there today.
There was a lot of conditions that to me looked miserable.
My view about when you when it's raining during the
game is there's there's not a lot of joy in

(03:50):
sitting in a penetrating cold rain. But a lot of
fans did that today, especially in the North. Now we're
going to do a couple of games in Florida, where
I guess it wasn't it's cold, But how do you
feel about sitting in the rain and watching games.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Well, I recently fixed my own fireplace, saved myself a
few hundred bucks, so I enjoyed being in the comfort
of my own home. This morning, watching people be miserable
starting GETT nine thirty am through that game and then
on the ones that got slopped in the afternoon.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
But I enjoyed, uh, my usual couch time and watching
everyone else get through it. Where did you learn to
fix a fireplace? Internet? In time? The internet? So you
just didn't find anything on the internet.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
I saw what it was the cost for this man
to come to my house, and I said, you know
what I got YouTube? I learned how did you have
the therma cooler? Didn't even know what a therma? No
therma counter therma? Something doesn't matter?

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Did a good?

Speaker 3 (04:40):
It doesn't matter because the internet knows, so what you're
saying about. You could just have this thing we can
type in what we need to know. And I repaired
moan fire tools? Did that require it? Actually didn't take
a whole lot. I used a like a metal pad
and brushed off my my thermal counter cooler. That's the
that's that signals when the gas is coming out. So

(05:01):
I cleaned that and then I got a little put
in there and got some cobwebs out to make sure
my gas was Because.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
That's like, you didn't fix anything, You just cleaned it.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Well, no, no, this thermo counter cooler thing that I'm
not even sure if that's the right name.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
It needed a lot of it needed cleaning somewhat, It
needed to move a little bit. I mean, you're messing
with gas. If you mess up, I have a house
full of gas. So this was a big project I
took on by myself, and so far I saved.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
My house is still there. You seem proud you. So
you sort of agree with the I mean not to
call you a Marxist, but you agree with the Karl
Marx theory that human beings need to produce things with
their hands to feel good about themselves. You feel like
you fixed your therma cooler and now you feel better
about yoursel.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
Right, save myself three or four hundred bucks. And the
whole point of this was because even in Lexington we
got a little weather today, felt good to just be
on the couch and watch football and be lazy and
watch everyone else suffer.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
I've never fixed anything of any sort, not even a meal,
not a lot I fixed some, so I don't ever
feel that joy of like making something with my hands.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
So this one, in particular, because I literally made fire,
I felt kind of cave managed like.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
I cheered when the flame came on.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
I'm glad that's kind of how the Patriots fell today.
They handsome fire when they beat Tampa Bay in Tampa
it was a cold November rain to quote guns n' roses,
and Drake May was I think for Drake May's skeptics,
or Drake May haters, or people like me who just

(06:39):
generally were hoping for his downfall, today was a rough
day because you could say, well, up until this point,
the schedule hadn't been great, you know, you know, he
got kind of lucky against the Bill whatever, there's no
you can't say anything. Today he went, he was excellent.
He had a little rough start, but after that some
passes that were just as good as you see in

(07:00):
the league, and they get the win.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
And then Mike.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Vrabel he you know, a huge victorian. They've completely turned
this team around. I still don't buy him for the
super Bowl, but just terms of being impressed, this was
the one that kind of I'm now a May believer
thanks to today.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Adding to it is another road win. They're five and
zero on the road. I think it's seven straight wins overall,
and they keep winning their road games. May had a
couple throws today that you know, I'm I'm not gonna
say Pat's fans started seeing Tom, but they weren't not
seeing Tom.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
They are seeing let me tell you something.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
This is why I don't want to like him, because
they're acting like they have Tom Brady again, and I
think they need to slow down. For the Patriots fans
watching this, he's nice. Stop with the Tom Brady stuff.
But with that said, he's still excellent. I mean he's
he has been excellent. He has clearly jumped to the
top of the class and right now he's tied with

(07:53):
another quarterback.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
We're going to talk about a little bit.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Matthew Stafford for the MVP in the odds or the
excuse me, the favorite in the odds for the MVP,
and one of.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
His throws came right before the half.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
There's actually the catch Digs made to save him was
even better that fourth down. You know, my boy, Mike Rabel,
he likes to be a little bit of a riverboat gambler.
He had a lot of people say that, by the way,
is the phrase. I don't know that is that has
always been the phrase, You're a riverboat gambler. First of all,
Now gambling is just legal.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Yeah, I did rare. Actually I'm losing on right now
on Sunday night.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
Why is it riverboat? Why was it ever riverboat? Like
there was you can always go to Vegas? Why why
did that become a thing? He's a riverboat gambler.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
We've got a friend who gambles.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
I don't know that he's ever been on a riverboat,
but we call him riverboat rob just because he's a
big gambler.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Probably never even been on any boat, not even a pontoon.
I love that people just use sayings. Okay, so Rabel's
a riverboat gambler.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
But yeah, into the half he uh kind of rolled
the dice a little bit and almost backfired. And I
love rabel gambling, but this one could have been real sloppy,
kind of just milked the clock on the goal line
so that the Bucks couldn't get the ball back. But
then it came down to a fourth and goal a
few yards.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
So let's talk about what he did right there, because
that was a that was a gutsy thing. At the
end of the game. They were losing, weren't they.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
It was the end of the half, end of the
half out of a half, and they were they waited
and essentially just gave up a down, just downed it
on first down, then didn't get in on second and third,
and then went for it.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
So I mean they essentially threw away down. If they
had kicked it on fourth down, you'd have gone, well,
they knew they were gonna.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Get some points. But that was one of the more
gutsy calls I've seen a coach do. To just give
up a down, to waste thirty seconds of clock and
they were down three. I mean, yeah, everyone in the
world would have kicked a field goal and got to
the locker room, tied on the road and been happy.
But he didn't want them to get the ball back.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
It's true, and I just mean even knighting the ball bag,
just going for it on fourth down, down three in
the red zone, I mean, just take your points, you're
playing on the road, just go toide at halftime. But no,
he went for it, and that's the may throw kind
of split the coverage and then digs with a toe
tapping catch.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
That was a great throw. That was a great catch,
That was just excellent. But that is one of the
more gutsy sequences, and if you kind of wonder why Mike,
why Mike Vray Boys riverboat Mike, that would be the root,
that would be the reason he.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
Went forward on a fourth and fifteen with his like
back against his own goal line. Earlier this season he
would do the stuff for the takes.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
So what are we doing? And then when it works,
you're like a revote Michae.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Over here now, Traveon Henderson, who if you if you
play fantasy, which I sort of stopped doing, but I
contemplated doing.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Like say I got kicked out of my league and
so for bad behavior, but you didn't set your lineup.
I think I just got kicked out because people wanted
someone new. It was just over you personality.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
It was well, it was just a group of people
I didn't really know very well.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
I had.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
I had one friend in the league. Okay, you do
need it to be like a group of your boy friend,
but these are not my boy I don't I only
knew one person, so they were probably meeting without you going.
I think there was a league group chat that I
wasn't in. But this year I just didn't get the invite.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
But I was preparing for the draft and everybody was like,
you gotta get Travion Henderson, get Travion Henderson, and he's
been sort of non existent, but then today one hundred
and fifty yards, two touchdowns, you kind of saw what
the hype was about earlier this year.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
And the two touchdowns were long runs, one of them
seventy yarders. So you know, Pats fans are already excited
to have a young Tom Brady at quarterback, and then
with those two big runs that he had today, seeing
rookie to get a little excited to put that with
him too.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
Mike Rainbow after the game stood outside the locker room
and as the Pats ran in, he went NFC South,
NFC South Champs, NFC South, which I sort of listened
to and thought, is he saying they just won the
NFC South.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Mike, you don't get to take the trophy from him.
I think that's what he thought.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
I think he thought it was like imperialism, you get
to take what is theirs. But apparently he said later
he meant, you just beat the NFC South Champs, which
I guess, on the one hand, is impressive, but the
NFC South has been kind of universally considered the worst
division for a decade. That would be like going and
you know you're knwingand Patriots, so it would be like

(12:08):
Alabama coming and going Conference USA. Conference's Like. I didn't
think that was I thought that was weird trash talk.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
I saw some Bucks fans took offense to it. Were
you mad, Billy that he was yelling AFC South chair,
NFC South champs?

Speaker 2 (12:20):
Not at all?

Speaker 5 (12:21):
Actually a tip of a cap to Vike Rabel. I mean,
he's showed why he's a great coach today and all
the stuff that he did.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
I was more interested. I'm glad you got that. It
feels like you felt like you wanted to make sure
you said something nice.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
I know he's a great coach.

Speaker 5 (12:32):
I don't know how watches that, but you should name
your peloton after him. I needed to talk about what
Baker said postgame. He said he was fired about his teammates.
He said that they needed to have the fear of
failure in them and they needed to be worried about
letting down their teammates.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
That's Baker said that. Baker said that today. That's odd.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
He doesn't always He doesn't really strike me as a
throw his teammates under the bus guy.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
He's fired up. I guess they were doing the little
things wrong today. Well did he play well? It was okay.
I mean there's a lot of injuries right now for Tampa. Okay,
So does she get injured less? No?

Speaker 5 (13:06):
No, I think it's just attention to detail, okay, messing
things up that they're working.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
I thought you would be upset that there were a
lot of Patriot fans in the Craft that that hurt
and Dave Portnoy being on my TV five six.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
Why did Dave Portnoy and Craft become First of all,
I wonder what Dave Portnoy Kraft talking about. But what
I really wonder it's what Dave Portnoy's girlfriend in Craft's
wife talking because I just would like to see their
conversation because just look at it didn't seem like they
had a lot in common.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
No, maybe they found some middle ground. I guess Bob
Kraft and Dave port On are just slobbering over Drake
May like everyone else, and.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
They should, they should be very happy. But it was
now do you have where do you put them in
the AFC and that they have a good shot at
getting home field advantage, do you think they could. You
think they could win the AFC, I think.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
I mean, they're eight and two and it's not. Their
wins are the power power of NFL.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
The last hard game they have really I mentioned they're
going on the road in these games. That's what's so
impressing to me. Sure some of the opponents haven't been
in the office in the league, but to be five and
zero on the road. I believe they started one and
two of the season and turn on and win the
last seven games. I think you have to respect him.
And that's why Rabel was yelling NFC South to even
get his team the confidence. You know, we even said

(14:22):
they don't feel like a Super Bowl contender, But he's
trying to let him know, you just beat a legit
playoff team on their own field, and he's trying to
get that through their head too.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
This is the rest of their schedule, Jets, Bengals, Giants,
Bill's Ravens, Jets, Dolphins.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
That is really bad. Does the road go through New
England without question?

Speaker 1 (14:41):
I mean, they played the Jets twice, so the Jets
are comming out on a time two game win streak.
So congrats to the Patriots. That was kind of that was
the game of the day. It's not sponsored, so I'm
just going to kind of give a sponsor an indication
of what they could get if they did this.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Okay, let's hear it.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
It is the Cherry Doctor Pepper zero Game.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
Of the Day. Ooh, that's a big I just got that.
You know, I'm a pipsy ro guy, right, I just
had the Doctor Pepper Cherry zero. I'm a fan just
for the wreck.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
Sounds better than this twelve hour old coke I have
that doesn't have ice anymore.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
I'm really struggling to this. They don't recommend you let
coke sit for twelve hours in the open, but you know,
I hope, I hope it works. From lunch and we're
recording a midnight Wow. All right, let's go through.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
Yeah, some other ones, Colt's and the Falcons that started
early this morning in Berlin. You know, Berlin's the night
club capital, as we talked about, so a lot of
people came straight from the nightclubs and they saw Jonathan Taylor,
who had one of the best runs I've seen in
a long time, that run where it looked like he
got stopped at the line of scrimmage and then he
went outside and went all the way down the field.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
To me, that's the run of the year. I don't
think Jonathan Taylor is.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
Gonna win the MVP, but if they were gonna have
a Heisman celebration and they showed the highlight reel, to me,
that would be his highlight of the year. He was
excellent and Colts went on look a lot of games
to steal it. If the Colts who continue to be
are they.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
The story here?

Speaker 3 (16:22):
As most as I hate the Colts. On George White
watching his game right that run was impressive. I actually thought,
you know, Germany, it's their first game and Johnsown doesn't
they're gonna think that's normal.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
What he did absolutely was not. He bounced out of
the pile. He stayed in mountain. People could have for
that long, another three touchdown day for him. Have you
ever watch football game with the European by the way,
Uh No, I don't think so.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
They I mean they have great questions. It's like what
I watched with my mom was a kid. The exactly
question that's the big thing is why do they stop?
And with Jonathan Taylor, they didn't stop, like he just
he kept going on that play. Yeah, they do. Daniel
Jones bled from the mouth. It kind of became an
iconic look. Nobody seemed to tell him.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
No, and it looked like lipstick, Like if you just
turned on the game, it was like perfectly on his lips.
Wasn't on the rest of his face, just right on
his lips, so it looked like he was wearing lipstick.
My wife was turned on the she was walking around.
She's like, wait a minute, why is he allowed to
be in the game, just bleeding from the mask? Like
this question because in basketball, gotta spray it. Get him
out of here, don't let him touch anyone. But it

(17:24):
looked like he was coughing it up there for a moment,
like no, I don't throw the football.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
It seems like it's almost encouraged. Bleed more son. It's
gonna be all right.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
Was it Matt Jones last week? Just bloody face?

Speaker 1 (17:35):
I think that's I think it's just assumed, you know what,
we want our quarterbacks bloody, and that's gonna be. That's
gonna be part of how with because he You're right,
he was bleeding. Even the announcers were like, are one
of his teammates gonna tell him, Hey man, you got
a little blood?

Speaker 2 (17:50):
No, just let it rock.

Speaker 3 (17:51):
If I were him, I'd rock a mouthguard though, because
you know, I'm not a doctor. But he got pushed
into the sideline, hit his head. It looked like he
might have been his tong or his lip, but that
thing was not stopping. And they zoom in on him
right there in the huddle and got of just wonder like,
can we just take him out for a few minutes?
Got figured out or is he gonna bleed everywhere?

Speaker 2 (18:08):
I loved?

Speaker 1 (18:08):
Game went to overtime, which means if the Europeans were
not confused enough by the game, they had to learn
the new overtime rules. Now, listen, both teams will get
the ball, this one gets a field goal, get a
field goal, but then they'll get to go back. But
then remember the time still matters, and they go back
and forth. Everyone gets a chance. Like they had to
learn all that.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
They're probably excited that there could be a tithe of them.
They like ties, They love option, they do love ties. Uh.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
The referee had some problems with the coin flip. I
guess the I guess what I understand. The away team
calls the the coin flip but because they were both
in Berlin, I think he knew neither team was German
and so he couldn't immediately figure out which team was away.
He got the wrong one, so they flipped, and then

(18:57):
they had to reflip. Do you think they should have reflipped?

Speaker 2 (19:01):
Do you think calling it is so important that you reflip.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
I don't think you reflipped. Also, I wondered was it
did they use a German coin?

Speaker 2 (19:10):
Is that a euro? Will they use euro? Maybe we're
used by what did it used to be in deutsch Mark?

Speaker 3 (19:17):
Now it's a Europe So it didn't flip the Deutsche market. No,
another tough look as we're debuting for Germany. But I
don't think they should reflip. It happened, move on, Well
it did. You did get a different result, but it
didn't change the game. I did like though he was
trying to explain what was happening, and he seemed a
little confused. If you go watch the video, he's like,
I flipped, but it was in Uh. I thought we

(19:40):
were in Vietnam, but we are in Germany and the
whole like, he did all this and it reminded me,
did you see the end of the Col Louisville game Saturday.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
No, I did not. I was watching our beloved Cats.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
If Billy was a good editor, I would have him
insert the sound here. But uh, they go to overtime
and Cal or Louisville goes first. They kick a field goal.
Then it's Col's turn and they score a touchdown, so
the game's over. But for some reason, the official just
gets on the microphone and cal is celebrating, running the

(20:10):
running around the field. Knows the game is not over.
Excuse me, game is not over. Stop celebrating. The game
is not over. And then there's a.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Pause and he goes the game is over. He needed
the money. He wasn't ready give him time. Man, he
wasn't ready to call it.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
Do you think he just wanted Do you think he
was so happy with the experience of this Cal Louisville
game he just didn't want it to end yet.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
Or maybe he just wanted to really make sure that
they had scored, kind of like in horse racing, there's
this awkward fee before he goes final. You can't cast
your ticket, Okay, who's waiting for the final results.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Well, if he wants the final play, it was fairly
clearly it was it's not close, but.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
Maybe he's just not processing as quickly as everyone else.
He needed a minute to get that through and call
the game.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
I just thought he was having a great time. He
was like, I don't want this party to end. Yeah,
we're never going to be in this moment together ever again.
Let's walk down here a Louisville. You get to go again.
So the Bears, my Bears came back.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
They were down in the fourth quarter, down two scores
with just eight minutes to go, and Caleb Williams led
a comeback. That's the game I've watched the most about
ten straight years, and instead they won it. Scored twice
down stretch, great drive by Caleb to finish game. They
get the comeback and they win twenty for twenty. The
Giants unforse Pe Jackson Dark Cony Games comes out. Russell Wilson, Well.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
He was good at one time. He has now graduate
this scene.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
Can you ever think of a quarterback in the history
of the NFL who has.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Fallen works the Super Bowl?

Speaker 1 (21:44):
So try to think think anyone's falls precipits from being
an MVP candidate for a Super Bowl winning team to
on one of the worst teams in the league benched
and then when he comes in the other team thinks, no,
now we have a shot.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
Yeah, bench for a rookie. Ye, weren't even sure about
when the pick was in. Yes, fan base was divided. No,
especially not without other circumstances. It's like there was an
injury or something else. No, he just went to a
different team, wasn't good, went to another team seemed to
be worse, to a different team was bad, and then
got significantly worse.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
And also I saw who was it? Scott van Pelt
tweeted out, mister limited. Oh jeez, ouch, I thought that
was one of the mean things I've seen Scott van
Pelt say. Scott van Pelt's a really nice guy, man.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
He just I mean, people's it's like people feel okay
being so mean to Russell Wilson.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
It's everybody gets their jokes off about how he's corny.
But he doesn't like seem like a bad person, like
almost seems like too nice. Well, but he I guess
people think it's bad that he had his own office. Yeah,
well there's a little bit and maybe you think you're
above people.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
Yeah, that you seem to genuinely really dislike him and
on the you know, getting the jokes off. It kind
of seems like anyone that watches the NFL even casually
knows what Russell Wilson's going through. We know that's a
former Super Bowl champion that is now not doing well,
and then they're piling on a little bit.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
It seems I wouldn't expect that of SVP. But a
nice joke, mister Limited. The Giants really gave me the
stat earlier are zero to four this year when they've
led by ten points or more on the road. They've
given up a double digit lead on the road four
times so far this year in nine games.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
Well, you know the one today, then the one comes
to mind in Denver earlier last month with the huge collapse. Yeah,
you got to learn how to finish games. I don't
think it's gonna matter though, because it's they've all could
be fired tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (23:38):
Yeah, I was gonnay, I don't think it matter. You
think they go. It's a shame.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
Scattapo and Dard gave him a little swag for a
few weeks. They had some fun, but I think they
need to move.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
If you're a Giants fan and you were.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
Looking forward to Hey, next week, I get Russell Wilson
in a game. Would you want to buy those tickets?

Speaker 5 (23:57):
No?

Speaker 2 (23:57):
And I think there's gets real tough for me. Let
me read you. They're two and eight. They actually haven't
had their bye week yet, so let's see. I've left
all right?

Speaker 1 (24:04):
They next week or no, they have a buy extas
they go Packers, Lions, Patriots, Commanders, Vikings, Raiders, Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
You want to go on the back end, but that
stretch of Packers, Lions, Patriots, enjoy your own three?

Speaker 1 (24:19):
Yeah, good luck with that. It was snowed a little
bit in this game, which though was not the best
performance in a supporting role by snow Today. Did you
see the Canadian soccer game?

Speaker 2 (24:32):
No, tell me.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
I love abscation, so I'm doing that. I'm not put
on the YouTube TV. I have like seven channels now
because they took all the espns off and FS two
popped up and it said Canadian It said Canadian Premier
League Championship Live. I was like, oh, it's live. Just
take a second, real quick to on your little Twitter

(24:55):
machine google the scene at the Canadian they were having
a blizzard during the game.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
Oh yeah, can't feel actually a picture of the goal.
He is holding a snowshovel. I'm like, that's the header
on this website. On the field with his gloves on it.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
His goalies shoveled the air in front of me and
the other one didn't, which I thought was an interesting strategy.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
I think one of them thought, I need a clear area.
The other one thought, let's muck it up with snow.
I don't know which strategy was best. It was a
lot and it was I think it was Auto versus Calgary.
But it was riveting because it was so snowy. And
there's a play that I think went viral. A guy
did a bicycle kick in the snow, which may be

(25:41):
the most transformational athletic achievement I've ever seen.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
I'm watching a clip right now, the snow coming down
to broadcast. You kind of have to squint just to
see them on the field. It was great and you
would think, okay, that looks miserable. First of all, all
of them still wearing shorts. Nobody thought why don't I
go with pants. They all still went with shorts.

Speaker 1 (26:02):
They got tough it out. Ice was growing on people's
hair right now. It was awesome and I don't know.
Sometimes FS two, I think they only show horse racing
from New York and like French soccer games. But they
have to replay this game and you just need to
watch it.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
It's no offense. In the NFL. It was the most
entertaining event on television today.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
I'm enjoying the clubs. I'm seeing the goalie is now
shoveling out his pass. Also I noticed earlier, I think
right before the bicycle kick. You know, soccer players are
so fast running around, they can barely run in this.
They're like hid high stepping just to get through the same.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
Guys would kick the ball really hard and it would
go ten feet and it would just stop on the ground.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
It was great.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
Also, there was a good moment. I've never understood this
when they do they had a penalty kick, they fight
with the team about warbobos a place of ahead of
where it should be, and then the defender will come
and move it back.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
And on this one the player pulled one of the
great all time moves. The referee looked at him and
gave him a you keep the ball right there, and
he went and like pointed in the crowd. The rep
turn around and he moved it up and probably hard
as hell in the snow snow white at that so anyway,
it was good entertainment. Bears one.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
Jets beat the Browns twenty seven to twenty. The Jets had,
for the first time in thirty seven years, a team
got a kickoff touchdown. They excuse me, a kickoff return touchdown,
and the next time they got the ball a punt
return touchdown. First time that's happened in thirty seven years.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
Yeah, early in the game, I didn't think the Jets
would win another one this season after they had their
magical moment in Cincinnati. But when you start the game
with two touchdowns like that, I'd say you're in good hands.
And they really finished the job, got those fourteen points
in the first quarter.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
I'm an Aaron Glenn Faan. I'm not saying as a
coach because I'm not sure he's a very good coach.
But he's still looks like he could play. Oh yeah,
he wears clothes like people play like. He's kind of
got the mid forties. I still work out and you
need to know about it.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
Energy. It's kind of a little bit of unk in
there too with the growing beard. But it's like uncle
that wants you to know if you step out of line,
I can still smack that face, Like if you run
towards their sideline, he might hear you with a shoulder
that you're gonna fill unlike other guds. And I'm waiting
for him to do a headbut on somebody with a helmet.
I think it very well may come. So I'm saying
I'm an Aaron Clinton, and I was pretty happy for

(28:38):
the Jets.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
They made those big trades and we talk about how
they're preparing for the future and just gonna tank. I
just got the win right after that happened. But then
I know we already addressed the Colts game. But Sauce
Gardner did not look good in that game. He got
torched in the end zone. And then Quentin and Williams
did nothing today for the Cowboys. By so the Jets,
I mean to be fair of Sauce Gardener. He gets

(29:00):
traded Wednesday and then has to go to Berlin. I
don't think he thought. I mean literally on Wednesday, like, hey,
I'm in New York. I'm chilling, and then all of
a sudden they're like, we're gonna need you to get update.

Speaker 2 (29:09):
You got to get to Berlin.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
I would have given him a break, but his knees
buckled on one play he got folded, and then the
Jets go and get their wins. So I'm happy the
Jets got the w after their fire sale.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
At the deadline, the Browns had one of the more
Cleveland Browns like moments that you could have. I mean,
they they it was fourth and nine, they stop them,
but then there's a penalty for off sides, so they
do it again. It's fourth and four and they get
a neutral zone in fraction. The Browns would have had

(29:39):
a chance to tie the game. That may be one
of the more Browns way to lose it lose eating
themselves up, and you know, we know how bad they are,
but Dylan Gabriel actually gave you a decent game, turnover
free and you can't beat the Jets. Yea, he's fine.
You know.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
I don't know if anybody's going to be buying a
jersey this offseason getting excited.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
But they this is a game they could have won
and should have won. This was the game that I
thought people look the most miserable because it was pouring
in New York and they Voluntari they went to a
Browns Jets game in the final way, so they went
out to if anybody's ever been to the Metal Lands,
you gotta want to get there, Like there's no easy way.
You don't just go get an uber.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
Hey, you want to get I mean, you can get
an uber, but you're gonna still be taking a second
mortgage to pay for it. It's far away, the train
is crowded, and then to go and just sit in
the rain and watch the Browns and Jets. Those are
pretty hardy fans, aren't they.

Speaker 3 (30:32):
Yeah, I'm just wondering who would it be. Jets fans
didn't really have a lot too excited about. Did Cleveland
fans travel? They're trying to get into the Metal Lands
for that one? So it's almost like what kind of.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
It looked to me?

Speaker 1 (30:43):
Like though it was a pretty big crowd's first game
I've ever watched the Jets where they didn't show that
guy in the helmet any wasn't there.

Speaker 2 (30:50):
Hope he's all right. They show him usually coin toss
straight to him, quarterback run on the field script the
first time I've never seen him at the gate. Yeah,
I hope he's okay. Yeah, even he was like Jets.
Brown's nothing. I'm gonna take this off. I'm not gonna
I'm not gonna do it.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
The Texans with one of the great comebacks in a
long time against the Jaguars. Jaguars were up twenty nine
to ten to start the fourth quarter, and they will
lose thirty six twenty nine. Davis Mills, I mean, go, go, gadget.
Davis Mills was excellent. If you had only seen the

(31:30):
fourth quarter today, you would think Davis Mills is the
best quarterback in football.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
He was unbelievable. CJ. Stroud, So you should you worry
about his job when he gets back? Is it that good?
I mean no, But if you promised me fourth quarter
Davis Mills, I'm taking him over Joe Montana. He was unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
Twenty six point fourth quarters wild fretty one. I have
a confession with this game. I was pretty dialed in,
and when the fourth quarter started, I kind of thought,
you know, I had reds on on, but then I
locked into other games. Did not even know anything about
the comeback. I got a text from a friend that says,
holy bleep Jaguars, and I'm thinking, there's no way they
blew that game and flipped over and had seen it happen.

(32:08):
I couldn't believe they lost that. And then I don't
know if you saw Liam Cohen after the game, wasn't
a big fan of how they they lost that one.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
Liam Cohen looked as angry as a dorky guy that
went to Maine could possibly look you know what I mean,
he did go to he did go. He will look
like he'd spent some time on the main streets at
du ball. Was he was upset, but he should be.
I mean, you're up twenty nine to ten, having a

(32:37):
chance to steal that game, and I think I saw,
like the Texans have won so many games in a
row on that rivalry and you were finally able to
break that streak and then collapse that is, and that's
a loss that could keep them out of the playoffs.
Oh yeah, that is a tito.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
I mean now they're tied with the Chiefs for the
final spot, but they had a one game lead on
him until that.

Speaker 3 (32:57):
I know it was a road game, but when you're
the Jags and you've been playing well, I guess they
lost a couple before that one. But you think Davis Mills, Texans,
if we're going to do anything this season. This is
a game we have to win. Well, this is one
we got, Davis Mill respectfully, Davis Mills. This is one
I'm sure the Jags are kicking themselves over because that's
when you gotta win.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Even though it wasn't he just that what you call
him respectfully, David, I'm saying respectfully to you, you shouldn't
be winning football games in the NFL. Yeah, I call
him respectfully, Davis. I feel like he's been around forever too.
Can he was a mean? Can you tell me where
he went to college?

Speaker 5 (33:32):
No?

Speaker 2 (33:33):
I was thinking about this when you mentioned he was
better anybody. I don't have it, don't have it. I'm
gonna say somewhere in California. But I'm right about this.
Good guess. I believe he went to Stanford. Did Davis
Mills Stanford? Yep? Yeah? I feel like a California Yeah, Yeah,
he was. He was.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
He's part of that Stanford legacy from John l Way
to Andrew Luck.

Speaker 2 (33:56):
Why'd you look at me like that? Was gonna see
what you're gonna say next to Andrew Luck to Davis Mills.
It's quite lineage. Yes, all right? How many schools have
three better? What's the besta than David Mills? Really good?

(34:17):
Davis Mills is really benefiting from That's that just being
in their company. I will grant you that. Davis Mills,
his face is he's drafting what what college? That's a
good question. What college has produced the best quarterbacks? Their lineage?
What do you got? It's not Alabama? They actually have
a surprise lineage. What's uh? What's what? What's Notre Dame?

(34:41):
I was gonna and who else? Brady Quinn? Brady Quinn?
Stop Quinn? Here's the handsome guy Palace? Oh uh, he's
not doing anything though? Wait a minute, there where did
Ken Stabler went to? Went to Alabama? That's right, there's
gotta be one until somebody tells me another one. I'm

(35:03):
going with Stanford with John Alway, Andrew Luck and Davis Mills.
Is that better than Jimmy Cousin, Bray Quit, Joe Montana,
Let's see Troy Aitman.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
There's gonna be more. Not Brady went to Michigan. Who
else went to Michigan? Drew Henson? There's not a lot
of Michigan guys. Uh, Peyton Manny went to Tennessee. But
I can't think of another Tennessee guy that's really good Mahomes,
Texas Tech. So no, let's just go through we did Montana,

(35:38):
Stabach went to like what Pitt or not stop?

Speaker 2 (35:41):
Excuse me? Starback with the Navy, Bradshaw I think went
the Pitt.

Speaker 5 (35:48):
No, Oklahoma's got bakery, But who else?

Speaker 2 (35:51):
Tyler, Sam Bradford, Josh Hipel. I mean those are all
None of those guys is of the is of until
someone gives me otherwise. I'm still going Stanford with l
Way Luck and Davis Mills. What about Louisville, Well, he's
got Lamar Bridgewater and Johnny United US, so that's a

(36:12):
good one. Johnny UNINAUS Lamar and Teddy Bridgewater. Alabama's louill
with those top two, I mean that is a I
don't know, I don't it's Davis Mills better than Teddy Bridgewater.
Really comes down to Davis Bridgewater. I think you probably

(36:34):
take Dinny Bridgewater. It's gonna be closed. There's gotta be
a school that's better. Jalen Hurts is from Oklahoma to
or and Alabama Alabama.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
If you take their best is Ken Stabler, Joe Namath,
did Bart Star go there. I think, Okay, now that's
that might be the winner, even though because Ken's Stabler,
Joe namath and and Bart Starr is a pretty good
three son the Jalen Hurts.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
Bart was Alabama. Okay, so then I think I'm gonna
take Alabama. Davis Mills will be second. Does Perdue have
a third with Breeze and Greasey? Didn't Bob Greasy go there?
Yes he did. It's pretty good. Do they have a third?
I don't know a third? Len Dawson. Now that's that's
a really good threesome. Hmm. So it's Alabama, Purdue, and Stanford.

(37:25):
I think we all agree.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
Wait, man, I got one hang on Colon.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
Rodgers cheering John Off and that they have somebody else.
It's a good one. I can't think of. I don't
have a third. Hey, I didn't expect to get off
on this. Just I just want Davis Mills to get
respect for how he played in the fourth.

Speaker 3 (37:44):
Quurt Well, I think this debate is different if we
had it yesterday. Is Davis Mills twenty six point fourth quarter?

Speaker 2 (37:49):
Today?

Speaker 3 (37:50):
If you're if you're ever going to make the case
for Stanford, right now is the moment the day, This
is your best day to do it, maybe in the
history of mankind to make the make it.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
It was fun on the flow thought get that brain movie.
I'm sure there are ones we didn't yet. Probably if
we did, that's you know, we did the best we could.
Just wanted to make a knowe here at the halfway point.
Paul Tagliaboo passed away. He was the NFL commissioner between
Pete Rosel and Roger Goodell. He's probably best known for
he kind of negotiated the first big leaps in NFL

(38:27):
TV contracts. He negotiat I think the first deal with Fox,
which was the one that really took NFL media rights
to a new team. He added he was part of
adding the Jacksonville Jaguars Carolina Panthers to the league, which
made it thirty two teams and kind of was a
transition between two commissioners that were a long time everyone

(38:48):
considers a gentleman. And also was the first one to
push to have games in Europe as well. So he
probably passed away on today that they played a game
in Berlin. So rest in peace to Paul Tagiboo. I
think they said it was eighty eight years old.

Speaker 3 (39:04):
Yeah, that was the commissioner of my childhood when I
was just falling in love with the NFL. And as
you mentioned, with the europe connection that was big today
with that first Berlin game and how they keep growing
the International series and he was a big party getting
that started back when he was in church.

Speaker 2 (39:19):
Yeah, all right. Dolphins Bills craziest result of the day.
I mean shocking, not just the Dolphins war, but the

(39:41):
fact that they dominated US sixteen nothing in the first half.

Speaker 1 (39:46):
Josh Allen, you know, his MVP candidacy took a plummet,
but it was an absolute beatdown. And you know today
on my ESPN morning show, we always have a celebrity
guest picker, and today we had Damon Heward, Brock Heward's
brother whose son executed the fake punt for Stanford Friday night,
which is what we had.

Speaker 2 (40:06):
Damon Heward, and he picked this game. We called that, Wow,
we picked all the game. He said, Dolphins said, I've
been talking to people in the Dolphins they feel comfortable
about winning today and he picked it. So shout out
to Damon Heward. Were you surprised by this?

Speaker 3 (40:20):
I was shocked. I mean, well one, I was shocked.
Just that the Dolphins could win, but the Bills zero
points at halftime. That first half was just punt punt punt.
They had a bad fumble on a drive when it
looks like they were going to finally get some points.
So it was the first time they have n't scored
in the first half in over two years. So it's
not just that the Dolphins are walking away with the winners.
I couldn't believe the Bills could could look that bad.

Speaker 1 (40:43):
I yeah, I mean the Bills watching Josh Allen. He
threw a terrible interception in the end zone play. I
think they were going they had a shot to cut
it from you know, what was the final score thirteen?
I think it was sixteen to six, and they had
a shot to cut it to sixteen thirteen. He throws
an interception. He had a bad fumble on the series

(41:04):
after that. Really just a unbelievable I mean, especially the
Dolphins had lost what seven straight or something, and then
to win this game and win it in the dominating fashion.
This will be one of those results that may be
the most surprising.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
Of the year.

Speaker 3 (41:18):
Yeah, I mean, how many times on the show are
we wondering when the Dolphins would have a coaching opening now,
I'd say after this, well.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
They already said he's gonna finish the year. Maybe he
just needed that phote of confidence.

Speaker 3 (41:28):
You had a big game from eight cham with one
hundred and seventy four yards to TDS. I don't know
if the Dolphins have found life or anything, but this
says a lot about the Bills and this could really
hurt playoff seeding on down the road. This is a
loss that they could not take.

Speaker 1 (41:40):
Yeah, this, I mean it's hard to win the division
now if you're them. I mean, it's not pass had.
You know, you're kind of at the mercy of the
Pats now if you want to win the division. So
a really really surprising result. Mike McDaniel was really wet.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
I didn't see that. What it's just really it rained,
but just from the weather, like I mean.

Speaker 1 (42:03):
I don't think it was like he was just like
had taken a shower. Was just he was really wet
during the game. He looked I don't know if it's
because of his hair. He he doesn't wear a hat,
so because of that, he just looked extra wet to me.
And he also was seemed to be wearing a cotton
T shirt, which is not you don't I mean, you
don't want to wear a cotton T shirt in the rain. Everyone, Well,

(42:26):
I'm not.

Speaker 2 (42:26):
I mean, it's up to him. He just looked really
wet to me, and I started thinking, men, are you okay?

Speaker 5 (42:32):
Dan Lanning wears cotton on purpose in the rain because
he's in the fight as much as the players are.

Speaker 2 (42:37):
That's just stupid. Yeah, but sometimes coaches they go too far.
It's like, that's really that's dumb. I can see Mike
mc daniel saying that.

Speaker 1 (42:49):
I think he did it because he needed to change
quickly after he had a DJ said he had to
do it right after the game. But just sitting here
seeing him, he looked like a sappy, wet dog sitting
standing in the rain, but a happy one because they
got the victory. Huge win, biggest result of the of
the entire weekend. And you know, I don't get too
far ahead, but do this have any implications otherwise? I
guess the result of the Survivor Pool league, that's for sure. Yeah,

(43:11):
so I'm out. I had the bills. So Billy now
wins the Survivor Pool again. We found the one thing
Billy's really good at, which.

Speaker 2 (43:19):
Is Survivor Pool.

Speaker 1 (43:21):
You had the Seahawks, right Seahawks, So you now win
the Survivor League Pool. We're gonna let you keep going
during the year. See how far you can go. Okay,
tough loss for you, Matt. I gotta be honest again,
this is under.

Speaker 2 (43:36):
You heard me.

Speaker 1 (43:36):
I didn't want to pick it because I you know,
the weird things happened in Miami. Back when Brady was
with the Patriots, they would be awesome and then they
would just randomly lose a game in Miami. You know,
if I don't he was gonna wear a cotton T shirt,
I would have been even more. But you know, you
gotta go down.

Speaker 2 (43:55):
It's hard. It is why it's hard. I think now.

Speaker 1 (43:58):
I saw there's only like three or four percent of
the people in the Big one left because so many
people got knocked out by the boot Bills.

Speaker 2 (44:05):
Oh yeah, a big point. There's a lot of big
points spreads this week, but that was one of the biggest. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (44:10):
So what do I get for winning the Survivor Pool.
I would like to propose I get the Tate Ratlage
jersey from the other thing that I wanted earlier as my.

Speaker 1 (44:21):
You were supposed to get that. You were going to
get him if you got us on the ship. He
got him on the show, which you didn't.

Speaker 2 (44:26):
Uh no I didn't. But so now you want me
to actually go through with him. I think what I did.

Speaker 5 (44:32):
I came through for the team Tate RALI was a
prize for something he pulled up. That was something else
that was forgetting. I'll get you the don't forget to tell.

Speaker 2 (44:43):
Where's that wine? Uh? It's still on the way. Okay,
tariffs have you have? Does he play Tate Ralige? Yeah,
he's on the line. He's one of their starters, I believe,
offinsive line. And is he doing well? Yeah? How do
you know? I'm a fan? Remember the preview? Okay, you

(45:05):
know what I mean? Hancakes he has what was his
PFF score today? Not sure? Not sure? But big win
for the Lions today, all right.

Speaker 1 (45:12):
Ravens Vikings Vikings started out up fourteen or thirteen. Nothing
looked like they were gonna run away with the game,
and then collapsed eight false starts at home, which I
didn't do that, I don't know. That's not a record
that has to be up there. And the Ravens come
back win twenty seven nineteen. Lamar, who had a slow
first half, really picked it up in the second half.

(45:33):
This is the game Ravens are now favored to win
the AFC North after starting one in five. I thought
this was a massive game for both teams. The Ravens
because I think they are now on pace. They paid
this play the Steelers twice. They can win the division
and then the Vikings. This is the kind of game
that keeps you out of the playoffs. Yeah, tough loss

(45:54):
from them. It's embarrassing to have the penalties in the
sixth they did at home. One of the crazier things
I saw from this was Lamar. I'd forgotten about his
NFC his record against the NFC. He's now twenty five
and three against NFL teams. That is outrageous for someone
play it out.

Speaker 2 (46:09):
But you can see why because you don't get you
can't practice against that. And I think there's no way
to replicate what he does in the week leading up
to it. So if you haven't seen it, you know.

Speaker 1 (46:21):
I mean, the teams that play Lamarre the best are
the NFC North teams, even when they're not good, because
they've seen it a lot.

Speaker 2 (46:26):
If you haven't seen it. What are you going to do? Oh?
I completely get it.

Speaker 3 (46:29):
But twenty five and three in the NFL is impressive.
So that blew me away when they put that stat up.
But they have turned it on.

Speaker 2 (46:36):
They had that.

Speaker 3 (46:36):
Whether it was four out of five to start the year,
we'd all throw them away. Defense is still suspect, but
with the healthy Lamar, they're always going to be a record.

Speaker 2 (46:44):
Now they four and five, four and five, Yeah, I
mean they're in Minnesota. You would not want to see them.
You know, they're in the playoffs. You know their next
three games. Give them to Browns, Jets, Bengals. Don't let
the Ravens get hot. Well, I mean they're going to
get hot.

Speaker 3 (47:01):
I mean that's uh, that'll probably be a six game
win streak, wins all sudden done. We'll see about the Bengals.
I think it's let's go get their.

Speaker 1 (47:07):
Whole schedule, he said, Browns, Jets, Bingals. Then you got
the Steelers Bingles again, Patriots, that could be now a
massive game Packers, Steelers again. So you're right, they need
to win these next three. But if they could just
take care of business in Brown's Jets, Bengals, they'll be
and you're now on one game back from the Steelers

(47:27):
and they will play them.

Speaker 3 (47:28):
Yeah, that's why they get a little six game winning streat. Going,
stay healthy, defense, show up a little bit. They're going
to be right in the mix when we're here at
the playoff time.

Speaker 1 (47:37):
Saintans beat the Panthers seventeen to seven. I have to
admit I wasn't locked in on this game. You told
me that Tyler Schuck is the first Saints rookie quarterback
to get a win since.

Speaker 2 (47:50):
Win nineteen eighty one. Wow. Impressive. I guess they don't
have a lot of rookie quarterbacks starting. You know, we
were big believers in Tyler Shuck. We all knew this
was going to happen. Well, I mean, Elstack like he
was great. He had seventeen but all that was instantly
high right.

Speaker 5 (48:06):
Yes, one twenty eight point nine, two hundred eighty two
passing yards, two touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (48:11):
Looked pretty decent. That's pretty good. Where did you go
to school? Lord? Lit you? I can't have that out there,
We can't have that on podcasts and be complimenting Louisville.
But so not only it sounds in our little ranking.
Depending on how you viewed Davis Mills. It sounded like
Louisville was like third. I don't want to give him
that credit. I can't believe we're doing this on this podcast.

(48:31):
Cow Perdue.

Speaker 5 (48:35):
For the Panthers, Rico Dad l did the no gyrating
of hips touchdown celebration no pumps, so.

Speaker 1 (48:42):
He did zero pumps. They lost the game, But I
do have to give him credit for that. I think
it's kind of a gutsy thing to do. You got
fine for the two pumps. He put the hands on
the head like it was going to be another pump.
He did the setup and then he did not pump.
He pre pumped and just didn't go through with it. Also,

(49:02):
in the Colts game, their mascot double pumped after the
film goal. He always did that, yeah, but it was
it was two. I kind of feel like that was
intentional that he did a two pump. I think he
did a little check to see they don't suspend. Why
is the Colts mascot led always pumping?

Speaker 2 (49:18):
And I have to tell you the Colt's mascot, to me,
that's a lot dirtier of a pumping. There's so much
moving there. Where's his fun his flag and like mascots
are in general, like child like children are for mascots.
I feel like there's a lot of pumping going on.

Speaker 5 (49:35):
Should we should we held our mascots to the same
standard we did the playoffs?

Speaker 2 (49:39):
Blue and Rico Dollar.

Speaker 1 (49:41):
Just think if Rico Down has to has to get hit,
he should get to pump as much as a kind
of fur costume.

Speaker 2 (49:48):
Is there a limit on pumps? Obviously?

Speaker 1 (49:51):
Two Wayne, Now he's gotta do one and see see
what happens. They lost disappointing results from the Panthers who
had been good. They're now what five and five? Correct,
but they had had a winning record. You gotta think
you're gonna win this game. I was at home today.
You gotta think you're gonna win that. And then again,
that's a disappointing result. I think if your meal mixed,

(50:11):
you just plug in. You're like, look, we did as
long as you could.

Speaker 2 (50:14):
Loss.

Speaker 3 (50:15):
The loss of the Saints, I think you know I
was big on meal mixed. Stay away, you're you're the
reason they're winning. I think this is so bad the
maw mixed controversies.

Speaker 1 (50:24):
I wonder if it's some karma for how they treated
the meow mixed people could be those former players. For
Jonathan Stewart may have some apologizing to do. Meal Mix
was just trying to do something good and you all
turned them around, and that's karma.

Speaker 2 (50:40):
And of all the teams, the Saint, I mean, you
beat the Packers and then lose to the Saints.

Speaker 1 (50:46):
Yeah, that's the way it goes, all right. The late
games collectively made me want to cry. They were all
over quick. I mean basically forty five minutes into it.
All the games were over. The lines had taken control,
and the Commanders Seahawks were up like twenty eight nothing

(51:06):
and early on the Cardinals, and then the Rams were
up what twenty one to nothing early on the forty
nine ers. These games were over. So I think the
big story of the afternoon was in Lion's Commander's Donald Trump,
you know, and I.

Speaker 2 (51:21):
Know everybody, okay, you know steek the football that. But
to be fair, this came into my world today. This
was football. This was football, and then they brought it all. Right.

Speaker 1 (51:33):
Let me give you the in my opinion, the good
and the bad of Trump part of a B level game.
First of all, the flyover is it just me or
did they get a little close.

Speaker 2 (51:43):
I thought that was way too close. I saw a
picture before before I saw the flyover.

Speaker 3 (51:49):
I genuinely thought of his photoshopps with how close it was,
to say, why was it so close?

Speaker 2 (51:55):
Normally when you have a flyover, it's way up there.
It looked like it looked like they could just hang
from the bottom of the plane. But can you if
you were sitting at the top right there. Oh, it's
way too close. It's way too close. Instead of parachuting in,
they're just gonna hand the ball off to the ref

(52:16):
as they came through, way too close.

Speaker 1 (52:18):
And he didn't come in until like the second quarter.
I think because security and stuff, which I guess was
probably a good thing for traffic, et cetera. But you agree,
too close.

Speaker 3 (52:30):
Yeah, it also just seemed unnecessary. It could have been
just a car riding. But whatever, I mean, where are
we coming from?

Speaker 2 (52:38):
Where are we coming from? Is he coming from? The
could have been uber, I mean, he flew Come on,
he had to have been somewhere else. He couldn't flown
from DC to land over Maryland. I don't know why
wouldn't he. That's where he lives. They don't have an airport.
They can land that thing right next to the stay.

Speaker 3 (52:59):
I think they took off. It's a little message like, hey,
we'll be there in a minute. Look at our plane.

Speaker 2 (53:04):
Traffic was bad. It's a little Secondly, he did the
what was it when when he was speaking in the microphone?
Was he like? What was he doing? Was he doing this?
Was he swearing in marines or something? I didn't see that.
I saw the Kenny Albert interview. But did he do so?

Speaker 1 (53:21):
So he spoke to the crowd, but he was reading
something and I assume it was like somebody was maybe
swearing in to be a marine or to be something,
and it said he said, I state your name, and
he would he read state your name, which I don't.

Speaker 2 (53:39):
Know what he was doing. Do you know what he
was doing? I don't. Well, he got boot a lot.
The point is he got boot a lot, which you know,
would you boo let's just forget about him. Would you
boo someone in that scenario that you didn't want?

Speaker 1 (53:57):
Mmmm?

Speaker 2 (53:59):
It depends.

Speaker 3 (54:00):
I probably wouldn't boo, Like a political figure, who would
you boo? If someone related to the team we're playing? Okay,
So like if if it's like a celebrity fan.

Speaker 2 (54:11):
Or something like that Swift. Yeah, how would you boo
Taylor Swift? What did she do? I mean, if she
was she's were playing my team and they showed Taylor Swift,
you would boo her? Oh yeah, I was just supporting
her boyfriend. Yes, is the enemy for sixty minutes, she's
an enemy.

Speaker 3 (54:28):
I'm going anyone connected to the other team. I'm not
just everyone, but if I feel like it, if they're
like we're in the jersey of the game we're currently watching.
I watched the video of him getting booed. They had
people that were like not that far from him, because
you know, he's in like a suite and he's looking
down and there are people that are doesn't feel like

(54:48):
they're very far and they're just looking directly at him booing,
and then other people are trying to clap, and then
there are people booing the people clap.

Speaker 2 (54:58):
They're just trying to out do each other. Yeah, And
it felt like it was a very intense scene there.
And then I thought about the broadcast crew doing the
game was Jonathan Vilma, Okay, I want to get to that,
but are you guys about the interview or yes? Six seven?

Speaker 1 (55:11):
Okay, So just second about the interview. Now, it's interesting
that Kenny Albert and Jonathan Wilbert the guy did with
the interview. First of all, they're like Fox's D team, right,
I mean they're at least number three. I think they're
like the fourth or fifth team, aren't they, Cause it's
like it's Brady's team, Greg Olsen's team. Does Daryl Johnston.

Speaker 2 (55:35):
Still do it? Well, there's I don't know.

Speaker 1 (55:39):
I think I'm gonna say I'm used to it's hearing
Kenny Albert call like Seahawks Cardinals, So I'm gonna say
he's not one of the big teams. Apparently they just
found out last night they were interviewed. I want you
to think about that for a minute. All of a sudden,
you get a call last night, Hey, Jonathan, Kenny, get

(56:01):
ready to interview the president in front of twenty five
million people.

Speaker 2 (56:05):
Don't screw grew up. There could be booing by the way,
while you're doing it. Could be distracted that That would
be nerve wracking to me, wouldn't he you? Because they're
not political guys, it's not like it's not like you know,
that would be a tough interview.

Speaker 3 (56:18):
That's why I kind of thought it was. It kind
of felt weird, like Jonathan Willman did like a six
to seven joke.

Speaker 2 (56:24):
Then they he did two. Yeah. Then they showed Trump's
old football pictures. I'll give Trump credit. They showed when
he played football, and they asked him how any touchdowns
he scored? And I thought, oh God, here we go.
He's gonna say fifty years. He seems like zero. I
thought there was a moment. Yeah, that was maybe the
most humble he's ever been. I was waiting on average

(56:44):
five a game or something. He's like, no, didn't score.
Why did Jonathan Wilma try two six seven jokes? Uh?
To break the ice of because but what Trum doesn't
know what that means. But I mean what it means. Well,
you mentioned he's he's probably does not feel ready for
that interview, So like, I gotta, I gotta fund this
up and break the ice a little bit. Can I
do my fresh now of Trump calling the action? You

(57:09):
know you had to call a few plays.

Speaker 1 (57:10):
You ready, second down, it's a big play, it's a
huge play. Watch always gonna run the ball. So he
ran the ball right there. There was a big prey
big play second down. You just did that every play
was a big play. He just came a big play.
They need this right here, big play.

Speaker 2 (57:30):
Did you see Sam Brown point at him and hit
his dance though from the end zone, No, I did not.
He pointed up at where he was and hit the
little multiple. Yeah, that score did the dance? Okay, So
the players were getting into it. That's good. I guess
it was a twenty point game at the time that
big play was happening. That Donald Trump was saying, big pray,
big pray. I don't really know if I'm sounded like it,

(57:50):
but I think I'm sounding You don't sounded like hard
or so when you started and then you went into
a little Trump. It's a big play mate. Now that's
that's a little lot. That's a little bit like Donald Trump. Anyway,
it was interesting that it happened. I agree with you.

Speaker 1 (58:08):
It seemed odd a regular season commander's lines game, just
to have him there and then and then off all people.
I mean, what betting nods could I have gotten three
months ago that Kenny Albert and Jonathan Filma it would
be interviewing Donald Trump. What odds do you think I
could have gotten on that?

Speaker 3 (58:28):
I've been crazy off the chart? What if Vilma had
just start pressing them on all the issues just got
real serious enough. Commander's line, slut's talk.

Speaker 2 (58:36):
About that, that would have been one of the more Yeah,
he was just like, we need to talk about the shutdown.
You have decided not to fund snap benefits. I'm gonna
need to know why. Six seven, Well, whenever the president
wasn't in this game. It's just seemed like everyone else
was punching each other throughout the entire Okay, so what
about that punch? Which one? There were several Well, one

(58:57):
player just knocks Saint Brown, like yeah, continuing the punched
people in helmets.

Speaker 3 (59:03):
I don't get it. His head moved a little, but
it didn't look like her too bad. Full swing though
guy went for him. It was a full swing.

Speaker 2 (59:09):
Dan Campbell announced after the game he had just he
just called the place, didn't tell anybody before the game.
He's like, I decided to call the plays this game.

Speaker 3 (59:18):
So surprised everyone with that one wed they got a
punch of ref Usually that's pretty frowned upon.

Speaker 2 (59:22):
I wouldn't punch he pushed him. He didn't punch.

Speaker 3 (59:24):
Well, A wouldn't have done that either. There are also
multiple fights in the in the crowd. I saw several
commanders lion's fist fights. I don't know what they were
serving in Maryland today, big game, but everybody was turned
up a little bit and fighting all over the place.

Speaker 2 (59:41):
I can understand. I mean, there was a lot going on.

Speaker 1 (59:43):
You had you had the president, you had people fighting,
you have people dance, and you had a plane nearly
hit the stadium that happened to be the president's that
probably didn't even.

Speaker 2 (59:51):
Need to take off at all if he had the plays.
This is why Dan announced that he saw everything around him.
He's like, now when I'm just gonna let everyone know
I've been calling the place.

Speaker 1 (01:00:01):
It was quite a It took the game that was
otherwise like not really interesting and at something. I'm just
gonna combine these two NFC West games. I don't care.
I just need to say something to you all. When
the NFC West plays each other, it's hard for me.
It is because you're worn out from Witching Hour and
then a part of it.

Speaker 2 (01:00:21):
It's a yeah, and it's so far away. It's all
other side of the country.

Speaker 1 (01:00:27):
So from where I am, and I'm convinced these teams
play each other seven times a year. Like when the
Cardinals played the Seahawks. I believe this is game five
of their series this season. I know I have watched
that game at least.

Speaker 2 (01:00:44):
Three or four times.

Speaker 3 (01:00:45):
I was actually a little excited for forty nine Ers Rams.
It was just an absolute blowout. That might have been
the Rams best win all year. They went up twenty one.
Oh quickly. Matthew Stafford still looks like he's having his
best seasons now. I was surprised by that year.

Speaker 2 (01:01:00):
MVP.

Speaker 1 (01:01:01):
If it's between him and Drake May, I think they'll
pick him because he's been around longer.

Speaker 3 (01:01:05):
Maybe I would still lean Drake May if they continue
to like win like they are seven in a row,
five on the road.

Speaker 2 (01:01:10):
As we said earlier.

Speaker 3 (01:01:11):
But the Stafford when at the start of the year
people questioned he gave him play because his back issues.
He's having an incredible year.

Speaker 2 (01:01:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:01:20):
Seahawks won by Ton, Rams one by ton. What was
your Stafford stat? You gave me a stat.

Speaker 5 (01:01:25):
Earlier that you Yeah, first quarterback since the merger to
have three straight games of four plus passing touchdowns and
zero interceptions.

Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
Three straight games four pass Yeah, that's good since the merger.
I like the stats of the merger. Same just saying
since the merger, Well, I just assume, you know, everybody
remembers the merger. I guess that was what sixty seven? Yeah?
Six seven? Where is he?

Speaker 3 (01:01:51):
My favorite stat from this game was JSN had another
big game. Guy has a thousand receiving yards. He has
as many receiving yards as the entire Tennessee Titans and
two more touchdowns on the season.

Speaker 2 (01:02:02):
Yeah. The receivers. The receivers, not like running backs, but
the receivers. Wow. Now that is a great stat. So
we got that going for us, which is nice. Sunday
night football. We just finished a few minutes ago. Steelers
beat or Steelers lose to the Chargers twenty five to ten.
This was the game where I felt like Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (01:02:24):
Talked to Karma. This is where the car made him.
He looked awful and he got angry all it was
like bad air and showed up.

Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
You know, sometimes I'll be doing a radio show and
my mom will text me in the show if she
thinks I'm getting worked up, and you know what it says.
It's just one word. She'll just say breathe.

Speaker 1 (01:02:41):
She did that last night when Jerry called the football
post game show. I got a text from my mom
breathe Okay, very sweet.

Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
Aaron Rodgers needed to breathe today, needed to text.

Speaker 1 (01:02:51):
He started getting angry, he started yelling at people, he
started making bad throws and then looking and going what
what's wrong with you? And I felt like Aaron Rodgers
needed someone, if he had any friends, to look at
him and say.

Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
Breathe because he this was Aaron Rodgers is worse today. Yeah,
now three out of four he had some bad throws
that Aaron Rodgers does not miss wide open guys. It
makes me wonder. You know, he's old and he had
that great game the Flacco game. Yes, was that like
my last after Like I'm picturing an old man watching
his kids play in the backyard and he goes out
and he gives him one last run and he plays,

(01:03:25):
but then his back hurts for the next month, and
that was just his last go at it. I feel
like that that Flaco game was Rogers' last good moment
and he's it's now the decline. He's feeling it.

Speaker 1 (01:03:34):
Well, and it's it's a road game, but they had
more fans than the Chargers did there. I mean that
that stadium was all Pittsburgh fans. It was a bad
It was a bad performance. They're still five and four.
Still Mike Tomlin he always has a winning record.

Speaker 2 (01:03:49):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:03:50):
You know the Chargers, Jim Jim Harbaugh went went nuts.
It seems like he and Justin Herbert, it seems.

Speaker 2 (01:03:57):
Like they're really they're really buddies, Like they just seem
they seem to really like have a connection. Do you
think Jim's gonna be hit in LA with him going
out and getting some milks.

Speaker 1 (01:04:08):
With Well's wife and Madison Beer what they talk about either,
if they hang out. But do you think the Chargers
are a contender?

Speaker 2 (01:04:20):
I still worry about their offensive line. It was a
little better today, but it has been so bad in
the past few weeks. I don't think they can reach
there along any serious goals.

Speaker 1 (01:04:31):
For a lot of the game, the score was five
to three, three to two there for a little bit too.
That's I like a good three to two. I like
a good random score. They had a score of goami today.
By the way, what was that one Seahawks Cardinals was
forty four twenty two? That didn't never happen? Really, that's surprising.
That's one you would have felt like might have happened sometime.

Speaker 5 (01:04:49):
There's two then, because I think thirty six to twenty
nine Texans Jags was score Gommi too.

Speaker 2 (01:04:53):
I may be wrong, but you're making that out. Why
do you think that? I think I saw the score
of Gomi Twitter account tweet that out. Okay, well that
one again.

Speaker 1 (01:05:03):
Both those feel like they might have happened at some point,
but US forty four to twenty two didn't. And then,
if you want to believe Billy who may or may
not have inserted.

Speaker 2 (01:05:10):
That sound, the forty four twenty two was not a
score of Goami.

Speaker 5 (01:05:14):
They got Twitter notes on their Scoregamy tweet that it
was a score of Gommi.

Speaker 2 (01:05:19):
They was incorrect. It was a fake score Gomi. Oh,
because they did say that Twitter account got hacked. Right.

Speaker 5 (01:05:24):
The Twitter account is getting all of these wrong. It
keeps saying that these are all score of Gomis. The
Jacksonville Houston.

Speaker 2 (01:05:30):
One was a score of Gomi. So you're saying yours
was and yours was not. Yes, it's been a tough
weekend for me.

Speaker 1 (01:05:39):
Well, forty four twenty two seemed like to me a
score that would have happened. Yeah, I agree, But thirty
six twenty nine. Seems like a score that would have
had forty.

Speaker 2 (01:05:46):
Four to twenty two has happened two previous times before today,
so the Twitter account, So now we just can't trust
score a GOMI. I agree and can't trust it. Do
you know your own research on that Billy can be
trusted on? Is Ran mccount. He was listening to Bail Rogan,
who said, by the way, there have been forty four
to twenty two games before, never a thirty six twenty
nine the next gen stats before the trial take away,

(01:06:08):
we trust next gen stats still on the you can
probably run that up the ladder and get a log in.
Do you think we could get a log in? You
just got to ask. They probably would like for us
to have stats. Actually, like, hey, you guys ever considered
using some stats. By the way, next week, the week
eleven wrap up will be we will be in Buffalo. Yeah,
I can't wait.

Speaker 1 (01:06:28):
So we are driving from Lexington to uh Buffalo like
people do, yep, going through Cleveland Erie, Pennsylvania, a place
I've never fathomed going through, never any.

Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
Reason to be there.

Speaker 1 (01:06:42):
That was where Salmon Rusty when he got stabbed in
the eye. They did emergency surgery and saved him in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Speaker 2 (01:06:49):
That's exactly what I thought about. I don't even know
what you're talking about. You know what salmon rushed? He is, Oh,
teach me about it. He wrote that book where they
had they put a like a Jehad on his on
his life, but that's not the word on with it.
But he wrote the.

Speaker 1 (01:07:06):
Satanic verses and then he like went in hiding for
like twenty years, and then he came back. It was like,
I'm not gonna go and hide anymore. I'm gonna live
a public life. He did for a while and then
he got stabbed. There's a great book about it called Knife,

Speaker 2 (01:07:30):
These are things I can learn when we go to
Erie in Cleveland. What do you after if we just
shut up? He said, We just wanted to pay our
respects for how well you all handled that. And can
we plug in and do a podcast?

Speaker 3 (01:07:43):
We're on a podcast trip. Can we'll be fun doing
We'll have to find a good place to do the podcast.

Speaker 1 (01:07:49):
That'll be fun. So we're gonna start doing our own research, Billy.
That's one of the things you have to do is
figure out where we do these shows. Okay, we start
working on that. But we will be in Buffalo next week,
so looking forward. If you have suggestions. It sent us

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
