Speaker 1 (00:01):
Ay, Time travelers. This is heatherin Hord, co creator of
Nikki Fixes Time Nix Up next, be kind and rewind
to the nineties for a most epic episode of Nicki Fix.
But first, a quick word from our sponsor, Iron Horn's
Epic Productions, and I Heart Radio present Nikki Fixes Time Mix.

(00:25):
Come on, move that too, de chomping faced faster, No, no, no,
no no. I was right there, Bobby. You know there's
Pacman in our time right? Oh, I'm sorry, are you
liam the time authority checking on how I'm spending my

(00:47):
time back in time? I just thought you'd be doing
something more constructive for the mission. Oh really, like helping
my best friend find a mega band to play in
the festival that's going to save the rank because oh
golly geez, Wait, Leonards got that all covered. Oh, I

(01:08):
just wanted to go on cool nineties muppets take Manhattan
Adventure with my bestie. Wait, they went into the city
to find a band. That seems like a big deviation
from the original timeline. I mean, at some point Ben
did let band start playing here, So maybe it's not
such a big split. But let's face it, Ben is

(01:29):
never going to agree to this festival thing, even if
they get a great headliner. Well, I've been working on
fixing the actual thing. We need to get us back home,
the guitar. None of the stories I found in the
yellow pages had time tone shrinks. But then I found
this entire other section of the phone book with white pages,

(01:50):
if you can believe it, And there was a listing
for the time tone company. Okay, and of course no
one picked up the phone, but there was an address
just outside of town. I'm going to check it out.
Do you want to come? Now? You go, I'm apparently
not cool enough for buddy adventures, shoving me and Nicky

(02:11):
in the city, saving the rank together. Bobby, Bobby, where

(02:42):
are you? Nicky? Over here? You get I see you
trying to tilt the pinball machine. I leave for half
a day, and I swear at the juvenile delinquents multiply
like triples. Good. I'm glad you two are here. We
have work to do if we're going to pull this off. Wait,
you did it. You got a big band, Bobby, you

(03:05):
You wouldn't believe it. New York and the skyline is
all different and times square, and we went in there
and we got got our headliner. Everything is beginning to
line up for my big show. Who'd you get the
Google Dolls Atlantis? Oh my gosh, no doubt? Who said? Yes? Well,
not exactly the Creme della creme according to this time,

(03:28):
if you know what I mean, but a couple of
bands that have hit retro appeal to us. Oh and
good kitch Factor. Now Toto and Debbie Gibson will be
doing a double bill. Now. The way we spin it
is that celebrity is celebrity out here, and so we'll
make New Jersey think they're gods. This seems like a big, new,
different development that will attract a lot of attention. Exactly

(03:51):
the point. Now, Step two, we gotta win Ben over
because he's gonna hate it. Maybe if you talk to
him one on one you could change his mind. But
Ben right now is way more stubborn than Ben before.
Or would that be Ben after? What are any of
you talking about? What if we bring in a bunch

(04:15):
of local bands to fill out the show. Yes, that's
an incredible idea, Bobby, I mean, that's why he lets
me play here every Friday night. You don't play here
Friday nights. Friday nights are couples skate. Oh yeah, I
meant metaphorically. I mean you could play Nikki in public
in this time of year. You play usually just by myself.

(04:39):
What about with a backup band? Well, do you know
any Ben does really like this one band duo they've
played here a couple of times, call themselves the Odeon
Nikki like your dad's real estate company. Here's their names, Nikki.
Do everything in your power to get them here. And

(05:03):
we'll need a couple of other local bands to pull
this off. Bobby, that was your idea. Why don't you
take the lead on that? How I wouldn't know where
to start. Go onto the BBS bulletin boards obviously the
what we're going into full event planning mode now, leam,
you'll be my personal assistant getting everything else in order,

(05:23):
But I already have other things. That's me. The time
is of the essence, So no sleeping on the job
until it gets done. Got it? Oh and mom's the
word regarding the headliner. None of this gets to Ben
until we're ready. Right, great, come with me, Liam, But
I have to fix the guitar. Let's go. Oh oh

(05:45):
my god, Bobby, the Odeon Look at this, Daniel fix
Kevin Park my dad's my dad's were in a band.
WHOA that seems weirdly Destiny. I think I'm supposed to
see them for a reason. Yeah. Liam probably has a

(06:07):
time theory about it. Either it's exactly the person you're
supposed to me, or I'll destroy the fabric of time. Liam,
a man. We got a lot to take care of

(06:28):
and not that much time. We need concessions, horta potties, security,
sound systems, lights, and something like a green room trailer
for the talent and a v I P area And
how exactly do I help you with all of that? Liam?
I need you to channel your inner challenge accepted attitude.

(06:51):
That's how you make the world around you into the
world you want to see. So tell me what do
you want to see first? Liam? Um, Okay, I'll outline
it for you. Sound system and concessions. Get a list
of vendors. Okay, but how do I get these? Yeah,
I'm I'm looking for some guy named when it. Yeah,

(07:14):
I've give it a last name, but I'm guessing there
ain't at it right here? How may I help you?
How are you doing? We gotta special delivery from Galaxy
Records it's the writer request for Toto. Hey, Leonard, how

(07:34):
am I supposed to find these ventions? I'm reading Mystery
Flavor ice pops, fresh sheld Peanuts, light brown Poppers. They
don't even make those anymore, only purple nerds, Bagel bites
lightly toasted with all the pepperoni's taken off. We gotta

(07:55):
get everything on this list. This is my chance to
show Mr Ruby I can run with the big dogs. Leonard.
I'm sorry, but I really have other things to do
right now. I'm looking for these particular guitar strings. Liam,
You're almost a man. You just gotta step into it.

(08:15):
It's just a checklist. Do one thing and move on
to the next. Get it done, pal, What a jerk.
I got better things to do, Leonard, like find some
time tone strings and then no, biggie travel to the future.

(08:46):
Come in. Oh it's you, Bobby. Yeah, Bobby, right? Did
you uninstall the Internet? Oh? No, not yet, but I will. Hey, Ben,
I have a question. Okay, good to it. So I
heard you like the odeon and you let them play
here sometimes. Yeah, there are a couple of good kids

(09:08):
who needed something to go their way. They deserved it.
How did you find them? They dropped their demo off
and I listened to it. So you just listened and
liked them. How do you kids in the future listen
to new bands? Well, uh, it's hard to explain, and
I'm not supposed to say. Oh lords, computers, isn't it?

(09:30):
It's computers? I knew it. M all right, you've got
my attention. What do you come in here for? I
want to know about music during the nineties because it's
so different in our time, and maybe you could teach
me about bands and stuff. Is that yes? Or no?

(09:52):
What do you see right there? Creative? And it's gracious yep.
Every time Dick and Harry the popped into this place,
always wants to do a show here and always leaves
a demo. So which ones are good? How should I
know what you like? I thought you'd just sort of
tell me. Go down to the record shop and give

(10:13):
yourself a history lesson in local music. They've got listening
boost there. You might even find something new. You're welcome,
but but you might want to hurry. They closed in
a few hours. Thanks Ben, Okay, Yeah, hello, hey, Hello,

(10:54):
what's up? Bro? Come on in and welcome to the
Music City Records Shop. I was looking for listening both
Actually wow, yeah, heads straight back into the left. You'll
see a couple of booths should be available. Thanks. I

(11:19):
don't want to go to the gym. I just want
to go to shows. That's a no, I think next.

(11:41):
This all sounds so similar? Am I crazy? That's different?
I kind of like it. It sounds familiar. What is
NICKI going to like it? She think it's part of
her desk me. Why is this so hard? I know this? No? Wait,

(12:08):
how do I know this? It feels so familiar. It
feels like like, oh my gosh, it it feels like home.
It sounds like that song Mom used to play on
Saturdays while she was making dinner. Dad would come in
and do that stupid dance. Now I miss it. I

(12:30):
would do anything to do that stupid, silly dance in
the kitchen with them. And now I'm stuck here with
no one but myself. No, and I can't text, and
I have nobody to talk to you because Nikki just
keeps leaving me. Oh great, now I broke the one

(12:55):
decent demo. That's it. I've had enough the nineties. Who
was my sister's excuse me? A newbie? Done? Already. Yeah, sorry,
I think I may have got a tape stuck in
your player. No prob happens all the time. Um, you

(13:19):
work here, you know music, right, I sure as heck do.
Holy cow, it's like every local band in the area
in there. Whoa, what are these zines? Zines? It's the
voice of the locals, saying the things that need to

(13:40):
be said, sharing information on a real vibrational highway. Oh,
it's like social media, but on paper this is perfect. Um,
I'm looking for a band, actually a few bands. Looks
like there's some really cool sounds in this band. Why

(14:01):
do you need a band? My friends and I are
throwing this massive music festival fundraiser for the Millennium Rink.
I'm in charge of finding some bands to fill out
the lineup. Ben's Place? Is it in Trouble You could
say that. Oh man, I love that place. My dad
he would take me there when I was a kid.
I remember the skate cruise, the competitions, the theme nights.

(14:26):
Oh wait, hold on a second, listen to this. Oh
I really like that. Who is It sounds different in
a really good way. It's me whoa, Hey, do you
want to be one of the opening acts in a
crazy Dope music festival this Saturday. Did I play you

(14:49):
my song on purpose for that reason? Yeah? Of course
I do anything for the ring. Great, the gig is
yours here, take my damn oh and keep the zine
for inspiration. Thanks, thanks for everything. Later well, Hey, Nicky stands.

(15:15):
Want to uncover more epic time travel secrets? Had to
ep universe on Instagram and TikTok for more totally twisty details.
More Nicki fixes up next, but first a quick word
from our sponsor. Hey, time Travelers, welcome back. Want to

(15:38):
uncover more totally twisty time travel secrets had to e
ep universe dot com to learn more. There, it is
my house or my dad's house. It looks the same. Okay,

(16:06):
here goes nothing, go away. We're not interested. We're good
on god, vacuums and cook were Dan, don't be rude,
good evening, young lady? To what do we owe this visit? Grandma?

(16:31):
Do I know you? I go to school with Dan, Daniel.
I'm here to see Dan? Is that okay? Absolutely? Aunt you,
precious Daniel. You didn't tell me we were having company
for dinner. Are you making a lawsagna? Sure? And dear,

(16:56):
hot smells exactly right. I mean, my dad makes it too,
but it's never quite Maybe you've got the recipe kicking
around somewhere and she cooks. Oh, my home exciting, Daniel,
you have company? What? Oh, Daniel, don't be rude. You

(17:22):
think that I never taught him how to be around
a lady. But then again, he's never had a girl
from school come over before. Mom. What are you talking about?
Would it kill you to stay out of my business
for one minute? Dad? Daniel? Is that really you? It's Dan?

(17:43):
Nobody's called me Daniels since kindergarten. Who are you? Sorry? Dan?
I'm My name is Nikki and I'm from the Rink
and heard you're awesome music and wanted to know if
you'd play for the music festival we're putting together for

(18:05):
Ben to save the rink. And you're not gonna want
to miss this opportunity. It could put you, guys on
the map the road to success. Just imagine you and
Kevin iconic legendary whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa Pipe down
and follow me. Whoa. Your room is such a mess.

(18:32):
My dad would never let me. Never mind, you and
Kevin have to play this show we're putting together? Not
gonna happen? Why not? Where do I start? One? I
don't know you. Two Kevin and I broke disbanded weeks ago,
and three I have other interests. Now, wait, you broke

(18:56):
up with pop Kevin? I thought you'd eyes were high
school sweethearts. Who in the hell are you? What did
you hear about Kevin and me? And where? Who's blabbing
their mouths? What did they say? None of it's true.
Just mind your own business and leave it alone? Go away?
What did I stutter? Oh? Dan, I don't even know

(19:19):
where to start. But I always thought that we had
nothing in common, But now I'm realizing that I didn't
know anything. Oh you are a strange girl. Are you
blackmailing me? What? No, what happened? Why did you break up?

(19:44):
None of your business? Whatever? What's so funny? Nothing? I
just imagined you very different. Why do you talk to
you a mom like that? Um? Where do I start?
She thinks she has my life figured out, like if

(20:06):
I just do things the way she did in the
sixties or whatever, that everything would be better. But all
of her advice is just for a world that doesn't
exist anymore. Like, I'm sorry, we have more than three
TV channels and the Cold War is over. I get it.
My dad is always going on about too much screen time,

(20:27):
too much, this, too much that? Why don't you do
everything the way I did it when I was a kid.
But I think maybe now I'm starting to understand him
a little better, even if he's still mostly wrong. Is
that Pokemon red and Blue and I just got this

(20:49):
check it out, a brand new game Boy pocket. I
love Pokemon. We I mean, my dad and I played
every summer Tetris. You have Tetris? Yeah, you play play?
I have the app, Yes, I play a lot here.

(21:12):
Why don't you give it a go? You know you're
all right, Nikki? So why are you really at my house?
I think I'm supposed to get your band back together.
Oh well that's not happening. Do you want to talk
about it? Honestly, we're going separate ways. keV moved into

(21:36):
the city and is all about being an activist, though
I think he's really more into the partying. And I'm
here going to college thinking about my future, and I'm
just well, I'm just realizing it's never going to work.
Have you talked to him about it, yes, but he's

(21:57):
all like, moved to the city. We can do the
band here. But my mom would never understand me moving
to the West Village. And I don't think it's what
I want either. I just want to finish college and
get a regular job and maybe a house with a
white picket fence right here in Old Bridge and live

(22:17):
the American dream. But who am I kidding? keV doesn't
want that. I'd just be holding him back. When did
you last speak? He actually called me earlier today. He
wanted me to come into the city and meet him
at the gay rights protests. But I don't know. People

(22:39):
end up in jail for those things. Yeah, but people
also change history doing those things. I know it's scary
and people are terrible, but I can promise you one thing.
It will get better. By the time you're an adult.
You'll be able to love who you want and have
the house, even kids, everything, and not have to hide.

(23:03):
I bet even before you're out of college, there will
be gay sitcoms and then reality shows, fashion icons, civil
rights and sure it won't be perfect. There will still
be horrible people out there, but that future is waiting
for you, and it also wants you to be great.

(23:24):
I know when I'm feeling like this what my dad
would say to me. What you can't let fear dictate
your life. Ah, we do make really good music together.
I bet you do. Let's me and you go find
Kevin keev h. You're pretty convincing. You know that Ben's

(23:46):
lucky to have you helping out at the rink. I
bet you could really make a difference there. Ah, that's
really nice. So would you come with me? Never been
to one? Oh? Hell yeah. At first, we're gonna have
some of your mom's lasagna. There's no way I'm missing
out on your cooking. Then it's to the protest. Thanks

(24:19):
for the ride, man to nowhere? Where am I? This
looks like the outskirts of town. There's nothing here but
a gas station. Can I help you? Son? Yep? Sorry? Sorry, yeah,

(24:58):
I called here early. I'm Liam. I believed I spoke
to someone on the phone. What about about time tone?
M M time too? No? Uh? Time tone like tiny
tunes Adventures with Little Rabbits? Oh no, no, no, sorry,

(25:23):
I must have the wrong place. Just busting your job, son,
I remember your call, only calling out all day just
looking for a little laugh. Gets pretty quiet around here.
Nice you you really had me. Just over that hill
you see it, go up and you'll see a little

(25:44):
path not too far off, and you'll find what you're
looking for. Thanks, thank you so much. Why to hike
up that hill? Don't get lost? All most there? Huh huh?

(26:21):
Whoa made it? All right? Now, where's this path? Come on,
reveal yourself. That's it. Wait a minute, hold on, there
we go. Oh that is one giant radio antenna. But

(26:47):
no one's here. You can't be serious. I know this place.
I can't believe I didn't recognize it before. That's our
oak tree that sits on the side of the main gate.
I live here. My house is on this very hill
in the future. Wait a minute, what's that on the tree?

(27:14):
A message listen to the wind, to the air, follow
the waves. Oh, and an arrow pointing that way. Oh
I should tag the tree now now something less conspicuous,

(27:40):
miss said Rease Seed. Ah. Man, the keys are ruined now,
But you know what, I don't need my keys. I'm
not going home. I'm gonna be my own man. I'll

(28:00):
bury my keys right here. That befitting. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay,
that's it. Goodbye Dad. All right, I got a long

(28:25):
walk back to town and I still love to find
those streams. Hello and anybody there, Let's just tell this
thing on Hello, Hello, m h not fat? Wait what's

(28:47):
the sign? Time tone? It says time tone, a genuine
time tone, and her wide did the air waves and
tune in and what's happening? It's an embarity, that's why.
