Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, time travelers. This has Head the Iron Horn, co
creator of Nicki Fixes Time Mix Up. Next, be kind
and rewind to the nineties for a most epic episode
of Nicki Fix. But first, a quick word from our sponsor,
Iron Horn's Epic Productions, and I Heart Radio present Nikki

(00:21):
Fixes Time mix Your name is Leonard, not not well.
My legal name is still Leonard, but my show biz
name is now Dante Diamond. I've been thinking about it
every night since we met with Mr Ruby. What do
you think. I think you're Leonard. Dante is a different person,

(00:47):
entirely exactly. But you look so different. I feel different.
That's the power of a name. I have to sit down.
You look like you're a feint there for a second. No,
I'm okay. I'm just having a lot of confusing feelings

(01:08):
right now, good feelings right because we're about to do
this show together and make music history. This is the
show that makes you That's what I've been saying. But
it's not quite the way that you made it seem.
It's much smaller, just a bunch of second rate bands
in a dusty old lot that's called Spin. Nikki Spin

(01:32):
is our friend with the name change. In the story
I've been telling around this show, I'm creating the myth
of Dante Diamond. And after I make me seem like
the next big thing, I'm going to make you seem
like the next big thing. You want me, Nicky fix
to work with Dante Diamond. We could really go places.

(01:56):
What do you think? I think that would change the
future in a big way. That's the point. If we
spend a good enough story, the future will be whatever
we tell people it's going to be. And do you
want to help launch my career here now at this show?
In I'll make you a star? I know I can.

(02:21):
I have to think me opening at this show, Well,
that would be different, but maybe in a good way.
You'd be said on a different path. Our futures could
be changed for the better. We could save the rank
and I could get what I want. Let's change our
fates together, Nikki, sign with me. Destiny doesn't wait forever.

(02:46):
Destiny show day is tomorrow. Time is running out. Believe
me that I know. All right, guys, fore it all

(03:16):
right over here? What is going on? Liam? I can't
afford to pay for any of this. Don't worry, it's covered.
I got the college radio station to sponsor the rental
for the upgraded sound system, and thanks to Bobby and
her zine, she got the local lumber company to donate
the wood to expand the stage. You're welcome. Wow, you
kids are resourceful. Why was the rink shutting down in

(03:39):
your time? If I had this kind of help? I
think maybe we weren't quite as helpful back in our time,
And with all these favors from the community, it might
just work. That's the kind of vibe by light. I
think that there are a lot of ideas here that
you could make permanent things that would help the rink
weather hard times. What hard times? I thought you said

(04:00):
this was going to happen. What Bobby means is the
future can be so oh no, you don't you know
what's coming? Give me a hint more aliens, pandemic, climate change,
it's just the usual stuff. Then sure, go with that,
all right? Then prepare for the works. Only a couple
of years left to get ready for Y two K?

(04:22):
What's why two K a variant? Maybe? I guess we
can't tell Ben about two thousand one or two or
or or you know ever, Yeah, the mind would melt. Hey,
Nicky's back, Nickie. I this place is looking like a

(04:44):
real venue, the one we know. Nice work, Thanks, Nikki,
I'll be back. I just gotta go check on the soundboard. Nicky,
you okay? You seem Oh, I'm good. Just you know,
the past can be a little crazy sometimes, Speaking of which,

(05:05):
you and Lean look pretty cozy. What, No, we don't.
I mean he's not as bad as we thought he was.
He's not his dad. Yeah, he's not Dante Diamond. Let
me ask you something. Do you think we can change
destiny in our future by doing something radical here in

(05:28):
the past. I mean, we are, in fact trying to
change the future. You're gonna play two shows in one day,
But I'm not sure what you mean. Like, do you
think someone is faded to forever become who they are?
Not necessarily? Kindness can go a long way, you know,
saying the right thing the right person at the right time. Yeah,

(05:51):
that's what I think. Oh my gosh, are those your
dad's as teenagers? They're adorable? Hey Nikki, Hello Nikki. Wow,
this place is looking great. We saw the posters for
this all over town. It's gonna be huge. He's always

(06:12):
been such a major supporter, oh man, Ever since you
heard our demo. He's acted like we're the best thing
to come out of Old Bridge. I mean, we are
we fabulous this place up, Bobby, this is Dan and
keVs Dan and Kev's. Oh my gosh, you guys. It
is amazing to see you again again. Have we met right? No,

(06:33):
I'm Bobby. It's so great to meet you for the
first time ever. But I'm such a fan. I am
so glad that you're doing the show. And you are
both too cute. Thank you, Nicky Bobby. You are both
very weird and I am here for it. I am

(06:53):
going to go take my foot out of my mouth
and make some more copies of my zine. Nikki. Hit
me up on the walkie talking if you need me. So,
what are you here for? The show is not till tomorrow. Oh,
we're here to help out volunteers reporting for duty. You
two are amazing. We're also supposed to do a sound
check with some guy named Liam. Oh yeah, he's the

(07:16):
one in the blue shirt over by the soundboard. Cute yours. No,
but Bobby's maybe if my instincts are correct, And I'm
glad you're here because we're going to be so busy
tomorrow and before I go home, I wanted to say
that it's been great meeting you both, me and Dan.
We're not going anywhere, Haney except just over the Hudson,

(07:39):
and you're welcome to visit anytime. Once for friends with someone.
It's a lifetime commitment. I feel that Nicky. I saw
your name on the performers list. Are you playing? Yeah,
I'm working on a song about the rink. Oh, let's
hear it. Wait, you want to hear my song? We'd
love to hear. Use my guitar come out of place

(08:10):
and a time. Well, everyone thinks I'm just fine. Mm hmm.
Show date. I can't believe it's here. Ticket this line.
The door is looking great, and some hippie lady put
an empty water jug over there and people are dumping

(08:32):
all their's fair change into it. This is incredible. Old
grams over here, only a two dollar donation. Tickets, Thank you.
Here you go, You've learned all about your performers, the rings,
best skaters and the history of this old bridge institution.
Tickets throw grams to adults and four kids. Great, here

(08:56):
you go, sir, Hello party people. The Calvary has our
Kevin Dan I'm blown away. It feels like the whole
town is here. It's so much more than we could
have imagined. You look like you could use a break.
We've arrived to take over for the next hour or so.
Thank goodness, I have to uh we got this next

(09:19):
in line. I'm so proud of us. We went back
in time and did the thing. Do you think it
actually worked? Look at this, I don't know how much
better we could have done. Grew bug you, Julium. We
did this together, and no matter what happens, as long

(09:41):
as we stick together, we'll get through it. We do
make quite the team. I have to go get Bosso
set up so we can start spinning for the opening shift.
But there's still one missing element, the time tone strings.
Anyone come by to drop those off? Yet nothings so far.
Do you think once they arrived the portal that's just

(10:02):
going to open? Right then? We'll still have to string
up the guitar and I think you have to play it, Nikki.
That's how we got here, so that's probably how we
get back. Okay, So even though this show might change
the future, the portal will still open. I think changing
the future to save the rink was exactly what we

(10:24):
were supposed to do, but if there were any unintended
side effects, well we won't know until we get back.
Well keep your fingers crossed then, and everyone keep your
radios on. Roger, Hey, Nicky stands. Want to uncover more
epic time travel secrets, head to e ep universe on

(10:47):
Instagram and TikTok for more totally twisty details. More Nikki
fixes up next, but first a quick word from our sponsor. Hey,
time Travelers, welcome back. I want to uncover more totally
twisty time travel secrets. Head to e ep universe dot

(11:10):
com to learn more. Hello, Hello, Hello. My name is
Ben Brown and I've been the owner here at the
Millennium Rink for well a while now. I just wanted

(11:32):
to say a few words before the show starts. First,
thank you all for coming out. It warms my heart
to see every one of your faces here and to
know you care about this old place enough to be here.
Who listened to that brink? The show is happening, so
getting now. Look, I'm not the kind of guy who

(11:52):
is prone to get emotional, but I have to say
it really touches my heart to see how the kids staff,
fans of the rink all came together for this special,
special day. I promise that with the money raised here today,
we'll be able to look towards a bright future for
the rink. Oh and as a gesture of my fans,

(12:15):
don't forget to grab a free skate rental coupon on
the way out. Now we have w n f X
is on boss O King to kick things off. Hey,
all you kids out there, young and over. And I
say that because no matter your age, when you're fliding

(12:35):
over hardwood, okay, rink, you listen to me. I want
what's best for you, and I know in my bones
that you want what's best for me. So let's help
each other out. I'm about to get you what you want,
the money for Ben to save you. So when we
get to the future, you're gonna be all shiny and
bright and full of crowds like this. You are going

(12:56):
to be loved and those people are going to love
me too. Promise. I've always loved that spot in the
wall in the rink. Anything there in the future. Then
your speech was great. Aren't you excited with how this
is all going? That's why I came over, So thank
you to see the whole community here with so much

(13:17):
love for the rinks. Really, something makes me feel like
I've been doing something important all this time. Everything is
going to work out. To know this place means so
much to you, so many years from now. The fact
that you go through all this just to keep it alive.
I've dreamt, oh my wildest dreams here, dare to even
have a dream to begin with. I guess you and

(13:40):
your friends will be leaving soon, I think so. So
this is goodbye, Well not really. You mean you'll see
me when you get back home, of course, And I
still have my set back here later. Back here, you're
going over to play that show next door. Huh, Diamond
days and nights. Well, me and Leonard or Dante Diamond

(14:03):
as he's calling himself as of today, made a little deal.
I help him out, and he helps you out too.
He said he's going to put his profits from his
show towards the rink. That's how I know you'll have
enough to buy the building. Really, I'm surprised you seem
to be taking the whole situation a little hard. It

(14:24):
was the only way to be certain there'd be enough money.
And then the part of the wall is still blank
in the future. Maybe I've been saving it for something
that hasn't happened yet. House to sound board, over soundboard here,

(14:44):
any word on the ticket sales? Ticket sales are good,
and Liam, I think we have everything we need, but
we don't. Do you know what's in front of me
right now? Yes? One package of genuine seven gay Time
Tone brand guitar strings. WHOA, I know it. Thank you Universe,

(15:08):
thank you Time to leam, come in, come in over? Sorry? Sorry?
Did you see with him in there? What do they
look like? Honestly, I'm not sure. I saw this one
weirdly dressed person hovering by the bin for a minute,
and they could have been a man or a woman
or even non binary. They were totally different depending on

(15:31):
the angle Trippy, I know where is Nikki. I can
string up the guitar and then let's see if it works.
She said she was going dark when she goes to
play Leonard show. Then she's coming back to player set
here our said here, thank you, Jerry. That's the guy

(15:56):
from the record store. I think he changes his name
and becomes so one that we've heard of your right,
so I gotta get right you, dear thing lives. Try
you right, Hi, Hold up there, I'm on the ticket,

(16:21):
NICKI fix and first help? All right, all right, I
got you right through here, Leonard, Who are this? I said,
I'm good for it. The show was just warming up
and we're going to get a flood of people from
next door. That sounds like a prediction, and predictions don't

(16:43):
make money. Trust mature. I'll trust you, thank you, thank you.
The only problem is my boss, Mr Ruby. He ain't
so trusting the guys me. And when I told him
your pre sales were garbage, he told me to come
down here and make sure he got his money, and
he will. Well. Mr Ruby wants to believe you. He
thinks this diamond days a nice thing, could be a

(17:05):
real good hook. Problem is could be don't fill his wallet.
So I'll be here at the end of the show
and You'll have Mr Ruby's money ready for me in cash.
Got it? Yeah, I got it, I said, Do you
got it? Yeah? I got it. Then we're in agreement.
Have a great show. Leonard. It's Dante. Not yet. It

(17:27):
ain't break a leg, sweetheart, Um, Leonard, it's Dante. Oh, Nikki,
there you are? Where is everyone? Are you in trouble. Well,
it's still kind of early, and technically this crowd is

(17:50):
bigger than the rink. Technically, yes, I guess. Then I
have delivered what I promised besides no offense and no
one comes for the open band. Am sure you always
planned too, but then before you know it, you're an
hour late. The important thing is that the people I
invited to see you have checked in. A and R

(18:11):
folks really to see me. I worked the phones and
I got a couple of mid sized labels to come out.
They're hungry and everyone is looking for the next big scene.
I mean, think of it. Atlantis Morrissett just came out
with that album, and you're better than her. I'm a
little worried about that backup band you got for me,
though we haven't practiced except for sound check yesterday. Don't

(18:32):
get nervous. They're total pros. They got it down from
the tape I made. They'll follow you and the adjustments
to the song you made. I like them, but they
seem a little busy. I was practicing the song acoustic
and it sounded really good. These A and R guys
aren't looking for acoustic acts. Do it my way and
you'll kno get out of the park. You've got the look,

(18:55):
you've got the song, and you've got me. Okay, this
is it. This is going to be my big break.
This is the start of something huge. Nikki. With me
at your side, you have the potential to go all
the way. So are you ready to become a star?

(19:16):
Ready as I'll ever be. Hello, my name is Dante
Diamond and welcome to the very first Diamond Days and
Nights Fest of all. Please, welcome to the stage a
bright new talent. The whole country is going to know

(19:39):
her name soon, but you all are going to get
to brag that you were at her very first show.
Welcome to the stage, Nikki fas Hi. My name is
Nicky Fix. I'm from here, well and I'm from here,

(20:00):
but I'm visiting and I wrote the song thinking about
what this place means. I'm not a nice Look at
Nicky up there. She doesn't look like herself and she's

(20:23):
racking it. Let's go to the side stage. We'll grab
her when she finishes her song. That backing band is
a little generic, but it's nice to hear her play
with the band sounds like a band that my dad
would like. Oh, hey, I see Nikki. She just got

(20:54):
off Stageco's getting all those parting her. Excuse me, Nikki,
we got the strings. It's time ago. Who knows how
much time we've got left? She sees us here she comes.
Did you see me, Nicky? You were amazing? It was
so nervous. Did you tell it was this? So you

(21:17):
are so cool? What about the band? You were amazing? Right,
they were so good, But you were so good making
You were incredible. And I hate to break up this party.
But we did it. Wait, we did. We got an
incredible number of donations at the door. When I pulled

(21:37):
everything out of the bin, there were fifties and hundreds
in there. The total was enough, and you counted it
and put it in Ben's hands. It's in a safe.
And guess what else we found in the donations? Time
tone strings? You really? Yep? And I got them all
strong on the guitar right here. Feel it. It's warm

(22:01):
and starting to glow and vibrating. This is it. We
did it almost. I don't think we should take a
chance on playing it anywhere other than where we woke
up in the back store room over at the range.
So let's go, Come on, NICKI, okay, okay, I just
want wait, Nikki, there you are, Leonard. Do you hear

(22:25):
the crowd call me Dante? But yes, this is amazing.
They want an encore. Can't be real. I've never seen
anything like it. But you have to get back out there? Go?
Will you guys? Wait for me? Um, this guitar is
about to get too bright to hide. What do we do?
We can go to the store room perfect, I'll play

(22:45):
the song and meet you there. I'll be right behind you.
I don't think we should split up. Can't we just go?
We did it? Who cares if you don't play the encore,
You're already going to miss the show. We were supposed
to play together at the rink, Bobby, We're going to
have a million chances to play together back in our time.
But listen to that when we get back. I don't

(23:08):
know if I'll ever have a moment like this again.
Maybe maybe not. What if this is the only time ever?
What if this is the biggest moment of my whole career.
Just promise one song and you'll come straight there. I promise. Okay,
enough of this heart to heart silliness and get out there.

(23:30):
I'm going come on, Bobby, let's go. Thank you, Thank
you so much, Ridge, I love you and always. Well,
that was radically king Nicky, that was all so much. Guys,

(23:54):
you were an amazing band. I had so much fun
out there. Hey, have any of you seen I mean Dante?
Anyone know where Dante is? I saw him run over
towards the rink when you went back out. I'm cool. Well,
I really have to go. Can you tell him? I
said thank you for everything? I guess okay, thanks, um bye.

(24:28):
Where is she? I'm sure she's on her way, probably
just got hung up saying goodbye to her dad's or something. Nikki,
come in, Nikki, come in. This is Bobby over. It's okay, Bobby,
She'll be here. I know she will. Yeah. H Leonard,

(25:05):
how how much did you see enough? How could you
you saw those guys I was talking to backstage? Those
are not guys you mess with. And I still had
my keys and Ben hadn't changed the combination, that's all.
Ben's Oh, return it as soon as I can. I

(25:27):
promise you know I will. But those guys, he's Ben
knew what this was for, what kind of spot I'm in?
He'd want me to have it so did you ask him? Nicky?
I'm sorry. I don't have time to litigate this with you.
I have to go, but but Nicki, come in, come in.

(25:51):
We need you here now. I don't know how much
of a window we have here. Oh, Nicky, you're here.
I'm here here. Take the guitar. We need you to play. Now.
Here goes nothing. It's working, it's happening. The portal is opening.
Keep playing. It's getting bigger. I can see the other side.

(26:14):
Do I go. I'm stepping through. I got it. Don't
let go my hand, Nicky, I'm through me too. Nigi,

(26:35):
come fro now you hold me at a second. The
portal is shrinking. What is she doing? What is she
looking at? Think he's not gonna make it, Leam. We
got to go back, can't. The portal is too small
now we'd be trushed. Nig Sorry, we didn't do it.
