Feel like that hurts better.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
I go out like a thud. Bet I put something
in a dirty dirt. I came up from the mud
and middle down, no shirt shirt, break the ben, make
go worse, straight down, six and eight, nine to five.
Ship that time I was in fourth grade. Ship the
O G's was telling us every ten bags, you said,
you get thirty off. You know what I'm saying. And
(01:02):
from that, you know, it went from you know, just
picking your picking your route man, like I said, Man,
it was routes that you know that I wouldn't brave
enough to take coming up, and.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
I had I got homies that actually took those routes.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Man, you know, going back home with eight nine hundred dollars,
waking back up doing it the same thing.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
What I'm saying years old, you know, counter back road
like and it was like, damn, like this this the
life I got, you know what I'm saying. And it
wasn't too far from no nobody else hood's, but it
was like it was like it hit me early, man,
Like I said, seeing one of my OG's get shot
nine times right in my face, you know what I'm saying,
(01:49):
seeing another one of my partners get shot in my face,
get paralyzed, you see what I'm saying, Like just just
this just the environment that I'm growing in.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
And it's like, man, these are decisions I gotta make.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
I want to be a product of my environment and
let the hood take me under, you know what I'm saying.
It was always you know, my mama always told me, like, man,
you keep hanging with them boys, you're gonna be just
like with them boys.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
You're gonna go You're gonna go to jail with them boys.
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
It didn't really hit me until I started seeing it,
start seeing my homies get time and start seeing homies
go away from the hood five six seven years for
getting caught with you know, delivery, serving undercover polices and
you know what I'm saying, start seeing it and then
you know, but one thing I can't say about my neighborhood, man, uh,
(02:33):
rest in peace. My homie, Average Banks Man. He used
to always tell me he's to be like, Man, you
got game, You got game, man, you might.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Need to start.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
You might start fixing your end crowd, man, because what
you're doing right now, Look, it's a little far.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Ahead of what they got going. Man.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
I'm like, I ain't never see it. You know, I
love my partner. Ain't nobody will be the.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
Partner away from you understanding.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
You know what I'm saying, y'all going to skate rings together,
y'all fighting, y'all, y'all. My I've been pretty much man.
And it's just I didn't really notice how good I
was man until like, uh, like I say, till I like,
until I dropped out of high school.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Man, and I ended up running in my pint of
wheel bane.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Man.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
And it's funny because I told the story on my documentary. Uh,
I had just got shot at or whatever you know
what I'm saying. I'm out on the low end. You
know what I'm saying, running around Don durky though, you
know what I'm saying, and uh, the guys, I run
around the guys, man, And you know, I had just
got through, you know, doing my thing on the one
(03:34):
tues as far as hustling, and uh, you know, some
guys came through shooting, came through shooting it. And as
I'm making trying to you know, trying to serve whatever,
I'm hearing bullets come past my head like real close
kill like I'm talking about I'm hearing them like it
was like like folk, I'm hearing it.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
I'm talking about it. Spooke me so hard. My homie
Drill come after back.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
He let off a few of them, you know, hit back,
and one of the shortages who was shooting at us
got hit. So now I'm sitting on the porch in
the front of the porch I had, like I ain't
finished sit in the back of the you know, of
the building, trying to do no huss I'm sitting in front.
And so as I sitting in the front, man, I'm
just like, damn, looking at my life ahead of me like, damn,
what's next?
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Just so happened? Man about thirty gd's come in front
of me. Hey, man, y'all just shot one of the guys.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Man, I'm talking about, bro, I'm talking about literally looking
like like hold on, Joe, like you know what I'm saying, Like,
be cool. I'm talking about shaking you and me shaking killer.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Walk back in. Told my homie, Man, you know, hey, man,
some guys left.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Some of the guys. They talking about you. They talking
about they talking about you. Just hit one of they guys. Man, Man,
I came live. Man, I oh, Man, I'm talking about
I'm talking about.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Heartbeating heart really beating.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
Killed.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
My life was in front of me two ways. You
see what I'm saying. And I'm talking about that specific day. Man,
I remember vividly. Man got in the cab, shot past,
going back to my grandma house. Man, I saw the
IT program. I saw a lot of cars out there,
and shit, I jumped out the car. Man go up
in there. Man end up running my boy Jason Strait.
He went to Wyoming. He wanted guys too. He telled me, like, man,
(05:17):
what you've been up to? What you've been up to?
I was kind of embarrassed to tell him, I dropped
out of high school.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Bro.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
I was embarrassed, you know what I'm saying. And I
had a fresh pair of jays on bank roll, and uh,
he said, you steal hoop. I say, yeah, I steal who.
He let me play on his team. So we ended
up playing or whatever. I think we played against Sean
Marianna and I'm talking about I did my thing killer
I'm talking about. He had like about good nineteen eighteen. I'm
(05:42):
serving and guess who was in the stands. We'll bind it,
We'll bind them. Run up on me like, man, you know,
he hain't seen me since busy school. He like, man, Joe,
what you been doing, Bro? I was embarrassed to tell him, Man,
I dropped out of school, Rodie.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
He was like, man, funk all that. I'll get you
back in school, Bro.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
He was like, I'm at a school out west now, man,
Like I just took him from the lowest division to
the top division.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
That man serve like.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
We're like, He's like, man, you like I get you
in school and he was he been on his office.
Just so happened. My mama had moved though. You know
what I'm saying. She moved me from off ninety fifth.
She moved to the west aid she said, hey, look
you want to be on the ninety fifth and do
all this stay over there with them. You want to
act like you you some hood looman. You wanna act
like stay over there. She moved without telling me. Bro
(06:30):
I came back home. Try to go back on ninety
fifth and see what man. Man, all the guys like, Man,
your mama moved. Man, I say what I called my grandma.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Pull my mama too. She said, I ain't supposed to
tell you that. Baby.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
She moved to the west side, gave me the address
and the over but I'm going off the strength, like, man,
I'm done with this street like cause we'll just say.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
You can give me the who And I.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Just played against Sean Marian and the man head eighteen
nineteen points.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
Your confidence is.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Like, man, niggas can't funk with me.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
This well said it's on. So will Bannam took in
on this offer. Man, I ain't gonna lie.
Speaker 6 (07:07):
Man.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
I get to the school, man, Man, I dropped out.
I got about point five credits.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Man as a junior.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Man, I'm talking about literally dropped out that went to school, man.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
And they did what they had to do to get
me into school. Man.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
I had to go to night school morning school school
started what eight o'clock. I got to get there at
seven in the morning. I'm just I'm playing for the
football team. They trying talking about they making me do
everything that I don't need to be. I need to
be doing a big getting held. I did my thing,
and so I give it good big flowers to Will
Bannam for you. You know what I'm saying, showing me
(07:42):
that man, Hey, look, bro, you might need to pick
up on this basketball mancause you got talent. And from
that point on I took basketball series you feel.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
I mean, we just said, Will gave you that extra push.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Cause yeah, he came that push man, And I came
to Loud.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
I was looking at him, and I didn't know about
you know, au basketball. I ain't know it was you
could get ranked. I ain't no like none of that.
I just honestly I thought, if you beat the old
heads in the neighborhood and you might get a chance.
That's how naive I was to what was going on
in the basketball world.
Speaker 5 (08:19):
And that's how it was back in the day though,
you compete against the old heads in the neighborhood to
find out if you're good or not, you know, change.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
And I got that validation. I didn't say, I did
get that validation earlier and I got said, man, every
one for if we went for dude, Man just actually
either having the game that day. I get two flowers
to Jason Straight as well, because Straight put me on
the team. You're like, man, yo, we all got a
history from playing bitty basketball or whatever, you know, and
that's that's my that's my knowledge of them them being
(08:50):
basketball players.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
And it just all came full circle. Man.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
It was just specifically that day, Man, seeing my life
in front of me, Man and saying, you know what
if I continue down this path, is he the two
things gonna happen be dead in jail.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
That's just the reality of that.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Man chose the right path, legend.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Man.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
One of the best defenders ever to do it. Man,
come on, one of the realists ever do it.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Man.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Kudos and flowers to you, Bro.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
So you know, when I came into the league, it
was you know, it was different for me, Like you know,
I came in with a bunch of older guys, that
came in with or Vita Sabone is Raceeve Wallace, Sean Kemp.
I'm just naming the big man the guys, yeah, Dale Davis,
some type of got older guys.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
So you know it was a Sean Kemp.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
It was a battle every day for me, my rookie year,
bro going to gainst them guys. But I got so
much better. And what they used to tell me what
I carried on is so I tell my kids. I
tell my daughter, now, in practice you get better. That's
where you get better. In practice, you know what I mean.
And you know from all our practices we had with
the with the Grizzlies, how we used to battle and
(09:59):
go each other. You know, me and Mark we used
to switch teams. You know sometimes its definitely an advocate
of that. You know, come on, I'm about to guards
you like that's even the South. So you know coming
to the league. You know my rookie years, it was
a bunch of battles. Man, we battle. One thing about it, Bro,
I tell you I always stood up bro Sean on them.
(10:19):
I tell you, you know, the most respectable young guy.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
But I stood up.
Speaker 5 (10:25):
You know what I mean, I battle and them old
guys respected that and showed me loving and tapped me
because I'm I learned every day. I'm still learning. You know,
I'm a spun so you know I wasn't no rookie life.
You can't tell me shit. I'm like, what's up?
Speaker 1 (10:40):
Bro?
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Do what this that you feel me? I'm locked in
on them?
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Yeah, and they ain't got a saying man shopping eron anyway. Man,
you know you respect them guys, but just as good
as they is you. You gotta talent yourself and you
got a crab that you work on every day too.
So it's like y'all battling, y'all making each other better
each and every you know practice. So the kind of
kind of you know, feeding off what you said. Man,
(11:06):
it's I came in, you know, like I said, player
of the year and you know in college, you know,
went to the final four things of that nature and
getting there. The shock to me was, yo, it's a
pagan order. You know you a guard? Okay, Well, Paul
Pierce takes the first shot. We're gonna run this offense
(11:28):
through him, and you know this is what's going on.
Funny story, man, let it be like this that and
I had a rude awakening. I remember one day vividly
when the season had started. Uh well probably later into
the season. I had got a chance to start, and
uh that started me. And he drew up a play
(11:52):
I remember I never been. It's called sliced three posts
and it's for you know, Paul, to start in the corner,
come off the postman and catch it in the block.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
I'm on the wing.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
I gotta catch it from up top and throw it
in the in the block. Well, they sag so damn
fall from me, z bow. It's like, damn, it's like
seventeen eighteen on the clock. That man they sagging, so
bo I got a jack this man.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
I jacked that motherfucker. Boy Man. That motherfucker hit so
hard off the al at the top of the let
it rain. I'm talking about. Listen, clink so hard. Both
listen both.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
We end up losing by a dumb national TV game,
we playing Alan Averson.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
We lose by So we're going.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
This when I this one, I knew what it was, skategoat.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
Listen. We were going film. We're in film session. So
Doc rivers in that motherfucker.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
He's like no, like He's like, look at the first
player of the game fellas you know how he talked,
rewind that, motherfucker, Tony watch Tony Allen like, I'm right here, Coach, Like,
rewind that. He rewinded, Like, T, don't you think this
was a bad shot? I'm like, yes, sir, He was like,
rewind that again. Who are you supposed to be getting
(13:07):
this ball to out the out of the first time out?
I said, Paul Piert, you rewind that again. This is
a bad shot. You rewinded again.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
This is a bad shot. Like, yeah, you rewinded again. T.
This is a bad shot. You know what I said?
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Both So I'm kind of embarrassed now, but I'm really off, Like,
come on, let's get to the next place. We lost
by damn the twenty five. Come on, this ain't ain't
my fault. You feel what I'm saying. That's how I'm
feeling mentally. You know what I said, I said, word that, man.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Paul, look back, he said, Tony Allen, stand up. I
stood up.
Speaker 7 (13:44):
He said, Now get the fuck out of practice. It
was right then and there, I knew it was definitely
a pack not missed.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
The player of the Year from Oklahoma State man sit
Yo ass now go catch charge down for a loose ball,
get you to assist, get an offensive remound.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
This is not happening.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
Here, sir, Damn man, I'm talking about man. Listen, Bro,
I was so hurt. Bro, I ain't gonna even laugh now.
You felt like that twenty was all because of you.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Man, I feel like the whole was on.
Speaker 6 (14:17):
Bro.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
Look when I was on National TV, he already hot,
so you know me. I walk out, ma'am. I'm like,
I'm slick crying them. I think I am crying like
till then that tier coming out of my mind, Like
my mama took that change, But my mama gave me
that chain and some shit.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
I see. Danny ain't. Dany Ain's like, what's wrong? Where
you going practice? That's about to start? Where you're going?
I'm like, doctor, put me out. He's like, I'm gonna
get you back in, So shut out. Danny Ain't. Danny
Ain't got me back in practice that day.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
But it was right there and there, Bow, I knew, like, Yo,
that college shit that you did don't mean nothing.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
You gotta earn your name in this lead.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
Bro.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
It ain't nothing given to you. I'm talking about every
day in practice, bro, Like you said, I stuck Paul
Pierce every dayn practice. Paul used to have this thing
call he used to call it the G unit runs
to whereas you know, and when I get in here,
I want to I want to play one on one
with every whoever, whoever got ones. Let's play ones. And
(15:18):
I'll be so ready to amped up to come play
this man one on one.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Man.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
You're looking forward to them, I'm looking forward to him
running down there talking about who want to play runs? So,
but he upstairs before he come in practice, he gonna
do his jogging on the He's gonna do his little
fifteen sprints on the on the on a treadmill. Quick
little weight work out room, Uh in the weight room?
Come down there? Who want to play ones? I'm ready,
imagine you know the rookies got to be there already
(15:43):
before when we got to be there, like an hour
and a half before.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
You know what I'm saying, super Earth, And so I
didn't got my.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Weight work work out in idne ran my sprints and
it got my shots up.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Now I'm waiting on him.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
And so it was that right then and that now,
knowing that I could stick him or not even really
stick him to lock him down.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
Ain't too many people in the league doing what he doing,
so that helped me alone the way to defend just
about anybody.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
And also, like like you said, truth will tell you too, like, man,
bruh got me better, like you go in truth, he
going out there giving them niggas thirties.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Ain't nobody like part of the killer fact. You know
that you've been on.
Speaker 5 (16:24):
His ass and practice because you're trying to get better too.
So and you know, shout out the pan like I said,
I know he got a lot of respect for you
too and and everything. So man, that's that shit real.
That's just like me.
Speaker 1 (16:36):

So then we come to OKC for the last game.
Our confidence high. I just come off with a good game.
Everybody were clicking. So we going in conference, going into
OKC with the confidence that we about to fuck over them,
and we got there in that boy KD.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Remember that what KD went crazy?
Speaker 2 (18:02):
I think that was his coming out party. Man, I
ain't hold I think that that specific series. Man, I
saw the actual superstar m I saw you know, you know,
his catching shoot game.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
It's off the dribble game is you know, post game.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
Is you know, you know I always say if you
if you nice, looking at a guy like yourself, like,
if you nice, just three things that are gonna happen. If
you nice, You're either gonna score, get fouled, or get
an assistant. And I thought he, you know, took that
to a whole other level of that series. And you know,
actually being down to one, you know, we had opportunities
to go up three to one, and he, you know,
he took it on his shoulders to come out and say,
(18:38):
hey man, we're not going down man, and put Oklahoma
City on the map, sort of similar to how we was.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
You know what I'm saying, you know, small market.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Teams, man, you know what I'm saying, coming in this building,
you know, making our fans come out and support and believe.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
You know, hey man, we y'all need to come support this.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
And I thought he did his you know, mount Worshmore
type of adage feel what. I believe he won the
top guys in the league. He showed that early on.
Speaker 5 (19:06):
And like you said, just you know, in the rating
back off of Okay, see like they like how we
was bro Like you said, they small market and you know,
you know, uh got a great team, got great players,
just you know, future all stars, all stars and players
you know, solidified.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
So I think they grind like you said, it was
like our grind.
Speaker 5 (19:28):
But that series was, man, that was that was a
great series, man, and it was just started. It was
a start to a lot of great series upon after that.
You feel me bro like like that was almost almost
like there was our.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Rivals straight up, and it's almost like damn, like we
kicked off a rivalry like y'all. We in two with
y'all every time we see y'all. And it was more
so like even in the mold of playing like Westbrook,
sometimes I switch off to you know, KD to Westbrook
and it was like, yo, I used to always be
(20:04):
in tour with Westbrook, like KD wouldn't say too much
to me, but Westbrook could be that little motherfuckerer be like, yeah,
motherfucker I'm coming. Yeah, you don't got to worry about me,
don't stink me. Like he had that type of attitude
and that was like, Yo, I want to play him,
like like like I know this is a bad motherfucker
(20:26):
over here, but this little motherfuckerver it talking ship.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
I want to play him, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
And I like the way, you know, just just those
guys competed with us. Man, they played at all time
hat man and big salute to Russell Westbrook a legend
hall of fame type of point guard, hall of fame.
Uh you know Kevin Durant Man. I enjoyed those moments, man,
And that's series pretty much, you know what I'm saying.
Let us know man that hey man, we was this
(20:52):
close away from you know what I'm saying, come in
to get that ring with what we ultimately want to get,
you know what I'm.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
Saying, always gonna get it.
Speaker 5 (20:58):
We had to come and god damn the sky High shot,
the rust Man shot, the KD Man, the boys we had,
like you said back in the day Man playoff series, Man,
we had to get our rest for that ship.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
You know, I know, little young motherfuckers was coming straight up,
they was coming.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
I ain't gonna lie they was coming. Man.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
It was so much motherfucker icy hot. I had to
put on my motherfucker knee. Man that that motherfucker changed
the direction. Man, that myfucker seven foot fading away like
he Jordan's man. Hey, man, look that motherfuckers was coming killed.
I ain't gonna low they were coming, man for the
souf say that again, they both both of them. I mean,
(21:45):
you asked who problem Kde or Rush. I mean I
thought when they was when they was early on man
and and they like, it wasn't about whose team it
was at that age when we was playing them, I
thought it was more about, man, hold on, let's showing
we got too bad motherfuckers and we were forced to
be wrecking with you know what I'm saying. They got older,
they got the you know, biggering about you know who
(22:06):
team it was. I mean, on the outside looking at it,
that's what it looked like. But I'm not gonna speak
on nobody locker room. But it was more so like damn,
it was a clear favor for it to be Kevin
Durant team, simply.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
Because he scored a little easier. But Russell.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
Westbrook is a hard and soul of that motherfucking team,
and you couldn't do that. That And like I said,
they was a forcing both of they, you know what
I'm saying own and like I say, like, but I
ain't gonna I had problems with Westbrook. I mean, I
had problems with Durant, you know what I'm saying. My
best defense for him was just the nawn on the ball.
But Westbrook, man, I will always look to the side
(22:43):
and be like this motherfucker is a dog man. Two
motherfucking dogs, you know what I'm saying. Two dogs, like.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
In the same family, German Sheperd family, the German Shepherd.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
Yeah, yeah, that's Westbrook, the Malaware. It's a greater analogy,
great analogy.
Speaker 5 (23:00):
So you got you got them coming to you two
different ways with the same family. Bro.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
I agree.
Speaker 8 (23:05):
Right up, the game was all about you know, you
could physically move people or push people or people you know,
people thought elbows.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
It was posting up. So you start the game every
you know.
Speaker 8 (23:18):
In the post, you don't come down and like right
a pick and roll and shoot a three.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
You know what I mean That that wasn't really happening.
Speaker 5 (23:27):
So and I played with you, and I could say that, like,
you know, I know the game's changed, but you know
when I played with you, you was calling for the
bitch in the post. You like post running plays for
you in the post. You like like I'm getting turn four,
we turn it one. You you want it? You warming
up in the posts. He booty baming the motherfucker. You
(23:48):
know that, you know with the hook. So you know
what I'm saying. I go right back to it. Many
coming downf the pick and roll. He ain't coming up.
I shut the piggy roll. He come off the three,
hit the three. But my point is he giving him
a couple easy ones in the pain and then he
goes to the perimeter.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Sure it was.
Speaker 8 (24:11):
It was like, uh, playing with you, bro was fun because,
like I said, like down the stretch, give him the ball. Nobody,
nobody could stop this dude. And I used to laugh
because like I was like, nobody store.
Speaker 6 (24:32):
Like.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
I got him, I got it. He like I got
no word about it.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
He's like I got you, man, and he squabbed be
like damn, like come on, man, I got you here
you go see bo like ship, you're the man for
the job. Was interested seeing that ship. Because the man
can't jump over the gatorad but he getting it done.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
You gotta say, what about him jumping and practice? He
don't even but getting the game? Oh, give it to
your ass. Turn around, Come on, dude.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
All that and then man be ready to be ready
to defend you.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
He got your back, Yeah, he got your back.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
What you want to do any little discrepancy after this game?
Speaker 1 (25:28):
This game?
Speaker 3 (25:28):
What you want to do.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
After we get this win?
Speaker 5 (25:31):
You want to get you the story When we come
at the club and we out of town, I had
to act like, come on, bet we got her niak
by you.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
Laugh like the man.
Speaker 5 (25:44):
We laughed so hard somewhere out of town. Man, we
were somewhere out of town. I can't remember. It was
me and BD went out of something the nights and
it got kind of tricky out there and we had
I said, bro, come on, we're gonna get up out
of here.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
There's a lot of ship going on.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
Bump.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
I'm talking like I got some.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Come bro.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
So Milwaukee, Bro, Milwaukee.
Speaker 8 (26:24):
For some reason, I feel like it was in Milwaukee
when it happened.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
Milwaukee is one of them. Milwaukee.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
You go out and you was.
Speaker 8 (26:35):
In Milwaukee going to the club with Robs, me Lee,
Nal and we was all rookies. So you know it
ain't really like call the limo. He was like, Man,
I got a limo. So you get the limo. You're
jumping the limo.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
You know, the partition ship like, man, put the partition up.
You're like, Man, the ship, don't the ship, don't put up?
You know what I mean. It was a yanky limo. Man,
no drinks nothing.
Speaker 8 (27:02):
Oh, he's going to the club. He pull up in
the middle, you know, in the Memphis is in the
in the mall, like the outdoor little mall.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
Swap.
Speaker 8 (27:10):
Make that man, you pull up in the thing. Bro,
get out the car. You go like this, put the
sit in park, you get out the car. He started
walking in the car.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
Still keep going.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
The nigga.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Rob jumped through the the nigga jump through the partition,
right the nigga e Rop jumped through the.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
Partition and nigga and put his hand on the brakes.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
I was like, bro, damn. Yeah, in Milwaukee, Bro, we
just stay in the house.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
We just stay.
Speaker 5 (27:40):
In the room.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
That's funny.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
Man shout out to Milwaukee.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Man, shut up to Milwaukee.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
You know, you know, I'm one of the pioneers. Actually
I'm the founder of the Green ground. You know what
I'm saying. They call my grandfather. You feel what I'm saying.
And uh, y'all play in the groundhouse right now currently
and always sat back in wonder that twenty twenty two
team and our two thousand eleven twelve teams who think
(28:09):
God action over that shit.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
We go play a best out of sets out of seven.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
Yeah, okay, starting points out Mike Connor versus joh Mike Conley.
Speaker 3 (28:20):
Man.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Marcona, Mark bro I played with news.
Speaker 9 (28:27):
I know you played with them at a different time,
you know, look at a little different Wait at which era though?
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Which time? Ever?
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Well, you could put the right none of this right here,
y'all fouldre playing right here?
Speaker 1 (28:42):
You do? You do know y'all? Literally y'all justy'll.
Speaker 9 (28:46):
Literally found so much that they realize they can't call
them anything else. So now they just let you go
because they'll just checking every time. Like yeah, So, I mean,
you know I think you would do you would do
some good work out there for sure.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
For one for one that after we don't you would
win one game, bigger game.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
You want to win a bigger game you want to win,
you know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (29:18):
Say that one four.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
We probably got three.
Speaker 9 (29:23):
Oh man, you know, maybe y'all go crazy in that
fourth game pushing.
Speaker 5 (29:29):
One way, and then y'all realize that I know I'm
in front of ship, you said, Phoenix calling, I'm be
froning the ship.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Push out there.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
I'm gonna get right over.
Speaker 9 (29:40):
I'm gonna take a charge, a big charge, taking charge
to the sw That's interesting.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
At the mud man, you know what it is, great
and grind.
Speaker 9 (29:52):
You know, maybe for two to maybe show that that's
it I ain't going for because that just means no
for one and four two.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
That's a nice as I'm gonna tell you.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Right now, me and Dylan Brooks were canceling outs, get
tossed out.
Speaker 9 (30:15):
You're both getting tossed and then suspended for you ain't
even playing those seriously. You're definitely playing half the serious.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
If it's in your area, y'all fine, Actually he's fine too.
They let you get it a little bit. Yeah, I
don't be fine that no one's getting tossed now.
Speaker 5 (30:31):
He might not get Yeah, you're right, might not get
tossed that time.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
I'm gonna have to play that against on two K
when I get home. You can, you can do it.
I'm gonna have to put that match up together two
K when I get old.
Speaker 9 (30:45):
Bro, do you tell Perk that? Like if you just
tell the ref, it's all good. You just pull the ref. Hey,
look it's gonna battle. That was the don't call nothing.
That was the most gangster in my life. Man, you're
just saying seeing them.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
Boys, them boys looking like two pit bulls ready to
bite each other every possession. Man, hear me, I'm talking,
and they telling the rest be cool now that it's okay.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
Bro.
Speaker 9 (31:07):
I used to watch all those games when the Thunder
were coming up and he was playing Thunder. It was
just impossible. It just felt impossible to really win in Memphis.
Like and I was a Thunder fan. I hated I
didn't hate here, I hated it here kind of like
it was just like, man, it's these guys.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
They just don't go away, like, get your rest.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
Man.
Speaker 2 (31:31):
That's a compliment to us though, for sure, Bro, we
made it hell for my fucks coming in here. Bro,
you better get your rest rest coming here, get your
rest coming in And I'm pretty sure my fucks gotta
get their rest coming in here now. When they come
and see y'all, I would get rest because ain't no,
ain't no looking at them like y'all some young boys.
No more, y'all, we ain't gonna get you. The crowd
(31:51):
gonna get you. The Finals is here. You already know
we're rocking with Prass Picks. Make sure y'all head over
the Prass Picks right now, download the app and use
the pro cole mud. You don't want to miss out
on your last chance to win up two thousand times
your money. With the Finals here, Let's get to my
picks East and West, the best of the best. Some
(32:13):
easy game for y'all. SGA more on points, need I
say more MVP? Next, I picked J Dub. J doven't
doing his thing. He's been doing well, so I'm gonna
go more on points with J Dove as well. And
(32:34):
we're gonna rock out with J Doub for my third
pick as well. Yeah, because I like how he plays
on both sides of the floor. Great defender, plays hard,
so we're gonna go more on rebounds. Easy two picks
for you, more on points and assists for Tarese, he's
been balling on a mission, and I think he'll be
able to get whatever he wants to seals. Everyone on
(32:57):
his team is a threat, and I don't think OKC
has faced the team like this ship, so I expect
ty Ress to go crazy. Last pick for y'all, I'm
gonna roll with Males Turno. He's gonna have to play
well because of Okac's front court.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
So let's go more on boards.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
Those are my picks for game one, So make sure
y'all head over the Prass Picks, download the app, use
promo coma Prass Picks, run your game.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
And we gotta gotta talk about that part, the injury part.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
I thought that was the biggest thing, no doubt that
you know, pretty much put your career in and a
mold to it, like damn, y'all lucky the league got lucky.
And I thought you was like, and we was talking
about it for the show, like your game then fits
the NBA today, Yes, Like you know what I'm saying,
(33:47):
You advanced narrate six seven point guard. You could pass
shoot everything. John, You know what I'm saying. You was
just above beyond everybody. But just tell us about the
you know, the injury party.
Speaker 10 (34:00):
Yeah, it was crazy because my I think it's like
the fourth or fifth year. We're playing Detroit in the
playoffs and I go up to get a rebound and
Joe Dumars came out of the corner man and just slammed.
He tried to box me in and his knee hit
me like right, like solid in the back of my knee,
and I was like, man, they didn't feel good. I
(34:21):
think I tore it at that point, but I kept playing.
Finished that series, finished the next two series, and then lost,
and after the season was over with, I took like
two days off after going that far in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
I think it's torn. Go home, hoop the whole summer.
Speaker 10 (34:38):
I didn't take but two days off after that playoffs
and just hooped the whole summer. Got back to training
camp and was like, hey man, my legs still kind
of messed up in the area, got a MRI, had
a tor miniscus, hooped with it the whole summer. Took
two days off only didn't take no time off and
just hoop the whole summer.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
Had to have surgery.
Speaker 10 (34:57):
After the surgery was over with, I came back probably
maybe a week or two. Early's anxious because I ain't
never had no surgeries.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
I'm a hooper. I want to play. Played, didn't never
feel right.
Speaker 10 (35:10):
Bro went back in that thing about four months later,
had to have another surgery toward again in another area.
I don't know if I damaged it that summer that
I only took two days off and they only saw
one area, and then another area was happening, and then
as I started playing more, it just kind of formed.
And from that point on, Bro I was just struggling
just trying to get back healthy because I kept coming
back too soon. So eventually I get traded to Phoenix,
(35:33):
got to have another surgery. I ended up having six
knee surgeries on his one knee. But I think the
one surgery that took me under was the microfraction. That's
where they drilled the holes in your knee. I was
like one of the first athletes to have microfraction.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
You had that same surgery, the same surgery, but back
then it was like you wasn't coming back from that
and I couldn't.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
It just what it did. It pleaded with my quad.
Speaker 10 (35:53):
It took my quad out of My quad never got
strong again after that, And from that point on, Bro
I was just trying to scrap it together and not.
I was never strong enough after that, after the micro fraction,
I never got strong enough. And then I started getting
questioned about and do you really want to play? I'm like, dude,
I ain't never been injured in my life until now.
So I'm having these knee surgeries back to back to back,
and it just killed me. Bro and that's what ended
(36:14):
my career. And you're talking about after Games Man, getting
in the car driving home, it taking me about twenty
five minutes to get out the car just straighten my
knee up because it's like I started having all those surgeries.
And after the Micael fraserick fractured, he just went downhill.
Could never get it back.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
I remember.
Speaker 5 (36:33):
And that's so crazy because I was telling him I
had the Michael fraction surgery like probably my third fourth
year in the league, and I knew that that surgery
like you had it, Chris, Chris Weber I think had it,
and another guy. But they always was used all as
a as example and like you said that delete it
(36:56):
takes you got to work your choir. So when I
had it, Man, I just want to let you know
I use you as motivations to get through that, because
that was one of the hardest surgerys that you could
have had. You know, the ladder release, do the ladder
release and poke they poke holes, going to poke holes
to let the blood.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
That shits hard. Man. But I ride my bike, man
doing all the exercises.
Speaker 5 (37:19):
But man, you got me through that, man, knowing that
you know, so I had bounced back and always I
said in the articles too before, if you go back,
like when I was playing, I was like, you know,
I know Penny went through this. I know see web
them guys that you know paved the way and look,
guys I looked up to you know, as you know,
you know players and great players.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
So I had got through that. Man.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
You know through y'all too, man.
Speaker 10 (37:43):
Look because you know you got to always have that experience,
and we was like the first guys to have that.
But my thing was, if I probably wouldn't had the
Moniska surgeries with the micro fracture, I probably would have
bounced back just like how he did. But because I
had those other surgeries in the micro fracture, micro fractor
just took it out.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
And I just.
Speaker 10 (37:58):
Remember, man, no matter how hard I work, my quad
never got back strong, and that's where all that power
comes from, like and that VMO and that quad. So
that just destroyed my career, man. And then after that,
I was just trying to just make it. Man, I
wasn't trying to go out like that, trying to regain
some type of respect before I, you know, just retired
and it never just got to that level.
Speaker 3 (38:17):
What year was it, nine eighth?
Speaker 1 (38:19):
I think, yeah, right around the eighth ninth year.
Speaker 10 (38:22):
And then I just tried to scrap it out the
last the last four or five just kind of became
a jump shooter, just tried to use my IQ of
the game. Didn't have any explosion of speed posted up
a little bit because I'm you know, still six seven
or whatever.
Speaker 1 (38:33):
But it was about the eighth the ninth year. Man,
I want you to tell them, tell them the story.
While we're in front of the world. I want you
to tell him the store.
Speaker 2 (38:40):
You know, back then, bo, you know, I used to
hit the town a lot.
Speaker 1 (38:43):
You know, hit the town a lot. You know.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
So when I when I go out, you know, one
day I might want to be in the ben one
day I might want to be in the rank. But
this specific day I wanted to be in the hum B.
Can you tell them what happened when I take your
hum V that day we traded cars.
Speaker 6 (39:02):
Okay, uh, this was something that all us did. Like
I said that the main crew was me, t A,
j Reed, and Delante. So me and j Re used
to switch our cars. You know what I'm saying. The
n t A switched our cars. All types of stuff
used to happen, you know, and because you know everybody
had different kinds of cars, we want to twist switch
it up. So I gave t A my Humble because
(39:25):
I had a BMW my rookie year. And then I
thought I was bawling to the first snowstorm came and
then I couldn't even drive up everywhere.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
Humble.
Speaker 6 (39:37):
So Wet got me a Humble, hooked it up. T
A Switch had the range at the time.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
A Yeah, I got his range room all downtown in
the Humble, music in the Hungry Yeah, I had music.
Speaker 6 (39:50):
And then he had the day. You know how you
go in the parking garage and they kind of let
you know the clear Let's just say like I had.
I almost had a convertible. Man, I went through the
parking ride and damn they took my food.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
Broten, I go through. That's what cheesecake factory just come out.
Speaker 5 (40:13):
She went down in the parking.
Speaker 2 (40:16):
I'm trying to go to, you know, my chief man,
ready to pay that little twelve, you know, eighty dollars
around the corner. I'm like, know what I'm saying, long,
We're gonna pay the twelve dollars, Baby girl, be cool,
were finna go east wine and nine?
Speaker 1 (40:30):
Be cool? Man. I pulled through that mother but that
motherfucker said boom. I look up. I said they shooting.
I say, they shooting this motherfucker. Man. So I get
through that motherfucker. Boot the whole and I went to
the park. Look back. I looked at the top of
that monfuck on. You ain't stopping reverse bro. I just
kept going, see you out. Boom. I shot through that motherfucker.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
I'm trying to show I'm gonna hummer, Bro, twenty six
is brom, you ain't here.
Speaker 1 (41:00):
I got the music on fifty. He got four twelves
in the back. Boom boom, boom, boom.
Speaker 2 (41:09):
Killer killer. I get out part baby girl look up
and she say, is that supposed to look like that?
I look up us, Oh sh look killing.
Speaker 3 (41:23):
Man.
Speaker 2 (41:23):
I say, Man, I do not want to call this
nigga telling my fucked up his cor bro.
Speaker 3 (41:28):
It took me about.
Speaker 2 (41:29):
Two hours killing dang glue me killing.
Speaker 1 (41:36):
This is on the day off to killing.
Speaker 3 (41:38):
We had a day off. Killer, funk your whole day up.
Speaker 6 (41:41):
He took it to personal because look one thing about it.
We was all in the lead. It's not like he
couldn't pay for it, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (41:47):
Like he took it to the shot, but I got
it fixed on.
Speaker 2 (41:52):
It looked like, Man, it was a hummer without the
things on top pretty much.
Speaker 5 (41:57):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (41:57):
Like it was.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
Like I was, I know you got your ship back.
Speaker 1 (42:02):
You got in.
Speaker 6 (42:05):
I think I got another Did I have another truck
or something like? You went and got the rental.
Speaker 3 (42:10):

Speaker 1 (42:12):
Came around around like this t a got You gotta
be looking up, you.
Speaker 2 (42:17):
Say, man, guess what, this is the last time we
will be trained cars.
Speaker 1 (42:22):
This is the last time we trained cars.
Speaker 6 (42:24):
I tell you, Look, that's a like a little what
This is my payback on him though, right, So one
day listen to we switched cars. So and my homeboy
Jimmy at the time, I mean my homeboy who was
at the time living with me in Boston. So hold on,
I got a story on Jimmy two before you get
(42:47):
in this story. Jimmy Jeffson, that's who man, that his
main man, one of the first castle, whole.
Speaker 2 (42:55):
Boy when I first medal, his homeboy, when I first
metal his last name called him, but he told her.
He told me his name was Jimmy Turn when I
first meet him.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
Listen, we we we had we.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
