Speaker 1 (00:00):
Everyone is like having fun and that it makes it
very enjoyable to me, whereas I don't know if I've
seen that in all of Star Wars.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
I know, come at me, but I don't.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Add at me, don't us, but can at at me?

Speaker 2 (00:13):
If you are at them one.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Pillow Stranger, you're listening to Potter Rebellion. This is Taylor
Gray ez A Bridger from Star Wars Rebels.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
And I am Taser Car Sabine run Specter five.

Speaker 5 (00:36):
And Vanessa Marshall Harrison Doula's voice coming at you Specter two.

Speaker 6 (00:41):
We're reporting live, all.

Speaker 7 (00:42):
Right, So everybody, Season one, episode four, Fight or Flight
a very fun play on words and appropriate because we
forgot to mention this on the last episode where Ezra
is basically in a fight or flight mentality when he
uses his force powers to save zeb from the evil
Kallis David Oyawola, And so yeah, that is the episode

(01:03):
we're going over today. Original air date October twentieth, twenty fourteen.
If I had Vanessa's blessing, I can do the little recap.

Speaker 6 (01:10):
Do the recap, all right, here we go, punch it, Johnny,
there it is that was waiting for.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
It's waiting for it come on.

Speaker 7 (01:17):
The adventures continue with the Ghost Crew as they are
en route back to the planet Lothal, but the Adventers
aren't the only thing continuing. Aser continues to practice his
force powers and his roommate woes with Zeb are also
still ongoing, along with him reminding Zeb every twenty three
seconds that he saved his life in Ozen. One very
han solo mentality, by the way, and the roommate woes
are not helped at all with Chopper being the ultimate instigator,

(01:39):
or is I like to put it the Woody Woodpecker
of the Star Wars universe. For those who don't Woody Woodpecker,
look it up. He's the ultimate instigator. So, in efforts
to stop the Vickery and Harrisons, the young Padawan and
muscle bound and grumpy lassat on a supply run in
the town of Kotal, which includes a seemingly fool's errand
of finding a coveted Mayleeu run fruit, much to the
amusement of Canaan and a great mischievous music from the

(02:00):
Kiner brothers. However, supplies aren't the only thing on the
thal of the Empire is also there continuing the harassment
of Lathalse citizens, which includes someone Ezra knows, mister Schumar.
Ezra and Zeb take it upon themselves to have a
deck like mentality by taking on the empire by themselves.
This includes the Rats of the Lost Dark Light footchase
through the market square, a rescue mission, and Zeb flying

(02:20):
a stolen tie fighter sometimes with his feet.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Yeah. Really.

Speaker 7 (02:25):
Through it all, Ezra and Zeb succeed in their side
quests and not only do they find a may Luroun,
they also find out they make a pretty good team.
And the top it all off, Sabine shows us more
of our mad art skills immortalizing the bunk bed the
backle with Ezra and Zeb. And that is our little
recap for season one, episode four, Fight or Fly.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
Nicely and really nicely, nicely done.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
So thoughts, initial thoughts.

Speaker 7 (02:50):
This is a very fun episode and our first of
many side quests, and we start getting a little more
episodic formula of these little ab storylines, and we're establishing
that Zeb and ez are going to be this this
duo we're going to be dealing with much like an
R two D two C three po or a family guy,
the Stewie and Briant. In this case, they're going to
have Ezra and zeb.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Yeah, it's it's fun that the Force start. I didn't
realize that the Force started showing up so early in
the show that he was able to use it in
ways that he couldn't really control yet, but even like
just pressing the button when he's with Suemar, I was like,
oh wow, look he was able to do more than

(03:30):
I thought he could early on.

Speaker 5 (03:33):
Well, And I had said in the previous episode that
that I loved watching them sort of earn their respect
for one another and they're you know, I find that
I don't know, maybe it's because my family's from New York,
so you know, we're you got to you got to
earn that intimacy a little bit more. And I loved
watching that happen in this episode. I felt that by

(03:53):
the end of it, obviously they were a lot closer
to YOUA what were you going to say?

Speaker 4 (03:57):
Oh, I was just gonna say, I love the dynamic,
like it's it's as John you said, it's just a
fun episode and kind of big bro little bro kind
of ribbing.

Speaker 6 (04:08):
And all that.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
And yes, the music, the music gets better and better
already in my mind. I was like the music, you know,
really really kind of like progresses and grows and it's
scale and scope through the seasons. But that not true
like rewatching these let's just like from the jump, We're
only an episode four, and it's like so sophisticated and

(04:31):
like grandiose and beautiful.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Yeah, it's beautiful.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
I also love the And this is where I mean,
I will admit I haven't seen every single thing Stars,
but I've seen a lot. I've seen a lot of
we know that what makes the show so great is
the humor. Like you just can't leave humor out of anything.
I feel like even the most dramatic stories my favorite films,
you have to be like life is what is the

(04:57):
Shakespeare idea? It's both the comedy and drama all at once,
like of course it is. And I just love that
you like genuinely laugh, or at least you laugh at
their attempt to make you laugh. And I really appreciate
that every character has that, Like even Harrah, I forget
what the line was. She's like in the no chicuity
making a joke to them, like they all are in

(05:19):
on the joke, and like obviously Sabine and Ezra and
Chopper and that dynamic like everyone is like having fun
and that I don't know, it makes it very enjoyable
to me, whereas I don't know if I've seen that
in all of Star Wars.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
I know, come at me, but I don't.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
I don't ad at us, but.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Can add at me if you want.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
One.

Speaker 7 (05:39):
But also you're not wrong because you listen to every
interview from George Lucas. He says, I made it for
kids because to give a little backstory on where cinema
was in the seventies, there was this thing called the
Hayes Code between like thirties to nineteen sixty eight where
you weren't allowed to show certain things on film. You
couldn't show things. You just were very restricted what you

(06:00):
could put on film. I won't go into detail, you
can just kind of look at what it is. And
then once that was lifted, a lot of the early
seventies was called New Hollywood anything goes and they're being
very promiscuous and a lot of movies where the bad
guy wins. And it wasn't until two movies, Rocky and
Star Wars that came a one year apart from each
other where you could root for people again. And George

(06:20):
took that and he realized how dark everything was in
the world and he wanted something that was family friendly
and poor kids. And there is as much adventure as
there is in Star Wars. To your point, Taylor, there's
a lot of levity, there's a lot of comedy and
just in anything. You can watch something like Good One Hunting,
which is very dramatic movie.

Speaker 8 (06:38):
It's my top four movie. Easy yes, easy watch so
many funny moments like that. Dialogue is so smart and
so witty. But it's no doubt a drama. But you
can't have ninety minutes or two hours of just straight
depressing drama. But because like you said, life is ups
and downs, and Star Wars is such a great example

(06:58):
of that, especially this show, because this got back to
the roots I felt of what George created back.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
And it hits even it hits even harder by having
the levity and like even being taking out the screws
like there they're physical bits, like actual bits written in
you know, I mean to to all of it, And
I think that's what makes it fun is because it
reminds me most of and I always say it's a
new hope, like of all the Star Wars, like when
when you hear a line that's what they say, so.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Beautiful about friends, right, like you know who said it.
You could just read the line and you.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Know what characters said it. I don't feel that about
all the different properties. But if you read a line
and you're like this is in Rebels, you know who
said it. And to me, that's beautiful about knowing characters
specificity and and you care about people and you you
want to see how the relationships work out, even beyond
what might be happening outside of the ghost ship. And
that to me is that's my favorite part of the

(07:50):
show so far.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
For it, said him, this show is pretty good.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
I hop think it's the second season.

Speaker 5 (08:01):
Well. I also just want to give a shout out
because what I find interesting I have a malee. Okay,
if you're listening to this, I have an actual gift
that was given to me by a coseplaying family that
we met in Arizona at Oohukhan.

Speaker 6 (08:20):
I can send you this.

Speaker 5 (08:21):
I don't know if you remember meeting them, but they're
on the gift tag here as gosh. Yeah, but so
not only do all the things occur that you just
described in terms of great storytelling and honoring Star Wars
and this and that, but it affords us these props
that these incredible cosplayers go on to recreate. And of

(08:41):
course when we were inducted into the Mandalorian Crew, they
gave us a Sabine's helmet also her airbrush gun, which
was key. But these things unite us, and I'm what's
so funny is I'm on a text chain with all
the heros. We have like a Hara cosplay support group
on Instagram and if you're a Haracus player at at

(09:02):
me and I'll get you on there because like apparently
the mom jeans are a problem at times, so I
have the solution for you and the clinique lipstick that
you need to complete your hair ensemble. What I love, Tia,
is that in the chain they are quoting you. It
is so beaut It's so moving to me. You're so wonderful, Tia,
Like your posts are incredible and they're supporting each other

(09:25):
right now by showing I mean they all follow you anyway.
But like I just was looking to find this family
and I looked in the Hara cause Play thing. They're like,
look what tiasir Car posted it's so amazing blah blah blah,
and I just like we have a family that goes
beyond just this narrative, that we are so blessed to
interact with good people that care, and so that's going

(09:48):
on in the world. I'm sure there are a million
people who are talking about how great you are at
all times. But to just casually glance over and see
that they're comforting themselves with things that you've posted, I
think is really it's special, you know, and it starts
with gift of a MELEEU run.

Speaker 6 (10:01):
So thank you.

Speaker 5 (10:03):
Yeah, the universe expands and it's more than more than
just a hashtag.

Speaker 6 (10:09):
So yeah, it at me.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
Okay, thank you, Thanks Vanessa, thank you for sharing that,
and thank you to the ladies on that on that chat,
I really appreciate that.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Let's get some of them on here. Sometime. We'll go
get some of these.

Speaker 6 (10:22):
Can we get the hair a brigade on?

Speaker 3 (10:24):
I did?

Speaker 5 (10:25):
Yeah, No, I did a live stream with all these haras.
It was incredible. Yeah, and Indie Speeder was on. There
are a lot of really cool eras they would love
to come on. That would be amazing. I would love
that too.

Speaker 7 (10:36):
Oh, I would love that because that's really what we're
We want to shine a light on people who don't
normally get a light shown on them. So that would
include people like that or or Rick, who we alluded
to in the previous episode, like these families and people
who just love Star Wars so much. But it's our
good people, and you know, like the reason we love
Star Wars so much because in general, we invest in characters,
We invest in each other. You know, you don't invest

(10:59):
in a product. Star Wars is a product, and for
lack of better term, but it's the characters within it
that make you really really care, make you really really
love it. And that's so evident with people like that
family are like Rick, or the Haras and everybody. You know,
we got to shine a light on that for sure,
so we'll get them on cool. One of my favorite

(11:19):
moments in this one is the bunk Bed Debacle, which
I lose yes, because I grew up in the nineties
and there was one of my favorite Other favorite dynamics
was the late great Chris Farley and David Spade Tommy Boy.
But I saw this movie Black Sheet, which yes, remember,
I got DIBs on top. So there's this whole thing

(11:40):
where Chris Farley's calls DIBs on the top bunk, and
then there's the biggest storm, the roof blows off this
cabin Thurstain and David's face making films.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Like hey, I got DIBs on top, huh, and.

Speaker 7 (11:51):
Then all of a sudden, Chris Farley's bunk falls right
on top of David Spade. So that's where my brain
went the very first time I saw it, and then
when I rewatched it, I just could not stop laughing
at that. And then the cherry on top of the
sun is that Chopper is the one that like instigated
the whole thing, And Sybbing's like, yeah, I kind of
like that.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
You know, if anyone listening has not seen the movie
Block Sheep, I highly recommend you fix that immediately after
you'd get done listening to this podcast.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Yeah, please listen to us first, we need the numbers,
you know, you don't.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
Go any or just yeah, but after you're done.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
So, how fun was that too?

Speaker 7 (12:27):
Because it sounds like you were having a great time
recording that, and especially because you said this is a
very fun episode. But the dynamic between Ezra and zed
the very big brother Lee where they both like want
each other's approval, but they're never going to admit that
to each other. And uh, you know, like I just
found that to be really authentic because I, you know,
I was like that with my brothers too, Like, yeah,

(12:47):
we fought and we punched each other all the time,
uh you know, but at the same times, like I
kind of wanted them to like me. So I got
that vibe from from from this for sure. So so Taylor,
I'm just curious. One like that had been a lot
of fun to do with Steve, because I'm sure Steve,
you know, is a very generous person, generous actor, but
give us feel back the current a little bit for us,
for us who weren't in the know, weren't in the booth.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
I mean, Steve is that person Vanis and Tieno so
well he like and our dynamic. I guess it's episodes
like this that really corroborate the idea. It said a lot,
And I don't know that I've always felt it as
much that we are all our characters, but it's actually
very true and like you do bring parts of yourself
to it, and it's funny, Like I said, I've been
watching with friends when we watch it and trying to

(13:30):
show people more of Rebels, and they were laughing because
I mean, this was ten years ago. I had just
come off doing a sitcom, and there are so many
like sit call me bits that I'm realizing that I'm like,
they're like you used to say stuff like that, I mean,
and especially like what he says with Sabine, like the
yeah you doing and then back to just like right
out on the face, and like those little bits are

(13:52):
very very sickcomy and it's just funny that that's all
showing up. And I think that was the one fun
thing about the booth that we had space to play
and collaborate and like make that come to life, because
I'm I don't know how that would work without the
other person, Like, I don't know how you could make
the dynamics so fun, like the back and forth with

(14:12):
it saeing, the back and forth with zeb I guess
we do it with Chopper and he's not in there,
but it is like a really fun dynamic that the
energy you can feel in the booths once it gets going.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
I think Dave is most worried about how to stop it.

Speaker 6 (14:29):
Terrain it in.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (14:33):
I really got a lot more out of watching this
episode knowing what eventually happens with Callis and Zeb that
I think when I was first watching Oh Bummer, you know, yeah,
poor Las saw it, it didn't it didn't really land
as deeply. I loved watching him, you know, go after
the bucket heads and seem gregarious and yet deadly and

(14:57):
whoa way he climbs up the building, come on, sick,
Well done, Nick. But I felt I was grateful to
have seen what this was setting up so that I
was able to more deeply appreciate how deep that wound goes.
And you know, with all the struggle in the world,
I wish more Zeb's and Calluses could meet halfway.

Speaker 6 (15:19):
It was something very beautiful about that.

Speaker 5 (15:21):
It meant more to me than just oh, this is
a trigger for Zeb's character. This is very profound and
it hurt him physically but spiritually as well. I don't know,
it really just it resonated even more deeply for me
on this watch after having seen the rest of the season,
you know, as it unfolded.

Speaker 7 (15:37):
Yeah, because it's going to hit much different because you
know where they're headed. So when you see it for
the first time, you're just kind of like, Okay, where's
this going. But when you know what the payoff is
going to be, or even when you watch mal from
even just episode one, but knowing where it's going to
lead to and where Sam takes it. Ultimately, as we
go through this series, it definitely hits different and in
such a great way because you really do see the

(16:00):
layers to these characters and all the stories. And I
loved this episode because it felt like I mentioned Raiders
of the Lost start, because it felt very Indiana Jones.
It felt like this was plucked out of like the
Lucasfilm Library, of like the Aes, you know, because all
the way down to the mcguffin with the meinlu run,
which I believe was our first McGuff I don't know
if we'll have a big tally of mcguffins throughout Star

(16:20):
Wars Rebels, but I think that'll be our first one,
our first mcguffin, uh I, throughout the universe. And it's
that's such a great thing I think for aspiring writers
and storytellers to study, where you can take something as
simple as yeah, get me this fruit that does not
exist here and make a whole story around that, which
they did, and you never felt like it's you know,
sometimes there's bottle episodes and TV and it's like this

(16:42):
had nothing to do with the story, but this kind
of was a bottle episode, but at the same time had
everything to do with where they're going. I thought that
was so cool.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
Yeah, it's funny and mayleu run. That was a big,
a big thing in the booth for us that board.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
I think we spoke about it in the first their
second episode of there's pronunciations maylu run. When you're saying
a long sentence becomes a really difficult word because it
doesn't really make any sense. But this will be the
first of I'm sure many across the show of criticisms
of myself when you're watching yourself. I was like, I
think it exposes that I really had no idea how
to do, Like I had done no voice over that

(17:17):
actions and a line because a lot of this episode
they're running around different places. That means we're not talking,
but then there'll be one line and you're reading like, okay,
they're running around the corner and climbing a building. I
was just like I was telling my friends, I was like,
oh god, I had no idea. I'd be like ough,
and then I would say a line and then like
I didn't know how yet to put action into dialogue

(17:40):
the way if you were actually running and doing these things,
you don't even think about it because the action is
being acted and then you say the lines. Whereas this
that's where that difficulty in voice acting. You're like, Okay,
I know I need to signal that I'm moving and
also then say this line. And I thought it wasn't atrocious,
but I could see this. I hadn't yet figured it

(18:01):
out that I'm hoping when we get to season three
and four it's more seamless. But I was watching it like,
oh god, like, dude, figure that out. Like the jumps
in the Running to jump in with Steve in the
or zeb in the Tie Fighter, you can feel this
delineation between like Okay, now I'm running again. Okay, now
I'm going to say like now I'm running again. And

(18:23):
it was very funny to me.

Speaker 4 (18:24):
For what it's worth, Taylor, I appreciate everything that you're saying,
and I know how you feel because just for the
for the listeners, like Taylor and I were sort of
in similar boats, and that that we were both when
I say, primarily like primarily on camera actors, and that
neither of us had ever been on an animated series before.
And we're you know, in the booth with Vanessa Marshall,

(18:46):
Steve Bloom and Freddie Prince Junior, which was, you know,
no brush like it was. It's cool, and we were
just both kind of trying to I mean, I'm not
trying to speak for you, Taylor, but I think we
were both kind of in a similar boat where we
were like trying to figure it out and also like
trying to soak up as much information as we could

(19:08):
from these like extremely talented, experienced voiceover actors that we
were getting to do scenes with. But I was actually
watching this episode and thinking knowing where you and I
were like in our experience level voice you know, as
voiceover artists. I was really delighted. Like I did not

(19:30):
have I did not have your reaction at all. I
was watching those action sequences and I was like, Okay, Taylor,
let's go like, Okay, Wala. I don't know if all
of the listeners know what Wala is, but Vanessa, do
you wanna do you want to tell?

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Well, are because Vanessa we've done wallet together.

Speaker 5 (19:51):
Yes, yeah, Well, I was trying to remember because I
didn't experience any of any critical thoughts whatsoever. I was amazed,
like Wow, As was crushing it right now. I didn't
notice like, oh god, he knows nothing of this. I
never had that thought, not one single time. But I
do remember some of the effort sounds, thinking did we

(20:12):
record those during the episode or did they because you know,
we spoke about at the beginning when we first sort
of all joined in, and I believe at first Steve
was in Europe and had to do his first shorts
from someone's closet in Manchester, and Taylor had yet to
be cast. But we did a library of sounds like

(20:32):
this is you jumping, this is you running, This is
you out of breath, This is you catching your breath,
this is you getting impaled, this is you choking to death.
You know, your basic variety of ah, you know, all
that stuff. I couldn't remember if if we did it
woven into the episode, or they covered it in post production.
Sometimes they'll you know, have us watch the cartoon after

(20:57):
they've done the art. We do the voiceover, they do
the art, then we come in and sprinkle it with
you know, whatever it is that makes it seem like
it's more organic. But I thought we must have done
it in the moment because it was so good.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
But do you remember I think that what you I mean, Yes,
we did like Walla libraries, and there'd be like certain
days that you knew that you were going to be
like there a little longer because you had like eighteen
Walla lines. But Taylor, I feel like, I mean, correct
me if I'm wrong, but I think some of that,
like that felt very organic, like you would have just

(21:31):
done like six takes of this, jump over onto the
next column or whatever, and then in the middle of I.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
Think I think it probably was something like that.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
I'm also going to be so harsh on myself, but
at the same time, I remember doing it. The some
was grabbed and then some we did like during it,
but the wall of thing was always insuing you would
do it separate and then some is pushed in. But
I just remember being like still at that time on
the show of like give me a two person a scene,
talking like then I can show off. Don't don't make

(22:03):
me run yet every episode he's like running and jumping
and I'll be What does that mean?

Speaker 2 (22:08):
I can only jump three feet like he just jumped
fifteen feet. Okay, here's the sound for it.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
I just remember being like, Steve is flying a tie
fighter with his feet and he's saying lines to me
while he's doing the thing. I was like, okay, just
copy Steve. Remember, and those are the thoughts I remember having.

Speaker 7 (22:28):
I remember thinking, Wow, Ezra's cardio is incredible breath. That's
where I'm going through my head. But he's also strong
with the force, so you would think maybe he's got
some sort of Wolverine force regeneration with his lungs and
he doesn't have to get out of breath and sound
like Mark Wahlberg in every single movie he does. Seriously,
he's out of breath and every single movie he does.
I'm just saying, that's hilarious. I mean fifteen ft in

(22:51):
the air, I mean you're blocking Victor Wembiniano shots easily with.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
Those of This is also going to be silent Say's
basketball podcast.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
I can drop it in.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
Victor is a huge Star Wars fan. I was told
that he uses Let's free him on.

Speaker 7 (23:07):
I would love to get please come on, because I
was told I read rather that with this, and once
he got his NBA money, the first thing he bought
was the Lego Millennium Falcon like that much. He loved
Star Wars and I just saw a photo of him
with I think it was with Hayden Christensen and Rosario
Dawson at a convention seeking them out.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
So Wemby, please another one?

Speaker 1 (23:29):
I got another one the the Maybe it's something about
seven footers, the Lopez brothers, Brooke and Robin Lopez.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
Yeah, Stanford who play on the Bucks. Of course I
don't know, uh, but I talked.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
To them on the phone like years ago because if
Buddy was working with them, and he was like, they're
huge fans of Star.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Wars and they love Rebels.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
And I talked to him and I remembering like this
can't be real, but yeah, huge Rebels fans.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
Okay, I have an idea. Can we somehow first of
all get them on the show, but secondly set ups
kind of photo op with Wemby, the brothers and Chewbacca. Yeah, yeah,
I get like a height, you know, I mean, Wendy's
going to like tower over everybody anyway.

Speaker 7 (24:12):
But let's saw Shack in there too. Let's get all
the seven foot of Shaquille. Sure, let's do it.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
Come on.

Speaker 5 (24:18):
I feel I feel like one of our live events
that we do for a live record, that would be
a really fun thing to have them join us there.
I don't know, we have to figure out our schedule
as it unfolds here in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
Wenby doesn't even need the Force because his arms are
so long. It's just like, no.

Speaker 4 (24:39):
Is the Force?

Speaker 1 (24:39):
Yeah, exactly. Here's a question for JC again. Uh, Chewbacca's height.
Anyone know that we're any fans listening?

Speaker 4 (24:48):
What is shorter than Wenby? I'm going to go, you'd
love to seven?

Speaker 2 (24:53):
What seven?

Speaker 3 (24:55):
Wenby? Seven?

Speaker 7 (24:56):
Five?

Speaker 3 (24:56):
Honestly?

Speaker 7 (24:57):
Yeah, right in fact check, I'm saying shorter. He's shorter
than Wenby. That's what I got, and.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
We Wemby is seven to three you guys, Okay, okay, Yeah,
I thought he was a little shorter than Yao Ming. Wait,
but this said I was. I was going to say,
let's get Yao Ming and and Schewbacca. Uh had to head,
like you know, with do a little high comparison. I
can I just quickly say that I was once in
at the Houston International Airport and I saw yao ming.

(25:28):
This is when he still played on the rockets for
the rockets, right, uh. And he was coming to warp,
not towards me, he was coming in my direction. I
was passing him and it literally he's the tallest human
being I've ever seen in real life, and it looked
like a slow moving tree passing me, like and I
am so short, so I like crazy, My head was

(25:51):
all the way back just to sort of see up.
I was in complete awe, what a what a?

Speaker 2 (25:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (25:58):
Yeah, my my tech guru Randy who mentioned Chewbacca earlier,
so that he is seven point five feet.

Speaker 4 (26:05):
Seven point five, meaning he's like.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
The seven seven and seven five I think seven.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
He's nodding, So we're going back to Chewbacca though on
this episode it was a nice seconde.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
But I don't think we've said this yet.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
Zeb is the original Ralph McCrory drawings for Chaka, and
I feel like that's pertinent for this episode, that he
that was a potential option for Chewbacca, how Chewbacco would
look and Star Wars fans.

Speaker 9 (26:41):
Jac is going to be like t A nice try,
wasn't Okay, that's maybe I'm speaking I'm sure here, but
wasn't like Lothal that artwork for Lothal.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
Wasn't that original Ralph McCrory artwork as well?

Speaker 6 (26:54):
Yeah, yes, for.

Speaker 10 (26:58):
Don't ask me more what further, Yes, it was it
was j C will Know j that's our other hashtag,
JC will Know. We're gonna have a lot of JC
hashtag jc's hair and j C will Know or jc's
hair knows all three of those. Yeah, So we also
get an appearance of bringing it back to New Hope.

(27:21):
We talked about a New Hope in the last episode
the game Dajarik, that little hologram chess.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
Sort of game.

Speaker 7 (27:27):
So cool, right, because the first time we saw, of course,
was in a New Hope when our two was beating
Jupe to bring back to Chewbacca beating him pretty badly
into Jark. And in this case it's I believe Canaan's
winning against Chopper in Dajark. So that was a fun
again nod and callback to a New Hope. But all
but not, I mean, like, hey, by the way, this
is what it is. It's like when you know you know,

(27:48):
or if you do the research, it's it's a really
great callback in Easter Egg for everybody to get into
which I would love to play Dajark. I don't know
if like that's possible, if like we can do a
bonus episode where we play That's.

Speaker 5 (28:00):
The other thing I was thinking, because I know Sam
Whitwor is really hardcore into video games.

Speaker 6 (28:06):
Well, yeah, I was.

Speaker 5 (28:08):
Thinking if, yeah, if we wanted to get some of
these tall humans together, we could play video games with
them and you know, photo ops and nerd out and
stuff like that, that that could be a fun hangs
we Jark.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
Is it like Mortal Kombat? I was trying to figure
out when I was watching it, like, are they fight
like like rock and sock them robots type?

Speaker 6 (28:28):
But there's a there's a like a chessboard. Yeah, there's
a chessboard that.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
Oh, so you're playing like a strategic game and then
when you like Harry Potter nidfo, they go kill the thing.

Speaker 7 (28:41):
That's why it seems like to me. I don't know
if they've ever done an in depth explanation. I know
in Bad Batch they went really deep into it because
the Bad Batch really is into it. But again hashtag
jac will know. I'm just gonna lude to yeah cool.

Speaker 5 (28:55):
Yeah, and we might need d Bradley Baker to come
on and discuss his gaming skills, because of course he
did do that in Bad Batch.

Speaker 7 (29:02):
Right, oh yes, yeah, but by the way, Bad Batch,
I rewatched that recently too, because after I rewatched and
watched watching This and Bad Batch was a great series.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
I really so good, so much.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
Yeah, And it's like if anyone, for any some strange
reason was in doubt of like d Bradley Baker's like
exceptional talent, watch Bad Batch.

Speaker 6 (29:26):
And you will, you.

Speaker 2 (29:28):
Know, we will have to get D on. I saw
D last night.

Speaker 3 (29:31):
Actually, did you?

Speaker 2 (29:32):
I loved Yeah, I loved D.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
He's the best.

Speaker 4 (29:36):
What did you guys get up Tony Day?

Speaker 11 (29:39):
Yeah, we broke some bread and yeah this yeah here and.

Speaker 5 (29:49):
I oh, okay, I haven't talked to him in a minute.
We're supposed to have another dinner with the crew. They
asked me to send out an email, so yeah, I'll
I'll do our group Shenanigans please do Yeah, and what
do you have extra curricular activities?

Speaker 4 (30:07):
Sorry?

Speaker 7 (30:09):
I always when I watched Bad Batch because I loved
also the Record character. I'm like Record and Zeb would
have been a great one two punch, yeah figuratively, right,
because like they're both these like gentle giant type figures,
which we see a lot in this episode.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
We see more of Zeb's fun side, especially.

Speaker 7 (30:27):
Last like the way see this, Yeah yeah again, I'm
not Steve Bloom, so I'm not trying to.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
I'm doing the best I can.

Speaker 6 (30:34):
But the last pretty good.

Speaker 7 (30:35):
Thank you well, So if I need to do well,
there's no more. If I need to do ad R
for Steve on a voiceover thing, I guess I can
audition for it. But the laugh and he's like when
you start to see that ZEB actually does, Like I
was like, I wish the kid was here to see this,
Like it's those little details to me that like, Okay,
we're really playing this. I believe INESSA you said bromance,

(30:55):
Like I think that's the great term for it, Like
this is the Zeb is there like a couple like
Ze Like can we combine our name like like benefit
like Zra or.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
Nice? I think Zezra hashtag ze.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
I like it a lot of these.

Speaker 1 (31:13):
Has anyone given you the uh the artwork at the
end that drawn I feel like we get such amazing
interesting artwork at conventions when we meet fans.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
That one I realized I've never seen.

Speaker 3 (31:24):
That, but.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
I don't think, so did you get it?

Speaker 2 (31:30):
No? No, but what did I get it?

Speaker 4 (31:32):
Meaning has someone given it to you?

Speaker 1 (31:34):
No, But it just seemed like i'd actually seen it
for but I had never seen that upisode, so it's like, how.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
Could I see it?

Speaker 4 (31:40):
Oh no, you're talking about my my graffiti and your
room and yeah, no, actually I've got I've been given
a lot of really artwork done by done by fans
that have been kind of to share their artwork with me.
But no, actually not that.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
Maybe Dave drew it or something.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
Dave used to draw while we were in the booth,
little images and then hand it to us after scenes,
which is funny.

Speaker 4 (32:02):
Dave would quote unquote doodle and the doodles were like legit,
so like stunning pieces of like sketches and stuff. One time,
Taylor and I had a I forget the episode, but
it was like a Sabine and Ezra heavy episode, and
he was kind of like doing something over on the
other side of the you know, in his side of
the booth, and I was like, what's this guy doing?

(32:23):
And then like ten minutes later he comes out and
gives us two, like each of us a sketch of
us ourselves at the booth. Do you s don't have
the Taylor? And it was like a full like you know,
pencil sketch, like one of Taylor at his microphone and
one of me in mine, And I was like, what's
you were just just doodling over there and this is
what you know? Like the oulchemists, we.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
Were just boring him to death.

Speaker 3 (32:46):
That's what.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
Drove him.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
That's something I really forget and I think of fondly.
Is like us in the booth, like the times, Like
I remember, there was a certain times be like Okay,
today's a coffee episode.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
I'm going to do a coffee.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
Then they have great food. We would sometimes we would
like double up on stuff. And Vanessa had the is
it called a tartis inductor that it's like the bag
like Mary Poppin's back, like you have like every different
thing inside of it.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
I don't know where I'm grabbing tartists from.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
Well, doctor who? Doctor Who's the target right where.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
They can pull anything out of it?

Speaker 4 (33:18):
Basically, yeah, that's that's Vanessa's bag anywhere anywhere.

Speaker 6 (33:22):
Still to this day. Dude, I got you what do
you need?

Speaker 4 (33:26):
I got a cardigan? Are you hungry? I got a protein,
cocina banana, Like just what are you feeling ill? I
have some ibuprofen and like a sedative.

Speaker 5 (33:36):
I don't know, Yeah, nail file, glue, sewing kid us
got tired, you know. I guess I think I just
want to be ready for any crisis, and it kills
me if anyone anywhere is suffering on any level. I
just it's not that I'm trying to you know, you
feel your feelings. I don't need to change your mood.
But if I can solve your problem and I can

(33:56):
pull it out of my bag, I'm gonna do that.

Speaker 4 (33:59):
Yeah, it's very much appreciate it. I feel like I
was the chief beneficiary of said.

Speaker 5 (34:04):
That you mostly wanted turkey jerky, right, didn't I give
you a lot of turkey jerkey?

Speaker 4 (34:09):
You gave me a lot of a lot of stuff,
and mostly like I was always underprepared and it was
so cold in that in that booth that I was
mostly just like borrowing a shawl or a cardigan or whatever.

Speaker 6 (34:23):
I remember.

Speaker 4 (34:24):
Kind of you, I greatly appreciate it.

Speaker 6 (34:26):
We did have fun.

Speaker 5 (34:28):
I mean, I just I had all the feels just
watching what might be deemed with some of the more
insignificant moments in the episode of their teamwork. And even
though some of it was sort of scripted and we
read it, nothing can prepare you for when you see
it fully executed, with all the colors and the landscape
and the explosions.

Speaker 6 (34:46):
And the danger.

Speaker 5 (34:48):
The music sort of heightens the anxiety of, oh, my gosh,
are they even going to make it? And like, you know,
Canaan jumping, like oo, he just jumps onto the edge
of the spaceship.

Speaker 6 (34:58):
Like my man, look at this guy with his little
ponytail killing it.

Speaker 5 (35:04):
You know, Like I don't know, I just I really, yeah,
just I never thought i'd be watching it ten years later,
with all all the actual stuff that we've been through.

Speaker 6 (35:17):
It's just it's just amazing.

Speaker 5 (35:18):
It's hard not to feel very lucky to have had
the opportunity to execute that, and then also to just
keep enjoying it and keep meeting new, wonderful people as
a result of these stories.

Speaker 7 (35:30):
You bring up a great point about the music too,
because it's really in this episode, especially finding its footing.
It's always been the heartbeat. It's the music is the
heartbeat of any story telling, our movie, TV show, animated series,
but you feel like everyone's getting like their custom themes,
or certain moments are getting their custom themes. There's this composer,
Marcos Marcos Boltromi. He did the Scream sound. He was

(35:52):
a composer of a Scream and a bunch of stuff.
When you listen to the score of Scream and I
swear like, I'm like, what does a horror movie have
to do with this? When you listen, he has like
specific themes for people. It's not just the horror score.
It's like when this person shows up, it sounds like
this where even though Star Wars is known as like
a sci fi adventure, you know it's really a space Western,

(36:13):
and it feels like a Western in the way that
the Kinders put it together, which is very true to
what Sir John Williams put together, the great John Williams,
who was just nothing can touch John Williams. But at
the same time, the Kiners carved their own identity here,
and I alluded to that music qu when Kane is like,
how do you expect them to find Meyleu Ronan Coutal,
and it's this shot of Hara Hara in this little
michiev Do you know, It's like those little details, and

(36:37):
I would say the smallest of details make the you know,
lead to the biggest results. So what someone could like
think of as like an insignificant thing is really just
the building blocks to like what the show is and
what it leads to.

Speaker 3 (36:51):
I agree, yeah.

Speaker 7 (36:52):
Especially so there's this one line and I sing the
praises of you all quite a bit, but it's in
the beginning where as there was like, hey, you know,
if you ever need any inspiration, which, first of all,
I love that take on it, but the way, first
of all, I love how Taylor you delivered that line,
and Tia, I love how you deliver the rebuttal, which

(37:12):
is like you could have made a meal out of
the wall, be sure to look elsewhere. You could have
been really snarky about it, and I'm sure they made
you do it a bunch of times, but it's almost like,
and this is what you do a lot of times
on camera, you kind of throw the line away and it's
you almost kind of like like whatever you kind of
like that was kind of the tone of it, and
I felt like that's such a great way to go
about it, because I don't think Sabine's going to spend

(37:34):
that much time to give a rebuttal because she's focused
on her art that's more important than the moment. But
I just love the delivery because I love when actors
kind of throw a line of dialogue away, like Robert
Tunny Junior and everything.

Speaker 4 (37:48):
Well thanks, I mean I also, yes, she's busy and
she's focused on her art, which is of course like
paramount of paramount importance to her, but also like she's
not gonna bother give it Ezra any any more energy
than that, Like, sorry, no offense, Taylor, but you know,
like it's not it's not worth her time. She's busy,

(38:08):
she's got things to do.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
But I do.

Speaker 4 (38:11):
I do love when you know, Taylor drops in and
he's like, as there's like running away or like no
chasing after Chopper and oh.

Speaker 6 (38:20):
Well well hello there. It's so ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
Yeah, it happened a lot into it in four episodes already,
that's what.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
But this one's my favorite so far. Yeah, it's so
it's so uh overt, Yeah, no kidding, might say thirsty desperado.

Speaker 11 (38:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (38:42):
Someone I was watching with was like, does this end
up becoming a thing? And I was like, well, I
can't give anything away. But also I was like, google
the two character names and see that whole side of
the internet.

Speaker 4 (38:55):
Yeah, there's a fervent group there. Well, we could get
to that, John.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
So way to make that one feel weird?

Speaker 3 (39:05):
Yeah, what's all right? Making it weird?

Speaker 7 (39:06):
We like weird stuff, right, And we got seventy plus
episodes more to get there and other fan theories which
I'm sure we'll get from our fans writing into our email.
Maybe maybe we'll have a whole fan theory Friday thing
going on.

Speaker 6 (39:20):
Oh I love that.

Speaker 7 (39:21):
I think we need to have a segment called Vanessa's
Bag and maybe it's like your Bag of.

Speaker 6 (39:25):
Oh yeah, yeah, we have a new feature that I offer.

Speaker 7 (39:29):
We're just going to keep adding segments to this thing.
We're gonna have so many spin offs of this podcast.
I love the hearing stories of your Your Bag of
Tricks for record lack of a better term, because I'm
this is the way my brain works, Like, well, you
would put mcguiver out of a job in the like
in the cold open at the show if I take
this paper clean so well, actually mcgiver, I already had
this thing and problem solve. He's like, well, all right,

(39:52):
I guess I'll just cut my mullet now, I don't know.
So I love hearing stories about the magic bag of
Vanessa Marshall.

Speaker 6 (39:58):
It continues.

Speaker 5 (39:59):
I mean, when we're at Yeah, I do announce it
to the crowd, like, look, I know I don't want
anyone getting low blood sugar at the event. Today, you
guys are waiting in line, I really care about you,
and they call me space mom, and they do come
up to my table.

Speaker 6 (40:12):
They're like, I feel kind of weak, and.

Speaker 5 (40:15):
I'm like, here, take this, here's a bar you keito, okay,
hold on, and you know, I like, you know you
don't do sugar, no problem and whatever whatever. Oh you
need carbs, I got you. You know, I feel a bit,
you know, I'd give them a cough drop whatever it is.
But so it it's it wasn't just in the booth.

(40:35):
It literally I'm saving America, one child at a time.

Speaker 6 (40:39):
What can I say?

Speaker 5 (40:40):
No, you know, I also want to point out I'm
grateful that we got a love. Yes, love, we got
a love. Harad used to say, all right, love blah
blah blah. She used to say love a bunch in
the first season.

Speaker 4 (40:52):
I've forgotten that.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
Yeah, I thought it was so dear and people tried
to make a meal out of it, but I think
it it wasn't meant to.

Speaker 6 (41:02):
Be like hey, love but no, not at all.

Speaker 5 (41:05):
Yeah, it was just it was such a lovely term
of endearment that kind of evaporated after season one.

Speaker 6 (41:10):
But when I heard I was like, oh, I remember
when she said that. That was so sweet.

Speaker 4 (41:15):
That's too bad that it evaporated.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (41:18):
Well, I think they also didn't want the Canara love love.

Speaker 6 (41:25):
Vibe thing to go. Isn't that what they shipped for that? Yeah.

Speaker 5 (41:30):
I think they were trying to turn that down a bit,
and that love kind of made it. I mean, I
think they just wanted us to discover that eventually.

Speaker 6 (41:41):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 4 (41:42):
No. So I also think in the times that you've
said it so far up until this episode, I think
you say it once to zeb in this episode, but
every other time it has been to Canaan. So maybe
they were trying to like pump the brakes on that,
and I think, but but it never sounds like uh

(42:04):
to me. No, it feels it is. It encapsulates that
space mom vibe that you're it's just alar, which is.

Speaker 2 (42:10):
Exactly what I was coming through.

Speaker 4 (42:12):
With you know family, oh hey, go oh my god,
like the Fonds.

Speaker 7 (42:22):
Anyway, it's got Henry Winkler on this podcast too. While
we're at we're going to keep throwing names out there,
and because Henry Winkler would be amazing just in anything,
but especially our part. So Henry, you're listening, because I
know you are. What else would you be doing? But
I do love that we're seeing this kind of the
parental figureness of Canaan and Hara and this and even

(42:43):
when Kane is like, well it's so much quieter without
the kids here, and when you both look like these
empty nesters that are just getting to relax and you know,
just in the in the living room without any along yeah,
until you have to call, which I I love that
because to see zebn Ezra kind of a grasp into
like the kid mode when you hear Knny go you
did what you know, it's like, I'm sorry, we did this.

(43:05):
It's it's the red and the blue. Come on, that's
I can't do a Freddy impression. That's his clzy.

Speaker 6 (43:10):
Yes you can. That was pretty good.

Speaker 3 (43:11):
Oh was it all right? Well, Preddy, I can do
your ADR two. I guess so.

Speaker 7 (43:16):
But we're just like I said, these first we're in
four episodes in now of Rebels and we got seventy
plus to go. But we're just getting all these little
details that are going to lead to such like a
great finale when we get there. And but I love
seeing like little by little, this this hair and Canaan dynamic.
You know, we're not giving it all the way, but

(43:37):
like I remember watching like I want these two to
be a thing because I grew up a Star Trek
fan as well, and I know James T.

Speaker 3 (43:44):
Kirk loves his Green Alien.

Speaker 7 (43:45):
So I'm like, come on, Canaan, like I know, just
just you know, just do it, Just do the whole thing.
Come on, just do the guys. But luckily we again,
we'll get there. We'll talk about it.

Speaker 6 (43:54):
Yeah, hold the phone.

Speaker 3 (43:56):
Break, I had to thought myself. I was like, wait
a minute.

Speaker 4 (44:00):
Yeah, a long way to go.

Speaker 7 (44:03):
And a lot of the other things that you see
with Star Wars is you know, not to get too
close to real life, but there is some sort of
light commentary on there's societal themes and whether that's directly
parallel to what's going on. I'm not going to say
go there right now, but there are themes that go
on and you see that here with mister Sumar being

(44:24):
forced out of his home and this empire ruling with
the iron fists and all this stuff.

Speaker 3 (44:30):
And that's the other beauty of art.

Speaker 7 (44:32):
I'm not going to dive into the motives behind that
because I can't speak on that obviously, But art isn't
just escapism. It is our way to express ourselves freely
and openly, and like what Taylor allude to, like you
are your character. Like I have a friend of mine
who is asked a question like how much you use
this character in regards to a character you played on
the show, and he said, it's all of me, you know,

(44:54):
because you have to bring all yourself and just like storytellers,
it's all you, and it's like your safe space to
tell that. And that's the beauty of Star Wars as well,
because when you watch a New Hope, there's clear commentary
on what was going on in the world and what
George was saying. But through the magic of the Force
and on Solo, the Skywark, all this stuff, it's the

(45:15):
same thing going on here. So that's that's the other
beauty of artists, not just to escape. I think escapeism
is kind of the bonus feature, but really at the
core of it, you get these great indirect and sometimes
direct commentary. So I thought we saw this. It's pretty
evident in these first four episodes, but this one especially, Yeah,
very well soon.

Speaker 1 (45:32):
I think that's one of the coolest features of Star
Wars is the commentary that you can see throughout. I
think it makes it really special that it's taking place
in this faraway galaxy where people don't necessarily look like
us as much, but it very much show mirrors our nature.

Speaker 4 (45:49):
And how interesting without you know, getting into specifics, but
how interesting that something like a new Hope or you know,
like the original trilogy and the subject matter that that
was a commentary on how that can be like applicable
to other times and other situations, and you know it's uh,

(46:14):
art imitating life or life imitating art. But yeah, that's
very high praise to say that this kind of has
any like it that you like in it in any
way to your original trilogy or and you hope.

Speaker 7 (46:26):
The beauty of Star Wars is that's in a lot
of ways so timeless or yeah, these are made in
the era they're made in, but you watch it at
any point like this is the themes in those are
recurring themes that just happened.

Speaker 4 (46:39):
Yeah, sorry, that's what I was trying to say. I
don't think you said it very eloquently. This is what
I meant.

Speaker 3 (46:43):
I'm just piggyback in what you said.

Speaker 7 (46:45):
You you led me there, So that that's again our
Meisner technique were feeding off each other and everything. All right, everybody,
So if there's not anything else, I think it's time
for our favorite segment.

Speaker 3 (46:56):
If that checker JC. What do we got, man?

Speaker 12 (46:59):
I have I have some fun stuff today. First thing
I clocked. The Imperial Troop Transport was originally a Kenner
toy from nineteen seventy nine, and that makes its first
canon appearance in anything Star Wars. It was a toy
that was invented by the toy company Wow, and Dave
Filoni loved it and so we put it into the show.

(47:22):
We talked a bit about de Jerk, which is also
known as Holo Chess in the episode. I don't know
if you guys realize, but each of those monsters have
their own names. So in the episode you see a
Kinton Strider Kill who jicks, and then Kanaan brings out
a Mantellian Savarep to try to fight, who also gets

(47:44):
beat up by the Kinton Strider. As far as rules
of De Jeric, they're the first kind of time that
you could play that. There was a VR game called
Jedi Challenges that came out in twenty seventeen that used
your cell phone as an ar representation of the Holy
Chess Board, but they also sell it at Galaxy's Edge noow,

(48:06):
so if we want to play, we can go down
to Disneyland and figure that out down there.

Speaker 3 (48:11):
Hello.

Speaker 12 (48:13):
The other thing that I clocked to this episode that
I thought was really interesting is Ezra throws with his
left hand.

Speaker 1 (48:19):
I saw the same thing. I was like, as was
left handed. That's what I said to my friends, like,
that's a very interesting thing.

Speaker 12 (48:23):
So I thought that was interesting. We'll see if that
stays consistent for the rest of the episodes. But yeah,
he started off at least left handed. Here something that
we missed on episode three. But we were talking about
a little bit this time, Taylor. You brought up that
zeb was the original Ralph McQuary concept for Chewbacca. Last episode,

(48:45):
we see the McQuary concept for C three po in
the in the shuttle with them at the back when
we first Yeah, and then even the stormtrooper design is
kind of lifted from Ralph McCrory. Uh in Rebels As Is.

(49:08):
You guys mentioned McCrory using Lothol and the artwork from
Lotholl that was Aldera or Alderra City on Alderan from
Ralph McQuary's concept drawings way back in the day there,
So you guys hit on that. Chewbacca's height We discovered
it throughout the course of the episode is seven foot six,

(49:30):
Wemby is seven foot three, and the low Prez Twins
are seven feet tall, so Chewbacca still has three inches.

Speaker 4 (49:41):
Alright, somebody how Chewbacca's hookshot is?

Speaker 3 (49:46):
You know, I love.

Speaker 12 (49:48):
Another eighties watched Teen Wolf.

Speaker 4 (49:51):
John.

Speaker 12 (49:51):
I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Speaker 3 (49:56):
The greatest basketball movie ever.

Speaker 7 (49:57):
I'll just say I don't think it's a hot or
maybe it is, but I'm just gonna say.

Speaker 12 (50:02):
And then it seems as if everybody's a really big
basketball fan. So I thought i'd throw this out there.
I was working on a documentary a million years ago.
It never came out about sports and Star Wars, and
when I was doing my research. One of the things
I discovered was that Kobe Bryant's nickname in junior high

(50:24):
in the beginning of high school was Kobe Wan Kenobi.
And Kobe was a huge Star Wars fan.

Speaker 4 (50:33):
And after.

Speaker 12 (50:36):
His Kobe Wan Kenobi and supposedly after the ankle injury
that was supposed to have ended his career and he
missed an entire season, plus the music that he returned
to the court to was the Imperial March by Star Wars.

Speaker 4 (50:53):
Sure, Star Wars Sick, You're gonna get me all on game.

Speaker 3 (50:59):
We love the Mamba, So I'm in.

Speaker 2 (51:02):
Wow wow again absolute fact check.

Speaker 4 (51:09):
I mean that one that that really got me with
that one, j C.

Speaker 7 (51:14):
With that, I got to go so Geenie, but I'm
friendly with Jeanie Buss, who is, of course the governor
of Lakers. I got to get her on here with
that because because she's also a big comic book fan,
and I wonder, I don't know, I'm sure Jeanie knew that,
but I feel like Genie, maybe that's a cool little
trip down memory.

Speaker 3 (51:31):
Wow, that's one that just sick.

Speaker 4 (51:35):
Well oh wait, I don't mean to interrupt you, j
if you okay, Well, for our listeners who may not
already know this. One of your podcast hosts is also
like a baller, right, Taylor Gray.

Speaker 3 (51:50):
I am.

Speaker 2 (51:52):
Better than Kevin Durant.

Speaker 4 (51:55):
If you like and if you like basketball movies that
happened to Kevin Durant in them. What's the name of
your movie.

Speaker 2 (52:02):
It's called Thunderstruck.

Speaker 4 (52:03):
Yeah, it's called Thunderstruck, and you should check it out
on whatever streaming app it's on.

Speaker 2 (52:09):
I think it's HBO.

Speaker 7 (52:12):
Well, that's gonna be one of our bonus episodes. We're
gonna deep dive into Thunderstruck the movie and also when
we do our bonus episode, Taylor, well, well, we'll get
into that a little.

Speaker 4 (52:23):
Bit and then you can call Kad maybe yea, yeah.

Speaker 7 (52:27):
That'd be awesome. We're gonna get all the NBA players
on basically, Hey, why not, I'll take that. So uh well,
we made it through another episode.

Speaker 3 (52:37):
Everybody.

Speaker 7 (52:37):
I'm loving this so much, and I love hanging out
with you all and talking to you all, and it's
it's good. It's I'm a natural like introvert, so but
I'm very comfortable around you all obviously, and good.
