Speaker 1 (00:08):
Misspelling with Tory Spelling and iHeartRadio podcast. Okay here we
are me and my misstepping partner.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
OMG, it was Easton.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
It was the twenty year birthday party for Dancing with
the Stars last night.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
I just started watching this show. I am so new
to this fandom, but watching the open, watching this, I
got so emotional and I felt like I've been a
fan for twenty years. I loved it. I thought it
was an incredible birthday.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Oh, I love that. I think you were just like,
very emotional because you've been traveling and working so much.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
I cried twice during the show.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
I'm not gonna lie. I'm not gonna lie. So little
known fact. Obviously we're big fans of the show. We're
doing a podcast this season about it. So we were
supposed to perhaps go last night because they had all
of their stars back from all thirty four seasons.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
But we didn't end up going.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
There was a work conflict, and I remember the other
day you said, oh, I'm going to be really bummed
if this doesn't work out, because what if Charro is there?

Speaker 2 (01:19):
And Charro was there.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
I screamed at my TV. I screamed, I'm.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
Like You're like, oh, I could have been me of
all the.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Of all the four hundred celebrities that have participated, she
got like center frame Charo right.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
There, and you literally called it.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
You're like, wow, if we go, we could be sitting
next to Charles and my friend.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
That could have been USD.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
It could it could have been two D seats.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Two weeks left. We're going to get to that ballroom,
I promise you.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
I hope so. I want to see it so badly.
Uh yeah, you know this. Knowing that they invited everybody,
I was. I mean, you're always looking in the crowd
during the show, like to see who's there, but like
this one, I was really like scan in trying to
see who I could spare.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Oh my gosh. Wait, and there were pros there from
all seasons. Oh my gosh. I was sad. Max wasn't there.
Fowl's brother.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Yeah, I was surprised.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Maxim Peda. Where were Max and Peda?

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Yeah? Those are like superstars.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Oh I love them. They're such good human you would
have you met them.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
I have met Max, I have not met Peta.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
They're both really rad and fun to hang out with. Okay, wow,
Week nine, we're at week nine. So Tom burg are On.
I was so excited to see him that I've met
this man so many times in real life, and god,
is he termed the pants off of you or squirt

(02:49):
off of you or Bloomers or skims Murkin, whatever you
got on he charms it off of you because he
is just He's that guy. He brings so much energy.
And I was like, oh, part of me was like,
has he gotten older? And then I was like, you
know what, but I don't care. He is such the
energy and it made me sad that he's not like

(03:12):
on the show anymore.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
To be honest, Yeah, like you know, for me, like
I've only experienced Tyra Banks and Alfonso Ribero, so like
I had never really watched it all right, but I
seen him come back. He came out on the stage
and my wife and I looked at each other, going like,
I'm so glad he's back. I've missed him so much.
I'm like, I've never seen him host the show before,

(03:34):
but he has such a great energy and he loves
the show so much. You can just tell right away.
I loved I loved everything about Tom burd On being
part of.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
This same and you know, what.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
He's so insightful because he does see the show so well.
And I got to be honest, love my Alfonso, love
my Julian, but like sometimes they go a little fast
because they're trying, you know, they have a job to do.
And I feel like him and the middle, like even
in the beginning he kind of calmed them. They were
both like guys here and the three of them. It

(04:06):
flowed rad and in future seasons. So he made a
comment later in the show, bring back the result show? Yes,
and I know you being a new fan, me being
a fan of all sorts through the ages, I remembered
results show, but I can't remember what is that?

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (04:25):
The the audience went crazy when he said.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
That, Yeah, I know, it's a thing they used to have,
so h.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
The results show. I believe I'm looking this up right now.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
I didn't need to put you on the spot. No, no,
I was excited.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
There was because he was saying something like what the
entire country vote or something like that, because because like
a problem with Dancing with the Stars is only the
East Coast really gets to like vote while the show
is happening, you know, so it was really not fair.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
I mean, well, technic West Coast can vote but based
on nothing.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Yeah, yeah, just based on how much you like the person.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
So ten times you know you got nothing base it on.
I wonder if they would compilate the East coast West Coast,
and then the next week, at the very top.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Of the show, the person gets voted. No, I can
jump in and tell you real quick, please tell us
please please no.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
I mean I don't remember it specifically, but it was
usually the next day they had an hour long episode
instead of two hours, and they sort of just like
did the results, I believe, kind of throughout the show.
Sometimes they would be like, oh, we can say that
this person is safe, and then they would do another
Bottom three and then an elimination, but they would have
other dances and stuff going on.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
You just gave me chills. You're right. It used to
be a two nine events.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
And a lot for a bigger voting window, and they'd
chow it behind the.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Stands and with the stars. They deserve a two night event.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
Yeah, I mean, they keep saying the ratings are like
higher than ever every night and they break voting records.
Why not people want it? Uh, we can see one
less episode of the Bachelor and instead of that's somewhere
about the stars.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Well Tom Tom, Tom's like, I don't care, I'm saying
it right to camera. They can air this, bring back
the Results show. Okay, maybe next year and maybe he
hosts that one boom okay.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
So uh yeah, this was so much fun. I really
enjoyed this, like anniverse reach. I'm such a sucker for
this kind of thing, but it was. It was so great.
Uh the opening number, the opening number so emotional. It
was with the original like some original pros in that
opening uh number, I'm there. There are some of these names,

(06:45):
Alec Mazo, Ashley del Grosso, Louis van Amsell, I know
that guy who uh, Jonathan Roberts, Charlie Jorgensen.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
And.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Edda I don't feel confident that name, but but some
classic names from Dancing.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
With the And then Julianne was there because she's an
ex pro. Yes, Derek was there x pro Like love
watching them, nervous the whole time because I'm like, wow,
I know Juels is going to have to go right
in to her like she has some a lot of
technical stuff to say.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
I'm like, isn't she going to be out of breath?

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (07:23):
I'm worried.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Yeah, Tom was ready to say the whole like voting
window now open and us and his territories. But she
she she handled it. She took it away.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Wow, she's a rock star.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
It was so beautiful. And then they did a tribute
to all of the stars that have passed that have
been on Dancing with the Stars. It was very an
Academy Award moment.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
That was Oh my god, that that was uh I
I cried during that, specifically Shannon part.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Yeah, it was, you know, because.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Yeah, she wasn't acknowledged at the Academy Awards and while
dancing wasn't her thing. Like I was like, you know what,
great she's getting friends, spinner, She's getting honored here as
it should be.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
So I got emotional seeing that.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Yeah, and then they've closed it out with a tribute
to Lane Goodman, which is another such an emotional moment
for the show, and you can see and then they
cut to the judges after that. Not dry eye in
the house after that.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
No, len I used to love watching Lynn always in
his tuxedo, always so proper and just such a charismatic guy.
I'm lucky to have known him in my lifetime. And
what a beautiful soul. Seriously, I love the relationship with
the judges and the further we get into it.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
This season in particular, I'm really seeing their friendship that
they've had for years and that I like that.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
I like seeing it.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
I like seeing that Derek and Bruno are have like
a bromance and are besties.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Yes, I love when they're like.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
And Carrie and we're always throughout the year is going
to see when she's going to get so excited and
jump up and fall out of her chair.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
It's making them real to us and it's really ingratiating
them into our hearts forever.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Yes, I love it too. And because a lot of
times the judges have to deliver information that is not
you know, it's hard, it's hard to hear, and so
I really think it's important to like have this this
relationship and to be reminded like we're all kind of friends.
We're all here because we love dancing. That's that's why
we're here, right, And yeah, it's it's just it's fun

(09:42):
to see that side of it, because you don't get
that on all these other competition shows. You don't get
this kind of thing.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
This is true, and I.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
Guess as an actor and host myself in real life,
it's always nice to know that people have a real connection.
It's not just a job. Yes, and for me in particular,
I'm always looking. I'm like, oh, you know what, this
isn't just they're there to say something, they're doing their job.
I can tell these people actually love each other and
hang out in real life.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yes, I'm emotional today about this. Well see what the
twentieth anniversary brings out.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
And you this, uh, this almost made me as emotional
as the like dedication night. It's it's just just so
so much so. Yeah, great opening number. We love seeing Charro.
We got her right away, but then we got woman age.
Charo is very fun because she uh no one knows
how old she actually is. Uh like Angeline, Yes, it

(10:38):
is a it's a secret. And also who knows if
there's any official records being kept there, So Charle's an enigma.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
So Charro is special to me. She worked a lot
for my dad, specifically the Love Boat.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Yes, I've known her since I was a little girl,
and she was just very special to my dad, special performer.
And then when I got to do my show so
Notorious for VH one. I was like, bringing like kind
of special guest stars back. She came and did an
episode with me and this woman I'm telling you as

(11:14):
an adult. I was like, she looks the same age
as when I knew her when I was five and
now I'm thirty two.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Like it was wild. She's you follow her on TikTok.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
You know I need to I see her videos come up.
I got to interview her, yeah, like a few months ago. Yeah,
And she was so cool and so nice and did
you understand a word?

Speaker 2 (11:38):
She said?

Speaker 3 (11:39):
I understood enough. But the thing I was really pumped
about is like my relationship with Charo is. I was
a big Pee Wee's Playhouse guy. Okay, and she is
in the Christmas special and she's so funny in it,
and I just I was like, you know, do you
have any memories of like filming that? And she had
so many great Pee Wee Herman stories and it was
it was great. It was such a fun conversation.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
She did, great storyteller. Yes, I love that woman. Wait,
we should get her on the show. Yes, we should.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
Ever talk about Dancing with the Stars and Pee's Playhouse
there you go. So let's get into this here. It's
a twentieth anniversary night and we're starting off with Elayne
Hendrix and Alan Burston dancing a salsa. It takes two.
I really I love watching the rehearsals for Elaine because

(12:31):
I know what she is enduring and it's so inspiring
to see her in that rehearsal space, knowing she's just
an intense amount of pain, and it's like, and I
think about, like, I guess I could get up and
go to the gym, you know, like lazy.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Same.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
I was like, oh, I've gone through a lot too.
I have to cook for the kids tonight. I'm like, yes,
look at Alayne Hendricks.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Yeah I do.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
But let's take note that it's special this week because
throughout the twenty years, they are doing a dance inspired
by another dance that has happened on the show by
a pro and a star.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
Yes, and I was wondering how they were going to
work that into the like songs and anything. It's cool
and you know, then we we'll get to it later.
But then the relay, we were bringing back some Mirror
Ball winners to dance with them. It's so fun Elaine
and Alan dance to.

Speaker 4 (13:27):
Or.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
Their dance was inspired by a Mario Lopez dance a
freestyle from season.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
Three and Karina s Meronov. Yes, I mean she kind
of was the o G. I love Karina. She's rat
she had a dance studio.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
She still have it.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
We'll find out. Oh no, it's really fun to see
out old footage compared to like how the how the dance,
you know, the dancers that we're seeing now. It's it
was really fun. She does solve a dance studio on
Woodland Hills. Oh no, I know she does, and it's
permanently closed. I I'm sorry. She did have a dance
studio and her website's still up.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
So she's a badass. I love that. And I love Mario.
I've been friends with him forever.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
I feel it would be daunting to be like for
my pro to say hey, we're gonna do this inspired
by them, and watch the footage and be like, oh
my god, I have to live up to that.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
Yes, because that was like a winning dance, right that.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Was when you wanted that.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
Yeah, he was amazing.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
Uh And and Alan and Elaine's dance was great too.
The so many good. She's like, I'm not afraid to
do lifts even though I'm you know, I'm still have
this kind of like rid thing going on. But now
she got up in the air crazy spin.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
It was really fun.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
I've only seen Dan Yeallo do that before. Like how
do you say, like you get dizzy, like that's a
focus and then to come out of it.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
I know, it's really it's nuts that they pulled that off.
It was a really great dance. At the end, Alan
hit this like pose and he kind of like fell
over a little bit. And I didn't know if that
was like part of it or not, because I trust him,
but I trust him, you know, I'm like that had
to have been planned, but maybe it was it. I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
Wait, I don't even remember that.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
Yeah, he got on the ground and then he like
kind of like like you know, lost his balance a
little bit and fell backwards like a little flourish at
the end. It didn't affect their scores, though, My got
straight nines across.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
The board, which was great. I love that.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Carrion says the word to describe Aline Hendrix is resilience.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
Resilience, it really is.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
And the woman gets younger each week. Yes, like she
thrives in chaos.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
God yeah else like that. Yes, she she looked great.
She was in the Uh. I know that she was
wearing these like fringy kind of shorts and they looked
very similar to pants that Whitney Lovett wore I think
in week two.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
Uh, and I was it was a tool.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
I wonder if it was the same pants, they just
made them in shorts. But uh, she looked. Yeah, she
looked great. She's wearing this kind of open shirt with
this like a Yeah, she looked amazing as always.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
So I heard them talk about fringe on the show
because I remember Pasha at one point telling someone and
when they talked to the wardrobe design, they're like, if
there's a dance that's relevant where there's a lot of shaking,
They're like, give us as much fringe as possible because
I mean not that they're not doing it, but it
accentuates and it just pops every single move.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
Wow. I just got very like excited, like Bruno.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
Yes, Stalin, yes, you want to see it move, you want.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
To feel the motion, feel those fringe.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
It's so good.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
Yes, it's a straight nine. I mean this this week
the conversation gets so tight and so fierce, and we're
you know, we're getting down to the final few here.
But Robert Irwin and Whitney Carson another front runner. I
cried during this one. Oh my god, I cried dancing

(17:21):
fox Trot Footprints in the Sand by Leona Lewis and
inspired by his sister Bindy's dance from season twenty one,
and it was, yeah, this is another emotional dance to see.
And during the rehearsal, he gets a zoom caller FaceTime

(17:41):
call from Prince William.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
Wow, my favorite part of that whole FaceTime conversation is
afterwards and Whitney goes, what.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
Wait, wait, please tell me the connection here. I'm a
little confused, uh he So.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
The story they told was that Robert had committed to
being in uh I don't know what part of the
world before this charity that Prince William is involved in,
and he made the commitment thinking I'm not going to
make it very far dancing with the stars, like I
can definitely do that. By that by this point, like
I will have been voting okay, Robert, yeah, And I
was like, yeah, sure, pal, But that was the story.

(18:25):
And so then like you know, he had the Prince
call him in and be like, uh, hey, good.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Luck, pal, we miss over here, but uh oh my gosh, congrats,
fun fact over here my mom. Everyone thought my parents
always entertained. They never really did. When they moved to
the Manor, you know, the man Or, the big one.
The only party she ever threw was a she had
a party and like gala in honor of Prince Charles,

(18:54):
Prince William's father at the Manor.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
So I got to meet them.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
Wow, it's incredible.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
Were You're welcome. Everyone's like, we didn't need to know that.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Move on, d Yes, yes we do need to know that.
But yes, this was a hey called his twinkle toes,
twinkle toes.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Prince William, Prince Williams funny.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
Yeah, I like him, I like them. Yeah, the Royal
Seal of approval. Yeah, it was a This was another.
This dance was I wrote down elegant and beautiful. That's
what like stood out to me about this dance. It
was like more tears. I cried so much watching this

(19:37):
and like when he get like, you know, his sister
comes out and they got down, like they crouched down
together and kind of had this like very tender moment together.
It was. It was just such a beautiful dance.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
You know, I'm a stickler and fairness. Here I go,
here we go.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
So like dedication night, you got to have someone come
out with your partner and dance with you. This was
reminiscent a bit at the end, Bendy got to come
out with Robert and Whitney.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Is that fair to the rest?

Speaker 1 (20:09):
You know? Uh?

Speaker 3 (20:11):
I don't think so?

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (20:13):
And they get they got there. This is the first
straight perfect score of the season.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Which they deserved.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
Yes I'm not I'm not negating that Robert and Whitney,
even without the Bendi factor, I thought it deserved all tends.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
It was flawless, it was fluid, It was everything they
have asked him to work on to do. He was connected.
It was gorgeous.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
Of course, loved the video of him and his dad
and family coming up and then Bendy joining him.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
But yeah, yeah, I know what you mean.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
Yeah you mean you know they got the package with
the with the alligator like no one else got that.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
Yeah, he had two months of training before he was
the first announced.

Speaker 3 (20:55):
I'm just saying things are kind of little finger on
the scale. There from the news.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
Is he deserves to be where he is, he deserves
all ten.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
Yes, he's very very good. Something I kind of locked
in on this episode. There are two faces in this
season that I that I love so much, And those
two faces are Robert Irwin's active listening face. When the

(21:23):
judges are giving him critiques, he opens his eyes really wide,
his mouth goes open a little bit. Uh and uh
and I he has looks so locked in and I
love looking that face. The other one is watching Dylan
Efron receive praise. His eyes get, he smiles so big,
his eyes get kind of squeating.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
Another Robert Irwin. Okay, oh, I like this game. The
two my favorite Robert Irwin one.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
This gets me every time, and I want because of this,
I watch endless podcasts with him.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
And interviews, and I guess it's.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
You know, you always seeing the man cries always like
you're like, oh has a female You're like, oh, that
got me, But he always does, and he tries so
hard not to cry. Like when he's going to cry,
you see him kind of close his fist, look down,
crunched his mouth like just like crunching up his face

(22:20):
like no, everything not to cry. And when he has
those moments, I'm like, oh, buddy, my heart breaks. I
was like, it's just and then Whitney always grabs his hand.
Oh my, Whitney was very emotional during this. Yes, and
it's not often you see approach. So wait, are we
allowed to say yeah, we already said it.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
They got straight tends they built. He fell to the ground, correct.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
Yes, fell to his knees.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
Uh is awesome crying. This is a woman who was
won a mirror Ball before she she is in it.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
She yeah, she's And I mean, how exciting to think
that they the potential for two merror Balls in the
same family and a very high likelihood that that's going
to happen.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
Wow, I think jeans.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
They really do something something in the water for those irwins.
They did a great job. Next up, we got Andy,
the People's Princess. Andy Richter and Emma Slater dancing a
quick step to Putting on the Rits made me think
of Young Frankenstein. That was a fun song.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
Uh you know what I think of Putting on the Reds.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
What's that?

Speaker 1 (23:30):
One of my favorite movies? And there it's bringing it
back sequel Spaceballs?

Speaker 3 (23:36):
Oh yes, yes, I did think it says, well.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
Oh sorry mel Brooks, Like, okay, AnyWho.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
It's so good Milbrooks loves to put on the reds right, yeah,
both there we go. Uh yeah, this this was a
you know, this is a fun one to watch.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
I I I know that, you know.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
And he's got some like interesting energy around everything, and
like I know a lot of people are frustrated with
how far he's made it. I think he's just gotten
so good and this was his best, in my opinions,
is his best dance yet. I thought we agree it
was his best.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
I was.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
I was looking at the feet on this one and
me too. They're doing a quick step. For anyone that
doesn't know it is quick. This step.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
It is so complicated and so hard that you don't
have time to even think about where your foot's going.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
You got to move, move, move, and you know what,
he was moving.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
Moving so fastly.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
I was looking correctly, like I know, it looked correct.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
Yeah, so so much lighter on his feet, so much
more movement. I such incredible improvement. I was really when
I saw this, I'm like, oh my god, he I
would be I would not be mad if he went
the whole way I really like, I think it would
be fun if he went down to like the final
or something. I know.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
I feel like at this point in the program, we're
all watching him. We're all torn.

Speaker 3 (25:05):
Yeah, I know. Yeah, it's great, and the judges loved
you know, he got the like lower scores. There's a
lot of really high scores this episode. Yeah, so you know,
almost straight sevens. But everyone had great things to say
for it.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
I was surprised. I thought they were going to go
a little higher.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
Yeah. I was surprised by that too, because he has
to show an incredible improvement, which is a big part
of this show.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
And I love and I've said this before, but through
the dances, I can watch Emma championing him on and
just encouraging him and calling out you know.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
The steps or whatever it is. But she is such
a brilliant.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
Pro Yes, and I'm really glad he got to work
with her because she's really special.

Speaker 3 (25:49):
Yeah, they are such a good match. So like, Andy's
so lucky to have her because she's just such a
such a kind and gentle person, and so so much
love there in that partnership. I really love.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
Oh my gosh, definitely, But I feel like what they
were saying, it's true. Andy Richter looks very sexy.

Speaker 3 (26:10):
Yep, he does.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
He is aging backwards on the show, which happens like
you start to feel good inside it shows outside, because
I believe when you're you work on your confidence on
the inside. I was talking to my brother about this
the other day. That externally, and it seems kind of
like a shallow thing to say, it really does exude
on the outside. He looks younger, he looks happier, he

(26:33):
looks more confident.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
What a babe, total babe. Yeah, and we'll you know,
we'll get to it later on, but we get to
see a little bit more of Andy later in the
in the show, and I'm really excited about that. Yeah,
this was a really fun to want to watch. I
really enjoyed that. Dylan Ephron and Danielle Cader gosh, here's
your faith. I yeah, I love him both so much.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
You know.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
Something that trips me out because I don't hear Danielle
speak that often, Like in the packages, she speaks, but
not a lot. And I always expect her to sound
like to sound like uh Natasha from Brockian Bullink or something.
I expect her to have like a super thick Russian accent,
and she just I mean, I think she's born in America.
Like she she just sounds like an American person.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
Totally is not.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
It's so interesting because having gotten to know her so well,
she talks like a lot.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
She's really super cool.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
She's really funny, like out of Pasha and Danielle, Like
Danielle is totally the funny one. She has a badass
sense of humor. But I always loved in rehearsals where
Pasha does have an accent, Neela doesn't. And then like
she would come in and like you know, they'd be
talking and everything to be cool with me and Da
da da, and then she'd be talking about like their

(27:48):
kid and his mom putting them the kid's bed and everything,
and they go into Russian like and I'd.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
Be like, oh my god, this is so sexy watching
me too, look at this.

Speaker 4 (28:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:01):
Yeah, she she grew up in Brooklyn. She's from New
York City. So but yeah, anyway, that's something that always
trips me out about Daniella. But uh, they so they
danced in Argentine tango to Ain't No Sunshine by Bill Withers.
They so a lot of the packagers talking about like

(28:22):
getting into character and Dylan's challenge with you know, taking
on like becoming an actor basically for for this type
of dance, which his brother is obviously very adept at,
and he did not go in that path like that's
not an actor. So it was really fun to watch
him to kind of face that challenge and oh my god,

(28:44):
what a what a challenging dance.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
Well, I mean it is.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
I mean, you didn't you didn't want them, but Miles
Mannheim was incredible and everyone knows him from Zombies and
Cameron Mannheim's son, which I was blown away by.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
I'm like, what that's my generation? Oh my god. He
is so talented.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
And Dylan does bring that up like that his brother's
an actor, Mila's an actor, like Milo can postform and
was such an amazing dancer.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
So it was big shoes to step into dancing shoes.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
Huge shoes. They did such an incredible job. It was
like like there's a part in the beginning where Dylan
holds up Danielle and she's like swimming kind of like
he has her a horri Oh my god, it's just
the moves in this dance were so incredible. I watched
this one twice. It was so fun to watch.

Speaker 2 (29:41):
I'm getting chills right now. It was my favorite dance
of the evening.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
Danielle is such a talented choreographer, I mean being nominated winning,
like like literally, but this was like next level and
I was and I loved how well she talks about
for later, how he really becomes the pro with his partner.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
But it's it's this. This dance for me was seamless.
It was watching two professionals.

Speaker 3 (30:11):
Yes, yes, these are two pros going at it. And
uh I because you know, we're getting down to it,
and I'm like, I really think it's going to be
between I keep saying in my head, like it's gonna
be it's between Whitney Levitt and Robert Irwin. And now
I'm like, Dylan has entered the finals. Conversation for me,
he's he is a major contender now, Dame yep, and

(30:33):
uh yeah, they got a they got a perfect score.
Another perfect score.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
It's an incredible Oh my gosh.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
Tom Bergeron said, hey, your brother is the actor that
you're the leading man. Oh man.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Tom always says the things, the right things. He is,
he's a leading man.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
He's a leading man.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
I want to see these two do more like after
he gets with the Stars, Like it's not just like
I want to see Daniella and Dylan have their own show,
I don't know, like a spinoff, Like I don't know.
I just enjoy watching them so much and I think
they're most talented.

Speaker 3 (31:10):
Yeah, they're so fun to watch.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
I can't wait to see their freestyle.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
Wait, they have not done a freestyle correct, No, I
feel like final stuff is freestyle, like really like they've
done what's the one where you can do it?

Speaker 2 (31:24):
Starts with a.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
Sea contemporary contemporary, but freestyle is which Daniella is so
good at, is just like new like pop moves, and like,
I can't wait to see those two freestyle.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
You.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
Yeah, they're so fun to watch. And now another contender,
Jordan Chiles and Azra Sosa dancing at Chatcha to get
up by Sierra. This is inspired by Wayne Brady Whitney
Carson's freestyle from season thirty one and Winners. Yep, we're
all winners. This was like, this competition is getting so intense, yes,

(32:05):
and uh yeah, it's it's really like watching Jordan do this.
I kept thinking, like, like the the motions are so fluid,
and I you know, her gymnastics background is coming into play,
but she has just become such a skilled dancer. I agree,
It's yeah, it's this was another fun one to watch.
It's just like I keep I kept thinking like, oh,

(32:28):
Dylan and Jordan, they're gonna be like the next to go.
I thought I really thought Jordan was gonna go home
this week. Heading into this we haven't revealed yet, but
but going into this episode, yeah, I was like, it's
gonna be Jordan.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
I'm like Andy will be saved by the fandom and
Jordan will be getting.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
To that point.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
And you know what I really enjoyed last year. Last
season was Ezra's first season as a dance pro and
he only you know, got two dances, you know, one
of the two alumni at first, and uh, I love
that he's getting to put all his beautiful choreography to
skill this season. And yes, not only a talented dancer,

(33:09):
which we all knew, he's a really talented choreographer.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
And I'm really proud of him. I love that guy.

Speaker 3 (33:15):
Yeah, he's great. And you know, we keep saying like
it's it was such a shame we didn't get to
see more of him last season, and I'm so excited
he's making it so far and we get it. Like
I love him. I just love him so much. He's great.
Uh and I love their relationship too. I think they're
really they they clearly love.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
Each other great together. Yeah, he's sticking to it. So
last year he got a tattoo that said nothing in
honor of the first season what Anna Delby said when
she was eliminated.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
I wonder if he's going to get something for Jordan
this season, and what would it be?

Speaker 3 (33:48):
I know, is it Tina Turner? But better is any that.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
We'll see?

Speaker 3 (33:54):
Uh? So yeah, yeah, and they they're not perfect scores,
but up there a lot at one ten, one ten
from Derek Huff, Alex Earl and Vlischmerkovsky. God, these are
everyone is so good. It's just like I feel like
now every dancer have to be like this. This is
they could take it all the way. They could be
the contenders.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
But yeah, yeah, and they did a box trot and
this was inspired by a dance his wife choreographed, Yes,
Denna Johnson.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
From a season twenty nine Catfish's Neve Shulman.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
Right, I was like, who did she do it? Oh
my god? It was Oh my god, it's wild. Yes,
but that was that was cute.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
A little wink at their love story. Those two are
so in love by the way, Oh my gosh. Valan
Jenna always take a moment like before the show in between,
like it breaks and they're always connected.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
He will come over and kiss her and it's just
they have a beautiful love story. I love them singing
in the rain. Who has loved singing in the rains?

Speaker 3 (35:04):
This is great. I loved the like projection on the
on the screen of like New York City, and they
their costumes were great. I'm trying so like much like
we're watching the stars become skilled dancers and performers. I
am trying to come out of this as someone who
knows how to look at dancing. And I was watching

(35:25):
Alex's framing future yeah, as a as a dance judge.
That's what I'm hoping to become. I was watching Alex's
framing and like how she had her shoulders in her
arms and it I was like, she's improved. I see better,
more consistency there.

Speaker 1 (35:41):
I'm going to say it right here, through this show
and only this show. I have become a ginormous Alex
Earl fan. Yes, So when we went into this show,
I knew she was an influencer. You told me about her.
You were like, she's known for beauty, and so I
felt really silly saying it. So I didn't really I

(36:02):
was like, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I had no idea
who she was, never heard of her. I know she's
ginormous through watching her here. I have gone on deep
dive down rabbit holes. I really like this human. Like
I'm a big fan now, big alex Zirl fan me too.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
And I don't follow her. I don't watch her stuff.
I know very little about her. But one thing I
do know is that she there's a specific like selfie
light that she promotes.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
Or like she used really this, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
Oh, i'll send you the link. It's I'll send it
to you. I think new Moa, I think, but it's
like it's on Amazon. It's like twenty five bucks. Everyone
I work with at one of two point seven kiss
FM uses this light, and after watching Against with the Stars,
I bought it for myself. I have it right here
in my hand. I should have been using it this
whole time. I'm gonna strap it to my laptop. Here

(36:54):
there we go. Actually, I really should have been using
this for ogetting.

Speaker 1 (36:59):
Help the work wife out. I cannot believe you were
waiting to this far in the program. Tell me about this,
thanks pal.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
I'll send you the link to this light, the Alex
Earl light, which I only bought because I enjoy watching
her on Dancing the Stars.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
Wow, and it's a good light.

Speaker 3 (37:14):
You can cup on your phone up on your laptop.
Battery last a long time. Uh, just like how Alex
Earl is lasting a long time in this competition.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
I like short. Yes, I know it's pins and everything, but.

Speaker 3 (37:28):
She looks great. And like the costume guy, I love
the costumes. They looked so good. Now moving on to
another another potential mayor Ball champion, Whitney Levitt and Mark
Ballas dancing in Argentine Tango to sell boc Tango from
by Chicago.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
We all love this?

Speaker 1 (37:46):
Is this in your opinion? Another Mark Ballas bid like, hey,
pushing like.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
Broadway Broadway one hundred percent and that I love your
series here yes, and that has been cemented by the
announcement that he's going to be on the cast of
Trade yours. He like this man he's giving me in
the new season and Traders like, uh.

Speaker 2 (38:07):
There's a lot of people I want to be on
that show.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
You would do so well in that show, and I can't.
Have they asked you.

Speaker 1 (38:15):
They asked me first season and I had a conflict
and couldn't do it. And then Dina, who is my
friend who does all the casting and producing and dancing
with the stars, when I was there Lesti, I was like, Dina,
I need to be on Traders.

Speaker 2 (38:30):
And Phaeder was like, she'd be great on Traders and
she was like okay, okay, and then I still haven't
been well ran at that to our list place.

Speaker 1 (38:40):
No, No, I really want to be on it because
I feel like I'm great at the game of chess
in life. People like her, like she's so nice that
she's on a thread and they'll never see me coming.

Speaker 3 (38:52):
Toy spelling for Traders. You heard it here first, let's
get her on there?

Speaker 1 (38:57):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (38:57):
What this was? I thought from every episode so far
that Mark cut his hair.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
No, he's got the long hair.

Speaker 2 (39:07):
How do they hide it?

Speaker 1 (39:08):
And then I became obsessed because it's like slicked back,
like is it like under his shirt? Going down is
like a ponytailor something underneath?

Speaker 2 (39:15):
Where is it during?

Speaker 3 (39:18):
Yeah, I don't know how that's done. If it's like
a complicated bun or something. It's so it's so interesting
the science of the hair. But this this was a
dance inspired by Gaby Bachelorette Gaby Wendy and Volshborkowski's Season
thirty one freestyle, and my god, the again just incredible precision,

(39:40):
the leg movements, the rhythm, and watching this dance in particular,
I was like, this must have been so hard to
remember all these moves. I'm just there, like, how do
you do that? I know it's muscle memory to a
certain extent, you're like keeping rhythm. The music is helping,
but there's so much going on in this dance.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
Her control is.

Speaker 1 (39:58):
A beat, her rank is beyond her focus. I mean, ps,
I guess she's too young for the role. But I
was like, Whitney Love, it's going to Broadway, Mark Bows
like in some forms she's going.

Speaker 2 (40:11):
I mean, she'd be great in Chicago, but she's too
young for that character right now.

Speaker 1 (40:15):
So one day, but I mean, I can't believe this
human She is so locked in And he was saying
this dance, in particular of the Argentine tango, like you
have to be serious and focused and lead it and
be their aggressor.

Speaker 2 (40:29):
She blew me away.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
Incredible and the judges agreed straight tens across.

Speaker 2 (40:34):
The board and they love. I'm so happy. I love
with these these these stars and pros work so hard
and to see them get their just.

Speaker 3 (40:45):
Desserts, it's it's so it's so fun to watch.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
What dancing dessert would it be?

Speaker 4 (40:50):
I love dessert?

Speaker 2 (40:50):
Okay, anyway, got me too.

Speaker 3 (41:00):
So now we move on to the relay round, and
this was really exciting. We got to see some former
winners come back.

Speaker 1 (41:07):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (41:07):
So we have Elaine Hendrix and Rashad Jennings, who I
have met and he's the coolest guy in the world.
He's so rad such a great attitude versus going so
there the pros have left the building. This is the star.

Speaker 1 (41:22):
They don't dance with their stars, but they don't dance
the choreograph and teach them to sit on the sidelines
and a winning star comes back to dance with them.

Speaker 2 (41:33):
So you have two stars dancing, not two professional, not
one professional.

Speaker 3 (41:36):
It's great. It's so cool too, and dancing with George Child.
They danced a quick step to get.

Speaker 2 (41:45):
The same dance.

Speaker 1 (41:46):
Yes, So they start with one do theirs, and then
they slip off stage, the others come on and then
they vote for one to win the relay, and that's
it's this.

Speaker 3 (41:58):
Is a hard one to judge. It's it's really really hard.
They both especially that this this pairing, they both did
so well. Jordan and Apollo ended up taking it, but like, wow,
what a this is? This is really really fierce. And
then our next relay Dylan Efron and Rumor Willis, daughter

(42:19):
of Bruce Willis versus Andy Richter and bachelorette Caitlin Bristow
our friend yes who we know in love dancing a
Viennie's waltz who earned it by the weekend, And so
Dylan and Rumor went first, And when they finished, they

(42:40):
did this like kind of cool slide off the dance floor,
and I was like, is that is leaving the dance floor?
Is that part of it? Like, you know, I wonder
if you get are the judges looking at that, like
how do you exit the dance floor? Because I thought
that was a cool little flourish that they did, but
that it was it was fun to think about. And
he did a great Andy did a great job. And

(43:01):
this he ripped his shirt open. We got to see
his rock hard abs. His uh this studying physique has
been hiding from us the whole time.

Speaker 2 (43:10):
A right, that T shirt? Like what the heck?

Speaker 1 (43:15):
Like is that his merch did the costume department make it?
Where can I buy it?

Speaker 3 (43:20):
Like?

Speaker 2 (43:21):
Andy Richter has to sell this shirt like he's gonna
crush it? Right, yes, you know you want that shirt.

Speaker 3 (43:31):
I do want that shirt. And one of the judges
even said, like, you're gonna sell or maybe it was Alfonso.
Someone said like, you're gonna sell a lot of those shirts,
and he's not wrong. And then our third couple dance
in the.

Speaker 2 (43:44):
Wait we got to go back.

Speaker 1 (43:47):
Oh yes, just for one second. As much as I
love watching Dylan and Daniella Dylan and Rumor, I.

Speaker 2 (43:57):
Was swept away.

Speaker 1 (43:58):
I was so good And I know that it was
like this fantasy for one second in the ballroom where
I'm like.

Speaker 2 (44:06):
Look at these stars, I want to see them together.

Speaker 1 (44:09):
I know they both have partners and were like, but
I loved I thought they had extreme chemistry.

Speaker 3 (44:16):
Yes, I thought so too.

Speaker 2 (44:17):
They were super sexy together.

Speaker 3 (44:20):
I did not see the same chemistry from another couple
that's coming up.

Speaker 1 (44:23):
But uh yeah, And this is when Daniella she comments earlier,
and she says it again how proud she is because
he really became the leading man and the pro and
doing those lifts are not easy and doing it with
a non pro. I got to say, all of the
stars that came back, watching them kind of almost give

(44:45):
a little instruction.

Speaker 2 (44:46):
To the new stars. I was like, it was like
they were pros.

Speaker 3 (44:50):
They Yes, it was. It was incredible. It's incredible watch
the improvement of these of these stories. It's just amazing.

Speaker 2 (44:57):
It just beautiful.

Speaker 1 (44:58):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (45:00):
And then our third matchup here Alex Earl and the
most recent winner, Joey graz Day versus Robert and Irwin.
And I wrote down how to say the same Zochi Gomez,
who is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as America Chavez.

Speaker 2 (45:16):
Yes, and she was the winner of the year before,
I believe in season thirty two. Correct. Yes, and with
Val she and Val won.

Speaker 1 (45:26):
Which is interesting because Joey and Jenna won last year
and as we've talked about before, Val and Jenna were married.
So this was all a fun little like couple swap
always see another show here. So Soji I got to
meet last season because she was in the finale and
I got to meet her and I came.

Speaker 2 (45:46):
Back and what have you ever met her?

Speaker 3 (45:49):
I have not met her?

Speaker 1 (45:50):
No, my wife fan an energetic joy like she is
the coolest girl. But she what you see here, how
she's always and stuff.

Speaker 2 (46:01):
She is just good energy. And I think that went
really far in them winning here.

Speaker 3 (46:09):
Yes, I agree completely. Uh and wait and Joey, Joey.

Speaker 2 (46:15):
I love Joey. Obviously he was on my season, we
became friends. Loved the guy.

Speaker 1 (46:20):
But it was interesting that with the confidence he was like,
I'm famous for this kick, I'm gonna do this. Is
it gonna hit me in the face? No, boom hits
her in the face and rehearsal.

Speaker 3 (46:31):
Uh yeah. And clearly some issues after that, like like.

Speaker 2 (46:35):
They they didn't have it in the final one, right,
the kick?

Speaker 3 (46:39):
Yeah, they did not have the kick. And Alex brought
it up many times that she that he kicked her
in the nose.

Speaker 1 (46:45):
And keep in mind they film they film at twenty
four to seven, you guys, so if what they aired
her saying like my nose, they kid. She probably said
it fifty million more times. Yes, I was fearful because
at this point, I'm an Alex Earl fan. I'm I'm
a lifer and I love my nose. I love her face.

Speaker 2 (47:04):
And I was like, oh my god, not her nose. Wait.

Speaker 1 (47:06):
I mean, I guess she can go on to be
a dancer from now on, but she's known for beauty
and putting on makeup. What's gonna happen to her nose?

Speaker 3 (47:12):
Anything?

Speaker 1 (47:12):
Better? Nose?

Speaker 2 (47:14):
It knows.

Speaker 3 (47:16):
After we watched that, Allison was like, I don't like Joey.
I don't like He didn't seem too he didn't see
that remorseful for the nose near near nose breaking.

Speaker 2 (47:25):
Be sure, but he had his other famous move where
they rippiged off. He did that every.

Speaker 3 (47:32):
The first night I think of last season, I remember,
I remember, yes he did. And now we unfortunately, this
does have to happen. We do have to get to
our eliminations. They did not tease us this time. They
told us almost right off the bat that Robert and
Whitney are safe. We are not going to tease. And
it came down to what I really thought. I'm like,

(47:55):
this is a good bottom This is a true bottom three.
This is like potentially, yeah, who you will think goes home?

Speaker 2 (48:03):
Right? Bottom three?

Speaker 1 (48:04):
Jordan's Elaine Hendrix and the People's Princess Andy Richter. So
in this moment when you see the three of them,
you know what bothers me. So your placement with the
rest of the cast, that's your placement. But as they
are safe, I kind of want the others to move
so they're closer together.

Speaker 2 (48:23):
Does that make sense?

Speaker 3 (48:25):
Yes, I completely agree.

Speaker 2 (48:27):
But they don't. But they put them on the lineup.

Speaker 1 (48:29):
And when you watch the lineup, when you watch it,
are you just like looking back and forth because you
want to see everyone's face when they announce it?

Speaker 3 (48:36):
Yes, yes, I know. At sometimes I go back and
rewind and watch it and rewatch it over again.

Speaker 2 (48:41):
Who did you think was going to go home? Out
of the three?

Speaker 3 (48:44):
I thought it was going to be Elaine, I really did.

Speaker 2 (48:49):
I was cooking dinner and I literally was screaming, Oh no,
my friend, my new friend, Elaine Everards, is going to
go home tonight. I come on, calm down, mom. You
weren't even invested in this, invested in your season, like
calm down. I'm a fan of a podcast dancing.

Speaker 3 (49:11):
But unfortunately it is. It's Andy Richter through.

Speaker 2 (49:16):
I didn't think it was going to happen.

Speaker 3 (49:19):
I didn't think so either. I thought he was really
safe for another week.

Speaker 1 (49:23):
But you know what, next week it's the semi finals.
It it worked out for once, everyone got it right.
I think, yes, this is as it should be because
next week the semi finals.

Speaker 2 (49:36):
This is a whole new level. And you know, I
think he I think somewhere he knew he was going
home tonight.

Speaker 3 (49:44):
I think so too tonight. So that that's it. And uh,
next week is Prince Knight, the semi finals. It's getting heated.
This this competition is just heating up.

Speaker 2 (49:56):
It's going to be off the charts next week. I'm
super we're excited. Maybe we'll be there, who knows.

Speaker 3 (50:03):
Maybe. Well, thanks for joining us, everybody, of

Speaker 2 (50:06):
Course, we love you guys, and we're gonna miss step
out of here.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
