Speaker 1 (00:01):
Morning Run with Amy and TJ and iHeartRadio Podcast. Good
morning everyone, and welcome to Morning Run. It's Monday, November seventeenth.
I'm Amy Robots and I'm TJ Holmes.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Hope you had a good weekend. I was asking right
before we started, what's some happy news? We wanted to
start on an upbeat, and yes there's some good travel news,
but also why not go with the Georgia Bulldogs big
win over the Longhorns over the weekend. It was a
great college football weekend again, Bulldogs back in.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
The top five, number four.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Right.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
It's a happy note, is it not.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
It was one of my favorite headlines I saw when
I woke up this morning that UGA is now in
the top five.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
We're back, baby, We're back.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
We watched that game, so it was a big weekend.
But a lot of people got to see college football
this weekend that didn't the weekend before because Disney and
YouTube TD reached a deal. So we'll give you some
details about that on this Monday as we get started.
As always, top right corner of that Apple podcast app
hit subs Subscribe, It says follow You can subscribe here.

(01:00):
You can get all the updates that are coming your
way from US. But a big update, for sure. A
big headline is about air travel. The headline is that
air travel is back to normal. We have to put
normal in context, Robes. What we're talking about now is
that you can go back to blaming the airlines instead
of Congress for your flight delays and cancelations. And that's

(01:23):
a positive. Robes. Now your headaches are not shut down related.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
The FAA has lifted its shut down related air restrictions,
and certainly that's a sign that some headaches might be
easy for you travelers. But airlines are no longer now
required to cancel a certain percentage of flights every day.
That's a move the FAA said was necessary because of
the shortage of air traffic controllers during the shutdown, AKA

(01:49):
a lot of them were calling out sick, and some
of them not doing it because they didn't want to
come to work, but because they had to find other
ways to pay their bills.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Yeah, so things started trending in a positive way last
week of them stops a lot of those call out
sick calls because word came that a potential just the
idea of a potential deal in DC to in the
shutdown started to turn things.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Around, that's right.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
So cancelations were supposed to go up to ten percent
by the end of last week, but we never got
to that.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Thankfully.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
They capped it at six percent and then cut it
down to three percent before eventually officially lifting all the
restrictions as of six a m. On Sunday. We flew
on Sunday, and I don't know, it seemed to goat Yeah,
it was.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
It was our expectations were too high for whatever reason.
We thought shut down over and moods and attitudes and
things were going to be different. It was just as
intense on all sides. And you know what, the airport
was chaos in terms of the security lines and people.
It was a big mess than I've seen in a while.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
It was, And we thought maybe the TSA agents would
maybe be all smiles because some of them were getting
bonuses for showing up to work and they were getting paid. Again,
didn't seem to trickle down to the folks we ran
into at least, But who knows.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
They're the ones that found out, oh they were two
days short of getting the bonus.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Maybe that's what I all.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Right, Continuing on the run here now a major reversal
and about face a U turn a one eighty. You
get the idea. What we talked about here, we talk
about President Trump. He has made a major change of
tune about the Epstein files.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Right, so he's now telling Congress go ahead, vote on
releasing the Epstein files. Andy says he fully supports the effort,
writing this on social media last night. House Republicans should
vote to release the Epstein files because we have nothing
to hide and it's time to move on from this
Democrat hoax perpetuated by radical left lunatics in order to

(03:44):
deflect from the great success of the Republican Party, including
our recent victory on the Democrat shutdown. He goes on,
the House Oversight Committee can have whatever they are legally
entitled to. I don't care in all caps with an
exclamation point. All I do care about is that Republicans
get back on point, which is the economy affordability. Let's

(04:05):
not fall into the Epstein trap, which is actually a
curse on the Democrats, not us.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Trying to redirect if you will, like knock yourself out,
you all of the ones that have something to fear
about what's in the Epstein files. Okay, try this strategy now. Now,
all this comes after months of pushback from the White
House in its effort to keep Congress from voting on

(04:32):
the release of the Epstein files, and that vote is
expected this week as early possibly as tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
All right, next up on the run, President Trump has
directed the Justice Department to investigate Epstein connections to high
profile Democrats, and Pam Bondy has now publicly acknowledged she
understands her assignments.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Yeah, he wrote this over the weekend. I will be
asking Pam Bondy and the Justice Department to investigate Jeffrey
Epstein's involvement and relate reationship with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers,
Reid Hoffman, JP Morgan Chase, and many other people and
institutions to determine what was going on with them and him. Now,

(05:12):
some people might not recognize a couple of those names.
Larry Summers served in what the Obama Yes, and the
Biden administration, but no Clinton and the Obama administration. Read
Hoffman is a big time donor. I believe Larry Summers
also was the head of Harvard for a little while.
But again he's pointing to people who are roman a Democrats,
prominent folks who have given the significant money and contributions

(05:36):
to the Democratic Party, and of course he led there
with robes Bill Clinton.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Yes he did so. Here was Pam Bondi's response. We're
on it. She replied to it with her own social
media post stating she has assigned a prosecutor to take
the lead and they will be pursuing it with urgency.
Although it should be noted, one of the big headlines
from the Epstein emails that have been released, and there
are so many to keep track of, clearly states Jeffrey

(06:01):
Epstein in an email that President Clinton never ever has
ever been to the island, despite what all the other
reports were. So the email I saw actually was very
much so, exonerating Clinton from any sort of connection.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
But we shall see, all right. Continuing on the run
here on this Monday morning, first Elon and now Marjorie.
President Trump is going through another very big, messy public
breakup with someone who was so closely politically aligned to him.
This is Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
She has been one of his staunchest enthusiastic supporters for
years now, and the President gave her the full treatment
over the weekend, calling her a trader, pulling his support
from her, and yeah, as he likes to do, he
gave her a nickname. He did all of this in
a series of true social posts over the weekend. He
was busy on social media this weekend.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Yeah. In one of them, he said, I am withdrawing
my support and endorsement of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green. Congressman
is in quotes? Why was that?

Speaker 3 (07:02):
Okay, It's like she's not really I don't know.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Okay, anyway, it was in quotes, but Congressman Marjorie Taylor
Green of the Great State of Georgia, over the past
few weeks, despite my creating record achievements for our country,
all I see, wacky Marjorie do is complain? Complain? Complain.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
He goes on to suggest that their fallout is the
result of him being honest with her about her political prospects.
He said this, It seemed to all begin when I
sent her a poll stating that she should not run
for senator or governor. She was at twelve percent and
didn't have a chance unless, of course, she had my endorsement,
which she wasn't about to get. She has told many

(07:42):
people that she is upset that I don't return her
phone calls anymore. But with two hundred nineteen congressmen and women,
fifty three US Senators, twenty four Cabinet members, almost two
hundred countries, and an otherwise normal life to lead, I
can't take a ranting lunatics call every day.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
I have to say, that's one of my that's one
of my favorites of his.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
I think we could do an entire podcast each day. Oh,
good guy, we're just reading the best of social media
posts from President Trump. We should maybe do this on
Mondays and just it could just be theater, it just
the weekend social media. Yes, I think that would be
I would have listened to that.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
This is one of my favorites because he kind of
said it in a colloquial way. We can all say, look,
I got this going on, this going on, this going on.
I ain't got time to bea da da da da.
But he said it in a way that I found hilarious. Okay.
He finished by saying that if someone challenges her in
the primary, that that person could have his complete and
unyielding support. Now, the nickname we talked about Marjorie Taylor

(08:40):
Green is her name. He changed the color of green
to brown, and he explained that it's because when green
grass rots, it turns brown. I can't he was on
one this weekend.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Oh my god, all right, next up on the run.
We've all heard this before. Trump thinks Late night host
Myers is talentless and he absolutely thinks that NBC should
fire him. Well, the President made that point again in
another social media post. Okay, I am now convinced this
is what we're going to be doing on Mondays. So
this again happened over the weekend. The reason this one

(09:14):
is getting more attention than the others is because of
who retweeted the president's message. Brendan Carr, the chair of
the FCC.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Can you name a former FCC chair?

Speaker 1 (09:26):
No?

Speaker 3 (09:26):
I no, ever?

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Right, And this guy is making headlines all the time
and seeing no. Car reposted the President's message which said
that Myers was quote suffering Trump derangement syndrome after a
quote and uncontrollable rage during his show, and that the
network should fire him immediately.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
It has been viewed now as an endorsement from Car,
and we all know what happened the last time Car
publicly came out and endorsed the idea of a network
firing a late night host think Jimmy Kimmel, thinks Sinclair
nextstar who also wouldn't put Kimmel back on the air once.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
Disney decided to. So this could and potentially does have serious,
a serious impact. And we don't know what car is
going to do next, but certainly, But to.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Your point, isn't it crazy where we are we have
to pay attention to a retweet by the FCC chair
like we have to.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
These are the times we're living in now. They are odd,
but we need to pay attention.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
All right, folks, So stay with us here on this
Monday morning run. When we come back, Disney and YouTube
they figure things out just in time for Saturday football. Also,
the guy who rushed Ariana Grande and the other stars
of Wicked on the red carpet, well he had a
day in court and now he is going to spend
some days in jail. We'll explain. Also, as surprise at

(10:45):
the box office over the weekend, the running man couldn't
catch up to the magicians. We continue now on this
Monday day morning ron with Disney and YouTube. They have
worked out their differences and have reached a deal to

(11:05):
end that blackout, and they got it all worked out
just before kickoff on Saturday. So Disney channels, you'll remember,
were pulled from YouTube That was on October thirtieth in
a dispute. What do you what was this fight possibly
over between two media giants?

Speaker 3 (11:20):
What all fights are over money?

Speaker 1 (11:23):
The new licensing deal was announced on Friday and YouTube
TV customers started seeing Disney channels, in particular ESPN.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
They all were restored.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Pretty much immediately, And yeah they did go a full
weekend though without college football. That's huge for fans like
us that that would be like, I'm canceling my subscription
kind of a problem.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Yeah, this would be the end of the deal. And
you know, I didn't realize YouTube tv is the number
one online live television streamer. We use Hulu all that
we know, Hulu is huge, But as far as a
live segment, this was a bigger deal than quite Frankly,
I gave a great Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
I had no idea.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Wow, I had no idea. All right, continue on the
run here now, the guy who jumped the barricade rushed
the stars of wicket, Well he's been given a nine
day jail sentence. We saw this and this is all
fun and games to him, but this was a very
serious and scary moment. This happened last week in Singapore
during a red carpet premiere. We joked last week, is
that we all need a friend like Cynthia Rivo. She

(12:21):
was standing there right next to her and jumped into
action as this guy jumped into the red carpet, jumped
over barricae, put his arm all over Ariana Grande. But yeah,
he ended up did have to go to court, getting
a nine day jail sentence for being a public nuisance.
He said he's going to keep doing this. He has
an Instagram page in which he chose himself rushing and
what was the.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
Point of it?

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Like, I guess people think it's funny, but it's so
scary and the times we're in right now, and certainly
all of the things that Ariana Grande has been through,
that is just it's it's cruel and it's not funny.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
And we said it if if he had meant her harm,
he would have harmed her because he got that close
and that kind of access. That was nothing. But Cynthia
or reveal to be quite honest, that was fighting him
off for commuted.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
There was a significant lag between when Cynthia Revo stepped
in and the actual paid security guards stepped in.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
There there was definitely a lack all right.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
Our final leg of our Monday Morning run is a
bit of a surprise and a huge upset at the
box office over the weekend. Now You See Me three
was number one, and that obviously took the spot ahead
of the highly promoted we've all been hearing about this
big budget remake of The Running Man, which stars Glenn Powell.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
He's one of the hottest things in Hollywood right now.
Right even if you it was hard to escape The
Running Man like it was just every he was everywhere.
The signs are where, the premiere at, the commercials are everywhere.
So this was expected to be a big This is
a big big.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
Deal, yes, and a big big flop, so to speak.
So Now you See Me made twenty one million dollars domestically.
Running Man got just over seventeen million, So Now You
See Me as able to add another fifty two million
globally for a total of seventy five point five million dollars.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
It had a.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Ninety million dollar budget, so it looks like it's going
to actually make money, and that's a great start. But
Running Man only pulled in eleven million dollars internationally. Their
grand total opening weekend twenty eight million dollars. It cost
one hundred and ten million to make, so that is
a massive disappointment.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
So I was curious about it. We all know from
Schwarzenegger back in the day, that's kind of a classic,
if you will. If it wasn't a huge box office success,
this was one. Look this was.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
It was one of my favorite movies. I loved the
Running Man. I thought it was so cool. I believe
was Pierce Anthony involved in that the author. I just
I loved that movie. I watched it at nauseum, so
I thought this was going to do great. I also
think it's interesting think about the fact that Sidney's Sweeney's
movie flopped last weekend, Glenn Powell's movie flop this weekend.

(14:59):
Those two you had one of the biggest most recent
box office successes for a rom com, which is a
you know you saw it. I convinced you it was
an action Colm, but it wasm No, you.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
Didn't egotiate with me.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
You're right, I didn't drag you. I saw it with
the girls. I tried to get you to come, you
wouldn't come. But that was a huge success. So I think,
you know, movie makers think we got two of the
biggest stars. Interesting to see what's happened the last two
weekends at the box.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
This one was I mean, she did the Christie right.
That was that was more of an it. This was
a big budget, action packed, huge star. So uh, hopefully
I'm curious about it. I do want to see it
now before we let you go here on this Monday.
Something we'd like for you to take with you, something
for you to consider it is our quote of the day,

(15:44):
again from the TJ. Holmes Files given Robaca break here
from pulling the quotes of the day, So take this
one on robes. Our quote is those who do not
move do not notice their chains. Wow, what does that
spik take?

Speaker 1 (16:01):
It's set That speaks to me a lot, because sometimes
out of fear, I don't know if it's just depression,
a lot of things, people just they get stuck, they
can't move, and they don't realize they've created their own chains.
They've they've limited themselves in ways that they don't even
realize because they've they've not tried, they've not pushed themselves,

(16:21):
and so they've created their own prison cell.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
This complacency comes to mind when I see this quote,
and also the quote from Age of Innocence that line
Newland talking about or about may like, what is the
point in trying to free someone who doesn't even realize
that they are in chains? Like you think, this is
the world, this is what it has to be. You've
created this world to your point, so you're not trying

(16:45):
to bust out of anything, and then you might not
even realize you're trapped in the first place. Wow.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
No, that's that's thought provoking and something to consider. Like,
and we're always looking to blame someone else of why
we're stuck, or why we're set in our ways, or
why we can't seem to move forward. I love this
and I love you bringing out Age of Innocence too,
Newland archer Daniel J. Lewis, Oh, best movie ever.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Let's take those one with you today, Folks, Those who
do not move do not notice their chains. And with that, folks,
we always appreciate you running with us. Hope you were
a week your Monday getting off to a good start
and I'm teaching, and.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
I'm Amy Roboch. We will talk to you soon.

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
