Speaker 1 (00:07):
You were now tuned in to the Rodo Experts. Hey, Yo,
what's up everybody. It's Pa Choey Peachoe Piezappia and welcome
to Roto Experts in the morning, right here on the Grid,
on sports grid dot Com, on Zumo TV, and of

(00:30):
course on YouTube. It's me Joe Pizappia. And look we're here.
It's week eight. We're almost halfway through the season. If
you can believe it, I certainly can't. And we've got
a lot to get to. We got one quarterback out,
one quarterback back, and uh a whole lot of other
injuries and sits and starts to get to. We're gonna
break down all the fantasy headlines, the latest trades in
the NFL as we're getting closer and closer to that

(00:52):
deadline in just a few days. Plus, we're gonna have
Davis Maddock for Myrtle Experts join us in just a
little bit. But before we get to all of that,
I've got to bring on my co host, because it's
not Sunday without Jim Day the Fantasy Taz Jim. I
know it's a rainy day here in New Jersey at
the Meadowlands, but still a lot of sunshine because we
got fantasy football to talk about, right, my friend, Oh,

(01:14):
and we got lots of it to talk about it.
Good morning, Joe, Thanks, great day for football. I love,
always loved playing in the rain. It was just so
much fun being on that field, on it with sloppy field,
just a lot of fun to do. So I'm looking
forward to watching the games today. But lots to talk about. Yeah,
certainly a lot of talk about. Let's start with the

(01:36):
biggest fantasy headline, which is Matt Ryan being out. Let's
start with the negative, will take the bad first before
the good. So Matt Ryan's gonna be out of this game.
Mattch Shop, if you can believe it, thirty eight year
old match Shop is going to be starting this one
for the Atlanta Falcons. And uh, it was hard press
for all of us to remember the fact the match
all was even in the league because Matt Ryan's basically
played every game for the last up I don't know

(01:58):
decade or so, but here we are, Matt Shops still
kicking around. So look, just when the season could not
get any worse potentially for the Falcons, they trade off
Mohammed's a new earlier in the week, and now, of
course you've got Matt Show playing for Matt Ryan who's out,
which is crushing a lot of lineups. But I guess
here's my question. Matt Show has been around the league
for a long time. Is there any scenario where you're

(02:20):
taking guys like DeVonta Freeman or Julio or uh, let's
start with those two guys, DeVonta Freeman and Julio start
with the top tier guys. Any situation at all, Jim,
we're taking those guys out of lineups? I say no,
what say you? Uh? Yeah, Julio? No, yeah, I don't
care who's throwing to him. You gotta keep him on
the field. If he ends up giving you a doughnut,

(02:41):
then you live with it is. It is what it is.
But he's just too talented no matter who's throwing the ball.
He only needs a couple of players to get big numbers. So, uh,
DeVante Freeman might be a little bit of a different
story for me. Look, he's been playing better of late,
but without Ryan there, you're gonna probably see a lot
of people in that box against him. And it's not

(03:02):
like he's been doing so great running the ball. He's
been doing a lot more in the passing game, so
I have a little bit of hesitation with him. Uh,
Seahawks are definitely better against the run than they are
against the pass. All right, So let's go to the
next two pieces. Let's go to Austin Hooper and Calvin Ridley.
Are they on the babble? I imagine Hooper? Look, you're
not gonna do much better than Hooper. So let's talk

(03:23):
about Calvin Ridley. Is that a guy that you sit
based on the fact that we've downgraded a quarterback against
the Seahawks now from Matt Ryan to match up. You know,
it really comes down to what your other choices are.
Of course, you know, Ridley has taken a step forward
and the fact that Sinew is gone and he is
now the bona fide number two with no question. But

(03:45):
with Matt schob throwing him the ball, how much does
that count? I don't love him this week at all,
and I'm really looking for any excuse to get away
from him. All right, Well, let's talk about some positive things.
And Drew Brees is back for the New Orleans Saints
already ahead of schedule. Shocking to me really, because with
the by coming up, in just a week. You would

(04:07):
have thought, hey, just take it another week off, get
completely right. But all that says to me, Jim, is
that he's completely right. There's no way Drew Brees is
going to push himself here in this game. That would
have been a cookie matchup basically for the Saints against uh,
the Arizona Cardinals at home. It seems like everything would
mean a w especially the way Teddy bridge Water on

(04:27):
that defense has played. So to me, if you're a
Drew Brees owner, you get him back on the field immediately. Correct.
Oh yeah, I'm starting Drew Brees where I have Look,
there's no guarantee it, but without Camara there, he's gonna
have to rely a little bit more heavily on the past,
and that you know, once that happens, Drew Brees becomes

(04:48):
a viable fantasy option. The weeks he hasn't been a
viable fantasy option is the weeks that Camara has been
doing great on the ground. Uh. Now, I'm not saying
Ottavius Murray can't do great on the ground, but car
Thals are better against the run than they are against past.
So I think this, you know, Breezes back, He's in
the field. I think he's gonna throw it out all right.

(05:10):
And as you mentioned, Alvi Camara, the other bit of
news too, he is out for this game, which means
again going back to the Tavius Murray, which has worked
out the last couple of weeks. So look, even if
he had gone out there for a game time decision,
it wouldn't have mattered anyway. So for me, I think
it's perfectly good to go out there and throw the
Tavius Murray right in there. He becomes immediate impact player.

(05:30):
We all know the Saints at home are typically much
better offensively than they are on the road. And look,
it's a great matchup. As I said before the Arizona Cardinals.
All right, let's move on to one of the guys
who got dealt this past week, and Emmanuel Sanders moved
on from the San Francisco excuse me, to the San
Francisco forty niners from the Denver Broncos. Now, obviously it's
it's a good move on paper. Manuel Sanders is probably

(05:52):
better or certainly has a better resume than anybody they've
had in house. Where I struggle with this, Jim, and I,
to me, I feel like Okay, he is. You're right,
jim he is all right, he definitely is there you go.
But at the same time, where I struggle is Jimmy
Garoppolo has exactly been lighting the world of fire as
a pastor. Uh, they only have one wide receiver, Actually,

(06:15):
I'm sorry they don't. They have one receiver who has
more than three hundred yards and that's Kiddled. Nobody else
has more than a hundred and eighties something. So what
that does to me is, like, I understand there was
a need there for wide receiver, but maybe there's also
a deficit in the passing game. Do you think this
is a great time for fantasy owners who actually trade
Emmanuel Sanders now where his value is highest, or do
you actually think Jimmy Garoppolo can make Emmanuel Sanders a

(06:38):
very good fantasy asset in San Francisco. Well, I don't
know if his value is highest now, because everybody has
the same concerns you do about Garoppolo. Well, everybody everybody
except Prince Ventra, who happens to have a very big man.
But outside of that, you know, everybody has their concerns
about Garoppolo. At this point, they're a running team. They

(07:01):
know they want to run, they're doing well doing it.
They have multiple backs that can do it with so
you know they're doing what they want to do. But
when you put a wide receiver the caliber of Sanders
on this team where the only other viable receiver is
George Kittle, then absolutely I think he becomes a viable
asset going forward. And I'm actually telling people to go

(07:22):
out and get him. Um, even in a run for
first offense, they still have to throw the ball, and
you know, right now, he becomes their best passing option
outside of Kittle easily. Um Deebo Sam Samuel is going
to be back today, but still a rookie's still learning. Um,
and forget about everybody else. Nobody else has stepped up
at all. So yeah, Sanders becomes a viable play for me.

(07:44):
And I've been trying to reach out and grab him
wherever I could. All Right, I'm gonna take the other
side of this because it's fun. I'm gonna say trade
Emmanuel Sanders because here's the situation. Jim is right in
those in those leagues where you know you're playing against
people are very very smart. I actually think it's a
savvy move to do what I'm saying, which is trying
to acquire him in a trade because people might go

(08:05):
and I'll love the move to Jimmy Garoppolo. But most
of the time people are willing to overpay for things like, oh,
he's moving to a better team, while moving to a
better team doesn't necessarily make him a better fantasy asset.
And sometimes you can actually get people to overpay in
those scenarios in just your regular casual fantasy football leagues.
So keep that in mind. Okay, another big person out

(08:26):
is Darius Slay this week, so he is out for
this one for the Lions. Also, carry On Johnson got
hurt last week out as well. Ty Johnson is gonna
be filling in, So we're going one Johnson to another Johnson.
So can did Hi Johnson basically feel the carry On
Johnson void in your opinion? No, No, not at all.

(08:47):
Go let's face it. Carry On wasn't even doing carry
On wasn't doing very well Johnson. Let's put a plug
in this real quick. Well, we're gonna come back. We'll
talk more about Ty Johnson in the second because we're
up against the eight here. But Ty Johnson against the Giants,
will he be that guy. Jim says, no, what do
I say? Stick around, We'll be right back to find.

(09:50):
In the morning, Joe's appear here with you. Jim Day
and I are going to break down the fantasy games
of the week to get to But first I want
to revisit because we made the fancy graphic and everything
too for Ty Johnson, So Jim, I want to expand
a little bit. Why can't Ty Johnson be a good
fantasy value today? Is it just because you think everything
goes to Matt Stafford, which I can understand. Considering how

(10:12):
bad that secondary is for the New York Giants, or
do you just think that people are doing that lazy
fantasy thing where they're just putting addition by subtraction. Oh,
carry On is gone, So that must mean that Ty
Johnson is going to be that guy. So can he
be a flex play at the very least this week
for you, Jim, He could be, but he won't be,

(10:33):
at least not for me. Look, let's face it, carry
On Johnson wasn't doing that great in this offense, in
an offense where they wanted to run the ball, or
at least said they wanted to run the ball, and
they still weren't doing it. Ty Johnson is not even
close to carry On Johnson. Plus, I think J. D.
Mckissic is the guy who's going to be involved in
the passing game, and I would start mckissic over over

(10:55):
Ty Johnson this week in a PPR league. I think
mckissic will have more value than Thy Johnson. And I
think this ends up being a full blown committee in Detroit.
So for all those people thinking Tie Jones Johnson stepping
right into the starting role, gotta get him into your lineup,
I think you're gonna be sadly mistaken. Yeah. Look, I

(11:15):
think Jim Braakon brings up some good points here. Plus
j d mkiss it could be a guy that gets
more heavily involved than people realize as well. Also, one
more note to David Johnson's gonna be out for the
next two weeks, it looks like, so keep that in mind.
You're also going to be without Davante Adams yet again,
looks like you should have just had that surgery. Things
might have gone a little bit quicker for him in
terms of recovery. So it's time a transition here, Jim,

(11:36):
and let's talk about some of the big matchups we've
got on today. And we're basically starting with one of them,
which is Giants and Lions. So we already talked to
fair amount about that running game. Let's talk about the
passing game here. It would certainly look like a really
good matchup for Stafford. I don't think Marvin Jones can
repeat the four touchdown game, but don't you feel like
Marvin Jones is certainly worthy of starting again this week
against the Giants. Oh? Absolutely, anybody against that Giant secondary

(12:03):
right now is a play. There's no doubt about it.
So far on in the season, there twenty against opposing
wide receivers, and I think a lot of this is
gonna fall on stafford shoulders. And we know what Stafford
can do when he has to throw the ball a
lot of times. If he's throwing the ball forty plus
times a game, he's gonna be a great fantasy asset
as well as his receivers are. And I think that's

(12:24):
what we see today. All Right, Dan, let's go over
to the other side of this came to and talk
about the Giants, because Daniel Jones had a good matchup
on paper last week, didn't really come to fruition. He
got all the toys back, but didn't seem to be
jelling altogether. So what's your expectation for Daniel Jones and
the rest of this Giants offense here? Is they go
to Detroit? Can they keep pace with Matthew Stafford? Or

(12:45):
is this is another scenario where maybe Daniel Jones continues
to struggle and find his way here in his rookie season. Well,
I think Jones is still learning. He's still struggling, no
doubt about it. He needs to learn spatial awareness and
guys are around him, and he needs to learn when
to throw the ball away all rookie mistakes that he

(13:05):
can learn. But this is a good matchup for him.
First of all, as you mentioned in your earlier show,
Darius slays out today, so that's a big thing and
that should helps his Giants offense. And it wasn't like
Detroit's defense has been that great all season anyway. Their
thirtie against opposing running backs, there were twenty with Darius
slay against opposing wide receivers, So I think these Giants

(13:27):
can eat that. The biggest problem I have with the
Giants is Evan Ingram's Ingram, and that's only because Daniel
Johnson just doesn't look for him the way that Eli
Manning did. Ingram's numbers with Johnson have Jones, Daniel Jones
have come way down uh then they were with Manning.
So he's the only one I have trepidation with, even
though it's a good matchup for him. But outside of that, yeah,

(13:50):
I think the Giants could definitely keep pace with Detroit.
All Right, we just talked a bit about that game
already with the Falcon, so I don't want to double track.
I know we were gonna talk about that one. Let's
talk about the Browns and Patriots, because this one's got
a lot more implications now with Jarvis Landry was talking
a lot about how they're gonna go in there and
get a victory and all that stuff, which I'm sure
they absolutely love in New England. They love that kind

(14:12):
of stuff. But let's be realistic here. Baker Mayfields throwing
eleven picks on the year, Baker Mayfield has not looked good.
He's going now into New England off of bye mind you,
but still into New England against that defense. What does
this mean for Odell Beckham? What does this mean for
Jarvis Landry? Nick Chubb is Nick Chubb. He's never coming
out of a lineup. But where are you at with
those receivers right now? For Cleveland with this matchup against

(14:34):
the second area's played out of its mind and created
a ton of turnovers playing against a quarterback now who's
got probably the most turnovers to give. Hey, if you
thought Donald was seeing ghosts last week, um, and absolutely
Mayfield is going to be seeing demons this week. Um,

(14:54):
there's no doubt about it. I don't have any love
for this passing game. Heck, even Chubb is a force
in the lineup for me. Look, let's face it, New
England is number one across the board against every opposing
position so far on the season. And one of the
stats I saw on Twitter and I forgot to put
it up there, so I'm sorry about that. That I
loved was that if the New England offense never stepped

(15:18):
foot on the field this year, this entire year, and
only let the defense play, they would still be three
three and one. Yeah, not bad, not bad, that's for sure.
I know a lot of people like myself who have
some fair amount of shares of that New England Patriots defense.
They've they've carried you, They've carried you through injuries. It's
been unbelievable run for them. Now the Patriots offense has

(15:40):
not been unbelievable as we're used to in years past.
Ken Mohammed Sanu, in your opinion, be a missing link
to this offense and really contribute right away. Josh Gordon
looks like he's gonna get phased out here and dropped
now that he's been put on I R probably on waivers.
Somebody else might be able to pick him up. We'll
talk about that a little bit later on, maybe with Davis.
But do you think that the new is the answer?

(16:01):
And can he pick up this Patriot system. I think
he can. It seems like everything kind of works in
that way. But again, I have a hard time believing
that he's gonna go in all of a sudden be
more than what he's ever been in the past. Oh
he's been a good, serviceable wide receiver in the past,
but now he goes to a team that needs that
wide receiver. They need him, They're gonna put him right

(16:23):
in the slot. They're gonna move Edelman out to the outside,
and everybody's screaming, Oh no, Edelman is so good in
the slot, well, edlmen so good on the outside to folks.
People get used to that and can play outside with
no problem and has plenty of times. Um Snow is
an excellent receiver. He's a smart receiver. He should. You know,
they'll install enough plays for him in this game plan

(16:46):
where you know, I think he's a good play this week.
I'm not saying he's a great play, but he's a
wide receiver three flex play easily for me, and I
think he can grow on that going forward, especially if
he works out of the slot from Merrily and if
he's looking at snaps out of the slot in this offense,
he could be a good receiver in PPR leagues. All right,

(17:09):
let's move on to the Texans at home against the Raiders. Now,
not too much to talk about here from the Raiders standpoint.
Josh Jacobson banged up, He's gonna play in this one.
Waller will play. Uh. They're really running that offense out
of the tight ends really now, it seems like in
terms of passing attacks. So even though Tyrrell Williams is back,
I don't know how much you can expect from him,
but a lot of expectations for the Texans and this
one that's a great match up the Raiders secondary, coming

(17:30):
off last week where Aaron Rodgers through five touchdowns and
rushed for one. Ken Deshaun Watson put up a Rogers
sque game and if he does, is it Hopkins finally
having that big Hopkins day or is it more of
these guys like Kenny Still and QT and are those
guys streamable at wide receiver this week? For you? Well?
Stills is you know, man, I've been saying this all week.

(17:54):
I love Stills. When he came out of school. I
thought he was gonna be a big play in this league,
and he just was never guy that could be, you know,
counted on from week to week. You'd have a few
good weeks every year and then die and never do
anything else the other weeks. But he's in a better
offense now, with a better quarterback and with fuller out
I think gets a lot of playing this one. So

(18:14):
Still absolutely comes into play bout he you know, he's
on again, off again. You just never know when they're
gonna use him in the offense. Uh So, I definitely
don't really have a lot of faith in him, But
Still's is a guy you could definitely slide into that
wide receiver three or flex spot. Alright, real quick here
thirty seconds Bucks Titans. Obviously, the Titans wide receivers starting

(18:36):
to look better this past week. Cannot carry over two
weeks in a row. Here this week against Tampa fora
Ryan Tannehill. Uh, I'd like Tannehill this week. Actually, I
can't believe I'm actually saying that, but I do like
him this week. I think this is a good matchup
for him. The Bucks have been terrible against the past,

(18:57):
but really solid against the run. So I think it's
been a fall in day his hands. All Right, we'll
see if Jameis Winston can limit those picks and come
back and actually have a good week. All Right, We're
gonna hit a break. We come back. Davis Maddick is
going to join us Mr roto expert himself, and we're

Day and now Davis Mattock Davis, how are you this
fine Sunday? My friend doing doing great on this this

(20:48):
fine Sunday morning. Very excited for uh. You know, an
injury late in Sunday always makes for a pretty exciting
morning in terms of creating DFS lineups, figuring out swaps
and waiver wire ads in UH in season long league,
so a lot to get through this morning. All right, well,
let's let's throw in some more stuff. Let's throw in
the trade deadline, because we had a couple of trades

(21:10):
go down and really three major players are implemented or
implicated in them, I should say, uh, let's start with
your take on Emmanuel Sanders here we talked earlier about this.
We'll start with Sanders first, then we'll go to Snow
and then Josh Gordon how this plays out for you?
But do you believe that Sanders right now is going
to a better place and that he becomes a better
asset or do you think this is more of a

(21:30):
push for his value? Where do you stand with Emmanuel
Sanders now in San Francisco? This has got to be
a push for Emmanuel Sanders value, I think, I don't.
I don't know if there's any other way to interpret it.
So he goes from a system that was not super
pass heavy, but was not the most run heavy offense
in the NFL, which is what the San Francisco forty
Niners are right now. And he also was playing with

(21:53):
Courtland Sutton, who was earning more targets and was doing
better with them. But also, you know, he wasn't George Kittle,
and George Kitt is an all world tight end who's
going to demand of the team's targets. He's going to
have a pretty commanding share of the red zone work
as well. So I think, you know, kind of at
best with Emmanuel Sanders, you're looking at getting what you

(22:14):
know Dante Pettis did in the back half of last season.
And and that's not even to include the fact that
you know, maybe Dante Pettis does finally break out in
this offense just a little bit. So for me, I
I just I really don't imagine a scenario the rest
of the year where I rank Sanders as like a
starting top twenty four Fantasy wide receiver unless something dramatically

(22:34):
changes in San Francisco. Alright, so let's roundtable it now
a little bit Jim Day with some new going to
New England. How do you feel about Josh Gordon's value now?
Is seeing somebody you're dropping if you have to this
week and he just cut your losses? Or do you
think another team is gonna pick him up and make
a play here again with Josh Gordon for the I
don't know how many chances this is, but another chance

(22:56):
here where some team will they take a chance or
is it just time to cut it with Josh Gordon.
I think it's time to cut bait with Josh Gordon
at this point. Look, and I've been Dagon Gordon. The
talent is there, obviously everything else isn't for New England
to give up on him at this point. And let's
face facts, that's exactly what they did. They put him

(23:18):
on I are when he didn't have an injury that
required I are. So it's obvious they are done with him.
They will drop him as soon as they can. And
if he couldn't make it work in New England where
they needed a good, solid wide receiver, I have a
hard time thinking he makes it work with anybody else. Yeah,
I kind of tend to agree with that sentiment as well. Now,

(23:39):
you know, oftentimes we all talk enough about who fills
the void in those spots, So uh, Davis does Dave
Shawn Hamilton's get a little bit of a bump here
in your opinion? Now that look, he had very solid
end of the year last year with some subpark quarterback play.
Is this a spot now where he gets more snaps,
more opportunity And I mean clearly he stepped in last
year in Sanders void. Can he do that again this year?

(24:00):
And is he a sneaky ad this week? In your opinion? Davis? Yeah,
he stepped in the void last year and I actually
thought he played better than Sutton did last year. Now,
the position that day Shawn Hamilton's plays in the NFL
is a little bit easier than the position that Sutton
plays just right now, the way the NFL is structured,
it's it's just a little bit harder to play outside

(24:20):
than it is to play in the slot. He only
averaged for his career five point eight yards per target
Dashawn Hamilton does. So, you know, I don't think he's
said the you know, the next coming of Emmanuel Sanders
or anything like that, but I do think he is
going to have nice, steady, you know, kind of wide
receiver three, wide receiver four flex PPR value because you know,
we're we're going to see him getting in between four
and eight targets a game. Those are gonna be pretty

(24:43):
easily securable targets. And you know, it wouldn't surprise me
if he has you know, forty catches over the back
half of this season. All right, let's move on to
the Detroit game here. Jim and I were talking earlier
about Ty Johnson and his ability to kind of be
a flex play. This week, Jim was kind of sour
on him. Are you sour? On Thy Johnson as well.
Do you think this is one of these waiver wire misses.

(25:05):
Do you think j. D. Mckissic ends up becoming more
valuable actually as we go through here, or maybe even
does Detroit look now for another running back here to add,
because look, they've been competitive. So what's your take on
this whole running back situation, not just today but also
going forward in the next couple of weeks for the
Detroit Lions. Davis, So, I play in a lot of these,

(25:25):
uh these high stakes fantasy football leagues, like the ff
PC and stuff, and you know, Ti Johnson went for
like the most money that any running back has gone
all year, and in one of those leagues, he went
to me for forty pc of our teams waiver wire budget,
and uh, you know, kind of about that whole process,
I was dm ng a lot of Lions beat writers
trying to figure out what the team wants to do.
And this is the picture that I that I've kind

(25:47):
of figured out. Ti Johnson is gonna get about six
of the running back carries for Detroit and about ten
percent of the team's targets. Paul Perkins is gonna work
in a little bit probably on short yardage might steal
some of the goal line touches away from Thy Johnson,
which would obviously be brutal, but JD. Mckissic is pretty
much gonna stay in his role. However, I do think
that role is pretty valuable if you up mckissic snaps

(26:10):
from of the snaps to about of the snaps, which
is kind of what I expect to happen over the
rest of the season, presuming you know that they don't
trade for Kenyan Draker, that they do not add someone.
So I think mckissic has good PPR value. I think
Ti Johnson is a PPR running back too, But both
of them are going to really impact the ceilings of
one another. All right, Jim, let's bounce back over to

(26:33):
you here. You kind of touched on it earlier, so
I want to get your full take now. Sam Donald
not good Monday, we all know that. But the Patriots
make a lot of teams and quarterbacks especially look bad.
So what's your expectation for this one? Bouncing back Jaguars
and no slouch defensively, either certainly have a good pass
rush there, no more Jalen Ramsey, But do you think
that this is a bounce back game for Donald, and

(26:54):
you should feel good about running guys like Robby Anderson
and Crowder back out there immediately. How do you feel
about Donald now after he sees ghosts here as we
get closer and closer to Halloween. Well, as Jaguars defense
is not the Jaguars defensive old, they still have some
decent players, but they're not the same. Um. You know,

(27:14):
they're eighteenth against opposing wide receivers, twenty first against opposing
running backs, so you know they can be played on,
but they are home. Makes him a little tougher. Donald
should bounce back in you know, a decent way. I'm
not saying he's a startable quarterback. I have him outside
my top twelve easily. I think I have him at
number seventeen. So it's not a great day for Donald,

(27:35):
but I do think Crowder is good in this one
as long as he's healthy. I'm waiting on the news
for him this morning. He came up with that late
week injury, which is never a good thing, and I
haven't really seen any updates on him, so I really
want to pay attention this morning and see what they're
saying about him, whether or not he's gonna go if
he doesn't go. I mean, I think that helps Anderson

(27:56):
a little bit, but I'm not in love with Anderson
this week. How about you, Davis, how do you feel
about Sam Donald based on what you saw when he
played the Cowboys and that great upset nobody saw coming,
and then the following week complete Jekyl and Hyde scenario
where he's just completely lost, throwing picks everywhere and just
does not seem to have a grasp on anything going

(28:18):
on in the field. Do you think he bounces back?
Do we see Sam Donald from the Dallas game or
do we see more of Sam Donald potentially from Monday
night's game. Davis, what do you think about him? You
can't you can't feel good about him. There. There's just
no way that you can feel good about Sam Donald
right now. I think that you just have to look
at his body of work and say, Okay, this is
a guy who's averaging about, you know, about six and

(28:40):
a half yards per adjusted attempt, and that's just not
very good him. And him and Daniel Jones, really, both
of those New York young quarterbacks, they've both just been
largely disappointing. Daniel Jones had his moment against Tampa Bay.
Donald has had a couple of moments here and there.
The Dallas game is probably the highlight of his young
career thus far, maybe that come from behind and win
in his first start against the Detroit Lions. But I

(29:03):
think that Donald has really at this point, he's got
to show us something for us to think of him
as as even really a prospect, because if the baseline
that he has shown thus far is just how he
continues the rest of the year, I think you can
say that the Jets are very far away from having
found their quarterback of the future. Alright, So, boy for

(29:24):
Jet fans if they haven't found the quarterback of the
future yet, I mean, I'm sorry, Jet fans. I'm sorry.
I know we're here at the FanDuel Sports Book, but
luckily there's no Jet fans here right now. Everyone's off
from here at the stadium because there's no games here
at the stadium today. But man, you gotta hope donalds
the quarterback of the future. They can't keep going in
this cycle. Let's move on to CMC playing the forty

(29:45):
Niners today. There's no universe where you ever sit Christian McCaffrey.
But I want to ask you, Davis will start with
you and then we'll go over to Jim. Is there
any concern here because I know the forty Niners defense
has been great. I have zero concern. I think CMC
has a huge day. I you think there's a real
possibility Carolina can win this football game. So where do
you stand with CMC and this forty nine or defense.

(30:06):
Who becomes the victor in this contest today? No concern
for me, No, no concern for me. I'm very aligned
with you on this. CMC is just gonna be great
in this game. His results might be kind of similar
to these Tampa Bay games where maybe he's limited a
little bit rushing the ball, you know, maybe he only
averages you know, four yards per carry or whatever. But

(30:27):
he will will obviously be a weapon in the passing game.
Is gonna score at least one touchdown, maybe even maybe
even multiple touchdowns. And I agree, I think that Carolina
can win this game. However, I will say, if there
was ever going to be a game where we were
going to see the Kyle Allen warts that would get
the Panthers fans ready to turn back to Cam Newton.
I think that this is probably going to be a

(30:49):
game where Kyle Allen might struggle. Alright, fair enough, real quick.
Back to you, Jim CMC versus the forty Niners defense,
any concerns whatsoever or do you think this is just
regular old CMC and the only thing that can stop
him is the Bucks? Yeah? I don't think. Look, even
against the Bucks, he scored two touchdowns. So I'm with

(31:11):
you guys, and Davis said it perfectly. He's gonna be
a great play this week. Kyle Allen is gonna be
under pressure from start to finish. It's gonna be really
the week where everybody starts blimber and for Newton again.
All right, we're gonna hit a break. Thanks. Oh ways,

(33:14):
It's me Joey P and Jim Day with the here
breaking down Week eight and fantasy football. We gotta get
to the six starts. I know it's what you're waiting for.
The guys you want in the line up, the guys
you gotta take out of the lineup. I know. We're
always in the lineup every week. So is Brian and
Will here is always doing great job here. Uh always
yelling at me to do reads. That's that's there. That's
their job. Their job is to yell at me to

(33:34):
do reads. And they do a great job. And I
always do the reads because they yell at me. And
I appreciate that. I appreciate you boys. All right, let's
get after it, Jim, and let's start with the quarterback
position here, Ryan Tannehill. Where are we at here? It
was good Ryan Downhill last week. Will we get old
Dolphins Ryan Tannehill back again? Or will the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers defense give you enough Ryan Downehill to feel good

(33:58):
about say? Rolling them out? There is your QB two?
This week, or maybe if you're in a spot too
where you lost Matt Ryan and you weren't anticipating it
because early reports were good on Matt Ryan. Then all
of a sudden, next thing you know, he's out. So
would you rather be playing Ryan Tannehill or Matt Shop?
I think Tannehill, what say you, Jim Day? Did we

(34:21):
lose Jim Day? It feels like we lost Jim Day. Anyway,
I'll tell you my feelings about it, because well it's
just me at this point. So, oh, there he is.
There's Jim Day. Uh. Excellent. So Jim Day, Ryan Tannehill,
do you feel good about him uh being the guy
that you can get back into that groove that he

(34:41):
was last week? I guess that's the question that I'm
asking there. If you're able to answer it, please do,
And if not, then I'll just continue to rattle off
these guys. So, Jim are you back with us? Okay?
So Jim Ryan Downhill, we spent way too much time
now on this Ryan Tannehill, We're gonna we're gonna throw
him out there again this week and hope for the best.
Let's let's say you're Matt Ryan owner your death her
for a quarterback he's on the waiver wire? Do you

(35:01):
feel good about that Bucks defense matchup? I do like.
I like Tannehill a lot this week. I haven't been
number eleven in my ranking, so yes, I'm starting him
against this Bucks defense. They are terrible against the past,
they're great against the run, which makes it a very
hard Derrick Henry day. But I think Tannehill will thrive
in this and have to throw a lot. So yeah,

(35:23):
I'm I'm buying in on Danielle this week? All right?
Are you buying it on Derek Carr? Do you like
any garbage time here? If you expect the Texas have
a big total, doesn't force Derek car to throw the
football a little more? And now, look, I know last
week was a disappointment for him, a couple of key
turnovers and some key spots, but if he doesn't have those,
it's a better day for Derek Carr. Do you think

(35:43):
he's in the store for a better day this week
against the Houston Texans again on the road in a
brutal schedule for the Oakland Raiders. I think he does.
He gets Tyrolle Williams back, which is big help. Of course,
Darren Waller has been huge for him. Uh may I
have Josh Jacobs. They expect him to play, but they're
not sure yet, so that may play into it as well.

(36:05):
If he doesn't play, then they absolutely have to put
the ball in cars hands. More. Texans have been terrible
against the past, good against the run. Again another defense
doing that. So I think car is definitely a bounce
back player this week. I don't have him in my
top twelve, but in a start to QB or a
super flex, I have no problem playing him this alright,

(36:28):
So do you have a problem playing Kyle Allen against
the forty niners this week? Kyle Islan's played pretty well.
I think we can all assume that, but now starting
to hear the footsteps or the bootsteps of Cam Newton,
I guess, depending on how you put it. So are
you concerned that this is Kyle Allen swan song or
is there an upset in the making here in San Francisco?

(36:49):
Carolina could win this game. I don't think they will,
but if they do, it's not gonna be because Kyle
Kyle Allen. Um, you know Alan, He's been okay, but
he hasn't been great, especially not in fantasy term, and
I don't expect him to be great in this game
against San Francisco at all. Uh, probably the second best
defense in the league outside of New England at this
point and you know, playing great football. So yeah, I

(37:11):
definitely think this is gonna put Newton back in the
lips of all Panthers fans after Kyle Allen gets his
ass handed to him today. All right, let's move on
to the running back. So I couldn't tempt you with
Ty Johnson. So I'm curious, in a full point PPR,
how do you feel about J. D. Mckissic. And I'm
gonna step back in case you throw something at me
through Skype. I actually like McKissick. Look, they brought him

(37:37):
over for a reason. He has knowledge of this offense,
has knowledge of the coaches to coaches have knowledge of him.
He's a good past catching back and that's where they're
going to use him. As I said earlier in the segment,
I would start him in a PPR league over Ty Johnson.
I think he gets more involved in the passing game
this week. I could easily see him having five or
six receptions in this game. Won't be a Tony yardage,

(37:59):
but it should be enough to get you double digits.
Ti Johnson, he's gonna need to score, and I'm not
sure he's even gonna get that opportunity with them having
Paul Perkins on the field, So you know, I definitely
have my trepidation about Ti Johnson. All right, let's move
on to the Buffalo Bills. We got two running backs
there with a tough matchup. Devin Singletary, who started to

(38:19):
touch the football again last week, which is great, finally
healthy after weeks and weeks of waiting, and Frank Gore,
who has been Frank Gore. Let's be honest, so do
you think you can roll out either one of these
guys this week? With this matchup? The Eagles up front
have been very, very good. Fletcher Cox obviously has played
quite well this year. So would you be looking I
know you do the rankings. Where are they in the rankings?
Are you're looking for guys you can start over both

(38:41):
of these guys today. Obviously Singletary probably lower than Gore,
But where's even Frank Gore for you this week? On
your rankings? I have Frank Gore at thirty one, so
you know he's a flex for me at best, um,
just because his defense has been so good. They're great
against the run. We know that they do a great

(39:02):
job there. It's against the past where they definitely do
not play well. Uh So I think Gore, you know,
he's got a tough match up ahead of him. If
he scores, he'll get you into that why running back
to range. If he doesn't score, you're gonna be struggling
to get double digit points from it. Yeah, I think
it's a long day for that. That Bill's team. I
would not be shocked at Eagles won that football game

(39:24):
at all. I feel like the Eagles one of these
teams every week you don't know who they're gonna be.
I also feel like dare I say, the Dolphins are
starting to play a little better. But there's a lot
of news about Kenyan Drake maybe getting moved on from
Mark Walton has kind of gotten a lot more of
the carries lately. So is it safe to start Mark
Walton in a four teen team league this this week?
Let's say it's gotta be a deeper league scenario, probably anyway,

(39:46):
unless you just got crushed by buys or injuries. But
do you think Mark Walton is safe are you concerned
at all that Kenyan Drake gets a little bit of
a showcase one last time before they try to move
him at the deadline. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if
they actually absolutely sat Kenyan Drake this week because they
don't want him on the field to get good point

(40:07):
if they're trying to trade him, So don't keep yeah,
keep it. Keep an eye out on the inactives because
they could easily make Drake inactive today and if that happens,
then Walton steps into the picture. If it doesn't, if
Drake's on the field. You know, Walton is a nice name.
He's one of those guys. Oh he popped up on
the radar. Maybe he could be that guy. I'm not

(40:27):
sure I'm really buying into it because he's only had
one decent game so far. All the rest of the
time he hasn't even gotten posted double digits, So I'm
not really buying into it yet. Maybe when Drake is gone,
maybe he gets that opportunity. But we're still talking about
a running back on one of the worst offenses in
the league, so he still gets limited opportunities. All right,

(40:48):
let's talk about those running backs over in Chicago to
not a good week last week for those running backs.
Dur Co and got a bunch of balls and I
almost feel like he got negative yardage. And David Montgomery,
he seems like they didn't want to give him the
football at all? Can you start either of these two
guys this week at all? I feel like Montgomery is
a sit. I just gotta sit and wait and see. Now.
I'm just tired of running him out there. Is I'm
sure a lot of fantasy owners are. Maybe it's a

(41:10):
good week for him. I don't know. I just can't
keep running him out there because it doesn't seem like
they are committed at all to running the football. But
where are you at with Cone as well? And uh
David Montgomery this week? Jim, I'm with you. I love
David Montgomery. Coming into season, I thought he would be there,
Bell Cow get to work or maybe close to it

(41:32):
um and it just hasn't worked. Nagy. This offense just
hasn't been right. But now you know, Nag admits it
they're doing wrong. He's gonna start played calling, so maybe
it changes. Do I want to buy into it this week?
Absolutely not. I want to see what happens first but
before Nagy said this, I was ready to drop Montgomery.
Not because the kid doesn't have a talent, it's just

(41:53):
because Nag was being so stupid about it. Um I
want to see if that changes with him calling the
plays like he wasn't really calling the plays before. Um
So it really, you know, it scares me a little bit.
I think Cohen is back in play a little bit
more with Nag calling, but I really want to want
to see what he does with the actual running game.

(42:14):
Now I agree. I agree with you there, Got I
don't understand. Matt Nagi is a really good football coach.
I'm very high on Matt Neggie, but right now he
is kind of he's just stuck. He's stuck in this
weird thing where he's just trying so hard to get
Drabinsky reps to get him out there, to get him
and look, maybe the identity of his team is just
run the football, play defense, win football games. That's just

(42:35):
gotta do. You know, worry about the development of Mitch
Drabinsky over time. Right now, worry about winning football games
because you're in a dog fight for that division. All right,
let's move over to the wide receivers. The Cincinnati Bengals.
Anybody you're starting this week a Cincinnati Bengal. Wise, I
assume Tyler boy but I don't want to assume Jim Day.
How do you feel about these three guys? Audent, Tate, Ericson,
and of course Mr Tyler Boyd. All Ram's defense is

(43:01):
definitely bounced back in a big way, playing really good
football lately. Um So, I'm not really loving it that
we did see Ericson, you know, get a big chunk
of it last week because they were shutting down both
Boyd and Tate. Um So it might be interesting we
could see the same effect this week. But I can't
really say go out and start Ericson unless you're in
a deeper league and you need a flex play Boyd.

(43:23):
You know, he's on the fringe of that wide receiver
to wide receiver three. For me, I still don't love him,
but he should get enough targets. We're actually seeing an
increased number of targets because the last couple of weeks
he hasn't seen many. But the talk all week has
been about him not seeing many. So I think they
try to adjust that this week and get him more involved.
At this point, autumn Tate is not somebody I really trust.

(43:45):
I think they're gonna shut him down. And that's where
Ericson could come into play as that third option. So
I may take the shot on Ericsson before I take
the shot on take this all right, let's rapid fire
some of these that we're getting up against. A Dashawn
Hamilton's sid or start this week against the Colts. Oh um, look,

(44:07):
I love Dashawn Hamilton's last week last year. I thought
he was playing well this year so far. I mean,
maybe it's because a lack of playing time, maybe it
was lack of practice time, but he just hasn't been
playing well. He dropped too many passes, things we didn't
see from him last year. I think he starts to
get it back into play. I'm just not sure I'm
ready to buy into it week one. I want to

(44:28):
see what he can do first week as that true
slot player now for them. Uh and before I really
invested him. It's not like Flacco has been that elite
quarterback he claims to be. Are you running some new
out there this week? First shot out of the gate
with Brady. I do like to know a little bit

(44:48):
more with Brady. Like I said, I think they will
make some plays based on what he can do, what
they need him to do. I think out of that slot,
you know, they could always tell him, you know, do this,
do that, easy, easy, don't worry about everything else. So
I think he comes into play pretty quickly for Patriots,
And it really does come down to, you know where,
who are your other options right now? I have some

(45:09):
new at forty four. So it's not like a great option.
It's more like a flex option in a start wide
three wide receiver league. So in deeper leagues, I roll
them out there, normal twelve team leagues, I have a
lot of players higher. All right, let's let's do tight
end real quick. Uh camera Bread. I think it's a
real good stream this week. Great opportunity here. O J.

(45:30):
Howard out. We know Camera Break certainly can catch touchdowns.
That's all you need to do to be irrelevant tight end.
So would rather start him or Ben Watson this week?
Oh Man tough had tough choice. Um. Look, I don't know.
Everybody's so excited about great and I'm trying to figure

(45:51):
out why. Look, I I know all the reasons why O. J.
Howard is out. Winston used to like Break more. I
get all of that, but the tight ends just haven't
been a they parted this opfense, so I think I
would go away from him and the shun I agree,
all right, I gotta put a button on this one.
Thanks for joining us. As always, we'll be back again
next week for week nine for Jim Day. I'm Joey p.

(46:14):
That puts us when the books put the story of

you missed on the run of expert ends up giving

(46:58):
you a doughnut. Then he lived with it. It is
what it is, but he's just too talented. No matter
who's throwing the ball, he only needs a couple of
plays to get big numbers. So, uh, DeVante Freeman might
be a little bit of a different story for me. Look,
he's been playing better of late, but without Ryan there,
you're gonna probably see a lot of people in that
box against him. And it's not like he's been doing

(47:21):
so great and running the ball. He's been doing a
lot more in the passing game. So I have a
little bit of hesitation with him. Uh, Seahawks are definitely
better against the run than they are against the pass. Alright,
so let's go to the next two pieces. Let's go
to Austin Hooper and Calvin Ridley. Are they on the bubble?
I imagine Hooper, Look, you're not gonna do much better
than Hooper. So let's talk about Calvin Ridley. Is that

(47:42):
a guy that you sit based on the fact that
we've downgraded the quarterback against the Seahawks now from Matt
Ryan to match up. You know, it really comes down
to what your other choices are. Of course, it you know,
Ridley has taken a step forward and the fact that
Sinew has gone and he is now the bona fide
number two with no question. But with Matt Shops throwing

(48:05):
him the ball, how much does that count. I don't
love him this week at all, and I'm really looking
for any excuse to get away from him. All right, Well,
let's talk about some positive things. And Drew Brees is
back for the New Orleans Saints already ahead of schedule.
Shocking to me really, because with the by coming up
in just a week, you would have thought, hey, just

(48:26):
take another week off, get completely right. But all that
says to me, Jim, is that he's completely right. There's
no way Drew Brees is going to push himself here
in this game. That would have been a cookie matchup
basically for the Saints against uh, the Arizona Cardinals at home.
It seems like everything would mean a w especially the
way Teddy Bridgewater on that defense has played. So to me,

(48:48):
if you're a Drew Brees owner, you get him back
on the field immediately. Correct. Oh yeah, I'm starting Drew
Brees where I have. Look, there's no guarantee it, but
without Camara there, he's gonna have to rely a little
bit more heavily on the pass. And that you know,
Once that happens, Drew Brees becomes a viable fantasy option.

(49:08):
The weeks he hasn't been a viable fantasy option is
the weeks that Camara has been doing great on the ground.
Uh Now, I'm not saying Ottavius Murray can't do great
on the ground, but Cardinals are better against into the
run than they are against the past. So I think this.
You know, Breeze is back, he's in the field. I
think he's gonna throw it out all right. And as

(49:29):
you mentioned Alcamara the other bit of news too, he
is out for this game, which means again going back
to Otavius Murray, which has worked out the last couple
of weeks. So look, even if he had gone out
there for a game time decision, it wouldn't have mattered anyway.
