Speaker 1 (00:00):
H story Time with Legendary Jerry. New face, Baby, we're here.

(00:23):
Got that, we got we got one new ones, new face,
we got one of the ones. We got the Prince
of the motherfucking South too, right now, right still, hey,
he's still that man, Still that dude. I just want
to tell you all, welcome to story Time with Legendary Jerry.
I am Jerry Clark. It's new face, and we got

(00:46):
my brother once we like we said, the Prince of
the South. My mother scrapping this motherfucker.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
This already, man, appreciate that got murlow.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
This is damn I got all my mouth ship. Come on, man,
he doing that today, pem hey man, this this interview
is long overdue.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Man.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
We got a lot to talk about. You've been, You've been,
you know, you've been now and about. But I want
to say this before we jump in and talk about
anything music. When I see you, there's one word that
comes to my mind, and that's growth. Like I've seen
you early on, you was wild back in the days,
he was wild ass your nigga man until now as

(01:34):
a father all that ship and then lately as transparent
as you have been speaking about how you grew up
and all that. Man, I just as black men. I
love to see that ship man Like I say, that's growth, man,
I appreciate that. That's growth.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
So to have you here now and be able to
tell you face to face man like like I say, Man,
back in them early he was wild ass nigga man.
But look that new face. I remember early on.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
I remember nights well, I couldn't remember nights.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
And that's that's all.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
That was.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Look, I'm trying to I had some of those nice too.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
I had some bad.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
But when I think about scrappy Man, it's a lot
of artists that that's not here no more. And that's
why I applaud and celebrate him all the time, because
we get to see the growth of him from that
that things like I always think of like what Tupac
would have evolved to, or what Trouble would have evolved
to a school, you know, a bank row fresh would
it evolved to. We never get a chance to see

(02:40):
black men grow, you know what I'm saying, because of
the things that go on in the community. But when
I see him, I get a glimpse of hope, because
you know, you got to be able to see. You know,
we wouldn't be able to see Malcolm X. He went
from a pimp to you know who he is. And
this brother has like you said, father, we like you said,
we seen him in the earlier I remember being in
them clubs and you in the think. But to see

(03:01):
him as a father and a growing man and be
transparent about his trauma and.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Everything, that's that's that's some dope ship man. Yeah, so
let me let me say this. From the beginning, Scrap,
when Rob and John and them, I remember them. I
remember him first telling me. Now when when B and
me was starting to really sign acts, they told me
they was like Jered, this nigga a start man, This

(03:27):
nigga is a bona fide star.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
I appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
This nigga bone I'm talking about new face.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
They was.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
I mean, they had everything going on with with with Trelville,
with Scrap, I forgot the young the chick name that
wound up had to go do some time trying. But
the word was you was a star. So in them days,
hot it, I mean and and and being me had it.

(03:55):
I felt like back in them days, y'all really had
a a strong stranglehold on the city. As far as
how y'all was moving, how did that all come about
at the beginning, with y'all even loaking up, linking up
like that.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
Well, I was on my own, you know what I'm
saying for a minute, you know what I'm saying, you know,
just doing the chilling circuit as they call it, you
know what I'm saying, in the South region, and got
a little name for myself, the Neighborhood Superstar promotional team,
a little old big Wallow, Rest in Peace, Big Wallow.

(04:31):
They were throwing me on stages. They were throwing me
on stages and stuff. And I'm talking about that, have
a big ad party, like cash Money'll be there at night,
this person to be there night and they'll let me
open up all close that bit, you know what I'm saying.
I'm like, yeah, yeah, and I go hard, you know.
And then I did that for like a year and
a half.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
And then then I got connected with Trillville, you know
what I'm saying. And I was from the East Side. Yeah,
and by and by.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
Then, what's the name that will put me on stage?
Uh Scenado Moet rest in peace, Shannard uh Moett you
know a K A.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Miss two weeks. They were throwing me on stage too.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
They would having any big major college parties and I'm
talking about Troll would come, John came like uh, I
mean it was so many people. I can keep going,
like you know what I'm saying. I remember one night
like I ended up meeting Running in the Archie. You
know what I'm saying. Yeah, and I me and him

(05:36):
were cool. We rocked there since then, you know what
I'm saying, Rest in peace and and that when there
when Vince Phillips came to the club and he seen
me and Trivia rock that bit, and he was just like, damn,
Trivia had already signed and men we had, like I said,
we were doing shows together going around. So we had

(05:57):
this big one to where ship was just it was
just packed, like just stupid hot.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
The real Atlanta, how high Atlanta used to be. Man
talking about like man they never.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
Ever miss like never ever had it had it rocking,
And you know it's it's packing us on the crowd
waving man.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
And it should be noted too.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
I remember seeing you before the connection with Triville. You
had your own ship prior to that whole ship, Am
I right?

Speaker 4 (06:28):
Yeah, Okay, I mean Little l A and Trivia used
to He used to let me in too. He's to
be part of the Neighborhood Superstars. He used to promote
uh with uh Smurf Uh was it what they called
him now?

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Man? Because I called him, I usually call him Smurf,
but Smurf world. Yeah, yeah, him and him l A.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
From Trivia used to promote with the Flights and promote
the clubs with Neighborhood Superstar.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
They were like a young dude, you know what I say.
And so you know, I was already moving around, but
when I connected with them, you know what I'm saying,
dumn people be doing some beats and stuff like man,
you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
I be going to uh.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
The dopest producers.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
Yeah, we go to the dude and John House do
some music and he let us come and use his
little spot. Man ship was real man, you know. And
then this thing, you know, after we done did circuit.
At the Circuit shoot, they get signed. We do this
big night at this college party. Motherfuckers go crazy and
they get the fighting all over the place. Nigga, I

(07:34):
end up signing in that week. I'm like when I
meet John. You know what when I mean, when I
meet John, you know what this nigga?

Speaker 2 (07:43):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
And when I met him, they he was really like
like Vince Field has been on me since they won.
He had to be the one that first say I
was a star. You know what I'm saying. He's been saying.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Vin I'm telling you I heard you know all.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
And then John because John wasn't really on man for
like he really didn't want to do he was on
he was on some Erry.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
Gordy ship cover like man trying to fucking no kids. Man.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
Yeah, you know what I'm saying, because he was wild man,
you know, but I understand understand, but you know, you know,
once I was able to like get get with him,
I hit him out, like what's up? Like I seen
you got did never with Trill? Heal like should do
the head bust with me? Let's go cold, like.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Think about it, you know what I think about it?
I was like what niggas like the going on? You
know what.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Nigga might be.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
But you know, but then this thing, you know, like
the producer that originally did the beatn Joe Ben, he
hit me. He was like, Yo, I'm at the studio.
I'm like, what you're doing in the studio and I
ain't know we had to say. He was like, I
mean doing doing doing the head bust to beat with
John right now, we're doing that bit joke. Doing that

(08:59):
all the way, old man, nigga Johns sounds just crazy.
I was like what I was like, Damn.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
I was like, so, I.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
Ain't gonna have to put my voice on nothing like that.
It is just gonna stay the saying. He was like, Bro,
they want you to redo that bit. I was like
when he was like today, I was like, bitch, I'm
on my way, nig I'm on the way, nigga like that.
I said, I'm thinking it's in It's in stink on
you you know.

Speaker 2 (09:23):

Speaker 4 (09:24):
Then we got I forgot who who used to mix
and master John Fry.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
Boy man, listen shout out John Cold.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
Listen, Bro, I'm going in that bit, Bro, Like I said,
I know, this ship in the sound crazy amazing because.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
From the hood, you know what I'm saying, ship and if.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
It was rocking the imagine with some real yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
So I was like, boy, So I went in there
and nigga.

Speaker 4 (09:48):
John had that bitch and the rocking. The beat was
just that ship just sounded so just different.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Like I heard that.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
Yeah, I heard the worm and you know John had
the worm and ship going. I'm like, oh, man, nigga,
put the face.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
When you get that, you get here, you get all
that bottom, all the sounds, you get that, right man,
Like you said your ship was rocking.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Slapped the motherfucker, right man.

Speaker 5 (10:12):
You're going back, going back to those It was.

Speaker 4 (10:16):

to like, you know what I'm saying, slap your ma.

Speaker 5 (10:21):
Like you like, he's as good as a man telling you.

Speaker 2 (10:24):

next thing, you know, I'm asking him again. I'm like,
I seen you.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
I'm coming back to the well again.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
I said, I know you. You know what I'm saying.
You won't head bust, but I'll be saying. You got
on stage, we got trill.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Can you come?

Speaker 2 (10:47):
Holding it by myself for years was having.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
What was the first show y'all did when John came
out with you.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
It was at the warehouse.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
Damn. It was here, this, this, this, this on that
line of ship.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
It was like I think it was like Thanksgiving even Thanksgiving.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
That mother upstairs and downs.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
It was patting the mother o motherfucker too. That night,
but John, we had got our little you know spot.
You know, everybody was with her and John and the
East Side boy came and they did like three songs
and then we did.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
Just just thinking about I missed that Atlanta man.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
Listen, listen, let me then let me tell you that
was the first start.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
Then he took me on the road with him, like.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
Because we did this little show and I remember that. Yeah,
he took me on the show Georgia State.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
The one. This was before they had to crank energy drink.
Yeah before because I later on y'all came back and did.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
Yeah the nigga he was on the he was on
some some other tour whatever. But I remember everybody was finish.
We had everybody did a show with him and Alburn.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
Well with Georgia State at and everybody got on the
bus and they were like ship was like both in
the head back to the au get head to the club.
I looked at Jim, but I was like, I said, hey, bro, listen,
I said, ain't them for me going back home? And

(12:16):
I said, listen, if you let me go, you stay
on the bus with you, Like, let's roight. I said,
I work whatever I gotta do around here, you know
what I'm saying. Help whatever?

Speaker 2 (12:25):
I said, should I pay for my own clothes? Out?
We washed them all?

Speaker 4 (12:30):
Whatever I gotta do. And they say you're taking your moms?
I said, if I can.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
Like like a leg and was on like I was like,
come on, I was on tour.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
It was like it was one of them things like
you had to like fight your ego, like you can't,
you can't be like you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
I felt like some of my worst enemy at times. Yeah,
it's a good thing, but it could be.

Speaker 4 (12:53):
Because because I felt like, motherfucker been like that, like
for a long time. A lot of people, man, they
ain't even made it well yeah, and they feel like
they like they can they like they should say no
to something like something that that can help them out.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
That's what's wrong with this new generation. It's not to
sound like that old nigga, but the new niggas cop
of ship.

Speaker 5 (13:11):
Yeah you got to pay me, yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:16):
But but you know what though, it's with the the
what they call it the inflation. You know what I'm
saying everybody, you know, everybody, put everybody in the mindset
of everybody having the hustle, even the young ones. Everybody
got a hustle and they gotta feed they mamas, they
gotta fear it. So everybody like I need to get
it now, Like I gotta get it.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
Like and it's like it's not smart, you know, That's
what problem is. It's stupid. Picture, it's stupid.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
But we can't even call it, call them stupid because
like they're put in a position to be like that.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Like it's like like you know heard what they said?
What you what Jay said?

Speaker 4 (13:53):
Why they call the projects the project, you know what
I'm saying, because it's a project. It's like like like
they put us there. It's an experiment, like they want
to see what's going to happen there. Like even though
even down to the Atlanta water boards, Man, look at
these boys, these I be I ain't only lie. I'm
proud of the ones that do it the right.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Way because the fact, you know what, I tried to
jump in and take my pistol, man, wow, And I
was all with them. I was out buying them cases,
buying them coolers. Like you say, the ones that do it.
I didn't want to just spread down and make sure
make it look like all alms.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
But you know, it's like that, it's like that regular life, Like.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
It's always that one bad apple, them two three bad
apples in there and you and you're like, man, I
thought I was over here trying to look out, but it.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
Was over there looking out too, looking out too. They
you know, they were looking out.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
And man, you you spoke, you're speaking highly of little
John looking back. Uh with the business dealings with you
and being me, would you say that that that the
business was very good?

Speaker 2 (15:11):
I say the opportunity was good. I don't think the
business was.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
I don't think they even was at the point of
where they have like just you know, perfect business.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
You know what I'm saying, when nobody got perfect.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
Yeah, you know. And it's like I think they did
what any record label would do. You know what I'm
saying that put put it, give.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
You what they what they want out of the deal,
and you know what they think you should have.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
And if you don't get no right the right person.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
To read it or whatever, and you just be like ship, hell, yeah,
they're not saying, hey, you better God damn look look
at this ship sign. This ship sign. This motherfucker right here.
They telling you, hey, read that if you need to
take you to a lawyer. Do that you like ship?
I'm with the opportunity.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Okay, so let me jump in right there. Yeah, you said,
I mean, I ain't gonna lie.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
I read through it. You know you you you was too.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
You didn't you didn't know no contract with exactly, so
you didn't take it to an attorney. No, But okay,
so all right, so you hear what so accountability we
got to look at that. That's what I tell artists
all the time. They provided you with an outlet. I'm
not taking those sign I'm not saying I'm just asking.
You know, how was the business you said, looking back
at it having me years later, Yeah, it wasn't the best,

(16:25):
is what you're saying.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Exactly? Okay, what's easy. But at the same time, it's
like they didn't force me to.

Speaker 5 (16:33):
Sign it exactly.

Speaker 4 (16:35):
I mean when they gave me the contract, they said,
you know, you need to take it to a lawyer.
You go ahead, let us know. But you know, as
a kid, I was excited. I was like, yeah, yeah,
let's go.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
I looked at my mom. I'm like, man, we got
time for.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
That, about to get you out of here go.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
We got you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (16:50):
And people don't understand when I say the opportunity like
I ain't getting no money to sign straightforward.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
With being me, Like you get no advance.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
I ain't getting no advanced I ain't get the advance toil.
We got the Warner Brothers deal, you know what I'm saying.
And which was you know, it was dope, you know,
because I was going off the was a yeah, and
I was going off the opportunity. I didn't care a
fuck about yeah, you know, making this, making that. I

(17:18):
just knew that, I like God gave me the opportunity
to be seen and I'm gonna use every little bit
of you know what I'm saying, And you.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Did a great job of that. I'm still in twenty
twenty four to still be relevant and still be able
to sit here with us and be I mean, that's
you took it. You seized it, bro, and a lot
of people, man, they don't. We can name a lot
of folks. Oh yeah, they had an opportunity back in
them days.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Same generation that he came from, where.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
He and you look at him, whether it's TV, whether
it's film, whether it's music, He's still rocking.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
But you know what it is, like I tell people,
it ain't even me at all. It's just the light
of God.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
Bro say that again, Like if you if you got
favor with God and he shined his light on you,
like it, now you can do You can really sleep
on the floor and people have something to say about it.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
People gonna want to see you know what, They gonna
want to see it. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
It's like you ain't doing nothing special, no more than
nobody else, because ain't nobody, ain't ain't nobody bigger than like.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
We all just look at this ship. Look at this ship.
It look at this ship.

Speaker 4 (18:25):
You and me got all the same ship, all the same,
all the same shit.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
But I come to hear you it's your fault because
I can't get.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Up to hell and we got all the same and
we got to be able to get up to hell.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
Like and it's like, motherfucker be scared to just ask
for help, and then they don't understand the definition of help.
It's like, after you already going, I'm gonna just give
you a little push.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
You know what I'm saying, it ain't no I come
and take care of your fucking life. It don't work
like that.

Speaker 4 (18:59):
Like I don't even understand how a man would feel.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Like a man you feel I'm saying, that's not.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
Even you know what I'm saying, Like if you even
if you're living off a woman like I still don't
understand how you can feel like a bad man.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
This storytelling with j Jerry Boy scrap on his as
usual dropping gems, New Face Jerry Clark were rocking out. Man,
I'm sorry, new face he.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
Brought up you know God, how influential with your father
and bringing you know somebody like got up in this too. Man,
I'm sure he had a big impact on you because
he's in the church as well. Right, Yeah, you know
my father he'll pastor, and he reintroduced me to God
when I was like three.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
You know what I'm saying. I say reintroduced because you know,
we come from God. So who was all with him
at first? So like he reintroduced me when I was
like three and then we just you know what I'm saying,
he just taught me the game. Ever since, he was
very influential influential when it comes to God. I'm talking
about like I told you, folks, man, I had got

(20:05):
in trouble at school one time. Hurst the lunch laid
out cause you know, you first coming like the bus
be late to get you to school and you be
honger and ship and then the lady seen me come in,
She's gonna snatch it down tray and throw it away.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
Man, I cut that laid out man like, Man, the fu.

Speaker 5 (20:21):
What you say?

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Going on? Chris East But you know I'm not really like,
I'm not really like from the east Side. You know what.
I ended up in the east Side.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
I thought you were from here, the east Side. They
brought you.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
You brought some real east Side.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
Yeah yeah, like no, no, no, I got I got

Dixie stayed. I stayed in on Oak Street in the
West End, stayed over there a proud road, am my
heights call home. I done, stayed over there in Mariella

(21:03):

Speaker 2 (21:04):
So I'm from the A. You feel what I'm saying.
Stayed on the east.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
Side, you know.

Speaker 5 (21:11):
Whatever what on this.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
Stayed on Cantler that you know what I'm saying, and
stayed on.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
I stayed on on that, bouncing around like that my
whole life and you know you mentioned it, but hold on, my.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
Man, I'm you know.

Speaker 4 (21:26):
I was just my daddy, like I said, he introduced
me to God, and like I said, I cut the lunch,
laid out, yeah, and they called him up there and
he had to go to work.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
Could didn't even go to work to day.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
So he losing money.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
Oh man, oh yeah, losing big money cut.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
But cud made it a real teachable teachable lesson for
him to stay home and holler at me.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (21:48):
So he said, he said what and he looked at
me and I was like, not a dog, dude, I'm like, ship.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
Definitely a difference when your daddy talked to you versus
when your.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
Talk so here and there we get to the house,
he don't say nothing the whole time, like oh, cough,
and it like whoop me or something like because getting
push up position.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
And that's worse than a whipping.

Speaker 4 (22:12):
I said, dangn he gonna whoop me and push up position.
So I get there, I'm like, wow, I said, so
I started doing pushing. He was like no, no, no, no,
he said, just the position. Just stay like there and
push up position and get on your knuckles. I was
like my knuckles, Like.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
What that'sh worse than the whipping man.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
Man, couk go get him a drink of kool aid,
make him a little sandwich.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
And saying the couch.

Speaker 4 (22:38):
Turned the TV on, and while I was at it
was like he saying like this, and it's like right
there so he can see it, Like I'm right, you're
right in front of like diagonal.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
So cud doing he looking at the TI. He started,
he was drinking, he was laughing, and I was like,
this is crazy. I'm like, well, he got me sitting
up like like, I'm like, what you want me to do?
You want me to just keep sitting here?

Speaker 1 (22:59):
Damn right?

Speaker 2 (22:59):
So I ain't even want to ask him though, you
know what.

Speaker 4 (23:01):
I'm saying, you know, so cut, get up, go back
in his room, cut the TV off and stuff.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
So I'm looking to see if I can see a
shadow cut. You know what I'm saying. We're in an apartment,
you know the light and you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
So I got trying to creep up I'm trying to
try to keep back down there, but I dropped down.
I was like, if you don't get back on the
looking at him, come out like dang.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
So he called my name. He was like, look down,
come up.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
I was like, oh, now he's FeelA whoop my head
and I said, I said, but it's gonna be.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
Over with though.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
You know what I'm saying, And the whipping is over.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Man, it came and what's up? He was like.

Speaker 4 (23:43):
He was like, let me ask you some He say,
how you feel if I if I take my shirt
and put it in my if I flip it in
there and and stretch it and go out there and
just while you and your friend playing basketball, just go
out there with some some cut short. I was like, no,
I'm like, I would that's He was like, he said

(24:06):
it's embarrassing and I said yeah, he said that's what
you did to me.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
I said, I was, I wouldn't even mean it like that.

Speaker 4 (24:13):
I said, I told you about the breakfast and he
was like, yeah, but you you talking all talking to
you talk to a grown up like that. And I
got to hear that, like he was like, man, let
me tell you something. Write this scripture right here one
hundred times.

Speaker 1 (24:28):
Damn, I'm like, what scripture was it was?

Speaker 2 (24:34):
It was the I shaid that mother, that father, you
know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
Yeah, I forgot the actual scripture, but it's that one.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
And it's like, it's.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
About it's about respect your mic down producer, Yeah, it's
about It was about like basically respecting your mother and father,
you know what I'm saying. And even when you did
respect other grown ups, it trickered down to your marching.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
Yeah, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
So, and now that we're parents, you can understand that.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
And so I'm I go and right it a hundred
times and I give it to him and.

Speaker 4 (25:16):
Because say I say so now I'm feeling you know, look,
you know what I'm saying. This thing was all day, bro.
He came and got me from school. I ain't stayed
for the rest of it.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
He said, if I'm gonna lose all his money and work.

Speaker 4 (25:30):
Yeah, you will get this lesson because say, all right,
now do the homework. This the homework they say you
were going to do today, Like okay, cool, like when
you're gonna waiting, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
You will still get that belt on that.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
Yeah, that's almost worse than the whooping. Like I know
it's coming, and.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
My sisters they come in.

Speaker 4 (25:48):
I'm like, Okay, he definitely gonna you know, not in
front of them and nothing like that, because I ain't
even like that, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
So I'm like, I'm we out of it. You know
what I'm saying. I'm out of the you know what,
did my homework. I'm in there with my sister.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
I'm like, you know, yeah, man, mama coming there, she said,
But damn what I'm like, you say that, She's like,
your daddy wants you.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
I was like, what that man, it's coming. I went
back there. Man. That man had the.

Speaker 4 (26:18):
Most rustiest brownness, the oldest bell in his hand, man
and he had he was sitting on the bed like this.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
I'm like, I'm like, what's wrong? Like you know what
I mean, Like I said, Wow, it's ten o'clock at night. Bro,
you just now come. I done took a bath from everything.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
You're the worst weapons.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
Then gonna kick the game like that.

Speaker 4 (26:43):
He's gonna tell me that this this this bullshit we
all say. I mean, it's it's definitely, definitely, it's.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
Definitely the feeling.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
But I wasn't hearing that ship when he said.

Speaker 4 (26:55):
Yeah, and then it's gonna hurt me more than it's
gonna hurt ship me. And I'm sitting there like this,
why would you do it?

Speaker 2 (27:01):
Then? You know?

Speaker 4 (27:03):
Like that, Like even my daughters come around and say
the same thing. When I was a little at her
mom on the other end of the phone, like you
better whoop you better whoop you bet not let her
get away with it.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
I'm like, it's I'm looking at it like I don't
want to whoop you. I don't want to whoop you.
I was crying with her. I was crying with my daughter,
and I'm like, I don't want to whoop you. I'm like,
stop that. Kids, Well I do pop pop stop, don't
do that.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
So no time out, none of that.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
I do time.

Speaker 4 (27:33):
I do everything before I whooped into that point for
even pop level, before I raise my voice, because that's
all I gotta do.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
I don't even got to pop up. I'll just go
down to voice.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
Hey, yeah, don't give them that look.

Speaker 4 (27:48):
Look that's it right there. Hey, Hey, I be like
two things. I like, hey, come in, but down over there,
what we're doing? What are we doing? And they're like
my kid.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
We were like we be on it, like we gotta
we gotta.

said his father sacrifice the dead work right. And I've
seen this brother countless times. Probably I'm sure he get
calls to do shows. You see his life, spending time
with his children in his house, right, And I'm sure
it's money calling us though that sacrifice.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
What I do is I made sure I can do both,
you know what I'm saying, Like because back in the day,
I would miss shows from my oldest daughter. I was
just miss shows. And I know I need the money,
you know what I'm saying. But now I know you
can work because I see the mamas do it. The
mama gonna be here with the kids and they's gonna
go work different. Yeah, they're not finna stay at the

(28:59):
house because they got kids. I mean, I don't think
nobody should. I think you should go to work and
make sure your kids are comfortable. You know what I'm saying, Like,
and uh, if you got time, spend time with them.
But see, I in my my vision, I can't go
too long without spending time with my kids.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
You know what I'm saying. I can't. I gotta have
that that one on one with you know what I'm saying.

My kids grown, I'm growing up in the house.

be three. She like I get her.

Speaker 4 (29:32):

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Enjoy them years. Oh no, I'm you got older.

Speaker 2 (29:41):

a baby at twenty one.

Speaker 4 (30:15):
You man, But but I always being a daddy.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
That is amazing to me. That that's like I'm cool
with that.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
Like somebody asked me the other day because you know,
I got an older one already and then you see
your and.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
He was like, it ain't hard, bro, like because you
got all.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
Three on which I know it's got to be.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
I say, nah, ain't nothing that you love to do.
It's hard. Like it's just like like the job that
you love to do. You don't call it work. Don't
call it work. You don't call.

Speaker 1 (30:46):
It I don't call this work. Yeah, Like, up here's
three black men able to have this.

Speaker 4 (30:51):
Like, bro, I love when I'm with my kids for
a whole bunch of time and then they want to
go and be to themself and do whatever they want
to do. And all you hear is defeat running him talking,
and you hear him arguing with each other and stuff
like that.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
You're like, you don't even know the word to say.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
You know, but it's like fatherhood is an incredible I
love it. I tell people all the time. It's the
best job. It's the most thankless job. But this is
the greatest job.

Speaker 4 (31:15):
And I talked to my dad. I was like, man,
oh man. I was like, man, man, how to hear
the daddy is always get.
