Speaker 1 (00:55):
Ready to will be amazed by the wizard of Weird.
This is range. I am Joshua P. Warren, and each
week on this show, I'll be bringing you a brand new
my blowing content, news exercises and weird experiments you can

(01:18):
do at home, and a lot more on this edition
of the show. What's the real deal with three I Atlas?
Is it a UFO? You know, it's kind of strange
that we say a UFO. Maybe it should be an UFO,

(01:39):
right and unidentified flying object, but now we say a UFO.
The mysteries of the English language. Well regardless, by now
you have probably heard bits and pieces of information about
this gigantic object hurtling toward Earth that could be some

(01:59):
kind of a base ship. And of course most mainstream
scientists believe this is just a comet, and they say, look,
it's not going to hit the Earth, don't worry. It's
not even going to be close enough to the Earth
for you to see it with your naked eyes. But

(02:19):
this thing is absolutely massive, and it is coming right
into our neighborhood, and people are They've been asking me,
of course, my opinion about this, and so I figured
I'd take some time to just sort of give you
an overview of what we know about this object right
now and what my opinion of all this is. And

(02:42):
now let me say that, of course, events are changing rapidly.
I mean, this thing is moving as we speak, and
so by the time you hear this, maybe there will
be new information to consider. But as I am recording this,
the object is now in Earth's blind spot. It has
moved behind the sun. It's on the other side of

(03:05):
the sun, so we can't see it right now, and
we don't know what it's doing exactly. So when it
re emerges here, then we're going to all be really
really intrigued to see what it looks like. Yes, it
is traveling and the direction scientists expected to travel, or
if it's made some kind of a turn. But let's

(03:25):
start at the beginning. So this is called three eye Atlas,
not three one atlas. It's called three I because this
is the third interstellar object that has been confirmed by scientists. Now,
interstellar means this is an object that originates from outside

(03:46):
our Solar system, so it's not from our Milky Way galaxy.
It's an outsider. And these objects when they come through
their visitors on a one way trip, passing through briefly
and then they exit forever. That's what these interstellar objects are.

(04:07):
This one is interesting because not only is it coming
into to our neighborhood, but it also is actually lined
up with the plane of our planets, so it's passing
pretty close to some of the planets. Obviously, this is
a podcast, not a TV show, so I'm not going
to try to paint a mental picture for you how

(04:28):
this thing is moving. But you can jump on the
net in two seconds and see pictures of all that.
The point is it's called three I Atlas, the third
interstellar object, the first interstellar object that scientists confirmed was
in twenty seventeen. The second one was in twenty nineteen,
so again this is only the third one. So this
is a fairly recent phenomenon of us being able to

(04:50):
detect these things. For some reason, it was detected by
a system called ATLAS, and ATLAS stands for Asteroid Terrestrial
Impact Last Alert System, and that is why we have
the name three one ATLAS. Now, scientists are considering this
to be a gigantic comet, and they say that they

(05:13):
believe that it has a solid icy nucleus and then
this big cloud of gas and icy dust all around it. Now,
to give you an idea of how big this thing is,
scientists are saying that this object is up to one
million times more massive than the other two interstellar objects

(05:37):
that were documented. They believe this point that it could
be up to three point five miles in diameter, that's
five point six kilometers, and it's traveling at an extremely
high rate of speed. It's going one hundred and fifty

(05:57):
three thousand miles per hour. Try to imagine that, couldn't
even see it it just it go right by, you
wouldn't see it, or sixty eight point three kilometers per second.
So yeah, it's zooming right through here, and the fact
that it's going to take it weeks to make it

(06:18):
around the Sun, so to speak. I mean that gives
you an idea of just how massive the Sun is.
And at first when people started saying, oh, I believe
this could be some kind of a some kind of UFO,
I just sort of blew it off. That's just another comment.
But guess what. Guess what scientists are not coming out,

(06:40):
real mainstream scientists Drum, Harvard and such, and they're saying,
you know, this one is doing some weird stuff that
we've never seen before and we can't quite explain. By
the way, it's going to be closest to Earth this
year on this is twenty twenty five. It's going to
be closest to Earth on December and nighttheeenth of twenty

(07:01):
twenty five, which is interesting because it's pretty close to Christmas.
Some wonder if it could have some connection to the
Christmas season, the Star of Bethlehem. What makes this object
so weird is that usually a comet, you know, we're

(07:25):
talking about basically what you think of as a ball
of ice. It has this big tail behind it, and
we've I mean, I don't know. When I was a kid,
on at least one or two occasions, I got to
see comets and it was a ball and there was
a tail behind it. Well, this object is weird because

(07:45):
it has a big tail behind it. But as it's
getting or as it was getting closer to the sun,
all of a sudden, it formed a tail in front
of it as well. And that is extremely weird because

(08:05):
you'd think, as it's approaching the sun, the sun is
blasting it, and so it's blasting all the particles back
into a tail. Why would there be a section that
looks like a little tail in front of it. It
doesn't seem to make sense. It seems counterintuitive. How could
that be? And scientists, you know again, they're perplexed by this.

(08:29):
And people who are into UFOs are saying, maybe this
is not just some natural object. Maybe this is an
object that is actually putting on the brakes, so to speak,
that as it's coming closer to our neighborhood, it's maneuvering itself,

(08:55):
and that it has the ability to, I guess, push
some kind of exhaust out in front of it to
slow it down and maybe even a just its course.
Now that would be the weirdest thing, because scientists say
that if this is just a natural comet and it's

(09:15):
just zipping straight through, which they can consider, how it
should behave as it passes the Sun's gravity, and then
it should just keep on going off in a particular
direction that they've calculated. So if this thing comes out
and it is suddenly made like a right turn or
something like that, and it's heading toward Earth, then I

(09:35):
don't know how we explain such a thing naturally. And
if you have any doubt about the legitimacy of what
I'm telling you, I mean we have. For example, I've
seen interviews with doctor Avi lob a v I l Oeb,
doctor Auvi Lobe. He's the founding director of Harvard's black

(09:59):
Hole Initial, He's the head of the Galileo Project. I mean,
he is the expert on this stuff as mainstream and
credible and respectable as it gets. And he's been out
there on TV saying it's possible that this could be
some kind of artificial guest. He said, you know that

(10:23):
right now, it's just doing things they can't explain. He
doesn't want to jump to any conclusions, of course, but
he said that you know this is the test right now,
the test period. What is it doing behind the sun?
What is it going to look like when it comes
out from behind the sun. And so this is whatever

(10:45):
is happening here. It's making some history, and it's so
far away. We still haven't gotten a really good look
at this thing. But there are people out there who
are posting pictures that they have taken an enhanced and
they say it looks like an amazingly formed crystal ball.

(11:06):
It looks much much too symmetrical to be like a
messy old comet flying through space. We got to take
a break. When we come back, I'm going to tell
you what I think about this given what we know
right now. I'm going to tell you how it is
interesting that this applies to some news about technology that

(11:30):
we are about to use in space. And then we
are going to switch gears. And I told you a
while back that a listener had an experience, a ghostly
experience up at Helen's Bridge in Asheville, North Carolina. Well,
he sat down and wrote up this experience, and I'm

(11:50):

I am your host, the Wizard of Weird, Joshua P. Warren.
Beam me into your worm whole brain from my studio
in Sin City, Las Vegas, Nevada, where every day is
golden and every night is silver. Gietato zume this object

(14:00):
three eye atlas. What scientists are saying as a comet,
They say that it could be at least seven billion
years old, older than our solar system. They think our
entire solar system is about four point six billion years old.
So can you can you try to imagine that four

(14:24):
point six billion years here and this thing is seven
billion years old? Okay, And so here's the big question.
All right, is this just a regular comet that's going
to pass through on sort of a predictable trajectory, or
as it's getting closer to our neighborhood, is it sort

(14:45):
of slamming on the brakes. Is it adjusting its speed
and its root a little bit. It's kind of like,
you know, satellites often have these little jets on them,
and occasional the jet will fire in order for the
satellite to course correct. So if it gets a little

(15:07):
bit off course for one reason or another, yeah, they
just blast it with a little jet of exhaust here
or there, and it moves it back where they want
it to be. That's what some people say they think
that this object is doing and in a controlled manner,
which would suggest that it is being artificially controlled, or
at least controlled by something intelligent, not just some random

(15:32):
object flying through predictable by normal physics. But if you
talk to scientists who say, look, this is just a
regular commet. There's nothing to worry about, nothing to see here, folks,
their explanation is they say that the sun facing feature

(15:53):
is actually not a tail per se. And there were
initial reports that called it detail. They're saying, now, no,
it's not a tail exactly, but rather it's a dust
plume that is being emitted from the heated sunlit surface
of this object where ice sublimation occurs, and it occurs

(16:16):
faster there and it ejects more dust. So what they
are saying, from what I understand, is that now you've
got the tail. But it just so happens that as
this thing is getting closer to the sun, there are
portions of it that are close to the sun that
are bursting and occasionally shooting out these flares of dust

(16:41):
that look like a tail. But it's just a temporary thing.
It blasts out towards the Sun and then it falls
back into place on the tail, and scientists say that
this actually resembles something they've seen with other distant comets,
which have been known to preferentially eject us from the

(17:01):
sunlit side of their surfaces. So now you see, this
is really about all we know as far as what
I can tell. So we have what you would think
is just a giant, normal comment that's coming in our direction. Again,
it's not. There's no chance of it hitting Earth. If
this thing is a UFO and it makes that hard

(17:24):
right at Albuquerque, at Albuquerque, it it's probably not going
to just come crashing into us. It's probably going to
land on the White House lawn. So don't worry about
it being at the end of the world. But it's
either you know, an object that's going to go through
as normal or it's going to deviate in some way.

(17:45):
And if it does that, then we'll just have to
take it from there and see what happens. Interesting Christmas present,
we're all receiving quite a mystery. So what do I
think at this point? Well, look, if I were a
betting man and it turns out I am, I would

(18:07):
bet that this is what most of the scientists are saying.
It probably is. It probably is just a very interesting comment,
and that's the likeliest explanation. I do understand what they're
saying about it being more likely that what appears to

(18:28):
be this quote unquote tale in front of it is
more likely to be temporary explosions of dust as it
kind of bubbles and bursts and crackles as it gets
closer to the sun. That's the most likely explanation. But
I also say that because that I believe that, and

(18:50):
you may have heard me say this before, I believe
that majority of the objects that we call UFOs or
maybe even you, depending on the terminology you want to use,
I just call them UFOs. I think majority of them
originate from below the oceans. And I say that because that, well,

(19:14):
for one thing, I have seen what I know is
legitimate footage of these things going in and out of
the water. For example, you know I made a documentary
about the Puerto Rico ufo around Aguada. If you've never
seen it, go to YouTube and type in Joshua P.
Warren and oh UFOs, oh UFOs and not ufo o

(19:36):
UFOs and watch my documentary. There. Not only have I
seen that, but also if you look at some of
these comprehensive maps that have been drawn up that pinpoint
major UFO sightings all around the world. They tend to
cluster around the coastlines. And also, I mean, outer space,

(20:00):
believe it or not, has been much much more explored
than the bottom of the oceans. You've heard this before,
and it's true. We know more about outer space than
what is at the bottom of the oceans. And that's
because it's actually much much more difficult to sustain yourself
at the bottom of the ocean. And everybody's looking up

(20:21):
at the sky all the time. I mean, we have.
You wouldn't believe the amount of space junk floating around
up there. Humans are just we're junking up our whole
world and our our whole galaxy. And you know, Elon
Musk I heard he was doing an interview one time

(20:45):
and he was saying, you know, I am constantly looking
into space, and I'm planning on sending people to Mars,
and you know, I'm constantly studying everything there is to
be known about space. And he said, if I saw
evidence of extraterrestrials flying around out there, he said, that

(21:05):
would be the biggest tweet of all time. He would
jump on his X thing previously Twitter, and yeah, he
would tweet that, and I mean I believe him. I
believe he would do that. So look, I think there

(21:26):
are things that are flying around out there. Don't get
me wrong. I'm not saying that there aren't UFOs that
fly through space, but I'm saying I think most of
the stuff that we call UFOs probably are based somewhere
under the ocean, and they come out and they do
fly around in the sky and they do all kinds
of crazy things. And then there are I'm sure a

(21:47):
le three of different objects out there. So my bet
is this is just going to be another comment, but
a very interesting one. But you know, I'd love to
be wrong. I think before I die, I would love
to see a UFO come right down there on the
White House lawn and see what the green men look like.

(22:13):
At least I think I would. So that's my opinion
on that. But it's also interesting that I mentioned that
some people are taking images of this whatever they've got,
which are kind of rough, and supposedly NASA has got
some better images, but as I record this, they have
not released them yet. The explanation I've heard is maybe
it's government shut down, but that is also kind of odd.

(22:37):
But people who have taken some people who've taken images
of this thing that exists, and they zoom in and
they enhance it. They have these pictures you may have
seen where it looks amazingly like a beautiful symmetrical crystal ball.
Too nice for a comet basically. And I thought it
was interesting that I saw this article a couple of
days ago at foxnews dot com and the headline is

(23:01):
living in giant Moon glass spheres could be our future.
Excuse me, my allergies are acting up. Living in giant
moon glass spheres could be our future. NASA and sky
reports actually Skyports. NASA and Skyports team up to turn

(23:21):
lunar dust into glass homes for astronauts. One day we
might see glowing cities of glass scattered across the Moon's surface,
shining softly under Earth's light. NASA is teaming up with Skyports,
a California based company, to explore how lunar dust could
be turned into massive glass spheres strong enough to live in.

(23:45):
These futuristic, transparent habitats could become the first real homes
for astronauts on the Moon. The first thing I thought
of when I read that is I've actually seen pictures
before from I think it's the moon where it. It
actually kind of looks like there may already be some
glass structures up there, some you know, tunnels, and I

(24:10):
know there's definitely like what appeared to be some towers
up there. That's a whole other thing. I won't get
into that right now, But what they're talking about now
in this article is more or less sending machines up
there that can take this fine lunar dust and then
sort of three D print it into this you know,

(24:30):
symmetrical looking house, and it does. It looks like a
glass ball. Okay, we're going to take a break. When
we come back, I want to finish up on this topic,
and then I want to read to you this report
that I just got fresh from a listener who ventured up.

(24:52):
He was brave enough to venture up to Helen's Bridge
in Asheville, North Carolina on a dark, foggy, spooky night,
and he had an experience that he said he will
never forget. I'm Joshua Pee Warren. You're listening, Nick, You're
listening to strange things on the iHeartRadio and Coast to

(25:12):
Coast AM Paranormal Podcast Network, and I'll be back after
these important messages. Welcome back to Strange Things on the

(25:59):
iHeart Radio and Coast to Coast AM Paranormal Podcast Network.
I'm your host, Joshua Pete Warren, and this is the
show where the unusual becomes usual. You know, I've talked
to some people who still don't understand exactly what three
D printing is. I have a small three D printer

(26:22):
here in my workshop, and it is. It's amazing because
you can make almost anything you can imagine with it.
But if you still don't really understand what I'm talking about, well,
imagine this. When when you have a regular printer that's
printing ink on a piece of paper. Let's say you

(26:43):
print a line of ink. Now that line of ink
it appears flat, but actually it is a little tiny
bit higher than the paper. You need a microscope probably
to see it, but it's a little layer in so
it's obviously going to be a little bit higher than
the paper it's on. So if you went back over

(27:06):
it and you printed another line on top of that,
and then another line on top of that, another line
on top of that, it would keep getting taller and taller,
and so that's pretty much exactly what a three D
printer does instead of ink, though you have plastics all
kind you can use. You can use almost anything really
that's kind of gooey that will harden and you just

(27:30):
you know, you can print a line over and over
and over and eventually you'll have a wall that raises up.
But you're not just restricted to lines. You can print
in any kind of configuration you want, and you just
print layer by layer by layer, and it's a magical
thing to watch something come out of a nozzle layer

(27:51):
by layer over hours that builds up into a three
dimensional form. And that is the future of construction, I'm
sure of it. That is certainly how we're going to
colonize the Moon and I guess Mars someday, because you
don't need to drag all these construction materials up there.
You just take the equipment up there that is able

(28:12):
to tap into the dust, and they'll take that dust
and they'll turn it into some kind of combo, some
sludge or whatever that will harden kind of like probably
how like a maybe like an adobe or something is made,
and then you know, they'll print houses there are people
printing houses already right now here on Earth. It's this

(28:34):
is not you know, far too the future. It's happening
right now. So this is the thing though. They are
talking about on the Moon, how that they will have
these glass spheres, and it says these will be self contained,
self sustaining ecosystems. The glass can repair small cracks caused

(28:58):
by micro meteorites or moonquakes, and the solar panels there
there will allow each habitat to generate its own energy.
Go read about this if you're interested. But I just
thought it was kind of funny that, you know, we
have these stories about like glass structures that people think
they see on the Moon and possibly eve in Mars,

(29:19):
and then and now people are saying that this object
coming toward us looks like a glass sphere, And at
the same time this article comes out about how we
are looking into creating these glass spheres. So take all
that into context. Isn't it funny when you hear somebody
like me tell you that, oh, this commet's been around

(29:43):
for seven billion years, that's what they tell us, and
you have no way of understanding what that means in
real world time. Our solar system here for four point
five or four point six billion in years. What does
that mean? Do you think that in that period of

(30:04):
time that this is your one life, this is your
one shot, This is your tiny, tiny, little blip, hardly
even a blip, hardly even noticeable. You are so insignificant
that this is all you get. I watched the interview
with Carl Sagan recently and he was getting close to death.

(30:30):
He had cancer, and the host of the show asked
him what he thought about, you know, in afterlife, and
he just kind of smiled and said, he says, I
think death is a long, dreamless sleep. So in other words,
lights out, and that's pretty much the end of it
as far as we are concerned. I saw an interview

(30:54):
the other day with filmmaker Woody Allen from years ago,
and he was being asked about, uh, sort of the
meaning of life, and he was he was saying, well,
you know, every hundred years, no matter what happens, no
matter who you are, every hundred years, there's a new
group of people. Every hundred years. It's like somebody, you know,

(31:16):
flushes the tilet and we're all gone. Now there's a
new group of people. So it doesn't matter if you're
the president, or if you're a bank robber, or if
you're a pauper, or you're a multi million whatever, it
doesn't matter. In a hundred years, a whole new group
of people will be here. So how you know how
significant are any of our problems? I was listening to

(31:38):
philosopher Alan the Watts recently and he was talking about
how it just relax, you can't change anything. Yeah, it
makes you wonder, doesn't it, because I mean, how much
choice do you really have? I mean, you didn't necessarily
choose to be born where you were born, or look
the way you look, or maybe have some of the

(31:59):
talents that you have. And yet we do have these
very odd cases where people are reincarnated, and you know,
you have like these musical prodigies. You have kids like
Mozart who just come out of the womb and they're
able to sit down and play, you know, concertoes and stuff.

(32:20):
I believe that there is an afterlife, obviously, and I
believe that because you know, I am conscious right now,
and I don't think that that can just be turned
off forever. I think that you are always going to
be conscious in some form. Now. Granted, I know it's
weird when you go to get your surgery and they

(32:40):
put you under and everything's black, and you know, I
don't even dream when I'm under anesthesia. It's actually great
because my dreams drive me crazy. I'm such a vivid dreamer.
But I believe that we go on, and I have
a lot of reasons for believing that. And you know,
that's one of the things that's fascinating about Eddie and
ghosts in the spiritual realm. You know, I grew up

(33:03):
in Asheville, North Carolina, heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains,
and one of the most famous haunts there. It's called
Helen's Bridge. I wrote about this and a book called
Haunted Ashville, the first book of Ashville ghost stories ever published.
I wrote it back in nineteen ninety five. As a
matter of fact, you can read it for free as
a PDF. If you sign up for my free and

(33:26):
spam free e newsletter at Joshua P. Warren dot com.
You'll get an email that's got a link to that book.
Among other things, there's a story in it about Helen's Bridge,
creepy old bridge over this steep ravine next to a
haunted castle called Zeelandia and the story of Helen's Bridge

(33:48):
is it's a good one. I mean, you know. Basically,
the legend is that there was a woman in the
early nineteen hundreds named Helen who hanged herself from the bridge.
She was so distraught because her daughter had died. A
lot of people say her daughter died in a fire.
And to this day, if you go up around the

(34:08):
bridge you say Helen, come four three times, well, then
Helen will appear. And the fact of the matter is,
we have never been able to prove that a woman
hanged herself from the bridge and that her daughter died
in a fire. But there are a lot of tragic
things that surround that property which may have contributed to

(34:28):
this lore. For example, one of the women who lived
in that castle next to the bridge did die in
a fire. She was a rich woman and she was
staying at a hotel in New York and the hotel
caught on fire and she ran outside and it was
a miracle she made it out, and then she said,
oh my gosh, my pearls, and she ran back in

(34:51):
for her pearls, and she never came out. So people
would have associated fire with the castle because of that.
And then there was. Certainly there was a caretaker of
the property who killed himself. I think he shot himself,
so there's definitely no death that I could go on
and on, but nobody knows for sure, like exactly what
to think of the Helen story. But that was always

(35:14):
the thing to do, go up to Helen's Bridge and
see if you conjure up Helen. And I've had many
spooky stories, many many spooky experiences up there that I
tell stories about. And just about everybody I know has
a spooky story who grew up around there. Well. There
is a gentleman who is a supporter of the show,
big Fan. His name is Lee. He lives in Florida,

(35:36):
and recently I read a review that he gave a
wonderful review after coming to Ashville and taking my Haunted
Ashville Ghost Tour. We actually have two tours. One is
the classic Haunted Asheville Tour. The other one is the
Supernatural Tour, which digs more deeply into the uccult. He
took both of those and he learned about Helen's Bridge,

(35:59):
and so Lee decided one night after a tour to
drive up to Helen's Bridge to see if he could
have some kind of an experience himself, so he drove
up there and let's see. This account begins October seventeenth
of twenty twenty five, he says, and he wrote this

(36:24):
to me and to Tad McDivitt, who is the guide
for the Supernatural tour, and Tad actually took him on
the classic tour. Tad's been with me for I don't
even know how many years. Tad's a wonderful guide, he says.
Here is my story, Lee says, Joshua and Tad, here
is my story of my Helen's Bridge experience, he said.

(36:49):
My wife, Francine and I went on the Asheville Supernatural
Tour with Tad October seventeenth, twenty twenty five. It was
an amazing tour and was incredible, as I've already emailed
you that experience. At the conclusion of the Supernatural tour,
I asked my wife if she wanted to drive to
Helen's Bridge, and she reluctantly agreed. I was like a

(37:11):
kid in a candy shop as we drove, in anticipation
of what may happen based on the many accounts I
have read about and you have shared on your podcast.
We'll see how happy the kid in the candy shop
is when we come back the rest of the story.
I'm Joshua pe Warren. You're listening to Strange Things on

(37:34):
the iHeartRadio and Coast to Coast AM Paranormal Podcast Network.
That I will be right back. Welcome back to the

(38:20):
final segment of this edition of Strange Things on the
iHeartRadio and Coast to Coast AM Paranormal Podcast Network. I
am your host, Joshua P. Warren. And if you are
coming from downtown Asheville and you're heading to Helen's Bridge,
it's already kind of creepy because you go through this tunnel.

(38:41):
You drive through a tunnel on tunnel Road, and when
you come out of the tunnel, you take a left
and you start driving up this long, windy road going
up this mountain, up this mountain, until finally you round
a bit and lo and behold. They're above this narrow ravine.

(39:05):
Is this old stone arch bridge, and it looks like
something out of an old European horror film. Been there
a long long time. So let's see what happened to
Lee and his wife when they decided to go up
there at night. I'm going to kind of edit this
as I read it, because he gives some details that

(39:26):
road names and stuff that would be meaningless to most
of you listening, but they're valuable for me and Tad
because it helps us understand more about where he was.
So he said it was about ten thirty pm when
we pulled onto Tunnel Road, and then he said he
headed up the mountain. He said, the streets are nothing

(39:46):
but dark as you climb up the side of that mountain.
As you know, very few sparsely located homes that line
the road with very dimly lit porch lights. Now, as
we climbed the mountain, driving the road, making blind turns, switchbacks,
et cetera, I could not find the bridge. My GPS

(40:11):
was telling me exactly where to go, but as I
arrived at the mark location on my phone's GPS, there
was no bridge. Well, this was strange anomaly number one,
he said. I proceeded to drive back down, checked my
GPS and try again. I double checked the Helen's Bridge location,

(40:34):
and off we went once again. The only difference on
my path was that I turned left at one point,
the opposite direction I turned on my first trip up
at a T intersection. Even though my GPS was telling
me to turn right. But keep in mind it was
dark and you could not see more than fifteen feet
in front of you from my car headlights. The sides

(40:56):
of the road were one hundred percent in the black.
As I drove up this steep hill, I looked at
my GPS and this is when strange anomaly number two occurred.
I am a tech geek and love electronics, so I
know how to use my phone and my GPS. For

(41:17):
those that may not be familiar with how your GPS works,
let me quickly summarize. Your car, if you're driving, or
your body if you're walking, is marked with an arrow,
and that arrow stays still as the map scrolls under
your location arrow. The underlying map also rotates as you

(41:38):
turn and continues to scroll either up, down, left, right, diagonal.
I looked at my phone mounted on the dashboard of
the car, and I watch my location arrow move straight
up and to the right as the underlying map stood still. Eventually,
my location arrow went off of the side of the

(41:58):
map and I had no idea ida where I was
at this point. Now I had four full bars of
cell connectivity. I can't explain it. That is anomaly number two.
It was this point I realized maybe something did not
want me to find Helen's Bridge. We finally gave up

(42:20):
that night decided to go back to our hotel and
come back the next day to scope out where the
bridge actually was located in the daylight, since we could
not locate it in the dark. So the next day, Saturday,
we drove up our same route with a couple of
different turns, and we finally found Helen's Bridge. The crazy

(42:43):
part was that the GPS put the location of Helen's
Bridge right where it actually was, whereas the night before
it had put it in a location that was about
a quarter of a mile away. How do I know
for sure because I placed a pin on my map
when I had arrived the first time the night before
to mark where it actually took me. Anyway, after we

(43:07):
found Helen's Bridge in the daylight, I made notes and
took pictures of the places we could park somewhat safely
and non illegally. The next night, Sunday, at around ten
thirty pm, my wife and I ventured out once again
to find Helen's Bridge, this time knowing exactly where it was.

(43:29):
It had rained most of the day on Sunday, so
it was foggy and wet, which made things even eerier
for the events that were to come. We once again
drove down, turned off on tunnel rode. This time I
knew the exact route to take. As I drove up,
I saw a spot was available, so I pulled my

(43:49):
sedan off onto the dirt nose in. We'd finally made
it to Helen's Bridge at night, and I was about
to cross it at around ten four forty five pm.
Excited and spooky for sure. Now let me pause and say, folks,
you park below the bridge. You gotta walk up the

(44:10):
ravine to get up to the bridge. There's no road
over it anymore. It was just for cattle back in
the day. See, you don't drive over this bridge. You
park below it, and you get out and you walk
up to it, and then you walk over it. So
he walks up to this bridge, he says. After spending
around twenty minutes on the bridge and trying to connect

(44:32):
my senses with the environment, I decided to look around
at the slate and granite constructed bridge to see if
there was a loose stone I could take as a souvenir.
Uh oh, he said, I felt nervous and a bit scared,
and I am not one to scare easily. I found
nothing on the surface ledge of the bridge's stone railing,
so I decided to feel on the overgrown greenery at

(44:55):
the base of the stone railway, and voilah, jackpot, I
found piece of what looked like granite or quartz, perfect
size that fit in the palm of my hand. I
held the stone and tried to connect once again with
the bridge and any spirits that may have been present,
and it was then that something told me, do not
take this stone. I thought twice, because I really wanted

(45:18):
to have a piece of history from the bridge, but
I listened to my intuition and connected my inner self
and I put the stone back back where I found it.
I wanted to respect the bridge and not disrupt anything there,
to leave it as it was, and I did. I
went back to my car parked on the dirt next

(45:39):
to the bridge, and if you're familiar with the area,
there's a switchback in the road. I pulled my spot
next to the bridge forward facing, so now I had
to back out into the blind switchback in the dark.
I would then turn right up the switchback before attempting
to back down into the spot with the rear of
my vehicle and then drive for down the mountain, so

(46:03):
he's maneuvering his car right, He says. This is when
anomaly three occurred. As I backed out of the spot,
I kept a sharp eye on the pitch dark to
make sure no cars were coming, and as I looked
over my right shoulder, I spotted a light coming up
the road, but I realized it was not a car.

(46:25):
It was a person walking up the steep hill with
a flashlight swinging in their right hand, close to the
side of the road. I stopped for a second to
judge how far away that person was to decide if
I could make the planned U turn before they reached
the top of the switchback. They were about fifty maybe
seventy five yards away. I watched their flashlight swing at

(46:47):
least three times before putting my car in drive to
start the turnaround. I started to move up the switch back,
and as I rounded the switchback very carefully, to my astonishment,
there was nobody there. Nobody, no person, no flashlight, nothing.

(47:09):
I stopped the car and stared and thought maybe the
person had made the switchback was headed south up the hill,
so I backed my car up slightly to see the
south facing road, and there was nobody there. Nobody, no flashlight, glimmer, nothing.
I proceeded to drive down the hill rather quickly, but

(47:31):
as safely as possible, to put some distance between me
and whatever that was. Back at the hotel, I sat
there with my wife and went through the three days
and nights at Helen's Bridge, and I smiled. I had
gotten exactly what I had hoped for, an experience that
was truly indescribable rather than supernatural. Number one, Helen's Bridge

(47:55):
being shown on my GPS in a location that was
a quarter of a mile east the actual location. Number
two my car arrow driving off the side of the
GPS map of my phone, leaving me not knowing where
I was. And number three the mysterious flashlight person who
showed themselves to me and then vanished within ten seconds

(48:16):
of me making the turn with my car. Amazing and
something I will have with me for the rest of
my breathing life and maybe non breathing life. Thank you
Joshua for telling me about Helen's Bridge, and you and
Tad for the ghostly and supernatural community. From astonished, happy

(48:36):
and thankful. Lee. Well, Lee, my friend, welcome to the
Helen's Bridge Club. Methinks you may have seen a spirit
with a light and now folks here it is the
good Fortune tone. That's it for this edition of the show.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
