Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let us pray a man's gift, maketh room for him,
and bringeth him before great men. Proverbs eighteen sixteen. Father,
thank you for the unique gifts you have given to
each one of your children. You've invested something different in
each one of us. As I yield to your plans
and purposes, you develop and perfect the message inside of
(00:23):
each one of us. As that gift grows, when we
learned how to utilize it for your honor, you will
use it to bring us before great men. Joseph is
a perfect example. You gave him a dream that he
had a glorious coat of many colors, and he saw
his brothers bowing down to him. It was then he
was trained and prepared in the school of hard knocks
(00:45):
to build his character, to purify him to be trusted
with the greatest of his gifts. After accusations, imprisonment, and
repeated rejections, he was brought before the king and made
second in command to fare. His gifts were developed in
the midst of adversity, and his character was matured through hardships.
(01:07):
When he surrendered all hope to you and relinquished his
human pride, you opened the door and lifted him up
his character and gifting made room for him, and he
saved Egypt from the famine. Teach me to humble myself
before you and yield to the school of your Holy Spirit.
Mature my character with wisdom, and develop my gifts that
(01:30):
bring honor to you and not my pride in Jesus name.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Amen.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Thank you for listening to today's daily prayer for more
inspiration and an incredible message from our feature pastor stay
tuned to pray dot COM's Sunday service.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Looking so great in their freking garb as well. Amen,
And we're grateful Pastor Anderson into all of these pastors
and ministers, these mothers, Amen to each of you. Is
just good to be in the house of the Lord
one more time. We started off with January Unstoppable, that
God is going to give us dreams that just won't die.
(02:20):
As we were looking at the life of Joseph, and
I want us to continue to look at the life
of Joseph, but I want us to take it to
the next level. Because what happens when God gives you
the dream, what happens when you reach the gold? How
do you now begin to pass it on to generations
(02:42):
coming after you. How do we now began to realize
our destiny? This blessed my soul, This bless my soul.
Some twenty years ago I married Amen, the Fosters, and
and and boy, there have been members there since. Well.
(03:03):
They was telling me that chance jump up right quick, chance,
you're still young, chance valedictorian of his graduating my school plan.
And and so how do you know, how do we
affect these generations coming after us to make sure that
(03:25):
they stay in school and study hard, and go on
often and then come back and be all that God
have called them to be. And so this month I
want to be looking at not only the dream that
wouldn't die, but I want to take it to the
next level, the destiny that couldn't be denied, the destiny
(03:45):
that couldn't be denied. I must say I appreciate the
fact that Bard and Bates Amen are on stage with me.
Amen and Amen, that blesses my soul, That blesses my soul.
And so how do we create these destinies for this
upcoming generation? Genesis chapter fifty, Genesis chapter fifty and verse
(04:06):
fourteen through twenty one. Genesis chapter fifty and verse fourteen
through twenty one from the New Living Translation. If this
is your first time here at ground, if you're visiting
and you would like to follow along with us with
the notes, and you can always text the words BMBC.
If you text BMBC to three one nine ninety six,
(04:28):
the sermon notes will come right there to your phone.
But Genesis chapter fifty, beginning of verse fourteen. After burying Jacob,
Joseph returned to Egypt with his brothers and all who
had accompanied him to his father's burial. But now that
their father was dead, Joseph's brothers became fearful. Now Joseph
will show his anger and pay us back for all
(04:49):
the wrong we did to him, they said. So they
sent dis message to Joseph. Before your father died. He
instructed us to say to you, please forgive your brothers
for the rape wrong they did to you, for their
sin in treating you so cruelly. So we, the servants
of God of your father, begged you to forgive our sin.
(05:13):
When Joseph received the message, he broke down and wept them.
His brothers came and threw themselves down before Joseph. Look,
we are your slaves, they said. But Joseph replied, don't
be afraid of me and my God that I can
punish you. You intended to harm me, but God intended
(05:34):
it all for good. He brought me to this position
so I could save the lives of many people. No,
don't be afraid. I will continue to take care of
you and your children. So he reassured them by speaking
(05:55):
kindly to them. Amen, if we're going to have that
destiny that cannot be denied, here's the first thing we
got to do, Brown this morning. Conquer the division. Conquer
the division? Amen? How big is your dream? How big
(06:16):
is your dream? Do you just dream of possessions and prosperity?
Do you just dream of fame and fortune, of parties
and prestige? How big is your dream? Is your dream
only concerned about you and what you can have? Do
you just want to dress clean and ride smooth and
(06:38):
have a nice cree? How big is your dream? Or
is your dream bigger than yourself? Is your dream big
enough to make a difference in those around you? Is
your dream big enough brothers and sisters to impact the
future generation's coming after you? Is your dream big enough
(07:00):
to care even formed the season? Saints who have helped
to bring us to where we are right now. You see,
as we celebrate Black History months, y'all, I'm thankful that
there were those in our past who dreamed big dreams.
Their dreams were big enough until it affected the destiny.
(07:25):
And we are yet enjoying a better destiny even today
because of those who dreamed big. We said it last week,
we said it the other couple of weeks ago. Look,
I was not even born when doctor King gave his
life in nineteen sixty eight, and so many of us
(07:46):
brothers and sister we weren't alive during the Civil Rights movement.
Yet we are enjoying the doors that they opened. We
are enjoying the walls that they brought down. We are
enjoying the opportunities that they created, the faith that they embodied.
We are enjoying the wealth that they left behind. And
(08:08):
so here's what I want to share with all of
us this morning, Brown, is that, since God's purpose for
your life is to change the destiny of others, dream big,
but be even bigger. Since God's destiny for each one
of our lives, God has a purpose for us, and
(08:29):
it is a purpose that goes beyond just yourself God
wants you to impact those around you. God wants you
to change the destiny of somebody else. The only way
that can happen. Y'all, we got to dream big, but
we must be even a bigger person. Let me say
(08:50):
this way, Brown, God has not called you to be
just a dream chaser. He wants you to be a
destiny changer. He hasn't just called you to be a
dream chaser. When we were young and we have those dreams,
we set gold. We wanted to have this much at
this particular time. We wanted to drive this sa live there.
(09:14):
We set those gold. But I'm glad that I have
lived long enough until I realize it's not about me.
But how can God use me to impact of the individual?
And that's why I thank God for the dream that
wouldn't die. I thank God for speaking to Joseph early
(09:35):
on at seventeen and did not allow that dream to die.
But I thank God even more for the destiny that
couldn't be denied. God is going to use Joseph to
sustain his people. God is wanting to use Joseph to
really save an entire world. God is going to use
(09:55):
Joseph to make a change in the destiny those around him.
And how did he do it? Because Joseph dreamed big,
but was even a bigger person. So how do we
do it, Preacher? How do I do it now? How
do I make sure that not only am I impacting
my life for those that are coming behind me. You
(10:16):
got the dream big dreams, but you got to be
even a bigger person. In your spare time, and your
spare time write it down right now. But in your
spare time, I want you to read Palms one twelve.
I want you to read Palms one twelve because it
talks about how blessed are those who fear the Lord
(10:37):
and delight in obeying his command. It talks about the
fact that God will impact you to be a blessing
to other folks, that even your children will be successful everywhere,
and this will be an entire generation of godly people
that will be blessed. And that's what I'm asking God
to do. God, give us some generation blessings. Give us
(11:01):
some blessings that go from our children, to our children's
children to our great grandchildren. God, we want to be
the generation of those that are blessed. We want to
change the destiny of others. And so we start by
being a bigger person. Three simple statements. I want to
give you this morning, Brown, and I'll let you go.
(11:23):
First of all, you got to be bigger and show forgiveness.
You got to be bigger and show forgiveness. I called
this the payback to pay back. You gotta be bigger
and show forgiveness if you're going to change the destiny
of those around you. Verse fifteen. Look what the Bible says.
Now that their father was dead, Joseph's brother became fearful.
(11:46):
Now Joseph will show his anger and pay us back
for all the wrong we did to him. Old brothers
and sister. They were scared, and rightly so. I mean
there had been exposed there, the hatred of their heart
had been revealed. And now their only coveringt Daddy, what's
(12:08):
dead and gone the boy. They said, Joseph's gonna show
enough get us now, he gonna let us have it.
Now we some goners now, And yet Joseph was the
bigger person and forgave them. I believe y'all. I think
I can't prove it, but I think they were lying
(12:30):
to Joseph. They said, Daddy said you gotta be nice
to us, please forgive us. And yet the Bible said
Joseph wept and he had so much forgiveness and compassion
for them. He was the bigger person. What is God
said to us this morning. If we want to conquer
the division, if we want to keep from being divided
(12:52):
and keep this stuff and settle all of this mess
that's going on, we need to let go of past
means we need to let go of past pain. Do
you not know? We can't make the future better if
we're still bitter about the past. And this is what
I love about Joseph. He's not holding on to what
(13:13):
they did to him in the past. He's not gonna
hold it over their head. He's not reminding them of
the fact that y'all sold me, y'all wanted to murder me. No,
Joseph was the bigger person, and he sold forgiveness. Oh
somebody today, brother, than so of somebody today. They lied
(13:33):
on you, They talked about you, they scandalized you, they
tried to sabotage your job. But I'm here to tell
you this morning, let go of the past pains, Let
go of the past pain. Despite all that they did
against you, God didn't allow it to overtake you. And
(13:54):
you're still here. You're still alive. God has blessed you.
You're still successful. The song that said, what didn't kill
men made men strong? God? Why because God was on
my side? And so let go of the past pains.
You see what keep us divided at y'all, is we
(14:15):
keep remembering what folks did to us, and we want
to take them back. And yet Joseph said, no, I'm
gonna be the bigger person and forgive, but not only
be the bigger person and show forgiveness. If we want
to conquer these divisions and see the destiny, y'all, we
(14:37):
need to be the bigger person and see favor. Be
bigger and see favor. I call this the flashback. I
call this a flashback because look at verse twenty again,
Joseph is wanting to reply to them verse nineteen. Don't
be afraid of me, am I God that I can
punish you. You intended to harm me, But God, God
(15:00):
intended it all for good. He brought me to this
position so I could save the lives of many people.
Flashback fleshback. Joseph said, now, now, now, what you meant
to harm me. God took it and made it help me.
(15:21):
What you meant to destroy me actually has developed me.
What you meant to stop me, God took it, turned
it around and started something in me. What you did
as evil in me. For my life, God has worked
it out for my good. And Joseph said, not only
(15:45):
has God worked it out for my good, but God
has given me a better position so that I can
be a blessing to other individuals. And that's why I
call it a flashback. I called it flashback. Brothers and sister.
Nobody ever have a fleshback, and anybody ever think back
to where you come from, and you know that you
(16:06):
don't deserve where you are right now. You know you
shouldn't be here. I mean, you shouldn't have the jobs
you have, you shouldn't be wearing the clothes that you're wearing,
you shouldn't be living where you are living. And you
understand that it was nothing but the favor of God.
And so instead of walking around moping, instead of walking
(16:27):
around complaining, instead of walking around talking about what.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
You don't have, you are able to be thankful to
God Almighty from his faith.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
I thank God for the fleshback. I thank God for
the fleshback, because I've come to the point that I
reck lie that if I never had a problem, I
wouldn't know God is a problem solved. If I never
had mountains, I wouldn't know that God can give me
strip to climb mountains. If I never had some real use,
(16:59):
I wouldn't know that God can give me.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
I prays all the trouble lot up, and so I
thank God for the faith that I'm Joe and right today.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
And so we want to bring down these walls. We
want to bring down these walls of division, be able
to work together to make a change even and the
generation is coming behind us. Not only let go of
the past pains, but thank God for your present position.
Thank God for your present position, Joseph said, He has
put me in this position to save the lives of
(17:38):
many people. Where you are right now is because God
has favored you. Don't don't, don't. Don't don't have her
think you got here by pulling yourself up by your
own bootstraps. Don't don't you become so arrogant. Don't don't
don't get lifted up in pride, because let me tell
(17:58):
you something. You can be up today and down today.
You can have it all today and have it all
taken away today. But you better stay humble. You better
say thankful that what I have. He gave man, what
I know. He talked, Man, where I am? He broke man.
(18:19):
If it had not been for the God on my side,
where would I be? But thank God for favor. Be bigger,
be bigger, and shore forgiveness. Be the bigger person. Am
see favor? Then, No, we need to be bigger and
save the future. We need to be bigger and save
(18:41):
the future. I called this to give back. I called
this to give back because look at what Joseph said
in verse one on one. No, don't be afraid. I
will continue to take care of you and your children.
So he reassured him by speaking kindly to them. Joseph said,
(19:03):
I'm going to give back. I'm want to give back.
I'm want to give back. And look, look, God's been
so kind to me that I want to take care
of you and your children. Oh, talk about the heart
of Joseph to love everybody, even the ones that had
done him wrong, the ones that had sold him out.
(19:26):
Talk about talk about the eyes of Joseph to see
the needs of other individuals even beyond his family, and
he was willing to give back to impact even the
nation of Egypt and the entire world talk about the
hands of Joseph, so strong and so generous until he says,
(19:49):
I want to take care of you and your children
and everybody else. This is how I know, This is
why I know Joe so wasn't Baptist. I wish, I
wish he was Baptist. I wish he was Baptist. I
wish he was. But I gotta be honest with you.
I know Baptist folks, aymen, after thirty one years, I
(20:10):
know Baptist folks. And the Bible says not only did
Joe save this, but he reassured them by speaking kind
to them. That's why. That's that's that that that told
me right there, because see some of us God blessed us.
And when Mama and Daddy got gone and it was
(20:31):
left in our hands, and and we came to some
of them, some of the family members came to you.
My mamma said, you need you need to let me
stay here. I'm gonna let you stay here. But let
me tell you something. If it wasn't for Mama, I
would put your sisself out on the street. You see,
we we wouldn't. Yeah, Joe, Joseph, No, no, no, no,
(20:51):
I love you. I'm gonna take care of you. You
don't have to be worthy. Why it was because of
the fact that Joseph, and here's my last one. We
need to embrace our powerful purpose. See, Joseph understood something.
God has put me here, and my purpose now is
(21:15):
to change the destiny of those coming behind me. And
so I want to take care of the family. I
want to take care of the country. I want to
take care of the community because God has given me
a purpose that is beyond myself. Brown, I need all
of us to embrace our powerful purpose. You see. God
(21:36):
has not called us just to be consumers, but he
wants us to be some producers. God has not called
us just to be takers. He wants us to be
the givers. God have not called us to be on
the receiving end. He wants us to be on the
releasing end. God has given us a powerful purpose, not
just to be the boerers, but to be the linen does.
(21:59):
God has given us the purpose not just to be
the students, but the professors, not just to be the voters,
but the mayors and the senators and the president. God said,
I put you on top. I have made you the
head and not the tale. I have used them you
in order to change the destin there of those around you.
(22:22):
And so Brown this morning, be bigger, Be bigger, be
the be the bigger person, Be the bigger person. What
keeps us from moving ahead is because we keep fighting
and struggling among ourselves. We allow them the jealousy and
the pride and the anger and what folks did to
us and said about us. Some of us right here
(22:45):
today are still holding on to some church hurts what
they did to you five ten years ago, and you
never got over it, and you don't even want to
work and to serve him the church today. But God,
it's say him this morning, Be the bigger person. I
know you've been hurt. I know they lied on you.
(23:06):
I know they don't deserve your kindness. But be the
bigger person. Be the bigger person, and refuse to resist
of the temptation to get back even with them. Refuse
to retaliate, reject the retribution, resist the revenge. I want
you to be the bigger person aboard. They ain't God,
I halt the hatred, stop trying to get even with
(23:30):
those that did you're wrong, and be the bigger person.
That's all what God is saying this morning. Brown, I
got greater things for Brown Baptists. I know I've been
with y'all one hundred and thirty eight years, but I
got some more height that I'm trying to take y'all
more levels that I'm trying to take you higher too.
But Brown, in order to do that, we gotta conquer
(23:52):
the division. We got to stop the pettedness. We got
to stop the bigger in We got to stop fighting
among us, say stop being jealous of this one. I'm
jealous of that why? And we got to come together
on one accord. Because when we work together, when we
strive together, when we praying together, that's nothing would be
(24:13):
impossible for us to accomplish. That's why my heart is grieved, y'all.
That's what grieves my heart. Even when I look at America.
God has blessed America with the land of the Free,
the home of the brig No matter where I travel
around the world, I'm thankful for America. And yet we
(24:35):
got two many Duncans and the elephants divided, fighting like
cats and dogs, and the very destiny of our nation
is at state. And God is something to saying. Somebody
need to be the bigger person. Somebody needs to be
the bigger person in your family, the bigger person on
(24:56):
your street, the bigger person in your community. Oh, I
hear what you're saying, and Preacher, I'm tired of being
the bigger person. I'm tired of being the one always
to initiate reconciliation. I'm tired of turning the other cheek.
I'm tired I'm letting folks walk on me like I'm
a done man. I'm tired of being some revolving door
(25:20):
for family members to come in and out. I'm just
tired of being the bigger person. But can I tell
you something, Brown, Why I'm not tired of being the
bigger person, Because my Jesus was the bigger person. He
didn't have to, y'all. But he left his home in Glory,
came down to this world. He left the streets of gold,
(25:42):
and yet he came down where he said. Foxes have holes,
bears have nests, but the son of Man have nowhere
to lay his head. I'm so glad he was the
bigger person. He went around healing the sick, making the
lame to walk and the dawn to talk. He fed
(26:03):
the multitudes, He tried to help everybody that And yet
in the midst of his goodness, they lied on him.
They plodded against him, And one Thursday night they arrested
Jesus on trumped up chargers, put him on, tried, brought
in some lion witnesses and fried them on, and put
(26:27):
on the cross on his back. They led him up
the count rip, and there on the cross Jesus was
the bigger person. Came to see Jesus hanging there on
the cross. He never stole anything, but he got nails
in his hands. He never lied to anybody there, but
(26:49):
he got a crown of thorns around his head. He
never he never did anything wrong, but he got spikes
in his feet. And he died for your sinners. I
hear the folks saying, if you're really the son of God,
come down and save yourself. But oh, I'm so glad
(27:12):
he was the bigger person. He died, He died, He died,
went down in the grid, but e send the morning
he got up with all power in his hands. Thank
you Jesus for being the bigger person. For Sam, come
(27:33):
onto me, all ye that are heaven there, and I
will give your rest. Take mine yoke upon you, and
learn of me to mine yoke. As he said, my
burden is right. I'm glass that when I done her wrong,
when I strayed away, Jus was the bigger person. He
(27:58):
forgave me. For if we confess our sins, he is
faithful and just to forgive us and pre cleanse us
of all on our righteousness. And so on. From this morning, Brown,
dream big, dream big, and be the bigger person. Dream
(28:22):
big and be the bigger person. But I thought about
the thing. I thought about my granddaughter, my granddaughter, Brooklyn.
She likes drinking coffee with us. And so what Valorie
I did? We gave Brooklyn her own little teacup. It's
a pretty small teacup, but it's just big enough for Brooklyn.
(28:46):
But good God on my dad. I thought about the thing. Too.
Many of us in the church we're just like this,
all small teacup. We got small minds, We only think
about ourselves. We got small goals, small dreams, small aspiration.
(29:07):
We only want to live well right now. But God
is said I didn't call you to be a small
manet thinker. I didn't call you to be a small player.
I didn't call you with just some small dreams. But
God said, I made you somebody, and I have called
(29:32):
you to be a destiny changer and the lorn and
where to be a destiny change. You got a dream big,
You got a dream big. You got a dream big.
Don't just want to work for the company. Dream big
to own the company. Dream big. Don't just be satisfied
(29:58):
just being the lawyer. But you are a dream beef
so you can become the church that can give out
the sentence. You are a dream bid. Don't just want
to sit in the class here, but dream bid so
you can be the professor.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
Dream bad eyes have not seen p is, have not
her what God has in stom for each one of us.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
Dream big and be the bigger person to deal every reputter,
love ever repot it, bring down the walls, up the vision.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Yeah, thank you, Jesus, Thank you Jesus.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Do I have any dreamers? Do I have any dreamers?
Who's gonna dream big? It ain't just about me, but
it's about my sons, it's about my grandchildren. It's about generation.
Dream bid, use us life, use this lit dream bad,
(31:16):
dream bad, and be the bigger person. Don't get wrapped
up in the petty stuff. Somebody has rightly said, small
minded folks only talk about other folks business. But when
(31:38):
you're the bigger person, you make your own business. Dream
big and be the bigger person. I believe God has
birth some dream in here today, even this year, twenty twenty. God,
(32:08):
I've already again to talk to some of y'all. I'm
stretching you because I want you to make an impact
and change the destiny of those coming around you. So
here's what I want to do before we open the
doors of the church. But I want to pray. I
want to pray. I want to pray. I want to
(32:32):
pray for you. If God is stretching you saying I
want you to start businesses, I want you to start
some companies. Maybe God is stretching you and saying that
I want to call you into ministry. I got to
work for you to do to impact and to change
the destiny of those around you. If you know that's you,
(32:56):
meet me at the all time, Meet me at the
all time, Meet me at the altar. He is able
to do exceedingly abundant man, but all that we can
ask or a thing. God want to raise up some
millionaires in here. Millionaires, not just so that you can
(33:17):
buy the jet and fly everywhere for millionaires, so that
you can impact and change the destiny. God is stretching you.
God is stretching you know who you are. God is saying,
I'm tired of you being broke. I'm tired of you
being sick. And I've called you to greater for your
(33:43):
family and for your community. I asked the earlier service.
He said, I want you to text me what that dream,
what that vision is. I want you to give me
your name because I want to pray with you and
I want to pray for you. Have already again to
see some who said I'm starting businesses this year. We
(34:06):
need each child and brothers. It's enough of us in here, brothers,
and it's just enough of us around this at right
now to impact our community, our streets, our schools, for
generations to do.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
You will be like God.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
Human unity with God was severed, and through it all
God's promise remain true.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
Follow me and I will make it great.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
This is the chosen people. Listen to the Chosen People
at the chosen people dot com. That's the chosen people
dot com.
