Speaker 1 (00:02):
What's up? This is the people shark hair at Damion
John and I'm here back with another motivation moment for
you courtesy of that Moment with Damian John, a production
of The Black Effect podcast Network and iHeartRadio. Now check
this fact out. According to a study from Deloitte, eighty
seven point seven percent of employees in America are not

able to work to their full potential because of a
lack of passion for their work. And let me tell you,
as a business owner, I can tell when my employees
are not active and engaged and when they do not
have a passion for it. You see, employees won't necessarily
tell you what they're most passionate about because they either
think that it's going to take away from their primary job,

or the boss might think that they don't care about
what they're currently doing. But whatever the reason is, it's
not always clear to the employer. Now, as an employer,
I often try to check into my employees and find
out what their passion. Remember when you were working at
a job, It's all about the two things you can
control in life. There's only two things. The lens that

you look at something through and the action that you take.
If you are not passionate about your job, why don't
you try to find other things in the job that
you can do or you can learn from. Remember, there's
a lot of people around this country and the world
that pay a lot of money to go to school
to learn. I didn't have a formal education. I didn't

necessarily love serving people at Red Lobster, but you know what,
I was getting paid to see how the restaurant business
was doing. I was gonna spend the same eight hours
at that Red Lobster every single day. So if I'm
gonna spend those eight hours there, even if I don't
like some of the customers, maybe the business, maybe I'm

having a bad day, I'm not going to be disgruntled.
I'm going to learn how to operate a business. And
that is exactly what I did. So I cannot say
that you're going to have a passion about that job,
but you know what, you're gonna have a passionate about
what you will learn to take away from that job
to get a better job, run your own business, or

to learn the industry or the type of job you
don't want to have in the future. Anyway, that is
my motivational moment and Thank you for listening and tune
in every single Monday and Tuesday. Four new episodes up
That Moment with Dan and John brought to you by
the Black Opec podcast and Network. Check it out wherever
you get your podcasts.
