Speaker 1 (00:08):
Man, you're gonna up this shop because we get started
a day open that out there. I go. You know
what that means? You don't know what that means? Whatever
the market, I mean it was black money, black people.

(00:29):
That means you ain't come get it. I'm getting come
get it. Welcome to the black market. First of all.
First of all, first of all, respecting shit here with
us today, and we're gonna get right into it because
we got a whole last shop to talk about. Due.
So you say y'all started in his apartment, Yeah, I

(00:49):
let Jared so man, so in produced yourself. First of all,
I'm Jared Patterson. This is my business partner, my brother
Jason Hawkins, got one hundred percent of Respected Roots right here.
Respective Roots as a brand. We knew a whole lot
of things that we're gonna get into it, but primarily
we are natural grooming line created for everybody to have

(01:10):
skin in here. So people ask who can use it?
It's for everybody, but the main reason is because it
weren't products for our people, for our skin, for our
hair types on the market, right. So everything that we
do is natural. We stay plant based. We got everything
from body washed soaps, hair moisture rises, beer condition or
body butter, which is our number one Southern product, cold

(01:31):
washed for your beer. And we brought gifts for all
of you guys. So yeah, before we get out of here,
we got gift baskets. And if I knew all of
y'all have been here, read about more. But I think
we got you covered. You know what we had. You
can always come back. Smell like man, that's what every game,
that's what. That's what get us hooked. Yeah, you know

(01:51):
you need you need. You know they smell real drop.
You don't if it don't smell good. Like we like
to talk. The example, the first thing you do when
you wash your clothes is what put them till, you know, right,
So if it don't smell good, you're not gonna wear it.
That was a big issue because products that was natural,
they didn't have a good smelling fragrance. Sometimes it's very

(02:13):
very earthy. So like my brother Jason was slam Man.
It started out of necessity. My family has a big
culture of natural products. My mother rocked the hot top
fade in the eighties and all of that. Your mama
had one she had one man. She used to do
all the natural medicine and natural oils and kind of stuff,
which was the inferspiration for that first product, the beer

(02:34):
condition Hell yeah, so the beer conditioner is all natural
and shade butter. All black people love shade butter. That's
why I was missing with a little about it. Yeah product, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
So that's the thing for everything. Man, got oils, beard oil,

(02:54):
hair hair oil. Rose hip is the main oil in there. Yeah.
You want you want to be good together for you
get through all them products. Man, that's one of the
ones right there. Yeah, Man, fragrance is amazing, bring you
back to life right here on the set. He can
use all of these together, right, absolutely, he messed rather

(03:14):
be catch on fire because four different thing, ain't. Man,
You just don't touch the body butter. So that's actually
a real popular question, man. People want to know do
I use the beer condition to first or the beer oil? Really,
my preferences to use the oil lass as a finisher. Okay,

(03:35):
so people's preferences to use the old first and then
the beer conditioner. They are natural products, right, so you're good. No,
I'll see y'all put the candle out right here and
they you ain't gonna catch it. On fire. You ain't
need to do it right right, appreciate who I ain't
do it who did, but should like it. Spread on that.

(03:58):
It's plant based too. It's gonna burn along. Yeah, man,
the culture. Man, I do want to take a second
to thank you two brothers. Marcus was just up here.
Awesome brother. We're just always passing each other in the
city of Atlanta. What you guys are doing for the
community is amazing. I don't know if you realize it
or not. I'm sure people are telling you, but sometimes

(04:20):
when you're end up doing you don't you don't like us.
We're moving so often, man, and people that tell us
we love what you're doing. I'm like, man, I'm just
working right. So thank you guys for having your nose
to the grindstone, being pillars in this community. What you've done,
you know what I'm saying. Being on TV man, the
same spirit that we see coming through that television, it's
here right here today. Man. So thank you. Probably ten

(04:42):
years fifteen years looking back from now, you know, you
might be hosting a talk show where you want to
take your career whatever you want to do. Any man.
Maybe we was over on Morrow, man, and so Thank
you brothers, Jon, Thank y'all for comer, Thank y'all creating
this product man, and let people know where it's a available.
People are gonna be watching and want to know. They're

(05:02):
gonna want to smell the body but in the oil
and want the whole kit man. So where can they
pick it up? Yes, sir, you can. You can purchase
our products online at respected roots dot com. We started
out as an e commerce business eight years ago, but
we also have stores and popular malls like Lenox Square,
the Gallery in Houston, Pentagon City, and DC. We're very
hairy populated in our areas where our people live. What's

(05:25):
the next step where y'all want to take the brand to?
It's unlimited. It's really unlimited because we have two sides
to our brand. We have the non for profit which
is our respective whose Brotherhood initiative with Jadd and I
going into the high school specifically APS where we work
and we work with the Phoenix Academy there, you know,
led by principal use of Muhammad. We're going in. We
work with our young African American males ninth grade to

(05:47):
twelfth grade. Specifically, we teach them life skills, things that
we know they're not learning in school things we know,
like to have financial literacy, how to deal with conflict
instead of using aggression, how to use your head, you know,
don't how to start a business. Yeah, and that space
entrepreneurship is one of the things that we teach, you
know what I'm saying. So it's the fifteen week curriculum
outside of our for prophet side. You know, we've established

(06:08):
the groundwork to what it is and what we're doing
now is, you know, trying to scale our business even more,
but also being trend setters in the industry, teaching people
because there's so many other people who's trying to make
products of their own and they really don't know what
to do outside of making their products, and a lot
feels as though the apex is to go onto the
shelves of big box retellers. You see what I'm saying.
We chose opposite of that. We were invited to go

(06:31):
to some of the top big box retellers that you
guys know of, and we went. We listened to their stories,
but it didn't appeal to us. You know, as I
mentioned to you, we're one hundred percent owners and we
don't have no desire and we're not sell ours. We
don't have to. Oh, we'll check this out. It's just
crazy that it's such a small world. You got a
whole line of plant based products. I got a partner

(06:52):
right there. Everything he do is plant based actually, yeah
right there? Yeah great, you got something this Yeah yeah, yeah,
I know if he used it, it's really playing based
because he gonna look up all the ingred right yeah, yeah,
she shop with us. Man, he comes to vide us Atltics.

(07:14):
I don't know how many times he don't been for
that because he's a shopper. He's an avid shopper. He
shops everywhere. He goes everybody the support man, we appreciate
because it's not only him, but you know, all you
guys just for having us on the show, right, we
appreciate that. That's what this whole platform is for. Man.
It ain't just about us, man. We got to open
it up to everybody in the community. And you know
what I mean, let people know who is dope amongst

(07:36):
us so we can support. You know, we're glad you
kept it independent too, because, like you said, they buy
up all the black brands and then everybody get mad
because it ain't the same product because they're making it
for a bottom line instead of making it with a
purpose and the reason. So yeah, but if they want
to back sell it to him, then start another well,
a lot of times you can't do that. We gotta

(07:57):
get our own, we gotta get our money here. We
don't knock. We don't knock any other brands who who're
taking that step, you know what I'm saying, because we
also understand the process and the urgency sometimes, you know,
when you when you are myself, you know, entrepreneur, bro,
You're gonna have your highs and lows, you see what
I'm saying, And you're competing in the market that is
saturated with thousands of people who are trying to put

(08:18):
something in the marketplace. Right. So a lot of times
when somebody's brands they offered this money, you know, maybe
fifty to one hundred million dollars, they see that because
they you know, they their products are on these shelves
at the big box retailers and they may be moving
forty fifty million pieces forty fifty million dollars globally, but
they're only receiving like eight million dollars of that. Those
big box retailers is taken out. We opened up carts

(08:41):
and malls. We get one hundred percent of everything we
own it. I see what you're doing. We're showing out
people how to do it. And a lot of times,
you know, we all heard the saying, you know, all
money and good money, right, So we've been approached many
of times and we still say the same thing. You

(09:02):
don't got enough in that bag talking. Sometimes we gotta
turn it down the powers in saying no. Yeah. So look,
I know some people are gonna be watching this and
they're gonna want to They're gonna want to reach out
about the program that you spoke about for the young men.
So where can they look up more information about that? Yes, sir,
please go to r RBHI dot org. That is r
RBHI dot org. That's respective RUSS Brotherhood initiative. You learn

(09:25):
more about our mission, what we're doing, our initiative with
the kids, how we interact with not only would our children,
but also becoming a sponsor. We bring We just had
our first career fair for our kids after the curriculum
is over. We brought in about four to five different
companies IBEW. We are familiar with electoral workers here we
had a local eighty five city, right, So they're teaching

(09:48):
our young men trades, right, So you can't take that
from them, you see what I'm saying. So if they
learn that business, they work within that business five six
years later down the road that you start talking about entrepreneurship,
then you start bringing the people in. Y'all got any
products that's like, specifically for the ladies, all of our
products are unisex. The ladies typically gravitate towards towards this products.

(10:08):
Gravitate towards this product here, which is our here and
scout boil. Uh. Ladies love to here right here, this
body butter man. Uh, it's great for me and a women.
Kids as youngest two years old, they really love that product.
The body wash has an amazing fragrance to it. We
don't put any chemicals. A lot of ladies like how

(10:29):
that How that works for no chemicals? No the eyes,
no colors in the product. And even the phone and
co wash they use that. So my mother put me
home game really she said that phone and co wash
that you have is amazing. I said, that's you know,
I didn't intend it for the ladies. Well, how are
you using you said, why are you using to remove
my makeup? It's water base, It's very gentle on my skin.

(10:52):
It's got olive oil inside of there, so it doesn't
strip all of the natural oils away from your body.
Because God gave us will be me right, and sometimes
we get in the way right. Sometimes we like, I
got too many pimples. Let me wash my face mo
times a day. Oil because you need some oils. So
we have we have a realistic, holistic solutions to problems

(11:15):
that people are trying to fix themselves. And we try
to keep everything unisex. The only thing that's exclusively for men.
Because what you're seeing that gold can the beer condition.
Ladies ain't trying to go to bears. There's something. It's
some ladies out there. They might want it. You know
what I'm saying that they might want it. I want
I want to say this too, man. Bro was just
talking about our vhi dot org. You got any golfers, Man,

(11:38):
We host a golf tournament every single year. This year
will be our third annual. We call it the Golf Classic.
I might not play golf, but I might pull up.
They need some shit talkers at every event. We gotta
have it. Got that footage right, Carlos little little talk,
he ain't gonna get We gotta only nigga they can

(12:03):
talk shit and whisper still man. But this year we
partner with Shout Toy Lawn. That's what we'll be there
in September. What's the weekend is that Labor Day weekend?
Labor Day weekend September three, and the second we'll have
a mixture the second the night before or we have everybody. Yeah,
we come out at midnight. We're gonna do a rock
the Rock the Range where we do some long drives,

(12:23):
get surprises away. Uh. It's having fun venturing out into
new activities, you know what I'm saying to you, but
still keeping our swagger. What we're doing because we focused
on the young men. That's the bottom line. So and
RBA dot org, rb HI dot dot org and respected
Ruth's Brotherhood initiative. We need more volunteers. Yeah, how can

(12:45):
people because we bring you know, we bring people in
from the community that relate to our young men. We
just recently had a young man that retired at the
age of twenty four. He creates NFTs and so when
he came in to speak to our young man. You
got to see how the eyes light up. You see
what I'm saying. I know the younger generation, the millennials
and the Generation Z, a lot of times they hear

(13:06):
a lot of people talking about them. You know what
I'm saying that y'all, y'all, y'all ain't listening. Y'all entired
on y'all blah blah blah. But let me tell you
that the smartest generations, you see what I'm saying, they
need what we have to get to them so they
can push forward. They're the ones who's breaking these chains.
They're the ones who's pushing these barriers down. So instead
of talk about it, be about it, you know what
I'm saying. So that's why we do what we do. Show.

(13:28):
Then I want to shout out to our website if
y'all want to get any of these products. We are
located here in Atlanta, here in the city. This is
the eighty five South Show, and I know y'all love
y'all amazons. With people that order in Atlanta, you'll typically
get y'all products the next day or in two days, right,
So we've got awesome shipping here in the city, and
even if you're not here, we get your products in

(13:49):
the male same bay most of the time. That's, of course,
the water on a weekend or something. Our website is
respected roots dot com. It's our Eespec t E D Roots,
our olts dot com. And we even have more products
than this. We didn't bring everything. We got to pick
