Speaker 1 (00:08):
Before we go to work. Come on, man, we got
work to do. It's time to get serious. It ain't
no time for me to be in hell with my
shirt off showing my tattoos. Don't make me go back
to the streets. I just got out them streets.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Man.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Come on, I'm trying to get on the path of
righteousness and you know, uplift the community. You feel me,
I'm trying to be by my business. Like these brothers
right here, they got all kind of anxiety. Fragrances, multiple fragrances.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
They in here.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
They about to bring back s curls.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
You play too much jail in.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
But it's it's seriously time for me to let the
people know that the black markets back over. Now on
this one, I'm gonna do this different because the name
of this company is already my favorite. So I'm gonna
let them say it because I don't want them to
think I'm playing all right, So look, this is what.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Y'all gotta do.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Y'all gotta look at the camera and introduce yourselves and
tell you about this company, because.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Yeah, you yeah, My name is Anytime Buriola, co founder
and creative director of Flourish, the largest platform to shop
and discover black on brands.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
Steve Canal, CEO and co founder Flourish, and this is
definitely spot to scale and discover black on brands.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Now, what is flourish.
Speaker 5 (01:29):
Flourish is the spot, bro.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
You know when you with the woman you find that
g spot.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
That's what flourish.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
You know what I'm saying This Spot company, I mean
we might got a product like that because the point
is hollered is candy coated. I think the point is
to be able from the time that you wake up
to the time that you go to sleep at night,
have a touch point and experience black on brands. So
whether it's a shampoo, your toothpaste, your toothbrush, your your
beard oil, your clothes, the pancake mix, the I mean,
(02:00):
the fragrances, cards, the cookies with the tabletop, everything gotta
be black on. Imagine that cause at the end of
the day, what that means is if you have one home,
right and the p the products in the home are
all black on.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
What does that mean for the founders? You about to
go down. I'm just messing with you. You know they
did that shit.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Could you imagine how that's supporting the black community?
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Right?
Speaker 3 (02:23):
In the economy, right, allowing us to flourish, allowing us
to flourish.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
I see how you think? Yeah, like what this is going?
So how did all this come about? Man?
Speaker 4 (02:31):
We wanted to create a platform to eliminate the search.
Speaker 5 (02:35):
Right.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
You know, when you find a black owned such and
such or black owned such and such, you go on flourish.
Speaker 5 (02:41):
Everything's there, form vegan, lip.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Gloss, flat out of hills, you know, like you said,
pancake mix lip bomb.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
You can find everything that that location.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
But in addition to that, we created the opportunity to storyteller.
Speaker 5 (02:54):
So brands, we create content and match them with influencers,
and we.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
Also activate events, right, so it allows the brands an
opportunity to get discovered. We just did a partnership with
TD Jake's and launched Good Soil where we were able
to bring down twenty three black on brands to get
exposure in front of two thousand people who attended the event.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Right.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
We just south by Southwest where you know they were.
I we what we brought down about.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Fifteen brand, fifteen brands.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
We got about five of them to come on stage
and the able to talk about themselves and their journey
and their brand. You know what I'm saying in front
of twenty five you know, thousand people that are coming
in and out throughout the weekend. So it's an opportunity
for exposure. But you know, for any time in US,
it's in our DNA. You know what I'm saying, being
able to support black owned brands and be able to
support our people s. You know, it was up to
(03:43):
us to make this decision to to push this forward,
and we j we accepted that challenge.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Same reason why you do it? You know what I'm saying,
Like the that that feeling you get, man, like we
sit here and watched you know, like you get to
put these people on a platform. It's not just a
a brand or a founder, it's a people, man, this
is our people.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
You're able to legitimately change their lives. You know, like
one of our brand partners got a hundred thousand dollars
uh grant a Good Soil event we just did. Right,
We're putting people in position like overnight their lives are changing.
Another another brand, we had them design the merchandise right
for Good Soil.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Right, so we changed their lives.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Overnight and that's that's literally the there's the there's this
this this gap between this wall that our brand's hit
as they're trying to scale, Like you're gonna hit a wall.
You might make a million, you might make a hundred thousand,
you make make five thousand. Eventually you're gonna be saying, well,
how do I get into the retail?
Speaker 2 (04:33):
How do I do this?
Speaker 3 (04:34):
I don't have the resources of the network or the
relationships to get this part of the business. Then it's
gonna take me to that next level and make me
really compete.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Just so, and that's exactly why I do this.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Yeah, right to have a platform and to not do
something like.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
That, it's just be crazy.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Cause people need to know that our people are here
doing different things. They got the clothing brand, they got
the the food, the snacks, the desserts, the cologne. We
they need to see us in all our greatness. So
this is exactly what the black market what's freezing?
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Exactly? Shout out to the black market.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
How did y'all link up on the business and stuff?
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Man? Man, you want me to say who you wanted
to get this story good? And we got two different perspectives.
So I went to fam you and shout out to family.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
We were with the Classic, the Atlantic Classic, and they.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Got all the people who'd have been on fam You. Oh,
family was heavy. Man like the more the more people
like and Clay Clay I went to We came in together. Yeah,
Fall two thousand.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
So I was at this event at the at the
Dome and he was at the Georgia Dome and he
was like in corporate. So I snuck up in the suite,
Me and my homie snuck up in the sweet He
was the only black dude in the suite a bunch
of all these white folks, and I was like, man,
I hope this dude don't call us out.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
And he just let us kind of kick it there.
He don't know. I don't think you knew us.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
But I was like, and I was watching him handle business,
and at the time I was just, you know, I
was a young kid doing some wild stuff. But eventually
I started just to see him in different spaces and
I ended up writing three best sellers three books before
I was doing this. Yeah, and we connected when he
was at another company. He was working at UH corporate
company and Uh he was doing a tour with Damon
(06:09):
John and really pouring black dollar, I mean pouring money
into the black community via the corporate dollars through pitch
competitions and stuff. So I kind of saw him moving
and grooving like that, and I I reached out to
him to do, like to get involved, and he's like,
I'll holler at.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
You when you're ready.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
And I thought he was kind of just you know,
kind of playing me left, but he actually hollered at
at me when I was ready, not when he was ready,
but when I was ready, when I was in a
position to where it made sense for the relationship to
get extended further.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
So we ended up going on tour together.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
He wrote a book, a bestseller, The Mind of a Winner,
and in twenty seventeen, I think it was we took
we combined a tour book to what I was going on, Yeah,
exhibit great tour and UH tour domestically sold out, toured
globally Australia and just sold out everywhere and UH and
then did different ventures with the the Homie Kenny Burns
(07:00):
went on different tours together as well, and conn just
built our relationship and I learned like how he does
business to pace it, what he does business, I saw
y'all here bouncing ideas right, right, and imagine that I
did is actually going into execution yea. And then you're
looking at it's like a moving product. So I saw
how quickly he moved and saw he was almost like
this missing piece you know, to my creative mind where
(07:21):
he could actually execute and teach me a lot of things.
So it was like this mentor turned business partner, right,
and we've been rock and sence. We had this idea
in twenty twenty with Flourish, and you know it, it
didn't exist. It was a bunch of lists. If you
wanted to find a black brand, I e. I either
had to ask you what you're wearing, go on ig
and search, or look at along the rest or director
(07:42):
of your brands.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Right. So we try to make a seamless, you.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
Know, experience where people could just go to one place
casually and find all the d dope black brands they
like and support us.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
Right, And you know, being on his journey's been phenomenal
because it's opened the eyes of the corporate partners as well. Right,
because we filter the brands. We have over three thousand
brands that are trying to get onto the platform. And
we're educating them on what they need to do to
get onto the platform. Some of them might need better
photo photoshops, so we have photographers we sync them with.
(08:13):
You know, some of them need finance, so we have
financiers who work with them.
Speaker 5 (08:16):
You know, some of them need better.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
Product description or copy, or they just need that extra
push right of direction and guidance. So that's what you
find at Flourish. It's not just the e comm platform.
You find a place where you're getting put on in
a myriad of ways, right from event execution to being
getting distribution into retail. We just launched the Shade Room shop.
(08:42):
We just launched Good Soil with TD Jakes. We have Flourish,
So you know how you think of a Walmart Target
and all these different big box distribution outlets, we're doing
that virtually as well. Because when you think about the
Shade Room, they got forty million in their audience, right,
so when we rate a platform, you're actually on their
(09:02):
space and they're posting about you every day. We've done
over seven million dollars worth of post on the Shade
Room for the brands to be.
Speaker 5 (09:09):
Able to get that exposure.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
They're all getting a million views per post. Think about
what that does to their family, what that does to them,
and the legacy they're building by building this community. And
they all work together, you know, thinking about you know,
three PLS distribution, you know, thinking about manufacturers, where can
I get a better Coston T shirt or a hoodie?
You know, So this community we work together, in this family.
(09:33):
You know, we have over two hundred and fifty brands
on the platform.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
That's all y'all like gatekeeping stuff all that, Like that's
that expired with twenty twenty men. Like we're on a
different wave I think culturally where you know, we're collectively
finally contributing. It's like cooperation and less competition, you know
what I'm saying, Like we're finally on one accord and
it's lasted long enough.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
It's year three.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
So I know a lot of people were afraid, like
when is this, mom, We're gonna end?
Speaker 5 (10:00):
Nah?
Speaker 2 (10:00):
We here, it's it, nah we hear. We're literally right
here on the Brunn's couch and it's weird telling me
about some of this good spamlings. Oh man Yo.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Shout out to Terrence Pratt with memoir Fragrances. He's got
an incredible story and an amazing brand. He collects, you know, fragrances,
and he's been collecting for years. His his collection, his
entire addict dedicated to just wall to wall, bigger than
the department store. Right, So his his knowledge on it
is crazy and he had a passion for it.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
And one time, you know, I was like, Yo, what
are you wearing? Bro?
Speaker 3 (10:30):
He said, my own stuff. I said, you gotta be
kidding me. So I said, do you sell it? He said, no,
don't have any intention to. I just do it for
myself my wife. You know what I'm saying, Like I said,
d you know you got there's no way you can't
botel this up. So down the line from you know,
from different conversations we had, he he came out with
a product.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Ted, tell me how the snow man. M You know
what I'm saying, I'll let you do it.
Speaker 6 (10:49):
Yeah yeah, yeah, hold just the one.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Yeah yeah, that's one of the ones.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Check out sleeping bronsbell real quick. Yeah. My dog said
he want one of them. We got, we got you. Yeah,
you already called up a man. That's just smell amazing. Yeah,
you don't keep doing that. Smell like money, smell like money.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
You don't need everything we got you, man, We got.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
Everything on here is black On.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
Yeah, we love.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
We got kindred paper which makes cards. Black On got
you your set for Mother's Day. So we've got JeI
Lao which has hung up. Got you your member's jacket.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
Come on, man, it's mine. Yeah, shp. You ain't gotta
take you the doors man, That's all I know. You know,
we try, we try to bring on everything black On.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
We try to make sure we bring the culture and
to your point, the high quality that is being produced
by these brands, right because the stigma to black On
brands is customer service is poor, you know, quality is poor,
such and such, such and such.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
But with this, with Flourish, you're gonna.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Find high quality brands that are there that are read.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Now, where can they Where can they go and catch
up where they need to go to be.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
A part of this movement?
Speaker 5 (12:07):
Definitely?
Speaker 2 (12:07):
How can they get they products on? Gotta follow the
f Yeah, follow the f with us man Flourish. Flourish
dot com.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
You know you go to Flourish. You can apply as
a brand right on the website. It takes like twenty
seconds to apply as a brand. You say, what app
every building we're building that we're building that.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Yeah, proof of concepts, serve concept yes, sir.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
And you go on flourish dot com with the Y
you'll be able to apply as a brand. We go
through the process, we zoom everybody so we have face
to face conversations and make sure you're prepared for the platform.
Once you're on the platform, sync through our technology in
the back end. It'll take about fifteen twenty minutes. You're
on the site ready to roll, and then based on
(12:48):
you know, your brand, if you're ready for it, cause
some brands, you know, taking a step back when he
was talking about retail and category leaders within this space,
you have to understand that just because you have a
dope brand doesn't mean you're ready, you know, for for
the action when it comes to the distribution.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
And you love to tell ready. You might not be ready.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
But when you know a big box retailer says I
need fifty thousand pieces next, you know, next month, you got.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
To be able to deliver.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
If you don't, you're dead to him, right, So we
want to make sure we put you in that position
for success. So if you come through our platform, you're
on flourish, and you're ready.
Speaker 5 (13:26):
For a TSR.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
The shave room shot, right, you can get distribution through
the shaved room. That's a whole other ballgame, right when
it comes to the awareness and the visibility of the brands.
So it's our job to be able to talk to
the brands and understand who's prepared for that moment and
who we need to coach to be prepared for that moment.
But regardless, you're gonna have that opportunity.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Yeah, that's what's up man.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
Now, if you hit him and you tell you you
ain't ready getting your feelings, you're just not ready. He
even told his partner, hit me when you ready.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
Yeah, So that's advice though, But for me, right, I
purposely went to corporate to learn how to run a
billion dollar business. Right, I coined the term corprepreneur. I
was in corporate, but I was still an entrepreneur, right,
So I learned what it took to push a machine right,
you know. And then when going on tour with Damon
(14:18):
John from Shark Tank creator Fuobu for five years and
supporting and seeing what it took for businesses to scale
and succeed, we took all that insight and poured.
Speaker 5 (14:28):
It into what we're doing as well. You know what
I'm saying. So this isn't something we just made up
out of the sky.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
We know what it takes to be in retail, We
know what it takes to scale your business. We know
what it takes from a social perspective, the content to create.
So we put you into that cycle, in that community
and from there just do the work.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Yeah yeah, well man, what's your social media?
Speaker 6 (14:49):
We're gonna make sure we promote, promote, promote.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
How can my audience get in touch with you one
more time? I gee? We flourish everything across the board.
We flourish with the y F L O U R
y s H.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Showing your shirt, mame right, flourish and personal burial Esque

Speaker 5 (15:08):

Speaker 2 (15:13):
How can they get your books? Man? Oh man, it's
all them. Tell them about the book. I didn't.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
All of them will be on Flourish, by the way,
but Amazon wherever books are sold.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
Honestly, burial Asque.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
Is the first book the contemporary gentleman in Etique Book
for the Urban sophistic Kit. Second book is Gentlewoman Etiquette
from a from a Gentleman Etiquette for a Lady from
a Gentleman. Third book is The Gray, a Relationship Etiquette Study.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
So it's all.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
I mean, Etiquette is just a way to maneuver relationships,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
It's the way that the tools do you use and
maneuver relationships. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
I think a lot of people get misconstrued and they
think it's a bow tying a suit and you're sir,
and it's not.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
It's not who you are. It's not like what you do,
what you put on. It's who you are.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
It's the tools that you use to navigate who you
are and maintain your identity.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
And the book I released called The Mind of a
Winner is also available and it's available on Audible as well.
Got Damon John and there Barbara Corkoran got two chains
in there as well. That's inside the NB on T
and T all in the books, sharing insights of how
they not only attained success but sustained it over time.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
You know what I'm saying. And all that's in there
for you.
Speaker 6 (16:21):
Well, look, man, I appreciate you y'all stopping through here.
This is y'all first time coming yea last, absolutely not.

them just lay stuff out.
Speaker 2 (16:42):

Speaker 1 (16:43):
You know the best part about y'all, bruh, I ain't
even have to tell y'all my side.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Man, y'all's welcome over on the black Market.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
Brow open, yes, heard, and that's how we live.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
And let's get a photo. Thank you for the record book.
I appreciate you, man,
