After another loss on Saturday to rival UCLA, is it possible Lincoln Riley could join Caleb Williams and leave USC after this season? The guys went to Provo, Utah to visit BYU as part of the series "Too Much Access" and had a chance to chat with long snapper, Austin Riggs, punter, Ryan Rehkow and head coach Kalani Sitake! Plus, with CJ Stroud shining and Bryce Young continuing to struggle, should the Panthers regret their draft choice this past spring? And what needs to happen for Louisville to make the CFP.

dot com for details. Whistle let's start the show, parley
we missed?

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Oh guys, well, if we were to.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Mention the Michigan game. First, they did win. That was
a close game, and.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
They were up by double digits in the first half.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
And I'm not even talking about covering. Mostly I'm talking
about they're supposed to still be mad. Have they run
out of madness? They did win, and you know, hardball
wasn't there. But next week, man, that's the game. It's
the game of the yame of the game of the year,
game of the life.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
I thought it was last week, So I'm happy it's
this week. Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Yeah, I think it's Michigan minus four as of right now,
but Hardball will not be on the sideline.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
And I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
I think if one of them beats the other by
seventeen or more, one of them won't make the playoff.
I think if it's within single digits, I think one
absolutely makes the playoff. I think if it's ten to sixteen,
depending on where that touchdown falls. Because again, these are

(01:38):
computer plus human vote. It's a combination because the humans
do feed in a lot of the information that the
computer then takes and builds in algorithm four and says
this is our order. But if it's over seventeen, I
just don't see. Like last year, one of them will
get kicked out.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
So you're saying computer does it first, then the humans
vote on it.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
I say that the humans get to put in a
lot of their bias and perspective, and I don't know,
humans always screw it up, though sure it's not just so.
I know they're trying to make it as as computer
as possible. But I was reading the story about how
even if you computerize everything, the human has to actually

(02:15):
set up the computer.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
So true. What do I know, dude?

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I just think that what's gonna happen here is there's
probably gonna be a blowout again and one of them
gets left out.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Really, I don't care. I don't I don't care. What's that?
So Maryland can make it a close game, but Ohio
State's not.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Oh No, I think Ohio State wins even though they are,
even though they're a four point dog.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
I would I will be betting them money line.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
That's gonna be tough. Yeah, that offense seem very good, correct,
and that Michigan defense is really good.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
I agree.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Yeah, it's still gonna do it. It doesn't matter though, with
these two teams. It doesn't matter. So especially a game
this's close where the spread's only four. You know they're
anticipating a Those two teams are equal because they're in Michigan, right, Yeah,
So those two teams are equal in their mind because
Michigan is getting three points for just being at home.

(03:09):
So if they're playing at a neutral side, it's a one
point game. So in in in the minds of the
humans through the computers, Like I said, humans and years, Yeah,
they're pretty equal teams. But the Michigan's home filled advantage,
but then Michigan also doesn't have their head coach. Michigan's
also and they didn't play very well against Maryland. So anyway,

(03:29):
that one happened. Kansas State, I bet them minus seven
and a half. They did not cover, but they won again.
I didn't even care that much that you missed the
parlay that. Yeah, I just like to see them win. Yeah, man,
And it was a good game because Kansas played well.
And I guess Kansas coach is not going to Michigan State.
I was told by some pretty good sources that he
was out, that he was going.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Leopold whatever his name is.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
Yeah, light Bold, Yeah, it's light Bold.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
I like Leopold.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
I like that too.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Makes me feel like it's that ice cream with all
three flavors.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Neopolitan. Yeah, it's me rends me of Leopold.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
I was thinking of like a general back in like
the seventeen hundreds, Napoleon, or like a lion leop.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
We're watching the show called My Best Friend the Spy
did that mention this already? That's probably not the name
of it, but it's got the guy Damon, who may
be Australian and he was in the show with Carrie
over in the Middle East Homeland, and then he was
in the show about billions of dollars.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Billion, Thank You.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
So now he's in this, but he plays a British
spy and this other guy's a British spy, a spy
among friends.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
He's the redhead from Homeland. Uh huh. Interesting And I
think he might be Australian. I'm not sure.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Yeah, he's something that's not American correct, but he's British
in this and it's I don't like.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
The colors of shows like this. What do you mean?

Speaker 3 (04:53):
I struggle with dark colors anyway. And it's very dark, greeny, dark, bluey,
kind of grainy, got it.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
I like that.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Whenever movies have a tent like, yeah, it's definitely tinted
because it is World War I don't know one or two, yeah, something,
but everybody hates Germany and Russia and these two spies
the whole purposes are they telling the truth or lying?
Because one of them gets in trouble immediately And it's
only six episodes. It's based on a book, and the

(05:19):
book was nonfiction and they do that thing where they're like,
this is based off a nonfiction book. Some of the
characters have been dramatized, meaning they're getting as close as
they possibly can.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
They just don't want to get sued. Correct, that's all that.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
If they just say that, and we're three in of
six total it is. I was watching it last night
with my wife and I'm like, man, the only reason
I like this show is because I'm an adult. If
I were a kid, I would have hated this show. Eddie,
you hate it. It's too much talking.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
I don't like dialogue. Yeah, no, I mean I do
like dialogue movies. This has got to be really good
of its dialogue. But if it's like a movie about
something big that's supposed to happen and all they do
is talk about it, hate it. Like there was a
movie back in the day called like thirteen Days. It
was like about the Cuban missile crisis, and it was
literally two hours the people in a meeting, and I'm like,
why would I want to watch a movie on this mike?

(06:04):
You see that one thirteen Days or whatever? Is that
Kevin Costner yet something like yeah, yeah, it's fantastic dialogue.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
That's the point of it.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
And mostly what we're referring to Is the movie about
the bomb? Yeah, Oppenheimer, and you hated it?

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Yeah? Man, I'm like, where's the ball? And all they're
doing is talking about the bomb? Like I want to
see the ball.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
It's the build up to the ball?

Speaker 5 (06:22):
Is it?

Speaker 1 (06:22):
The whole movie about if and when the bomb? Not
the bomb going off?

Speaker 6 (06:27):
Yes, and the moral ramifications of the ball and arguing
about the bomb like should we build it this way?

Speaker 1 (06:33):
No, we shouldn't build it that way. It's like, come on,
let's see the bomb.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
And when did Mike you like to Oppenheimer, I love theaters.
You went immediately? Yeah, And when does it come out
on my screen?

Speaker 1 (06:43):
It'll probably be out.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
I think next week.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Let's go.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
I can't wait. I can't wait to just dialogue, e dialogue.
I can't wait to hear what you have to say
about it. Because here's the deal too. I saw it
an Imax like they were making.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
A big deal like, oh, you got to watch on
the big screen for what to see a big face
talk like.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Oh that made it so much better seventy millimeters.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
I'm it's pretty funny, Eddie, Now, big face? Why do
I need to watch it on Imax? Because all they're
doing is talking correct, but it.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Made the bombs seem so much better.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
But there is a bump scene.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Yeah, wait for it.

Speaker 7 (07:13):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Okay, all that to say, that's that movie that shows
pretty good.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
We're three in us. What's it called too, shark boy.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
We were bouncing back and forth last night between that
and the Vikings in Denver, which, by the way, I
guess rus Wilson's pretty good again.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Yeah, what's going on over there? All of a sudden,
it's probably a good coach now Peyton Sean Payton. Yeah,
rus Wilson, I guess it's pretty good. I don't think
he's great again, but he doesn't have to. They I mean,
the the AFC is so stacked. It's gonna be tough
for them to make the playoffs. But they might make playoffs,
which is crazy to think.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Yeah, they needed this win. Oklahoma State was Eddi's bet.
He bet money line.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
We got it.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
It was a week bet, but you bet it, and
they would have covered too.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
They would have covered. You didn't pick the cover.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
They were down early. Were you scared?

Speaker 1 (08:02):
I suck?

Speaker 3 (08:04):
Kevin sucks. I was happy though that Michigan did win.
I love the drama. I was happy that Kansas State
did win. We love those guys. Cooper Bbs, you know
the guy that we did our episode with, Yeah, he's.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Much bigger on TV. I mean he was big in person,
don't get me wrong, but on TV on that line,
he is humongous.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
And he's like the guy like the offensive line. Yeah,
and that they highlight him and he keeps getting finalists
in all these big offensive Lineman awards and good dude,
you can watch him in our Kansas State episode of
Too Much Access, but they won't again, and good for them.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
I don't know how we got to the TV thing, Leopold.
He's not going to Michigan State, I guess.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Oh yeah, we went from Kansas Coach to Netflix shows.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Okay, before I hit the tittle tattle, does anybody have
anything to say?

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Huh, don't do something wrong? Yeah, he's setting us up.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
No, but you all look like you're itching to jump
in on that. At some point I just kept talking.
There's anything I skated over?

Speaker 6 (09:03):
Good?

Speaker 1 (09:03):
No, I mean we're going to go over games, right.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
Okay, let's get to the tit go.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
With Caleb Williams going to the NFL and USC joining
the Big ten next year, do you think it's possible
Lincoln Riley leaves USC.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
Bro Lincoln Riley has not been a very good coach
this year. What's he gonna do? Who's gonna hire him?
Has not been his his his resume leader. It's crazy
how bad USC has been.

Speaker 4 (09:34):
Yeah, you know, it's even worse than their defense. I
think is there offensive line?

Speaker 3 (09:38):
All of the big people have kind of sucked, Like
if you're supposed to be big, you mean like physically big. Yes,
the big size people, fat guy strong guys. But he's
always had trouble with fat guy strong guys. Even at
Oklahoma it was always fast guys, quarterbacks and so.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
So big fat guys are not his special.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Too big or fat or big fat correct and you
need the both. You need big guy and then you
also need big fat guys, but you also need the
little guys. You also need quick guys that are big.
But this has not been a good year for Lincoln Riley.
They play LSU and Michigan in two of their first
three games next year.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
It's a rough start.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
He's in year two and he signed a ten year,
one hundred and ten million dollar deal and they have
that five star kid, Malachai Nelson. I mean, he's gonna
be their starting quarterback next year. What if he leaves
bro I don't know what's going on over there, because
I tend to do this with Lincoln Riley. I'm gonna
give him the benefit of the doubt because this has

(10:35):
been a bad year. Absolutely, he's gonna have to make
a defensive coordinator change, which he did. He got rid
of his guy that he's been with him forever. But
he's a good coach and he's won everywhere, and so
this has been a bad year.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
So you give him a bad year.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
If it happens again next year, then you probably start
to wonder what's gonna happen with him. I don't know
if they're going to fire him. I don't know if
America can afford to pay Jimbo and Lincoln, even though
it's not the same coming from the same account. I
don't think our country has enough money to pay both
of those people off.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
We're pretty d I think the buyout was I saw
like eighty to ninety million.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
It's wide.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
If it happened, think about if it's let's just say
it's what Jimbo's was, which was say seventy on the
low end one hundred and forty million to just buy
coaches out, and then you got to pay other coaches, right, yeah,
think about the good things you could have done with
that money, and like the communities.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
Why do you pay yeh, that's a good point. But
why do you pay other coaches because they're all attached
like they.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
Broh, you got to pay it well, first of all, partially,
but I'm saying you gotta pay the other coach to
come and take the job.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Ah yeah, yeah, the new coach got you.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
So you got to pay the buy out. But then
let's say you're going to hire a Read as a
head coach. We got to pay Read five million a
year and that's very low. So Read would you take
the job?

Speaker 7 (11:38):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (11:38):
Yeah, I would. I would.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
Your offensive scheme probably be based.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
Around I'd probably say a play that got I heard
from a guy back in the day that has to
do with a ring around the rosie.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
And nice thank you Read. Okay, I'm gonna go work.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
I don't think he leaves for a job in anyway whatsoever.
I don't think he goes anywhere. I don't think anybody
wants them too much money up for it. Why would
he leave when he's making that much money. Also at
USC and you don't want to leave with a bad
taste in your mouth here. Yeah, he's got to try
to turn it into yeah, and he can't easily. I
do think he can easily.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
All Right?

Speaker 4 (12:14):
What else at a quiet ten and one does Louisville
does it have a shot at the college football playoff?

Speaker 3 (12:19):
They do if some other things fall into place. Meaning,
let's go SC championship. Let's go Georgia Alabama. Let's say Georgia.
When's that game? Okay, Alabama? Two losses out. Let's say
Michigan Ohio State. Let's just say one of them is
out because one of them whoops another one. So we'll
put the Big ten team in there, because there's also

(12:42):
a scenario where you have two SECAs and two Big Tens,
which would be hilarious, a hilarious playoff of those two conferences.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
So okay, so then you have two So then you
have a possible Texas. Let's say Texas loses in the
Big twelve championship.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
They lose, they could lose a couple of times. Who cares? Okay, So.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
Who else is up there? The Oregon in Washington. So
let's say State's done that a quarterback, you can't put
them in now. They're gonna have to win out be undefeated,
and they will get put in then. But if they
lose one game, they're out, because again, those humans are
gonna go.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
We can't put him in.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
That team in without their starting quarterback, and I think
they have to win big both games they play. I
think Florida, I don't think you can keep them out
undefeated even without their quarterback. I think an undefeated Florida
State team if they win two more games without their
quarterback and they're undefeated. Even though we probably all think
there's no way, I still think you have to give

(13:42):
the undefeated team in a Power five conference a spot
in the four.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
But let's say they lose, they're out. Okay, who do
we have left? Washington, Oregon. I think one of those
teams gets in. I think Oregon is now better than Washington,
but if they play a close game, they could actually
both get in. How do you feel about two teams
from the Pac twelve?

Speaker 4 (14:03):
But Oregon has to win because Oregon with two losses.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Oregon with a close win over Washington. But let's say
that doesn't happen. Let's say Washington wins, Oregon's out. That's
two losses. Okay, so so far the only teams we
have in are Georgia, the Big ten team. We'll just
say Michigan's is they're the favorite, and Washington.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Okay, who's left.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
It's not LSU. They got two losses. They don't even
make the s C Championship. Three losses. Excuse me, thank you.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
It's Louisville, I.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Think, which is my point. A lot of things have
to happen, but I think then it's Louisville because who
else would it be. I just don't think you can
put LSUN for any reason whatsoever. And I know they're
kind of in the oh do we let them in? No, No,
you don't. You're not gonna let a two lost team
in much less than three. So yes, I think they

(14:50):
deserve it if some things fall through. I don't think
they're one of the best four or five teams though. No,
but the Florida State things sucks for Florida State.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
Yeah, I feel bad for them and Jordan Travis.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
That sucks. They're listen to this though.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
They played Kentucky and then they're going to play Florida
State in the AEC title game.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
That's Louisville Louisville schedule.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
So one of those teams is kind of going to
eliminate each other anyway.

Speaker 4 (15:13):
Yeah, they won't.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
For sure play their way in both of them, but.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
For sure one of them would get eliminated regardless if
that game depends on it.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
How did their backup quarterback do? Because when did did
he go with the first half?

Speaker 4 (15:25):
Oh, they were down thirteen other one and then they
won fifteen to thirteen.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
I think they just were bigger, faster, stronger.

Speaker 4 (15:30):
Yeah, they played Southern Alabama or something.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
They played us.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
They played twenty five whistles, wrecked team our team.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
Yeah's North Alabama. It's pretty cool that Louisville was there.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
But you know, if you're ten and one and you're
in the a CEC, that's not the same thing as
ten and one in the Big Ten, the Big twelve,
the SEC, the Pac twelve.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
They just need some things to happen.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
But if this is like Clemson in the ACC, they
would be.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
Because they have earned over the last few years the
humans to go. I believe in that coach, he's done
it before. I believe in the program but Louisville hasn't.
It's unfair, I hear you. But the humans in the computers.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Right, humans first, then computers, Yes, because we made the computers.

Speaker 4 (16:12):
Correct, All right, go ahead, Going to the NFL where
their teams having completely different seasons. Do you think the
Panthers are regretting not taking C. J. Stroud in the draft.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
If they fire Frank Raig after one year with no weapon,
it is a disaster. I know that owner really likes
to be medley with that team. I would too, pause
the owner. I'd be the secret second coach, but like
I own the team. You guys do whatever you think
is best. Yeah, right, I got an earbud. Hey, it'd
be really I'm with my friends. They would love to
see a fleet flicker. I'd be doing that craft like crazy, uh.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
So secretly, secretly, yeah, but I'd be like, guys, watched this.
You guys want to see a center sneak?

Speaker 3 (16:50):
Watch this, sase that'd be a great party. Yes, the
coach watched what do you center sneak?

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Please?

Speaker 3 (16:55):
So I still I watched Bryce Young and I know
he threw a bad pick yesterday. The Cowboys through that
pick six. The guy's got four by the way.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
Four Yeah, I think he's four pick six four pick
six's seven interceptions in the year. Like wild Kill.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
That band said, I think Bryce Young is a good quarterback.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
I really do. He plays.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
His interceptions are so calm and composed. He does look
calm and composed even afterwards. He's thrown nine touchdowns eight interceptions.
The Panthers are one to nine, but I'm maybe they
Maybe they are, but I don't think it's because of
Bryce Young. If they are wanting c J. Stroud, it's
simply because of c J. Stroud, which I don't think
is a shot against Bryce Young. I still think Bryce
Young is going to be a really good quarterback if

(17:37):
he can just have any sort of help. I have
no reason to like him. He played for Alabama. I
don't care about that. He's crap out of but he
was nice to us though he was it was very nice.
I forgot about that part.

Speaker 6 (17:49):
Kid.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
Yeah, but I still I've watched almost every Panther game,
and remember, let me mention a couple of other quarterbacks
who had very similar, even worse rookie years. Maybe Trevor Lawrence,
maybe Peyton Manning terrible played for bad teams with no help.

(18:10):
Terrible rookie season because they let him play the whole season.
That's that's part of the glory. You just can't compare
him to see J. Stroud, who's just out of his mind,
although he did he went very rookie yesterday.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
Second half.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
Yeah he had the yardage, but yeah things, Yeah, he
tried to lose the game. That one touchdown on the
long one to take the like thirty is awesome?

Speaker 1 (18:28):
Dirty? Hey, And do teams like after it's said and done,
like with a draft and everything, do they ever like
mid season go like, man, we should have gotten ce
J Stroud? Like probably you think each other really quietly.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
I bet there's like a guy a scout that's like, man,
I tried to tell them the.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Draft what word on the street is, because you guys
know where I'm from those streets.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
That's right, That's right. The owner was.

Speaker 3 (18:49):
Really who was pushing hard for Stroud because Frank Wright
his thing has always been big pocket, strong arm quarterbacks.
That's not really what Bryce Young is. But I still
think Bryceshung's a good quarterback. I think he will be
a good quarterback. I was watching Kyler Murray yesterday. Is

(19:09):
he the smallest player ever to play in the NFL.
But how does he look smaller than ever?

Speaker 1 (19:13):
He looks tiny. He gets lost, it's like a child.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
I never used to think that, but it's like a
child running around out there. It's like I started to
feel bad for him, likee but Panthers, Panthers, I thought,
played the cowboy out of your Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
Almost played that game too close? Yeah they did, they
sure did. And then defense turned into good defense.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
And at the end of the game, the score does
not reflect really how closs the game was throughout the game,
and then c J. Stroud tried to lose that game.
But also it's a rookie. A rookie supposed to do
that sometimes. But also what it tells me about the
Texans is they can win games they're not playing awesome.
I know, they don't have to play out of their
mind to win a game. And that's how that's what
the good teams do amazing. They win games that they
kind of sucked in, so kind of cool to see.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
It's kind of cool to the Texans win.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
Yeah, it's fun.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
And they got a rookie coach. Yeah, they got a
rookie quarterback.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
And then even Will Anderson is having a good year,
which is kind of quietly. It's fun.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
You got to like a team with no weapons, no
big name weapons, doing really doing pretty good.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
Yeah, or weapons you didn't think were weapons until they
said here I am, we're weapons. You canys see Miles
Garrett without a shirt on. Oh my god, I mean.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Hey, what does it look like? Describe it?

Speaker 3 (20:24):
So he Hey, by the way, playing the Steeler yesterday,
the Steelers almost won that game.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
They came back to one. Uh, Cleveland wins.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
But however, if it's one point where the Steelers helmet,
the quarterbacks helmet went on, Miles Garrett picked it up.
Now remember he wance grabbed the Steelers helmet.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
Yeah, that's right, hit the quarterback. Yes, it was so funny.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
Watched the Steelers players, Yeah, watched them grab that helmet
back from him.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
That was not this time.

Speaker 3 (20:49):
The Cleveland defense is awesome. Yeah, Miles Garrett was in
gray sweatpants and no shirt. He had muscles I didn't
even know existed, and then his humongous dong in weatpants.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
Really you can see it.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
Yeah, And the only reason I even thought about it,
I was wearing sweatpants at my show in Louisville, and
I told Eddie, oh, I can't. I need to go
change my pants before we do meet and greet because
it looked like a tiny turtlehead look like yeah yeah,
Miles Garretts looked like he had an anaconda. Sure, And
I put over our picture because I posted a picture
of Eddie and I in Louisville eating ice cream or

(21:22):
whatever it was, and you could see like a tiny pinky.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
Poke coming out of mine. Did you censor it? I did, well.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
I just put the Louisville tag or where we are
over the top. But I think that's why I noticed
the Miles. I mean, the greatest maybe the greatest body
I've ever seen on a dude. Wow, it is wild.
I have to look that up.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
As you said, great sweatpants, I was like, is he going?

Speaker 3 (21:45):
I don't know if he knew what he was doing,
but if I look like that, I would wear suits
made of sweatpants. I would show up to prom in
a sweatpants tuxedo and like, look at this dingling.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
Okay, what else you got?

Speaker 4 (22:00):
After another one possession loss on Sunday is Brandon Staley
of the Chargers the next coach he get fired.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
You know, they should just take him and ebra Flus
And they're like, all right, guys, picking number one through ten.
Uh huh okay, okay, good, you're both fired. It doesn't
matter the number they.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
Picked, any number the Bears, yeah, huh.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
So I'll start with the Chargers first. And you could
tell Staley was getting upset when theysked him. He was
still going to call defensive plays. I don't know how
he makes it through the rest of the season, much
less into next year. They're just losing too much, and
he's probably a big reason that Herbert. I don't believe
justin Herbert. Even though he throws like crazy, he doesn't
win games. Herbert's one game under five hundred, his total

(22:38):
career record himself.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
He did throw a pass.

Speaker 3 (22:41):
He did throw a couple passes that were just straight dropped,
but he also threw a pick. I'm not a Herbert
believer anymore ever never, I only even believe because people
told me to believe. Yeah, and I still see what
they see because he looks awesome, but he doesn't win.
They don't win. I think Staley gets fired. I think
Everflus now gets fired. The crazy thing about the Bears

(23:01):
was justin feels look good. They should have won that game.
Oh yeah, they had Detroit on the ropes. Yeah, Detroit
scored twice in the last They had him like two minutes,
like goff ran down and scored in like a minute
and then I was so annoying because that had a
black million. But I think that Ron Rivera's probably gone
in Washington, but they'll let him finish because I think

(23:24):
they brought him in for stability reasons. I don't think
you bring in Riverboat Ron and just go all right,
we need you to. You're a sixty year old man.
Really give us a fresh coat of paint. Yeah, they
brought him in because that program, it feels like a program.
I mean Dan Snyder when he owned it, and they
brought him in just to be some kind of guiding

(23:46):
little or you put on the back of the boat
to do all the changes. Yes, yeah, so Frank Wright.
They shouldn't fire Frank Wright. They shouldn't. Hope they don't.
If they do, it's a meddaling owner. I'm telling you
another team's gonna grab Hi imediately. Ebra Flus out, Staley
out and we did a bit. If you remember, like
four months ago, We're like, what's gonna happen Taylor Swift

(24:06):
and Kelsea break up? Or and I was like, Josh
McDaniels will get fired first. And Josh McDaniels did get fired.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
And Taylor still together with Travis correct Ada, So you
win that. See what happens afterwards? Hey, what about the
Bills though, Like they fire their offensive coordinator and then
come out looking like their Super Bowl teams?

Speaker 3 (24:25):
You know, And I don't even think because their offensive
coordinator was Dorsey. Yeah, Ken Dorsey, the quarterback, Miami quarterback
right now, I don't even think were he was doing
a fine job that you just have to fire somebody.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
He was. Man, it looks bad when they fire you,
and then your team just looks amazing. I get it.
And Zach Wilson, I.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
Always think, and I in the NFL, if a guy's
good enough to make it to the NFL, if you
can get him enough reps, he'll eventually be at least serviceable.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
Not Zach Wilson.

Speaker 4 (24:55):
That old line is just as bad.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
I'm telling you he I had faith and Zach Wilson
to has become okay.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
But he's not okay.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
No, he's terrible and he's also cocky, which doesn't help,
which he doesn't help. Yeah, that's the Tittle Tattle stupid
his name ever.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
The Tittle Tattle.

Speaker 3 (25:20):
Twenty five whistles as presented by Draft Kings Sports Book,
an official sports betting partner of the NFL. As we
always say, download the Draft Kings app, use the code
Bobby sports one word get in on the action. All right, Well,
let's look back at our parlay from the weekend that
we lost.

Speaker 1 (25:35):
Again.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
I'm not sure we've hit one since like week two
of the show. I had Kansas State minus seven and
a half. They ended up winning the game but losing
because they didn't cover the spread. But it was a
big win for them versus Kansas, So good win, bad
loss by me. The Michigan game was a lot closer
than we thought. Michigan wents thirty one twenty four over Maryland,
and again they won the game, but they didn't cover

(25:59):
and they all I mean that game was probably a
little closer than I think all of us imagined. Anyway,
I don't want Michigan to lose. I'll be honest with you.
I do not want Michigan to lose. I'm not a
Michigan fan. I just love that they keep winning because
if they lose, the scandal or whatever it is will
not be a scandal anymore. And then Eddie Well, with
the easiest bet of the week, did pick the Oklahoma
State money line, but he could have also taken the
spread as Oklahoma State won forty three to thirty. Good

(26:21):
win by the old pokes over there, but not a
good win for us. We let you down again. We
let you down again. If you will, I don't know
why you would. But if you want to take the
twenty five whistles parlay, you can check out Draftking Sports Book.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
Nine all right? Weekend review NFL games.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
If you have something to say, hold your finger up
and I'll come to you. Steelers and Browns. It was
a very ugly game. I thought the Steelers were gonna
do it again. I'd even made a note on my
phone as the Steelers were about to win. But I
felt like, because I'll watch these games and take notes
that Pittsburgh is like your average looking buddy who keeps
getting hot girls. There's gotta be something divine about him
that you just can't place, something deep inside. Yeah, they

(27:19):
keep winning and being close without really being much. They
play ugly and they try to win at the end,
and they almost did it yesterday too. And you know what,
the Browns are good. They're good because their defense is
so good that that's not a bad loss for the Steelers.
It sucks that they lost, but it's that's not like
an ugly loss. That's not like when Jacksonville lost one

(27:41):
hundred and nothing in San Francisco a few weeks ago. Yeah,
like that was an ugly loss for a good team.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
So that Cleveland defense is.

Speaker 4 (27:48):
So good, I get that, But that offense is really bad.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
I agree?

Speaker 4 (27:51):
Can you picket?

Speaker 1 (27:52):
I agree?

Speaker 3 (27:52):
Anywhere's two gloves. It's hilarious. He's like that golfer you
show up at the course.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
Hilarious.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Lions thirty one, Bears twenty six. The Bear's blood double
digitally in the fourth quarter it's very classic Bears. Like
Justin Field's first game back looked pretty good. DJ Moore,
Like they.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
Scored twenty six points. What do you want?

Speaker 7 (28:12):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (28:13):
Don de Foreman got hurt When I was watching Man,
he runs downhill, big strong.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
But he got hurt.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
But the Bears. That sucks for the Bears. The Bears
just they lost, but they won. I guess they keep
their draft pick ish, but the pick they really want
is the one well that keeps getting as good with
the Panthers. So Chargers and Packers. Hey, Jordan Love not
my favorite aesthetically.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
But played pretty good.

Speaker 6 (28:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
And they're so young that you talk about weapons and
when Watson your second year receivers, like your that's your star.
Well if he's like your veteran, yeah, I mean Dobbs
is also I think a second year player that's a
very young and Backe Terrier that you know they're line
that he's been out.

Speaker 4 (28:59):
For three years.

Speaker 3 (29:00):
Yeah, basically, so the Packer that's a good good win
for the Packers, Yeah, and a terrible loss for the Chargers.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
They're living the years of when the Cowboys had Quincy Carter.
You know, like it's just a tough time I don't be.
I don't think so. The Packers are just on top man.
The Packers are always a top five team every season,
and all of a sudden your quarterback leaves you for
the Jets, and like, what do you got? You got nothing?

Speaker 3 (29:23):
Well, you have a guy that you've developed in your
system for the past two three years.

Speaker 1 (29:26):
Yeah, and he's all right, he's okay. You've been spent again,
big investment, not a lot of payoff. Yet he could
it could happen in a couple of years. What's the
Packers record.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
They're only paying a five million bucks a year two
even next Oh that's nice. So he's still in a
deal where he's not getting paid a lot so they
can put more weapons around him.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
Yeah, it's a good deal, Ie six.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
So I agree it's not been great, but I do
see improvement with with with Love. Yeah, it's like like
Goff has played well.

Speaker 4 (29:52):
He had a bad game yesterday, but then he came back.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
Sure, he made up for it all the matters, those
last two drives.

Speaker 4 (29:56):
Yeah, I hear you.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
You win the game, NFL, you won the game. That's it.
But with Love, like Golf was bad, he was he
La got rid of him. He wasn't good in Detroit.
Got the right little situation there, right, coach, Right, like
Golf's top twelve quarterback. Probably it's hard to say that

(30:17):
because it's Jared.

Speaker 4 (30:18):
Kaff but with all these backups and for sure this year.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
Yeah, oh yeah, for sure.

Speaker 6 (30:22):
Right.

Speaker 3 (30:23):
Raiders thirteen Dolphins twenty. The Raiders hung in there. Jalen
Ramsey's interception at the end, I thought he died, yeah
when he made that pick, and I was like, well,
I guess he's out the rest of the season. He
landed on the ball, so I changed it after that,
so I think maybe the wind was just knocked out
of him.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
Yeah, was there any engine?

Speaker 4 (30:38):
No, he was sorry. He got up and hyped out
of the crowd and everything.

Speaker 3 (30:40):
He so the Raiders chunked. They're running like a post
route and he had he threw. He beat the defensive
back that he was a Ramsey comes from the other
side in the air.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Oh, makes a.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
Awesome like highlight video interception and then just stays down
and you're like, oh no, But good win for the Dolphins.
They don't have a lot of great wins, but I
still say this is a good win for the Dolphins.
Are they for real, yes or no, No, I still
say probably.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
Nine Wow haters, I think they're for real.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
Giants Commanders. What a stupid game because I bet my
oh no, and I kept thinking they were going to
come back and do it because all game they were fine.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
But Saque big day.

Speaker 3 (31:25):
Yeah it's on my fantasy team. They Sam Hallet just
didn't play well.

Speaker 4 (31:31):
Yeah, they were coming back and then Anything threw a
pick six at the very end.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
Yeah as bad dude, Yeah, that's you can't get beat
by that Giants team.

Speaker 4 (31:38):
Did you see the water heater was out for the stadium,
so the nobower.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
Yeah yeah, Cowboys thirty three ten over the Panthers. Blaine
got another pick six blow out win four pick sixes.
This score, though, like I mentioned earlier, is not as
close as the game was.

Speaker 6 (31:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
Yeah, yeah, that was definitely a game that I thought
was going to be a repeat of Cowboys Giants. It
isn't you watch the whole thing. I did watch the
whole thing. Man thoughts on this, which which is hard
because you know, like again, when the Cowboys are playing
at noon, there are so many noon games I want
to watch, but if the Cowboys are on, I'm not
switching over to watch it. But my thoughts is, you
know what, a win's a win. It wasn't beautiful Dak again.

(32:15):
I don't like, why are commentators now calling Dak? You know,
one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

Speaker 3 (32:24):
I think with the Cowboys, you got two ways to
do it. Yeah, they're amazing or they're awful.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
But literally two weeks ago, it's like, oh do we
I mean, do we want to keep Dak?

Speaker 7 (32:33):
Like?

Speaker 1 (32:33):
What's going on with Dak? Press guy? Here to two
games later, Man, you're looking at the quarterback of the league.
I do feel like he's getting a lot of love.

Speaker 4 (32:40):
Yeah, And I think, Eddie, you're just not used to it.
Maybe that's it's the first time hearing it and you're like,
what I've been saying this the whole time.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
I don't know. I mean wins, dude, A wins of win.
I love the defense look great again. I mean sure,
there'sn't a strong offensive line there in Carolina, so we
took advantage of that.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
Never apologized for winning, but man, I loved it.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
I loved it.

Speaker 3 (32:59):
Jaguars up the Titans. Trevor Lawrence is awesome. Calvin Ridley
had a big day thirty four to fourteen. I guess
there's really nothing to say about this game other than
I didn't watch a whole lot of it because it
was never much of a game. The confusing part were
the helmet colors, because I, again am severely colorblind and
dark colored. And I think the Jags had black helmets, yeah,
they have black home and I think the Titans had
blue helmets, sure, dark blue. And I couldn't tell the

(33:20):
difference in helmets, which shouldn't be a big deal because
you could look at the jerseys, but still all the
heads are running around. That was part of the reason
that I didn't watch a whole lot of that game.
Texas beat the Cardinals.

Speaker 1 (33:31):
C J.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
Stroud had over three indy yards first half was great,
had three interceptions, But again, they won even when they
didn't play their best, and that's a team you got
to look out for.

Speaker 1 (33:40):
That's crazy. It's crazy that Texans are winning. It's awesome.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
Forty nine ers with the Bucks pretty had perfect passer rating,
and I don't know how a passerating of like one
fifty two or one fifty eight point nine is perfect.
Somebody needs to teach me the passer rating on look
at me because I can tell you how batting average works.
I can tell you about how I would say ninety
five percent of the ratings.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
This is his work. I have no idea.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
But when they're like parties, the first quarterback with twenty
minimal attempts to have perfect passer rating, like why it
was one hundred percent, Yeah that it was like twenty
one for twenty foting what.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
Yeah, it's almost like if it's close enough, that's a
perfect path.

Speaker 4 (34:16):
They round up.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
He did play great. Auk is awesome debo.

Speaker 3 (34:22):
I mean they're back, their weapons are there. But the
Bucks played pretty well. Bill's Wolf the Jets Josh Allen
three touchdowns. The Jets offense terrible. They switch quarterbacks. That's
that's it's a mess. I mean, there's no way Aaron
Rodgers comes back. If they're out out out, can you
get pull up the East? The AFC East, I just
want to hear. I'll go through one more game here
and then it's talking about the a FFC East Rams

(34:44):
over the Seahawks seventeen sixteen.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
That stupid game.

Speaker 3 (34:49):
Miss the game when he feeled GoF for the Seahawks
and they Rams come back. Stafford is like the greatest
old guy. Ever, and not only that, Cooper Cup got
hurt and they still it's I don't like it. I
don't like it. I need to Seahawks do to win,
all right, Okay, give me that.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
So we got the Dolphins in first place seven and three,
Bills six and five, Jets four and six.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
So the Jets are still hypothetically in it because if
there are still seven games left, they're four and six.
Let's say they go five and two, so that's nine
and eight.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
They could you need the Bills to crap out like
they haven't crapping all year. I know, any faith that
they can win, I don't know. Man, last week, this
yesterday kind of looked good.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
Yes, yesterday it gave it, gave a lot of Bills,
but also they were playing nobody correct.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
I think the Jets defense is like they're over it.
Yeah they play well, but they're just like, we can
only do so much.

Speaker 1 (35:45):
But again they are a solid defense.

Speaker 3 (35:48):
Yeah, I agree, but it's like if you're getting no
help at all, and I know you want to still
be great because if they go go another team, you
need tape. It's all you got to do. Individual stuff too. Yeah,
I could just see being a Jets, if it's a player,
been like, doesn't matter what we do, we're still gonna
freaking lose exactly. That's okay, that's your NFL. Look, Hey,

Let's look at college football real quick. Actually talked about
Michigan whooped up on Maryland, except they didn't whoop on them.
They didn't beat them, but they just I don't know, man, Michigan,
they were just turning the ball over.

Speaker 1 (37:47):
It's called sloppy.

Speaker 3 (37:48):
I felt like they could have won that game big,
but I felt and it also, you know, their thousandth
win was like the big story. But you see somebody
went and dug up their one thousand wins and one
of them was against the high school.

Speaker 4 (37:57):
Oh no, of course.

Speaker 3 (37:58):
Where was like that back in like I don't know, team, yes,
something like that. They were like, this is not accurate.
One win against a high school back in the day
at fan all right, hey, why don't we go play
that high school? Bamba whooped up on Chattanhoo. Again, wasn't close.
Louisville beat Miami. Good, good little game there. It was
down to the end. I mean they were back. It
was a good game back, Yeah, it really was. I

(38:20):
was happy to see Louisville win. Though Florida State whoops
Northern Alabama. But that's I mean Jordan Travis is he
went out in the first quarter. But his injuries is
gonna set their whole team back. They're not gonna be
able to lose one game and still make it.

Speaker 6 (38:31):
Now.

Speaker 3 (38:32):
That sucks for them, Yeah, because he's legit. Oh yeah,
Georgia Tennessee was never even a game.

Speaker 1 (38:39):
First play man got to stop.

Speaker 3 (38:40):
Ten Oh yeah, that was the first play.

Speaker 4 (38:44):
Yeah, and then it was like George was like, oh, yeah,
we're done here, let's let's finish it.

Speaker 1 (38:47):
And it was. It was never really a game after that.

Speaker 3 (38:50):
Sadly, Ohio State WOO Minnesota DA DA DA, Oregon whooped
Arizona State DA DA DA. The Washington Oregon State game
was pretty good game. I thought was she would win.
I thought they'd win a little more. Ore Gon say
it was the favorite. But Washington did win, but they
didn't score it all second half.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
That weather was definitely a factor. I thought it was
the time zone that affected him. They're all over. There
were two hours earlier, barely game, but like a lot
of rain. I mean it would just come really hard
and then it would like just chill for a little bit.
And every time that rain hit they couldn't is it
rain or snow? What was it?

Speaker 5 (39:22):
It was raining?

Speaker 4 (39:22):
But I just heard what you said.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
That was all.

Speaker 4 (39:25):
And you said the rain would come really.

Speaker 1 (39:27):
Oh that's huge. Come on, I'm trying to talk football.

Speaker 7 (39:33):
Heard it too.

Speaker 3 (39:34):
Texas and I Aoway State game was closer than I
probably thought it would. It was a They end up
winning by ten, but there was a touchdown two point
conversion that for the way at the end. Uh Missouri
and Florida, close game. I don't think people expected that
one to be as close as it was. Missouri hits
a game winning field goal, and good for them. I
made Missouri's they have they have a want too long?

(39:55):
I mean lost Missouri have they lost one? So so
a one loss Missouri team. Okay, who they lose second
game to? They did beat Kansas State on a field
goal earlier in the year too.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
We lost to Georgia. They've lost to LSU. Yeah they're
done LSU and Georgia.

Speaker 3 (40:17):
So for like a number ten Louisville team, however, you
almost have to win your conference if you're Louisville in
the ACC. Missouri is not even gonna make it. They
have two losses in the East. Yeah, that sucks for them.
Kansas State wins thirty one to twenty seven over Kansas
Good deal, that's a good game. That's happy to see.
Kansas State's like my second favorite, third favorite team.

Speaker 1 (40:37):
Yeah, oh me too, Dude. When I see a license
play car with a KNA State lis plate, I'm like, ye, man,
for sure, go Cats.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
So we're gonna do a couple of interviews here. We
went to BYU, and I will say, hey, they're the
nicest fans. They're the nicest people and nicest fans. Everything
about BYU. I just want to hug all of it.
You think about going back to college to b YU,
Me too. I'm thinking about being a Mormon just for
b YU.

Speaker 1 (41:06):
All right, let's do it. I'll do it with you.
So I want to.

Speaker 3 (41:08):
We got a couple of these, including the head coach
coming up in a second, we're gonna chat with and
we thought it'd be fun to go talk to the
long snapper because he's the long snapper and then the
other guy's the punter in the holder sure, which is
always weird to me that you have to do two
important jobs. You gotta punt, you gotta hold for the
field goal kickers, so you can't just you can't go

(41:28):
and do punt practice while the kicker wants to do
kick practice.

Speaker 1 (41:31):
Yeah, because you gotta go hold and the punters is
built like a tight end.

Speaker 3 (41:35):
The player was like a defensive end I believe in
and was recruited as a defensive end.

Speaker 4 (41:40):
In the long snapper, was it.

Speaker 7 (41:42):
Ye.

Speaker 3 (41:42):
They're both big dudes, yeah, and they're both like like
chiseled and nice. Man, they're a miles gear but still
so Austin Riggs and the punter Ryan Rico. Austin is
fluent in four languages, that's wild. He served a mission
in Zimbabwe before playing at by U. Ryan was a
numb one ready kicker coming out of high school in Washington.

(42:03):
Follow them on Instagram at Austin r Riggs and Ryan
at our underscore recou twenty four. I don't know, just
find him.

Speaker 1 (42:12):
On our page. Google it all. Right, here we go,
here's that interview. Okay, let me introduce you to our
new friends. Say your name and.

Speaker 8 (42:18):
Your position, Ryan reco putter, Austiner Riggs long snapper and
so Ryan are you putt?

Speaker 1 (42:24):
Do you hold too?

Speaker 6 (42:25):
I do? Yeah, I'm the field goal holder as well.

Speaker 3 (42:28):
Well, that's a weird pressure to that because you don't
get any credit for anything, but dang if you mess
it up.

Speaker 2 (42:33):
Yeah, Like everybody's like, that's on the holder.

Speaker 6 (42:35):
I know it's it's a it's a thankless job. But
that's that's specialists in general. That's comes with the territory.

Speaker 3 (42:40):
How did you Let's talk about the holding first, Like,
how did that come about?

Speaker 2 (42:46):
Do you audition? Do you practice? What happens?

Speaker 6 (42:49):
Man? Usually like you look in the pros, usually it's
the punter that holds for the kicker, just because they're
spending all the time together. There's like nothing else better
to do for a couple hours a day. So yeah,
when I got here as a freshman, they said, all right,
you guys are with each other enough, get good at it,
and that's gonna be how we roll.

Speaker 2 (43:06):
And so you two are always together.

Speaker 3 (43:07):
Yeah, but what about if you want to punt and
it looks like he needs you to catch the pold Like,
what if you're like, no, man, I need a punt,
He's like, no, you need to catch it.

Speaker 2 (43:16):
Freaking set. Yeah, Like is that is that not never
an issue?

Speaker 6 (43:20):
There's some friendly disagreements. Yeah, yeah, but I mean you
roll with it like it's give and take for sure.

Speaker 2 (43:24):
So what's a practice day like for you?

Speaker 1 (43:27):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (43:27):
Man, Like a Tuesday, a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Speaker 6 (43:30):
Tuesday. We usually get out probably about thirty forty minutes
ahead of practice, just getting warmed up because that's usually
when the field is open and snappers are getting loose.
We're catching snaffs, punting, getting the field goal kickers ready
and stuff. Holding for them, and then usually special teams
is kind of right at the beginning of practice, so
we're rolling with the team, we're getting our field goals

(43:52):
in with everybody, kind of like the live operation we
call it. And then the rest of practice is just
be as productive as you can possibly be. So whether
it's stretching, whether it's just getting more reps in with
the guys, going and talking, making new friends and stuff
on the team, it's it's really just use your time
the best you can.

Speaker 3 (44:10):
Are you when you're a practice, are you like trying
to stay out of the way of like the defensive
lineman or I Like, I just we went to another
school and they were they were weird about their specialists.

Speaker 2 (44:23):
They had them in different rooms, and I was like,
that is not right because you two are also big.
Like you two are like large.

Speaker 3 (44:29):
I wouldn't want to mess with you guys because the
other specials were like this tall.

Speaker 6 (44:34):
No.

Speaker 2 (44:35):
No, like you automatically get all respect because you're just
big dudes.

Speaker 1 (44:39):
Like what is that?

Speaker 2 (44:40):
What's that dynamic? Like I alady say, well, do you
do you know?

Speaker 6 (44:44):
Picked on?

Speaker 3 (44:45):
Do you?

Speaker 7 (44:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (44:46):
So I think the weight rooms our biggest way to
show like where we're at. So I mean we try
to lift, we lift with the tight ends, defensive end
linebackers kind of that area, bigger dudes that can throw
a lot of weight but are still athletic and fast.

Speaker 7 (45:02):
And so that's kind of where we're at.

Speaker 8 (45:04):
And like you said, it's like we're big dudes, which
help us a lot because I mean on a field
goal or on a punt too, if Rian wants to
take a fake or they're putting pressure on me, we
can stand our ground and we're not just gonna get
blown up. And so the team definitely appreciates that Ryan
helps us out. I think the biggest with the respect
with the specialist is how big he punts that ball

(45:27):
and just how high it is. So I mean, everybody
respects a guy a lot more if he's the best
at it.

Speaker 2 (45:33):
That's true.

Speaker 7 (45:33):
So that's what we're kind of.

Speaker 3 (45:35):
We get no respect, So that's only cool that you guys.
So what about you can when people line up obviously
they can't. It seems like they can't line up.

Speaker 2 (45:45):
Right over you anymore.

Speaker 3 (45:47):
Now have you been in both situations where before they
change the rules, did you ever have anyone line up
over you and go right in.

Speaker 8 (45:54):
Yeah, I mean it's definitely against the rules and you occasionally,
especially in high school, you'll probably get popped in every
once in a while. It's more dangerous not a punt
because when we go through the demonstration, I go completely
through my legs and so my whole back and spine
is exposed. So like all get bumped occasionally in a practice,
and I'll get frustrated because it does hurt a lot.

(46:16):
But the catches, they might not be able to line
up on you, but if you don't pop your head up,
they're gonna run right past you, especially on.

Speaker 7 (46:23):
A punt, and then they'll go they have a free
release to go hit Ryan.

Speaker 8 (46:27):
So it's kind of like how fast can I snap
the ball and pop my head up to block?

Speaker 2 (46:31):
And then when you pop your head up though, then
your fair game.

Speaker 7 (46:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (46:34):
Uh, like they just wait exactly.

Speaker 2 (46:43):
When you're down. Are they ever talking crap to you?

Speaker 7 (46:46):
Not a lot. I mean I try just to be
easy going.

Speaker 8 (46:51):
I focus on my snap and then if they made
a funny comment prior to my snap, I might tell
them that was funny and then jog off after I
snapped it.

Speaker 2 (46:58):
But they talk a lot, like did they talk like.

Speaker 6 (47:01):
Yeah, you.

Speaker 7 (47:03):
On a field goal?

Speaker 8 (47:04):
They'll talk on a field goal because I'm not moving
after I snap it.

Speaker 7 (47:08):
I'm just sitting there blocking.

Speaker 8 (47:09):
And then they also want me to have a bad
snap so the kicker misses it and whatnot. But I mean,
they're not that creative, to be honest, So it's not like.

Speaker 7 (47:19):
They're like saying some funny spec Yeah, yeah they did
for this.

Speaker 8 (47:24):
No, they didn't find my girlfriend. They didn't find that
stuff out before the game.

Speaker 3 (47:29):
So I would have to imagine that you guys played
other positions. I mean, you're both extremely athletic guys. What
were you playing in high school?

Speaker 8 (47:36):
So I was a defensive end and then I also
played left tackle, so we just never came off.

Speaker 2 (47:42):
How did you start snapping?

Speaker 6 (47:44):
Then?

Speaker 2 (47:44):
It was because they just seen it a snaper and
you happen to be good at it.

Speaker 7 (47:46):
Yeah, I was pretty good at it.

Speaker 8 (47:48):
And my dad kind of sat me down and was like,
you're not going to look like Tyler Battie who is
six six, two eighty five and shredded.

Speaker 7 (47:56):
Like, I'm not going to get to that. But I
don't want to either.

Speaker 8 (47:59):
It's like I want to stay with what I have.
And so my dad's like, why don't you just be
a long snapper? And be the best at it in college.
I was like, and go on to the pros too.
I was like, that's a good idea. So we talked
about it a little earlier with you guys. There was
a guy named John Denny and so he played for
the Miami Dolphins. He's an alumni from BYU, played there
for like fourteen seasons. Just massive dude, kind of the

(48:22):
heemoth of a man, and he just found out what
he was good at was athletic, big.

Speaker 7 (48:28):
Enough, and the NFL loved him. Sodden like, why not
just do that?

Speaker 2 (48:31):
Did you long snap in high school?

Speaker 6 (48:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (48:33):
Okay, so did it help you get to a college?

Speaker 6 (48:38):
Like?

Speaker 2 (48:38):
Were they like, do they look for long snappers?

Speaker 7 (48:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (48:41):
So they have a We all have different kickers have
different camps.

Speaker 7 (48:45):
Snappers have different camps.

Speaker 8 (48:46):
Like I went to it's called the Top twelve camp
with ruby a long snapping and it's kind of like
the Elite eleven but for long snappers.

Speaker 7 (48:55):
So you go there. Ryan and I both went to it.

Speaker 8 (48:58):
And so you go there, you're the top snapper punder
kicker in the nation. And then the colleges will reach
out to those coaches and say I want these specs
on a kicker, punter, snapper, And so we had a
specialist coach here and he's like, I want a big, tall,
fast guy.

Speaker 7 (49:16):
Who do you have. They're like, Austin rapes perfect is.

Speaker 3 (49:19):
The fast advantage just because on a punt you can
also run down and try to make a tackle.

Speaker 7 (49:23):
Correct.

Speaker 2 (49:24):
Yeah, that's what I do.

Speaker 8 (49:25):
You want to have as many guys running down.

Speaker 2 (49:28):
I thought you were going to keep your head down.

Speaker 3 (49:29):
That's a field golf hunt, snap and kill. That's a
snap and kill man. And is there ever a situation
where you guys blame each other? I don't think so
bad snap no bath hole man, because we do that. Yeah, yeah,
nothing the same, but we blame you all the time
for everything.

Speaker 7 (49:44):
We're pretty we know what we're doing.

Speaker 6 (49:46):
We might talk to each other, but we're never gonna
like go in from the team and be like, hey, guys,
that wasn't my fault, Like that was Austin, like blame him,
not us or the kicker or anything. And I think
that's one of the main things that you look for
and a specialist is you don't want the guy that's
gonna like shirk that responsibility. So yeah, it definitely comes
with the territory. Like we're spending all practice doing this,
we should be pretty good. And if there's a there's

(50:08):
a mistake, then own up to it. Even if it
might not totally be your fault, you still take part
in that for sure.

Speaker 3 (50:14):
If your kicker misses a pretty easy kick, like a
twenty two yard chip shot, do you still go, hey, man,
good job, We get him, buddy, or do you just
walk off we.

Speaker 7 (50:22):
Give him a good buddy.

Speaker 6 (50:23):
Yeah, That's that's the thing with like kickers, punters, whatever
it is, it's so much more mental than it is physical,
just because you might have like four or five plays
in a game, so like you might have four or
five snaps in a game, and like other positions, it's like,
oh yeah, next play mentality like I'm gonna line up
right after this one. For us, it could be twenty

(50:44):
thirty minutes, could be a couple of hours before we're
like getting the next rep. And so if you're if
you're easy to get down on yourself or looking for
excuses and stuff, that's just gonna roll right into your
next rep whenever it might be. And it's just not
gonna be a good mix.

Speaker 1 (50:58):
I understand that, but what if he miss is like
four in a row, and like after the fourth money, you're.

Speaker 2 (51:03):
Like, I don't know what to tell this guy, Like
I don't even know you did.

Speaker 8 (51:06):
You definitely can't add to it. I can tell you
that you have enough guys on the team that will
come and be like, hey, why'd you miss that? And
he's gonna say I didn't mean to. It's like the
most clear and concise answer. It's like I didn't mean
to miss that.

Speaker 6 (51:20):
Sorry, man.

Speaker 8 (51:21):
So you have enough guys that will come and ask him,
like what happened? We all know, Like I know Ryan
knows how to hit the ball perfectly, a seventy yard
or whatever he wants to hit. If he doesn't hit that,
he has a better idea of what went wrong than
I do. And so I'm never gonna be like, hey,
your drop was a little to the left, Like he
knows more.

Speaker 7 (51:40):
About it than I do. And so it's kind of
like we're good, Like no worries.

Speaker 8 (51:43):
I'll give you the best snap and I'll try to
do my part as much as possible. And if it's
a low snap, I think Ryan actually punts the best
when it's a low snap.

Speaker 2 (51:53):
So if it's sometimes I tell myself that if it's not.

Speaker 6 (51:59):
Perfect, doesn't matter. Still got to.

Speaker 5 (52:00):
Work with it.

Speaker 8 (52:00):
Hey, Ryan, he definitely makes me look better, So if
it's a little off, he's like, Okay, we're gonna bomb this.

Speaker 2 (52:06):
What kind of punter are you? Do you do the
thing where you run around and find out or do.

Speaker 6 (52:10):
You just be So I'm more like pocket punters, so.

Speaker 3 (52:12):
You just sit there and like, bring a baby, you
bust it exactly. What's your longest collegiate punt?

Speaker 6 (52:17):
Collegiate pi is eighty three yards?

Speaker 2 (52:19):
Whoa yeah, I mean was that the perfect role?

Speaker 3 (52:22):
I mean did it hit probably like sixty and then
just fire off.

Speaker 6 (52:25):
That one hit probably like seventy really and then rolled
it to the end zone. But like right off your
foot you're like, oh yeah, I felt that one. Like
so it's like a nice drive in golf.

Speaker 2 (52:35):
You put it seventy in the air.

Speaker 1 (52:37):
Yeah, that's amazing.

Speaker 2 (52:38):
Yeah, golly, do you feel the guys coming?

Speaker 1 (52:41):
Like do you even focus that or do you like.

Speaker 6 (52:43):
Yeah, yeah, I mean you try not to. You're not
like steering at him as I'm gonna like pump the
ball or anything. But I mean we're human, right, Like,
if you feel guys flying past you. It's like you're
aware of it, but you're not like hyper focused on it,
if that makes sense.

Speaker 3 (52:59):
Have you ever got away with I made someone like
nicking your toe and you're like.

Speaker 6 (53:04):
You sell that as much as yeah?

Speaker 3 (53:05):
Yeah, oh yeah, because I was, Yeah, you gotta do it,
and I imagine most times it doesn't work, but occasionally
you can really sell it and get it.

Speaker 6 (53:13):
Oh yeah. It's it's kind of like dependent upon the
angle that they come in where the rest are looking for.
But if you feel contact, you're just dropping like a
sack of bricks, Like just make it look pretty and
lay there for a second. Attention.

Speaker 3 (53:27):
Do you hate when the not because they're about to score,
but just generally you versus him when the returner breaks
contain and it's he's coming, you're the last guy up.

Speaker 2 (53:35):
Oh yeah, that is that just a terrible feeling, the.

Speaker 6 (53:37):
Worst feeling in the world. Yeah, we just have that
against Texas. So it's not fun.

Speaker 3 (53:40):
Are you trying to position them to angle them to
the sideline? Like what if you see the guy coming,
what are you doing?

Speaker 6 (53:47):
It's so like bang bangs, So you're just I want
to get a at least a piece of them. I
want to get something on him. But like they're the
polar Taries, they're fast, like they're back there for a reason.
They can make stuff happen. And like, whenever you got
a guy with thirty yards head start running at you
and your stationary, it's gonna be really tough to to
kind of make up for that. You do the best

(54:10):
you can. If it doesn't end up working out like
that sucks, but again, you gotta move on and dant
dwell on it too much.

Speaker 2 (54:16):
Can you always see him when he catches the ball?

Speaker 6 (54:19):
Pretty yeah, I would think so. I don't think there's
ever been a time on like did he catch.

Speaker 2 (54:24):
It because the guys are on the way.

Speaker 6 (54:25):
Yeah, it's usually. I think it's pretty easy to tell,
just because you see the body linage of everybody else
around them, and so they kind of know, Okay, it
hit off of him and it's rolling around or fair catch,
whatever it is.

Speaker 3 (54:37):
Two final questions. Have you just nailed the perfect coffin
corner on a game before?

Speaker 6 (54:42):
Yeah? Yeah, a couple of dogs.

Speaker 2 (54:43):
God, that would be the the that's got to be
the greatest. It's pretty sad, the greatest.

Speaker 6 (54:47):
Yeah, just walk off the field.

Speaker 2 (54:49):
And it's like at the at the half or the
one or the one and a half.

Speaker 3 (54:52):
Oh, that would be awesome. Yeah, and then two your
what's your shortest shank?

Speaker 6 (54:57):
Short shank? Wait?

Speaker 1 (54:59):
Did eighty?

Speaker 6 (54:59):
I'm cre someone in twenty seven?

Speaker 3 (55:01):
And then when that happens is to hit off the
side of the foot, like what happens when there's a
man because all minor shanks, So I only know what
I do, like fourteen.

Speaker 2 (55:09):
Yards yeah, forty yeah, fourteen I was terrible, terrible.

Speaker 7 (55:13):
It's still doubled it.

Speaker 2 (55:14):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (55:16):
Now I think there's a lot of stuff because it's
there's just a lot of moving parts with punning, but
a lot of it is like okay, I either have
the ball too turned in or like a finger nicked
it and then you're just swinging so fast. It's it's
not perfect.

Speaker 1 (55:30):
Do you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (55:31):
Do you know immediately?

Speaker 6 (55:32):
Yeah? Oh yeah, it's literally that's the worst feeling.

Speaker 3 (55:35):
Okay, the is Nelly Coffin corner better than how bad?
Which one is the more severe? Is it worse or
is it better? Thought like that, I hate to lose
more than I love to win.

Speaker 2 (55:46):
Yeah, I felt that.

Speaker 6 (55:47):
Yeah, it's it's kind of like.

Speaker 2 (55:48):
So you hate that you hate this ship more than
you do do That's.

Speaker 6 (55:51):
The one, Like you could hit perfect punts every time,
but you have one of those. That's what you're gonna be.

Speaker 2 (55:56):
It's also got to be a weird thing. This will
be the last thing I say about this.

Speaker 3 (55:59):
To have a position where you need a good player,
but people don't want to see you. Yeah, because I
don't want to see the punter because that means we
have to punt.

Speaker 6 (56:08):
The ball, exactly.

Speaker 3 (56:09):
And you got to be like I can't wait to punt,
And I'm like, I don't want you to punt.

Speaker 2 (56:12):
You know is that's your job exactly and you want
to be good at it and.

Speaker 3 (56:16):
Show how good you are, especially to get collegiate honors
to go to the next level.

Speaker 2 (56:20):
But nobody wants you to have to punt.

Speaker 1 (56:22):
Did you know that round?

Speaker 6 (56:23):
What was that?

Speaker 2 (56:24):
Did you know that? We don't look forward to the funding.

Speaker 6 (56:26):
Everybody just wanted to see. No.

Speaker 2 (56:28):
Yeah, we love it.

Speaker 7 (56:29):
When you do good.

Speaker 2 (56:30):
We don't like it when you have to go out there. Yeah,
so I look at it.

Speaker 6 (56:33):
It's a win win. It's like we got a first down. Great,
team's doing great. Go if I win, let's like, let's
do it. If we don't get it, sweet, I get
a opportunity to go out and try and help the team,
but it's never I mean, it's like only your mom
wants to see you out there here the punter.

Speaker 2 (56:49):
Really, now me too, I'm gonna.

Speaker 7 (56:51):
Be his mom?

Speaker 6 (56:52):
Why everybody? Yeah? Yeah, family. But other than that, yeah,
it's comes with the territory. It's all right.

Speaker 8 (56:57):
I think the worst part during a game is when
it's third down. We have to huddle right by where
the line of scrimmage is at and you have all
the offensive players and we're like pund alert, pund alert. Fun,
team's coming out soon. And it's just as awkward because
everyone else.

Speaker 7 (57:13):
Is like, no, we're getting the first, we're getting the first.
And I'm like, we gotta get ready just in case
we don't. We don't want to go, but just in
case we're here ready.

Speaker 3 (57:22):
Yeah, well, we're ready to learn a little bit. So
let's hop to where you guys feel like it's pretty
good and she wants a couple.

Speaker 2 (57:27):
Of things and let's see what we can do perfect.

Speaker 7 (57:33):
Right.

Speaker 3 (57:33):
Next up is are sitting down with BYU head coach
Kilanie Sataki. He did you in our video of too
Much Access read edited in some footage of him playing
running back.

Speaker 1 (57:44):
It was like Michael saw it. Oh yeah, pretty amazing, peace.

Speaker 3 (57:48):
A train because he doesn't look like he'd be a
running back. He's got a bigger guy now, but no,
he was a bigger guy then, just just ball of
muscle man crazy. So coach hockey BYU in ninety four
and then ninety seven, ninety eight, ninety nine, two thousand
under Lavelle Edwards, who's the Hall of Famer.

Speaker 1 (58:06):
He's been the head coach a twenty sixteen.

Speaker 3 (58:07):
You can follow him on Twitter at Kelani Sataki And
here he this dude.

Speaker 1 (58:12):
I want to hang out with him some more makes
me want to be a Mormon. And I don't even
I don't even think he's a Mormon. I don't think
I know, I know, but I'm just like, whatever you
want to coach.

Speaker 7 (58:21):
I love the dude.

Speaker 1 (58:22):
All right, here you go, coach.

Speaker 3 (58:24):
First one to say that I'm coming into this with
a headache because I'd seen running backs run through those
shoots before on television mostly look pretty easy, like foamy,
like maybe it's like a massage. When you ran through
that one out there was like big thick, fat whiffleball bats. Yeah,

(58:44):
that didn't want to bend. And so is that one
stronger than normal or am I just weaker than normal?

Speaker 5 (58:51):
I think that's the standard of Okay, thank you, coach,
the standard one that we got.

Speaker 1 (58:55):
Yeah, thanks, So we're the weak ones.

Speaker 3 (58:57):
That was not pleasant for me As a former running
back yourself, what was the version of that whenever you
were running?

Speaker 5 (59:05):
It was similar, maybe just a little bit more rusted
and metal. Yeah, yeah, probably, yeah, But I mean maybe
that's just my memory. I think when you get older
everything was a lot tougher back in the day.

Speaker 6 (59:17):
I think it might be.

Speaker 5 (59:18):
The same stuff, but it's a very useful tool for
us to get ready, especially the running backs take on
hits and things like that.

Speaker 3 (59:25):
When I was playing, not the same, not comparing it,
but when I was playing high school football, we and
I know I got prefs it with something.

Speaker 2 (59:33):
We didn't get water when we wanted to do.

Speaker 6 (59:35):
Yeah, that was the thing.

Speaker 3 (59:36):
It was like water was a reward and you didn't
get it unless you deserved it. Now that doesn't happen now,
But was that in your day? Was that kind of
the same thing I remember?

Speaker 5 (59:44):
I mean, I don't know if kids drink out of
a garden holes anymore. But we did, and I think
our water was the hose hooked up to a pipe
that had you just kind of that's what you did.
You went and drank from that, and I think you
had a couple of water breaks in a two hour practice.
And now we got water available for these guys after

(01:00:06):
every play even, you know, so yeah, it's it's it's different.
But I mean, I don't know if that was wise
by our time, then.

Speaker 2 (01:00:12):
I don't think we're just dehydrated ery terrible idea.

Speaker 5 (01:00:17):
I think I'm thank goodness for science and and and
you know, technology that we can put the kids in
a better position to have success, because, uh, maybe we
lucked out by just maybe we didn't move fast enough.
These kids are a lot more explosive and a lot
more talented than we were back in the day.

Speaker 3 (01:00:33):
I was talking to a couple of players. They were
talking about the sports science crew you have here. What
is their main goal and what is it to help
the players with?

Speaker 5 (01:00:41):
Well, I believe in being innovative and creative, and so
a lot of times you have to stay ahead of
the ahead of the curve, and you have to kind
of be able to forecast change, and I think sometimes
we can become creatures of habit and in sports, especially
in football, because you just say, hey, this is the

(01:01:01):
way we've always done it, and I think the rules change.
There's a lot of different things that change constantly, and
if you're not changing with it, you're going to find
yourself way behind it. And so we bring this supports
science into it because the research that you do, in
the data they have gives us an opportunity to be
better and improve, and so that's what we're trying to do.
I don't think it's anything unique that we do. I

(01:01:24):
think everybody's kind of going that way. And I just
know that if you don't innovate and you don't create,
then you end up pretty much falling way behind. And
we don't want to do that.

Speaker 3 (01:01:33):
I have a couple of friends that are the coaches
at their alma maters, and when I talk to them,
it feels like it's a little bit like Batman, and
Batman says or in the movie it's like you die
a hero or you live long enough to be a villain.
Scott Frost is an example of Nebraska, like they love
that dude, like that's their dude.

Speaker 2 (01:01:51):
Any went up and it didn't go right for him.

Speaker 7 (01:01:53):
With you, it.

Speaker 2 (01:01:54):
Feels like this provo be white.

Speaker 3 (01:01:56):
It feels like they love you more than any of
those other coaches that I know, Like, like, you're there, dude,
And is there an extra pressure on you because you
got to represent one because this is your school and
two because well you're representing everybody that went to.

Speaker 1 (01:02:10):
This school and I mean this town.

Speaker 5 (01:02:12):
Well, I think for me, I grew up First of all,
I love being a player here for levelled Or it's
a legend and I had a great experience with him.
So a lot what we do in the program is
what he did for me, you know. And so the culture,
the environment, we're trying to create that family atmosphere that
he did for me when I was a student athlete,

(01:02:32):
because it works and so I enjoyed it. But before that,
before I was a coach and before I was a
player at BYU, I always loved BYU as a fan.
So I think for me it's maybe a little bit
different because I grew up a BYU fan in Hawaii
and just in the North Shore, and there's there's guys
in my neighborhood that played for BYU that I grew
up and they looked like me, and I see them

(01:02:54):
playing BYU, so to me it was easy follow. But
my family loved BYU, so we always kind of I
don't remember ever starting to cheer for them. I just
always did. And so I think for me, I understand
where the fans come from because I am one, so
I can understand the frustration. I can understand the excitement,
the energy, and so I think for me, I just

(01:03:15):
try to feed to that as much as possible and
try not to get so much in coaching mode. I mean,
I'm a coach, I get it. I'm responsible for the program,
but again my roots are that I'm a fan first,
and my responsibility as a coach is to provide entertainment
and make the fans happy as well as connected to
taking care of the players. And so if I do

(01:03:36):
that the right way, I think it should work out fine.

Speaker 1 (01:03:39):
Speaking of that coach, if it's fourth and one, fourth
and two and you're like, nah, we just got to
punt this, but the crowd's like, no, we.

Speaker 7 (01:03:46):
Gotta go for it.

Speaker 1 (01:03:47):
Do you give into that or are you just like no, Man,
I'm head coach. I think this is the right idea.

Speaker 5 (01:03:52):
I mean, I am a fan too, So when you
say the fans are doing that, I'm doing that.

Speaker 2 (01:03:55):
Too, yelling at too.

Speaker 5 (01:03:57):
Yeah, we go for a lot on fourth down. But
I mean, I'm the guy that when I played mad
and I tried different things. I you know, I use
punk block as a defense just for fun and saying
stuff like that, you know what I mean.

Speaker 7 (01:04:08):
Yeah, yeah, field goal blocks, stuff like that.

Speaker 5 (01:04:11):
I just wanted to try things out. And I think that, uh,
I think fans can appreciate the aggressive play, the desire
to want to make the play now. But I also
have had enough time as a player and as a
coach it that I can do things within reason, you know.
And and I like, I think everybody looks at the
analytics and the data and say, okay, this this makes
sense to do it this way, and the data the

(01:04:34):
resource says you should you should go for it. In
this situation, I still feel like there has to be
a feel for it and kind of a gut and
an instinct that that you kind of have to approach
to it as well, and considering the momentum and who's
on the in the in the game at a certain time,
so I try to factor.

Speaker 6 (01:04:49):
All that in.

Speaker 5 (01:04:50):
But even with that being variables that I consider, I
still make the wrong decisions sometimes. But if I'm going
to make the wrong decision, I want it to be
aggressed if and I want the fans to know that
the reason why I did it. I know I'm gonna
have to answer for it sometime, but I think I'm
okay with it is as long as I have the
right reasoning and and and the right data to back

(01:05:11):
it up. At the same time. Uh, sometimes when you're
in a really difficult spot and you just have a
feeling to go for it and doesn't work out, that's
all right. I mean, that's that's life.

Speaker 3 (01:05:20):
You know.

Speaker 5 (01:05:21):
I wouldn't have never met my wife if I didn't
do that. So I think it's okay to be bold
and to to to dare to do things, and even
to fail. I think it's okay to fail in the
great things and then you learn from it.

Speaker 7 (01:05:34):
I got to follow up to know what bold did
you do to meet your wife? Was it fourth and.

Speaker 1 (01:05:38):
One for a coach?

Speaker 5 (01:05:42):
No, I think it's just like just having the courage
that to introduce yourself and talk to two people. You know,
that's it's always scary. I think that the fear of
rejection stops a lot of people from from trying, and
sometimes failure will be will be something can really stop momentum,
you know, I get I try to look at the
best parts of life. I think sometimes we focus on

(01:06:04):
the negativity and then like a bad breakup for example,
and all that all that has done is get you
closer to finding the love of your life, you know. So,
I I really believe there's this adversity that happens in
your life, but how you respond to it really gets
you the prize at the end. And that's if I
didn't think that way, and everyone's raised that way by
my father and my family around me, that I don't

(01:06:25):
think I would be sitting here right now.

Speaker 3 (01:06:27):
Do you ever go out after a game, win or loss,
you don't really know or maybe don't like the other
coach and you just don't say anything to them, but
just like you smoke your mouth like so the camera
thinks you're saying something.

Speaker 5 (01:06:40):
No. I actually had tons of respect for every coach,
that's every single one of them.

Speaker 3 (01:06:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:06:44):
Well, I mean, obviously I try to get to know them.
Here's here's the thing I try to find the common bond.
Common bond is that we do the same job and
that we when we got into it, our our main
motivation was to mentor young people and the great teachers
for them and get a great example. So I can

(01:07:04):
respect that and the other coaches, I actually try to
try to get to know them and try to be
friends with them. I know that that's not my job.
I guess most coaches don't really care to be open
to that, but you'd be surprised. I think most of
the coaches are they're they're they're open to it. I
haven't had any problems getting to know other coaches, and
they're really friendly, you know. So I to to ask

(01:07:26):
your question, I haven't had one one coach that I've
actually met that I didn't like. I like them all,
and in fact, I've become really good friends with many
of them. Oh yeah, I've met Lane before. I mean
he so he coached with Norm Chow, who was a
mentor of mine, was offense coordinated when I was here,
and Sark who is a teammate of mine. Yeah. So
I appreciate his his honesty, and I think he has

(01:07:49):
some unique perspective. But you have to think about, well,
what can you learn from the things that he does
is he has a legendary father as a coach, and
I think he does some great things as a mentor too.
I know I know players that have played for him
and enjoyed his mentoring, and so yeah, I really appreciate
what he does in the game.

Speaker 3 (01:08:07):
Hilarious that it's hilarious to me. Final three questions. You
get the job, You're now the head coach, it's your
ama Monteror do you have a minute where you look
in the mirror and.

Speaker 2 (01:08:15):
You're like this is crazy? Like I get to be
the guy that gets to wear the.

Speaker 5 (01:08:20):
Why Yeah, every day, every day, and it's a dream
for me, So I don't. My goal is never to
take this job for granted and to make sure that
I am humble enough to realize that day one, the
day that i'm right now my eighth year as a coach,
that I have to have the same energy and that

(01:08:40):
same excitement as it was day one. And I think
I've been able to do that. But it's just I'm human,
So it's not easy, you know. That's why I have
wonderful people around me, like my wife and my other
loved ones. That can keep me humble and I have
no problems listen. I know that it takes a lot
of hard work to get here, but the hard work
and the sacrifice mostly by the people that love me.

(01:09:03):
And all I did was kind of listen and be
obedient to things that they asked me, the advice that
they give me, and then it just worked out for me.
So I would always tell young people that if you
want you want a good life, then make sure that
you have wonderful people around you that support you, love
you from day one, you know the day ones, and
then just listen to them and anytime they criticize you

(01:09:25):
or give you some advice, and there's nothing wrong with
listening and kind of applying it to So for me,
I try to live my life like that. And the
day that I don't and that I don't enjoy it and
I lost that day. One excitement is the day I
should retire.

Speaker 1 (01:09:40):
Coach I played in high school and made fun of
me for saying that, No, I'm just saying I played
in high school and Bones and I we've been able
to do this at a few schools and we suit
up and we put the gear on, we run the drills,
running back drills and all this stuff, and after like
twenty minutes or fifty minutes, I'm like, this is exhausting,
and you guys do a day and day out, And
I promise, coach, I will no longer sit on the

(01:10:02):
couch and criticize what you guys do, because that's.

Speaker 7 (01:10:06):
Some hard work.

Speaker 1 (01:10:07):
Your boys are putting some hard work and you're putting
a lot of time in and we just sit at
home with a beer in our hand being like this
is like, come on.

Speaker 5 (01:10:16):
Why would you do that?

Speaker 1 (01:10:17):
That's a stupid play And what do you think about that? Like,
what what do you think about us?

Speaker 5 (01:10:22):
Well, it's well, and I appreciate the fans because without
without the fans, and this game doesn't move, you know.

Speaker 1 (01:10:30):
It's so we're critical, coach.

Speaker 5 (01:10:31):
Yeah, and that's okay. Yeah, but if you do your
job and there all your fans are happy, and my
goals to make all all our fans happy, you know.
But the other side of that is, as you for
our players, you look at the people that are willing
to do it, the players that are willing to work
all these days, all these hours, for only sixty minutes
of an opportunity to play, and so when you think

(01:10:53):
about our guys. We have one hundred and twenty three
guys in the team, and they practice and they train
all year round, some mandatory, some on their optional, and
they only get twelve opportunities if they're healthy to play
sixty minutes each and if you're a starter, you probably
play like maybe twenty twenty two minutes of that. And
so when you think about it, and you add up

(01:11:14):
all this all the time, and you invest in it
to only get maybe a chance that twenty two minutes
as a starter, and you're a backup guy or you're
not even on a travel squad, and they are willing
to do it just for the chance to play on
that field, that's something special. And then you're going against
a team that feels the same way, So how can
you not respect them for doing the same thing. And

(01:11:35):
and you're in the stadiums filled with fans that love
what you do. But I think that the fans understood
the sacrifice and the energy the investment that these young
men put into it, and the coaches then they can
maybe understand a little bit more. But there's nothing wrong
with fans getting excited and having fun. And if you
know as a fan, maybe maybe put down the beer
and drink a root beer once in a while.

Speaker 3 (01:11:55):
Yeast much fun. Then you won't be Yeah, last question,
talk about being in the Big Twelve for the first time.

Speaker 5 (01:12:04):
Yeah, we love it, and we knew we were going
to be in a couple of years ago, and when
the announcement happened. I'm so excited about the leadership and
the Big Twelve. I'm excited about the camaraderie and the
connection that I have to the other coaches. And you
talk about other coaches, the coaches in the Big Twelve
have been amazing and and talk about like sportsmanship and
and and just the business relationship we have. But then

(01:12:27):
it's also for them to be so welcoming to me
and to the other new coaches into the conference. It's
been really cool. We've been part of the meetings for
a couple of years now and all those guys have
been amazing. And then to see them as coaches and
then to have them include us as with something really special.
And I love being a part of this conference. And
then we get to go out and see all these

(01:12:48):
fans at the different stadiums on the road, and then
they come here to visit it's been really cool. I've
enjoyed it now, you know, on the field, the field stuff,
I mean, that's what I have to control. But it
can't really complain that love being a part of something
really special and and I love that that our leadership
is innovative and trying to find different ways. But the
partners in this, in this conference are amazing.

Speaker 3 (01:13:08):
Coach, appreciate you, love how you do what you do.
I think a lot of what you do speaks for itself,
and a lot of what you say when you speak
just reinforces what you do.

Speaker 1 (01:13:18):
And so a big fan.

Speaker 3 (01:13:19):
I didn't like to beat the crap out of this
this year, but whatever. But other than that, congratulations.

Speaker 5 (01:13:24):
You got a great team. I mean, it happens all
of us. And I mean the thing is that's what
makes football fun and exciting.

Speaker 3 (01:13:29):
That wasn't fun for me, So no, that was not
I know, so you can't understand positive.

Speaker 5 (01:13:35):
That environment was awesome though. It is amazing for us
to be there in that, but it was We lost
the Texas. That was an amazing experience too. We just
the scoreboard just didn't work out our way. But you know,
I think there's a there's always some positive things to
take from.

Speaker 1 (01:13:51):
It, not for me, not from that game.

Speaker 7 (01:13:53):
This guy.

Speaker 3 (01:13:54):
Okay, coach, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 6 (01:13:57):
Guys.

Speaker 2 (01:13:58):
Okay, so let's do this before we wrap it up.

Speaker 3 (01:14:02):
Promises. I believe I promised UNLV.

Speaker 4 (01:14:06):
You had no UTSA.

Speaker 1 (01:14:08):
Hey, great promise. That's right.

Speaker 4 (01:14:10):
You know it was last week.

Speaker 3 (01:14:11):
That's right, got it? Yep, Utsa. I promise UTSA would
win and they did. And I text the coach after
the game, like right when the game was over, and
he text me back, it's pretty awesome.

Speaker 1 (01:14:20):
Did we watch that on the bus? That was fun?
After Louisville.

Speaker 3 (01:14:23):
It was a late game for San Antonio because that's
Central time zone.

Speaker 1 (01:14:26):
It was eleven thirty. Were on the bus to.

Speaker 3 (01:14:28):
Come back from Louisville on a comedy show. So no
money for me going to the pot.

Speaker 1 (01:14:32):
Nice work, read it.

Speaker 3 (01:14:34):
I had the Cowboys minus ten and a half. No
money from you, No money, Eddie.

Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
I had the Cowboys tan and minus standing money money.

Speaker 4 (01:14:41):
From me, Calvin, guys, I had to pay up already, okay,
Steelers plus one.

Speaker 3 (01:14:46):
Oh what's in the broken promises?

Speaker 7 (01:14:48):
Jar?

Speaker 4 (01:14:50):
Lots of money?

Speaker 1 (01:14:51):
Do we have a tab on it yet?

Speaker 4 (01:14:54):
It's like one hundred because I think last time shacks.
There's one sick on seventy.

Speaker 3 (01:15:01):
And then let's talk about our NFL picks. We all
picked every game and.

Speaker 1 (01:15:04):
Oh yeah, yeah, just finding ways.

Speaker 3 (01:15:06):
To put money in the program. So first, because the
last place is only the only one has to do it.

Speaker 1 (01:15:12):
Kevin, who finished first?

Speaker 4 (01:15:14):
Read and I tied again for first?

Speaker 1 (01:15:16):
Stuck with this? What is happening?

Speaker 6 (01:15:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:15:19):
Okay, who finished h third? Who got who got too cute? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:15:22):
Who finished the last place? If somebody finished last.

Speaker 4 (01:15:24):
Place, there's a tie?

Speaker 1 (01:15:27):
Oh no, so it's void. Yeah, put in five apiece. No,
I like that. No, we finished last. We have to
go ten each. I'm getting to the point where I
have to clear it with my wife.

Speaker 3 (01:15:38):
Now, I hear you, but you can win it all
back and like a week? Correct, well week do we
do this?

Speaker 1 (01:15:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:15:45):
Twelve?

Speaker 6 (01:15:45):
So next week?

Speaker 3 (01:15:46):
Oh already thirteen thirteen. That feels early. Twelve feels early.
Let me run through my final notes with Brice Young.
I think it will be good. I wrote that I
watched in the whole game.

Speaker 1 (01:15:55):
That's what you wrote down. Yeah, that's all I wrote.
Remember to say it. The Bears are solid with fields
being healthy. They choked at the end. I wrote that
down like that.

Speaker 3 (01:16:03):
Straut with three picks kept trying to give the game up,
but the Texans defense and rest of the team wouldn't
allow it. He's a good win for the Texans. The
Giants picked six versus Washington. Oh, the throw out of
balance and a toss out of balance. Oh, that's what
he was throwing the ball out of bounds. But that
was their They intercepted the ball and ran it back.
It was a throwaway past.

Speaker 4 (01:16:24):
Oh, I just saw the end of it.

Speaker 1 (01:16:25):
I didn't know that was.

Speaker 3 (01:16:26):
Exactly what he was trying to throw the ball out
of bounce, and that's what the interception was. Yeah, he
didn't throw it far enough. Oh, I was pissed about that.

Speaker 1 (01:16:34):
Eliminader got me.

Speaker 3 (01:16:35):
Jalen Ramsey's big hot flying pick for the dolphinse he's hurt.

Speaker 1 (01:16:38):
Hope he's okay. I wrote that. Hope he's okay. I
don't know why. I guess you're probably thinking you're gonna
send him the notes. And then Herbert loses again. His
final pass was blocked. Line. That was it? So, uh,
what were your notes on the Cowboys?

Speaker 3 (01:16:52):
I didn't make a note. I knew I would remember he.

Speaker 1 (01:16:54):
Just wrote how about them cowboys? I didn't write that.

Speaker 3 (01:16:58):
So Eddie, we owe ten more bucks man Kevin O's
ten bucks. We have one more week and then we
bet go two weeks for the money.

Speaker 1 (01:17:06):
Right, yeah, where's the week thirteen?

Speaker 3 (01:17:09):
So now we have two weeks then, because this week
ten we just.

Speaker 1 (01:17:11):
Finished, right, I think we just finished even Yeah it's
week eleven, okay.

Speaker 3 (01:17:15):
I must be looking at records that have had by
a week.

Speaker 1 (01:17:17):
Then yeah, yeah, we just leashed eleven. So one more week.

Speaker 3 (01:17:20):
Then we play for the money yep, where we eliminate
one person each week.

Speaker 1 (01:17:25):
Oh my god, O good, Yeah that sounds great. Do
you want to hear my betting stats for the weekend? Oh? Please?
I feel like you did. You did pretty well well.

Speaker 3 (01:17:35):
The problem was they were like, if you meet this
criteria of betting this many bets of one hundred and
fifty bucks a bet, you'll get a free seventy.

Speaker 1 (01:17:43):
Five dollars bet.

Speaker 3 (01:17:44):
And I was like, only have three more to do,
so I'm just gonna bet one fifty one fifty one fifty.
I also all three of the one fifties, but you
got a bonus bet of seventy five. So overall they
got you got me that last game last night, so
we got me, okay, So here we go. Over the
weekend in Cuba bets, I bet twenty five total wager
three thousand, seven hundred and sixty three dollars, total winnings
five thousand, five hundred ten dollars for a plus of

(01:18:06):
seventeen forty seven.

Speaker 1 (01:18:08):
That's a good week making money at smiles whatever making smiles.
Get them out the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:18:16):
Those last bets got me because I bet all those
one fifties on the game and I lost. All the
total bets seventeen total wagers four thousand, seven hundred and
seventy dollars, total winnings four thousand, six hundred eighty nine
dollars for minus eighty one. Over the weekend, I'm plus
one thousand, six hundred and sixty six dollars at at
eight thousand dollars betting weekend. Now for the whole summary
of the year, total bets three hundred and sixty six

(01:18:37):
total wager sixty two thousand, two hundred and forty dollars.

Speaker 1 (01:18:43):
Last week, risk taker.

Speaker 3 (01:18:45):
Last week I was at minus twenty five hundred. This
week I'm at minus eight hundred and fifty seven. Okay,
I'm working my way. I had too bad really bet
not this week, but the San Francsco in the Arkansas
bets were multiple thousands.

Speaker 1 (01:18:55):
I'm trying to dig out from so Kevin. What was
my worst game of the weekend?

Speaker 4 (01:19:00):
Washington the Commanders? You had them minus three and a half,
minus one and a half, minus eight and a half.
I lost four un and fifty bucks.

Speaker 1 (01:19:06):
You were believing on that one. I kept think that
we're going to come back. Sure, I think we all did.
I lost four fifty four to fifty. And what was
my best?

Speaker 4 (01:19:12):
But your best was the Thursday night game the Bengals
where you bet two thousand total between two different bets
and you won THIRDY.

Speaker 1 (01:19:18):
Forgot about thirty. That was early on.

Speaker 6 (01:19:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:19:20):
Yeah, we talked about that on the show Friday.

Speaker 6 (01:19:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:19:22):
I think we did. Yeah, we did. Yeah, and I
want how much?

Speaker 6 (01:19:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:19:25):
You won three thousand, six hundred and.

Speaker 1 (01:19:26):
Thirty eight bucks had a boy had a boy on.

Speaker 4 (01:19:29):
The over and Bengals plus fourteen.

Speaker 1 (01:19:31):
That helps you claw back.

Speaker 3 (01:19:32):
I squeak and I squeaked those man. Oh yeah, very
last touchdown drive, I.

Speaker 1 (01:19:38):
Hit a good one. I hit four part Christian McCaffrey
to score a touchdown, Ceedee Lamb to score a touchdown,
behave those, David Montgomery score a touchdown, and Tyree after
on the top I saw that, would you how much
you bet? I just put five bucks on how much
you get? I want like twenty let's go too.

Speaker 3 (01:19:53):
Who cares about what the money is, it's the return
on it.

Speaker 1 (01:19:56):
I'm with you, dude. Four time.

Speaker 4 (01:19:58):
I took one of those two that had the this
and Luca over as well Saturday night and they both
hit five bucks forty six bucks.

Speaker 1 (01:20:05):
Wow, that's awesome.

Speaker 3 (01:20:08):
I took a couple of those. There were like ten
leggers that they had up there, and they both they
all missed.

Speaker 1 (01:20:12):
Oh hit the button.

Speaker 2 (01:20:15):
I did bet.

Speaker 3 (01:20:16):
I did bet a thirteen game parlay and missed one game.

Speaker 1 (01:20:21):
Dude, I listened to this podcast and they do a parlay.
I miss one. I missed early, and I was so pissed.
I think I missed one.

Speaker 3 (01:20:28):
Maybe I missed one and I missed early and I
didn't check back, and maybe I didn't win the last two.

Speaker 1 (01:20:31):
I don't know. Uh what podcast, Uh twenty five whistles
they do a three game parlay. I put some money
on that and didn't didn't hit that on. Those guys
