Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) is critical of mayors and governors who are obstructing immigration enforcement efforts by ICE and other federal agencies. She sees this as a major issue that the public overwhelmingly supports. Senator Blackburn discusses the Republican tax cut bill, emphasizing the need for permanence in the tax cuts to spur long-term economic growth. Assistant Secretary at the Department of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin defends the immigration enforcement actions taken by the Trump administration, arguing that they are focused on removing dangerous criminal illegal aliens. Clay and Buck also share behind-the-scenes details from their recent visit to the West Wing, where they met with President Trump and key administration figures. They describe a confident and energized president, particularly proud of his recent move to terminate California’s electric vehicle (EV) mandate, restoring consumer choice and protecting the U.S. auto industry from overregulation. The repeal of the EV mandate is framed as a major victory for free markets, energy independence, and American manufacturing. Finally, the episode touches on the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, with real-time updates on missile attacks and air raid sirens in Tel Aviv. The hosts analyze the strategic implications of Israel’s precision strikes and the broader geopolitical fallout, emphasizing the strength of U.S.-Israel relations under President Trump and the potential for regime change in Iran.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to Team forty seven with Clay and Buck.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
I'm sitting in studio right now with Senator Marsha Blackburn
from Tennessee, and I'm up here because my son is
going to be doing an internship and this is an
intern season for so many different offices out there. Do
you remember the first time you came to d C.
I know, up here for a while. What do you
remember about that?

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Hell? You know, I was in high school and it
was a four h club leadership summit and it was
absolutely so exciting to me and to come up and
to have lunch with my senator and get that photo
and you know what fun.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
What do you think young Marsha Blackburn on that four
h trip would have thought if you had told her, Hey,
one day you're going to be a congresswoman and a
senator yourself. Do you think you would have believed it?
Were you interested in politics at that age?

Speaker 3 (00:58):
I was very involved.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
I thought that good citizenship was important and we even
as I was cleaning out some things, one day I
found a flyer I had done and distributed to all
my neighbors as part of a citizenship project, reminding them
to go vote and the importance of going to vote.
But never would I have thought I would have been

(01:24):
an elective office. But you know, that's just one of
those things I tell young people all the time. Be
ready to walk through open doors and realize you don't
chart your path, God charts your path, and to be
mindful and to accept those open doors.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
What did you think last night when you saw the
footage from Los Angeles out.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Of control, These men and women that are there trying
to get these criminal illegal aliens. Why in the world
would you have a mayor and a governor that are
signed and trying to protect criminal illegal aliens and to obstruct,
to ice and keep them from doing their job. And

(02:09):
you know, I Clay, you talk to so many people
when you're on the air every day. I'm not hearing
from people that want to keep criminal illegal aliens. Look
at what is happening in Nashville. And this is not
a partisan issue. This is a ninety percent issue. And
people will say, if they are criminals, they need to

(02:33):
be removed. Let's remove these individuals. And people realize that
coming across that border illegally is a crime. And of
course we ice this out there doing their job. We
are a nation that is built on the rule of law,

(02:55):
and it is imperative that these officials implement and by
the law. If they don't like the law, they can
try to change the law, but it is there are
set procedures for entering the country legally. There are statutes
that determine what is and is not a crime, and

(03:20):
whether it's a felony or a misdemeanor. And to have
people that want to pick and choose and say we're
going to enforce this, but we're not going to enforce that,
and a sanctuary for this but not for that.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
This is.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
What really spurs a lot of the chaos that you're
seeing take place in places like LA.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
It's not just La either, because I hear from some
people and I know we've got a lot of people
listening in California, but they say, oh, that's just a
blue city there.

Speaker 5 (03:49):
What do I care. We live in a red state.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
You and me, one of my senators, I'm glad that
you are, and maybe more here in a little bit.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
But when you see what's happened.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
In Nashville, because I think a lot of people out
there say, okay, state Tennessee, very read there's a Mayor
Freddie O'Connell in a city of Nashville, who has basically said, hey,
we're going to try to stop ICE from doing their work.
This has become a big talking point many cities all
over the place. First, you have got a bill called
the Remove Act that would take from ninety days down

(04:22):
to fifteen days to help expedite the removal of people
who shouldn't be in this country. So that is something
you're doing directly to try to help the president. But
when you see a city like Nashville, when you see
someone making the choices that the mayor there is making,
that Karen bass is making in Los Angeles, to directly
defy the president's authority, can you believe it?

Speaker 4 (04:43):
It is difficult to believe.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
And this is why removing these criminal, illegal aliens is
a ninety percent issue and people want them to be
taken out of the country. And the other thing is
the dosing. This is something that happened in Nashville, and
you had the mayor and his office that actually exposed

(05:08):
the names of HSI investigators and also of our ICE
agents and their operations. Now you cannot do that and
exposing that we found out that it is not illegal
to reveal the name of a law enforcement officer. It

(05:32):
is illegal when they're undercover and you reveal their information.
So my preventing law enforcement docsing that legislation. We've also
filed to include law enforcements who are implementing the law

(05:52):
in that so that we can protect our law enforcement
officers at the local, state, and federal level. It should
be ill legal to dox them, whether they're undercover or
out doing their regular job. And what we see happening
with this obstruction is people are saying, why are the

(06:14):
Democrats choosing to die on this hill?

Speaker 5 (06:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Why are they absolutely making this their issue number one
when this is something that people overwhelmingly support. Get them
removed from the country. Protect law enforcement, don't dox them,
don't go put their pictures up, don't go put their

(06:38):
home address, don't endanger their families. People want to show
respect for law enforcement.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Department of Justice is investigating what Nashville has happened, right,
you've asked for that, Yes, Pam Bondi's the attorney general.
What do you expect that investigation to be? Like, how
should it be?

Speaker 3 (06:55):
You know, I'm sure they will have something to say
about this. I have sent the letter over. I have
requested that they formalize an investigation, and I would expect
that at some point we will hear from that. You
do have the Homeland Security Committee in the House, which

(07:15):
is chaired by Representative Green out of Tennessee. Yes, and
also the Judiciary Committee in the House. They have started
an investigation and looking at what happened with obstructing these raids.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Were you a stud I mean, you've lived in the
state of Tennessee and in the Nashville area, as have
I for a very long time. And look, sometimes mayors
are good, sometimes mayors are bad, particularly as it pertains
to any big.

Speaker 5 (07:42):
City that you might have in a state.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
I was stunned when I saw the mayor of Nashville,
Freddie O'Connell, engaging in this behavior and having a press
conference to brag about it.

Speaker 5 (07:52):
Were you as stunned as I was?

Speaker 3 (07:54):
I was stunned. I couldn't believe that there would be
a defiance of removing criminals. You know, one of the
top issues when you talk to people in Middle Tennessee
and West Tennessee crime They talk about the escalated occurrence
of criminal acts carjackings, particularly home robbery.

Speaker 5 (08:17):
Had one of the highest violent crime rates in the whole.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
Nation, right, and so it has stunned people that Nashville
had a mayor that would come out and would choose
to protect criminal, illegal aliens over law abiding citizens. When
people have been saying we've got to get the crime down,

(08:40):
They've been really unsettled by the number of home robberies
that have taken place and the number of gangs that
have moved into the Nashville area. I have not talked
to a single person who wants to have more Trenda
or Agua or MS thirteen in their community. I mean

(09:00):
not one. They want them gone.

Speaker 5 (09:04):
They should be gone.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
We're talking to Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Okay, in particular.
Now big beautiful bill is underway. Yes, you are in
the Senate majority fifty three Republicans. I'm sure you like
everybody else. Saw Elon and Trump going back and forth.
Elon says, there's not enough cutting of spending that's going on.

Speaker 5 (09:27):
This is past the House.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
President Trump says, hey, we're going to create incredible growth rate.
We're going to put in place all these tax cuts
for years and years ago, because otherwise they expire what
should we know about the big beautiful bill? What should
the timeframe be? There's a ton of deal with the
border as well, which would help to ideally keep some
other president like Biden from wide opening the border again

(09:50):
to allow people to pour in.

Speaker 5 (09:52):
What's the latest, what should we know? What's the time
for it?

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Yes, and we are hopeful to have it to the
President by July fourth, so that we've got that true
independence today. And we know that this is a tax
cut bill. It is kind of tax cut and jobs
at two point zero, and we will make those tax
cuts permanent. We're also trying to make permanent R and

(10:17):
D business bonus appreciation, interest expensing because we've got a
lot of small businesses in Tennessee ninety three percent of
our jobs or small business jobs in the state, and
that's important to them. Also provisions for no tax on
tips over time, and social Security and that is my

(10:38):
legislation to remove the tax from social Security for our seniors.
So we're in the process of negotiating those. We're finalizing
some of those provisions. We want to get permanents on
these provisions. That's how you get that extended growth that

(10:59):
will run out past ten years. So we'd like not
to be back at the negotiating table. And businesses and
individuals Tennesseeans tell me all the time. Just tell me
what the rules are and I'll play by the rules.
But we don't like this changing everything, and especially when
we have so many small businesses, mom and pops, small business,

(11:22):
manufacturing businesses on our main streets. We need some permanence.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
We've had Senator Ron Johnson on the show. He says
more spending needs to be cut. We've had Ran Paul
on saying the same thing. Are you optimistic that the
Senate is going to be able to come to us, Yes, sir,
I am.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
The House did one and a half trillion and spending reductions.
The Senate won't say two trillion dollar reduction, and we've
got a pathway to do that. Now. The Doge cuts
are they have to come to us through omb from
the White House, and then that is going into what

(12:00):
is called a recision bill, So we can't put those
into the reconciliation the tax bill. They've got to travel separately.
Kind of. It's the same time we got the first
package of those. It's nine billion dollars, which over a
ten billion, a ten year period, you're talking about significant savings.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
Last question for you. I think the key to all
this is growth. There's a guy who lives in the
Nashville area. You're kind of smart, Raffer, Come on, he
makes this case, but I think it's one that is
being missed a little bit. And I want to give
you an opportunity. But if we get the growth of
the economy to three percent or more, which I think

(12:42):
we will, then we are going to actually start.

Speaker 5 (12:46):
To cut the deficit.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
That's correct, and it's really important because the CBO, and
there's all these numbers that are running around out there,
all of it's predicated the projections on what the growth
rate of the country is. If we get to three percent,
then the national debt starts getting paid down, and the
President's focused on growth more than cuts. Ideally you get both,
but growth to a large extent, according to people like

(13:10):
Art Laugher, is the most important thing that is accurate.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
And bear in mind CBO is always wrong on their projections.
They have been wrong every single time. They were wrong
on the twenty seventeen cuts. And so you do want
to reduce spending and you want to get that growth.
And President Trump had the Senate Finance Republicans at the

(13:35):
White House last week to work on some of this
with him, the Vice President, Secretary Besson, and Kevin Hassett.
And one of the things we know is that if
you are growing, if you put these cuts in place,
and it's the largest tax cut, and you get permanence

(13:56):
on R and D and expensing and depreciation, then you
are going to see that because you will have your
small businesses choose to grow, yes, and to hire and
to expand. That is how you get that growth. And
the multiplier effect on that is so significant.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
And not only that COVID hit right as Trump's economy
was exploding right January of twenty twenty February of twenty
twenty probably the greatest economic season we've ever had, correct
and then COVID happened, and suddenly everything goes off the rails.
We get that rolling again by twenty twenty four, twenty
twenty eight, in the next election cycle, we should be firing.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
On all silly That is accurate, and we are looking
forward to having this permanence. And then bear in mind too,
in twenty seventeen, when we did the Tax Cut and
Jobs Act, the biggest benefact of those changes were your

(15:03):
small businesses. You saw such an explosion of small business manufacturing,
and this was so good for Tennessee. We had a
lot of businesses that had been there for years that
this was their chance to grow. So they jumped to
that level. And now they are waiting to hire, they

(15:23):
are waiting to invest, they're waiting to punch send on
those equipment orders. Yeah, because they want to be able
to depreciate that in that first year or two and
then move into upgrades.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
Senator Marshall Blackburn with us, by the way, just walking
in behind you, one of your senate colleagues, Senator Tommy Tubberville.
You guys see to the governor colleagues before long.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
Two.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
Tommy Tubberville is a great guy. We call him Coach.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Yeah, he's going to be on with us here at
just a second. Senator Marshall Blackburn, thank you. Keep up
the good work, and we look forward to celebrating when
the big beautiful bill is done.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
You got it.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Team forty seven.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
We are joined now by Tricia McLoughlin, who is doing
fabulous work inside of the Trump administration, and in fact
she is the Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

Speaker 5 (16:17):
Obviously a lot going on there, Tricia.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
When you watch the footage, and I'm sure you're watching
it on Fox News or CNN of the protests inside of.

Speaker 5 (16:28):
LA, what's your thought? What are you thinking as you're
watching that?

Speaker 6 (16:33):
I mean, I'm thinking multiple things. First of all, I'm
so disgusted by these writers in which Karen Bass and
Gavin Newsom continue to call peaceful protests. But I'm also
so proud of our law enforcement in the face of
such hatred, in the face of taunting, in the face
of violence they're being pummeled by rocks. They are so
patriotic and professional and staying with such dignity, and I

(16:56):
think all Americans can be so proud of them.

Speaker 4 (16:59):
Tricia.

Speaker 7 (16:59):
I appreciate you being with us. When are we going
to be able to get some data? Is it really
just collected on a monthly basis on the actual numbers
of people that have been taken into custody and then
deported under these operations like the one that got these
rioters so riled up in Los Angeles, Because I think

(17:20):
that that data speaks to the speed with which the
administration is moving and the seriousness with which they are
approaching this effort.

Speaker 8 (17:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (17:28):
Absolutely. So we're north of three hundred in the last
seventy two hours for arrest of criminal legal aliens. So
that includes child molesters, rapists, convicted murder, parsness, multiple gang members.
These are the heinous individuals that Gavin Newsom in Karenbath
and the ACLU and these rioters are trying to protect

(17:49):
as our ice enforcement officers are putting themselves in a
harm's way to get these criminal legal aliens off of
our streets. And our message to protesters is we're only
going to ramp up. We're going to keep going. We're
not going to be to turn by their violence, and
you'll only see arrest them or spikes.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
It seems that the overwhelming majority I've been looking at
the polling supports the idea of what President Trump and
your department are doing, which is arresting people who shouldn't
be here, particularly violent predators, and getting them outside of
the country. What is Gavin Newsom just already running for
president in your mind? I mean, he's already a failed
governor of California. We know Karen Bass is a felled mayor.

(18:30):
Presidents had to travel out there to talk about the
need to allow people to rebuild all over the LA
area for the wildfires that took down their homes. It
seems crazy to me that this would be the decision
of the Democrat Party.

Speaker 5 (18:44):
But I'm looking right now.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
I don't know if you've you've seen this yet, but
there is a new poll out showing the Democrat Party
approval rating. This is from Quinnipiac. The Democrat Party has
a twenty one percent approval rating a seventy percent.

Speaker 5 (19:00):
This just came out.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
They seem to just be intent on opposing whatever Trump does,
even if what President Trump is doing is wildly popular.

Speaker 6 (19:11):
Yeah, I think you're exactly right. They are desperate for
a message. They don't have one. They're just trying to
work the same tricks and the same message that they
did in twenty twenty and twenty twenty four. Their message
has been Trump's bad and January sixth bad. It's been
five years, guys, and the American people love Donald Trump.
They don't have a message, and they're really doubling down
on protecting these criminal illegal aliens. We know we have

(19:34):
the will of the American people. Donald Trump ran on
mass deportations and getting these criminal legal aliens off of
our streets, and that's exactly what he's delivering. So I
think there's some derangement syndrome going on for sure, and
Davin Newsom is doubling down on incompetent governance, and I
think that the polls are are going to not look

(19:56):
so great for him if he does. DeFi to run
in a Democrat primary.

Speaker 7 (20:00):
Christian McLoughlin, thank you so much for being with us
from DHS. Let you rest up that voice.

Speaker 6 (20:06):
I appreciate it. We're working hard.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
Thank you, Thanks for what you're doing.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
This is Team forty seven.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
We actually happened to be in the West Wing yesterday
for a substantial amount of time. We met with President Trump,
saw jd Vance, Stephen Miller, Caroline Levitt, a lot of
the people that we have known for years that are
doing phenomenal work. And I would describe I think you
probably would sign off on it President Trump as extremely relaxed.

(20:33):
He wanted us to see the changes that he's made
to the Oval Office, the changes that he has made
in terms of portraiture in the cabinet rooms and everything
immediately ancillary to the Oval Office. Also, you can see
and I think this is going to end up being
pretty cool. He is in the process of building a
patio where you can dine outside, so it will be

(20:54):
like he has basically at Mara a Lago, but this
would extending for himself. He says this would extend for
future presidents as well. But he likes the idea of
having sort of his own slawn where you can walk
outside and have meals on a patio just outside the
Oval office in the West wing. But I would describe
him as super relaxed. He wanted all of you to

(21:17):
know that he appreciates you and really is greatly thankful.

Speaker 5 (21:20):
For all of your support.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
But the thing that he seemed most excited about talking
about is something that hasn't gotten a great deal of attention.
Buck and I wanted to play this audio because it's
kind of gotten lost in the shuffle of everything that
has happened since Israel attack Deron. But with us, he
wanted to say, because he signed this bill, he wanted
to talk about the impact of ending the electric vehicle

(21:44):
mandate and what he believed was going to be a
substantial change for the better for many different American drivers
out there.

Speaker 5 (21:52):
And this is cut eighteen with Bucket Eye and you
can go see the pictures.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
By the way, some of you want to see the pictures,
they're up at all the Clay and buck social media accounts.
We were happy to have the time that we did
with the President and all the staff. But here is
cut eighteen, Trump announcing yesterday that he was terminating the
California ev mandate, which matters to a lot of you
out there.

Speaker 5 (22:12):
Listen, this is good news.

Speaker 8 (22:13):
Indeed, people said it couldn't be done. You got it done.
I just have to sign right. That's very good. This
is really something and it has to do with the
California Auto Regulation CRA. It's been a disaster for this country.
And I want to thank everybody for being here. We

(22:37):
officially rescue the US auto industry from destruction by terminating
to California Electric Vehicle mandate once and for all.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
Okay, there is the announcement park from President Trump. I
knew we want to talk about a lot of different things,
but this is the thing he was most excited to talk.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
About with us.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Yeah, I know he was.

Speaker 7 (23:02):
We sat down and we were obviously we're already thinking
about Iran, but also we're talking border, we're talking riots,
in La and how he's and he was like, gentlemen,
did you see did you see the thing I did.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
On the vehicles.

Speaker 7 (23:14):
We're like, yeah, yes, sir, mister President, we saw, and
he really because he had.

Speaker 4 (23:19):
Just signed it. I was very proud of it.

Speaker 7 (23:20):
He just done a press conference on it, just to
bring everybody up to speed on this clay, because.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
This has got This is one of these.

Speaker 7 (23:27):
It's actually a big deal, but it has gotten in
the media cycle, the new cycle we live in. It
has definitely gotten buried quite a bit.

Speaker 4 (23:36):
The Republican led.

Speaker 7 (23:37):
Congress past these resolutions in May to reverse Biden administration
approval of the California Electric Vehicle mandate. When the president
signs a joint resolution revoking federal laws, it carries the
force of law and are not subject to judicial review.

(23:59):
So this is actually something that matters a whole lot,
and for anyone who's forgotten what this says.

Speaker 4 (24:05):
California in twenty twenty four.

Speaker 7 (24:08):
Bend gasoline powered car sales by twenty thirty five and
revoked the federal waiver that would allow that allows it
to set its own tailpipe emission standards under the Clean
Air Act. Seventeen states thirty percent of the US vehicle
market had adopted this plan, which we know again this
is a California EV mandate.

Speaker 4 (24:29):
This is nuts.

Speaker 5 (24:30):
Yeah, this is completely insane.

Speaker 4 (24:32):
These states were gonna say you can't sell a normal
car anymore in our state by twenty twenty thirty five,
ten years.

Speaker 7 (24:38):
This is going to go pretty fast. So Trump has
freed the auto market from this insanity. And it's it's
a big win. It's a big win for those of
us who don't necessarily want to drive an EV but
also don't want the climate change lunatics completely infringing on
markets and driving up the cost of everything for no reason.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
And look, and this is what Trump told us, and
we're not speaking out of turn on this story when
we were sitting talking with him.

Speaker 5 (25:06):
If you want to own an EV, go, more power
to you. Right.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
The market should dictate the choices that you make. The
state should not dictate the choices that you are forced
to make.

Speaker 4 (25:16):
Imagine California.

Speaker 7 (25:17):
And there was a time, Clay when I think this
was something they would have wanted to do. Imagine California said,
and it's going to make Clay very sad because I've
seen the cars that Clay has no SUV's allowed. Yeah,
we're going with an suv ban in this state. California
says you're not allowed to sell an suv in the
state of California. Remember for a while it was oh,
they're gas guzzling. Now SUVs have actually come very efficient

(25:39):
and they're hugely popular. It's like a giant part of
the US car sales mar car market. But you would
just say, well, that's a completely ridiculous intrusion on the
car market in a huge state. So Trump has again,
all he has done is restored choice to the consumer
and restore the ability of the auto market to be

(26:02):
a market instead of some kind of state enforced mandate
based on Green New Deal insanity. So it is a
really big win.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
It is totally And by the way, we should update
there are air raid sirens being going off in Israel
right now as there's an expectation that Iran has fired
some missiles in their direction. Updating you on what is
taking place there. It is now night in Israel, so
it's probably not a huge surprise that the attack would
come at night. We'll see if it's even as substantial

(26:32):
or Iran as capable buck of doing even as much
as they tried to do the last time when they
put what one hundred missiles in the air and Israel
and its allies effectively shot down all of those missiles
and there were no casualties.

Speaker 7 (26:46):
I think Israel first of all, I hope and prayer
that they're able to shoot down these missiles which are
just intended to Remember, the strikes at Israel did were
precise strikes at legitimate military targets. And what Iran is
going to do in response is I just want to
They're they're just trying to send a big missile that
goes boom into a crowded apartment building and kill as

(27:08):
many Jews as possible. That's what the Iranian response.

Speaker 4 (27:12):
Is supposed to be.

Speaker 7 (27:13):
Well, they always fight these wars, so I think that
the Israelis are going to have a ratcheted or a
tiered response, whereby every time Iran does something, these Raelies
are just going to raise the cost for Iran, and
then it's a question of how much more of this
do they want? You know Ben Shapiro's on this last hour,

(27:33):
He said, leaving the Molas alive gives them something to
think about. The Molas may not survive this thing. We'll
see what happens they they if they order a lot
of mass casualty, attempted mass casualty attacks on Israel. These
Raelis have mapped out that whole country and they have
total dominance in the skies.

Speaker 4 (27:53):
Uh. We'll see what ends up happening with.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
This, no doubt, And and and on that front. As
we wait to see what's going to happen, I will
say this about our visit to the White House. A
lot of you wanted to know if I was going
to be able to get in. The answer was yes.
I brought my passport yesterday or two days ago. I
don't have the real ID, and you have to have
a real ID or a passport, so I was able
to get in with my passport. I was struck buck

(28:18):
leave aside the politics of the current moment and many
of the topics that we discussed, the sheer, happy, warrior
dumb vibe that existed in the West Wing yesterday when
we visited with whether It's President Trump, jd Vance, Caroline Levitt, Margo,
Trump's top personal assistant Natalie, who follows him around everywhere.

(28:42):
It is a intensely positive environment there, and I think
it's because they know that they are doing the work
that the American people sent them there to do, and
they know how to do it, and.

Speaker 5 (28:55):
They are delivering.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
And Trump has a level of confidence in what is
required to do the job.

Speaker 5 (29:02):
That is next to a level. And let me just
echo this again.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
The Israelis consulted with the Trump team, and Trump went
out yesterday and threw an all time headfake saying that
the negotiations were still ongoing. Same thing happened with Pete
Hegseth went to a Washington Nationals game with his kids.
Obviously it's Father's Day weekend. You had Marco Rubio. This

(29:29):
was a masterclass, I think in subterfuge and the ability
to catch Iran unaware. And for Israel to have the
ability buck to actually have the Iranian schedule in person
meetings so they could directly attack because they are so
enmeshed in the Iranian security services, is really an incredible

(29:56):
strength of their attack.

Speaker 5 (29:57):
And let me just mention this too.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
Lot of people told you, some on the right, many
on the left, that if Israel attacked Iran, we're still
in the early stages, that this would basically be a
preset to World War III. I think you're now learning
Iran is not very strong. They lack the ability to
even defend their own country and China and Russia they're

(30:23):
not coming to the aid the other Middle Eastern countries.
Many of them welcome this, even if they say publicly
there's a difference between public and private conversations. They may
say publicly they don't like it. Privately they are very
welcoming even of this, And I think you're seeing that
a lot of the cataclysmic analysis, as often as the case,

(30:44):
was not reflected in reality.

Speaker 7 (30:47):
Yes, and this is on track to be one of
the most successful military operations in modern military history. So
we hope that that continues because it is to the
benefit of of everyone that we root for here that
that is the case, not just our friends an all
in Israel, and not just other Middle Eastern countries and

(31:09):
countries in the region that are very pleased to see
the Iranian threat cut down to size, but also for
the Iranian people. It weakens a regime that has been
nothing but a nightmare for them for fifty years now,
and it is long past time for there to be changed.

(31:29):
And there's no reason why Iran can't be something a
lot more along the lines of say Turkey, you know,
another country with a tremendously proud history and a really
rich past that functions as a I'm not saying Turkey's perfect.
We have our occasional gripes with them in NATO, but
it's a functioning, modern state and not one that keeps
anybody up at night in Israel, the United States, or

(31:52):
really around the region for that matter. So that I
think is what is possible here, and it's looking like
so far it's a very good As you said, there's
missiles in the air, and we don't know what the
Iranians are going to pull off with any reprisals, but
their military to military capability is deminimus. It's really the terror,

(32:15):
the terror strikes that we would have to be worried about,
or you know, terror cells that go operational, and we're
going to have to keep a close eye on that,
and it's very hard to fight against those.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
It's very hard to catch all of those, I should say,
But that.

Speaker 7 (32:26):
Can't change the reality of what just happened to Israel,
which is its military and nuclear program have been effectively decapitated.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
And I think this is so important for ordinary Iranians.
I thought it was interesting that Ben Shapiro told us
that they basically have tried to turn off the Internet
in Iran because they don't want people to understand what's
actually going on. But at some point, these conversations are
going to start, as they start anywhere in the world
when humans gather. Wait a minute, You've been in power

(32:55):
the Iatolas for two generations. You told us Israel was
the great evil. You told us that we were going
to eradicate Israel from the planet. And actually we don't
even have the ability to fight Israel. Leave aside the religion,
leave aside all these things, just pure efficacy of government.

(33:16):
Israel has created one of the great technological civilizations in
the history of the Middle East, and Iran has been
left behind. The Ayatolas are being embarrassed.

Speaker 7 (33:28):
There are early reports now direct of some direct hits
on Tel Aviv. So we don't know what the scale
of those hits are or what if there are any casualties.

Speaker 4 (33:37):
We don't know.

Speaker 7 (33:38):
We just know, Clay, right now as we're talking to you,
there are real time reports of impacts in Tel Aviv.
We're going to continue to watch this very closely.

Speaker 1 (33:46):
