Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox

Dan and Stan Patrick Show come on in stay a while.
A lot of topics to dive into. You can dialle
us up, email, tweet all the above. You can watch
and you can listen. You can watch on Peacock that's
our streaming partner all three hours. You can do it
(00:20):
for free, download their app, great app, and our radio
affiliates around the country come up with the poll question,
play of the day, stat of the day, all of
that forthcoming. The Niners quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo said yesterday that
he's ready to roll with the punches and help his
team this season. And I'm not sure what else he
can say, because the Niners traded up, traded a lot
(00:42):
to get that number three pick to take Trey Lance,
and Jimmy g is not alone. I started doing inventory
here with the quarterbacks, veteran quarterbacks in the same position,
Cam Newton with Mac Jones in New England, Andy Dalton
with Justin Fields in Chicago. And it's an interesting position here.
Remember last season with Ryan Fitzpatrick, he was playing well
(01:03):
and then all of a sudden, the team goes, we
got to find out if Tua can play, so they
take him out for Tua. Or you can go back
to the Giants when they pulled the future Hall of
Famer Kurt Warner to give a young Eli Manning a
shot at just the way the NFL goes. But what
if Garoppolo and the Niners are actually good this upcoming season.
(01:24):
They should be a lot of injuries and only two
years removed from a Super Bowl appearance here, but maybe
that's a dilemma of the Niners. Wouldn't mind facing Here
is Jimmy g talking about being able to be that
team player but also ready to battle for a starting role.
He's gonna come in here. I know it's gonna be
(01:44):
the competition between us like it was with me and
Tom and I get drifted to New England. But you know,
at the end of the day, all you could answer
is the opportunity. And so once they said he'll have
the opportunity to start this year and you know, fight
it out, I was all for it. I'm ready for
the Adian and that's what we're here for. I was
surprised to hear him on radio, but they congrats to
(02:06):
those shows who got Jimmy g But I thought he's
been pretty much radio silent through all of this. And
I don't think he's a big promoter of himself. I
don't think he's done too much nationally. Maybe locally he
has his show most quarterbacks do. I was surprised at
that Brett Fire, by the way, weighed in on the
Aaron Rodgers situation. And here is Brett Fire from his
(02:28):
podcast about Aaron Rodgers returning to Green Bay. And I
think I know him fairly well. If he has a grudge,
whether it be against the organization or a player, or
an art rival or family friends, he ain't budget. I
(02:48):
don't see him coming back and saying if this is
not resolved, however, whatever the issue is, if it's not resolved,
or even if it's resolved, but he feels like they
got it one up on him, he play. I like
how far snuck in family and friends because that has
(03:09):
been an issue with a Let's see are we two
girlfriends remove from Olivia Munn And I think that there
was an issue with him dating her, according to reports,
with his family and he kind of froze them out.
Welcome to the program here, Happy Sinco de Mayo by
the way, and yes, the Danetts spoiled little brats that
(03:30):
they are. They wanted to have some kind of food here.
I said, no Margarita's during the show, but we will
have some tacos. Yes, yeah, didn't you smell what was
you know? With Tyler was cooking today. I'm glad that
all of our stomping our feet yesterday and complaining about
it worked out for today. That was great. Yeah, yeah,
I heard you. I heard you a loud and clear.
(03:52):
We got the traggers fired up and we got some tacos.
I think that he's creating there. Yes, yes, Is it
May six the best day the year to go to
a Mexican restaurant? Yeah? Not busy. Yeah, the business like
May on March eighteenth is when you want to go
to an Irish pub. And then Fritzie goes, can we
have the beer Breis chicken tacos with halopenio relish? And
I said, yes you can, and that's what we'll have today,
(04:16):
Beer Breys chicken tacos with hal apeno relish. That will
be a little bit later on today eight seven seven
three d P show email on dressdp a dan Patrick
dot com Twitter handle at DP show Adam Schefter as
a podcast, and I was curious if he knew who
leaked this story about Aaron Rodgers, because when I first
(04:36):
heard it, I go, Okay, did Rogers say this? And
the fact that you know, CHEFTI is not saying who
leaked it, but he it was leaked to him. Wouldn't
that be easy to find out who leaked this to me?
You would just go, oh, it's the person who told
me that Aaron, uh, you know, he wants to be traded,
(04:57):
that he can't stay in Green Bay. But do the
Packers gain anything by leaking this? Does Rogers come off
as petty by leaking this? Can the Packers then make
Rogers seem like the bad guy? Here? Are they trying
to curry favor public sentiment? I'm just wondering that, And
(05:18):
you know, Cheft, he's kind of looking at both sides here,
and I'll play the cut for you when we get that.
But you know, I would think Aaron Rodgers or somebody
close to Aaron Rodgers is going to put this out there.
The Packers reportedly are very upset that this got out there,
sort of like the Seattle Seahawks were when Russell Wilson
(05:40):
said what he said, but we know Russ was the
source of that. We don't know that with Aaron Rodgers,
and I think it's just kind of status quo here
until Rogers comes on a show or says something publicly,
says something in a press release. Fritzie call for Aaron Rodgers.
Oh you have okay, thank you, Todd. We're joking, but
(06:02):
I got I got a very nice note pretty quickly saying,
you know, so noted as far as we're aware of that,
You're okay. We did get a reaction, was it? It's
so noted or duly noted. I think it was so
noted with like an exclamation point, like you know, enthusiastically
when the time is right. But who did you who'd
you ask the packers? No? Oh, okay, okay, that would
(06:24):
be a representation. Did you ask the packers if we
could have somebody from the organization? We requested the head
coach and mister goodakoots okay, the GM okay, yeah. Point.
If you're Rogers, though, you can't do an interview unless
you know your direction, because if he goes on with
you or whoever may be, you're gonna say, will you
will you be a packer next year? What would it
(06:45):
take to be all the questions you're gonna ask? And
unless he has that declarative statement ready, he can't do it.
I'm guessing he knows what he wants, because we've gotten
to this stage. This is this has been an open secret.
I mentioned yesterday or the day before, back in January.
The Rams knew that Rogers could be available. That's why
(07:09):
they first knocked on that door and said, hey, hello,
Aaron Rodgers, we opened for business. No. Then they traded
for Matthew Stafford. San Francisco knew. I think there were
teams who knew because they had friends in the packers
organization who probably said, hey, you can give him a call.
(07:31):
But the packers have shut down those calls, and the
RAMS went after Matthew Stafford after they couldn't get Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, Mclub,
you know, about six weeks ago you came in and
said something's going on in Green Bay. You said, I
don't know exactly. You didn't want to label the report completely,
but so you had a whiff of something big. I
had a source who said, it's laughable to think that
(07:52):
he'll be there in Green Bay after this next season,
and I couldn't get any confirmation from anybody, and and
so I was like, okay, and my source, you know,
then resurface to say, you know, there's a whole lot
going on here, and you know it's a source who
helped me with Russell Wilson. I said, is it similar
(08:13):
to Russell Wilson? He goes, no, this is bad, Like
this is a bad situation for everybody here. You know,
is Rodgers gonna do a power move and get himself
out of there? You know, what are the Packers get
in return? Can you trade Aaron Rodgers? Do you want
to be the GM who traded Aaron Rodd? Like there's
so much going on now and the and the problem
(08:36):
I think is is you don't have any real clarity
from either side. I mean, the clarity from the Packers
is we're not trading him. We need to have an
understanding what Aaron Rodd. I think Aaron Rodgers owes that
to the situation. I give you one out, then ask out,
but it sort of lingers there, and I don't think
(08:56):
it's beneficial to anybody here. It's like when Deshaun Watson
was saying, I'm not going back to Houston and I'm
not going to play there anymore. And then we started
to go, Okay, so where are you going? And then
we started to speculate. Then he had his legal issues
and it stopped. But that doesn't mean it's still not there. Like,
there are teams. There's two teams right now, I'm told
(09:18):
who are just sort of letting like they're monitoring this
closely with DeShawn Watson. They just want to know, like,
is there an opening and can you get through that
PR hit that you're going to take. If Deshaun Watson
is not chart criminal charges, even civil charges, teams will
(09:38):
probably try to motor through that, push that through, you know,
take the PR hit and then move forward. You know,
Deshaun has said that he's a changed person or whatever.
If he's found guilty in these civil lawsuits, whatever it is,
the spin will be there because Watson is so good. Now,
what do you do with Aaron Rodgers? What can you
get for Aaron Rodgers? Who wants Aaron Rodgers right now?
(10:01):
And I think those are key questions here, But until
I hear from Aaron Rodgers sources close to that doesn't
really register with me. I want to know what Rogers
is feeling right now what he's thinking right now? Yeah, Paul,
going back to Deshaun Watson right now, if you ran
the Texans, wouldn't you lean towards trading him if you
(10:22):
could find one strong offer That franchise is going nowhere?
They have very little talent on the roster. Hit the
reset button in every sense of the word. And I
don't think the fans would hit it too much now
if you did it before the allegations. You've been crushed
to let him go. But I was told yesterday, as
strange as this is going to sound, with Deshaun Watson, hey,
(10:42):
if you're the Texans, you might be able to now
keep him because he knows that he would be damaged
goods and the Texans won't take a pr hit. They're
just standing behind their player. We truly believe in him,
and so the Texans could actually benefit here whether this
happens or not. And once again, you know, you get
(11:03):
a lot of information, and I always try to find
if somebody else can back up something, you know, And
that's why with Rodgers. Rob Demoski has covered the Packers
for a couple of decades now. He was there when
Farv was there and when he said, look less than
five percent that Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback for
the Packers, I'll believe it when I see it, because
(11:23):
Rogers nose and the Packers no. This is the best
chance for him to win a Super Bowl. You're not
winning one in Denver, You're not going to win one
with the Raiders. You still have a chance to go
back to the NFC title game. You have a good
team and I think they had a pretty good draft
by all accounts. Can you can you move past this?
(11:44):
And I think that's going to be based off of
Aaron's personality. Can he get past this? Is he going
to hold a grudge? Are they going to give him
a contract extension? Because if you do, how long are
you tied into Aaron Rodgers? What's that mean for Jordan Love?
Do you eventually say we made a mistake. We bet
against Aaron Rodgers, we drafted his successor, and Jordan Love
(12:06):
is the third string quarterback right now? Not ready to play? Yeah? Play.
Hackers are fourth in Vegas odds for the Super Bowl
next year. The Denver Broccos a week ago were eighth
from the bottom, but they moved up significantly off off
(12:26):
the of the quarterback. Yeah, I think their odds are
like a third or fourth to get Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, mclovin.
Doesn't it seem now that Tom Brady was forty three
right when he won the Super Bowl? Now people view
the age a little differently. Maybe it's just fans view,
but like, I'm like, signed Rogers for four more years.
But I don't know if like he's wired differently than Brady.
(12:49):
This is all Brady wants to do. He just wants
to play football. Aaron Rodgers, it feels like, as we've
seen with Jeopardy, he strikes me as somebody who's going
to be in balled in Hollywood some way, movies, documentary something.
I don't know. I just I don't think he's one
of those guys that it is defined by football. I
(13:10):
just think he's great at football. Yeah. And yeah, like
you never heard Tom Brady say like if it doesn't
work out with the Patriots, I'm retiring. You know, he
was like, I'm playing, I'm gonna play somewhere else then
forget it. But you know, Aaron Rodgers doesn't seem to
be cut from that same cloth tom Brady was willing
to play for the Bears. That'll give you an idea.
He just wanted to play football. So it was the Chargers, Bears,
(13:30):
and Buccaneers. Those were the three teams interested in Tom. Yeah, mclub. Yeah.
But the guy who says that he's not he doesn't
need football, that's a guy who always waffled around till
he's forty two. Like Farve started retiring when he was
thirty five and played till he was forty. I don't
feel it, but but but Farve was like sugar Ready Leonard,
sugar Ray. Leonard retired six times. I was at his
first one in Baltimore, and he kept retiring. Farve is
(13:54):
like the boxer who who just can't retire because what
are you gonna do? You're gonna throw passes to Jerry
Rice in the backyard for a TV commercial, like you.
Once it's gone, it's gone, and then you look around
and you go, oh my god, boy, this was my life.
Aaron Rodgers strikes me as I'm I'm entering a new
(14:17):
world here, getting married, you have kids, priorities, it changes.
Does he want to continue to play football? He just
strikes me as he's just different. Yeah. Point That's the
one thing I think normal people, I guess you'd call us,
can't understand about athletes. Chris Webber, remember the great basketball player.
He retired at thirty four years old. That's a young man.
(14:38):
And you know he was not like injuries, It wasn't concussions.
It was just there, my career is done thirty four.
You probout just getting started with the good days of
their career. Damn, when you were thirty four, you were
hitting your stride as a sports center host, you were
on the upswing. These guys are wrapping things up at
thirty five, thirty six, but they're doing something physically that
they've done for twenty years. And it's like Bjorn Borg
(15:01):
at twenty six. He walked away twenty six and he
was still winning Wimbledon. It's Bjorn Borg is like Jim Brown.
Jim Brown walked away. I think he led the league
in rushing and he retired. I think I think he
ran for like eighteen hundred yards and he decided he was, Hey,
(15:23):
I'm done with this. I'm gonna go make movies. Certain
guys they're just wired differently. Barry Sanders wired differently. The
guy who has to compete. I'm defined by this. You
know Andrew Luck wired differently. I think Aaron Rodgers and
Andrew Luck are wired in a similar way. Oh good wiring.
Thank you, Thank you Andrew. By the way, this program

rEFInd your prime with M drive. What's the poll question
you have for me today? McLevin Okay, got a few
options off the Jimmy g quote about how he's going
to help Trey Lance in San Francisco. Honest answer, if
(16:09):
you're a veteran quarterback, do you help the rookie? Yes
or no? Like help the rookie. I'm going to hold
off on my answer all way to after the commercial break,
we'll talk about that. What else do you have? Okay,
I have a choice either an NBA one or a Astros.
The Astros pole will probably get some juicy response, a
(16:30):
little payback, little payback time for the Astros last night.
Just a little payback because it's nobody got suspended. You know,
nobody lost anything, you know with the Astros, nobody lost
their World Series rings, nothing. So you have a couple
of guys who were still with the team who were
cheaters back in twenty seventeen. So they faced the music
(16:51):
last night at Yankee Stadium, and this is what it
sounded like. That would be the F word, n L
two fe. I just think it's nice that Yankees fans
(17:11):
censored themselves like that, and they did in the stadium
that because you know, just a little decorum that was,
you know, and is the Afford is not his first name, right,
That's not his actual first name. It seems like it
is these days. Yeah, yes to if you're al two
met do you grin? Do you pretend you don't hear
it when it's obvious that you certainly hear it? Like,
what do you do when you get up to the
(17:32):
plate they're screaming that. I would say, hit a home
run like that, that would be the best way to
go about it. Hit a home run. It was entertaining
last night. There's only ten thousand fans there. Michael Kay,
the Yankee broadcaster, will join us coming up a little
bit later on. We'll talk about that atmosphere there last night,
and Dusty Baker's just got to stop the manager of
(17:55):
the Astros. We know, Dusty, you weren't there. We know
most of the players who were on the team now
were there. Just don't address it, all right, take it,
take take the heat. It's not you, it's your players.
Take the bullets. Move on. You're okay. If the worst
case scenario is, hey, they're saying mean things about our
(18:15):
team even though we got away with cheating, all right,
I would just shut up and just manage a baseball game.
Don't go into each city and you know, try to
do a pre emptive strike of like, hey, you know
there's only a couple of players that they're still left here. Yeah,
we know that, but but the main culprits are there.
Bragman Correa al twove Yes, al Twoba is doing themself
(18:42):
no favors that twenty seventeen season where they're proven to
be cheating. He hit three forty six twenty four homers.
He was the MVP in the past two seasons combined,
He's hitting about two twenty seven, almost no power, no
on base percentage. We'll take a break, We'll settle on
a pull question. I'll bring you a clip from that
Schefter's podcast on Rogers or the packers who leaked this information.
(19:05):
We'll talk about the payback tour for the astros. We
need to come up with like some kind of you know,
this is what I was thinking. Could we make a
garbage can cuzy that you could take in like you
could put it there when you walk in to your
stadium and you and you put your beer in it.
(19:25):
It's just it looks like a garbage can. It's a couzy.
What do you think, gold Satan, what do you think?
Love it? All right, we'll get We'll get the assembly
line fired up here, Tyler, Yeah, Tyler, get get working
on that. By the way, new t shirts love the
Chicago Bears related T shirt there on the website. Coming
up on twenty one after the hour. It's called Soldier Fields.
(19:50):
Soldier Fields. Yeah, look sharp too. All right, we'll take
a break. We're back after this and the Dan Patrick Show.

eastern six to nine Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, and
you can find us on the iHeartRadio app at FSR,
or stream us live on the Peacock app. We'll settle
on a poll question. If you're watching on Peacock. We
were just showing a gender reveal. You know, they had
those in the backyard. There was the wife was gonna
(20:57):
she was throwing whiffleballs to her husband, and then he
was supposed to hit one. It was filled with powder
and it would either be blue or pink. Well, the
guy he's a modern day baseball player, because he kept
swinging and missing, so we didn't we don't know what
the gender reveal was The other one was a guy
had a football and he was going to kick it
(21:18):
and then he was going it was going to explode.
It was either going to be blue or pink. And
he has flip flops on. He takes one of the
flip flops off, but his plant foot he's does the
flip flop on. He's got a beer in his hand.
Let's guess what happens after this. Yes, he kicks the football,
it explodes and he slips on the wet grass, snaps
(21:42):
his hank. Why why do I laughing? Just because like,
there's nothing wrong with just saying, hey, we're having a girl.
No these days, that doesn't do anything like guy, I
don't need a paratrooper coming in. I don't need, you know,
(22:02):
a band. I'm okay with if you want to do
something like that, But I just don't want somebody to get,
you know, impaled. Yes, I don't even care if you're
having a boy or a girl. I've never asked a
friend a is it a boy or a girl? I
could care less. Has anybody been to a gender revealed party? No? Well,
probably too old aged out. Yeah, maybe it could be.
(22:24):
There is no way in the world my wife would
ever sign up for them. Never. Hey, let's go all
go in the backyard and I'm gonna throw some whiffle
balls to Dan and then he's gonna swing and we're
gonna tell you what we're having. We're gonna get a
radio mike, okay, and then we're gonna set up a camera, right,
(22:45):
and then you smash the radio mic and that's how
I'll find out because you have it has to be
personalized to you. Oh okay, okay, yeah, yeah, because you're
a broadcaster, right, and then the microphone explodes and it's
blue and it's a boy. I'm gonna love it. Yes, Polly.
I found a video. It was a family like in
a country hillside home and they had the gender reveal
like a like a pinnata or something, and everyone in
(23:06):
the family has a stick and they're running down to
you could hit it first. Well, Unfortunately, Grandpa was like
eighty seven years old and running down a hill unbalanced
with a stick didn't work out so well. He tumbles
about four times and then he showed the end of
the video. The local paramedics had to show up. Grandma
didn't work out so well. He's alive and well, but
but there have been some tragic accidents here forest fires. Yes,
(23:29):
people who have died with gender reveals. I mean imagine that. Hey,
make sure you show up tomorrow. We're gonna tell you
what we're having. We're having a boy, and we got
a plan for a funeral as well. Like how crazy
is that? Yeah? Pulling The better ones that you could
see now is when the dad find out it's a
(23:50):
girl and he's upset. He takes like the whiffleball baggers
got hang it and they get caught. Then Gordon Hayward
basketball player, Oh yeah, they had a gender reveal. You
look like he just lost his puppy and he was
having another girl. I think now what it was MiG loving. Yeah.
But by the way, I have two girls. I don't
know why anyone would want a little boy. Those they're terrors.
(24:14):
It's at the new pole. Would you rather have a
boy or a girl? I don't. I got three girls
and a boy. So and the girls are better, right,
I mean, let's you could be honest now, I mean, well,
you're girls and Paulie's girls. They're fine. Now, it's when
they get to be around fourteen fifteen, when you're the
(24:35):
dumbest person in the room and they give you that
look of oh god, you're embarrassing me. Yeah. See. There
is nothing that explains the state of the world better though,
than being at a playground and watching little boys play
and little girls play and understanding why everything is so
screwed up. The little girls are just like hanging out
playing with each other nicely, like oh look at yeah,
(24:55):
this is nice, and they're like doing some quiet game.
Little boys are smashing themselves over the head rocks for
no reason, like, kid, what are you doing? Yeah, Paul,
you can find a ton of video out there of
like boys finding things and just like set and said,
smacking each other and laughing, laughing. Then the girls are
in the corner, just pointing and looking. Yes, you may
(25:16):
have said this was what ard. Girls less likely to
abandon you as you. Girls stay with you the rest
of their lives, as you were, like you're with your
health or whatever is happening with you. They're going to
stay by your side. Boys leave, yes, they do. Girls
don't leave. At least my girls are not allowed to leave.
They're not allowed to get married. They're gonna stay in
the house the rest of their lives. That's just the
(25:37):
way it's gonna work. I'm just kidding. Yes, my girls
are going to be the exception. When they become teenagers,
I'm going to become their best friend. Yeah, it doesn't
work that way. And it turned overnight, right, Yes, yes
you will. It's like, wait, you got makeup on? Wait?
Do you don't want to hang out here? Wait? Wait
(25:58):
what I just said is stupid? Yeah, Paul, my oldest
daughter is twelve and a half. I'm on the cusp.
I've actually I think and I think some dad's around
the country. Well understand, this pandemic has almost given me
like a hall pass because they're not allowed to socialize
with their sixth grade friends, not allowed to spend time together.
It's almost like Adolette's is on pause because they didn't
get to spend any time with their friends this year.
(26:20):
But it feels like it's moments away. She's twelve and
a half. Adam Schefter had his podcast and he was
talking about Aaron Rodgers and the Packers' role in this,
and this is what he had to say about how
this information got out. Clearly, this is an issue that's
gone on for weeks. To me, frankly, it's amazing that
it's gone on as long as it has. And there
(26:42):
are people who said, oh, Aaron Rodgers wanted this story
out the Thursday before the draft. Let me tell you, so,
Aaron Rodgers had nothing to do with this story coming
out the Thursday before the draft. Not only did he
have nothing to do with this story coming out the
Thursday before the draft, but my understanding is he was
none too pleased about the story coming out because all
it did was shine a light on the relationship between
(27:05):
the two sides, which is at best strained right now.
But Aaron Rodgers didn't want this coming out. And guess what,
the Greenback Packers didn't want it coming out. There are
people who think the packers planted it. Bologney, Okay, so
who wanted this to come out? Chefty? It's somebody. Nobody's
(27:26):
interviewing Chefty with his podcast, So you can't ask him questions,
right because I would say, well, who wants this to
come out? That would be my one question for Adam. Yes, boy,
I totally thought that was Frank Kelly endo when I
was listening. It seems strained. It's been no secret. Everybody
(27:46):
knew this. From what I'm told, Aaron did not like this,
did that want the rumor leaked? That sounded a little
Jim Roe is morphing and Jim Row Oh terrible, Yes, Levin.
So it's not Rogers. It's not the Packers that leaves
(28:07):
the agent or another team or agent can't put that
out okay because that's Rodgers. Yeah, that's like an extensive
Rogers another team. Well, that's the only thing I thought,
after all of this is played out, Okay, somebody who
knew about this and then the motivation. That's what I
want to know. Cheft, he's not going to tell you
(28:29):
who leaked it. I want to know why it was leaked.
That that's he doesn't have to tell me the source.
He doesn't have to tell me anything. But that's what
I would ask him, is who would want this out there?
If the Packers don't and Rodgers didn't, then is there
a team? Is there another team that put this out there?
(28:50):
Would it be the Vikings, Would it be the Broncos
who want him? Would it be the Bears, Would it
be the Lions in the division, would it be the Raiders?
I don't know, but that's what I would want to
know in this situation like this poll question, what do
you have for me? Okay, I have a couple options here.
Start with the Astros. Yankees. Do you, as of now
(29:10):
view the twenty seventeen Astros as a legitimate world champion? Yes?
Or no? That's simple no, but baseball does. This isn't
like college college, they'll take down your banners, I mean asterisk,
but with the Astros, nobody's taken away they're banners. Nobody's saying, hey,
(29:30):
you guys can keep your rings, but we're going to vacate.
It's gonna say vacated. And you know, the commissioner came
out and said, it's just basically a hunk of metal.
You know this trophy here, which was a stupid comment
to make, but you will. You wanted to get information here,
(29:51):
and you gave them immunity. That's what you got in
return for this. Hey, we got the story and nobody
got punished here except for a GM got fired and
a manager got fired. Yes, ton, how much do you
or should you celebrate it if you're the Astros organization,
Like when they have those reunions ten years, let's bring
back those twenty seventeen world champion Astros? Do you do
(30:13):
stuff like that? You just kind of we want in
twenty seventeen, and let's not speak of it. Well, what
would you do? You're an Astros fan. I think they
should move on in great They got the banner up there,
you know, hanging down from Minnie May Park, and that's
the extent to that. Do you consider them champs in
twenty seventeen? I considered them less than champs less. I'm
more on the side of the asterisk as opposed to
(30:34):
a hard. They had no business being world champion. That's
a little hard. Here's Justin Baker, the Astros manager. Nothing surprised,
you know, at least there wasn't any violence. You know,
they can they can say whatever they want. And you know,
it sounds like a packed house and I didn't even
know it wasn't. And uh, you know, we kind of
(30:55):
accept it. I mean we kind of expected that, you know, reception,
and so we'll probably getting more of the same tomorrow
the next day. Here's Giancarlos stant new homeward last night,
and you're experienced, Carlo, you're a veteran. Have you ever
heard something like that? Oh no, no, no, that was
that was intense. You know, I wouldn't I wouldn't want
(31:18):
to be on the other side of that. So um, yeah, yeah,
they brought something heavy. Can you think of a player
who was beloved? We loved this story. The little guy
makes good Jose Altuve. Have him at second base with
Aaron Judge and you'd show the height disparity and we're like, God,
(31:40):
that guy is great. Covers Sports Illustrated MVP Face of
the Team clutch back in twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen.
Hasn't done much since then the last two years, but
(32:01):
he's the face of the team. You know, Springer left
like Garrett Cole left. He's with the Yankees. That's another thing.
Did the pitchers think anything was strange here? Like, let
let's just have some reasoning here. How much some comments sense?
You just say, you're a pitcher, you're in the dugout,
(32:23):
not your day to start, and you're hearing bang bang bang,
and then all of a sudden somebody homers huh. Okay,
well it's nice. It's good to see Verlander got some
run support there. Bang bang bang, double off the wall. Okay,
(32:44):
so nobody knew anything. Nobody saw anything except for the
person who was the whistleblower. Is a picture a relief pitcher,
Mike Fires, he's the one who's ostracized with is. Yes, like,
you can't there's a lot of things, you know, but
you can't be a narc. You can't be telling people
what happens in the locker room. And that's what Mike
(33:06):
Fires did. Yeah. See, well yeah, I mean, if you
were a starting pitcher for the Estros, would you have
a problem with it? No, you wouldn't. Ye probably, But
nobody ever brought this up, I don't think and said, hey,
how did you not know this was going on? Seeing
no evil here? I have no idea. I'm just a pitcher.
I don't know. It was just poorly handled baseball. It
(33:29):
was poorly handled. And I know that they wanted, you know,
all this testimony and hey, I'll talk to you, but
I want immunity here, all right. I would have said,
if I'm the commissioner, look, I'm going to vacate that title.
I'm not gonna find you or punish you individually if
(33:49):
you give me information here, but you will be punished
as a team because this was a team effort. And
how far up it went in the food chain in
the Astros. I don't know, I know the GM and
the manager got fired, but I would have vacated. And
I know you don't want to get into this because
then you're like, Okay, what Warren's vacating something. This was
(34:13):
a horrible moment for baseball, an embarrassing moment for baseball,
and nobody paid any price. Here. You get yelled at
if I'm Altuve, and the worst case scenario is I
get yelled at. They go bleep, bleep, you bleep Altuve?
You gone off? Okay, yeah, mclub if you were going
(34:34):
to vacate, wouldn't you I know, the Giants never won
a World Series, would bury Bonds, But like, couldn't you
argue that that team deserves some vacating or something if
you know they got to Game seven? I think it's Angels. Well,
I can go back to Alex Rodriguez was cheating when
the Yankees won a World Series. But this was a
systemic situation. This was the organizational cheating. That's why I
(34:59):
have to take weigh that title. It's not an individual
like steroids. Let's say you had the Texas Rangers with
all of their steroid users. Let's say they found a
way to beat the test and front office was involved
in this. If they happen to win anything, then I
think you have to look at that, like, what is
(35:20):
the punishment kept all your money all right, didn't get suspended,
didn't get fined. All they're gonna say mean things about you. Okay,
nobody's given any money away back, nobody's given away the
title back Baseball Baseball whift on this, and then for
the commissioner to say that the World Series Trophy is
(35:42):
basically a piece of metal. Rob did not not one
of his finest hours. Yes, if you go back, oh sorry,
if you go back to November of twenty nineteen, Fires
was just doing a general interview with the Athletic It
was like an all baseball interview and they got into,
you know, stealing signs of stuff like that, and he
just said, yeah, I warned some of my teammates, and
the story came out and the next day the Astros
(36:04):
and MLB responded. But this story probably goes away forever
without that. Yeah, MC club did he? I think the
world champion Red Sox got busted for signs ceiling too.
So you're also opening with a smart watch, so you're
opening a Pandora's boxing I mean, you'd have to vacate that.
I know, I know it's if you go down the
rabbit hole, but if I have an organizational situation here.
(36:26):
But but there's no deterrent, Like what's the deterrent to cheat? None?
I've said, like Robinson Canoe should not even be in baseball.
If you get popped twice, get him out of here once. Okay,
maybe my a sample might be sample all that nonsense.
You get popped twice, get out of here. But there's
(36:48):
no deterrent. Remember with baseball when they first started this nonsense,
Donald Fear, the head of the Players Association, he protected
all the cheaters because he said, well only five percent cheat.
It wasn't the case, so he's protecting them. And what
did they do to salaries because their numbers were based
(37:10):
off of previous generation. Well, if Mickey Mantle did this
and this guy did this, my god, he's worth this.

(38:16):
This is the play on the day. Check this out,
bitch swung on there it goes deep bluff veal, black balls,
high hit us far he us God a Stantonian home run,
Hi drive to left and into the seats for a
Yankee lead Sean Carlo or no SI post to Carlo
(38:42):
ug Stanton now is seven homers in twenty twenty one.
That's the same total he had in the previous two
seasons combined. He played in forty one games the last
two seasons. Courtesy of w FAM, the Yankees or Radio Network.
One of the Yankee broadcasters, Michael Okay, we'll join us
coming up in the final hour of the show eight
(39:03):
seven seven three d P show email ADDRESSDP at Dan
Patrick dot com Twitter handle a DP show saw where
the Jags will sign Tim Tebow as a tight end,
or at least that is the report, the son of
the owner, Shod Khan, Tony Khan, told Bleacher Report yesterday
at reunion between Tebow and head coach Urban Meyer could
(39:26):
be imminent. Tim has definitely come in and worked out,
according to Tony Khan. So beyond that, I can't say
too much, but Tim has come in and worked out
as a tight end. Not a position that we've seen
him play, but it's a position that he's been practicing
at with us. All Right, Well, they're gonna win the
(39:50):
SEC this year? Do you think so? They are locked
or the AC. But this is what's going to happen.
I think urban Meyer, do Tim as solid, bring him
in and ask him to tutor mentor Trevor Lawrence as well.
(40:11):
At what at quarterback. What religious I don't know, but
Tim may not be able to do it, but he knows.
He's been around all these organizations, and I think he
might be able. This is what I thought Alex Smith
was going to be doing. I mean, although Tebow's been
a met for the last four years in the minor leagues.
But I think that's probably what you would get, is
(40:32):
you would do him a solid, he'd have a roster
spot and maybe he would be sort of a player coach. Yes, Bobby.
If I'm a Jaguars fan, I see a headline in
the local paper that Tim Tebow is tutoring our new
first round franchise quarterback and how to play quarterback. I'm
freaking out. Tim is non traditional in every sense. Yeah,
(40:53):
that's a wild story. Mcleven, you got a pull question? Okay,
I did put up? Do you consider the Astros two
thousand and seventy Astros a legit champion? Sixty one? Say no?
I have a Yannis poll question thought question. I can
save it though. All I'm just asking Yannis beat the
nets again last night. Is he underrated, overrated or properly rated?
(41:16):
The reason I ask is nobody's taking them seriously because
they keep losing the playoffs, but the Bucks how came
the Bucks aren't a title shot. I don't quite understand
where to put your honest Well, this is where they
need to be an underdog because when they're they're not
good at being the favorite. But you know you've been
the favorites the last two years. This is the Bucks
(41:36):
are the third Eastern Conference team to clinch a playoff
berth Philly and Brooklyn have clinched and I don't know
what to expect with the Nets. You are hearing what
I said. I was going to be the first person
to plant my flag on this that you know the
Nets don't win because they haven't been able to play together.
I think they played eight games together now, and what
makes everybody think that they magically will turn on a
(41:58):
light switch and gop, we're gonna win. You're gonna have
to win over twenty games to be able to win
a championship. Are they gonna be able to stay healthy?
And what would make you think the Nets are going
to stay healthy? I think the seven games, eight games together,
that's it. And now it's going to be playoff basketball.
(42:22):
These are going to be back to back games these
are gonna be intense games. These aren't Hey, load management here.
I wouldn't have any confidence in the nets right now.
And you can win with two, but you gotta make
sure you got guys who are healthy. Yeah, McLevin. Yeah,
I was gonna ask, do you need Harden or do
you need Kyrie? You can't do the guys get it done.
(42:45):
I would think that you could do it with Kyrie
and Durant, but Harden has missed close to twenty games
yes time and with the Bucks regimal. Just that the
other day they're much better being the hunted as opposed
to the hunter. Yeah. More phone calls coming up next
hour seven seven three d P show. Got our poll question.
I meant that the other way. By the way, they're
much better hunting. It's okay, I screwed that up. Yeah, sorry,
(43:08):
