loyal listeners. I did have somebody come up and say
(01:09):
thank God for Marvin, and I go and and he goes.
That's it, thank God for Marvin. So Marvin, you have
one big fan in Cincinnati.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
That's more than none.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Yes, thank you, Congratulations, Congratulations. Stat of the Day brought
to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of
the Dan Patrick Show. Our good buddy, Ross Tucker. He
was working the Dolphins game against the Patriots last night.
He'll join us coming up. Colorado still the talk of
the town, not just college football, but football in general.
(01:42):
Came back to beat Colorado State in double overtime, and
they will not be fully assembled when they meet Oregon
next weekend. Travis Hunter, their star player, got injured and
likely out for a couple of weeks. The NFL, the
two and O teams Falcons, Ravens, Bucks, forty nine, Ers,
Cowboys and Dolphins, and of course a double header tonight Saints, Panthers,
(02:02):
Brown's and the Steelers. Say good morning to our radio affiliates,
numbering nearly four hundred cities around America that carry the program. iHeartRadio,
Fox Sports Radio. Pull question seat and what are we
gonna go with or attempt to go with?
Speaker 4 (02:17):
In the first hour.
Speaker 5 (02:18):
Well, Dan, we could go with who had let's it's Monday, okay,
so we start negative, who had the worst weekend?
Speaker 4 (02:26):
We could sort of populate this a little bit.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
Bengals did not have a good weekend, lost again, Joe
Burrow reaggurates his calf injury.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Not ideal.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
Chargers here we go again. Kind of feel there, huh yeah, yep.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
They are the first hot seat situation that we're talking
about this this year.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
You know, it's kind of like when you turn on
the heater if you have heated seats in your car.
It takes a little while and then all of a
sudden it gets up warm real quickly, and then you're like, whoa,
that's what it feels like. It's like maybe the temperature
just putting it on and then all of a sudden
is going to heat up a little bit. Here and
Chargers are in Minnesota next week, and I believe we
(03:14):
know the stat of teams that are zero to two
and the chances of making the playoffs. The Bengals did
that last year. But you know, the Chargers aren't out
of it because of the division. Kansas City is one
in one. Denver's not good. The Raiders are one in one.
The Chargers are competitive, They're going to be in all
these games. They have a very good offense. My problem
(03:36):
is they don't have a clutch offense. When you have
an opportunity in the fourth quarter or overtime to do something,
they don't do that. Now, that's coaching and that's quarterbacking.
You have to have that person who can make a
play or you call the right play, and they haven't
had that so far.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
Who else is on the last seaton?
Speaker 5 (03:55):
The Jets did not have a good weekend, although they
had such a worse weekend theekend before that.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
I just don't understand the game plan here because you
have Zach Wilson. He's been thrust into the lineup now,
and I thought, you have two good running backs. How
about you run the ball, maybe neutralize Micah Parsons and
that front four. You ran the ball eleven times. Whatever
(04:23):
you got from Zach Wilson you deserved. Because you let
them just tee off and three interceptions, they're going to
put pressure on you. How about we just do little
screen passes and we run the football and you're supposed
to have a really good defense too. I think a
lot of those guys were chirping start of the season,
how great that defense was. Well, you needed to show
(04:46):
up as well, and you didn't. I'm not going to
put all this on Zack Wilson. I think he is
who he is. But let me take away some of
those chants plays here. Let me let him get a
little confident. Not you know Michah Parsons. He'll be seeing
Micah Parsons in his sleep this week. But I was
disappointed with the game plan there. I didn't think they
(05:08):
were going to win. But how about we just neutralize
Micah Parsons run the ball?
Speaker 4 (05:13):
And they didn't.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
You can't get in a shootout against that defense. Not
in Dallas. What else?
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Seaton Uh, Alabama Crimson Tide. Not a good weekend. That
is not going according to plan.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
I don't think remember when it didn't matter who was
the quarterback at Alabama. We're sort of in that mode
that it doesn't matter who it is, but it does
matter because they're not as good as they used to
be and you can't find your quarterback. And when you
have three quarterbacks, then you don't have one quarterback and
that is an issue. I know weather was an issue
(05:47):
South Florida. But seventeen to three and you're just going, okay,
is what is more real? Colorado's success or Alabama's struggles
At the the end of the year, Will Colorado be
more successful than alabama struggles or the other way around,
because right now it feels like Colorado feels real and
(06:11):
Alabama feels real not being a real threat. But Colorado
what we saw. I mean, they're supposed to win. They
struggled to win, and nobody wants to Everybody wants to
throw the verbal bouquets towards Dion and Colorado.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
It's a wonderful story.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
But you're supposed to win by twenty four, you're favored
by twenty four. You need a double overtime and give
credit to Colorado State. Here's Dion talking about Colorado State's performance.
Speaker 6 (06:41):
You know, I could be petty they petty, But I
ain't got time for that, man, I'm own some bigger things. Hey,
I'm happy for the brother, I really am.
Speaker 7 (06:48):
Man.
Speaker 6 (06:48):
I'm happy that they fault did they played the good game.
I'm happy he's a head coach. I'm happy for any
brother that's doing it in successful.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
Man, I truly am.
Speaker 6 (06:57):
I don't I don't know where all this stuff comes.
I have to respond because you know it's my mama
told me that, you know, you know, he just ain't
gonna take me. And I'm gonna sit back and ain't
gonna say nothing. But I'm happy for that dude. Man,
I don't know him that I'm happy for him. I
wish the best for him, I really do. My success
ain't got nothing to do with it, is so why
would I want him to succeed? I don't know how
(07:18):
people get down like that. My blessings ain't got none
to do with his blessed.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
There's Dion, his son certainly performed at a very high level.
And now they go to Oregon.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
Do we know what the point spread is with Oregon
and Colorado? Has that come out yet?
Speaker 2 (07:34):
I'm assuming if we already had a number when the
season started.
Speaker 8 (07:38):
Yeah, PAULI I got you know, I'm gonna check this.
I want to make sure this is right. Hold on,
I'm gonna hold it for a second.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
Yes, Ton, could you argue.
Speaker 9 (07:44):
That what Colorado did was more impressive than if they
would have won like thirty thirteen?
Speaker 7 (07:49):
The were they all hung in there and came back.
Is there an augent to be made.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
For Yeah, you know, I mean to go ninety eight
yards two minutes. Yeah, that was impressive. And I know
you could look at Colorado State and then you know,
they had a fourth down in two at what the
forty seven yard line, but they punted the ball down
to the two.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
And I was fine with that strategy.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
I was fine because if you don't, if you don't
make that fourth down, now, I know you're saying, all right,
we get the first down, then we win the game.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
I'm not.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
I mean, Colorado State is not a great team. And
then you're saying, all right, I would have pinned Colorado
down where like they did on the two yard line
and you know, make a stop.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
They didn't.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
But I was in the you know, if we're going
to say what did you what did you think of
the moment? What I thought in the moment was punted
away and you know, try to try to get a stop,
but put them pin them back.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
Now, if they would have put it into the end.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
Zone and then you brought it out to the twenty
five whatever it is, then I would have said that's
bad strategy. They had a great kick, but give credit
to you know, Chadeur Sanders, who you know had all
the big plays. Now, I got a bigger problem with
the defense not allowing a forty five yard touchdown pass.
But as far as their strategy of pinning him back,
(09:06):
I didn't have a problem with that.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
What else do we have seton? There's a little karma
in that touchdown pass too.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
Yeah Blackburn number eleven torched on that touchdown pass as
a kid.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
That knocked Travis Henrietta again. Yeah, Now that's just a
cheap shot.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
That's not He can't be objected for targeting in a
situation like that, I don't think, but I think it
was just unsportsmanlike conduct.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
But he did not.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
I mean, Hunter went out, then he came back, but
he's probably going to miss the next two games.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
And that's Oregon in US and that just feels so unfair.
Speaker 5 (09:41):
It does Travis Hunter, because that those are the games
that you, yes, you're waiting for, those are the ones
that you've been training for, those are the ones that
mean everything.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
We want to see him, We want to see him, yes, Tom.
Speaker 9 (09:52):
Don't they need to revisit that rule just because it
goes down as a late hit out of bounds and
then not necessarily going after his skull.
Speaker 7 (09:58):
That is enough to get ejected. I don't know how
that guy stayed in the game.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
You have the language, Paulie.
Speaker 8 (10:02):
Yeah, it's weird because the guy was not making a
play on the ball. The ball was completely gone. He
did not use his helmet. But there's like two parts
of the targeting rule. Part one says taking aim and
an opponent for purposes of attacking with forceable contact. That
goes beyond making a legal tackle, legal block, or playing
the ball. That would be here what heck id is
not playing the ball? And then it further goes on
(10:22):
to say targeting and making forceable contact with the crown
of the helmet. That's part two of the rule. So
they could have booted him out legally.
Speaker 5 (10:30):
Yeah, almost every part of the rule says head and
neck area, not you know, like a cheap shot to
the ribs. Almost every part of that rule says either
crown of the helmet or if it doesn't say crown
of the helmet, it's contact to the head and neck area.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
And that didn't happen. You know, it was just a
cheap shot, and the kid.
Speaker 5 (10:49):
Really executed it flawlessly in some way of thinking.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
But we don't look at the other part of that
rule that explanation. As PAULI just said, I thought that
targeting was the crown of the helmet, but he's saying
that the language in there is it's two part, and
it feels like we don't enforce the other one. It's
usually the crown of the helmet.
Speaker 5 (11:09):
Because I think you need both parts. Maybe I don't
think that you can just call targeting for a random
cheap shot. You need it to be like at the
head and neck area. You need to sort of launch
yourself at the head and neck area.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
You need to use the crown of your helmet.
Speaker 5 (11:24):
There's like certain factors that they're like, you know, it's
like thinking about what is a catch? Well, did they
have two feet down, did they make a football move,
did they turn up field, did they whatever? They have
all of this criteria that they have to check off.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
And look who called in? Shye and Irving.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Shay and Irving as Cowboys two and oh start defense
going great. They're doing everything that you want them to do.
How do you feel today?
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Shay is Mike McCarthy the greatest coach? I mean, does
he get in the ring of honor before Jimmy thirty
eight passes forty four rushing attempts? It's like the man
got inside my brain. Danny, they ran the damn ball
(12:55):
and what do you know, Dak had zero turnovers two
weeks in a row. The defense is legitimate. I don't
know what's going on in my life, but I've been
having nightmares lately. But what the other shoe dropping is
gonna look like? Because it ain't gonna be good. I
won money, Cowboys dominate, Longhorns win I smoked ribs, Dandy,
this is two weeks in a row. I'm not a
(13:17):
quit for this kind of stuff.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
You are not you are not prepared to have success
in your life.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
No, I am not in my comfort zone, Dni.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
All right, any negatives though with the Cowboy.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
I mean, the one thing I will say is the
level of competition has not exactly next week's Arizona. So
I'm looking for a real test and see what the
hell happens.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
All right, Well, once again Shan Irving on the Gambling
Podcast with Bad Larry and Dylan the graphics guy. How
did you do gambling wise this weekend?
Speaker 1 (13:46):
You want a unit, Danny?
Speaker 4 (13:47):
All right?
Speaker 1 (13:48):
All right, two weeks in a row. I'm gonna keep doing.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
It, all right, Well, it wouldn't be a good podcast
if you're not gonna gamble. So thank you for gambling,
and uh.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
Don't worry, I'll never quit that what the room makes us?
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Thank you, Shay whatever, dam all right, that's Shaye and Irving.
I'd never heard Shay. I'd never heard Shay two weeks
in a row. Sound like this. He's getting along with
his wife. He stopped drinking. He might have started drinking,
but he stopped drinking and he's his cowboys are playing great.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
It's almost like all of these things are linked. Do
you think he's getting along with his wife?
Speaker 5 (14:23):
Cowboys are winning, so he stops drinking and now he
starts getting along with his wife.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
Who could have connected those dots? That's amazing.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
Micah Parsons had two sacks since the start of last season.
He has seven games with multiple sacks, three or more,
three more than any other player.
Speaker 6 (14:45):
Cowl stand of a day, Stand of a day, Start
of a day, scant of a day.
Speaker 4 (14:52):
This is the start of the day.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Coming up, we'll hear from Zach Wilson on his performance
against the Cowboys. Also more from Dion Sanders as well.
We'll settle on a poll question. Phone calls always welcome.
Best and worst of the weekend. We'll take a break.

favored by three against the Panthers tonight. The Brown's favored
by two against the Steelers. What's the line on Colorado
(16:41):
and Oregon, PAULI, you want to play guests the line?
Guess the line at Oregon? All right, I'm gonna say
Oregon by four.
Speaker 8 (16:50):
Who wants a piece of that?
Speaker 4 (16:54):
Oregon by four?
Speaker 8 (16:55):
Yeah, I'll give you guys a hint. Remember when I
looked at the line, said, I got to check to
make sure this is right.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
Colorado's favored the opposite. Oh, yeah, Oregon should be favored.
Speaker 8 (17:07):
Favored by twenty and a half, twenty point twenty and
one held. Okay, well, then that's surprising they say the
fair by twenty Vegas. Vegas doesn't do storylines.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
They do Yeah, they have to live in reality because.
Speaker 8 (17:20):
The opening line is always the real Vegas prediction.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
Wow, okay, I guess Oregon doesn't believe no Travis Hunter.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
Mm okay, who you believe?
Speaker 2 (17:31):
No?
Speaker 4 (17:32):
No, no, no, no nobody, no no.
Speaker 7 (17:34):
Why did that bold junker about your guys?
Speaker 3 (17:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Here is Dion on his performance or his team's performance
against Colorado State.
Speaker 6 (17:43):
Truthfully, it's one point in the game. I said, we
can't let this du win. Ain't no way we let
this du win. You know, his press conference is gonna
be unbearable if we let this dude win. And Uh,
but I knew even when we got the ball on
a two or three for your man, I said, as loans,
the ball in your door's hands were gonna get down
(18:04):
this field. I knew that, not a shadow of a doubt,
all right.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
And they did It's a national story. Sixty Minutes did
another feature on Dion. They did one not too long
ago on Dion Sanders turning around the football program at
Jackson State now Colorado. I was watching the pregame and
when Dion hears the music, he hears you know, with
(18:29):
college game day, and he goes, that's that's the Rocks music. Now,
he acted like he was surprised that the Rock was there.
We knew the Rock was going to be there. It
was publicized that the Rock was going to be there.
So I called bull junk on that. I'm like, come on, Dia, Yeah,
you didn't have to act like you were surprised that
the Rock was there.
Speaker 4 (18:50):
Yeah, Paul, I did hear though.
Speaker 8 (18:51):
I saw someone post about it that the Rock was
supposed to be joining the show after Dion left, and
someone decided let's just have him walk up there. So
d I may have, but initially it was supposed to
be Dion and then the Rock, and they said, let's
just bring him up early.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Well, why would you do that in the first place?
Why would you have the Rock follow Dion?
Speaker 8 (19:09):
Just because that's what they usually do with their uh
when they had the coach and the celebrity guest picker,
they generally have two separate segments. And that was initially
I was told the plan and then it changed.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
But the Rock is there because of Dion. Why would
I not have them together? That doesn't seem like that's
good program.
Speaker 8 (19:25):
The Rock stayed all day and Boulder.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
He was had them all there all night. Lil Wayne
throwing a party. Everybody's there. You got basketball players there.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
It's a thing.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
Yes, Born Kawhi Leonard was there. He didn't even go
to Clippers game.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
And he was doing what he does when the Clippers
sitting on the bench.
Speaker 9 (19:45):
Oh no, even Offset showed up there.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
You know.
Speaker 4 (19:51):
It's a huge the off stay gentlemen, the Offset. Yeah,
but that's that big of a thing.
Speaker 8 (19:58):
That's four weeks ago. No one's calling to get take
to that game.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
Yeah, Mark and Mark Jones doing the play by play.
You needed your Urban Dictionary to understand some like, oh, oh,
I know what that means? All right? Yeah, like, what's
an offset?
Speaker 10 (20:12):
No?
Speaker 3 (20:12):
No, he's a person nicerp.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
What do you it's stunting that Dion Sun was stunting?
Speaker 3 (20:18):
Yeah, they have a rick Ross package. Yeah, it was
a jumbo like they had all the offensive lineman. They
called it a Rick Ross package.
Speaker 11 (20:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
I can't believe. I was up until two thirty watching
that game. My wife was like, what are you watching Colorado?
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Okay, what's it look like in Oregon this weekend for Colorado?
Does the does the group the celebrities they followed Dion?
Speaker 4 (20:47):
Is it going to be almost like he's on tour
or you wait for the USC game?
Speaker 11 (20:51):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (20:51):
I would definitely. I would take a week off with
the Oregon game. But you want to, like, you need
him to win that game to set up USC against
Colorado because you have Game Day is going to go
to South Bend. You have Notre Dame in Ohio state,
So they're going to take a week off from following
Dion and then they're going to go there. Then they'll
probably be there in Boulder for USC. Yes, don if.
Speaker 9 (21:15):
Colorado loses to Argon, especially by like two touchdowns or more,
and you're a celebrity.
Speaker 7 (21:19):
Are you interested in showing up at that game?
Speaker 4 (21:21):
Well, I think with USC sure regardless of what happens. Yeah, yes,
well I hope you do.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
I mean, are you just on the bandwagon while they
win and then all of a sudden if they lose
a couple of games in a row, still a great story.
And once again, just so they're you know, full disclosure.
I thought that next year was going to be the
year that you would see Dion and really have an impact,
and that might be the case. I thought they were
top heavy with talent. I didn't think they had enough
(21:48):
talent throughout the roster. So I guess if Dion came
on and he said do you believe, I would have
said no, I didn't believe. I know his son is
very good, and Travis Hunter is one of the top five,
maybe the number one recruit when he was coming out
of high school. Dion Sun has had a pick six there.
But they have exceeded expectations by winning on the road
(22:12):
at TCU. You know, they beat Nebraska, but Nebraska's not good,
and then you struggled against Colorado State. Nobody wants to
look at the reality of this and say, are you guys,
really a good team. Yeah, you know, this is sort
of It reminds me when Odell Beckham Junior was going
to pick a team and nobody ever wondered is even
(22:33):
healthy enough to play? And that was never brought up,
and of course he couldn't play, and nobody you know,
mentioned that. After a while. It's like he can't even play,
let alone pick a team. Last year, by the way,
he got injured again this weekend yesterday the game against
the Bengals. But with Dion, the reality of this is
(22:56):
they beat a Colorado State team they were supposed to
beat by at least three touchdowns. They did, beat TCU
at TCU, and they beat a bad Nebraska teo. Maybe
that's why they're you know, three touchdown underdogs against Oregon.
I don't know what they would be against USC. You
(23:16):
know when you think about that, Yeah, yeah, Marvin, Yeah,
who cares.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Let's have a good time. I think that's what everyone's
thinking enough Boulder, like, oh man, they're not even thinking
about all the details in the particulars, no, no, no,
Worth three and zero. Let's have a good time. You know,
Coach Prime is here.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
Well, you haven't had this atmosphere in a long, long,
long time since wayn.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
When's the last time Colorado was really like this type
of relevant? Well, this level? Oh never, okay, never mind.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Well, I mean, how many teams are this relevant when
you think about it? But Dion is done to Colorado.
What other team is this relevant? And we're talking about
star power, We're talking about game Day is going to
go there, Fox, their big noon kick on is going
to go there, The Rock is going to go there,
Lil Wayne's gonna I mean, what other program.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
The you there's no no, you're right, no, there's no coach,
no matter who. Maybe if Nick Saban went somewhere else,
but no one will have the type of impact that
Dion has.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
And I know that he's been asked about coaching in
the NFL, and now you want people to have him
coach the Cowboys, and I just you know, just slow
slow down. There's nothing wrong with saying, you know what,
let me see how this first year goes. And I
know he says, oh, I'm not going to go to
the NFL. Well not now, but in a couple of
years he might be.
Speaker 4 (24:40):
But let's just see how it goes. Let's let it
play out a little bit here.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
It's wonderful, it's a great storyline, it's great content.
Speaker 4 (24:49):
But I just have to I look at the reality
of this.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
If you get caught up in you know, with your
pom poms and you can't see everything, then you're going
to be surprised.
Speaker 4 (24:59):
I think he going to be brought back down to
Earth at some point. They all are. And that's not
being a buzzkill. That's just adding some reality to this.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
I mean, they could have easily lost this game, all right,
I mean probably should have lost this game. They could
have lost a TCU. They beat Nebraska. Nebraska's not good.
It's just no expectations for Colorado. Therefore, anything they do
is credited to Dion Sanders. Well, let's see what they
(25:32):
do against the quality opponent, and then we're going to
find out if this story is real, because right now
it feels fairy tailorsh you know, like I don't know,
it's nice, it's fun, get caught up, you know, it's
like boy band excitement, like oh this is awesome. This
has the feeling of Lynn's sanity, where you go, man,
(25:55):
Jeremy Lynn is killing it, and then all of a sudden,
it's like what happened to Lynn sanity, then it was over.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
Yes, mar Lynn Sandy was a moment in time that
I'll never forget. The Knicks played at Miami and d
Wade and Lebron were like, enough of this bull joke,
and they and Mario Chalmers and those guys literally hounded
him the whole game, like no, no, no, no, this
is over.
Speaker 4 (26:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
A couple of phone calls in here, best and worst
of the weekend, and then we'll go over the NFL
Sunday games as far as who should feel good and
who shouldn't feel good. I still like my odds with
Lamar Jackson MVP this year. Do you know who the
favorite is? Who is the favorite for MVP right now
(26:40):
this morning? According to DraftKings Todd. I'm gonna say who
is correct, and then it's Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes
are tied, Jalen Hurts, and then it's Lamar Jackson. So
those are the MVP odds as of this morning.
Speaker 5 (26:56):
Yes, it's an interesting list because Jalen Hurts. It feels
like their offense has struggled a little bit, but he's
still pretty high up. Obviously he's gonna figure it out.
Lamar feels a little far down on that list.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
Yeah, and it was a big game, winning Cincinnati. They
normally don't win in Cincinnati. Yeah, and then you got
the Joe Burrows situation. Not ideal, No, no, no, no, nope.
Not feeling good, not feeling good. Uh, Buddha in San Francisco,
Good morning, Buddha. What's on your mind today?
Speaker 11 (27:32):
What up?
Speaker 1 (27:32):
DP boys?
Speaker 10 (27:34):
What a wild college football game and spectacle really on
Saturday night on prime time? Dan, I mean that was
probably the best college football games that I've seen since
Texas USC national championship. I mean, an instant classic. Colorado's surviving,
playing like hard gage, hot garbage, and Dan, I want
to know what kind of degree is the CSU kicker
(27:56):
getting because he's got three kids and he is just
balling out at thirty one in college. So but uh,
best of the weekend, D and me and Marvin's Niners
playing pretty good and taking out the Lambs on the
road in LA to improve it too? And oh and uh,
worst of the weekend, Dan with the chief hit on
Travis Hunter. He's out for at least two weeks now.
(28:18):
It's a shame, especially with their upcoming schedule against you know,
Oregon and unc like you guys said, and it's.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
Just not good.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Nank you Buddha. Yeah, you want to have Colorado fully
assembled for this. And man, I'm watching the hit again
over and over and over, and uh, I know they
just call it unsportsmanlike conduct, but man, that felt like
that was ejectable.
Speaker 8 (28:46):
Yeah, pulling, and it caught up with Colorado State. They're
making plays in the you know, the hitch standers in
the chin late in the game to extend the drive
and they had that game in multiple different ways, and
their players getting out of hand cast them the upset
of the year. They would have stopped this story in
its tracks.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
I hate when somebody hits somebody and it's a cheap
shot and then they walk up to him because the
defensive back walks over to Travis Hunter. Travis Hunter has
you know, doesn't expect to get hit in the situation
like that, and then he's walking up walking over him.
Speaker 4 (29:18):
And I'm like, man, get out of here.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
You know, if you hit somebody and then you want
to let him know that you hit him, Okay, I
get it. But when you or if you walk over
me with you know, both legs and you know, I
got my wits about me. I'm going straight up with
my fist. I'm going to let you know, man, how
are your plums feeling? Chris in South Carolina?
Speaker 11 (29:42):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (29:43):
What could have been? Chris? What could have been for
your game cocks?
Speaker 11 (29:47):
Oh? Actually Dan? First off, good morning Dan Dennette excluding Fritzy. Uh,
I'm not a gamecop fand Anna, I'm alumni University of Alabama.
That goes to my that goes to my best. And
we're to the weekend and real quick, I got a
bunch to pack in Dan for Paulie. So I'm gonna
I'm gonna make it fast, best and worst of the weekend.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (30:07):
The worst is Alabama almost losing to whoever the junior
team where we were playing at Florida.
Speaker 3 (30:16):
South.
Speaker 11 (30:16):
Part of the best, though, actually is uh maybe this
we'll get coach saving off the half lack commercials and
back to the drawing board. Uh, instead in front of
the cameras. All right, here we go, Paully, you were
asking last week on the follow up, No, I did
not spend my entire life building my business. I'm a
retired United States Marine. I was a combat Medican Marine Corps.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (30:36):
You were asking about that. So, yes, Dan, this is
gonna win you the Emmy, if not the Emmy, at
least as Humanitarian Award. Not looking to go through the
whole diaper scene, Dan, I'm sure you can understand. So
I'd like to pre made Little League team. Any girls
out there as the sports fans, just let Dan know, Paulie,
that's the information for you. This is gonna win you
the Emmy.
Speaker 4 (30:55):
Dan, all right, thank you. Chris.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
Chris is single and fifty and he im not sure
if he wants to have a ready made family.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
Is he too old to get married to have kids.
Speaker 8 (31:06):
I think a man's man a marine, Yes he does.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
Yeah, I'm not going to make I think he's a catch. Yeah,
well it's probably jacked.
Speaker 8 (31:12):
You're one of those guys who wears like you know,
does military hats and these arms banging out.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
Chase in Kentucky, Hi, Chase, what's on your mind?
Speaker 12 (31:23):
Hey?
Speaker 13 (31:23):
About six foot two fifty? Yep, got the best and
worst three year but real quick wanted to congratulate Dylan
on hitting his all birds parlot. My worst is our
Cincinnati Bengals dropping yet another divisional game. It's obviously that
Burrow's calf injury is a problem, and I'm worried it's
gonna be a problem for the rest of the year.
(31:45):
My best I went to your book signing on Saturday
and had a great time. I just wanted to say
thank you for coming back to your old stomach ground
and spending some time with us. That was the highlight
of my weekend.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
Thanks DP, all right, thank you, Chase. Good to meet
you and I had a great turnout. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
The thing with Joe Burrow, like these things linger and
he said, well, I didn't get to play in the
preseason because of the injury. Therefore the offense is sputtering
a little bit. I just I worry about these kind
of injuries and what else they can lead to. And
that's that's where you know, the Bengals can't afford to,
(32:23):
you know, be patient with this. From the standpoint of
you're down now in the division, losing to the Browns
and the Ravens.
Speaker 4 (32:31):
Can you nudge Joe Burrow back?
Speaker 2 (32:34):
The answer is no, you can't. And he said it's sore.
Let me see how it feels on Monday. You know,
you get into these situations. We thought it was a
must win situation for them. There were a couple of
must win situations. We said, Colorado against Colorado State must win.
That was the biggest must win of the weekend. Buffalo
at home against the Raiders, must win situation. Bengals at
(32:57):
home against the Ravens, must win situation. Buffalo took care
of business against the Raiders, and then Baltimore goes in
there takes care of business against the Bengals, and Colorado
ended up win. We'll run through some of the other games.
We'll hear from Zach Wilson, the Jets quarterback, on his performance.
Our play of the day is up next here. Football

Shot to our steps over the pocket, flushed to the
near side, Rightful's hit down the field.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Shimmy hart here the fourteen pollutes, man to the inside, touchdown, touchdown.
Speaker 4 (35:37):
Colorado never two points away from a tie.
Speaker 11 (35:41):
Game.

(36:09):
performance by Zach Wilson, Pressed into duty. Of course, with
Aaron Rodgers. I saw where Aaron Rodgers is doing some
kind of new procedure or a new kind of surgery
was performed on him, and he hopes to be back
if the Jets make the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
Yes.
Speaker 8 (36:25):
Yeah, there's been some Achilles injuries in the past where
the timeline has been bumped up. Cam Aker's remember the
running back who played for the Rams. He had one
who was back in like under six months, and they're
saying this, this procedure is not it used to be
a year. You just said a year. Now it's going
the other way a little bit.
Speaker 4 (36:42):
Here's Zach Wilson on his performance against the Cowboys, so
frustrated because you know, we call it a great play.
Speaker 15 (36:49):
The situation was the ball has to get out of
bounce so we can at least get the field goal.
And you know, Garrett was my safe throwaway and as
I got to the top of my drop, he was
open and I was gonna rip it to him at
the front pylon and somebody, I don't know who it was,
you got a piece of the ball.
Speaker 4 (37:03):
And it's unfortunate because.
Speaker 15 (37:05):
In games like that, those are the ones we need
to connect on Okay.
Speaker 4 (37:08):
So what do you do If you're the Jets, you
gonna play Zack Wilson. Who can you bring in?
Speaker 2 (37:15):
They have to bring in a veteran I would imagine
by tomorrow. I don't know if it's Joe Flacco. I
don't know if you trade for somebody. But if you
have this amount of talent, you just say, let's just
sort of roll the dice and see what we have
with Zach Wilson. The only thing that I would have, well,
I said this in the moment when I'm watching, is
(37:36):
I want to take the ball out of his hands
as much as possible. You're going against a great defense,
Michaeh Parterson's, you're in Dallas. The expectation level, you're just
sort of easing back into the lineup here run the football.
They ran the ball eleven times. You're not going to
win with Zach Wilson throwing the ball thirty times.
Speaker 3 (37:57):
You're not.
Speaker 4 (37:57):
But if you can balance this out, then I think
you have a chance.
Speaker 2 (38:01):
The defense didn't play that well yesterday, and that's supposed
to be an elite defense. I didn't expect Zach Wilson
to play well, but I did expect that defense to
play pretty well. And if Dallas has this defense and
you get just a normal contribution from the offense, which
means no mistakes, then they're an elite team. They're an
(38:24):
elite team in the all of football, not just the NFC.
And by the way, if you're a Giants fan or
you're a Giants player, you have no business celebrating. That's
one of those where you committed the locker room. And
if I'm the head coach, Brian Daboy, go no no, no, stop,
no hoot and holler no no, no, no no. This
feels like a loss. You were down twenty to nothing
(38:46):
and I thought Arizona would win that game or could
win that game. I was all in on them on
the gambling podcast. I said, Seattle in Detroit, and I
loved Arizona against the Giants, and you're watching that game,
and yet they did get a win. They did have
this dramatic comeback. You know, we always look at, man,
what a comeback? How did you get in the position
(39:07):
where you needed a dramatic comeback in Arizona? I mean,
that's not a good team. Now you may have Saquon
Barkley out for a while, hopefully it's not serious, but
he reacted as if it was serious when he threw
his helmet when he was on the sidelines. But that's
one of those that's a bad win by the Giants. Now,
(39:29):
it could have been a really bad loss if you
let Arizona win it. But that's one of those where
you can't be celebrate and going we're back, yeah, Marv.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
But if you're the Giants after week one, a win
is a win there, you have to take it.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
You're right, and you got San Francisco coming up next,
good luck? Yeah, yes, yes, Tom.
Speaker 9 (39:47):
Not only have the Niners coming up in San Francisco,
they're playing them in three days from now.
Speaker 4 (39:51):
Oh no, oh boy.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
And then you might be oh boy with Saquon Barkley.
Let's say it's hopefully sprained ankle he and be able
to play. I don't think in a couple of days, yeah, poem, and.
Speaker 8 (40:03):
You know not to pile on. But this is why
teams don't pay running backs, you know, this is all
that hu ha in August. Then during the regular season,
they're interchangeable.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
And then Josh Jacob said minus yards yesterday in the
game against Buffalo, you're running back Crusade that they should
be paid.
Speaker 4 (40:21):
This is why they don't get paid.
Speaker 8 (40:23):
Yeah, Paul, By the way, is anyone else thinking about
getting on the commander's bandwagon? New ownership? Now you don't
have to deal with the Daniel Snyder stink. Sam Howell's
kind of fun. Nobody talks about them. They're a fun team.
Speaker 4 (40:34):
Yeah, I know the name changes and no, I'm okay
with it.
Speaker 8 (40:37):
I think it's Daniel Snyder. No hangover that you can't
root for this team. He's gone gone.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
I like the coach, Sam Howell used to be a
thing in college. You got a good running back, you
got a couple of good receivers. Defensive line is pretty good.
Speaker 4 (40:53):
Yeah, yes, Ton, and.
Speaker 7 (40:55):
You're in a conference where who knows what's gonna happen.
Speaker 9 (40:57):
In the AFC is stacked, but being in the NFC,
maybe they can sneak get in do something interesting.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
Well, no, it's it's too tough. In their own division.
You got the Eagles and the Cowboys.
Speaker 7 (41:05):
You you get a good enough record to sneak a
wild card? Who knows?
Speaker 4 (41:08):
All right?
Speaker 8 (41:09):
You co opting my team that is about to jump out.
Speaker 7 (41:11):
I think I just jinxed them.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
Unfortunately, Well, you don't want to be on the Broncos bandwagon, don't.
Speaker 7 (41:15):
You really don't.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
Right now here is Sean Payton talking about his quarterback.
Speaker 12 (41:21):
That's got to change. We had to burn timeouts in
the first half and I'm not used to doing. We
got to be better and I've got to be better.
Russell's got to be sharper with getting it getting the
play out, and then we got to look at how
much we have in But you know, if we need
to riskband it, we will.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
Okay, Russell Wilson Junior, the third has been hit more
than any other quarterback so far, and you throw it
fourteen times yesterday he got hit. I don't know how
much is on Russell Wilson, but I would start with
the head coach and the plays that are called in
your offensive line. And then to lose in dramatic fast
(41:57):
almost tie it up in dramatic fashion. And here is
how it sounded on the hail Marry.
Speaker 16 (42:03):
Three seconds to go from the fifty down eight trying
to get a free snap. Commanders don't jump off, they
rush for rust on the pocket now bounces around sets
and throws.
Speaker 4 (42:15):
The ball up in the air. It's going to be short.
The ball deflected, go buck up.
Speaker 16 (42:20):
Touch down for putting the jackson.
Speaker 6 (42:25):
Oh my lord, good cook am.
Speaker 2 (42:29):
Loga, uh okay. And then you have the two point
conversion that probably was past interference on that. Here's the
problem I had on the hail marry. These defensive backs
are so stupid in the moment. Knock the ball down.
Everybody wants to get their interception, get their numbers up.
(42:50):
If you knock the ball down, then you don't have
to worry about this. The last defensive back tipped it
up in the air.
Speaker 7 (42:58):
Now'd being number thirty one, Cameron curR not the name name.
Speaker 1 (43:00):
What are you doing?
Speaker 4 (43:02):
What are you doing? Let me keep it alive. Knock
it down. You missed out on an interception, but you
got you know, ensured that you got to win. Here,
I'm like unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (43:19):
And then there's past interference I think on that final
play or the two point conversion. There update the poll
results seat and if you can from the first town, yeah, yeah, we.
Speaker 4 (43:28):
Put up there.
Speaker 5 (43:28):
Which is more real Alabama struggles or Colorado's success?
Speaker 11 (43:32):
Right now?
Speaker 4 (43:32):
Fifty eight percent of the audience have Alabama struggles.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
Yeah, and I know the weather played a role, had
to take them off the field. But it's still Alabama
and it's still South Florida.
Speaker 12 (43:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (43:45):
Point Alabama fans would have been mad if they were
tied three to three with Florida at halftime.
Speaker 2 (43:49):
This was South Florida and then Florida had the big
win against Tennessee. All Right, Hour two on the Way.
Ross Tucker our good buddy. He worked a Patriots in
the Dolphins game last night. Are the Dolphins legitimate? And
how should the Patriots feel after another close loss? Hour
two on This Monday on the Way, Dan Patrick's show
