(01:09):
ESPN Radio over four hundred cities around America that carry
the program. US men's basketball yesterday afternoon, I watched that.
It was a tight one against Australia and they pulled
out the win. Once again, it's hard to really gauge
how hard you're trying. What's the philosophy here kind of
subbing out five and then putting in another five in there.

(01:32):
They should win the gold medal. They are overwhelming favorites
to win the gold medal. I'm kind of curious who's
going to win the silver medal? Already jumping ahead to that,
but Australia played really well. Canada did not go toe
to toe with the United States. But once again, preliminary
type of exhibition games. Then you're going to get into
the real games, and that's where you want to see

(01:53):
how these players play. And what we saw with a
team USA yesterday, Anthony Davis has played really well. Anthony
Edwards is still my favorite. He's the one who thinks
he's the go to guy, the number one option there.
I'm curious once they start playing, if you know Steph
Curry and Lebron go, hey, hey, hold on we're going
to take over from here. But watching that yesterday with Australia,

(02:17):
that was fun. The All Star Game tonight in Arlington, Texas,
ti Oscar Hernandez and the Dodgers beat Bobby Witt Junior
the third for the home run Derby title. This is
what I love now. First of all, sthetically, that's not
a great ballpark where you're watching how far a home
run goes part of the beauty when you're watching home

(02:37):
run Derby like Fenway, Oh my god, maguire just put
it out on the highway that didn't really have that
backdrop where you went. Man, that's deep. That is way
up there, you know, like SkyDome or something where Kinseko
put one up in the upper deck. And you know
with a home run, that's what you kind of want.
You want something that helps you, like the visually helps

(02:59):
you under stand, Wow, that is deep. Because there were
a couple of home runs that were almost four hundred
and seventy feet last night. That is and you know,
we're I guess we're numb to it now. With how
far Otani hit one earlier this year that I think
was four to seventy six, that's the longest home run
this year. That was actually during a game. Osuna hit

(03:21):
one four seventy three last night. And to really understand that,
sometimes when you're hitting it up into the stands, it's
different than if you had somebody hit a home run
and then you just let it go and there was
no outfield there and you got to see, actually, how
far four hundred and seventy three feet is. Sometimes you'll
do that with map quest or GPS, where you're like,

(03:45):
all right, how far away am I? You know, in
five hundred feet? Turn right, and then you're like, oh, wow,
that is a long way for a home run, five
hundred feet. And I go back to Mickey Mantle hitting
out of ballparks. There, I think the longest home run
ever hit and there's an asterisk by it. It might
have been Willie Stargel in Cincinnati hit one out of

(04:07):
Crosley Field, but it either went into a train car
or a truck that kept going, so the ball kept going,
so that went hundreds of miles probably. But you know,
we're fascinated with the home run, not as fascinated as
we used to be. And you know, when you're watching
the home run derby, it kind of is like, oh,

(04:29):
there's another home run, and there's another home run. ESPN
trying to dress it up a little bit, bring in
other elements, other voices. Michael Buffer was there last night,
you know, introducing the finalists.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
There.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
This is what I really like. I like that Bobby
Witt Junior was wearing his Royals uniform. If you're tuning
in and you're not quite sure who some of these
younger players are, to see them in their uniform, then
all of a sudden, it's like, oh, that's right, Oh
the Orioles got a great shortstop. It just kind of
minds you of who they play for now. It used

(05:02):
to be Marvin pointed this out home run Derby, home
run Derby, you would wear a National League or an
American League jersey uniform, and then you would wear your
team uniform in the game. I still like the team
uniforms in the game. I know it's about moving merchandise.
I get it. I just think for Major League Baseball

(05:23):
sometimes you have to say, how important is this the
bottom line of money over marketing our players? You have
thirty two new players, first time All Stars. This is
where you want to put the name with the team,
not the name with the league, and I think Major
League Baseball misses out on that. But I did like

(05:45):
seeing that some of these players. You're like, who's he
played for? Oh he plays for the Dodgers. Oh, he
plays for the Kansas City Royals. Oh he plays for Atlanta.
That's what you want, and Major League Baseball had that
last night, so I give them credit. It was fun.
It was dramatic down to the very end, and that's
what you want.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
You know.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
It's a long, long, long movie. It's like a mini
series where you're going, oh my god, how many more episodes?
You got three more? Okay, how many more? Two more,
one more? And then you had a really good ending.
Bobby Witt Junior came inches away from tying it up.
But it was fun. It's fun last night, and hopefully

(06:26):
you have a good All Star game. Paul Skeens is
going to start for the National League, so he goes
out there. Now, if nobody gets on base, he doesn't
face Aaron Judge. I think Aaron Judge is batting fourth.
I think he gets Soto batting third. To me, this
is where if I'm Major League Baseball, I say, hey,
we want Aaron Judge to lead off against Paul Skeens.

(06:49):
Let's go. You don't want to miss on the opportunity. Now,
there's part of me that's like, I mean, I want
schemes to strike out, you know, the first three and
then he's done. But there's part of me that's like,
maybe strikeout and then the ball gets away from the
catcher and then somebody Soto gets on first, and then
Aaron Judge comes to the plate. This is what we want.

(07:11):
These are the moments that you want. You don't get
many of these, and that's what I hope that we
get tonight. I do have odds here from DraftKings. How
many strikeouts will Paul's schemes are good? Buddy, have tonight
one or more, two or more, three or more. The
overwhelming odds are one or more, and then two or

(07:34):
more and then long shot for three or more. So
minus three point fifty for one or more, two or
more is plus one thirty five and three or more
is plus five hundred.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
Yes, I would love to be able to bet on
his highest number on the radar gun. I don't know
if that'd be a nice little prop bet like Buco
two U.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Okay, I don't see that, but maybe we can reach
out to DraftKings to see if there is a prop
bet on how hard Paul Skins will throw tonight, Yes, toun.

Speaker 5 (08:02):
If there was a way of measuring determination.

Speaker 6 (08:04):
Is Paul Skins more determined to get these guys out
of ideally strike them out? Or the batter is to
show who's this rookie getting all this attention. I'm going
to belt one off of him right now in the
All Star Game in front of everybody.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Wait, so now we're playing the who's trying harder?

Speaker 3 (08:20):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Who wants it more?

Speaker 5 (08:21):
Skiings on a batter tonight in front of the world.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
I would say it would be both.

Speaker 5 (08:25):
I don't think it's perfectly even though nothing in the
world is exactly fifty.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Okay, well then why don't you tell me what your opinion.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
I'm going to say.

Speaker 6 (08:32):
The batter is a little more psyched about, like I'm
going to show this rookie and show them up. I'm
going to get at least a base, hopefully a whole
mint off this guy. And that's what I think more
than scheens like I got to strike these guys out
right now.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Okay, all right, thank you, Tom. Nobody asks you how
you were feeling. But I'm glad that you brought up
and let the nation.

Speaker 5 (08:51):
Fifty eight percent determination to the hitter forty two percent?

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Who was more determined tonight Paul's schemes or the American
League's that first inning? Yeah? Odds to hit a home
run in the All Star Game? Who has the best
odds to hit a home run tonight? Marvin? Who has
the best odds? Aaron Judge blue bloo bloop and then
followed by Shoe Heyotani, Bryce Harper, Gunner Henderson, your Dan

(09:18):
Alvarez and Marcel Suna. Who is the home run derby champ?
So Aaron Judge plus three fifty and then show Heyotani
plus three eighty followed by Bryce Harper. All Right, Seaton
Poll question today is going to be on for the
first hour. Well, you were just talking about basketball. We
could say, how confident are you team USA will win

(09:38):
a gold in basketball? Positive?

Speaker 7 (09:40):
If you're concerned, very positive, you're very positive they're winning
a gold. So you think that these close calls are
just them sort of going through the motions.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Yeah, I don't know if there's a formidable team that
I say wow on any given night, that team might
be able to beat Team USA. I don't know if
you have that. You know, looking at Serbia and Greece,
you know you have Canada, France, Like France would be
the team that I would say, okay, home court advantage

(10:11):
with wen ben Yama and Rudy Gobert. Okay, maybe, but
that's just it. There's a maybe, not like wow, watch
out for that team Argentina or Spain and you know
recent memory always have formidable teams. But this year's team, Yeah,
even if Kevin Durant's not playing, you know, that's still

(10:32):
a very very formidable team. Yes, Marv, I think we just.

Speaker 8 (10:36):
We should just say win Banyama because Rudy Gobert is
barbecue chicken to a lot of those big guys. Bam
out of Bayou and those guys, they're chomping at the
bit because look, look what happened to him during the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
He was getting abused. Well, first of all, when you
see say defensive player of the year, he shouldn't have
been Defensive player of the year. Defensive player of the
year really is the team Now one guy gets the award,
But you know he benefited from a team that's a
really good defensive team. Do I think Rudy Gobert scares
people know, I think Victor wembn Yama does. And I

(11:09):
would have had him as the defensive Rookie of the
Year or Defensive Player of the Year because the number
of shots that you know he is going to change.
They don't have a stat for that, at least I
don't think they do singularly. Nobody was talking about the
Spurs great defense. It was basically that they're just not
a good team. Yet Minnesota was a really good defensive team.

(11:32):
And it's like Ben Wallace when Ben would win Defensive
Player of the Year with Detroit, that was a really
good team defensive you know effort that they put out
and Ben was the you know, the backbone of that.
He was the center fielder there, you know, cleaning up
all the mess. Yes, Marv.

Speaker 8 (11:50):
So, should shots altered be a stat?

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Yes?

Speaker 8 (11:53):
Like Hurriy's in the NFL. Yes, like Max Caros would
lead the league in hurries?

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Yes, because I think hurries is more important than sad
because sometimes we'll go, man, that guy had eighteen sacks, Okay,
how many hurries did he have? Because if I combine
sacks with hurries. Max Crosby might be your leader because
that guy he gets there, he doesn't get all the
way for a sack. But the hurries that could be

(12:19):
thirty thirty, five, forty that you have as opposed to, Hey,
that guy gets sacks. Okay, how often does he get
close to the quarterback? Yeah? I think altering a shot
is just as important as blocking a shot. Now, I
get it. Sometimes you block a shot and you're like,
whoa man, he threw that into the seventh row. It's

(12:41):
like a dunk. All dunks aren't created equal, All home
runs aren't created equals. Sometimes you'll have a dunk where
you go, oh boy, that's going to leave a mark,
or a home run that is so deep and it
sounds so majestic. It's like, oh wow, that kind of
hangs there the echo that you have in the ballpark.
But yeah, I would say when you alter a shot.

(13:02):
I don't know if they have those stats, but hurries
in the NFL absolutely, I think it's very important. All Right,
what else do we have seton for baseball? Which is
more important or which is better selling? All Star jerseys
or name and team recognition? Not meant to be as
snarky as maybe it's sounding well, we've had some problems

(13:22):
with uniforms this year, so I don't know if the
rush for merchandise is going to be that high, considering
these uniforms have looked cheap. But I do think the
name recognition, the team name recognition, is really important. But
that's because you have thirty two first time All Stars
and you want to make sure that you understand, oh wow,

(13:45):
he plays four. You're gonna have moments tonight where you're
going to see a player and you're going to go,
oh wow, I didn't know he played for Seattle. It's
just because we're gonna familiarize ourselves with Major League Baseball tonight.
People will do that that this is a you know,
we're gonna be a crash studying here. This is gonna

(14:07):
be one of those Oh now I know major League Baseball.
Oh wow, he's the catcher for the Orioles. Oh he's
the short stuff for the That's what's gonna happen. Do
we have the Paul's schemes? Bet on how hard he
will throw? Paulie I just got it in. I'm deciphering
it right now. Okay, that means wait and tease it

(14:28):
so after the commercial. But that's code for what Paulie
is saying is I've got it. Why don't you wait
until after the commercial break? That's called good producing right there?
All right, let me take a break. What happened last
night with the national anthem? I don't know, but something
happened last night, that's for sure. Take a break. We're

(14:50):
back after this.

Big Night from Major League Baseball Baseball World gets introduced
to Paul's schemes. If you haven't watched him, must see
TV and he'll get the start for the National League Paul.
He was curious if there is a prop bet for
how fast the fastest pitch that Paul Skins will throw tonight.
I'm going to put the over under at one oh

(16:04):
one point five. That's about right.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
They have four different options to bet on the Paul
Skins first pitch. Okay, under ninety nine miles per hour
is minus one o four. That's the most likely. The
second most likely is one hundred to one hundred one
miles an hour.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Ninety nine to.

Speaker 4 (16:21):
One hundred is plus three seventy. Then over one hundred
miles over one hundred and one miles per hours plus
four hundred. The unleash is the dragon on pitch one.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Yeah, I'm wondering, like, how much do you really want
to turn it up? You get caught up in the
emotions and then adrenaline starts going. Then you get out
to the mound and then all of a sudden, here
we go and you're only throwing one inning. Although I
was told that they wanted to know if he wanted
to do two innings and I think it was wise

(16:54):
for everybody that let's not take advantage of this. Let's
just have one inning here where he's out there. So
tune in, tune in early to watch Paul's skenes and
once again, the American League I think has to get
somebody on for Aaron Judge. I believe he's batting fourth,
Soto is batting third. Okay, there was the anthem last

(17:16):
night and it was sung by a country singer, Ingrid Andres.
And she's successful. She's been nominated for a Country Grammy.
I think four times. She had a very big hit
with Sam Hunt. And here is a portion of the
anthem last night.

Speaker 10 (17:34):
Oh the.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Okay, first twenty seconds fifteen to twenty seconds, you realize
that you know she can sing, and then all of
us sudden. I don't know what happened, because normally what happens.
You know, people who sing the anthem talk about when
you start out, that sets you know the tone of
where am I when I start out? Because you can't

(18:12):
start out too high. Carl Lewis did that, but Carl
Lewis is not a professional singer. You've got to start
out and a key that you're comfortable in. You can't
be up too high because there's only so high you
can go with your voice. So she had already started out.
It sounded like in a comfort zone for and then
all of a sudden, I don't know what happened. Sometimes,

(18:33):
you know, they have ear pieces in where you're just
able to hear yourself, not the echo anything else. It
drowns out everything. Musicians have this all the time. It
drowns out everything you're able to hear yourself. And then
all of a sudden it started to go sideways here
and then I don't I don't know if there's a

(18:53):
panic attack. I don't know if she kind of lost herself.
Maybe she was hearing echo. Sometimes you'll get feedback when
you're wearing an ear piece.

Speaker 10 (19:03):
Here.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
Happens to people on TV all the time. You know
somebody's doing a live report, you go out to them,
they'll hear themselves, they'll say something, and then they'll hear
the echo there and it's very disconcerting. And then you'll
see reporters who just take their ear piece out because
it's hard to speak that way. I don't know what
happened last night, But and you guys are in the

(19:27):
hey any publicity is good publicity. So let me ask you,
did this country singer Ingrid Andres have a good night?
Because we know who she is. If she sang well
last night, it would be like, okay, anthem, pretty good
and then you move on. Marvin, did she have a
good night last night? Because any publicity is good publicity

(19:49):
to you guys, No, okay, Paul, did she have a
good night? No? I can't see anyway.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
I mean, if you're unknown and you crush it, you
inherit a bunch of new fans be empathetic or sympathetic
to her, But no, not a good night at all.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
Todd, did she have a good night? For somebody who
is a sung off key?

Speaker 5 (20:07):
She did not?

Speaker 2 (20:08):
Wow? Okay she did not. Okay did you have a
good night when you sang with Darius Rucker?

Speaker 6 (20:15):
I thought it was better than maybe you guys thought
it was okay, But after listening back to while I
was singing it, I thought it was pretty good. Listening
back to it, I was definitely off significant.

Speaker 10 (20:30):
But no, No.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
You know what.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
I'm thinking. I'm thinking, Duet, I'm thinking you and Anger
do it?

Speaker 5 (21:00):
Thank you? It's long overdue.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
Yeah, put us together? Yeah, yeah, and ooh, yeah, I
don't want to do that to Darius again, so somebody
else has to take on that issue.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
Yeah, Pauline, you said something before like how does this happen?
Because this is a professional singer. My guess is she
had an extended rehearsal and did okay, did something happen
between the rehearsal and the singing time where it went
off kilter because it was really not that close to good.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
It's really rare I if ever, that somebody does the
anthem without doing a sound check. You always do a
sound check. We've been at games, all Star games, World
Series games, playoff games where we will see the artist
out there doing a soundcheck and it can be three

(21:50):
hours before the game. But they do it because they
want the acoustics, they want to hear themselves, they want
to make sure there's no echo. Like all of these things.
It's just a checklist there. But sometimes when you start
out in the wrong key, you can never ever correct it.
You know, once again, Carl lewis not a professional singer,
but he started out in the wrong key. And I

(22:12):
don't know if there's a right key for Carl Lewis,
but he started out too high and then he you know,
unless you're Mariah Carey, you can't get there.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
But we want.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
With a godan please.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
Street me.

Speaker 10 (22:32):
Round it.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
See he's up too high, he's up in no man's land,
and uh, you know, there was nothing he could do.
Now he's he's a great Olympian, he just can't sing.
I'm sorry. I hate to break it too. Do you
realize that when I did a sit down interview with him,
and I did these hour long interviews for a show,

(23:03):
and we were told not to bring up the anthem,
that Carl would sit down and do the interview, but
you can't bring up the anthem. And I'm thinking, why not,
like all these years removed from it, can we find
out a little bit more about it, like behind the scenes.
And I was told, Carl will do the interview, but

(23:26):
you can't bring up the anthem. Damn, that's the only
thing I wanted to know about.

Speaker 6 (23:30):
Yes, Tom, don't you embrace it to make yourself more
human and fun and relatable.

Speaker 5 (23:34):
We all have mistakes.

Speaker 6 (23:35):
Some don't necessarily do it on a national world stage
like that. But the only thing to do there is
with your publicist agent, managers.

Speaker 5 (23:41):
Let's just have fun with it. Let him ask the question.

Speaker 6 (23:43):
It's silly. It was an embarrassing moment, but you're a
very accomplished person. That's not going to define your life
or anything.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
I don't know if, like ed, how much is enough
separation that you can laugh at it? Or does she
go on the two day show Good Morning America country stations.
I would say yes, but once again I don't I

(24:10):
don't know her. I don't know you know how she's
made up. I mean, she may be devastated by this.
I don't know if you can go you know what
it got away from me, or this happened here? What
if she had an anxiety attack? Like I don't know.
It was painful to listen to. It was, but it
was also tough to listen to because you get your

(24:32):
moment here and she's just sort of starting out. It's
just it was tough tough to hear it.

Speaker 8 (24:40):
Yes, marm Her next tour day is July seventeenth in Nashville, Tennessee.
So if you guys want to see.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
Her, but then she should and probably will come out
and say I would love for her to come out
and sing the anthem and crush it. Well, let's go,
let's just this is how I she should have been singing.

Speaker 7 (25:00):
Yeah, but she's kind of seemed like even when you
first saw her, before she was even done singing, its like,
is she okay? I don't know what she's normally like.
You know, I have no idea who this girl is.
To be honest with you, I thought it was Heidi
Gardner from uh Saturday Night Live. Oh that's like, that's
to me who she looked like. I was just like,
is this like I thought Heidi Gardner was playing a

(25:22):
singer and this was part of like a skit, and
it's like, oh no, that's a real singer. She looked
like she was already in a very emotional state, like
like she had just found out that her dog died
or something, and then like okay, and you're singing in thirty.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
She seemed uncomfortable. Yeah, like awkwardly uncomfortable there. Definitely, yeah, Pauline.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
The other tough thing is if you're a player standing
for the anthem, standing at attention, you know, the cameras
are whipping around, these players have been out there before,
and you're biting your lip so you're not the one
who's laughing at this poor young woman who's blowing the anthem,
and some of the players are trying their best not
to react, doing the best.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
It's tough. Okay, these are already planned. So if you're
the director of the broadcast last night, you know that
you're going to go to this player is going to
be there, that player is going to be there, that
player is going to be there. I don't think that
it was and people wanted to know, was Fox trying
to embarrass her by going to these players and having
these players trying to hold off laughing. That's already pre planned.

(26:26):
They're not going, Hey, this isn't going to be a
good rendition. Let's get some real close ups here. That
was already planned. You know, they do rehearsal there. Hey,
we're going to do the anthem. Can some people stand
out where the baseball players are going to be? We're
going to go there. Okay, now we have an idea
of where we're going, Then what are we going to
do after that? I mean that these things are normally

(26:48):
buttoned up, But that was just one of those moments
where you're listening and you're going and I didn't know
that it was bad because I'm thinking, is that bad. Wait,
like when Fergie did the anthem at the All Star
Game and I go, is that is that bad? And
then you kind of realize it is, and then everybody

(27:10):
else starts to realize this isn't good. And I'm all
for people doing their interpretation of the anthem and whether
it's a guitar solo or a saxophone, whatever it is,
paying tribute. I think people were bothered. You know what
happened to former President Trump. Now you want that strong anthem.

(27:31):
You know somebody is gonna be on display national TV.
You know, now we patriotic pride, We're gonna We're gonna
nail this. You know, it's like nine to eleven. When
nine to eleven and then you had the baseball game
with the Yankees in Matge Mike, you wanted that anthem,
You wanted it to sound great, And I think that's where,
you know, there was even more pressure on that anthem.
And at least in my mind, I did think of

(27:53):
that last night.

Speaker 4 (27:53):
Yeah, Pum and some singers make the anthem their own
and it works. Chris Stapleton, the great country singer, was
that the Eagle Super Bowl two years ago. He made
it a country you know kind of southern rock anthem,
and it was fantastic, But it's a risk because you
never know this singer. Last night she tried to sing
it straight. I don't know if she considered doing her
own version of it. But like Chris Stapleton crushed it.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
You also had Michael Buffer last night. Michael Buffer crushed it.
He did the introduction for the finals with home run Derby.
Are you ready.

Speaker 10 (28:30):
All the sold out thousands.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
And attendants and the.

Speaker 10 (28:34):
Millions watching around the world, ladies and gentleman, Let's get
ready to run.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
Okay, how many hours did Michael Buffer work last night?
I guess you have to get it from start to finish,
when he gets into the ballpark to when he leaves.
There's a rehearsal. Let's say four hours. How much do
you think Michael Buffer made last night?

Speaker 5 (29:03):
Todd two hundred and twenty five thousand dollars?

Speaker 2 (29:07):
All right? See no'connor seventy five thousand, all right, Marvin,
Michael Buffer made one hundred thousand dollars. Paulie knows the answer,
So I'm gonna guess. I'm gonna say fifty k.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
I'm told that the person didn't want to give you
the exact number between fifty and seventy five thousand for
four minutes of actual work.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
I would have done it for forty five thousand. You're
putting that out there. Yes, I would have. I just
can't say, don't even say it. Don't even say it.
Let's get ready to humble. That's that's what I would
ad bess. Let's get ready to stumble, crumble, bumble, rumble, todd.

Speaker 6 (29:54):
Let they give it ten thousand dollars the flight, the hotel,
car pickups to and from the hotel and airport, and
a n seat down the first base line or even
behind home. That wouldn't that be plenty to just say
let's get ready to rumble, and let's get it ready
to whatever he says, and a few other words before then.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
Wait, you just spent more time talking about Michael Buffer
than Michael Buffer spent.

Speaker 6 (30:15):
That's a good point, okay, But I think a reasonable
price for like anybody, give him a couple of grand
and a couple of hot dogs and a beer, pay
for the flights to and from in the hotel, that's plenty.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
Michael Buffer doesn't have to do this, He doesn't he
doesn't need exposure. If I'm Michael Buffer. It's like, all right,
make this worth my while. Not gosh, I haven't been
in a ring in a while. Be nice to get
some hot dogs and some tickets to go to the
All Star festivities.

Speaker 6 (30:44):
He's like the home runs there is a big deal,
and look you're getting out of here the boxing.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
You didn't go to the Broncos victory parade. You have
no business talking about anybody else.

Speaker 6 (30:54):
What big fight has happened in recent years where Michael
Buffer would even be needed or it would be a
big deal.

Speaker 5 (30:59):
That's you know, really no big fights.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
Once again, Todd, you turned down a chance to be
on the Broncos victory parade float.

Speaker 6 (31:08):
Yeah, the negotiation didn't go well for that second ticket
for my son, so I'm bailed on that thing.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
Yes, yeah, he didn't want to go with his son.
I give him a lot of credit for that. That's
a huge win. Oh see your team, Todd, that he
didn't want to go.

Speaker 6 (31:22):
I wanted to go, but I want it to be
a father's son experience. I don't need to be there
by myself.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
That's well, don't don't gang up with Seaton. Now that
you have somebody an ally here, you could have had
your son go he's not. If he's there, then you
could have said to von Miller, hey, I brought my son.

Speaker 3 (31:40):
Now.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
Then you might have guilted him in to.

Speaker 5 (31:42):
Bring him up in the moment.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Or or you just say, hey to your son, just
walk along the parade route, that's all. Then you could
have been together and you could have talked about it.

Speaker 6 (31:54):
Then he gets lost and crying somewhere the police elected,
we have your son.

Speaker 5 (31:59):
Just let him wander around the parade in foot of
thousands of people that you deal. I thought he'd be fine.
I told him to just stay in that spot. I
didn't time to go walk around.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
He wasn't six. I think he's like seventeen when this happened.

Speaker 6 (32:10):
I know we have a kid here with a Steve
Atwater Jerseys. It's terrible crying at the police department. Really,
come pick him up.

Speaker 3 (32:15):
Is this your kid?

Speaker 2 (32:17):
You're acting like your mom did with you pretty much? Yes,
Like what could go Something's gonna go wrong. I don't
know what it is, but something's going to go wrong
with my little Todd.

Speaker 6 (32:26):
And I didn't take my son for a throat culture
every week, every tiny cough just to see if you
had strapped throat.

Speaker 2 (32:30):
I didn't do that, all right, let me take a break,
got some phone calls coming up. Settle on her pole question.
Caleb Williams remains unsigned. He doesn't have an agent. It
seems like it's a problem because Bear's camp is about
to open up. Mike Florio, we'll talk to us about that.
How did we get to this point where he doesn't
have an agent? And Dan Hurling, Yukon head coach, will

(32:54):
join us coming up a little bit later on as well,
back with our Player of the Day.

Speaker 1 (32:57):

Good morning, Jim. What's on your mind today?

Speaker 1 (34:07):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (34:08):
Dan?

Speaker 12 (34:08):
Six three two ten, first time caller and a ten
time Broadway veteran and five time singer at Yankee Stadium
four times with the anthem. One time was God bless
America Great?

Speaker 2 (34:22):
What can you tell? Do you have any insight into
what happened to this country singer last night?

Speaker 12 (34:28):
One of two things. The first thing is you had
it around the nose. Like usually when you're standing out
there waiting for it. You have to be out there
fifteen twenty minutes before, and I would sort of have
to continually keep singing the first pitch over and over
again to make sure you don't lose it, because if
you get off, like you said, if you get off
by just a little bit, that song gets really high,

(34:49):
and you can you can really find yourself in a
situation like she was last night, last time at a
Yankee Stadium. Actually was the twenty thirteen or the twenty
twenty to uh first game to ALCS. I was pretty nervous,
but fortunately everybody was cussing out al Tuvey, so it
kind of like made me laugh and easy, uh, easy

(35:10):
nerves as I was standing up there. I mean the
second part would be a lot of friends of mine.
I've never done this, a lot of friends of mine.
You get pretty nervous, you go out and do the
sound check, like you said, and it's like, you know what,
let me take a beta blocker or dan X something
to calm me down. And if you're not used to
doing that because it's a different situation, it can definitely
throw off you know, I'm not suggesting that's what you

(35:32):
did or whatever, but but that's something a lot of
people do. And sometimes I've had friends of mine who's
done it and are like, oh, that totally screwed me up,
because then I wasn't my pimpo was off, things in
my head were off, and you know that that could
also be a possible explanation.

Speaker 2 (35:44):
What's the toughest line in singing the anthem?

Speaker 3 (35:48):
Uh?

Speaker 12 (35:49):
Definitely you want to make sure when you start, when
you start going into the bridge, and and the rocky
tread there Dobom's bursting in.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
Like that stuff.

Speaker 12 (35:57):
You know at that point, if you're in the right
zone or not, because if not, when you get to
the Home of the Free, uh, you know you're going
to be in a really bad place if you're not
kneeling it right there. So if you're you need to
know you're in the pocket there or else by time
you get to the end, you know, you better, you
better belly ups and sing well to get that that

(36:20):
last note out.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
Well, Thank you, Jim, thank you for the insights. Luke
and Charlotte, Hey Luke, what's on your mind? Hey Dan?

Speaker 13 (36:28):
You know, I hate to pile on here and I
don't want to be Monday for a seat. But but
to me, when you when you do all the extra
craft and the frills and the quote unquote making it
your own, you're just kind of setting yourself up if
you make one mistake kind of turns into a download spiral,
you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 14 (36:47):
Yeah, So I just I just think, you know, it's
tough again, tough to pile on, but it's hard to
think that it's not just a little bit self imposed,
you know, kind.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
Of the effect.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
Yeah, well, thank you, Luke. Tough not to pile on,
or tough to pile on when you're waiting on hold
there for twenty minutes to pile on. You could have
just gone to work. Yeah, tennis in Michigan, Dennis, what's
on your mind?

Speaker 3 (37:19):
Good morning, Dan, Danettes, thanks for taking the call. Last
time we spoke, I was solo sailing a boat from
the Great Lakes to the Bahamas, and you guys were
keeping me company and I expressed my appreciation for that.
Made it to the Bahamas, and you had asked me
if I could take any Dan Aute with me, who
would I take? And I had said Fritzy, And after
making the journey, I'm sure that's why I would have taken,

(37:41):
so that he could have serenaded while we were all
in the anchor and the shark infested waters his rendition
of man eater.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
Oh okay, so you did you swim with the sharks?

Speaker 3 (37:54):
I did not. I saw some bull sharks that I
would not go anywhere near the water while they were
in there, that's for sure. And I wanted to ask
you Dan. You mentioned during that call that you have
a pontoon boat. You are then Captain Dan, I hope
you've had a chance to enjoy that this summer I have.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
I've taken the family out on the pontoon boat. It's
nice because it's kind of you can't break it, you know,
it's pretty indestructible. The floating bar. Yeah, you bang into things.
It's okay. Now, if you have one of those really
nice boats and it's going to leave a mark, like
it's a pontoon boat, just bring the family out there,

(38:31):
set up shop, drop anchor, crank some tunes. Good to go.
By the way, the water where I went seventy five degrees.
That seems really warm for a lake. Seventy five degrees.
That's almost bath water, isn't it. But yeah, the pontoon boat,

(38:53):
you know, it's like my battleship. Yeah, pulling. I have
a question.

Speaker 4 (38:56):
You obtained a pontoon boat. Do you take any classes
or or get any instruction before you took out said
boat for the first time.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
I'm not making a joke. I'm actually asking yes I did.
I talked to somebody who runs a marina and I
said to Zach, come on out with me and show
me what I need to know, Like a flight instructor. Yes,
he was great, and uh, you know, you know where
you're in shallow water, and you know they have the
depth finders and all those things, and so I'm I'm
still learning. I think parking it is the tricky part

(39:27):
because sometimes you can be a little too far away
from the dock and then you have to step on
the dock and then tie it up, and then you're like,
I think that might be too Like I'm worried that
one of these I'm gonna I'm gonna miss the dock
and I'm going in. Yeah, just for future efforts. I
don't think you park a boat. I dock a boat.
I think you dock it. Yeah, well just.

Speaker 7 (39:47):
When you're around the other captains says, you're right, see
you know, you know, where are you going to park
that thing?

Speaker 2 (39:53):
That's not no where are we parking? Yeah, that's not
the terminology. So when I say, like, jib the engine,
you know, jib the moat or something where you raise
the moat starboard, I think that would be a sale starboard.
I once know that you do the motor. You don't
give a motor starboard. Yeah, yeah, there's a few things

(40:14):
I don't have boat shoes either, I just know. No,
I don't you want to borrow one of mine?

Speaker 3 (40:19):
No?

Speaker 2 (40:20):
No, I would need to borrow two of them, not
one of them. That'd be weird. If I'm borrowing one
of your boat shoes, I'm going to get you a
pair of boat shoes. Okay.

Speaker 7 (40:26):
Have you been learning all of your knots and things
like that?

Speaker 2 (40:28):
Or is that not so much?

Speaker 1 (40:29):
No?

Speaker 2 (40:29):
No, no, no, I'm really good at that. Tying up
the pontoon boat. You know when I when I dock it?
Have you yelled down the hatches? I have not? I
have not. I have yelled out Lando hoy and I've
said Madi, Yes, Tom.

Speaker 5 (40:48):
I have a doctor friends whose boat is not on call?
K and O T. That's pretty clever.

Speaker 6 (40:52):
Do you think?

Speaker 2 (40:52):
Thank you to? Yeah, I thought it was about my boat.

Speaker 5 (40:56):
He parks it very well.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Does your boat have a name? No, it doesn't. I know.
Can we name it? Yes? I would like the audience
if they want to name the boat. We can do that.

Speaker 7 (41:07):
There's a future in this.

Speaker 2 (41:08):
Yes, next hour, Yes you can name my pontoon boat.
Let's not rush it. Oh you want two hours here? Okay,
we might want two weeks. Two weeks I'm gonna give
you a little hat, a little skipper.

Speaker 10 (41:28):
