Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio. OK.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Got a great weekend, everybody. It's hour two on this Monday.
Morale is high. We're ready to go. Got our game
faces on for Friday Celebrity Family Feud in Atlanta. Steve
Harvey he'll be hosting. We'll go against the Rich Eisen Show.
We're either gonna be bad but entertaining, or we're gonna

(00:27):
be great and entertaining. Nothing in between. We've been practicing here.
This is guaranteed to go wrong, horribly wrong. Absolutely eight
seven seven to three. DP show email address, Dpadanpatrick dot com,
Twitter handle, a DP show A lot to recamp from
over the weekend. I had a lot of sports on.

(00:48):
You had the Pacers rough up, the Cavaliers thunder and
the Nuggets are tied to two games apiece now. And
you got basketball coming up tonight. You have the Celtics, Nicks,
and you have the Timberwolves and the Warriors. You also
have the draft lottery Utah, Washington, Charlotte, all with fourteen
percent chances to win the lottery. Forty years ago, tonight

(01:10):
the Knicks won the lottery. I was there when David
Stern pulled out the New York Knicks and they took
Patrick Ewing. Now there's always been will always be a
conspiracy theory or two about this. I didn't realize it,
but I'm watching and I don't you know, we're not realized.

(01:32):
The first conspiracy theory was that one of the envelopes
that included the Knicks logo was frozen, so the commissioner
would know that's the last one to pick. By touch,
he would know, don't take that card. The other one
was a folded corner on the Knicks card. There's one

(01:55):
card that thrown into the side of the drum, folding
the corner and you can see. Now this is once
again conspiracy theorist who say the commissioner gives a big
exhale before he takes that card out of the hopper
and the next ended up winning with Patrick Ewing. If

(02:15):
that's the case, then why don't they fix Momar lotteries?
You know, now you got Lebron going to Cleveland. If
I'm going to place Victor Wimbenyama, am I placing him
in San Antonio? Would I place him maybe in a
larger market now for his sake and development? San Antonio

(02:36):
was perfect. It was perfect for David Robinson, perfect for
Tim Duncan. But if you're trying to get publicity, don't
you want him in Washington, d C. Don't you want
to have maybe a East coast destination for him? And
I think that's the interesting part winning these lotteries, And

(02:57):
just because you win the lottery doesn't mean you're winning championship.
David Robinson won a couple of titles, Tim Duncan won
five titles. Kyrie Irving won a title number one overall,
pick Lebron won a title, but he had to come
back to Cleveland. And I think that's it. Of teams

(03:18):
that have won the lottery, how many guys have won
the how many guys have won a championship for that
team that took them in the lottery? The Spurs obviously
with two guys, Kyrie and Lebron. I don't think there's
anybody else that was taken number one overall and won
a title for that team.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Yes, Paulin going back to Lebron James, I don't know
if we've discussed this. If you were fixing the Lebron
James draft lottery, would you have picked Cleveland? Yes, New
York was in that lottery, Miami was in that lottery.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Yeah, but I just because he's playing for his hometown team,
and I think that the publicity, like Cleveland was going
to do, you know, they were going to benefit Cleveland
was not going to be you know, the mistake by
the Lake. They weren't. You know, we had laughed at
the Cavalier. Now you had Lebron, Now you were going

(04:13):
to watch their games. So I think just because he
went to his hometown, I think that that had a
little money and the Browns had not won a championship
in what forty years? Certainly not nothing in basketball. So
I would say yes for that. Would I have sent
Tim Duncan to San Antonio. No, I probably kept him

(04:35):
in Boston. But if you're going to fix why they
only fixed one lottery, they only fixed Patrick Ewing going
to the Niggs, do you feel like, hey, we robbed
one bank, We're not going to rob another bank. I
don't know, but uh, being around the commissioner and being

(04:56):
around David Stern in private moments, and that was up
one time he was on a phone call. So I'm
in his kind of waiting area, waiting room, and I'm
in New York City, and I can hear him. He
is ripping somebody, and I think it was a reporter
who was asking about this. They were going to write

(05:17):
a story. Maybe they were going to try to do
a thirty for thirty. I don't know. There was no
way I was going to ask a follow up question
when but I could hear him through a wall. So
I went in to see the commissioner twice, well three times.
He wanted me to host the NBA. He knew I
loved the NBA, and I said, I'll do it under
one condition. You let me pick who I have on

(05:40):
the set. He goes, pick whoever you want, and I said,
I want Michael Wilbon because I want an NBA reporter
who's giving us some flavor there. We didn't have necessarily
insiders back then, but Wilbon would be in the locker
room and he would give us sort of a sense
of a team or a star. And then I wanted
Mark Jackson, and I remember the Mothership pushed back on

(06:03):
that because they were they had gotten rid of Mark Jackson.
I said, I'll bring out the best in Mark Jackson.
We'll have fun. And David Stern said whoever you want,
you pick them. The other two times, he was yelling
at somebody in his office and I could hear it
through the walls. He is just berating somebody. And then

(06:26):
he came in to see me, and he had a
smile on his face and he goes, bleeping contractors, man,
they charge way too much money. I'm going he's yelling
at his general contractor probably working on a deck. And
then the other time was when somebody was asking about
the eighty five lottery and I could just hear him,

(06:50):
you know, kind of like if you go with that story,
bah blah blah blah blah blah blah and a couple
of f bombs in there. And he came out. He
was not smiling, and I did not say anything. You know,
I've learned, I'm I'm pretty good at reading the room
and maybe asking the right question. I read the room,
and I wasn't going to ask that question about him,
But oh my god, you want to drive him crazy?

(07:14):
Well that would have driven him crazy. But rest in peace, Commissioner. Yes, polie.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
We were discussing back here what an ingenious way freezing
a envelope would be because there's no trail it's eventually
it's going to go back to room temperature. So when
you walk it in, you put it in the bucket,
he finds it. But is there just a refrigerator on
hand when somebody has to do that, right, You got
to have a guy who walked it from the refrigerator
to the bucket. Yes, and that guy's got to be

(07:42):
silenced forever.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
And you also have to have a freezer or refrigerator
on the property conveniently.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Yeah, I don't know. It's somebody you imagine like pre
lottering guys, are you know, getting soft drinks? And hey,
do you have any ice commissioner, don't open the freezer,
don't know, don't open the open the freezer. And you
got the Knicks card. That'd be great if you had

(08:08):
two cards in there, you know, a backup plan for
if it's not New York.

Speaker 5 (08:14):
Yes, we should freeze an envelope today and then see
how long when you take it out, how long it
takes too cool or you know like dera, yeah, faw faw, Yeah, all.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Right, but we would have to get you know, one
of those big hoppers and then you throw all the
cards in there.

Speaker 5 (08:32):
Because that's that's the tricky thing to me is when
you take it from the freezer and then you bring
it out onto the set where there's lights and all
that stuff. How long do you have How long of
a window do you have to make sure that that
envelope when you touch it is still cool. I don't
know how long that takes.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
I know, yeah, that was forty years ago. I remember
being at that draft as well.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
Also, you're trying to freeze vapor or cardboard, which doesn't
seem You're not freezing a leg of lamb, which would
be really easy to pop in there. You could if
all the other leg of lambs are room temperature, that'd
be an easy touch. But I don't know if you
could even freeze cardboard because there's no moisture in there.
M I'm no physics guy.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Wow, okay, that'd be something that Fritzie you probably you
went to chemistry class.

Speaker 6 (09:20):
Thinks about six minutes and twenty three second.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Thanks you time, Thank you all right, Seaton Pole question
for hour two is going to be one hour two.

Speaker 5 (09:29):
We've got three up there right now. Three Pole questions.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
By the way, the Cowboys are seven point underdogs in
the season opener for the NFL against the Eagles. According
to DraftKings, I already got the betting line over under
forty six and a half.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
All right, seating, Was Game three a must win for
the Knicks? Sixty four percent of the audience say yes?
Is Game four a must win for the Knicks? Eighty
seven percent say yes yeah? And then this is a
very East Coast bias pole group of pole questions. But
I'm rooting for the Celtics or the Knicks. Seventy eight
percent of the audience rooting for the Knicks. Okay, how

(10:03):
about that?

Speaker 2 (10:04):
How about that? Mike all Right age seven to seven
to three. DP Show email address Dpadanpatrick dot com, Twitter
handle at TP show, get to your phone calls, best
and worst of the weekend, Capitol's Hurricanes tonight, the Golden
Knights at the Oilers. You have the draft lottery. Derek
Carr retires, and we knew that he had problems with

(10:25):
his shoulder. Turns out Labram don't know if he had
the surgery and it didn't respond where he needs to
have the surgery, but he chose to retire. Now, I
didn't think he was going to be there after this
next this season coming up and it felt like they
were ready to move on from him. I think he's
thirty four years of age now. It wasn't expensive, I

(10:46):
think thirty million dollars. But they went out and drafted
Tyler Shutt, who I believe they think he can start.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
Now.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
I don't know if he could start. Game one might
be Spencer Rattler. And the Rockies fired Bud Black. Good
for Bud Black to get out of there, because Bud
Black is a good manager, and I felt bad. You
have seven wins, Like, what is Bud Black not doing?

(11:15):
Not giving his players bats or gloves or like? And
people still go to the Rockies. They go to the
games and you would think they'd be in the bottom
five in attendance. Actually still draw people. But Bud Black
got fired. Maybe the Pirates could hire him, you know,

(11:37):
get a spark. Yeah, go to Danpatrick dot com and
you'll click on these spirits tab a special offer available
right now, a gift with select purchases of Tailgate Moonshine.
It's something that was last available ten years ago. Response
has been great to this. Go to Danpatrick dot com.

(11:57):
Stat of the Day brought to you boy Pennini America.
The Trading Cards said the Dan Patrick Show. Good morning.
If you're watching on Peacock, thank you for downloading the app.
And we say good morning to our radio affiliates around
the country. Andy and Rhode Island. Hi, Andy, what do
you have for me today? Good morning?

Speaker 7 (12:15):
Then Dennis, what's going on? Marvin Christy? Then I missed
I missed you, guys.

Speaker 8 (12:22):
I had to.

Speaker 7 (12:22):
I took a hiatus, you know. And I feel like
in every committed relationship sometimes it might meet some space
and I'll be honest, it wasn't you, it was me.
And then I do have a best of words of
the weekend. I'll get right to it. My best was
I attended Rhode Island FC's home game against Monterey Bay FC.

(12:45):
And I know it's not a big thing on the
show with soccer, I did it. I totally understand. But
being a Rhode Island it is the first soccer stadium
built in New England, which is amazing. It has gotten
a lot of great feedback and I would like if
I could squeeze this in see and I know it
might be last minute, I would like to possibly invite
you to the May twenty fourth game at our home stadium.

(13:08):
Movie in Soccer Rhode Island. If it's possible, you know,
we can make it happen, because I definitely know you
have a love with soccer and my you know, I
could say my first love for any sport was soccer,
being you know, being k Burg.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Why do you reach out personally to the seating here, Andy,
I mean the stoppage time? Yeah, pretty, you know, nice
to get the invite there.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
I don't know if it's the first soccer specific stadium
built because Hard Athletic absolutely, and that's our rival, that's
our main rival.

Speaker 4 (13:39):
Now. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Uh, Jeremiah in the Indianapolis, Hi, Jeremiah.

Speaker 9 (13:46):
A DP, thanks for taking my call. Second time, long time. Uh,
that's when I works. Of the weekend best obviously Mother's Day,
having Mother's Day, all the moms out there. Also the
Pacers pulling off a massive wind LAS night much needed,
probably even I must win.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
The worse though, was.

Speaker 9 (14:05):
The DeAndre Hunter and Benedict Matherin debacle. I don't condone
what Benedict Mathern did by any means. I don't like
what he did. I don't like that persona put on
the team. But I don't think that DeAndre Hunter should
have remained in the game. His retaliation I felt was
as violent, if not more so, and probably deserved an echection.

(14:30):
I just kind of wanted to see what your thoughts
were on that and appreciate it getting a call.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
I don't have an opinion on it. Even Rick Carlysle
wasn't quite sure exactly what went on during that, but
you know, you lose him in the first minute of
the game, and that was one of those that's like,
wait a minute, what happened?

Speaker 9 (14:51):
But thank you?

Speaker 2 (14:53):
I don't You can't let your emotions get the better
of you in a playoff game. This is why I've
always railed against Draymond Green. He's a wonderful player, but
you can't let your emotions get the best of you
where you're a detriment to your own team getting thrown
out of a playoff game, even running the risk of
getting thrown out. I mean, that's so much lack of maturity,

(15:18):
wherewithal understanding the stakes, everything that's going on, because it's
a negative for your team. You just got thrown out.
Now granted it didn't come back to haunt you, but
those kind of situations where the other team rallies brings
them closer together, but I just, for the life of me,
never understood that even coaches, coaches who let their emotions

(15:41):
get away from them throw temper tantrums and to the
detriment of their team, and they're always the ones yelling
at you to keep your composure. I always I had
a coach who would yell at me, and then he'd
get a technical. And I just wanted to say, how
about you, a coach, why don't you keep your composure.
But it's not like he could have put me further

(16:03):
on the bench, so it would have been a good line,
but I didn't want to risk that.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
Yes, I watched the play a couple of times while
this was being talked about. Benerck Mathrin, he of the Pacers,
he hits DeAndre Hunter.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
He kind of he.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Punches him in the stomach or like the solar plexus
stomach area. Then he walks back like he baited him.
Then Hunter, DeAndre Hunter runs up and he looks like
he's gonna punch him in the face, and at the
last second he just shoves him in the chest, which
saves him from a big, big penalty. He just got
a tech because he hit him in the chest like
a shove, not a punch to the face.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Yeah, and Rick Carlos, I think said after the game,
he goes, I didn't know if he hit him with,
you know, a flat hand, or he punched him and
he punches him and he got tossed in the game.

Speaker 5 (16:47):
I mean it's kind of a push punch. I think
it's a little a little floppy. Oh you think there's
a floppy the initial punch to the chest air quotes
punched to the chest, Yeah, yeah, I don't know how
much intensity there really was to that.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
Yeah, but you leave it open to interpretation. That's the
problem because you're doing it right in front of an official.
It's not how you're trying to hide. You know, guys,
you know in the old days, they were great at
giving you an elbow or you know, they punch you
in the back. You know, nobody's going to see it.
Message since yes, Ton and.

Speaker 6 (17:26):
They're saying Hunter is normally a mild manner, not a
hothead type player. So however hard he got punched into Stern,
Andre didn't. It was enough for him to take several
steps over there and felt like you had to make
some kind of physical contact or retaliation. And Park we
know Shaka loved the fact that he went back at
it and just let that stand.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
All right, Well, take a break. We will talk some
more NBA playoffs. We'll talk to our good buddy Chris Haynes,
NBA Insider, more football talk as well. The schedule. It's
okay to leak each day. There's going to be leaks.
And I say that in quotation marks. They're going to
leak these games out. So maybe you'll get one game
gets all the attention today. There'll be another game tomorrow

(18:05):
that they'll leak out. And you know this is there's
going to be a game in Dublin there. You know
the game's overseas. Those will leak out as well. And
then the schedule release party is coming up at the
end of the week. We'll take a break back after this.

More phone calls coming up. Best and Worst of the weekend.
We will give you our best and worst of the
weekend Coming up. Jason Tatum, Celtic's forward after the blowout
winning Game three, talked about the criticism he faced after
the first two games.

Speaker 12 (19:44):
You know, just you understand of what comes with me
and that guy. Right, I live a great life. I
ain't gonna live say I make a lot of money,
I take care of my family. I've been able to
experience a lot of things. But you also have to
except what comes with that.

Speaker 13 (20:01):
Right.

Speaker 12 (20:01):
I get a lot of praise, I get a lot
of credit, I get a lot of accolades, but you
know I'm not perfect. There's times where you know I
needed to play better, I needed to do more, And
you know that's what comes with being You know that guy.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
He's right because I think he's a great player. I
don't think he's a star. And there's a difference in that.
You can be a great player, but are you do
you have tune in factor? That's that's what I'm talking about.
I think people got a twisted that I was highly
critical of him. I think great players in big moments
act great. That those first two games, he didn't act great.

(20:42):
And now I'm sure you can get down the list
and Jordan and Byrd and Magic and yes they all
had bad games, but they also had great games in
big moments, and that was what I was pointing out.
He doesn't have this, he doesn't have star power. They're
trying to make him a star, but he's just a
great player. Yes, I know, he's first Team All NBA

(21:03):
what five years now. I'm early to the party with
Jason Tatum because if you're a fan of the show,
you know what I said going into that draft. I
was told Jason Tatum was the best player in the draft,
and he's proven to be. He's a great player. I
just want great players to be stars. I don't think
that's asking too much. Chris Haynes, senior NBA insider, host

(21:26):
of The Haynes Brief Show on YouTube. He'll be covering
Game four tonight with Golden State and Minnesota, got an
update on Steph Curry's hamstring.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
DP.

Speaker 14 (21:39):
He's fighting valiantly to get back. You have to, you know,
let's think about Stephen Curry. One of the fiercest wars
we have in this league, one of the toughest competitors
we have on the I would say he probably has
more down years left than prime years at this point.
So he is really doing everything behind the u scenes

(22:00):
to try to get back expeditiously, and the.

Speaker 4 (22:03):
Team right now. They're trying to be cast.

Speaker 14 (22:05):
As they don't want to create a spark and trying
to say that Steph will be back by game five
or whatever.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
He's going to be reevaluated this week.

Speaker 14 (22:16):
And I know, you know, just knowing Steph and some
of the people that are around him.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Well, you froze up, Chris. We'll see if we can reconnect.
They're talking about best case scenarios game six. I just
don't see him coming back, and if he does, I
don't know what you're getting. I mean, you'll get an
emotional lift there. But I just if I'm Minnesota, I
run him ragged. I'm physical with him. I make him work.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
Yeah, Paulie, you know, as much as I agree that
this hamsterring looked really bad, it would be very Steph
Curry to shake this one off and light them up
in the game that they really needed. Like he's only
like his career may not be too much longer highlights,
and it'd be very Steph Curry has.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
To do this. And he's one of those guys who
has star power, Like you tune in to see him,
there's star power there. Luca has star power. That's what
I'm talking about. With Jason Tatum. Yeah, Chris is back
with us. Yeah, I wonder even if you do get
him back, what exactly are you getting with Steph Curry?
So you know, Minnesota is gonna run him, run him ragged,

(23:26):
running through screen. I mean, they're gonna they're gonna work
him pretty good. I don't know where we're gonna be
as far as where the series stands. Minnesota's favored tonight
in that game at Golden State, and Chris frows up again.
All right, tell Chris, we'll connect with him another day

(23:46):
there ton Yay, Chris, can you hear me?

Speaker 4 (23:51):
I can hear your GPS?

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Okay, all right? I was pointing out with Jason Tatum
and I got criticized her by by some. I want
him to be he is great, but stars takeover moments.
They have these moments, and that was the only thing
that I was arguing. And I don't know, I don't know.
Am I being fair to Jason Tatum by saying he's

(24:16):
not a star. He is one of the five to
seven greatest players in the game.

Speaker 4 (24:22):
He's not a star DP or he's not.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
A he's not a star. I froze up again. All right, Hey,
I might have gotten a good response there. He might
have said, you're crazy, Dan, He's a star, Yes, Poe.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
It's a big semantics argument because a couple of people
heard your comments about Jason Tatum and said, WHOA, it's
being harshly critical, but it's it's like saying someone's an
A student not an A plus student. How critical is that?
And I think that's the summary of it.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
Yeah, just you know, big moment and you want to
see him be great, that's all. And stars have that
there's something about them, there's something different about them. He's famous,
he played at Duke and he's a wonderful player. And
really it's probably a silly comment on my part, but

(25:14):
I want him to be greater. I want him to
be legendary. I want him to be one of the
all time clutch players. It's not like I'm nitpicking. I
don't like him. I just that was what I watched,
That's what I see. I got a pretty good sample
size of watching NBA understanding that when people say who's

(25:37):
better him or Jalen Brown? I mean, those are questions
that are asked if they lose this series, there's already
questions of do you continue with the team that you
have now. I think that's crazy to break it up,
but these are questions that have been asked for a while.
And then Jalen Brown wins the MVP in the finals.
Last year, Jason Tatum makes the Olympic team but doesn't playing. So,

(26:04):
uh see, what's the pole question? Prower two.

Speaker 5 (26:07):
Yeah, we got three of them up there working right now.
Was Game three a must win for the Knicks? Fifty
one percent had that as a yes. Is game is
Game four a must win for the next? Right now?
Eighty eight percent have that as yes. And are you
rooting for the Celtics or the next right now? Sixty
six percent of the audience rooting for the next?

Speaker 2 (26:28):
Okay, I'm wondering about this that Giannis's future is the
honest future in Milwaukee attached in any way to the lottery.
Could you see a scenario where a team, maybe not
these teams that are really bad like Utah and Charlotte

(26:49):
and Washington, Let's say another team, maybe a little more established,
wins the lottery tonight. Could you see a scenario where
Coop Flag is traded to get Yannis? This is this
has just been talked about, Yes, PAULI.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
There's a little bit of news on Yannis that broke
about an hour ago. I broke is I'm not the
right word. Sham Sharani of ESPN's that quote. Two time
NBA MVP Yanis at the Takumbo has not made any
firm decisions, but for the first time in his career,
he is open minded about whether it's the best fit
in Milwaukee or playing elsewhere. That's from Sham's okay, and
he's that's being delivered clearly from Yannis.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
Yeah, And that's what I wonder about. Is he going
to put pressure on Milwaukee and say trade me. I
want to be playing for championships again, and we're not.
We're not. We're getting further and further away from that.
But now, would I want to be the GM who
trades the rights to Cooper Flag to Milwaukee to get Yannis? No,

(27:55):
I would not. Now you're rolling the dice. You're saying
you know that Yannis is still going to be great
at age what thirty? And what are you saying about
Cooper Flag? Because I'd rather have somebody for ten years
than somebody for five years if it's that kind of talent.

(28:15):
You know, if salary is going to be similar at
some point. You know, I want Cooper Flag. I want
people to pay. If I'm Washington, you want Cooper Flag.
If you're Utah, you want Cooper Flag. Charlotte you want
Cooper Flag. But if you're one of the more established teams,
or maybe a playoff team who you know lucked out
and got into the lottery, would you consider bringing in

(28:39):
Yannis and would you give up Cooper Flag. I can't
imagine that happening, but people have spoken about that. Yeah, Paulin,
But going.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
Back to Giannis, twelve years you've had him. If you're
the Milwaukee Bucks, you got twelve unbelievable years, your team
was relevant, you got a title. It's almost a little
apples and oranges, like the Saint Louis Cardinals with Albert Pools.
They got his ten best yeers and almost out of bargain.
Joannest didn't start making money until he's like twenty four,
twenty five years old. Would you consider trading him? Yes,

(29:11):
well there's still hotness there.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
Yes, yes, yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
A year and a half from now, you can't trade him,
but I would.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
I would trade him. You know, I have to trust
my front office that if we get players and get picks.
Then what are we going to be like? You know,
can I trust my front office that will turn these
picks and players into something that'll make us better? But
it comes down to one thing. Does Giannis want to

(29:38):
be in Milwaukee? That's it. That's the question I ask
do you want to be here? And if you do,
you know we'll have you involved in decisions. We want
you involved, we want you to be happy here. We
will continue to try to build around you. But if
he doesn't and he's wavering, then that's where you have
to look at the overall health of the franchise and

(30:00):
you're probably going to have to make a move. The
question is what can you get for him? What did
Rudy Gobert brought four first round picks? Is that right? Marvin?
Four first round picks for him?

Speaker 4 (30:16):
Either four or five? Check?

Speaker 2 (30:19):
Wow, that's nuts. Now do you want to give up that?

Speaker 6 (30:23):
Like?

Speaker 2 (30:23):
What would you want in return for Giannis? And I
think that that That's what I find interesting. Now you're
gonna hear, well, the Lakers, Okay, what are you giving up?
F You're the Lakers? You know, Austin Reeves in Dalton
connect and Bronnie James. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (30:40):
I think it's so interesting the Giannis and Cooper Flagg thing,
because you're essentially trading one skill set for the other.
It's like you're swapping strengths.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
Right.

Speaker 5 (30:49):
One guy is more like a transition player who finishes
at the rim. The other dude is more of like
a mid range, extended sort of player.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
But you know that Yannis, he's a two time MVP.
You're hoping Cooper Flag is going to be that by
all indications, all indicators, he's going to be a great player.
I would not want to give that up. You know,
you got a talented kid, white kid from Maine who's
going to be the number one overall pick. It's a

(31:20):
novelty and we've seen him go against Olympians. We held
his own and he's what eighteen maybe nineteen? Now I
could I just couldn't see giving that up. Yeah, Pauline.

Speaker 3 (31:35):
As far as training for Giannis, a team that could,
but should they? Oklahoma City has I think eight first
round draft picks in the next four years. They could
get rid of all of them easily, But would that
mess up the apple cart? Is that this great lineup
is right now with Oklahoma City?

Speaker 2 (31:52):
Well, you gotta win one title. I would worry about
the fallout. Hey, we won a title, Okay, you're on
scholarship for a while. If if I'm okc and and
you say, hey, we can win a title in the
next two or three years, but after that it might

(32:13):
not be pretty. If I'm the Rockets, Rockets would be
a team. Now you I mean, got a lot of talent.
Who throwingis in there? Yeah, I'm Martin.

Speaker 13 (32:24):
And that's the thing. The Rockets have a lot of
B players. They need a a player which Gianni would provide.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
Keith in Virginia Beach, Hi, Keith would's on your mind?

Speaker 9 (32:36):
Hey, Dan?

Speaker 8 (32:37):
Six to one hard two forty five hard.

Speaker 6 (32:44):
Dan.

Speaker 8 (32:44):
We'll call in my best and worst best of the
weekend all the sports we watch good great basketball games
and and things like that. Worst of the Weekend Friday Dante,
a few of my buddies over and when we me
my wife first moved into our house. The garage was
supposed to be my man cave. But over the next

(33:06):
four years my wife has slowly gradually put her stuff
into my man cave, and then my mother in law
stuff came in. So now and I mean, I'm thinking
about going to therapy behind it.

Speaker 9 (33:23):
I don't know, because.

Speaker 8 (33:26):
It's like I want to stand, I want to put
my foot down, and I want to tell her to
put her stuff out, but then she's gonna stop putting
out and I can't have that. So I don't know
what to do, Dan, I don't know what to do.

Speaker 2 (33:39):
Yeah, Paulie, he needs a man invention, Okay. I think
that's why he's calling me, right.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
He wants us to tell him to grab that stuff today,
put it back in whatever closet or storage room in
the house, and retake his man cave.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
Yeah, but I don't know if this can be a
palace coup, like it has to be done in a
You have to be the velvet hammer here, Keith. You
can't go fire and brimstone. I think maybe middle of
the night, you know what, maybe you get your buddies
to quote unquote break in and take all the stuff

(34:15):
in the garage. Maybe maybe you are out to dinner
with your wife and her mother. Oh, you have an alibi, Yeah,
and then somebody comes in and takes all the stuff,
clears it out, and you go, huh. I don't know
what happened here.

Speaker 5 (34:28):
Yes, I just for the record, and like legal reason,
staging a break in is not what we're uh proposing here. No, yeah,
that's done. You don't do that, is what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah,
I'm saying, don't have your friends be like, hey, we're
gonna go out to there, you guys break in, steal
all my mother in law stuff and my wife's stuff

(34:50):
and then it'll be good. Yeah, let's not do that.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
You have hypothetical Yeah, for enjoyment, you know, just content,
that's all it is.

Speaker 5 (34:58):
It is such a buzzk. Yeah, it's just.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
A bit so, so Keith, don't do that. Okay, No, no
I'm not.

Speaker 8 (35:06):
I want to thank you guys for all the one
to put the don't take it the heart. I'm going to,
like I said, I think I'm going to therapy. This
is a very emotional time for me because I feel
like it's just a cave. It's no man attached to it.

Speaker 4 (35:20):
A cave.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
It's sad, accurate, damn, this is sad.

Speaker 5 (35:25):
What what if we I mean, I don't know the
size the exact footprint of Keith's cave at this point,
no longer man, but we should just take the show
on the road. Do it from Keith's man cave and
then just reclaim the space. What we could say is, hey,
we need all this space to do the show. We

(35:46):
need to put cameras and stuff here. Can you move
all of this out of here. We'll clear it out
for you, and then you just make sure it never
gets back in there.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Okay, yeah, now that probably I think I would stage
the other.

Speaker 5 (36:03):
All right, nevermind, then.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
Keith, would you call back let me know how this
is resolved.

Speaker 8 (36:10):
I will dance and I put my best foot forward.
And lastly, uh uh Fritzy's lyrics all.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
Of Okay, it's National Limerick Day? Yes, Tom?

Speaker 6 (36:25):
Is it selfish to want your your own part of
the house as far as a man cave?

Speaker 2 (36:30):
What do you think?

Speaker 6 (36:31):
I don't think it's particularly selfish, you know, if it
depends how big the house is. But if there's if
needs to put stuff of someone else's mother in law, wife,
whatever somewhere else.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
But if she designated this as your man cave but
slowly took it from you, then I would think that
you have you know, battle lines have been drawn here.
I would think that you you have a really good
case here. I would just take it to a mediator,
maybe you do that, maybe bring in an mbudsman can

(37:03):
to help you with this. You could hear in his
voice like he's broken. He has broken. Yes, he's got
a cave with no man in it. We'll take a
break our best and worst of the weekend.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
After this, be sure to catch the live edition of
The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six
am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
App kind of a convenient story to break on the
night of the NBA Draft lottery that, according to ESPN,
Jannis is open minded about leaving the bunks. Okay, is
it just a coincidence that is happening on the night
of the draft lottery? Maybe? Maybe, But that's one of

(37:47):
those where I go, you're open minded, Do you want
to leave? Like, you tell me what you want to do,
because if you say you're open minded, that means you
probably want to leave. Well, I'm married, I'm open minded
about dating other people. Uh tell me how that's going

(38:08):
to go over at the home office.

Speaker 3 (38:09):
Yes, pol there's nothing more Yiannis than this story because
he seems like a very polite, measured guy. He seems
very nice. He's not going to demand a trade, but
he'd be open.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
To look at other options from open minded Best and
Worst of the weekend Toddler.

Speaker 6 (38:24):
Best the t Wells Julius Randall triple double salary in
Game three at the Warriors twenty four points, twelve assist
ten boards came along the second player and team playoff
history to record a triple double, joining kg also became
the first player in twolve's history with multiple twenty point
tennisis games in a single postseason. Worst of the weekend
after their worst shutout lost in team history Sally twenty
one to nothing, the Rockies tied the eighty eight Oils

(38:46):
for the worst start in MLB history at six and
thirty three. Heading into Sunday, listen to this, guys, Colorado
had lost eight straight, had given up runs of nine, eight, ten, eleven, thirteen,
and twenty one. They've lost eight straight three times lad
the season, and Bud Black, the manager.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
Fired see no counter.

Speaker 5 (39:01):
I'm we'll go with a double worst this weekend because
why not? And they're both Chicago baseball teams. Chicago White
Sox are not good and the Cubs also had a
terrible weekend. They lost to the Mets seven to two.
They're in a three game losing streak. Baseball in Chicago's
is not great right now.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
Oh, okay, they got the Pope on their side, though.

Speaker 5 (39:21):
They do, they do. It didn't work out this weekend
though yet. But it's a slow, slow climb to the Okay,
all right, Gates.

Speaker 2 (39:28):
It's your best and worst of the weekend, Marvin.

Speaker 4 (39:32):
Best of the weekend.

Speaker 13 (39:33):
Peyton Pritchard's going twenty three points off the bench, including
five three pointers. Worst of the weekend. This was cringe
worthy being there in person. Mitchell Robinson going four to
twelve from the free throw line.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
At some point you would think somebody said, hey, let's
look at that shot. You can't get to the NBA
and you shoot like that. I should not be able
to shoot blindfolded better than you can shoot with your
eyes open, and you're an NBA player. There's no excuse, yes,
marm and.

Speaker 13 (40:06):
So the game started at three thirty. At around twelve
forty five, Mijor Robinson was out there shooting free throws
and they looked exactly the same. It wasn't like I
make those during practice. No, no, no, you're missing him
just as bad.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
He should shoot underhand. He should as long as you
make nobody's gonna laugh because Rick Barry shot underhand and
he's one of the greatest free throw shooters of all time.
If you make them, they won't laugh at you. It's
when you don't make them that's when they laugh at you. PAULI,

(40:39):
I got two best.

Speaker 3 (40:40):
Pascal Siakam people kind of forget about him after he
left Toronto. Just a very good player, possible haul of
very good someday. But he's another guy like SGA. They
don't force threes. He was nine to ten from two
the other day. Just a really nice player. And then
the Panthers. The Florida Panthers really like their uniforms, but
Jay Sergei Bibroski twenty three saves no goals for Sergey.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
Yeah, Nebroski, I'm pulling for the maple Leafs, yes time.

Speaker 4 (41:07):
I'm just gonna ask.

Speaker 6 (41:08):
By rooting for the Mapleas and Jets, which I am,
does I make us anti American?

Speaker 4 (41:12):
I'm wearing a Canada switch up. I just don't even.

Speaker 6 (41:14):
Realize that just now, but I think I went to
Mapleas and Jets to win thow.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
Sing, Hey, we're gonna be buying Canada soon. So By
July first that could happen, one big family. There no
hand gestures, there to little hand gesture. Fin Final hour
coming up
